The Power of Kindness in Times of Conflict
In the face of the war in Ukraine, countless individuals and organizations have stepped up to provide humanitarian aid to those who have been displaced from their homes. One such individual is Linda Asanasiadu (Linda Kovalewska), a Cypriot-born Ukrainian who has been actively giving much-needed assistance to those in need—from Krivoy Rog to Antalia. Her most recent shipment included thirty pairs of winter shoes and sets of clothes, demonstrating her commitment to helping those affected by the conflict.
Linda's inspirational efforts remind us that even in the darkest of times, humanity and kindness can still be found. If you want to help those in need, you can reach out to a charity or support organization, or even offer your assistance directly. Together, we can make a real difference to the lives of those who have been affected by conflict.

Alvin would be just the perfect vampire from Rivne. Or better yet, from Krivoy Rog. I remembered a wonderful episode of the series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” Do you understand what episode we are talking about?

The Russian Air Force has launched more than 8,000 missiles against Ukrainian targets since the invasion of Ukraine in February. Russian commander spoke about the actions that highlighted the Su-57.
"The special military operation proved the effectiveness of the air systems and air defense facilities available," according to the commander of the Joint Forces in the area of special military operations, General Sergei Surovikin, in an interview with the Rossiya TV channel 24.
"As for the operational quality, I want to highlight the 5th generation Su-57 multipurpose plane. Endowed with a wide range of weapons, he performed multifaceted tasks related to the neutralization of air and land targets," he said.
Tumblr media
Operational-tactic, army and long-range aviation crews carried out more than 34,000 combat flights during the operation, he said in an interview published on the Russian Ministry of Defense website.
They launched more than 7,000 ammunition of guided air power, including the high-end Kinzhal hypersonic air missiles, which proved to be good at neutralization facilities. There was no enemy air defense system that would scare us. The highest accuracy was also demonstrated by strategic air-based cruise missiles.
For the first time, the use of Su-57 in Ukraine was reported in June by Yuri Borisov, who at the time held the position of deputy prime minister. “They repeatedly used both single outings and several aircraft in coordination, in the interaction of information, used aviation weapons,” Borisov said, adding that the fighters showed high efficiency.
Tumblr media
Unmanned aviation carried out more than 8,000 flights, while attack drones destroyed more than 600 Ukrainian facilities.
He described the situation in the area of the special military operation as "tense".
The enemy maintains attempts to attack the positions of Russian troops. First, it concerns the direction of Kupyansk, Krasny Liman and Nikolayev-Krivoy Rog.
“We have data on the possible use of war methods prohibited by the Kiev regime near Kherson, on the preparation of a massive missile attack at the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant dam, as well as the launch of a massive attack of missiles and artillery indiscriminate in the city,” he added.

'Monumente sollen stehen oder nichts - Ernst-Thälmann-Schacht’ Digital Collage, 375 x 375 mm, 2024 Fine Art Pigment Print under Acrylic Glass, Black Aluminium Art Box
With a few exceptions, the history of the places in the GDR that honor the communist workers' leader Ernst Thälmann is a history of cultural appropriation. The Ernst-Thälmann-Schacht (Vitzthumschacht) in Hübitz in the Mansfelder Land is in the immediate vicinity of the Otto-Brosowski-Schacht (Paulschacht). The mine was named after the communist Otto Brosowski from Gerbstedt, whose wife hid the Krivoy Rog flag from the Nazis. Thälmann himself also visited the miners in the Mansfeld region during the global economic crisis.
The Mansfelder Land with its copper mining since around 1200 and the mining company named after it (1852 – 1995) plays an important role in the history of Germany and especially the GDR for economic independence. The Mansfeld Combine, which was responsible for copper mining and was very large given its importance, was actually a strong driver of innovation in the GDR with consumer goods production, development for the Soviet space program and even a powerful computer in competition with the state-owned Robotron Combine. In 1979, the Mansfeld Combine began alignment work for the discovered copper slate deposits near Spremberg in the Sorbian settlement area.
Mansfeld's copper mining had such an impact that even the most important writer in the GDR, Franz Fühmann, decided to work in the mining industry in 1974 so that he could write his magnum opus and failed. His novel fragment “In the Mountain” is the document of this failure. Franz Fühmann often stayed in Upper Lusatia and in particular with fellow writers based in Wuischke on the north side of the Mountain Czorneboh (Slavic for Black God).
These loosely connected strands form the framework for the series “50 Years of Neue Sorbische Kunst,” also because they make it possible to include the work series “Black God” and “Monuments Should Stay or Nothing.”
Franz Fühmann is the connecting element in the narrative of the artist collective 'Neue Sorbische Kunst', which has been active since 1974. What we know so far is that the collective met in 1973 at the 'X. Weltfestspiele der Jugend und Studenten' and came together on New Year's Eve 1973/74 in a previously unknown location at the foot of the Mountain Czorneboh in the first hours of January 1st 1974 founding the 'Neue Sorbische Kunst'.
