A/N: For @neohumanmonster's Born in Blood prompt! I don't know if I'll post the other prompts right away because I don't want to burn myself out, so I hope you'll enjoy that one in the meantime!
Tumblr media
“You do realize that there are two doctors in here, right?” you ask as you enter the room, not bothering to greet the man sitting on the examination table.
Sergeant Kim Young Hu’s eyes follow you as you walk to the sink to wash your hands. Around his bicep, a makeshift bandage seeped with red. By the looks of it, it isn’t the worst state you’ve seen him in.
“I’m not letting that lunatic touch me,” he answers, his voice calm, as it usually is, and you roll your eyes.
You’d be lying if you said you were a fan of Dr. Lim. You already had your issues with the man when you both worked for the government, before this all started. Once the Outbreak had begun, it had taken you forty-eight hours as his assistant before you had requested to start working out in the field. You’re well-aware of his shortcomings.
Unfortunately, and it stings to admit it, he’s one of the most competent doctors you’ve ever met. He’d be more than able to take care of the Sergeant.
“You do realize I have other things to do, right?”
“And I am deeply sorry to have taken you away from your fifth grade biology lessons.”
…Okay, he has a point. Finally done with your thorough handwashing — it’s not nearly as sanitizing as you’d like it to be, but it’s not like there’s a lot more you can do —, you come to stand in front of him.
“Does it hurt a lot?” you ask as you start undoing the bandage. At least working with the military means that the men all know what they’re doing in terms of first-aid.
“Could be worse. I think I just need stitches.”
You’d trust him, if it wasn’t for the fact that you’ve heard him say that about injuries that could have been fatal, had you not been there. In this case, though, you’re relieved to see it does look mostly fine. Whatever attacked him slashed through him, deep enough to be concerning but without actually damaging the muscle or hitting an important artery.
“What happened here?”
“One of the guys tried to take something from a monster,” the Sergeant Kim replies flatly. “I intervened.”
“Oh, it’s good it didn’t turn out worse, then?”
“Not really,” he says with a shrug. “The monster wasn’t violent until disturbed. This could have easily been avoided.”
“Sounds like your boys need a stern talking-to.”
While talking, you go fetch what you need. At least you’ve got everything required for something like stitching someone up, which you can’t say about most other ailments.
“I’ll handle that,” the Sergeant answers from behind you, and you smile. He exudes this quiet strength that you cannot help but be impressed by. His men would follow him to the end of the world and back, if he asked, and you can see why.
“Alright, well, you know the drill,” you tell him, coming back in front of him. “Think you’ll be okay?”
It’s silly to ask, with how often you’ve had to patch him or his men up. You’re well aware of his resistance to pain. Nonetheless, your training requires you ask, even if it’s no surprise when he nods in answer.
“Just go for it.”
You make quick and easy work of the wound. You focus on being fast and efficient rather than on lessening the pain, which you know is for the best with him. It’s not long before you’re setting your tools back down, done with your work. There are a few seconds during which the Sergeant takes the time to relax his jaw, to breathe in a couple of times, and then he nods at you.
“All done?” he asks.
“You’ll need to come back here so I can check on it,” you say. “And try not to put any strain yourself with that arm for a couple days, alright?”
He nods, but you don’t put much faith in that. As a soldier, you’d think he’d be good at following orders and, to be fair, you’ve heard he did an outstanding job most of the time. Unfortunately, your recommendations seemed to fall into deaf ears more often than not.
“Is that all?”
“Sure,” you say, even if his nonchalance exhausts you. “Hope I don’t see you here again for a good while.”
This, at least, brings a smile to his lips, and you try your best to suppress your shiver. He gets up from the table, and stands up, just inches from you. He’s so close, his torso almost brushes against your chest.
“Is that so, Doc?”
Damn that man.
“You know, if you keep this up, I’ll end up thinking you’re landing yourself in here on purpose,” you say.
The smile turns more amused.
“I would never endanger myself on purpose,” he tells you with disarming honesty. “But I’d be lying if I said I minded this kind of flesh wounds all that much these days.”
And before you can tell him just what you think of that, of course, he leans in to capture your lips. It’s not the first time. It doesn’t look like it will be the last time. And you’re in one of the very few rooms in the stadium that can actually lock.
Fuck it, you decide, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him closer to you. It doesn’t matter why the two of you play that game together, the people you shared a past with and that are long gone, the fact that this relationship was built on blood. What matters is that in his arms, for however long you get to have him, you forget that the world is doomed.
If him coming back for more over and over again is any indication, so does he.

hope you liked this, it's a little sillier than what i've written for the fandom so far, so that was fun to play with. i don't know if i'll write for other soldiers because most of them... didn't leave me much of an impression as far as their personality goes, but i tried something for sergeant kim ^-^ please consider leaving a comment or reblogging if you're enjoying my writing, interactions are what keep me motivated to write for a fandom!

“make sure to keep the wound as clean as you can, okay?” you smiled at the women in front of you before handing her some bandages “take these and change the dressing every two days”
“thank you, you’re always so kind” the lady thanked you before walking away.
with a smile you watched her walk away as your wrapped up for the day. being part of the platoon and being a doctor you split your responsibilities. some days you’d go out on expeditions to find supplies and other days you’d be on doctor duty, helping the civilians.
you wanted to make sure you were doing your part.
after packing up your supplies up and closing the infirmary, you headed to the platoon area. when you got there, most of the men were eating supper or waiting for their shirts to dry.
“oh it’s y/n. come eat with us!” seok-chan gestured for you to come over to where he and some of the other platoon members were eating.
you nodded with a grin before grabbing yourself a bowl of whatever they were serving and went to sit next to seok-chan.
“how’s my favourite military doctor doing?” he gently elbowed your side and you chuckled.
“i am very good. i just can’t wait to go back to my room and sleep later though” you answered dramatically putting your head on seok-chan’ shoulder.
“busy day, huh?” he nudged you slightly and you lifted your head.
“don’t even get me started but anyway enough about me. what did you get up to today? find yourself a girlfriend yet?”
“ahh no way. you know i could never date unless the sarge decides to. that will never happen though”
“that’s right. the sarge is too serious to start dating anyone” seo-jin chimed in.
“please, the sarge will never find someone. he’s too uptight and cold. i mean, he literally doesn’t even talk to me! how rude can someone even-“ you complained but seok-chan suddenly cleared his throat causing you to stop talking.
you twisted your head slightly and saw yeong-hu stood a meter away with his arms crossed looking at you.
“i think you should stop worrying about such trivial matters and focus on doing your appointed jobs miss y/l/n. you’re on washing up duty and there’s a big pile waiting for you to clean” yeong-hu said before walking away.
when he was a safe distance away, you sighed aloud.
“he heard all of it, didn’t he?” you held your head low “god, he didn’t like me much before. i bet now he’s likes me even less”
“it’s not that bad y/n. you know how the sarge is…” seok-chan made an attempt to try and make you feel better but it was not working.
sergeant kim yeong-hu just didn’t like you and you didn’t know why.
the following day, you woke up nice and early. you were going to be going on an expedition with the platoon. after getting your gear you went to the main platoon area. most of the members were still getting themselves ready and you joined jin-ho who was doing his usual tech things.
“i don’t know how you do all this. there’s about a hundred wires” you commented watching jin-ho attach one wire onto another.
“it’s easy once you know what is what” he said and briefly looked at you.
“right..are you thinking of growing your hair out again?”
“not any time soon. it’s easier if it’s just short…” jin-ho answered running a hand over his head “i do like how it looks when it’s longer but-"
he abruptly stopped speaking as his eyes widened slightly. he then cleared his throat and turned his focus back to what he was originally doing.
“if you don’t mind y/n, let’s talk later im busy right now” he said in a serious tone and you awkwardly nodded.
it wasn’t until you got up from your seat next to jin-ho that you realised why he was acting in such a weird way. when you got up and turned on your heel, you saw yeong-hu stood nearby. he had a stern look on his face and spoke once you saw him.
“any luck jin-ho?” yeong-hu said aloud “i hope you’re not getting distracted by certain people”
yeong-hu kept his eyes on you as he looked you up and down as you walked past him. you did your best to hide the fact he was slightly intimidating and went to go sit with some of the other platoon members.
-later-
you made sure to be on your best behaviour when on the expedition to get supplies. you didn’t want to get onto yeong-hu’ bad side.
“let’s split into two groups, that way we can cover more ground. this is a wholesale store so there should be plenty for us to get. seok-chan, seo-jin, jin-ho and y/n come with me to cover the second floor of the building and the rest of you cover the ground floor” yeong-hu ordered and soon enough the group was split into two.
yeong-hu led from the front with seo-jin behind him. you were behind seo-jin and at the back was seok-chan. you all quietly made your way to the second floor, the concrete floors and walls in the staircase area were covered in some thick brown substance and the smell was sickly.
“stay cautious. we don’t know what creature could’ve done this” yeong-hu looked back briefly before continuing forward.
“ah what’s that fucking smell. it’s so bad” seo-jin cursed.
“man up seo-jin, it’s not that bad” seok-chan let out a chuckle and you couldn’t help but giggle slightly.
seo-jun shot you both a quick glare.
“seriously, what monster did all of this though” you breathed out as you all approached the top of the stairs “it’s disgusting”
“focus! we are about to enter the second floor” yeong-hu suddenly snapped and you gulped with a small nod.
you didn’t understand why he was so cold to you. you tried your best not to dwell on it though. you had to focus on the task at hand.
you held your gun close as you followed the others as you all entered the second floor.
yeong-hu and seo-jin covered the right side while you and seok-chan covered the left.
“clear!” you called out as seo-jin did the same.
“let’s all split up. look for any supplies you think we need. keep within ear reach of each other” yeong-hu announced.
“we can’t be sure there’s no monster here so keep your eyes peeled and call out if you need help” seok-chan tapped your shoulder, and you sent him a quick nod as you all then went separate ways.
you went straight to what looked like an area with a bunch of medical supplies.
“bingo!” you smiled to yourself, quickly making sure the area was safe before getting your hand torch out and putting your gun down. you placed the torch on the shelf so that it would illuminate the area as much as possible.
after filling your bag to the brim with different medical supplies, you began to make way to see if maybe there was anything else. you made your way over to a check out counter and began rummaging through the draws underneath, checking to see if maybe there was anything useful. you crouched down and held the torch in your mouth as you needed both hands free. it was practical.
as you continued to rummage through the draws, you heard a scraping sound and your head immediately shot up. you took the torch from your mouth and held it in the direction where you thought you heard the scraping was coming from. you took a deep breath in trying to stop yourself from reacting badly as you noticed a creature that had a human head, a human upper torso but the rest of its body was a centipede body climbing up the wall.
luckily, it hadn’t seen you.
you tactically turned off your torch and stayed crouched as you made your way to try and find the others. you couldn’t exactly radio any of them or call out to them because then it meant the monster would know you were there.
you barely made it a meter or two away before, you heard footsteps approaching. it was yeong-hu. he was walking in the direction of where the creature was.
“stop” you whispered as loud as you could while waving your arms to try and get his attention.
he at first didn’t notice you but when he did, your eyes widened as you realised hanging above him was the creature.
“what are you-” he raised an eyebrow but was cut off at the half centipede creature jumped on his back. yeong-hu fell to the ground and the creature
you immediately got up and rushed to help yeong-hu. you had your knife in hand and pierced it through the creatures chest. it shrieked in pain and then turned to look at you. the head of the creature had large teeth, that resembled fangs and its eyes were pure black. it hissed and lunged towards you.
you felt its full weight on top of you and it held you down as its teeth sunk down on your shoulder. you released an ear piercing scream as pain shot through your body. you didn’t stop trying to push it off of you and soon all you could hear was gunshots and eventually the weight that was once on you disappeared.
“y/n!” you heard yeong-hu’ voice yell as your eyes became heavy.
“sarge..i” you just about managed to say before everything went black.
when you woke up, you were in your room back at the stadium. you couldn’t remember how you had gotten back. you tried to sit up but felt a sharp pain in your left shoulder and remembered the hideous creature that had bitten you. your shoulder was now bandaged up and you were in your pjs.
you noticed on your bedside table that your radio was there so you carefully went to reach for it. you then turned it on and spoke into it.
“hello? is anyone there? seok-chan?” you said into it but no one answered.
maybe they were busy?
with a sigh, you let yourself fall back onto your pillow. you were in a lot of pain. you closed your eyes and tried to see if you could remember what had happened after the creature had bitten you but it was of no use.
after a couple of minutes, you heard your door swing open and you lifted your head. you saw that it was yeong-hu.
it took you by surprise that it was him so you quickly sat up, ignoring the pain you were in. you cleared your throat and smiled politely at him.
“sergeant kim” you greeted but by his facial expression, you could tell he wasn’t in the mood.
what possibly could’ve made him in such a sour mood?
“how careless could you have been?” he suddenly raised his voice causing you to flinch in shock “do you know the position you put yourself in? you can’t just put yourself in harms way! do you understand how it affects the team? i had the situation handled and because you decided to step in. you not only hurt yourself but we had to leave the expedition early!”
you felt tears swell in your eyes. how cold could he be?
you only wanted to save his life. it wasn’t like you planned on getting hurt.
“im sorry sergeant” you voice was quiet. you didn’t want to argue and make things worse.
“sorry doesn’t cut it y/n! you’re a part of the crow platoon. you should know not to be so careless! i’m relieving you from your platoon duties. from now on just focus on providing medical attention to those who need it.” yeong-hu’ voice was harsh.
“you know what? i give up with you sar- to you, i can never do anything right. you’re always to cold and rude towards me! I’ve done everything in power to get you to try to like me and treat me like you do with the other platoon guys but it’s clear that i’ll never get your respect. so you can relieve me of whatever duties you want because i give up! now please get out of my room” you finally snapped, tears were streaming down you eyes now.
you dont know what overcame you but you stood up, ignoring all the pain in your shoulder and began to push yeong-hu out the room.
“get out” you were trying not to yell and eventually he walked out. you slammed the door behind him and broke down some more.
why was he so cold towards you.
the next couple of days, you avoided the platoon members as best as you could. you couldn’t handle facing them, especially yeong-hu. you felt embarrassed about everything that happened. seok-chan tried his best to talk to you and you appreciated it. you just didn’t want to get involved with the platoon, now that yeong-hu had basically banned you.
you got back to your doctor duties the day after your confrontation with yeong-hu. you wanted to keep yourself occupied. at first it was difficult due to your shoulder injury but you soon managed to navigate your way and treat the patients with one hand.
“it sounds like a vitamin deficiency to me, which can happen in these circumstances. take one of these pills everyday for the next two weeks” you told the guy in front of you as you handed him a bottle of vitamin pills “if after two weeks, you still have symptoms then come back and let me know”
the guy you helped quickly thanked you before leaving and you sighed. you were working longer hours in the infirmary now that it was the only thing you would be doing. you checked the time and saw it was quite late so you decided to call it a day.
you closed the infirmary door and put the sign up to say it was closed for the day and went to examine your own shoulder. this was the last thing you needed to do for the day. you replaced the bandage every day, you didn’t want to risk getting any infections but it was a hard job each time and it was never wrapped as tight as it should be.
you threw your shirt off leaving you in just your tank top. you held your breath as you began to peel away the bandages from the wound. after successfully removing it, you then grabbed some sterile water to flush the would out. this proved difficult to do. but you managed.
just as you were about to apply some cotton with some antiseptic solution on it, the door to the infirmary opened and when you looked to see who it was you gulped.
yeong-hu.
once he noticed you he turned on his heel to walk out again. you breathed out a small sigh as you turned your focus back to your shoulder. however, he then paused and turned back towards you, this time walking to you. you were too busy trying to apply the cotton.
you grit your teeth as it burnt ever so slightly and you jumped in shock after realising yeong-hu was now stood beside you.
“let me help” his voice was firm.
“i’ll be fine” you whispered not looking at him.
“y/n let me help” this time you gave in.
you let out a sigh and nodded. you hoisted your body onto the infirmary table and let yeong-hu give a hand. his touch was soft as he gently applied the antiseptic cotton onto your shoulder. his fingers occasionally grazed over parts of your neck and you held your breath as he began to wrap the main bandage over to cover your shoulder completely.
you couldn’t help but to notice yeong-hu’ facial features as he did this. was he always this good looking? his eyes remained focused in your shoulder, you never noticed how soft and round they were. his hands, delicately placing the bandage around your shoulder. you never noticed how large and gentle they were.
your heart was beating fast and you didn’t know why. once he was done putting the bandage on your shoulder. he traced his fingers over the bandage, proud of how neatly he did it. yeong-hu looked up at you and your eyes locked with his for a second. he then stepped back and rested his hands on his hips, clearing his throat.
“thank you” you whispered carefully putting your shirt back on.
“you’re welcome..look, y/n” he began and then let out a sigh “im really sorry for how i treated you. i respect you a lot, really. it’s not an excuse but i have a lot to handle right now and i can’t bare losing anyone else. so when you got hurt i took all my anger out in that moment and i shouldn’t have”
“i appreciate your apology but it doesn’t explain why you’ve always been so cold towards me. I’ve done everything in my power to try and prove myself but it never seems like enough” you felt yourself become emotional.
yeong-hu stepped closer to you, closing the gap that was between the two of you.
“trust me you’re enough. y/n you’re way more than enough” yeong-hu took your hand in his.
you both stared at each other, your heart thumped inside your chest as yeong-hu looked between your eyes and lips. you swallowed hard as yeong-hu then leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours.
you lifted a hand and placed it on his chest, debating if you were going to push him away but instead you felt yourself leaning into the kiss. yeong-hu’ hands moved slowly down your back to your hips and your one arm moved to wrap loosely around his neck. the position was a bit awkward since you couldn’t move your one arm but that didn’t matter. you both couldn’t get enough of each others lips. the kiss was filled with passion, love and need.
when yeong-hu finally pulled away, you were both slightly out of breath. you couldn’t help but break into a smile as yeong-hu let out a relieved sigh.
“wow” you said aloud, looking at yeong-hu.
he rubbed the back of neck as he then let out a happy chuckle before being serious again.
“y/n, i really like you. i’ve liked you since i met you and i can never get you out of my head. i don’t know if you feel the same but even if you don’t, please give me a chance to put everything right and show you how much i care for you” he put a hand on your leg and gently rubbed circles.
“i like you too yeong-hu. i always have, that’s why i always tried so hard to get you to like me like you did the others” you put your hand atop of his “of course you can have a chance…just don’t blow it”
“i wouldn’t dare”

Hmm, If Seok-chan were to die, I fuckin hope Yeong-hu mourns like a man who just lost his beloved wife. I need him to scream. I need him to wail. I need him to cry his eyes out. I need him depressed. I need him to be a madman. I need him to kill everyone!! Also, I want Seok-chan's ghost to haunt him. (I love Yeong-hu pls)
I swear they're precious to me. I just need this trope man. I need it.
If they erase Seok-chan and Yeong-hu's relationship, I am coming for your family writer and director.

posting about sweet home s2 on here (and not on my main blog) just because what's under the cut is military related.
ignore this post if you didn't watch s2 or the whole series yet and don't want spoilers/if you're not interested in it!
bad english ahead
you don't understand. yeong-hu has got feelings for seo-jin, not for seok-chan - he does have feelings for seok-chan, sure, but they're not love feelings (not yet, at least). sergeant kim said yong-seok would've returned to the stadium on his own, he didn't want to search for him at first 'cause he didn't think yong-seok was lost, but... listen to me: yeong-hu started wanting to find sergeant major choi when he saw seo-jin was desperate about his "disappearance". he cares about yong-seok and he would've searched for him anyway at some point, but he insisted to go and search for him because of sergeant min. kim is scared that seo-jin's anger and worry are gonna turn him into a monster, he's scared to lose him and that's the main reason he wants to find yong-seok. no matter what it takes.
the fact is seok-chan's always there with him, for him, and yeong-hu starts to notice a certain behaviour and to hear some words that come out the private's mouth that make the sergeant think. he realizes seok-chan has got feelings for him and that's the beginning of it all, imho.
in the s02ep04 we can see how yeong-hu looks at seok-chan when the latter is babbling about him not having a girlfriend, a person to love. the sergeant is thinking so hard, he's like "why does he care so much, though? is it because... ? no, it's not", but then we see the "higher power" scene in the s02ep08 and when yeong-hu tells seok-chan to shut up (fondly) it's as clear as water that he got it. how his eyes softens; how he cannot bring himself to look at seok-chan for a second more, so he lowers his gaze; how he finally understands his private is in love with him, but he can't help being in love with someone else (who doesn't love him back, who doesn't even know).
don't despair, though, 'cause my brain's telling me yeong-hu will snap out of his feelings for seo-jin, realize he's always got feelings for seok-chan and, eventually, they'll live happily ever after

Are you dating anyone, Sarge? A lot of our boys are seeing someone on the down low, you know what I'm saying? Are you? I can't. Unless you start dating. I can't wreck the chain of command. I feel no need for it. Is it because you couldn't find the right person?"

everyday was the same thing, wake up, stand in line for roll call and do your part to help with the survival of the group. the crow platoons ensured safety but supplies were running low.
before everything happened, you were a doctor and had served some time in the military as a doctor too. you kept that second part a secret though. you refused to get involved with the crow platoon in that aspect. they were usually looking to get more people with military experience to join them.
you were quite happy just being like everyone else and doing doctor duties when people really needed it. supplies were always low for what you did and you found yourself just making do with anything.
the morning started like all others. people doing little things they were assigned to do. then the announcement for roll call was made and you lined up with everyone. the crow platoon were going on an expedition for more supplies.
everyone stood in line as members of the crow platoon did their checks. they needed to make sure everyone was accounted for before they left.
you were stood with yeong-su and jin-ok. yeong-su had a baseball in his hand and was throwing it up and down.
“you should stop before they see” you told yeong-su to which he rolled his eyes and continued throwing his ball, that was until he dropped it.
the sound of the ball rolling seemed to be the only sound until it came to a stop. it had hit the shoes of one of the crow platoon soldiers. the soldier u-seok picked the ball up and yeong-su started to get upset.
“give it back to me! give it back!” yeong-su complained trying to reach up and grab the ball but the soldier held it higher.
suddenly, then the soldier grabbed a hold of yeong-su’ arm and held it in place.
“when did he get this scar?” u-seok questioned.
“it’s from last night” jin-ok chimed in and began to hold onto yeong-su.
“it looks fresher than that” u-seok tightened his grip on the young boy.
“sir, it doesn’t seem serious” the other soldier chan-young said looking between the two.
“what would you know about it? we have to be sure” u-seok then took out his knife and tried to cut yeong-su.
“just. just let him go. he’s just a child..ok?” jin-ok held yeong-su protectively.
“kids can be monsters too. there’s no exceptions”
“then let jin-ok do it herself” you stepped forward and jin-ok nodded profusely.
“yes, i’ll do it myself” jin-ok addded.
“you should’ve done it last night” the soldier then tried to cut yeong-su.
before he could make contact with the young boys skin, you stopped him. you stood forward and held onto the knife. your hand wrapped around the sharp blade and you did a manoeuvre to get the knife from the guard.
you held the knife up to his throat, your hand was covered in blood but you didn’t care. u-seok was acting like an ass and needed to be taught a lesson.
“maybe you should start doing your job properly and focus on more important things like getting more medical supplies rather than picking on a little kid” you said through grit teeth putting the knife down.
“you think you’re so tough huh?” u-seok snatched the knife from you and then latched his hand onto your top.
“sir, we have other important matters” chan-young tried to step in.
“you finish up here, im taking this one to sarge. then we’ll see if she has anything more to say”
you then found yourself being dragged with full force through the various halls. u-seok kept his grip on you and even though you tried to push him away from you, it was no use.
eventually, you reached the area where the crow platoon gather together and get set up for their expeditions. the room was full of some of the other soldiers
“let go of me asshole!” you cursed at him and he then threw you to the floor.
you landed on the cold floor and winced slightly as you tried to get up. you hand was still bloody and sore from earlier.
“what’s this?” sergeant kim (yeong-hu) walked in, his eyes focused to you.
“sarge, this one here managed to get a hold of my knife and held it to my throat. she’s definitely hiding something!” u-seok said loudly.
“this isn’t how we treat people u-seok. doesn’t matter what they’ve done” yeong-hu walked up to you and held his hand out.
you glared at him before getting up yourself. you didn’t need his hand.
“i haven’t done anything wrong. your poor excuse of a soldier u-seok picked on a little kid today. so all i did was tell him to focus on more important things like getting more supplies. especially medical supplies” you defended yourself and decided to speak your mind. “we have sick people and they need treatment. honestly i haven’t seen anything this bad ever since i served-“
you soon stopped yourself after realising you had just exposed yourself. god, you only hoped he wasn’t listening to that last part.
“served? are you telling me that you used to be in the military?” yeong-hu folded his arms and you meekly nodded.
there was no use lying now.
“go get ready” yeong-hu told you firmly and you raised an eyebrow.
“for what?” you questioned. why did you have to get ready.
“just get ready and then we’ll talk…?” he looked at you and you said your name.
“y/n…” he then said before brushing you aside and turning to his men “everyone we leave in five minutes. be ready.”
you now found yourself sat in the backseat of a military truck with yeong-hu and one of his other men named seok-chan in the front. your hand was now wrapped too and you had your bag with you. your own personal knife hiding in the front pocket just in case.
“where are you going to take me?” you questioned.
“you suggested that we need more medical supplies, you must know where we can find some” yeong-hubanswered while looking at a map in his hands. he didn’t bother looking at you.
you were being weary. what if he was lying? but also why would they bring you? you could’ve just marked a map up for them.
you remained silent as you waited for some of the other soldiers of crow platoon to get into the other vehicles.
“are you dating anyone sarge?” seok-chan smirked “a lot of our boys are seeing someone on the down low, you know?”
“are you?” yeong-hu responded.
“i cant. unless you start dating, i can’t wreck the chain of command”
“i feel no need for it”
“is it because you couldn’t find the right person?..it’s just, well i’ve been thinking and i mean you’re good looking and a survivor, you’re good at killing monsters and as a leader. you’re a prize catch in today’s standards. so, why can’t you get a girl? don’t you think y/n?”
you scoffed “as if anyone would want someone as cold and confusing as your sergeant”
yeong-hu turned his head and shot you a stern look at seok-chan awkwardly laughed.
“she’s probably just joking sarge” he cleared his throat as yeong-hu glared at him “let’s just focus on the mission”
“good idea” you added.
-time skip (im sorry im feeling lazy💀)-
you hated to admit it but going on the expedition with the crow platoon guys was actually pretty interesting and fun. it was the first time in god knows how long that you actually went outside and got hands on.
it was currently raining and you were taking in every second of it as you packed the final bits of medical supplies you had found.
“thank you” you said loudly to yeong-hu and he turned to look at you “really thank you”
yeong-hu was just about to respond but suddenly a loud explosion was heard. everyone’s heads turned to where the sound had come from.
“that came from camp, right?” seok-chan said.
“we need to prepare to head back!” yeong-hu called out loud to everyone and everyone began to get into the trucks.
it was decided to draw the monsters away from the stadium. the crow platoon had a plan, the only problem was that they didn’t get you involved.
“give me a gun. i can help” you demanded.
“forget it. i let you come to help look for supplies, that’s all. leave the rest to us” yeong-hu then opened the truck door for you to get inside.
with a loud huff you gave in and sat in the truck at the platoon men did their thing. once it was over, you found yourself back at the stadium.
you followed yeong-hu and the rest of the platoon members back into camp. you held your bag full of medical supplies on your shoulders, already thinking of places to store your new items.
as you continued on, seargent tak appeared.
“ten hut!” he called out and everyone around you turned to focus on him.
“sir, what was that explosion i heard?” yeong-hu asked stepping forward.
“a women tried to run and triggered a mine earlier. it exploded before we could properly defuse it” sergeant tak explained.
“which platoon member was overseeing them?”
from behind seargent tak, chan-young had approached them.
“I was in charge sir” chan-young stood straight “im private park”
you liked chan-young. he was by far the nicest platoon member out of them all. you didn’t know him well but from what you had seen before, he didn’t have a bad bone in his body.
“it’s behind us now. we moved on” sergeant tak told yeong-hu.
“and the runner? removed. i assume, huh? park chan-young!” yeong-hu was clearly pissed.
“she was showing monster symptoms so we isolated her” chan-young said.
“isolated?” yeong-hu raised an eyebrow.
“i insisted we keep her here.”’
once chan-young said those words, yeong-hu lost it and punched him. he fell into some old metal barrels but stood straight after a second so, yeong-hu punched him again- even harder. chan-young finally fell to the floor and he received a foot to the stomach.
“are you crazy? stop!” you yelled pushing yeong-hu so that he wouldn’t hurt chan-young any further.
“you stay out of this” yeong-hu grit his teeth, his stare like daggers.
if looks could kill, you would’ve been dead.
he then stormed off and you shook your head disappointedly as you helped chan-young get up.
———————————————————————————————
over the next few days, you noticed yeong-hu around. whenever he locked eyes with you, you’d pretend to not notice and whenever it was roll call you’d hope that it wouldn’t be him doing the checks. luckily for you it wasn’t him.
you couldn’t get him out of your head. he’d made an impression on you. good or bad? you didn’t know which one yet. but it was definitely a strong impression. you knew that.
“come with me” one of the platoon members had come to grab you.
“what for?” you were curious. after all, it had come out of no where.
“just come” the member said and began to walk away.
with a sigh you decided to follow.
“through there” the member then gestured for you to go in.
with a gulp, you pushed the door open and stepped inside. and there was yeong-hu. he had his hands on his hips while staring at a map up on a board, his head flicked in your direction and he then turned his full attention to you.
“where have your friends eun-yu and chan-young gone? they’re missing from roll call” yeong-hu asked while looking you up and down.
“how would i know where they are? i don’t keep tabs on them” you shrugged and paused “but…even if i did know, what makes you think i’d tell you. huh?”
“y/n i don’t have time for your childish games. you need to tell me straight if you know where they went”
“i just told you. i don’t know. i didn’t even know they were missing…now, can i go?”
yeong-hu nodded his head and you kissed your teeth as you turned to walk out the room. you were then stopped as you felt a hand on you. the force of the hand made you spin around to face yeong-hu. he was closer than before and you gulped as he scanned your face.
“if you see your friends, you need to tell me immediately” he told you and you nodded lightly.
your heart was beating fast because of how close he was and his hand was oddly warm and soft.
when you finally left the room, you couldn’t help but feel hot. your heart was still beating extremely fast and you hadn’t realised before but yeong-hu was actually really attractive.
stop! you told yourself.
you can’t like him.
you don’t like him.
the rest of the day passed by extremely slowly and you tried to distract yourself by doing different chores. none of it seemed to work as your mind constantly wandered back to one specific person.
that same person also couldn’t get you out of his head. he was trying to focus on his duties but you were constantly lingering in his mind. there was something about you. he couldn’t put his finger on it but he knew he had strong feelings for you. he just didn’t know if they were good or bad.
you tried sleeping. but you couldn’t. instead you were stuck tossing and turning trying to force yourself. it wasn’t working.
after sitting up, you slipped your shoes on and made your way to the crow platoon area. there was only one way to get your mind off that one person. you needed to face your feelings.
you wondered back to the room from earlier. your palms became sweaty once you were stood directly outside the door and your heart began to race. with whatever courage in you, you knocked lightly on the door and when you heard yeong-hu’ voice. you entered.
“y/n, it’s you” yeong-hu was slightly taken aback “have you found out where your friends went?”
you shook your head “sorry, no. i just couldn’t sleep. im guessing it’s the same for you too?”
“oh uh yeah, there’s a lot on my mind”
a silence then filled the room. you suddenly didn’t know what to say. for a while you both then didn’t say a word to one another.
“i should go. you must have a lot of things to do” you awkwardly tried to make an excuse to leave and began to head to the door.
“stay” yeong-hu’ voice was firm and you paused in your tracks.
“what?” you questioned not daring to turn around.
“stay y/n” he repeated.
“i should get going.” you reached forward to grab the door handle.
without warning, yeong-hu stood in front of you and was now blocking the door.
“y/n, there’s something about you. i don’t quite understand it. even when you’re not there, you linger in my mind. i think about you and i shouldn’t.” yeong-hu’ confession caught you off guard.
“what are you saying?” you breathed out, unable to say anything else.
“i like you”
as soon as he said those words you felt a weight being lifted off your shoulders.
he had made it easy for you and your feelings towards him were now clear too.
“i like you too” you couldn’t help the smile that appeared on your face.
yeong-hu brought his hand up to your cheek and gently cupped up. he looked between your eyes and your lips for permission and when you nodded lightly, he leaned forward and pressed your lips together.
and for once everything just felt right.

It's kinda insane how there are people who hate the Seok-chan/Yeong-hu ship. Like damn, chill. You guys are probably the same person who shipped Park Yuri and Pyeon Sangwook together. Be serious. Yeong-hu literally said that he was not interested in dating(a girl), and Seok-chan said he won't date if his Sergeant won't. So, why are you hating? They're clearly fond of each other enough to make that speech. Yeah, it can be platonic, familial, bromance, or whatever. But if you don't like it, don't engage in it? What's so damn hard? Why are you so bitter? It's a good ship anyway. It's unproblematic, they're the closest to each other, they have the chemistry and tension, and they even shared a cigarette. Who knows what other things they shared :) . Most importantly, BOTH OF THEM ARE ADULT AND NOT RELATED. I'm sorry, but Park Yuri literally looks like she's around 18-20. Meanwhile, Pyeon Sangwook is probably in his 40s. Where's the same energy for them?? "Stop shipping same-sex characters!! They're just friends!!" I can swear to you that it's not that deep. But if it's an opposite sex- [GNSHOTS]
