a puff of smoke left your lips as you settled back against the bright orange hood of kevin’s pontaic. the man in question, seated right beside you. fingers hovering close to your joint-filled hand to take his turn.
the two of you had driven out to the lake for a day of fun, or in kevin’s case, a day of relaxation with his favorite person. he hadn’t planned too much of the day, wanting to let the day and the moods take you were you wanted to go.
and having already eaten, watching the sunset at the lake seemed like the perfect place to smoke your heart away. however, as more time had passed, the more the water seemed to call to you.
you gazed over at kevin, rolling to look him in the eyes as a smile creeped onto your face, “what to get in the water with me?” he chuckled, smiling as you put on your best set of pleading eyes in an effort to convince him, “not doing any water today, babe.”
“well, if you aren’t, i am.” you jumped from the hood of the car,  smiling as you unbutton your jeans, shaking your head at kevin’s sharp whistle. kicking them off your feet before moving on to your top, letting the garment join your jeans and shoes.
shooting a quick wink in kevin’s direction before you go running down the dock, yelling as you jump into the water. the cold water soaks you to the bone and when you resurface for air, you catch the tail end of kevin’s laughter, “you’re crazy, babe! how’s it feel?”
“like it’s missing something.” you winked, “i’m not getting in the water, babe. no matter how much you pout about it.” he watched you pout, having already learned your tricks and ways of getting him to do what you had planned, “not even... if i do this?” with your raised brow, you drop you hands below the water and after a short twist, your panties and bra are dropped on the wooden decking. a teasing, yet proud smile tugging at your lips as you hear him groan, “not fair, princess.”
you mentally cheer as he stands from his seat position atop the hood, joint still nestled between his lips as he begins to undress. his clothes slowly starting to join yours before he’s bare. he walks down to the edge of the dock, placing the joint between your lips, “hold onto this for me, yeah?” before he’s backing up down the dock to run and jump into the water as you had done previously.
he resurfaces, wading over to you with a dazzling smile as he pushes his hair away from his face, “fancy seeing you here.” you hum appreciatively as hands ghost along your sides, a puff of smoke drifting between the two of you as the joint is plucked from your lips.
the two of you wad in the water just as the sun begins to set, small kisses and caresses are shared before the prospect of getting home too late weighs in. and the two of you begrudgingly get out of the water and redressed.
its silent once you are seated back in the car, hands clasped together and resting on the middle console. the car engine turns over, and just as you buckle your seatbelt, kevin leans across the seat to press a hot kiss to your lips, “thanks for the fun night, princess. we should definitely do this again sometime.”
“well, we do have the whole summer.” you smirk, pressing your lips to his once more as the car starts to move, headed back toward the main road leading into town.

NSFW Headcanons~ Kevin Pickford
Tumblr media
(Not my gif)(Requested by anonymous)
- Kevin’s a whore, plain and simple. The man sells drugs and hosts tons of parties; he’s gotten around. There’s no denying it unless you want to argue that he’s just been with the same person ...a lot.
- When you’re going down on him, he likes when you kiss his chest and stomach. He’ll curse softly as you do so, his head tilted back and his arms wrapped around the back of the couch.
- A skilled tongue, skilled fingers; a generous man. All such good qualities that he possesses...
- He’s not like a huge fan of foreplay but he doesn’t necessarily mind it. He likes nibbling, sucking, and grinding but he also sometimes just wants to get to it, you know?
- There aren’t really “roles” that the two of you always play when you’re with each other. One minute he’s the more dominant one, the next you are. I suppose he likes being the one in charge more but it really doesn’t matter to him.
- How the two of you act when you’re with each other really just depends on the mood and how sober either of you are.
- If he’s just toked up then he’s going to be all relaxed and take things slow, nuzzling against you as he goes as deep inside of you as he can.
- He likes when you ride him; especially when you’re both a little blazed. He’ll rest his chin up against your chest, his arms wrapped around you in a hug and his hips driving up into yours.
- Cockwarming. The two of you definitely cuddle while he’s still inside of you, it’s very relaxing.
- If he’s more sober then he’ll move faster, stealing kisses and occasionally just ...going to town on you. He’ll turn your knees to jelly, I’ll promise you that.
- He likes doggystyle when he’s the one in control. He likes being able to hold your hips and pull you back onto him.
- Theres always some kind of rock music playing in the background whenever you’re together.
- Car sex. What better memories to make in such a killer car?
- Slipping away from parties for a quickie.
- Anal. For lack of a better phrase, a holes a hole; and the fact that you’ve probably never done it with anybody else is also a plus.
- The moans and groans he lets out are honestly enough to make you lose control all on their own.
- Tug on his hair and watch him go! Hair pulling is definitely a kink of his.
- Another kink, you pretending to sleep with him for “the goods”. He likes it in the playful sense, the chuckled out “what will you give me in return” and your obviously put on and not serious responses. He thinks it’s both funny and hot.
- The mans got inches. He’s “big” in the length department more than anything but you certainly aren’t going to complain.
- He’s one of those guys who don’t care about the fact that his dick has just been inside you. He has no problem pulling out and eating you out whenever he sees fit. It’s just his dick afterall.
- When he’s about to finish, he’ll usually pull out and cum on your stomach. He prefers going in raw so I recommend birth control; or just saying no since he’ll accept that without another word.
- He’s not a very “lovey dovey” sort of guy when it comes to aftercare so he’ll usually just wrap an arm around you, maybe light up, and/or rest his head against yours.

NSFW Alphabet with Ron Slater
Tumblr media
A/N: No one has done anything for this character yet, so here you go. :)
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
Slater is the sweetest. After sex, he would always ask if you were okay. He would bring you some water and a cloth to clean yourself. He would always want you close to him. He would roll a joint for the both of you to share. You two would just smoke and speak sweet nothings in each other’s ears. After a while, you hold him into a tight embrace and tell each other how much you love each other.
B = Body part (Favorite body part of theirs and also their fave body part belonging to their partner)
To Slater, everything about you was perfect. But if he had a favorite body part of yours, it would be your thighs. Your thighs were so soft and he loved how it cushions his face when he goes down on you. Your favorite of his body was his hands. His skillful fingerwork alone would make you climax.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically)
He likes to release on your stomach and breasts. The beautiful sight of your covered in glistening sweat and his seed turns him on all over again. He also likes when you swallow.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Slater is would never keep a sexual secret from you. You were a person that is easy to talk to and open minded. Since he is the same way, he’s quite open with speaking of sexual things. He loves talking dirty and seeing you squirm.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
Slater has some experience. As he stated, he wanted someone with quality. He wants someone who could match his energy when it came to this topic. Lucky for him, you were the perfect match. You both had enough experience to please each other.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
He actually has two positions that he truly loves. His number one fave is the classic missionary. He loves to share kisses and moans with you as he penetrated you. His second favorite position is when you straddle him. He could grab your hips and guide you up and down his cock.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
Slater can be a goofball during sex sometimes. He says some of the weirdest and funniest things during sex. He loves it when he makes you laugh in the moment. Your laugh was music to his ears. For the most part, he is very serious when it comes to sex. He’s gets deep and lost in you. He’s in love with the way you feel underneath him, how you react to his touch and he sounds you make when he’s taking you so good or the sounds you make when he’s taking you so good and how you feel wrapped around him.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
Slater is a little on the lazy side, but for someone like he manages to keep himself groomed. He trims every once in a while, so he is fairly groomed.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
Slater is really romantic in the moment. Sex is very intimate for him and for you. He tries to always make it about you and your pleasure. Moments like these make both of you realize how lucky you two are to have each other.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
He jacks off every other day. He loves to look at the polaroid that he took of you to help him jack off. It was such a pretty picture of you. The sight of you topless and vulnerable in his bed.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
Slater loves cockwarming. When he’s too tired to move around so much or he just wants to relax, he’ll let you warm his cock. Sometimes he lets you make it more exciting and allows you to touch yourself or play with your clit while he stays inside you. You make him cum a few times like that, all the while without moving or thrusting inside you.
Slater also has the biggest worship kink. He loves to hear you tell him how huge he is, how good he is doing, and most importantly when you thank him for how good he makes you feel.
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
He prefers doing it in the bedroom out of all places now. You did it in the car plenty of times and in an open field while stargazing. But one time, you two did do it in the back of Pickford’s car one time at a party, but you both ended up getting caught. Ever since, the bedroom was the only acceptable place for the two of you.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
He love watching you dance at parties. The way you move always turns him. He would join you to and you would move onto each other, fluid with each others movements. Right after these dances, you two would definitely have sex. He also loves seeing you wear his shirts with just your panties underneath.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
He’s up for anything. As long as it’s not harmful. He’d never want to hurt you. Bondage is a big no for him. He doesn’t like orgasm denials either.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
He prefers receiving over giving. The sight of you with his cock in your mouth is the hottest thing ever. The feeling of your tongue swiping over his length drives him crazy. He loves giving and he’s pretty good at it. His tongue flicks in amazing motions while working with his fingers.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
He’s a total softie, so he likes to take his sweet precious time with you. The majority of the time, he’s passionate and slow. If you want him to be rough, he is willing to do so.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
He’s not a big fan of quickies. He likes to take his time with you.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
He’s willing to try new things as long as you’re comfortable with it. He just won’t participate in anything that is harmful to you or him.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
Most of the time, he can only go for 1 round. Sometimes, he can do 2. Overall, sex is pretty energy-consuming for him.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
He’s not a fan of using toys. He wants to be the one doing all the pleasuring for you.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
He doesn’t do teasing much. He does it occasionally. But majority of the time. He starts to feel bad, because he just wants to make both of you feel good.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
He’s loud. His moans and whimpers are pleasing your ear. The sounds just turn you on some more. He also slips out curse words here and there as he starts reaching his climax.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
When he's stoned, he gets more clingy and soft when he's with you. He's so touchy and sex is even more soft.
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
He is about 6 inches, 7 inches when hard. He has some girth to him. He’s not too thick or thin. He’s the perfect size for you.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Slater’s sex drive is fairly average. He doesn’t have a high sex drive as many others think. He has many dirty thoughts about you all the time though.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
As stated earlier, Slater is such a big softie. He cuddles up next to you and lays on your chest. You start running your fingers through his hair. Once he feels that repeated motion on his head, lights out for him. The sight of him sleeping was so peaceful to you.

Hurricane - Randall ‘Pink’ Floyd
Tumblr media
A/N:  I’ve recently re-fallen in love with the beauty of the movie Dazed and Confused, and there’s like literally no work for it so I decided to write my own about one of my favorite characters! It’s a friends-lovers type thing sooooo.... Enjoy ;)
I exited my car and walked towards the school entrance with a little more pep in my step today. Around me, I could hear the chatter and excitement of the kids scattered across the parking lot, a few more days and school would be out. Soon, a lot of them would be seniors, including me.
As I was walking, I saw Pickford’s bright yellow car pulling in, Pickford and Michelle inside. Thank the lord! I smiled as he sped into the parking lot, walking over to the car and leaning against the window.
“Ahhhh, Pickford! Just the man I wanted to see on this fine morning!” I said dramatically, smiling at him. He rolled his eyes putting the car into park.
“Hey Michelle!” I said to her as Pickford turned the car off, looking over to me. She smiled back, laughing at Kevin’s reaction to me.
“What do ya want now (y/n)?” He said in fake annoyance.
I nudged him gently, laughing.
“Light me, I left my lighter at home.” I said, pulling a joint out of my pocket and placing it in between my lips, leaning closer so he could light the end.
“M’Lady” He laughed dramatically, producing a lighter and sparking the end.
“Thanks man, you’re the best” You said standing back up right and smiling gratefully, taking a few drags off the thing.
“Yeah yeah, you only want me for my weed and my lighters.” He fake pouted dramatically, earning another giggle from me and Michelle.
“You know you love me!” I exclaimed, reaching in the window and ruffling his hair, much to his annoyance.
“Anyways, I gotta go find some people, I’ll catch you guys later!” I called, backing away and going to find some other friends.
I took a couple drags off the joint, making my way through the school gates and saying hi to people I knew along the way. Mid laugh (at something someone had said) I felt the joint being pulled out of my mouth. I turned quickly only to see one of my very best friends, Randall Floyd, or Pink as we all call him. I smiled at the sight of my joint hanging out of his mouth, a smirk on his lips.
“And what do you think you’re doing Mister? I chuckled, crossing my arms and giving him a look.
“Well, you know what they say (y/n), sharing is caring.” He said jokingly, taking a big hit off of it.
“Heyyyy!” I exclaimed, laughing and reaching for it.
“Don’t smoke it all! I barely got a few hits in.” I pouted as he pulled it from my reach. He laughed and threw his arm around my shoulders, pulling me in and passing the joint back to me.
“Fine, I’ll give it back Mrs. Grouch” He said, earning a nudge in the side from me.
‘You’re lucky I love you” I grumbled out, looking at him. He laughed. keeping his arm around my shoulder and walking towards the doors to the school.
“So I was wonderin’ if you’re free tonight? Maybe you can drop by mine later tonight? I’ve got some new records to listen to and a sixer just begging for us to drink it.’ Pink said, as if he’d really have to coax me into coming over. I laughed at his ‘puppy dog eyes’ all the same.
“What, no plans with the leech tonight?” I joked around, referring to his ever annoying girlfriend.
“Nahh, needed a break for one night” He said dismissively, earning a laugh from me.
“Alright, It sounds like a plan! Be there at 6?” I confirmed, stopping as we heard someone call Pink’s name. He waved to them to hold on before finally removing his arm from my shoulders.
“Sounds great! Can’t wait.” He confirmed with a smile, turning towards me and stealing the joint again, taking another hit before passing it back to me.
“See you then.” I called to him as he walked backwards, shooting finger guns my way and nearly tripping on his own feet. I laughed at how dorky he really could be at times.
I took the last drag before putting the joint out and walking into the building, nearly running straight into Slater.
“Slater! My man! How’s it going?” I said to him, doing the funky little hand shake we made up a few years back.
“Good, man! Hey! I got that stuff for you.” He said smiling like a maniac, pulling a little bag out of his pocket and handing it to me.
“You are the best my dude!” I laughed out, putting the baggie into my bag.
“Anything for you! Hey man, I’ll check ya later!” He said, shooting me finger guns and walking away. I really was friends with a bunch of dorks.
I sighed, continuing my walk to first period, now all I had to do was survive the day.
Later that day
The final bell rung out, everyone including me rushing to pack their stuff up and get out. As I was walking out of the building I saw Slater, Pickford, and Michelle  hanging out in the parking lot over by Pickford’s car and decided to go say hi real quick.
“Only a few more days dudes, and then we’re seniors!’ I exclaimed as I walked up to the group. “Hey Michelle, can I bum a cig?”
She handed me one and lighter. “Thanks.”
“It’s gonna be so weird man, we’re gonna be like so....old” Slater said slowly, laughing after he realized what he said. I laughed too. I handed the lighter back to Michelle and took a drag off the stick.
“All I know is, we’ll be the top of the food chain, and i’m gonna throw a fat party to celebrate!” Pickford laughed, lighting up a joint of his own.
As I was about to reply, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist, lifting me up slightly before setting me back down. I let out a little shout, startled, holding my cigarette out to avoid burning whoever the culprit was.
“Floyd! I swear to god I’ll kill you!” I said knowing it could be no one else.
“Oooooo, she used your last name. You’re in trouble, man!” Slater called out, laughing as Pink placed me down again and moved to my side, throwing an arm over my shoulder, as he usually did.
“Awe, look at the two love birds who won’t admit they’re lovebirds!” Pickford said mockingly, faking a gag at the end.
“Oh shove it Pickford” Pink said dismissively, waving off the comment.
“Yeah, you wouldn’t want his toy to hear that.” I fake whispered to the group as they laughed along. I was referring to Simone and they all new it. They all new I couldn’t stand her, including Pink, and most of the group felt the same way.
“Alright alright, that’s enough of that.” Pink started, trying to keep the peace as always.
“Look! It’s my favorite group of little stoners!” A voice called to the left, Donnie joining the small gathering, a chorus of ‘hey Don’s’ and ‘what’s up man’s’ emitting from the group.
“Hey Don! How ya been? Haven’t seen you in a while.” I said as he reached the circle.
“Still waiting on your call, baby.” He said winking and flicking his tongue at me. I heard Pink scoff at this from beside me, but I just laughed. Donnie was Donnie after all.
“In your dreams man.” I replied smoothly.
“Oh you know it sweatheart! Anyways, I’m here for you Slater. Where’s my drugs?” He called over to the stoner, who was currently passing a joint to Michelle.
“Follow me, man.” He said with a guilty grin, him and Donnie walking away.
“Well, as much as I love hanging out with you nerds, I gotta get goin.” I said, moving to walk towards my car. Pink hooked his fingers into the belt loops on the side of my jeans, pulling me back towards him.
‘We still on for tonight?” He asked.
“Yes, sir!” I said feigning seriousness, fake saluting him. He laughed at this.
“Alright then. I shall see you tonight.” He smiled, releasing his hold on the belt loops and backing up slightly.
“See you then. Later, guys!” I called over my shoulder and hopping in my car, the radio coming to life at full volume as the car roared to life.
Today had been a fairly good day but who was I to lie, I was beyond exited for the night to come. I raced home and instantly started getting ready-showering and then getting dressed. I had a little more time to kill before I needed to head over to Pink’s so I took out the new goods from Slater and rolled a few more joints, placing 2 in the “Emergency” supply and packing the rest into my purse before slipping my shoes on and heading out.
Tumblr media
I eventually pulled up outside Pink’s house, only to see him and Slater talking out by Pink’s car.
“Getting the party started without me, boys?” I smirked, making my way over to the little group.
“(y/n), man! It feels like it’s been forever since I saw you man.” Slater called, laughing almost nervously. Pink looked over at me as well, shooting me his award winning smile.
“Slater, I literally saw you a few hours ago” I laughed, pulling him into a hug anyways.
“My turn!” Pink exclaimed once I’d let go of Slater, holding his arms open wide with a little smile on his face. I rolled my eyes, laughing, but walking into his arms anyways, my heart skipping a beat momentarily. I just chose to ignore that bit.
“So, what’re you doing here? Not that your company isn’t a pleasure, “ I started, looking at Slater. “but i thought it was just gonna be us tonight?” I finished, looking at Pink.
“It is, he was just dropping off some supplies” Pink answered devilishly.
“Yeah, don’t worry (y/n), I’m not here to steal your man time, man” He laughed out, beginning to step away.
“You wish Slater!” I said, blushing slightly. He just shook his head, beginning to walk away. The blush intensified even more when Pink put his arm around my waist, pulling me even closer. He was usually pretty touchy, but it seemed to be amped up even more tonight.
“Thanks again, man. I’ll see you tomorrow at the Emporium?” Pink called as Slater was walking away.
“For sure man! Have fun, but not too much fun, man!” He called back, making his way around the corner.
Pink still hadn’t let go of me so I turned, putting a hand on his chest and laughing at his dopey facial expression.
“Hmmmmm, seems like someone really did start the party without me” I laughed, pinching his cheek lightly, him swatting my hand away.
“Ok maybe I smoked a tinyyyy bit, but there’s still plenty to go around” He said smirking and hooking his fingers into the front belt loops of my pants. I looked up at him, suddenly having an overwhelming urge to lean in. I snapped myself out of it though, if any of that was going to be happening tonight I’d have to be a lot more out of it than my current state.
“Well, why are we still out here then? The weed isn’t going to smoke itself!” I chuckled, breaking away from him and making my way into his house, directly to his room.
I plopped onto his bed, leaning against the headboard as Pink followed me in, closing the door and lighting some incense to mask the smell. As soon as it was good and burning, I pulled out my freshly rolled stash, lighting it and taking a drag as Pink put one of the new records on the player.
Once it was settled, he turned towards me.
“Hey now! Don’t be greedy” He laughed at me, launching himself on top of me on the bed, opening his mouth for me to place the joint in it. I complied with his wishes, sticking it in his mouth and leaning back with a smile on my face, his body still very much on top of mine.
Eventually, he moved to a more comfortable position at my side. We listened to the records, back to back, giving our respective opinions on each of the albums, going through about 4 joints and 3 beers each. By the time the last song on the last of his new records rang out, we were fairly buzzed.
“Well, that’s all of em. Now, what to do, what to do?” Pink stated, looking over to me with an idea in his eyes.
“Have anything specific in mind?” I asked absentmindedly, more focused on the brightly colored poster on the wall.
“I have an idea, yeah” He answered vaguely. I giggled lightly at his lack of explanation.
“Are you planning on sharing that idea with me or are you just gonna keep it locked up in that brain of yours?” I questioned teasingly, leaning forward to tap his temple lightly. He swatted my hand away with a laugh.
“I’ll do better, I’ll show you!” He exclaimed, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the window. I was curious now.
Before I could question his intentions further, he slid the window open and climbed out on to the roof, turning back and reaching his hand in the window, motioning for me to follow. I grabbed his hand and climbed out as well. He began walking towards the middle of the roof, my hand still clasped tightly in his own.
He sat down finally, pulling my arm along with him. I sat down quietly, leaning against his shoulder lightly. For a few long moments, there was nothing but silence. Pink stared up at the sky, lost in thought.
“Whatcha thinking about?” I asked quietly, poking his side gently.
“I don’t love her.” He answered immediately.
“What?” I replied, taken aback by the question.
“Simone. I don’t love her, I never did. In fact, we’ve been split for months, but she refuses to let me go. I don’t love her because..... well, because I love someone else” He laughed out almost incredulously, like he couldn’t believe what he was saying. Something about that statement sent a ping straight to my heart.
“Well then, that’s ok! I’m sure this girl likes you back. Who wouldn’t? Don’t worry yourself too-” before I could finish my sentence, his lips were on mine. They moved in sync briefly before he pulled away.
“It’s you. You are the girl I’m talking about. I think I’ve always known it’s you, I just never realized it.” He let out with no hesitation. As I processed what he was saying to me, my heart was dancing in my chest. This was not how I planned for the night to go, not that I’m complaining at all.
“I don’t think there's any question that I feel the same then?” I asked in a daze, still shocked by the events that had just transpired. Pink chuckled at this, shaking his head and wrapping an arm around me, pulling me closer.
“No, I don’t think so. Though, I think I should double check, just to make sure.” He stated, a goofy smile finding its way onto his face. At that, he leaned down once more, placing his lips on mine once again.

Reprinted here is a remarkable tribute written by Irishman Kevin Myers about Canada’s record of quiet valour in wartime. This article appeared in the April 21, 2002 edition of the Sunday Telegraph, one of Britain’s largest circulation newspapers and in Canada’s National Post on April 26, 2002.
LONDON - Until the deaths last week of four Canadian soldiers accidentally killed by a U.S. warplane in Afghanistan, probably almost no one outside their home country had been aware that Canadian troops were deployed in the region. And as always, Canada will now bury its dead, just as the rest of the world as always will forget its sacrifice, just as it always forgets nearly everything Canada ever does.
It seems that Canada’s historic mission is to come to the selfless aid both of its friends and of complete strangers, and then, once the crisis is over, to be well and truly ignored.
Canada is the perpetual wallflower that stands on the edge of the hall, waiting for someone to come and ask her for a dance. A fire breaks out, she risks life and limb to rescue her fellow dance-goers, and suffers serious injuries. But when the hall is repaired and the dancing resumes, there is Canada, the wallflower still, while those she once helped glamorously cavort across the floor, blithely neglecting her yet again.
That is the price Canada pays for sharing the North American continent with the United States, and for being a selfless friend of Britain in two global conflicts. For much of the 20th century, Canada was torn in two different directions: It seemed to be a part of the old world, yet had an address in the new one, and that divided identity ensured that it never fully got the gratitude it deserved.
Yet its purely voluntary contribution to the cause of freedom in two world wars was perhaps the greatest of any democracy. Almost 10% of Canada’s entire population of seven million people served in the armed forces during the First World War, and nearly 60,000 died. The great Allied victories of 1918 were spearheaded by Canadian troops, perhaps the most capable soldiers in the entire British order of battle.
Canada was repaid for its enormous sacrifice by downright neglect, its unique contribution to victory being absorbed into the popular Memory as somehow or other the work of the “British.“
The Second World War provided a re-run. The Canadian navy began the war with a half dozen vessels, and ended up policing nearly half of the Atlantic against U-boat attack. More than 120 Canadian warships participated in the Normandy landings, during which 15,000 Canadian soldiers went ashore on D-Day alone.
Canada finished the war with the third-largest navy and the fourth-largest air force in the world.
The world thanked Canada with the same sublime indifference as it had the previous time. Canadian participation in the war was acknowledged in film only if it was necessary to give an American actor a part in a campaign in which the United States had clearly not participated - a touching scrupulousness which, of course, Hollywood has since abandoned, as it has any notion of a separate Canadian identity.
So it is a general rule that actors and filmmakers arriving in Hollywood keep their nationality - unless, that is, they are Canadian.
Thus Mary Pickford, Walter Huston, Donald Sutherland, Michael J. Fox, William Shatner, Norman Jewison, David Cronenberg, Alex Trebek,  Art Linkletter and Dan Aykroyd have in the popular perception become American, and Christopher Plummer, British. It is as if, in the very act of becoming famous, a Canadian ceases to be Canadian, unless she is Margaret Atwood, who is as unshakably Canadian as a moose, or Celine Dion, for whom Canada has proved quite unable to find any takers.
Moreover, Canada is every bit as querulously alert to the achievements of its sons and daughters as the rest of the world is completely unaware of them. The Canadians proudly say of themselves and are unheard by anyone else - that 1% of the world’s population has provided 10% of the world’s  peacekeeping forces. Canadian soldiers in the past half century have been the greatest peacekeepers on Earth - in 39 missions on UN mandates, and six on non-UN peacekeeping duties, from Vietnam to East Timor, from Sinai to Bosnia.
Yet the only foreign engagement that has entered the popular Canadian imagination was the sorry affair in Somalia, in which out-of-control paratroopers murdered two Somali infiltrators. Their regiment was then disbanded in disgrace - a uniquely Canadian act of self-abasement for which, naturally, the Canadians received no international credit.
So who today in the United States knows about the stoic and selfless friendship its northern neighbour has given it in Afghanistan?
Rather like Cyrano de Bergerac, Canada repeatedly does honourable things for honourable motives, but instead of being thanked for it, it remains something of a figure of fun.
It is the Canadian way, for which Canadians should be proud, yet such honour comes at a high cost. This week, four more grieving Canadian families knew that cost all too tragically well.

Regimes of Time: Great Long Takes, ep. 47 The man meets the woman from the city in Sunrise (dir. F. W. Murnau, 1927)
For years, Photoplay magazine had listed their six (or more) Best Performances of the Month in a column reviewing new movie releases. But in their December 1927 issue, they did something they'd never done before: alongside names like Mary Pickford and Gloria Gaynor, they also listed "The Camera in 'Sunrise.'" It was no joke. Sunrise went on to capture the first Oscar awarded for Best Cinematography. But these days, 90 years after Sunrise's release and over four decades after the invention of the Steadicam, it can be hard to recognize what a landmark achievement this was. Some context is necessary to perceive this long take from Sunrise as both a culmination of German Expressionist camerawork (and perhaps, by extension, silent-era cinematography as a whole) and a starting point for many later explorations and elaborations of the aesthetics and philosophy of cinema.
In the mid-1920's, a number of German filmmakers, Murnau the most noted name among them, developed a style or ethos of camera movement called entfesselte camera (often translated as "unchained" camera, though sometimes rendered "unfastened" camera). Film historians Bordwell and Thompson point out that screenwriter Carl Mayer might be responsible for first imagining the unchained camera in Germany, since his script for the 1923 film Sylvester specified that the camera should track smoothly down a long city street (Film History: An Introduction (3rd Ed.), 98). I say "in Germany" because at the same time Abel Gance in France and Dziga Vertov in Russia were both cooking up their own new camera tricks and techniques. Carl Mayer, it should be noted, also wrote the scenario for Murnau’s 1924 film The Last Laugh and several other projects now noted for their unchained camera. But without cinematographer Karl Freund's technical innovations on The Last Laugh -- including mounting the camera on a bicycle for its famous opening shot -- the sublime camerawork on Sunrise might never have happened. Karl Freund worked with Murnau on one more film, 1925's Tartuffe, after which Murnau further honed the techniques of unchained camera with cinematographer Carl Hoffmann. From here, the skills passed to Hollywood cinematographer Charles Rosher. Rosher explained, "Carl Hoffman photographed Faust and I learned a great deal from him. I took several ideas back, including the dolly suspended from railway tracks in the ceiling, which I adapted for Sunrise, Murnau's first American picture. ... For some scenes, such as the swamp sequence, the camera went in a complete circle. This created enormous lighting problems. We built a railway line in the roof, suspended a little platform from it, which could be raised for lowered by motors" (qtd. in Kevin Brownlow, The Parade's Gone By..., 230-32). Almost immediately, the techniques which Murnau and his German Expressionist colleagues pioneered became part of the Hollywood toolkit. But they had an even more direct influence on one of the 20th Century's greatest directors. In 1924, a young Alfred Hitchcock had the opportunity to observe Murnau at UFA in Berlin during the making of The Last Laugh. According to Hitchcock himself (cf. James Bade, here), he was so inspired by what he saw that he embarked on a careerlong investigation of camera techniques and visual storytelling.
Murnau's innovations proved equally influential for the trajectory of film theory. And this deceptively simple shot, in which the camera glides through a foggy moonlit marsh to witness the meeting of two people, connects in some way to his entire legacy. For instance, Marc Silberman argues that the unchained camera, as developed for The Last Laugh, was able to represent the psychic disruptions that German life underwent in the mid-1920's as white collar and service sector jobs in urban areas rapidly replaced factory wage labor (German Cinema: Texts in Context, here, pp. 19-33). Interpreted in the context of Silberman's claims, Sunrise employs its mobile camera to address the same tension between modern and traditional ways of life, but from the rural, rather than urban, perspective. Indeed, this long take stages that very rendez-vous between the tempted man of the country and the frau fatale of the city. As soon as they embrace, Murnau cuts to an image of the man's wife tearfully embracing their baby at the thought of the family's impending dissolution. The idea that this collision of city and country is destructive rather than productive was first proposed by Alexandre Astruc. Writing in the Cahiers du Cinema, he argued that the image in Murnau "is the meeting place for a certain number of lines of force... brought to this point of extreme tension so that henceforth only their destruction can be conceived and supported. ... Every frame of Murnau's is the story of a murder. The camera will have the simplest and most shocking of roles: that of being the annunciating and prescient terrain of an assassination" (qtd. in Brian Henderson, "The Long Take," here, pp. 7-8). Whereas the Soviets used editing to bring opposing forces or ideas into collision, Astruc claims that Murnau developed a vocabulary of staging this collision within the shot.
Starting in the 1940's, film theorists became embroiled in ongoing discourse over which of these -- the shot or the cut -- constituted the essence of cinema. Andre Bazin, the most influential of the Realists, championed Murnau for an aesthetic in which "montage plays no part" ("The Evolution of the Language of Cinema," in What is Cinema Vol. 1, 26-7). Bazin believed that cinema was not so much an invention as it was a desire. Humans, he argued, pursued a longstanding psychological desire for the preservation of likeness, and to fulfill that desire, we developed techniques and technologies like linear perspective, the camera obscura, photography, and cinema. Cinema, as he saw it, was no incidental gadget, but the latest device that sprang from humanity's fundamental desire for realism (a desire which cinema, incidentally, did not quench; Bazin predicted further inventions, beyond cinema, that would make more perfect reproductions of the world). Following from this, Bazin praised the work of directors whose use of wide-angle lenses and long takes allowed viewers to encounter represented space and time in their relative wholeness, rather than through the fragmentation and illusionism of montage. Here, the realism -- or, at least, the event of the shot -- envelops the viewer. In moonlit reeds and fog that feels genuinely nocturnal, we follow the man across a single-plank bridge, through some low-hanging leaves, and over a fence. Following his line of sight, the camera does not cut, but instead pans left and pushes its way through more leaves to find the woman clandestinely waiting for him. As he approaches, she touches up her make-up. Though the camera followed the man's eyeline to the left, he enters from the right. A pause, and they embrace. Perhaps mimicking the moral ambiguity or hazard of this adulterous topos, Murnau confuses space by having the man walk behind us. But this is not spatial disorientation for its own sake -- again, our transit through this murky world embeds us within it. We do not watch from a distance. We walk right into the film. Picking up on this, scholar Sabine Müller argues that Murnau's moving camera triggers a "kinesthetic empathy" in the viewer -- an emotional response based on the camera's simulation of something like a body in motion (here).
Finding a way to release internal emotional states into the material of the mise-en-scene is, of course, the bread and butter of German Expressionist cinema. At its inception around 1920, directors like Weine (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari) and Wegener (The Golem) took this externalization perhaps a bit too literally, designing sets in the shape of jagged cubist explosions. Murnau, on the other hand, materialized whatever tumultuous collision of emotion lay at the heart of his story through nearly elemental archetype. In Sunrise, Astruc's collision of forces is not limited to the rural and the urban, or even the modern and the traditional. As this long take graphically expounds, it's about light and darkness. Gilles Deleuze argues that German Expressionism is defined by its orchestration of light intensity, whether understood as gradients of chiaroscuro, as black and white rays, or as the overall contrast in settings between "the luminous town and the opaque marshland" (Deleuze, Cinema 1, 49). Indeed, the very title of the film designates such a zone of light collision: Sunrise, where the day and the night meet. Understood this way, the metaphysical terrain of the story transcends a simplistic standoff between the modern and the traditional to something more rarefied, more abstract -- something fundamental about love, commitment, and sacrifice.
Sunrise stands as one of the crowning achievements of German Expressionist style. But far from the end of an era, Murnau's work (and Sunrise in particular) inaugurates the dawn of much of what came later: the stylistic inspiration for Hitchcock and film noir, the post-theatrical collaboration between actors and camera in creating performances, aesthetic debates over long takes and filmic realism, and the legacy of silent-era cinematography in inspiring freer, more elaborate camera movements thereafter. I can hardly imagine Regimes of Time without the groundwork of Sunrise.

New prompts list
Here’s the new prompts list! 😃Requests can be sent in via the Ask/Request button. A list with who I write for can be found below.
I’m also keeping the possibility to request for your favorite bromance (no smut). The only ‘rule’ for this is, that at least one of the players must be on my Who I Write For list. When a prompt is taken, it will be striked through on the list. You can see when your request is (roughly) scheduled for posting on the Posting Schedule. Some general rules and FAQ’s for my writing can be found here. ⋯ PROMPT ; [ scenario eighteen ] any form of physical intimacy ever
⋯ WARNINGS ; gn!reader, tw [ mentions of parties, drugs + alcohol ] + general fluff [ reassuring touches + fleeting kisses ]
Tumblr media
the party was in full swing for the night. a beer in your hand as you rested against the nearest wall for support. you weren’t wasted by any means, but you had been standing most of the night and were slowly starting to feel your legs grow tired.
the crowd was on a bit of downswing, and coupled with the lost count of beers in your system, you were slowly starting to feel drowsy. the group conversation you were in seemed to fade to the foreground as you got lost in your own head. zoning out for a short moment as you felt yourself slipping.
a touch to the small of your back jolted you from your state, scaring you into almost dropping the cup in your hand as you turned to the person behind you. your worried gaze melting when your eyes connected with kevin’s blues. a smile creeping up on his face as he leaned in close to you, his hot breath tickling your face, “you good, babe?” he whispered, casting a glance down your figure to make sure you were still in one piece, “yeah, i am. just tired is all.”
kevin nodded, thinking through his smoke-filled hazed as he turned to look around the loud room for the group he was with. “let me finish up some business, and we can go home.” he winked, patting your back gently before disappearing into the crowd once more.
true to his word, he was back minutes later and ushering you towards his car with his hand at your back as he uttered his goodbyes to fellow party-goers.
· ⧊ ·
like clock work, you heard kevin’s pontaic pull down your street. you parents shooting you disproving looks. pointed more in the direction of the loud car, not kevin himself. the horn rang out a minute later, and you gathered your things before sprinting out to the bright orange car.
kevin’s smile lit from the drivers seat as you got in, a joint already hanging from his lips as he watched you buckle your seatbelt. “morning babe.” he muttered, pulling the joint from his lips to lean over the console to press a soft kiss to your lips. humming to himself as he pulled away, offering the bud to you.
you took a few puffs, blowing out the smoke before handing it back to him. his hand reaching across the console to grab yours that rest atop your thigh. his fingers lacing with yours as the engine revved and he tore down the street.
a comfortable silence sat throughout the cab, his hand every so often squeezing yours. and only letting go once he pulled into his parking spot and you had to detach to get out. but once your car door slammed shut, his hand was right back in yours, pulling you towards your first class.
it had been an hour or so before the orange pontaic pulled back into the parking lot of the eumphoim. you were hanging around with jodi and some of the other girls in your class when you heard some shouts from dawson and pink.
kevin had quickly swarmed to your side, his hands hugging your waist as he smiled at you. pressing a soft, yet needier kiss to your lips in greeting. listening to dawson regale their little adventure around town which had pulled a worried look from you as you turned in his arms, “i thought i told you to stay safe.”
and you had, right as he rounded his car to let you know he was headed out once more. this time with pink, dawson and a freshman named mitch, affectionately nicknamed “junior”. he sealed his promised with a steamy kiss, one that had dawson wolf-whistling in your direction before kevin flipped him off.
he chuckled lowly, shooting a beaming smile your way as he pulled you in close, pressing his forehead against yours, “we were safe, babe. nothing like a little risk to spice up the night.” leaning in to ease your worries with a quick series of kisses across your face, causing you to laugh.
you sat coolly in the white egg chair of kevin’s room, still nursing a slight hangover from the previous nights activities. however, not as bad as kevin’s who had collapsed into his bed the minute you got him through the door. and after many reassurances to his father and mother that he was okay and that you drove home.
you half expected to wake up before him, sneaking down to the kitchen to grab some water and medicine to help cure the massive hangover he would inevitably have the second he woke up.
sure enough, you heard a slight groan from the lump on the bed. his hand coming to rest across his eyes to block out the sun. you stood, holding out the water and medicine for him to take.
he shot you a grateful smile, downing the pills and water before making his way to the bathroom to clean up a bit. he reentered his room, dropping to lay back down in his bed, before slowly turning to you.
he outstretched his hand, pulling you into him. letting you bury your head in his shoulder as his arms wrapped around you. he took a deep breath, inhaling your scent as the two of yo slowly drifted off into sleep.

Meeting and Dating Kevin Pickford
Tumblr media
(Not my gif)(requested by anonymous)
(I love this pointless movie)
- You and Kevin meet after your friends convinced you to go to one of his parties. You could of made up ten different activities you’d rather do than go to a highschool keg party but your friends insisted and you soon found yourself packed into their car.
- Now you had had a little crush on Kevin for a while, ever since freshman year when you saw him for the first time, so even though you weren’t very excited to spend your night surrounded by your drunken peers you were a bit excited to maybe, hopefully see him.
- So you arrive at his house; let’s pretend this is another party that didn’t get shut down, and you walk through the front door to see the typical shit show. You stick by your friends for a while, nursing a beer and trying to convince yourself you’re having a good time. That is until your friends all but ditch you to go and mingle.
- Soon enough you’re all alone standing uncomfortably in the relatively abandoned kitchen. You’re debating the idea of just leaving, walking home didn’t seem all to bad given the circumstances, but just as you feel like you’ve made up your mind...in walks the host. You felt like your heart was going to jump out of your chest when you saw him, you stared down at your cup hoping he would just sort of ignore you as he rummaged for whatever it was he was looking for.
“How ya doin?” Shit.
- It seemed like he was just trying to be friendly so you gave him as much of a smile as you could muster and a small “fine” before glancing down at your drink again. From your experience this was usually when the person would just nod and walk out but he didn’t. He gathered the stuff he had came in for but paused at the counter.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you around before... whats your name?”
- I think you’d have to be a year younger than him because if you were in his grade prior to this he would have asked you out or at least spoken to you before. So you’re a sophomore going into junior year and he’s a junior going into senior year.
“Oh you wouldn’t really know me, I’m a sophomore. My friends brought me, I’m y/n.”
“Oh cool man cool. I’m Kevin.”
“Yeah, I-uh, I know,” you chuckled a little. “Nice party.”
- He smiled and was about to say something before he was called back to the party by a loud shout. “Well I’m gonna go deliver the necess-it-ies. You should come out, join the living, raise a little hell.” And then he was once again lost in the sea of people flooding his living room.
- After he was gone you freaked out for a hot minute over the fact that you had just talked to your longtime crush. You decided that maybe you could stomach a little more of the party and took a deep breath before wandering out of the kitchen. It was maybe thirty minutes later that the two of you found each other again and started up a mini conversation.
- Soon enough the two of you were heading up to his bedroom so that you could actually hear each other speak. You spent a surprisingly long time just talking to each other while the party went on downstairs; it was four in the morning by the time you checked the clock again.
- You figured it was time for you to go home, so you stood up and began to say goodbye before he tried to convince you to stay a little longer. It’s nearly impossible to deny him, it’s pretty much been your dream for this exact scenario to happen. You promise to stay for another hour, which turns into another hour, and finally you really need to go so that you can avoid meeting your parents at the front door. He asks for your number and you write it down for him before you leave.
- You end up walking home in the rising sun which almost feels like the perfect way to end the night.
- He calls you a few days later asking if you’d want to come over which you obviously agree to. You get together, chat some more, listen to music, all that fun teenager shit. But then he leans over and kisses you, pulling away with that gorgeous smile of his and, well, you’re walking on clouds for the rest of the day.
- Later on you kiss some more and he gives you a “so does this mean you’ll be my girlfriend from now on, cause I think I’d like that, a lot”.
- Listen most of your dates are more or less just the two of you hanging out not really doing much besides enjoying each other’s company.
- But he does take you to a drive in restaurant for dinner so you can count that as your first “official” date. He wanted to “give a good first impression for your relationship”.
- You’re together like 90% of the time. The both of you are kind of clingy with each other and neither of you seem to mind.
- Whenever you’re together he always has some form of physical contact with you at all times.
- Sitting on his lap.
- He loves PDA but it’s mostly because he just loves affection in general.
- He’s a big baby who likes being cuddled and that’s a fact. He lowkey loves being the little spoon but it genuinely doesnt matter to him how you cuddle as long as you do it.
- Keeps tabs on you whenever you go out together. He usually stays close by or at least knows where you’re going to be, he likes to make sure you’re alright.
- You definitely have little routines together whether it be when his parents almost catch him smoking or cleaning up after a party or just when coming home from school.
- Helping to make sure his parents don’t catch him smoking in his room. You’re usually sent out to distract them or you clear things up while he talks with them.
- He’s so interested in your talents and hobbies, show him what you’re passionate about baby! He wants to know!
- Always being offered free booze or weed.
- Awkward first introductions to his friends when they crash one of your hangouts to try and buy some herb.
- Being invited to all of his and his friends parties.
- Helping him plan his parties.
- Helping him with all his antics.
- He’s always fiddling with something whenever you’re together so be prepared to see him doing something at any given moment in the corner of your eye.
- Making out, he could kiss for hours.
- Always having shotgun reserved for you.
- Laying on the hood of his car together and talking about random shit.
- Trying to hide your laughter while you listen to his weird weed fueled theories and stories.
- He shows off everything you make or do, he’s a subtle cheerleader.
- You spend most of your time in his room, sitting in his egg chair or on the windowseat while he smokes a joint.
- You’re constantly on the same wavelength.
“Thats what I was gonna say!!”
- Braiding and running your fingers through his hair.
- He plays with your hair as well, twirling strands between his fingers and stroking it when you’re cuddling.
- He’s honestly so adorable and absolutely smitten with you. All his friends can tell he’s whipped but he doesn’t care.
- He thinks it’s so cute that you had a crush on him, well that’s if you ever admit it to him.
- Hand holding especially whenever you’re walking together.
- Staying up till dawn together.
- Making flower crowns together, dont deny it he’d do it.
- His parents love you and are always really sweet, his mother is an absolute angel.
- He isnt going to force you to smoke with him but he does need you to accept that hes not stopping just because you dont want to. He’ll agree to not smoke around you because thats fair enough but he’ll still do it with his friends or on his own. I can assume you’re alright with that if you want a relationship with him.
- Kevins pretty chill so there’s rarely any fighting and the fighting you do have are more so just arguments rather than actual fullblown fights. They’re usually over a dangerous idea or stupid action he had/did. These arguments usually end with him realizing and admitting you’re right or saying how he can see why you’d think that. He gets it even if he doesnt think its as big of a deal as you do.
- Kevin is a moderately jealous person, he doesnt think every man you talk to is a threat to your relationship. He’s pretty calm, which is what you’d expect from a stoner, he more so just smirks at the guy he knows is flirting with you and shows that you’re his with an arm around your shoulder and/or a kiss. He never dwells on it or let’s it ruin your night.
- He’s a very loyal boy, no cheating, no flirting with other girls. You’re the only girl he has eyes for.
- Swapping clothes and accessories.
- You share pretty much everything; food, drinks, homework, joints, a single braincell.
- Going to the emporium and playing fooseball and pool together or jokingly cheering him on while he plays someone else.
- A lot of nicknames; he definitely calls you flowerchild and other very 70s sounding ones.
- Having a lot of Polaroids together.
- Concert dates.
- Record store dates.
- Late night hangouts.
- Going on random trips to different stores to get food or drinks.
- Well if you’re becoming a junior then you’ll have a year in highschool without him in the near future. He doesn’t really mind waiting for you to graduate so that you can advance your relationship but it will bother him when he isn’t able to see you for more than six hours, five days a weeks
- Probably proposes to you in bed, late at night with a “how would you like to be a Mrs. Pickford?” while he spins the ring between his fingers.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher revealed his Premier League Team of the Season so far and included as many as seven players from the Reds.
In goal, the 42-year-old opted for Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson ahead of Alisson and Burnley”s Dean Henderson who has more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the league so far. The 23-year-old has played a key role in Chris Wilder’s side being where they are now and there’s every chance of him dethroning Jordan Pickford as England’s first-choice goalie.
Carragher opted for an all-Liverpool defence in Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold. On the right-back’s selection, the Reds legend said as quoted by the Daily Star: “I cannot imagine there will be any argument. His form speaks for itself with 12 Premier League assists. He is Liverpool’s playmaker at right back.

“I would add that he must be the Young Player of the Year, and will probably go on to establish himself as England’s first-choice full-back before the next major international tournament.”
Speaking on Robertson, Carragher said: “Again, in the interest of balance I was scratching my head and asking who could reasonably challenge Robertson for this position? The answer is no-one. He has seven assists in the Premier League – second only to Trent Alexander-Arnold when compared to other defenders – and remains the outstanding left back playing in English football. To put it into perspective, Leicester’s Ben Chilwell and Everton’s Lucas Digne have three and five Premier League assists, respectively.”
Carragher heaped praise on Van Dijk and his partnership with Gomez. “Quite simply, one of the best players in the world,” said the Sky Sports pundit on last season’s PFA Player of the Year.

“Since moving to Liverpool, Van Dijk has been elevated into that sphere of players who could play for any side. He is so good, sometimes it feels he is taken for granted. Whenever the player of the year is debated, it is strange how few pundits put him forward. He has been as influential this season as he was last year and is another of the picks in this line-up no-one can argue against.
“How can I separate Van Dijk and Gomez? They have not lost a league game as a central defensive partnership, and in some games Gomez has eclipsed his senior partner.”
Liverpool’s defence has statistically been the best in the Premier League, conceding only 21 goals so far. Hence, the inclusion of Van Dijk, Gomez, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold is very much justified. Some might argue over Gomez’s selection but his performances since becoming a regular starter have been pretty good.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has had a pretty impressive season so far and has been the pick of many pundits for the PFA Player of the Year. The 29-year-old did well in central midfield and also in the holding role when Fabinho was out injured. His passes, crosses, long balls are really good and having a leader like him on the pitch has been beneficial for Liverpool.
Carragher chose Henderson in his team, saying: “What is most impressive this season is the manner in which Henderson switched midfield roles. Until December, Fabinho was Liverpool’s best player and his injury could have been a critical moment in the title race. Instead, Henderson assumed the number six position and performed brilliantly. Maybe that is why more people have noticed his importance recently.”
Partnering the Red skipper are Manchester Cty’s Kevin de Bruyne and Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish. The former has shown how valuable he can be to his team when fully fit, amassing eight goals and 16 assists in the Premier League so far. Grealish has been Aston Villa’s silver lining this season and it won’t be a surprise if he leaves the club in the summer.
There have been some pretty good midfielders this season that include Wilfred Ndidi, James Maddison, Rodri, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho, to name a few. However, the ones Carragher has chosen have done brilliantly in 2019/20 as well.
In attack, the former England international went for two Liverpool players on the left and right wings in Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. The former is among the contenders for the PFA Player of the Year with 14 goals and seven assists so far. Salah has shown glimpses of inconsistency at times but his numbers have been really good with 16 goals and six assists.
Carragher claimed that Mane deserves the PFA Player of the Year this season. The Liverpool legend said: “It may be many months before the Player of the Year award is presented, but Mane deserves it. He scored the winning goals at critical moments at the start of the season and in the weeks before play stopped. He has been phenomenal.”
Speaking on Salah, Carragher said: “Salah’s enduring contribution must be recognised.
He has 20 goals in all competitions, remains in contention for the Premier League golden boot – which would be his third in three years – and has plenty of assists to go with it. He is a matchwinner who has helped Liverpool to the brink of their first title in 30 years.”
At centre-forward, Carragher opted for Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero ahead of Jamie Vardy who is currently the top scorer in the Premier League. This could be a selection many might argue with.
There have been some notable omissions from the Liverpool legend but all the players in his XI have been sensational this season.

Danny Murphy and Jermaine Jenas on fascinating mind games behind thrilling title race
Manchester City and Liverpool play the same day for the first time since February with the country in the middle divided about who will be there [19459003

[19459]] Jermaine Jenas and Danny Murphy discuss the most exciting Premier League title race in years
JERMAINE JENAS : Manchester City starts first at Palace, I don't know what you think Murph but I'd rather wait as Liverpool. It is always best to set the tone, to put pressure on this stage of the season. City wins and they are at the top against Liverpool against Chelsea at 4.30 am.
DANNY MURPHY : I would normally agree with you on this occasion, I don't think Liverpool will be happy playing later. Their players and fans are expected to win City, so if it happens, it will not deflate. But imagine Palace making a point or winning to bring the title back to Liverpool. The atmosphere at Anfield would buzz, it would give everyone a huge lift.
JENAS : One thing is certain, the Liverpool players will not get away from knowing the City Score even if they are focused on their own preparations.
MURPHY : I had some managers like Roy Hodgson at Fulham who didn't mind that we were watching early games on TV in the treatment area. In the memory, others like Gerard Houllier didn't like it, especially if the game on the box was relevant to us. He saw it as a distraction.

<img id = "i-a51cfe93bc1d77d4" src = "https://dailym.ai/2GkxQvY" height " 416 "width =" 634 "alt =" (LR) Mohamed Salah and Dejan Lovren share a joke during Liverpool's training on Thursday "
(LR) Mohamed Salah and Dejan Lovren share a joke during Liverpool training on Thursday Drawn by the performance at City on Spurs on Tuesday night, they looked a bit boring, and it was the same in the FA Cup against Brighton last weekend. The million-dollar question is whether they feel the physical demands of four games or whether Pep Guardiola sets them up jk has told me to save energy because of the competitions that are coming. If they play against Palace in the same way this afternoon, they run into problems.
MURPHY : Cities don't lose a lot, so when they do, there are always questions. If they had done that at Spurs and were lost, they would have criticized Pep for not having learned from the Champions League against Liverpool last season. The only thing that surprised me was Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane in the last minute. That was a bit bizarre. No player can expect to influence a game if they are played after 89 minutes. I do not judge the Brighton competition. Why would you run like crazy? If Brighton had equated itself, I think City would have gone through the gears to score a second.
JENAS : It is ironic that we think so because I think that in the end the competition will win and you will go to Liverpool. It shows how close it is between them. You can argue on both sides of the fence. Palace will not be easy for the city on Sundays. They won in Etihad in December and drove to Selhurst Park last season when Ederson had to save a late penalty from Luka Milivojevic to keep the 0-0. According to the very high standards of the city, this Palace makes a great team!
<img id = "i-1be6d33df602b810" src = "https://dailym.ai/2uS4u1n /1s/2019/04/13/20/12203404-6919373-Raheem_Sterling_was_among_the_Manchester_City_players_hard_at_wo-a-116_1555185098535.jpg "height =" 393 "width =" 631 "alt =" <img id = "i-1be6d33psr2b" https: 2 //i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/04/13/20/12203404-6919373-Raheem_Sterling_was_among_the_Manchester_City_players_hard_at_wo-a-116_1555185098535.jpg "height =" 393 "width =" 631 "alt =" Raheem Sterling was one of the Manchester City players who were working hard on Friday "working on Friday"
Raheem Sterling was one of the Manchester City players working hard at work were on Friday : I don't think the previous Palace games occupy the city too much, but they will give the Roy Hodgson team a greater faith. If you're hiding from a big club, go to the next one and think & # 39; here we go again & # 39 ;. Pep can even use the 3-2 loss to his advantage to warn of complacency. They don't let Andros Townsend shoot from afar again. Can we now start with the big game, Liverpool v Chelsea! You have to be impressed by the variation in Liverpool's game, they have learned to sit back and protect. I remember Shaqiri was eliminated halfway against Southampton with the match won 3-0. They have that option because Jurgen Klopp has players who are good at taking on pressure.
JENAS : Let's disagree to disagree! I don't think Liverpool closes even now. They got away with it against Porto on Wednesday, but were caught. Liverpool thinks they are pragmatic and smart, but I think they are always better on the front foot. Sadio Mane and Mo Salah always stayed high on the pitch last season, they now fall much deeper and sometimes make a five in midfield. They tried against Spurs.
MURPHY : But that's a good reason why Liverpool is so confident. Yes, they won the game, but it needed a late mistake from Hugo Lloris. The players, you can feel things during matches. Liverpool always goes to the final whistle because things are going on – Jordan Pickford's mistake in the Merseyside derby, the dramatic own goal against Spurs. Whichever team wins the competition, it did not do it by luck, because the consistency was incredible. But Liverpool uses their momentum. Watch the last game in Southampton, 1-1 with 10 minutes to go but no panic from Liverpool. They believed.

JEFF JURGER KLOPP in conversation with defender Van Dijk during training NAS: You will be able to tell a lot about Sunday's match against Chelsea and not just because of the slip of Stevie Gerrard in 2014. I felt that Liverpool's victory over Spurs probably had an impact on City and they thought that two points had fallen.
MURPHY : Both teams have Champions League games next week, so I don't think this gives one team an advantage over the other. City & # 39; s game against Spurs is of course huge, but Liverpool will not take Porto for granted and they have to travel. I don't see Pep or Klopp today having a lot of rest. The following three points are too important.
JENAS : The big puzzle for Pep is De Bruyne. I think I need it on Sunday. If he doesn't play, Palace can get a draw. I would play him, win, and then if he had to start on the bench against Spurs, he had to go with an hour, fresh and ready to go again.
MURPHY : Both parties have great keepers. Alisson and Ederson are right in shot and stop for crosses, but I would give Ederson the lead over his distribution. He is incredible with his feet. They are the Jennifer Lopez and Eva Mendes from keepers, you would either get the chance.
JENAS : Sounds like one of your comparisons, Murph! I'm surprised that Brazil starts with Alisson. As a complete goalkeeper, Ederson is better with his feet.

Players and staff seemed to be in a good mood despite Tottenham's defeat
MURPHY : Mo Salah played for Chelsea when she won 2-0 at Anfield in 2014. He is a much better player no With only one goal in 10 games you worry because Liverpool does not have the number of goals from other areas that City has. Raheem Sterling didn't score in four, but Pep can count on Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus, almost everywhere in fact.
JENAS : Salah & # 39; s numbers are generally very good this season, but he has not reached the highs of last year. Players are not stupid, their opponents are going to adjust to try to destroy him, whether it doubles or falls deeper. MURPHY : The key game seems to be the Manchester derby on April 24. United fans may not want Liverpool to win the competition
but I am convinced that their players are doing everything they can to defeat City that night. I remember Liverpool defeating Blackburn in 1995 when it could have stopped their idol Kenny Dalglish winning the competition. The fans thought: & # 39; What are you doing? & # 39; But the Liverpool players fought to win. United will be the same, especially with the top four up for grabs. Old Trafford could be where the competition was lost for the city.
JENAS : I agree that United will do it 100 percent. The reaction of City depends on how much the two previous games have eliminated against Spurs in the Champions League and the Premier League. If they show the energy levels of the last few games, they won't win. But Pep may play it very cleverly and ask his players to keep the ball instead of taking part in competitions so that they can be sharp in the last month. It is striking how often they score early and then take their foot off the pedal; Fulham, Cardiff, Brighton comes to mind. It can be Pep & # 39; s big trick – we will know in May if it works.
