(kenneth simmons)
apparently i have been drawing Kenneth Simmons the "incorrect" way. Kenneth does NOT have cucumbers for legs, he's actually "built like a Minecraft Skeleton". So I put my Kenneth on a diet and he now has the correct proportions. /j
(ok to be serious I saw someone describing Kenneth as being "built like a minecraft skeleton" and I was like "holy shit, that's actually a fun art idea". So I drew him like a minecraft skeleton. to be a bit more clear about what the post was about, it was criticizing about how people draw Kenneth "like a femboy" (probably in the sense of giving him more prominent hips and legs). I do believe that the original poster's got a point since even my own art is guilty of this (my art isn't all that realistic and I've drawn plenty of characters with pretty damn wide hips and legs, my OC Marble is a very noticeable case of this). However, if I do have my own criticisms about the post, Kenneth really is NOT built like a skeleton cuz even Kenneth's canonical artwork doesn't give him a waist THAT thin, and also the reasoning for why people "shouldn't" draw him "like a roblox avatar" is because he supposedly isn't a femboy? Like, even if we're working how he was described officially in text, he was described as a showy and effeminate character, and even then his fashion sense does resemble the kind of fashion that was associated with campy male characters in the late 20th century (which fits since Kenneth's story takes place mostly in the 1980s). So, it's not unreasonable that Kenneth could be described as a "femboy". So, yeah, even if the post does have a point about people's tendency to draw Kenneth with more meat on his legs compared to how he depicted officially, the claim about him being built like a skeleton isn't quite accurate either. So, in conclusion, you should have fun about how you draw characters, okay?)
(sorry for the random tangent, I just had some thoughts I needed to get out regarding this art challenge. this art challenge wasn't something done out of spite, but rather out of genuine interest and also to poke some fun at how I draw characters.)

hi... u shared your favorite lou reed facts.. do u have favorite beasties facts
omg I would have to think about this because I definitely do. how much is crazy adrock armchair psychoanalysis I wonder. well I think it's very sweet that adrock was a fan before he joined the band. when he said he used to see them around and think they were the kinds of people he wanted to be friends with... 😵‍💫. we all know they were a hardcore band but I love telling people that. and they played with reagan youth 🫶. I love that they "discovered" ll cool j and public enemy literally built def jam only to be screwed over so heartlessly. the way rick rubin was convinced that adrock was the star and russell simmons was convinced that mca was the star and no one gave a fuck about mike d calling him "the one who sounds like he has to try" and tried to get them to kick him out of the group. I'm haunted by their slapstick horror comedy film that never came to fruition. what they were gonna call licensed to ill. they're banned from performing in china and anyone who played their tibetan freedom concerts is also banned from performing in china. I love that there is no record of their alleged british airways lawsuit like okay myth building. we know I'm obsessed with the fact that adrock met liam gallagher during the doomed meth trip. and we know how personal opening for madonna on her virgin tour is to me. yauch vehemently denying that he made out with her and then a few years ago she changed her previous claim and said it was actually adrock. it's been said that mca threw the beer can at that fan in liverpool and ad whammy took the fall. I love that adrock auditioned for oliver stone's the doors... who was he reading for we can only wonder... I love that yauch is like actually a filmmaking pioneer inventing angles and shit. and who doesn't love their general paul's boutique antics. wearing vintage women's clothes blowing so much money that their label decides they're not gonna promote the album at all after their extravagant launch party for it. when they told blur to fuck off. the missing hydraulic penis. the ione skye saga. when they broke up and adrock left to be an actor claiming he watches the films of kenneth anger "all the time". sued by the beatles. are these really facts or just incidents I think are funny. world's vilest pop group ❤️

Current AI ‘art’ is created on the backs of hundreds of thousands of artists and photographers who made billions of images and spend time, love and dedication to have their work soullessly stolen and used by selfish people for profit without the slightest concept of ethics. – Alexander Nanitchkov

What I read in December
I ended up being very busy this month, and I also had some trouble with my earbuds, so I wasn't able to get as much reading done as usual. A bit frustrating and left me with some very long and boring drives. Ah well. The issues are fixed now, so I'm going into the new year with plenty of lust for reading.
Carrion Comfort, Dan Simmons ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wanted, A Gentleman, KJ Charles ⭐️⭐️
Interview With the Vampire, Anne Rice ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Henry VIII: King & Court, Alison Weir ⭐️⭐️⭐️ NF
Alexander the Great & the Macedonian Empire, Kenneth W Harl⭐️⭐️⭐️ NF
The Isles of the Gods, Amie Kaufman ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Sandman, Neil Gaiman & Dirk Maggs DNF
Phosphorescence, Julia Baird ⭐️⭐️⭐️NF
See? I told you I didn't read much this month.
The Vampires were really the stand-outs this month. When I was a teenager I was big into the Vampire Chronicles, and I probably reread all of them many times. But I haven't picked up the series in years, and I was worried that maybe it wouldn't live up to my memories of them. Well, it was better than I remembered. And it was interesting to revisit it and compare the version that I remembered with what was actually on the page. Now I can see very well what it was that captured my imagination back then, and I can also see what I didn't have the bandwidth to understand at the time. Nice.
Carrion Comfort is another Dan Simmons book, and it's another one where I picked it out because it looked great, and then went... hang on, Dan Simmons again?? Is there anywhere this guy doesn't show up? Well he's done it again. At this point I'm ready to concede that whatever genre this guy picks up, he's going to nail it. A really interesting take on vampires, and a really gripping intrigue and counter-intrigue plot.
And that's that about that!
Happy New Year, and I look forward to discovering and rediscovering some great books in 2024!
