Free Days And Time To Relax - Katrina Cornwell/Una Chin-Riley

A/N: Day 8 of @theadmiralslegion 's Katoberfest and here's... a chaotic feast of prompts to end on.

Later Kat would wonder how she survived, she would wonder how she was supposed to forgive herself for not following through on her sacrifice… and then she’d wake. Una is still there, by her side, silently monitoring her rest. She’s survived, she learns, because Una is stubborn, Una turned to outside help, a mysterious being who hadn’t given Una a name. Not even a letter. Free Days, Una says now, had been spent here, by her side. She doesn’t say it, but Kat senses from her awkwardness, that there’s only one bed here, that Una has slept curled against her like some kind of talisman of love and safety. Silence falls, Katrina watches Una’s blush seem to glow and leans up slowly to kiss her, softly, deeply, passionately. All the things she used to hide. It’s the first kiss they’ve ever had, the first real show of love from her. She doesn’t move away and when Una shifts onto the bed over her, she swallows only slightly, reaching to pull Una down into a second kiss. “I knew you were trouble….” Katrina murmurs, gaining a delighted laugh from Una before kissing her again. She means it, but she’s never really minded the potential for trouble, not when Una feels like her one true partner, the person who loves her not despite who or what she is, but because of it. “Look who’s talking…” Una’s voice is a murmur, her smile soft as they trade another kiss. “I could be thrown out of Starfleet for this… saving you. I never even cared. This, you, were the most important mission I could ever have had. Saving you was all I ever wanted… I didn’t even dare hope that you might love me back.” “I do.” Katrina promises with such open tenderness that Una smiles, leaning to rest her forehead against Katrina’s, her voice soft. “I know, I can feel it.” Silence falls, Katrina shivers without meaning to and Una laughs, settling over her so they are cuddling, her natural warmth stilling Katrina instantly. “Better?” “Much…. You are so warm.” She means it but she can’t help her smile before adding. “You are perfect, my Una.”

I'm literally so hyped for Katoberfest! I've already started to write 3 fanfics, but i have more ideas waiting. My goal is to post one each day (we'll see if I can accomplish that). It makes me just so giddy and happy to think about all the beautiful new Kat content that it will produce <3

This year’s Katoberfest will be held October 22-29, 2023. 

There are seven days of prompts + a free day:

Sunday October 22: Only One Bed or Kat Survives AU

Monday October 23: First Kiss or OTP

Tuesday October 24: Cuddling for Warmth or Cold Space

Wednesday October 25: Mirror Universe or "I knew you were trouble"

Thursday October 26: Academy Era or Kat in the 32nd Century

Friday October 27: Accidental Child Acquisition or Mission Fic

Saturday October 28: Where is Katrina Cornwell right now?

Sunday October 29: Free Day

There are extra challenges:

1. The Katrina: post every day 2. The Cornwell: combine both of the day's prompts into one work 3. The Vice Admiral: set this playlist to shuffle and create a work inspired by the first song that plays 4. The Admiral: create one work that includes at least five of the fifteen available prompts.

There are no requirements or limits to any medium (e.g. word count, art style, length of vid or pod, etc.).

You may answer as many, or as few, as you like and there is no specific format. The prompts are jumping off points and may be considered in universe or meta. Answers may take the form of essay, discussion, fiction, artwork, bulleted lists, gifsets, vids, vlogs, comics, whatever! It is also fine to answer prompts on a different day than that which corresponds with the prompt (if you miss it, or it is simply easier for you). There is no right or wrong way to participate! The purpose of Katoberfest is to celebrate Admiral Cornwell, not create work or drama.

Peace And Love - Katrina Cornwell/Mirror Philippa Georgiou

A/N: Day 7 of @theadmiralslegion 's Katoberfest.

Alone in the middle of a secret hideaway had never really been how Katrina Cornwell had expected her life to go. She had never thought she could end up here, much less with the Terran Empress who came through to take the lost Philippa’s place. Still, she wakes peacefully, contentedly curled against Philippa, the two soaking up each other’s closeness. They had stepped away only once, to rescue Una from her fate, but even now, even with Una with them, it feels like home. It feels right. They will never have to be alone again. Slowly, of course, the world changes. Their world expands to welcome La’an, Una smiling and a little flushed when the girl comes home. It is a new world, but it’s here and it’s hers and it feels right. It feels like she was always meant to end up here.

Bitter Memories And Hopeful Futures - Katrina Cornwell/Michael Burnham

A/N: Day 5 of @theadmiralslegion 's Katoberfest 2023. This uses both prompts: Academy Era & Kat in the 32nd Century.

“Oh look at you…” Michael’s smile is soft as she looks at the photo that flickers into life. It’s been years since she saw Katrina and finding her belongings feels like it means something. This Katrina, Kat, Cornwell is young, this is clearly Academy Era Kat. “You were such a baby…” A pause then. “You were really cute…” She wonders, now, how Katrina would like the 32nd Century, never once dreaming she’d get to find out. They meet, collide more accurately, in the middle of a busy street on a planet miles from home for either of them and Michael knows she’s staring. Where Academy Era Kat had been younger than she’d ever known her, this Kat is her Kat. Still the same bright eyed, smiling, woman she adored. “Kat?” “Hello Michael…” “How?” “Fluke… I think.” “We still have your… stuff. If you want it back.” “You’ve seen it, haven’t you?” Katrina’s smirk is gentler now and Michael blushes as she shrugs. “You were really cute in the Academy days…. I’d have tried my luck…” “Well, don’t let time stop you…” Kat’s laugh is soft, warm and Michael grins as she steps closer, kissing Katrina again softly. “Does this mean you’ll come….” “Come home? Maybe….” Katrina smiles. “The 32nd century is…. Free. In so many ways…” “Then say yes, come home…” “How about we start with a meal? See if I still… fit in.” Michael grins then and offers Kat her arm. “Absolutely.”

Hot And Cold - Katrina Cornwell/Una Chin-Riley

A/N: Day 3 for @theadmiralslegion 's Katoberfest.

“It’s freezing…”

Cold space wasn’t exactly new to either of them but Katrina can’t help reacting all the same, even as she nestles into Una’s space where Una offers her a little warmth. At this point they are cuddling for warmth, Una’s hand slips under Kat’s shirt and rests against her back, glowing where she can’t see her.

“Are you…. Warmer?”

Una asks softly.

“Yes, thank you.”

Katrina sounds happier, less cold and less like she may freeze to death. They have to last only a couple of days but Katrina is alright now, as long as Una can keep her warm.

Missions And Motherhood - Katrina Cornwell/Una Chin-Riley

A/N: Day 6 for @theadmiralslegion 's Katoberfest 2023.

Later Kat would admit she doesn’t know what leads her to scoop the sobbing Illyrian child into her arms as they ran, choosing to save the child even as she made for the exit. The girl is tiny, terrified and clings to Kat even as Una stares at her when she emerges from the caves with the little girl in her arms. “The mission was to… stop this happening…” Kat sounds sad and Una nods, barely stifling her own obvious pain even as she moves to stroke the girl’s hair, noting the soft glow and murmuring softly to the child. “Looks like we have someone who needs us at least… what’s your name little one?” “Liara…” The girl’s voice is soft, meek and Kat smiles just slightly when the girl rests her head on her shoulder. “Well, Liara, would you like to come back with us… or we can find you someone here to take care of you…?” “I wanna come with you.” The mission had been a mistake, Kat thinks. Liara’s mother, Kinadi, had trusted them and died for their mission, now Liara would need a new home. A home, she thinks, with them. She will find a way to make the girl feel safe, somehow. “Okay Sweetheart… you can come back with us.” Kat promises, watching Una’s smile flicker into being before adding. “You won’t even be the only Illyrian…” “I won’t?” Liara asks and Kat chuckles then. “Una?” “It’s true Liara….” Liara giggles then, her smile sweet and soft. “So I can have two mommies now?” “Yes Liara.” Una smiles, noting the girl’s grin. “You’ll have two mommies.” Later, the girl tucked safely into a makeshift bed on the sofa, Kat watches Una with the girl and wonders how she got so lucky, her voice soft when Una moves to kiss her softly. “You are… incredible Katrina Cornwell…” “She deserved to live…. I know her mom died for us but she… she looks like you.” Kat’s smile softens. “Almost like we were supposed to find her…”

I Knew You Were Trouble When You Walked In - Mirror Katrina Cornwell/Mirror Una Chin-Riley

A/N: Day 4 of @theadmiralslegion 's Katoberfest. Uses both prompts: Mirror Universe & "I Knew You Were Trouble."

“I knew you were trouble…” Katrina sounds amused even as she plaits the girl’s hair, seeming to ignore her trembling. Una had been lucky, of course. Many could-have-been pets and lovers had been set aside or killed. Still, she knew Una would settle, they always did. “Look at you, staring in the mirror like a prim little princess…” There’s a tug then, dragging a gasp from Una who winces. She wonders what a mirror universe looks like… Is Kat there kinder, less abrasive, is she braver, less broken. She will never know, of course, living in the Terran empire means she is a pet, a kept toy for people to play with. “Are you going to behave now, little Princess?” “Yes ma’am.”

The Romantic Type - Katrina Cornwell/Una Chin-Riley

A/N: It's part 12am for me so this is me doing it for a second Day... Day 2 for @theadmiralslegion, this one uses both prompts: OTP & First Kiss.

Had you told Katrina she’d find her home in Una’s arms, consider the woman her one true person, she would have laughed at you… but she does. She feels safest here, held tight and loved with a passion she hasn’t felt in years. In the end, their first kiss comes at the end of a fight. A fight between Katrina and Chris, of course. Una can see how coldly Katrina looks at him as he lets Marie Batel into the room. Katrina stands between Marie and Una, makes it clear she disagrees with the process. People learn just how angry as Marie leaves that same day, Chris is demoted swiftly and Una is placed in his seat as a Captain, Katrina selecting La’an as Una’s new Number One. The decision hangs in the air until La’an thanks Kat, excusing herself to change. Una crosses the room in four long strides, catching Katrina’s face in tender hands, thumbs brushing away angry tears before she kisses her. It’s deep and strong and sweet. It feels right. Katrina’s arms loop around her, pulling her down and closer, letting the kiss deepen further before she pulls away. “Shift time, Captain Chin-Riley…” “Yes, Admiral Cornwell.”

An Admiral's Duty (To Share A Bed) - Katrina Cornwell/Una Chin-Riley

A/N: Day 1 of Katoberfest 2023. God bless @theadmiralslegion.

Katrina had been ‘dead’ for mere minutes when Una pulls her into the shuttle, the door shuts, Una settles to work and cleans as much as she can of the unbroken skin on Kat’s body, pausing to set the autopilot to take them home before cleaning the wounded skin far more tenderly, settling to cleaning the major burns, healing them with both hyposprays and traditional medicines, watching the burns fade before settling to gently close what smaller wounds there are. She falls asleep curled around Kat that night. They have days of travel since she had snuck away from the ship. Chris had known, she’s sure but her focus is still on Kat. Sharing the one bed in the shuttle is easy. She wakes to Kat’s arm around her waist, a sigh escaping her at the realization Kat had settled against her chest. Her fingers trail slowly through Kat’s hair then, her voice a low murmur. “Welcome home Kat…”
