i wanna know your thoughts on the kankuro rarepairs you don't really write for or even talk about much, so any prompt(s) of choice for kankusai, kanklee, and/or nejikank?

Nejikank:

I never write Neji because, I don't know, I dont have him figure out and I haven't found the angle through which he would interest me. (I'm not saying he isn't interesting! But we haven't clicked yet.)

I do really like Kankurou and Tenten as a friendship, so I'm thinking maybe when Kankurou is in Konoha they spar every so often? Neji lives AU. Kankurou doesn't know Neji much, just to the extend that he's part of the Konoha 13 so they are vaguely appointed. But maybe he sees him around at times and I mean, he's a little pretty. He could ask Tenten if he's free. She might be excited about the gossip potential of seeing all of this unfold so she encourages it.

Or maybe Neji's having a rough time because of som clan shit or idk and Kankurou asks Tenten "Is you're teammate okay? He's been looking stressed out lately." and she explains a bit and Kankurou goes for a chat and offer a spar to Neji to distract him for a bit. After all Kankurou's not foreign to councils and heirs bullshit haha.

KankuLee:

I had never thought about them and it's a bit hard to imagine I think because I ship GaaLee too much haha. (But then again I do ship KankuShika extensively, so that shouldn't stop me.)

I imagine Lee being over in Suna and sparring with Kankurou, and he's very enthusiastic about it because he is who he is, giving advices and praising Kankurou for good moves while they spar. And it's pissing Kankurou off that Lee is so much better than him that he has the time to do that while fighting 😂 Lee would be like "That was a great parade Kankurou-san!" while counterattacking with no struggle and Kankurou feels a little taken pity on. Lee is genuine, of course, but well, it's not rubbing Kankurou's ego the right way. He needs to come back to Lee for something he can win this time and flatter his self esteem with a bit. Maybe that thing is flirting, who knows?

KankuSai:

I have an AU I have never written for yet that among others includes KankuSai. It's mostly a BDSM smut AU with Kankurou as a Dom. Sai's non-binary and not super experienced. They're the one of Kankurou's partners that he is the most gentle with. It's mostly a work of proving them that they are very much desirable and that there is no need to overpass their boundaries and do things that they're not comfortable with or that make them dysphoric to find ways to 1 feel good themselves 2 make a partner feel good.

For a more canonverse thing, I can actually also see it with Sai being the most proactive one in them getting together! Trying to hit on on Kankurou and his technique is probably... You know. Sai. At times too blunt, at times convoluted in an obscure way because he's read that in a book. And at first Kankurou is wondering if he's just making fun of him and is pretty confused by the whole thing, but eventually he decides to give it a try. After all he does have that much to loose. At worse it'll be weird between them but it's already weird, so. And it goes well! Sai is actually a bit funny and nice an interest, even if his communication is not always easy to understand. So they do it again and eventually I suppose become a thing.

hahah well TJ.. as you know you've been very influential when it comes to ships - especially for Naruto. First one that comes to mind is KakaGai, but there's also YamaSai and KankuSai and ShikaCho. All of them I still love <3 Also, thanks to you I shipped GaraShir before I even watched the show. And there are just countless ships from other fandoms that I'm not (really) a part of that I have a soft spot for, because you sell them so well :))

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

Errr I guess you could say HP? But that's not Tumblr's fault - all it did was share the messed up things Rowling said and did and gradully all of the moments HP got tiny kid me through rough and lonely times started feeling like a very big lie and I can't even think of it fondly anymore.

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Oh gosh, so many, but let's go for Fjord from Critical Role. All the little and big steps he takes towards learning to accept himself throughout the campaign and the way they don't come all at once but are spread out over like a hundred plus episodes, including inevitable steps backward. The strength it took for him to walk away from the one who gave him conditional power and to accept unconditional love that is extended by his friends and the Wildmother. His arc just makes me so emotional and happy every time I think about it. I love him and I love his journey and I cannot wait to see it animated.

M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.

Yamato from Naruto seems like a perfect friend. He's kind and loyal and usually a reasonable, level headed person who can calm you down in stressed situations. But he's also someone you can have fun with!

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).

For Saraiya Goyou: 1) anyone other than me making stuff for it lol. Usually I don't mind it so much, but sometimes I almost desperately wish I would see the tag update and it's not something I made. 2) drawings and fics from the past are mostly for Yaichi and Masa. I'd love more art and writing for other characters and pairings (romantic or otherwise) 3) sneakily shared fan translations of the prequels and spin-offs would be great lol. They're never going to be translated officially, but scans are taken down immediately as well. I bought Futagashira but I have no way of reading it unless I learn to read Japanese myself ^^;

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

Shuffle produced Pulling Teeth by Green Day. "I'm all busted up, broken bones and nasty cuts, accidents will happen, but this time I can't get up." That's definitely Meg and Zagreus from Hades. They beat each other up on a regular basis lol and I was so bad at this game in the beginning I got Zag killed by her a lot (sorry Zag..) Not top 10 ship for me, but I like them well enough!

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

1) Matsu from Saraiya Goyou: during my first reread the manga, after I learned that he loved Yaichi, I fell in love with him through his subtle and heartbreaking expressions. That's when I really got to know and understand him more. I love that he's charming as can be for his job, but doesn't know how to behave around his friends. He's so skilled and he knows it, yet has such a low self esteem. He's just a highly skilled, very pathetic little grumpy guy that deserves all the love in the world. And I give him as much as I can. 2) Caduceus from Critical Role: perfect, big, chill cow man who has the best advice and calming words for others, but can't recognise his own problems, let alone how to deal with them. He's so dumb and wise and I love him. 3) Gerry from the Magnus Archives: he's one of those people that seems to be full of contradictions. He's so bitter and stubborn and impatient and crude, but in a way that feels friendly? His life was so full of grief and horror from the moment he was born and he just wants a break from it all, but at the same time he can't stop himself from helping people who are about to fall - or have already fallen - victim to the horrors. The fear and defiance he lived (and died) with is heartbreaking and admirable.

Prompts from this post—Breaking the Rules, Pool

I struggled with this for weeks and then suddenly yesterday the rest of it just poured out. I don’t know how good it is but thank you for the prompt, and happy birthday!

Sai was very sure they weren’t actually supposed to be here; it was well after midnight and the gates around the pool had all been locked. Neither were there any other patrons at the pool nor any lifeguard on duty, but Kankurou had assured him that he knew what he was doing so he followed without question, for now at least.

“C’mon.” Kankurou peeled off his shirt and dove in, so Sai followed suit.

He liked being in the water; the first cool-wet shock and the sense of semi-weightlessness were very pleasant, and the runnels and rivulets cascading over his skin as he surfaced were a sensory experience that he found invigorating.

Despite the desert cooling considerably at night Suna’s buildings still held the heat of the day, so when Kankurou suggested a midnight swim Sai had readily agreed, and it was in fact as refreshing as his boyfriend had promised.

He hadn’t expected they’d be breaking any rules to accomplish it, however.

Kankurou surfaced directly in front of him and threw his arms around Sai’s neck, pecked him gently on the lips. “Feels good, yeah?”

Sai put one hand on the side of the pool to help keep them both afloat, let the other one rest against Kankurou’s waist. “You are certain we’re permitted to be here?”

“Mmmmmmnope.” Kankurou kissed his chin. “That’s half of what makes it so fun.”

Sai said nothing, but his doubt must have shown on his face, because Kankurou sighed. “Don’t worry—if anyone shows up to yell at us we can be gone in two seconds, right? And we’re not hurtin’ or harmin’ anything. Just enjoyin’ a swim together.” His legs were moving, treading water to keep from sinking; he tucked his face into the crook of Sai’s neck and pressed another kiss there. “It’s only an administrative-type rule, not a safety rule. Admin rules I sometimes don’t mind breakin’. Like now.”

“Ah.” Sai wasn’t entirely convinced but the argument did make a certain kind of sense.

“Look.” Kankurou drew back, grabbed the side of the pool himself, caught Sai’s gaze. “I promise, we’re fine. But if you genuinely don’t wanna be here we can go.”

“...I’ll stay,” Sai decided, and flashed a small smile. “I’ll follow your lead.”

“Oh good,” Kankurou grinned, and abruptly dunked Sai under with no warning.

When Sai came back up again, spluttering, Kankurou was some distance away. “Betcha can’t get me back!” he called, grinning; Sai narrowed his gaze and dove forward and Kankurou fled, laughing all the while.

They carried on this way for some time with much chasing and splashing, stealing kisses whenever one of them caught the other, winding down eventually until at long last they found themselves floating together at a depth where they could comfortably touch bottom if needed, catching their breath. Sai’s arms were around Kankurou’s neck and Kankurou held him snug about the waist, their faces close together.

“Having fun?” Kankurou asked, and his smile was so full of affection that Sai was compelled to kiss it.

“Yes,” he replied, content in the warmth of their bodies close together in the cool water, the scent of the pool and the moon reflecting bright against its surface.

“Good,” Kankurou breathed, and then they were kissing again, longer, slower, more intently as the playful mood subsided, gave way to something less innocent.

Eventually they drifted up against the side, undisturbed in their intimacy, Sai’s back to the wall; he’d opened his legs for Kankurou to fit close up in between and when he wrapped them languidly around Kankurou’s body to press him closer, Kankurou made a low, drawn-out sound into the crook of his neck and shoulder.

“Maybe we should head for home now, yeah?” His voice was low and husky, dark with desire, and Sai nodded.

“Yes.”

They had sex when they returned to Kankurou’s rooms, intense and urgent, moving together in age-old rhythms until they both were sated; afterward, when the sweat had cooled their bodies and they’d cleaned up everything that needed it, Sai lay in Kankurou’s bed with Kankurou sleeping nestled comfortably against his chest, reflecting on the merits of the evening spent.

He fell asleep moments later, thoroughly content as Kankurou shifted against him, a soft smile still curving his mouth.

He says: "Funny, I was just thinking how nice it would be to go to Konoha and experience a Season" the words "a season" are slightly larger than the rest of the text, for emphasis. Sai replies: "Hm, I guess it is all the same here."

Pane two: is a cloud shaped thought bubble, that fills the lower half of the page. It shows Kankurou in a wintery landscape. There are trees, lights and snow falling in the background. He wears a thick coat, mittens, a scarf and a cat-ear beanie. He's holding a cup with a steaming warm drink to his mouth, with a blissful expression on his face. "Winter is fucking cosy," he says.

At the lower right corner there is a tiny, cartoony Sai saying "I have a plan!"

Page three is one image only. It shows the two at a later time, inside a pillow fort. They've made a blanket tent with a string of lights, and are lying on a bunch of pillows. They are leaning on their elbows: Kankurou so that he can eat a green-frosted cookie, and Sai so that he can drink his drink.
