Title: Behind Bravados and Blossoming Blushes Word Count: 1,005 Warnings: Just some cursing and maybe slight OOCness but also if you've seen crushing Kaito I think I did okay! Ship: The Storyteller and her Detective (Yagami x Myself) and Kaito x myself (STILL NEED A SHIP NAME AAA) Summary: For a long while the Yagami Detective Agency had just been Yagami and Kaito. So one evening when Kaito returns to the office and meets the new unofficial hire, he's left at a bit of a loss...

Woah, who's that with Tak? One of the new clients, maybe? I wonder what she's here for... Can't imagine a guy would be so much of a dumbass to cheat on her. Though, if they did, I'd personally knock some sense into them. Maybe she's here about a lost pet, or someone's threatening her and needs a good ass-kicking to leave her alone.

These thoughts continued to run through Kaito's head while his large stature remained paralyzed outside the Yagami Detective Agency. His mahogany gaze remained fixated on the young woman whose back was to him. Although he couldn't see much more than her lavender locks and ivory skin, something about her small stature had stolen the ex-yakuza's confident bravado. He didn't even notice when his partner shot him a glance and beckoned him inside. It was only when the young woman turned in her seat, and her soft chocolate sights finally met his, Kaito got enough of a hold on himself to finally open the door.

His usual cocky strides had been stripped down to stumbled steps that sent the older man practically barreling through the door. A small slip like that was something he wouldn't usually notice, but Kaito couldn't deny the searing sensation in his cheeks as he took in his partner's quip and the airy giggle that followed from this mysterious beauty.

"Nice of you to finally come in, Kaito-san. Did you forget that the door was unlocked or something?"

Kaito could only grumble out a half-witted insult in reply as he hung his head and focused on brushing away non-existent stains on his pants. "Look, I just wasn't expecting to come back to the unexpected company is all. I didn't want to be rude by intruding on you and the lovely missus here."

Yagami narrowed his gaze and raised a quizzical brow to his long-time friend before pointing out, "That's rarely ever stopped you before."

Kaito was about to protest even more but was struck silent by the melodic giggle captivating his ears once more. His head perked up in order to see the young woman placing her hand on the amethyst dagger-like pendant dangling from her neck, and a beaming smile spread across her peachy lips.

"So you're the infamous Kaito-san that I've had the pleasure of writing a few notes on! I'm Rebecca, and it's a pleasure to finally meet you." The young woman spoke, giving a small bow from her seat.

"The pleasure's mine, really. Though I gotta ask, what'd you mean by writing notes on?"

Before the young woman could explain herself, Yagami interjected. "Remember that case we got a while back with the American tourist who got involved with the yakuza? Well, Rebecca just so happened to be the one to deliver some vital info. Not only that, but when she saw how it was in English, she offered to translate and organize it better. She did such a great job with it that she's been helping write out and organize all the cases we've gotten since."

"So you're telling me, you've been making Rebecca clean up and file all the paperwork you've been too lazy to?" Kaito retorted, taking a seat in the leather chair behind Yagami's desk and taking a minute to light up a cigarette. "C'mon Tak, I thought you were better than that!"

Now it was Yagami's turn to hang his head so that a sheepish hand could run along the back of his neck. "I wouldn't exactly put it like that..."

Once again, Rebecca could not contain the giggles burbling from her beaming lips. This led both men to put a pause to their bickering and look at her.

"I appreciate the concern, Kaito-san! It's really so sweet of you to already be looking out for me. But I promise that this isn't so bad. In fact, it's helping me figure out what I wanna do for a career when I'm out of college. So if anything, I'm really appreciative of the opportunity Mr. Yagami is giving me!!"

"Mister Yagami?" Both men pondered as they took in the sight of Rebecca's cheeks already blossoming red.

"Hey! I'm not exactly used to Japanese formalities and all! You guys are both older than me, and I'm tired, okay?!"

Yagami offered Rebecca a comforting smile as he stood up and ruffled the girl's hair. "Hey, don't sweat it too much. This isn't some big formal thing. You can just call me Yagami."

"And you can call me Kaito," The man in orange responded, taking another drag from the cigarette, "Or just feel free to call me whenever you need anything."

Rebecca's blush seared deeper into her pale skin as she nodded enthusiastically. "Alrighty, then you two can call me Becca! Whatever works for you will work for me! But it is getting pretty late, and I should try to get some sleep for tomorrow..."

Sitting up rather quickly, Kaito appeared to be ready to bound from his chair. "Do you need me to walk you home? You never know what's lurking in the shadows of this town."

Rebecca smiled and thanked him, saying that she could manage but if they were back in her home country she'd give the man a hug for such sweetness. Yagami, on the other hand, simply nodded and helped the woman pack up her things. He then told her to stay safe and to text him when she got back to her place.

Long after the lady in mauve left the office and the seafoam green door had clicked shut, did Yagami turn to his older friend and questioned what his behavior was about.

"There's nothing to it, really. I just think she's cute, and you're saying you wouldn't do the same for a cute woman like her?"

Massaging his temples to cope with his workforce partner's unabashed honesty, Yagami simply let out a sigh. "I never said that. There's just a time and a place for everything, man... Not to mention she's way out of your league..."

Fair enough. You have a rare face claim too. If I'm being very honest, I never seen or heard of her before. But now you know how I feel about my celebrities, face claims and everything in between those details.

I've been writing out notes whenever I think of anything, for character profiles and stories. Nothing written yet. But still improvement for me anyway. So I'm taking that as a win at the moment.

Relationships are still undecided. Obviously the canonical couples will stay.. Kizzy and Kaito, Yamato and Naomi even though they never got together, possibly Sarah and Ice (since they were apparently a couple in the manga, which I'm not really know how canonical it is compared from the show). But for original relationships? I'm starting to believe a relationship with Rocky for one character because who wouldn't love a romantic man like him.. Actually I feel like Rocky's the one character who I've overly thought about, so I have headcanons for his character in a lot of ways. So that helps me to write for him. And as for my other characters, well, I'm still figuring their relationships out because there is a chance I'm stuck on that.. Like for my orange character. If she's in a romantic relationship, I could probably only ever imagine her with a guy like Cobra. I'm not saying yes, but I'm not saying no either. So it's a maybe. But I can not see her in a romantic relationship with anyone else besides him. And as for the blue and red characters, I don't know their relationships yet - whether their ships are romantic or platonic.

Exactly! That's what I've been doing. Like.. I can't imagine them being that similar and different to their characters at the same time, which I know makes no sense. Like... Cobra was this cheerful teenager before he became this brooding man, I understand why he became that way but still. Then you see Takanori being sweet smiley man, who is a very opposite person to Cobra. There's Rocky who is this Ice King with this heart of gold, cares about people - especially women - despite his the stoically aloof appearance. Then you see Keiji who also seems like the opposite of his character too. And, which is funny, because Rocky is a man who owns multiple successful businesses (Club Heaven being the most popular business, mainly because we never see any of those other businesses). Keiji and Takanori are completely talented men, so I will admit that they know how to dance - along with the other men - but I can't imagine Cobra or Rocky dancing at all.

And is it weird that a part of me can imagine Rocky wearing street the clothes that Keiji wears in the One Time One Life music video but can't imagine him wearing the baggy street clothes in Higher Ground video. Maybe the black leather in his black era, but not baggy clothes though. And I thought the outfit from One Time One Life because the clothes were mostly black, white and grey. I may be overthinking this.

Have you ever seen the movie Clockwork Orange? Did you know that the White Rascals gang was inspired by that movie. So that might be another reason why I enjoy the White Rascals gang a lot too.

Yeah.. I might give the show a chance. I'm curious about the Pending Train show. Mostly because of Yuki Yamada. But still. It's a new show I can watch, after catching up with the other shows I'm watching now.

Are you watching the DTS spinoff movie? Honestly, the most interesting parts of that movie is when the characters from Rascals and Daruma got mixed up helping the Sannoh boys. That's about it.

i like using lesser known fcs but then i also end up with the problem of having no resources to use in edits. which sucks because i like making edits for my ocs and their ships, though it’s hard enough finding screencaps for j/kdramas anyway.

kizzy and kaito, and yamato and naomi absolutely. im still thinking about maybe writing a kizzykaito fic. i usually end up developing an oc around the character im shipping them with; it obviously won’t be the only thing about them, but it is a jumping off point for me. admittedly, im toying around with a polyship idea for my oc with cobra x murayama bc i think it’s a fun ship on it’s own.

it’s a real testament to their acting skills, because i cannot imagine cobra or rocky acting the way their actors do, especially with the dancing.

im still waiting for the tokyorev movie to drop with the english sub, at this rate the next season of the anime is going to come out first. need my draken fix p l e a s e! i miss him! also kazutora. need to see nijiro again too.

i watched the dtc movie last night. it … wasn’t my favourite. maybe because i don’t really care about dan or chiharu that much?? or because im not a nosy person myself so the three of them butting into these people’s lives was a lil ehh for me?? also chiharu’s crush on mari made me. uncomfortable. the white rascals and daruma boys were definitely the best parts of the movie; though i was imagining hyuga was back at the daruma hq like ‘where tf are the boys? 🤨’

Mom's a Matchmaker?

So in my life, I have my biological mom. She's the one who I usually vent about on the blog, especially when I was younger for a multitude of reasons. The main one is that she wasn't really there for me emotionally, she still isn't but she's a lot better than she was.

But I was lucky enough to meet a woman who was more than happy to play that motherly role when I was younger. She really helped me grow in a lot of ways. Communicating my feelings, setting boundaries for myself and others, seeing myself in a more positive light, coping with my depression before it got treated, you name it and she probably had a hand in helping me in some way. Hell, even just a few weeks ago, I went to her and showed her that I was top of my class in college just because she was the only constant adult figure who shared in my enthusiasm, rather than just being an expectation.

You're probably wondering why I'm gushing about my mom on a selfship blog. Well, that's because all the main loves you see me rave about was because of her! No joke, one of the ways we bonded, especially when I was just a poor kid, was by watching things and playing games she had!

So she introduced me to Devil May Cry through the anime and when she saw my interest, she showed me DMC4 next since she had a guy who was just for me in Nero

She and I watched Yona of the Dawn where I fell for Son Hak (So mad that there's not a second season)

Then she got Final Fantasy 15 and we had both laughed at the boyband jokes online in vids we'd watch, so she wanted me to join her proper on the adventure. By the end of the first session... I was mad that I fell for Gladio... HE'S CUTE AND SWEET SHADDUP!

She's always been a fan of Yakuza and would play 0, Kiwami, and the remakes while I was sick. I found them funny but often passed out or would rest so I didn't fully link with the characters. But when Judgement came out and she played it in English... By the end I was googling if Yagami died because I had a massive crush on him

Then when Cobra Kai came out she legit "forced" me to watch it with her because there was a guy she was sure I'd like... By episode 5, I was head over heels for Robby...

Even though I was pining for Kaito low-key since the first Judgement, she played through Lost Judgement's Kaito Files, while I was busy with college. But since I was dying to know I had her fill me in and BAM, FELL FOR KAITO!!

The only love she didn't make me fall for was my original hubby Raiden! But when she saw how flustered I get when she'd simply say his name, she found it adorable. So I'm pretty sure that's why she got me all these loves because she loves to 'tease' me about them, but it's all nice and reassuring. So moral of all this is I may begin incorporating my mom figure into my work since she's always so supportive!

I feel like it'd be easier to list the things I'm not proud of you for!! I'm amazed by your loyalty and how you're willing to not let get anything in your way. Not to mention the courage you have to be able to stand and fight for your values. But I am also deeply touched by that tender side of you that lies beneath your bravado. The side that wants to help those who have it harder helping themselves, and the ones that may flirt with girls but instantly backed off when they weren't feeling it with no harm done! Not to mention how you are with kids as well! I mean you say you don't know how to handle 'em but you do it in a way that's so heartwarming and dare I say adorable!!

As you've also picked up on, I'm a hopeless romantic. So I wish that life continues to grant you the happiness to keep that handsomely wide smile on your face. Kaito, sweetheart, you are such a giant teddy bear in my eyes now that I can't believe what I'm gonna say... I was a bit intimidated by you! I still remember how I was quietly talking with Takayuki about the case I was translating for him, so when you barged in already heatedly talking about what happened at the 'family office' I wonder if you noticed how I jumped three feet off the couch in surprise... I mean it did take you a good minute or two to notice I was even there! But I had quickly pieced together you were a part of the yakuza so that along with your towering stature and bold personality did make me worry... But I won't lie about how I did find it sweet when you chuckled at my wide-eyed expression and apologized for startling me..

💌: what sweet words do you wish you could share with me?

I'm sure you know that I have so many sweet words for you. It's honestly one of my goals to brighten your day a bit each day, or annoy you... Your choice! So I'll keep it brief here. I know behind that broad smile of yours that you do carry a lot of troubling feelings about your past and the uncertainty of the future. If you ever want to, I'm always gonna be here to let you vent about it. You're still doing so well and I know any woman, especially myself, would and should consider themselves lucky to be a part of your future. And, of course, I love you!

Oh, um, hmm... Well on a day-to-day basis, I got an A on my paper and B+ on my midterm in psyche class! I also aced an open-ended quiz in English when I didn't even read the article it was about. So read it and weep that your girlfriend is a genius!!

In all seriousness though, I'm actually really proud of how far I've come. When I was a kid I was told such horrid things by other kids and adults alike. The biggest insults were that I was an embarrassing burden who'd never amount to anything. I'd cry so many nights fearing that they were right. But look at me now! I graduated high school with honors while dealing with chronic pain, I'm an honors student in college, I'm working a job that I got myself, and I'm putting myself through college. Not to mention that I've come to make so many wondrous friends and loved ones who brighten my day just as I hopefully brighten theirs... So thank you for giving me a chance

Okay so I got to the part where it shows how Kaito got kicked from the Matsugane family, and first off my heart... ;x; Secondly I feel to this day Kaito still has some regret on how everything with the yakuza went down. BUT that did give me the idea that after we start dating, sometimes when we're out and about, we'll link our pinkies together to make sure we don't lose each other in the crowd. With how protective Kaito is, he also makes sure to keep me further from the road and all, and we switch places. So whenever he starts feeling kinda down about his past I just link both our pinkies and smile at him saying, "I couldn't be doing this with you right now if you had stayed..."

That always seems to bring a smile back to his face as he tells me I'm right and that he's happy where he is now before pulling me into a hug.
