Shuri alone in the lab
Was reminded that we see Shuri examine Ross' broken spine, is put in charge of healing him, presumably does or oversees it herself, and is thus the only one there when Ross wakes up. She's an engineer, why is she dealing with medical stuff?
The first-level Watsonian meta is that Shuri -- in addition to being an engineer specializing in vibranium nanotech, neuroscience, vibranium force weaponry, and any and all computer related sciences, is also a pro in "medial stuff"
The Doylist meta is that mcu wanted conservation of characters: if this character can be used for all these very, very different plot purposes it gives her more plot relevance and screentime, and also saves on having to develop additional minor speaking or even nonspeaking roles to fill in her labs.
However, the next-level Watsonian meta is that the reason Shuri's labs are empty, and the reason she's doing stuff seemingly out of her specialty of vibranium forcefield and nanotech (medical treatment on Ross?? neurological deprogramming on Bucky??)  is that both those white guys are in the country in secret.
So she has to deal with them herself, and in a mostly cleared lab.
So maybe she wasn't casually taking shifts at Wakandan health centers before this, but she's a quick study and needs must.
The reason I have it as a second level interpretation is that
a) there was no explanation in-film of the point or any weight given to Shuri being tasked to do something not only outside her norm, but really beneath her skillset and time. No "I had things to do today, but anything for you, big brother" and no "I was busy and had to come up with excuses to clear out half my staff!" or even "I am the world's foremost expert on applied nanotechnology and you have me applying bandaids because you do not trust your own people, brother"
b) that reading is conflicted with in the tag scene of civil war when Bucky is put under ice in Wakanda- there's plenty of other technicians there, no secrecy.
c) audiences are stupid and these films play to the common denominator (if they aren't a slave to them esp in world building) so if something isn't spelled out it can't be trusted to get through.

I love Shuri’s heart. The movie showed over and over just how powerful she was because she cared. Even when others didn’t.
