DBZ enjoyer who definitely has a problem with wanting the big bads to redeem themselves (It will never happen) I draw funky things and like the idea of goku kissing everyone. Lots of queer and au content.
Icon/Screencap and Art rqs are open!
man... I know I've disconnected from DB mostly, but it's absolute impact on my life from the time I was indulging in it was huge. Not to mention the immense influence Toriyama's work has had on society as a whole- rip man, god damn.
LMAO ABSOLUTELY NOT, I imagine something would have to hit pretty deep for him to stop and listen and if it were to, he’d fall into an absolute state of a mess. Not the safest position for a therapist to be in imo
This reminds me actually! I intend to eventually make an essay/analysis post on why I love Friku in the way I do and how I see the ship functioning, because god DAMN do I love them.
Gohan tends to have a very negative self-narrative until the end of the Cell Saga, where Goku (in the Funamation dub) sets him straight by dropping one o my favourite lines in the whole dub: “I don’t know where you got it in your head that there’s something wrong with you, ‘cause there’s not!”
Obviously he got it from somewhere, and my guess is his training with Piccolo. There’s a clear difference in the way Piccolo talks to Gohan during their training versus the way Goku talks to Gohan, and since Gohan is young and impressionable, he adopts their advice as his own self-narrative.
You can’t really blame Piccolo for being hard on Gohan…at the time, Piccolo was “evil” and also desperately trying to save the Earth, even if that meant Gohan had to make some sacrifices. He had to use harsh language to train Gohan as fast as humanly (saiyanly?) possible, but as a result, Gohan forever felt like he wasn’t good enough and was always letting people down (I think that initial fight with Nappa definitely drilled it in his head).
Goku, on the other hand, was “softer” in his training but used language that built up Gohan’s confidence. Positive, constructive language that was meant to build Gohan up, not scare him or tear him down. I think it came from genuine pride and belief in Gohan. That’s partly why Gohan is so ready to fight Cell, even though literally everyone else was doubting him: Goku made Gohan belief he was enough.
