i came home from work wednesday to discover a new dog in our house (which already has 3 cats and a dog, none of whom get along). roommate L is dogsitting his parents' elderly little white fluffy thing while they go on a road trip to see the eclipse (which isn't until the 8th! gonna be 6 whole days!) and he just didn't feel like mentioning this to anyone. so like we're coping, we're already used to rotating who has common room access at what time, it's just a pain in the ass and again very rude with no notice

but tonight he left for a party around six pm. my roommate B and i were hanging out on the couch watching tv, and Bruno started repetitively bark-howling. like the extremely rhythmic timed one they do when they're very upset and not going to stop for hours. so we went up to check on him and the lights were off. he doesn't see well anymore in broad daylight, he was definitely locked in a strange room completely blind

and! get this! they are smart lightbulbs, keyed only to L's phone, and he isn't here. so we physically cannot turn the lights on.

anyway B brought him downstairs where there's light and he immediately climbed up into their lap, snuggled for five minutes, then passed out. i'm sure he was just stressed, poor thing. but that means B's whole evening they're stuck on the couch watching him while i hide in my room with Rio. because Rio is not mean to other dogs exactly but he is A Lot and Bruno does not see well

also his poor cat has been huddled under the living room couch for three days. at the end of day two one of our other roommates realized she didn't have access to food anywhere and put a bowl of kibble under there for her. so that's just her life for a full week i guess

#rio's back to being on a leash in our own house because he tries to go over and sniff her and she immediately goes claws out on him #which i don't blame either of them for. it's just an inconvenience. but it's not one i would have brought on myself on purpose #but nahhhh he can just fuck off secure in the knowledge we'll take care of everything because we're not just going to let them be neglected #zero rambles #our lease on the new place starts april 15th. we are so so so close to being free of him. why ;-;

i am so sorry everyone 💀💀 idk how many of y’all were here when i was originally writing eighteen (crazy), but what essentially happened was that i didn’t get a full fic finished on lance’s bday, so i tried to update every day to get it finished as quickly as possible while still being good, and i wouldn’t let myself post anything else or think about anything else really, and at one point i was getting dms and asks from friends and moots that were like Hey Bitch What The Fuck Are You Doing To Yourself and i was like yeah wait hold on wtf am i doing?? so i took a break from the fic and the stress went away pretty much immediately.

now. since i don’t learn from my mistakes, i did the exact same thing basically with the time loop fic, only this time i pushed myself farther AND i feel bad as hell because i said i would finish it for once 😭😭 unfortunately that fic compacted with the fact that it is march and i struggle in march freaked me out so bad that felt like i was going to explode so i ditched tumblr for a bit. i needed to Take A Breather so i dipped.

anyways i’m sorry for freaking you guys out, i def should have posted something. that’s on me. i promise i’m fine and i’m sorry to say that i will be pausing the time loop fic for a bit. but on the bright side, i’m gonna have a different fic for tonight!! i waited to come back until i came up w something bc i didn’t want to come back empty handed :))

HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH OC DESIGNS THEY'RE SO AWESOME!!!1!!

I was going to just be like “I just come up with silly ideas and draw them” but I feel like that’s far too vague of an answer, so here’s something a little less vague :3

Whenever I design a character, I usually just start out with a very basic character trait or two I want to incorporate somehow (extra limbs, fish tail, wacky face, etc) and start sketching out the character from the head down (though I do do legs first before arms just because I think it’s easier). Then, once I reach the body, I start looking around for clothing ideas! I usually use pinterest (it might be filled with stolen art and ai generated garbage but if you know where to look, you’ll eventually just get shown photos of clothes and accessories), specifically my pinterest board filled with clothing and accessory inspiration, and pick a few items I think look nice :3 (if you really want to be fancy, you can arrange the things you pick in a moodboard, but either way is perfectly fine!) then I just. Let my brain go off! I usually listen to music whilst I draw, so sometimes that gives me inspiration too. Sometimes i’ll add extra accessories to the character’s hair or head after i’ve already finished their design, sometimes i’ll color in the sketch before I move to the lineart, but for the most part, after I pick a few character traits and items, I just let my brain come up with whatever it thinks will look good. TV screen for a face? Sure! Shiny ears? Of course! Tail bracelets? Sure, why not!

Really, at the end of the day, most of my character design process just comes down to whatever I think looks neat :3 Just make whatever you think looks neat and have fun!! :D

Okay. My roommate’s bf that is moving in in a couple weeks brought his fucking dog over today and 😭 like ig it was well behaved but the cats hated it (and both my cats are already anxious messes I dread to think of how they’ll act/what they’ll do with a brand new big stressor added) and it fucking. It fucking REEKS like dog. Like yeah it’s a dog but I haven’t been around dogs in so long I forgot how much like dogs dogs smell and 😭😭 if it’s gonna be here that means my apartment and my things and my blankets and clothes are gonna start to smell like fucking dog and I’m fjfjdjsksk I don’t like this but I’ve also said a couple times I’m not happy about the dog thing and they’re both like “haha well!
