Rolling Stone Magazine Top 200 Singers - The Omissions List
Once in awhile, I’ll do a music themed blog post and boy do I have a post for you. Rolling Stone Magazine opens 2023 with a list that no one asked for. Their 200 Singers list is an all time low for the once flourishing magazine. When you include auto-tuned singers like Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Lana Del Ray and dull as dishwater singers (again, my opinion) like Morrissey, Courtney Love, Michael Stipe, Bono, Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder, you lose credibility in my book. Here are the singers of different backgrounds, genres, and vocalizations (in alphabetical order) that Rolling Stone failed to include on their inept list:
Jon Anderson
Julie Andrews
Paul Anka
Tina Arena
Charles Aznavour
Michael Ball
Jimmy Barnes

so depressed I can't work on the assignment due tomorrow - not because of stress, just feeling so awful - so I started listening to music and I may be tearing up a lil bit

In the 90s, there was a laddish TV show called "Men Behaving Badly", and they were obsessed with the Australian pop star Kylie. But I remember the show for a remark about another Aussie singer, Judith Durham of The Seekers.
“She was always smashingly turned out wasn’t she, the lady from The Seekers?”
“Yeah, you never saw her with egg on her blouse, or the grease from sausages.”
"Of course, after The Seekers there were The New Seekers.. and I found them rather raucous."
For anyone that's ever listened to them you'd know that particular term couldn't be applied to either incarnation. Whenever 'Georgy Girl' would be played publicly, I'd remark the "raucous" line, a reference that would go undetected, obviously.
I picked these records up for £1.50, an absolute bargain. Infectious folk pop music. Judith, you had a wonderful soulful and wavering voice, thanks for the music.
