Captain Fiddles redesign! He is the most functional member of the main 6 and he has never hurt anyone (that we know of). He is able to climb structures and plays well with kids. He is doted on and adored by the scientists who engineered him because he is unable to express anger or lash out. So, he is harmless! I imagine he is marketed as a "sea monkey" to explain his clawlike fingers. He can't actually swim, so kids are encouraged to help him "conquer his fears". Being the most liked among the resort's patrons, he was often given gifts by particularly kind families.

Back when the resort was open & even before then, Fiddles felt like he was in danger every day, but he could never truly fight back. His spirit was broken during the testing phase, and further crumbled to pieces when his "crew" were euthanized-- He was the only one of the bunch who could not feel anger, while the others were killed for being "too violent" and "aggressive" and therefore hard to manage, leaving him isolated. (Although, the giant Cyan Fiddles was able to escape this fate by simply being too big and too fierce to let scientists kill him. Fiddles would've gone to Cyan for comfort, though Cyan was often hostile even to him.) Fiddles' closest friend after the culling of his pack was Jumbo Josh, as the two related to each other in being lost and alone.

Similarly to Jumbo Josh, I feel that Captain Fiddles' presence in Banban's Resort was a poorly thought out decision and a gross oversight on the scientists' part-- it's a miracle that he DIDN'T rampage the way Josh did. There is a reason why people do not keep monkeys and apes as pets anymore, it's not safe! They're wild animals, they're not meant to live like that! His existence is miserable honestly, even if he's the most "successful" case. His inability to feel anger (introduced in banban 7 btw) doesn't seem like a positive personality trait to me, it seems like it's his own way of responding to fear and trauma. He has no fight or flight response, only freeze and fawn.

Sorry that got so dark! I have been thinking a lot about him. Design wise I gave him flocking and a tail to make him look more clearly like a spider monkey. That's what he is, if you didn't know! His case name is the "Child-Monkey". His mask is uniquely shaped and attached in an unconventional way because of his lack of a head/his face being on his torso. It will stay put easier if there is a third support attached. He is the only design of the main 6 with visible catchlights in his real eyes.

i need to reread Dune, it's been over 15 years probably if not 20, because I'm working off of fading memory. But I felt this film did Stilgar dirty even as I got why that choice was made in some respects. And I have similar feelings about Jessica. Not that the film did her dirty per se, I saw what it was doing, but it definitely made her far less complex. I mostly liked what the film did with Chani and Zendaya was great of course. Christopher Walken was STELLAR btw.

I still think it's a little funny that the director either seemed unable to shake Lynch's Harkonnen designs or just decided to keep them.

There was a nice little visual shoutout to Lynch in the film too, a nod that was neat.

I mostly liked what this film did with the themes! I don't think it's as earth shatteringly good best film ever as I was seeing on Twitter, but it was solid and visually stunning. Josh Brolin was also great.

I kinda missed Sting.

Tie between Croaky Panic and Tiger Punks :] There will be no aesthetic consistency here. I have recently come to the horrifying realization that I have been projecting onto Sho this entire time.

Really, it should have been Neku. It would have been Neku if not for the fact that I watched the anime first and they did my poor boy's arc so dirty that I didnt care about him at ALL until I played the first game a little while later, and by then Sho had already sunk his grubby little paws into my brain and wasn't coming out. With him it also comes down to the fact that I had very little sense of how the series' writing usually treats him (his death in the anime being MUCH more generous than his canonical one for example), so I had high ambitions for him. I was in the middle of the loneliest, most isolated period of my life and instantly latched on to who I thought was a deeply flawed loner trapped in a cycle of self-sabotauge finding happiness and relief through acceptance by the people around him, in true and honest love and companionship. Just...the narrative of being stuck in liminal state for so, so long because you honestly don't believe that there's anything worth breaking out of it for, like a thick, murky-glass box with no light beyond it until one day, miraculously, there's a splinter and then a crack and then through it you can finally see clearly, and realize that there is something out there worth fighting for. It's a hamster wheel it's dead static it's a subtle yet persistent ache like a hole punctured or a tiny gear missing somewhere in your body its loneliness and I felt it so deeply I projected it hard onto Sho and made up a narrative in my head for him that isnt really there...or maybe is, kind of, but not to the degree that I've fabricated for my own personal reasons.

Now I NEED him to be happy and surrounded by friends it's pathological. I regret playing Until Dawn

This game was terrible.

The characters were not that great with the exception of Josh who understandably was in grief and Chris was okay along with Sam who was killed. BTW the QTE fucking sucks. Everytime I stood still the fucking thing moved and needing to button mash in two seconds? Is this PS2 Resident Evil 4 because that’s how bad these controls were

The story itself, if only I could’ve gotten into it when I did successfully hit the buttons, was alright. Reminded me of that John Cusack movie Identity but with a less payoff of a satisfying ending. So some survived which was Emily, Matt and Chris which… meh whatever.

The epilogue wasn’t satisfying either. Sure it would’ve been more satisfying if more survived and if the QTE wasn’t the most shittest QTE controls ever but really…not really

So Hannah and Beth were the zombie vampire whatever ? And there was a main one but no real explanation? Josh did all that and he gets his head smashed by… the villain?

This game wasn’t really coherent story wise and I really am annoyed I played it and glad I played it after playing The Quarry because if I played this first; there’s no damn way I’d even listen to anyone’s recommendation about The Quarry because Until Dawn had a lackluster story that could’ve been eons more interesting but this was designed for button mashers and the motion controls were crap.

2/10 for the cast members and the concept but Until Dawn was a very terrible game and while it says there’s episodes now that I complete it…it’s kinda like…why bother ? The clues or premonitions were only helpful that Mike didn’t lose fingers. Oh and that one of the wolves survived.

At least the dog said “hey help, mom is dead” but wow those nails are brutal!

This is season 3. I can’t tell if s1 & s2 took place over one year or two, esp since s1 was short & at the end of s2 castle retired for the summer. Then he returned in s3. So yes, yes Ryan has already had a valentine’s day with Jenny. JE: Lanie doesn’t care for that kind of stuff KR: kha, all women care. Beckett! You & Josh, u got big plans for valentine’s day, right? KB: Josh is a surgeon, I’m a cop. In the unlikely event that we have a couple hours free on monday night we might go to dinner. JE: See?

KB: Hey castle, it’s beckett, call me when you get this. JE: Ooh, castle is going to be sorry he missed this. KB: Why? JE: Society murders! Rich people are always the freakiest.

Outfits are great. We have Beckett in her casual fancy outfit as usual, double breasted which is always nice; ryan with a black shirt, dark blue+black striped tie which we have seen before, & possibly a scarf there, nice grey jacket; then esposito with his fashionable dark green felted coat, grey scarf, looks like a jacket, & then another shirt. Layers. This man must be bisexual or trans to like all those layers.

I love the way esposito pronounces his own name Esposito needs some hair btw. & today he is wearing what seems to be a darker green felt suit coat but it may be the lighting & it may be the same coat as last night. Then he is wearing a suit jacket underneath his coat, which (through the captions) I initially assumed was a vest. Ryan has what looks like a double breasted coat & then a sweater. His dress shirt is ugly tho. Dang that’s an expensive ring! Why would you get a piece of jewelry if you are not going to wear it? He’d be a millworker then, a cabinetmaker. Love a good trade.

These two literally just got here (btw ryan in fact does have a suit jacket underneath his coat) why are they putting Back On their coats? (Wait the inside of esposito’s jacket it blue! Oh now that’s nice! Sorry I apparently love costume design. I used to be really into musical scores but I’m going deaf & TV typically doesn’t have scores the same as movies. Then I was into camerawork for a while, being a DP seemed interesting.) (also uh twin moments puttin gon their coats) Castle idk why you decided to jump to the conclusion that their discomfort with you was bc it sounded dirty. They just stole the coffees of beckett & castle!! & then you see esposito take a sip & ryan lift it to his mouth before trading in the background. Great detail.

Both just pick up the phone & fake conversations XD WAIT DID YOU SEE RYAN PICK UP THE PIECE OF PAPER THEN FLIP IT BC IT WAS UPSIDE DOWN & then esposito looks so soft for her... (the actors play it as if especkett have some history) btw ryan says “thanks bill” to his phone, he mentions in a later season that he usually talks to bill “over there” continuity <3

Meh white sapphires are better than diamonds & ugh hearing him say silicon carbide, “silicon carbide is the hardest common abrasive grain, measuring 9.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness, very close to that of diamond.” It is found naturally as Moissanite & honestly looks better than diamond in some ways. Sorry I just really really love minerals & rocks. Silicon carbide is generally made in labs tho. White sapphires are actually more different to diamonds than silicon carbids & diamonds’ differences. White sapphires are still top notch tho. & tbh quartz, which is silicon dioxide, has a better structure to it imo. Hexagons are some of my fave shapes. & I mean quartz is still what a 7 on the moh’s scale of hardness? A lab grown quartz is better than any old rhinestone. Oh my goodness I’ve just realized how much time I spent reading & writing about this. Rocks are just so good.

I'm so mad that Spectacular Spiderman got cancelled after two seasons aside from Into the Spiderverse it's probably my favorite Spiderman media. All the characters were really interesting and the art style is so simple and effective it's a real shame they couldn't make more :[

random hobbies i think the ud kids have

hannah - she buys and repaints those weird dolls with the articulated joints. beth has 100% been scared shitless after turning a corner and walking into hannah wearing giant fkn magnifying glasses carrying a half painted doll head, and it’d explain why the washingtons have a doll house in the basement thats full of what looks like high end designer dolls fghjk

beth - bug taxidermy. i used to have this hc for hannah but i think it fits beth more tbh, i just feel like all the washington sibs have vaguly unnerving hobbies bein horror kids n all :’]. she made a butterfly display for hannah one birthday and its one of hannahs fave things in the world. on a related note, she’s the go-to sibling for getting spiders out of rooms

josh - goes to thrift stores and buys unmarked vhs tapes and just spends hours upon hours watching them in the hopes of finding some Weird Bullshit... tho its mostly old soap operas and ads from the 90s. the weirdest thing he’s found so far is what looks like a home made porno that halfway thru gets taped over with an episode of star trek. he was very disappointed. its what a good 60% of his shelves are made up of amidst the collectors edition blu rays

sam - sammy..... ohhh sammy sammy sammy what to do with you. sams the kind of person who, as well as being the mom friend, makes exercising her whole personality and i Love that for her so so much. as a fandom i think we’ve kinda agreed sam rock climbs recreationally, but i think we can extend that to Most physical activity. shes never Not moving or on a hike or doing yoga or at the gym and when she Isn’t doing those things shes either asleep, studying, working, or at a party following everyone around with water bottles.

ashley - once i read a fic where they mentioned ashley drawing with charcoal and its truly never left my mind since. she has them all over her room, taped to her door, over at friends houses where shes just started sketching and Left it there. for someone who hates horror and scary things, they’re always Super Fucking Creepy cause she bases them off her nightmares n anxieties. her hands always have black soot all over them and her rings leave little white spots when she takes them off

chris - paints and collects figures, everything from warhammer to gundams to ships in bottles, if its to scale hes gonna want it. its kinda hard for him cause hes got those big sausage fingers but he manages. has whole shelves full of the things and paints dnd figures if u ask him nicely. also owns a pair of those magnifying glasses that hannah has for her dolls and he looks like the epitome of nerdism when his mum comes in with snacks for him and he looks up from painting a fkn orc in his barely lit bedroom with those things on

jessica - collects bottle caps, she just has a whole drawer full of the things. shes been doing it since she was a kid and wants to find Some way to display them one day but not any time soon, has a surprising amount of variety considering she almost exclusively drinks diet coke. she also steals everyone elses before they throw them out and it’s not just everyones habit to hand jess their bottle caps when they open a drink, and she just makes grabby hands at them until they do

emily - emily has bigggg collage energy. but like, rly artistic and fancy shit?? like she goes to thrift stores to find stacks of old magazines and newspapers and art books and fashion catalogues and has whole scrapbooks full of her creative ideas. semi related, but i think shes Big into designing her own clothes and uses said collages as a way to kinda blurt her ideas onto paper in a more fun way. NOBODY but jess has seen these btw, they are Very Secret and Embarrassing

matt - BAKING!! matt loves baking so much i swear to GOD this boy knows how to make a killer tray of brownies. whatever his family dont eat he ends up taking to whatever party and/or gathering everyone else is at because he just makes so much stuff it’ll go to waster otherwise (and having a friend group where half of them are stoners defo helps)

mike - hes always struck me as a mechanic kinda guy?? like he used to hang out in the garage when he was a kid and watch his dad fix the family car and hand him the tools. it translated into him always wanting to tinker with something, tho he usually breaks it. had those “build ur own lamp” kits as a kid
