As a follow up to my last Coffee Talk post, I got Episode 2 yesterday and finally reached this part last night. The cameo was so much longer and more ridiculous (in the best way) than I expected and I enjoyed it a lot (also I am so curious now about the brunch incident...) I don't want to spoil too much for anyone but in addition to the silliness you'd expect from Darkside Detective content, Francis was very sweet and at least moderately helpful and it was really cute character stuff.
Also Coffee Talk Episode 2 in itself is super good; I've only gone through it once but it's obvious there's tons more to the story and I'm excited to play more! Super well done follow up to the first part in that it still feels like Episode 1, with a lot of the same returning characters, but still feels 'new' rather than like it's rehashing the same thing over again. Very nice, even though I found myself wanting to reach through the screen whenever some people would order something vague and then be all ??? when I didn't get it right. >:|
(But yeah go play both episodes of Coffee Talk they're lovely. ♥)

Hi everyone! Coffee Talk Ep.2: Hibiscus& Butterfly is out on steam!!
Coffee Talk is a cozy talking sim/visual novel featuring light barista mechanics where you brew warm drinks for weary customers and listen as they…spill the beans… and the continuation, Ep. 2 is here for you to don the apron once again and meet new and old friends alike!
Here are comics I drew for the promotion. This one features the two of the three new characters that will appear in the game, Lucas the Satyr and Riona the Banshee! And of course, Jorji is there to uncover a certain mystery along with them...
There will be two more comics after this, will post accordingly!
We (the devs team) hope you enjoy the game, and if you do, please leave us a review on Steam :] it'll help us a lot!

Long Overdue Talk of Coffee
I have no idea how I haven't talked about this on here yet. Probably because I talk at so much length in my real life about how much I love this game. Genuinely it has helped reignite my love for VNs, it is incredible. I'm talking, of course, about the incredible coffee shop sim Coffee Talk (including the much more recent sequel)!
Tumblr media
Everything about these games is so cute and vibey. I'm just mixing these tasty beverages (irl tasty beverages are about the only way to keep my ass hydrated, idk why I'm so bad at drinking water), talking to these great fantasy characters about their lives, even helping them out occasionally.
Tumblr media
I will say, I didn't get a screenshot of it apparently, but the new item mechanic is sooooo good, if a little infuriating at times. I love having this additional way to interact with characters and influence the story in a way that doesn't feel weirdly disconnected from how people work. Like yeah, getting a nice tea latte can set me on track for a good day, but you know what does that wayy better? Someone handing me my house keys that I thought I'd lost.
Tumblr media
This one is just because I love Jorji, only cop I respect. Loves his daughter, afraid of ghosts, perfect man right here.
Tumblr media
Having a log really is a necessity for me when playing games where it's possible to skip past dialogue. Sometimes my fingers get twitchy, game devs! Let me see the thing I accidentally clicked passed, especially if it's a really nice moment talking about overcoming tendencies towards prejudice!
Tumblr media
This is just an advertisement for genmaicha. My favorite type of tea. Drink this shit every time I need a tasty beverage and also am okay to drink caffeine. Irl caffeine real dangerous for me, so getting to look at these cute drinks and do my cute latte art helps keep me safe. Truly the best game I have played in a long time.

Tonight I'm playing coffee talk, I played it awhile back but never finished it I think I got to day 3 last time. I accidentally skipped something and didn't know what was going on so I'm playing it again. I like it so far. It's cute. I'm on day 2? I just met Jorji and made his honey coffee. I wonder how that tastes? Hmm 🤔 maybe I'll try it in the morning, with a little bit of milk.
I love the pixel art style and I think I'll draw some fan art I like Freya she's silly

How To Brew Every Drink In The Game
New Post has been published on https://excellentreview.online/how-to-brew-every-drink-in-the-game/
How To Brew Every Drink In The Game
Quick Links
Day Twelve & Day Thirteen
Seattle is a city world-renowned for coffee roasting, coffee culture, and the number of coffeehouses it has. So it is the perfect place to set a barista simulator game like Coffee Talk. Fans of VA-11 Hall-A will be familiar with the general concept of the game but, instead of a bartender in a futuristic cyberpunk world, players are a barista in an alternative modern setting where many of Seattle’s inhabitants are from fantasy races like orcs and elves.
RELATED: Tastiest-Looking Food In Video Games
GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
Despite being from these fantasy races, a lot of Seattle’s inhabitants have very human problems, and it’s up to the player to listen to their problems and serve them the right drink. Being a barista simulator/visual novel, there are a lot of different drinks to make. There are five base ingredients; tea, chocolate, milk, green tea, and coffee from which all the drinks are made.
Starting Recipes
At the start of the game, there five drink recipes in the “Brewpad” app recipe list and four will be made on Day One when serving Freya, Lua, and Baileys. Freya wants an Espresso, Lua wants a Dark Chocolate, and Baileys will end up ordering two drinks, a Cappuccino with Latte Art and a Green Tea Latte. The recipes for those drinks and the other starting drinks are;
Espresso: Coffee, Coffee, Coffee
Dark Chocolate: Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate
Cappuccino with Latte Art: Coffee, Coffee, Milk (When it comes to Latte Art, what’s drawn doesn’t matter.)
Green Tea Latte: Green Tea, Milk, Milk
Caffe Latte: Coffee, Milk, Milk
Day Two & Day Three
Day Two and Day Three will introduce several more characters and drink recipes. Freya will have her usual Espresso, but there will be five more recipes unlocked as Jorji, Gala, Hyde, Myrtle, and Rachel are introduced. On Day 2, Jorji wants a Honey Coffee and Gala and Hyde want a Jahe Tubruk. On Day 3 Myrtle wants Honey Milk, Rachel wants Milk, and Jorji wants Cough Syrup.
Honey Coffee: Coffee, Honey, Honey
Jahe Tubruk: Coffee, Cofee, Ginger
Honey Milk: Milk, Honey, Honey
Milk: Milk, Milk, Milk
Cough Syrup: Green Tea, Lemon, Honey
Day Four & Day Five
Between Day 4 and Day 5 there will be five new recipes discovered. During Day 4, characters that have already been introduced will return. Hyde will want a Ginger Green Tea, Freya will want something different from her usual Espresso, an STMJ, Lua will want a Green Tea Latte and Gala will want a Gala Had. It’s important to make the Gala Had for him either on Day 4 or Day 7 as it will come into play later in the game.
RELATED: Best Games That Make You Hungry
On Day 5 Myrtle will return and will want a Café Latte and there will be two new characters introduced; Neil and Aqua. Neil will ask the player to make them anything, and it’s a good opportunity to try and figure out a new recipe. One of the potential new recipes to learn is the Black Lemon. Aqua will want a Masala Chai.
Ginger Green Tea: Green Tea, Ginger, Ginger
STMJ: Milk, Ginger, Honey
Gala Had: Tea, Milk, Ginger
Black Lemon: Coffee, Coffee, Lemon
Masala Chai: Tea, Ginger, Cinnamon
Day Six & Day Seven
Day 6 and Day 7 will only offer two new drink recipes and one new character. On Day 6 Aqua will return and want a Russian Tea, Freya will go back to her usual Espresso and the new character Hendry will want an STMJ. On Day 7 only Gala and Baileys will visit the coffee shop. If Gala wasn’t made a Gala Had on Day 4 make sure to make him one today. And Baileys will want a Ginger Latte.
Russian Tea: Tea, Lemon, Cinnamon
Ginger Latte: Coffee, Ginger, Milk
Day Eight & Day Nine
There are 6 new recipes to learn between Day 8 and Day 9, and all the characters in the game will have been introduced. Gala will want a Gala Had once again. Hyde will want a new drink, the Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Neil will show up again and ask for anything, and a good new recipe to try on them would be a Milky Way. Day 9 will have Aqua, Myrtle, Rachel, and Hendry return and Aqua will want a Marrakech, Myrtle will want a Teh Tarik, Rachel will want a Chocobee Miruku, and Hendry will want a Spanish Sahara.
Milky Way: Milk, Honey, Mint
Midsummer Night’s Dream: Tea, Lemon, Honey
Marrakech: Green Tea, Mint, Mint
Teh Tarik: Tea, Tea, Milk
Chocobee Miruku: Chocolate, Honey, Milk
Spanish Sahara: Chocolate, Milk, Ginger
Day Ten & Day Eleven
Day 10 the coffee shop will only have two customers, Freya and Myrtle. But Freya will want something new, prompting a new recipe, Black Magic. Myrtle will want a Jahe Tubruk. Day 11 is a pretty intense day. It’ll finish Lua and Baileys’ arc and give the achievement “Love of my life” as long as they were served the right drinks.
RELATED: New & Upcoming Cooking Sims
Baileys will want a Bitter Heart and Lua will want a Gingerbread Coffee. Freya will want an Espresso, despite how against the idea the player will be. If they want to grab the achievement “Is this is?” they’ll have to serve her anything other than Espresso. After Lua and Baileys leave, Gala will storm into the coffee shop in his fury werewolf form. Serve him a Gala Had, and it’ll calm him down, and he’ll leave.
Black Magic: Coffee, Mint, Honey
Bitter Heart: Chocolate, Ginger, Cinnamon
Gingerbread Coffee: Coffee, Ginger, Cinnamon
Day Twelve & Day Thirteen
By Day 12 all the characters’ Tomodachill profiles should be unlocked, and the player will earn the “Social Media Fever” achievement. Freya, Gala, Rachel, and Hendry will come in on this day. Rachel will want a Café Latte, Gala will want a Gala Had and Hendry will want Milk.
Freya comes in with a new order that will unlock a new recipe, Sugar & Spice. Day 13 will conclude Hendry and Racheal’s arc and give the achievement “Father and Daughter”. There will also only be two orders to take that day, Jorji will want an Espresso, and Rachel will want a Dark Chocolate.
Sugar & Spice: Coffee, Honey, Cinnamon
Endless Mode
There are no drinks to serve on Day 14 and the player will finish Hyde and Gala’s arc and get the achievement “There’s a Spark” if they make every drink the two asked for. Aside from that, all there’s left to do is watch the rest of the game play out and see what comes from the choices that were made. There are several other drinks to make that won’t show up in the main storyline, unless the player experiments with the different ingredient combinations.
Luckily, Endless mode is unlocked after finishing the story. Endless mode has two ways to play, a “Free Brew” where players can make anything they want for with no sort of penalty. And a Challenge Mode where the player has to make as many correct orders within a time limit. The rest of the recipes that can be discovered are as follows:
Shai Adeni: Tea, Milk, Cinnamon
Shin Genmaicha: Green Tea, Green Tea, Cinnamon
The Grinch: Green Tea, Ginger, Cinnamon
Spiced Lady: Chocolate, Milk, Cinnamon
Bedchamber: Milk, Cinnamon, Honey
Le Menthol: Milk, Mint, Lemon
Lemony Snippet: Milk, Honey, Mint

[I.D.: A gifset containing five gifs of the pixel art game Coffee Talk.
Gif 1 shows a shot of civilians in the town the game takes place in. There is an orc wearing a hat, a woman with pink skin and long pointed ears, another woman with purple skin and horns, a human with blonde hair and white skin, and a another man with brown skin and red hair. They are all dressed in modern, 2020 attire with text beneath the image shot spelling, “It is a city that holds the many dreams and stories of its people.”
Gif 2 shows two shots of patrons sitting behind the cafe counter. The first shot is of two people, a woman with pale skin and a man named Gala who is saying, “Yeah, things changed a lot in just twenty years.” The other shot is of three people: a police officer with black skin, a woman with cat ears, and a pale-skinned person with short green hair. The officer, named Jorji, is saying, “I fought a lot with my kids.”
Gif 3 shows a montage of the player’s hand setting out different drink orders. They set out drinks called Sugar and Spice, Shin Genmatcha, and Bitter Heart. Besides each drink order are the options “Trash It” and “Serve It.”
Gif 4 shows a top-down view of a coffee cup. The player turns the cup as they pour milk to make latte art resembling a flower.
Gif 5 shows a close up shot of a table. A folded newspaper, an ashtray with cigarette butts in it, a pack of cigarettes, a cup of coffee, and a cigarette are on its surface. Text beneath the image spells out, “But some few find solace in the embrace of bricks and wood and closed doors.”
end I.D.]
Coffee Talk is a narrative game about serving coffee to elves, aliens, orcs, mermaids, and other fantasy races! Play as a barista who has heart-to-heart conversations with patrons while serving up warm drinks from the ingredients you have in stock. How you serve your customers will affect the game’s branching storyline in this alternate version of Seattle!
For Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Windows, and Mac.
Developed by Toge Productions, a studio based in Karawaci, Indonesia. They  believe that great accomplishments can start from simple beginnings, and have published other titles such as What Comes After. Recently they have written a tribute to Mohammad Fahmi, creator of Coffee Talk and What Comes After, who tragically passed away this year.

Not a prompt exactly, but Fenrys filming drunk Lorcan being soft and silly with Elide and then showing him the next day
What Happens in Vegas... Part 2
Elide Lochan x Lorcan Salvaterre - Answered Prompt
Elide and Lorcan wake up to find a video Fenrys took of their wedding ceremony.

*******
The first thing Elide noticed when she woke up was that her head felt like it was being crushed by a cement truck that was playing dubstep.
She groaned and then winced at the noise before turning to bury her face into the solid chest of the man lying next to her.
Lorcan wasn't any better. He felt like his head was going to explode if he moved too fast. But when he felt Elide press closer to him, he instinctively wrapped an arm around her, wincing, too, as the movement sent a wave of nausea through him. He used what little coherency he had to keep the stomach-churning feeling at bay.
They both slept restlessly for another hour before managing the harrowing act of sitting up. Well, Elide sat up. Lorcan tried to lift himself and deemed it too much work, so he threw his head back down into Elide’s lap, groaning as the movement made his head spin. She could hear a distant buzz that sounded like a phone notification.
Propped against the headboard, Elide took a steadying breath and slowly started to feel like herself again. She let one hand rest on Lorcan’s head while she ran her fingers through his hair and had the fleeting question of why she was wearing one of his earrings on her finger.
The buzzing kept coming and she saw her phone on the nightstand light up as message after message came in.
Wanting nothing more than a large cup of coffee, Elide grabbed her phone to see why she was being bombarded with messages. If the sound from across the room was any indication, Lorcan’s phone was also receiving dozens of texts. It made her pause a moment to wonder what the hell happened the night before.
The moment Elide opened the group chat, memories of the previous night flashed in her mind.
The casino. Drinking. Lorcan. A chapel. Elvis.
Oh gods. Elide looked down at the hand still in Lorcan’s hair and stared at the ring on her finger. Her pinky, not her ring finger, because it only fit on her pinky; she cringed as she remembered how Lorcan had removed his earring as an impromptu engagement ring.
Engagement ring.
Holy Hellas. Holy fucking Hellas. Engagement ring. Wedding. She and Lorcan had gotten married. In Vegas. By a fucking Elvis Impersonator.
She couldn’t stop the hysterical laugh that escaped her. This wasn’t a situation she ever thought she’d be in. She kept laughing even as Lorcan twisted his head and looked at her in bewilderment while groaning at the loud volume of it. She couldn’t help it.
Her laughter soon died as she realized she wasn’t freaking out. It was insane and impulsive and totally not like her to do that, yes—but it wasn’t bad. She wasn’t upset. When she thought about being married to Lorcan...her heart felt happy.
She smiled down at his face which had turned to press into her stomach as he wrapped an arm around her so he could use her to block out the light. The situation was unconventional, but so were they. And it made for one hell of a story
Elide went back to scrolling on her phone and tried to find the start of the messages from last night.
The first few were with Fenrys. It seemed she or Lorcan had called him to be the witness for their ceremony—why him and not someone else, she didn't know—and he responded immediately telling them not to say ‘I do’ before he could be there to record it.
And then he sent a video.
Elide shook Lorcan’s shoulder and waited until he grumbled something incoherent and turned his face towards her phone before pushing play.
The video was shaky but it clearly showed Elide and Lorcan standing in a chapel next to a man wearing an Elvis costume. Elide had Lorcan’s earring on his finger and Lorcan...Lorcan was wearing a veil pulled back over his hair. All the while Fenrys flipped the camera back and forth to show the couple and then his own excited face.
Lorcan’s arms tightened around Elide as he watched the video. He blinked once and sat up, rubbing a hand down his face, before looking pointedly down at her finger that still held his earring. When his eyes met hers again, they were worried. As if he was unsure what her reaction to all this would be.
“Did we…” He asked, brows furrowed,
“Yeah,” she nodded, glancing down at he finger again “we did.”
“We got married.”
“Uh-huh.”
“In Vegas, drunk off our asses, by Elvis?”
“Yup,” Elide answered with a ‘pop’ and finally let the grin that’d been aching to show itself, spread across her face.
Lorcan searched her face for any panic, but finding none, offered a small smile in return before resting his chin on her shoulder and gesturing for her to play the video.
“Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?” Elvis said, monotonously.
The Lorcan in the video nodded vigorously and replied “Yes, Mr. Elvis, sir. I want to make this woman my wife. Elide, El, ‘Lide, you are the coolest, most badass lady I know. Way better than Gala-what’s-her-face and more beautiful than...than..”
“Fenrys?” Drunk Elide suggested, giggling as Fenrys protested and shook the camera.
“Yes,” Drunk Lorcan agreed, “you are so much more beautiful than Fenrys.”
And then Drunk Lorcan lifted his hand and booped Drunk Elide on the nose, sending her into another fit of giggles.
Sober Elide was trying her absolute hardest not to laugh at the recording because Sober Lorcan looked like he was going to throttle Fenrys for getting evidence of this on video.
“And do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?” Elvis droned on.
Drunk Elide swayed as she laughed and then abruptly got herself back together before nodding. “I do. I do. Yeah, I take him to be Mr. Lochan. Mr. Lorcan Lochan,” Drunk Elide and Drunk Lorcan laughed while Sober Lorcan glowered and Fenrys hollered a cheer from behind the camera.
Drunk Elide kept talking. “Lorcan, I loooooove you,” she slurred the words, “I love that you’re a big ol’ grump to everyone but me, cause I’m adorable as fuck. And how when you hug me I feel like I’m wrapped up in the best blanket. And I really love your dic—”
Sober Elide snorted and Fenrys almost dropped the camera from laughing, effectively cutting off the rest of Drunk Elide’s vows.
“By the power vested in me, by Hunka Hunka Burning Love, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may—”
Drunk Elide and Drunk Lorcan ignored the rest of what Elvis was saying, by pulling each other into a frenzied kiss. She had one leg hitched around his hips with his hands gripping her ass as her’s clawed at his back.
The camera suddenly flipped around to show Fenrys’ grinning face as he wiggled his eyebrows. “There you have it, folks. Mr. and Mrs. Lochan.” He grinned at something behind the screen, most likely Drunk Elide and Drunk Lorcan trying to stumble out of the chapel.
“Hey, man!” the sound of Drunk Lorcan’s voice echoed throughout the video as Fenrys narrated about him talking to a stranger passing by. “Have you met my wife?”
A moment passed and they could no longer hear Drunk Lorcan or Drunk Elide, but Fenrys kept grinning maniacally into the camera as he said “ Aelin, Rowan, you might have to give up the newlywed suite tonight!”
Then the video cut off.
Elide was quietly laughing as Lorcan groaned into her shoulder. He grumbled, “I am going to kill Fenrys. He sent that to everyone didn’t he?” And almost as an afterthought, he asked through clenched teeth, “Was I wearing a fucking veil?”
Elide couldn’t hold it in any longer and hunched over in a fit of laughter. “Lorcan, you make such a pretty bride.”
He growled and nipped at her shoulder. “Not funny.”
“Extremely funny.” She corrected and pulled the group chat back up. Sure enough, it was filled with responses.
“Rowan says 'Congrats, I hope you both have massive hangovers.'” She snorted at his next text, “'Aelin is pissed you ran off and got married without inviting her.'”
“Why did we invite Fenrys and not anyone else?” Elide asked.
“No fucking clue.”
She rolled her eyes before going back to the texts. “Aelin then writes 'I am so PISSED at you, Lochan, for not inviting me to your wedding! How can there be a ridiculous, Vegas wedding without ME involved....but congrats, I guess. I expect all the details once you and hubby sober up.'” Elide laughed, making a mental note to call Aelin after she has some coffee. “Then she sent a winky face and a bunch of eggplant and donut emojis.”
Lorcan grunted in acknowledgment.
“Aedion sends a thumbs up, and Lysandra writes 'My favorite part—besides Lorcan in a wedding veil, which will forever bring me joy—was when Elide talked about Lorcan’s dick.' And then more eggplant emojis.”
“Why are these people your friends?” Lorcan asked as he sat up again.
She laughed and caught the smirk on his face, “Don’t even try with that, Lochan,” she winked, “they’re your friends too.”
He rolled his eyes and snorted. “No, I am not going by Lorcan Lochan, no way.”
Elide laughed and got out of bed, finally noticing the piece of paper that had fallen to the floor. She picked it up and turned back towards him grinning.
“Lorcan Lochan, it has a certain ring to it.”
Lorcan just rolled his eyes but gave a small, resigned smile to his wife.
Wife.
Lorcan let a broad grin emerge as he thought about the diamond he had stashed in his sock drawer at home and realized that he’d get to replace the earring on Elide’s finger very soon.

A Chat with the Coffee Talk Team
NerdyBits EIC Caleb Sawyer got a chance to talk with some of the devs responsible for Coffee Talk. Join them as they talk about their inspirations, motivations, and of course their favorite drinks to order at a coffee shop.
First of all, what are your names? And what do you do? How long have you been working with Toge Productions?
Fahmi Hasni, Lead Writer & Game Director of Coffee Talk - joined Toge Productions in 2017 as marketing manager, unfortunately, when the project was completed he decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities.
Dio Mahesa, Art Director of Coffee Talk - Joined Toge Productions in 2012.
Andrew Jeremy, Producer\Project Manager & Music Composer of Coffee Talk - Joined Toge Productions in 2010.
Fredrik Lauwrensius, Programmer of Coffee Talk - Joined Toge Productions in 2017.
Jovan Anggara, Programmer of Coffee Talk - Joined Toge Productions in 2017.
Hendry Roesly, Pixelart Illustration Artist (he's actually our most senior art director and art team lead, he decided to help on the project as secondary artist) - Joined Toge Productions in 2011
Kris Antoni, Co-writer/editor (founder of Toge Productions, for this project he took a minor role and advising the team from the sides) - founded Toge Productions in 2009.
Coffee Talk is made with a lot of care. It is clear that the team loves conversation. What went into writing the dialogue for CoffeeTalk? Was it mostly a single writer? Was the whole team involved?
The idea for the game came from Fahmi Hasni during an internal gamejam in the studio back in 2017. He wanted to make a game that replicates the feeling of watching the rain while holding a warm drink and listening to conversations. He comes up with the characters and the premise of the story. Even so, fleshing out the details of the story involves the whole studio, not just the main team members. Fahmi had a writer's block during development, so we did brainstorming and role-play sessions to help him develop the dialogue and stories. We assign people in the studio to role-play a character that reflected their personality. So, characters and stories in the game were actually based on real people in the studio, their personality, and their personal experiences. Kris helps out in the writing and editing process.
The subject matter of a lot of the conversations in Coffee Talk cover some pretty pointed subjects. You also navigate through those topics with a lot of finesse. What motivated you to talk about things like race, sexuality, tech crunch, etc.?
These are stories that were based on our own personal experiences and struggles. We believed that these experiences shape a person and are an integral part of who they are. We want each character in the game to be a reflection of someone real, we want them to be relatable, and hopefully show the players a new perspective on these subjects.
Another overwhelmingly apparent fact is: you folks love your coffee! As a former Barista myself, you really captured the job well. How did you do research for this game? Or are there experienced coffee makers on the team at Toge?
Fahmi is a coffee aficionado and he loves working in coffee shops, that's his second home. So, he's well versed in the coffee shop trade. Other than personal experience, our research method is mostly observation and watching youtube videos. For most people in our studio, they can't function well without a good cup of joe in the morning. And since Indonesia is the 4th biggest coffee producer in the world, coffee plays a huge part in our culture.
Dio did a lot of research about the coffee shop, the coffee machine, and equipment, so the coffee shop setting, vibe, and mood can be delivered as it is in real life.
How long did it take the team to get the Latte Art UI right? It is extremely good.
The Latte Art system was developed in less than a week. Getting it right took a lot longer, maybe a couple of months. We had to do a lot of testing and tweaking. The important thing is we need to make the UI is easy to use, so the players can experience being a barista, even if they didn't have that real-life barista skills.
The end of the game, without getting into spoilers, suggests that there may be more story to tell. Is the team considering adding to Coffee Talk in the future?
Maybe... :D
I saw, in the credits, that some of the characters in the game are named after real people. How many characters were based off of people the team knows, and how closely did some of those personalities come through?
All of them were based on real people to some degree or a mix-match from a combination of people.
Who is your favorite character in Coffee Talk? Why?
Dio: My favorite characters mixed between Neil and Jorji. Neil because they're hilarious in person and one of the most difficult characters to make, and Jorji because I designed the character's personality by myself.
Fredrik: My favorite character is aqua because she is cute.
Kris: Neil is my favorite character, reminds me of my dumb young self.
Andrew: Neil, because he's funny and innocent.
What is your favorite drink, and how do you make it?
Kris: I like Wedang Jahe (Ginger Milk Tea), it's ginger, milk, and tea? I usually buy instant sachets
Dio: Green Tea and Cafe Latte
Fredrik: Barley Tea
Andrew: Mochaccino and Matcha Latte
The music is perfect for the setting so I have to ask: What other lo-fi hip hop artists does the studio listen to, and will the Coffee Talk soundtrack be on iTunes, Spotify etc.?
Andrew: I don't really have specific artists in mind, but apparently there's a Youtube channel called Chillcow and alike to which I listen. Also, I did listen to Jazz music a lot. It gave a lot of influences and inspirations in my song-making, of course. The soundtracks will be sold on Steam and they will also be available on many digital music platforms, such as Spotify, iTunes, etc.
Finally, what do YOU want people to know about Coffee Talk, that they won't get from a trailer?
We hope they enjoy the game :P

@the-kings-cavalry sent:   010  :   what   do   you   think   of   your   muse’s   canon  ? with ANY of your muses! (except hello charlotte bc you gotta talk about one of the others eventually /aff /lh /j)   /  accepting!
answered here! transcript, as usual, under the cut:
hi captain, dearly beloved! um, i’m going to be answering the ask, um, that you sent that says: what do you think of your muse’s canon with any of my muses except for the ones from hello charlotte because you're a bully — no, okay, heart emoji, affable, light-hearted, joking, um, all of the slashes. um, but yeah, i was thinking about this for a while, um, because i wasn't sure exactly which canon to pick because i do have a lot of fandoms that i write from. um, but after answering the hyde, um, and barista ask about, um, things in the fandom that annoy me, i thought i was going to talk about, you know, coffee talk in general. but now that i'm talking about it, i'm like, oh, my god, but what if i did this? or what if i did that, but i'm going to stick with coffee talk for this ask. um, personally, because i have a hot drink next to me. so coffee talk is important to me. um, i think it was released in 2020, um, and that is when the game is set. i believe it was released in september 2020, something like that. so it's been a year.
wild.
it's been a year. um, i feel like maybe it's been longer. i don't know, time is fake. um, maybe it was released in 2019. who knows? who knows, really. um, but anyway, anyway, anyway. so, the, um, general premise of coffee talk is that you're a barista, and you run this coffee shop called coffee talk. and, in this world, which takes place in alternate seattle is what it's called, quote, unquote, alternate seattle. um, it's, like, in a timeline, where humans and monsters just coexist, right? they just, they're just out here. right? so, um, there's, like, mermaids, and there's werewolves, and there's vampires, and there's aliens, and there's orcs, and there's cat people, um, there's humans, obviously, like there's a lot, right. and they all have their, um, own histories that come with them their own cultures, um — forgot to mention there are elves and succubi because i keep forgetting about lua and bailey's. um... sorry. but yeah, i think it's a really interesting place to set, um, the game in, and i think the gameplay itself is really nice, because it's all about like — like, when you're playing through it the first time, it's actually genuinely fun to figure out, like, what drink combinations to give people. um, and the music is really calming, um, you know, it's just nice to be able to play the game. and, um, being able to hear everyone's stories is really nice, too.
um, and so i, like, i was going through the coffee talk tag, um, i think it was yesterday or the day before, i don't remember. i was going through it, and then people were like — there was just one person who made this post, like, “all the people who are like, ‘coffee talk is such a relaxing game. it's so cute and relaxing,’ um, i feel like they've only played day one because obviously, like, once you get to literally day two, they're talking about x, y and z.” and i'm like, okay, i feel like this person hasn't played past day two. either that or to they're just a very specific kind of person. um, i'm not going to hype up the game because of the conversation that gala and hyde have about, um, redacted. um, because i really don't think that captures the vibe of the game. um, i don't think — like yeah, there's some comments made and some jokes made and the characters are, um, you know, pretty frank about their real issues and whatever. but i still wouldn't say this game is about, um, i don't know, someone's ptsd. this game isn't about jorji's lactose intolerance. it's not about, um, rachel wanting to be more of, like, her own person, like — in like, coffee talk does a really good job of taking all of those individual stories and packaging them in, like, this is the world inside the coffee shop. the world of coffee talk really does just exist inside this shop, where people come in, tell their stories and leave. and sometimes they come again, and sometimes they don't. and i think it's really calming and relaxing and it feels like there's just, like, narratives washing over you and i think the game is really well constructed in that way. and it's like, disingenuous to call it, like, anything but, like, a sweet and relaxing game. um, because even when people are like screaming at each other inside the coffee shop, you still, like, have this kind of air of detached, um, curiosity that kind of almost exudes from the barista who's literally just there to be like, “i know you've had a hard day, would you like a hot drink to soothe your worries, if not, you can just sit here and use the wifi, and that's okay”. um, and i think that's a really cool vibe. and i think the stories in coffee talk are really cool. um, the one thing that, um, is a little sad about coffee talk is that once you play it through, like, twice, you're pretty much done with it. um, and that's not bad, like, some games don't have, like, a million replays worth of value. um, but you know, like, i mean, once you buy the game, you do get three save slots, so you can just play it through from the beginning again, which is really fun, because on your second playthrough, things are different, right? um, and it might be fun to try and do it again from your first try. um, but yeah, i just think coffee talk’s a really good game. um, i don't even have a record player, but, like, when they were selling the vinyls for the coffee talk ost, i, like, kind of wanted to buy a record player just so that i could buy the vinyl because i just care about coffee talk — like i didn't, because like, that's expensive, right? like, i’m obviously not gonna do that. but, um, yeah, i care about it. i care immensely about coffee talk. um, it's not one of like my hugest, big, big, big fandoms, but like, i care about a lot of the characters.
um, i didn't talk about the art, but the art is really pretty, i think. um, there — it's in this like pixelated style that feels very nostalgic. um, but yeah, i just — oh, and on top of that, right? how could i forget this? the barista’s brown. um, and you can really tell that this game was made by people of colour. um, the drink diversity, first of all, is amazing. right? like, um, there are so many, like, different drinks from different cultures that you can make, um, and i think that's really cool. like, especially there’s a huge focus on middle eastern drinks, because i'm pretty sure coffee talk was produced by, um, a game company in the middle east, like it's an indie game, i think, that was made by people from that area. so you know, the barista’s brown, um, you know, and other people in the game are not white. right? and there is talk of racism. racism is a big theme in coffee talk, right? and, um, i think that's really, really, really interesting. like, and i of course am going to support things made by people of colour. um, and i just think that coffee talk being a game made by poc makes it that much better, because it would have been so easy to be, like, here's the player avatar, let's make them a white person. right? no, they don't do that. they give the barista their own personality. they give them their own manner of speaking, they give them their own backstory, because they're not just some nondescript brown person — i'm looking at you, hello charlotte.
and like, you know, and then racism is woven into, like, other parts of the conversation like, um, when neil hits on myrtle, because he's [whoops i used he/him. neil uses they/them my apologies] like, are you sure that you're not the person that i'm meeting from the dating app? because she's an orc and you're an orc, and myrtles like, okay, well, first of all, i'm a half-orc. so that's not even, like, are you seriously going to just ask me that just because i'm an orc? right? and it's, um, obvious that she's used to being discriminated against based on her race, both as an orc and as a half-orc, right? like, people assume things about her. um, werewolves face a lot of discrimination, um, in, um, coffee talk, like, gala, his, uh, story arc has a lot to do with, um, discrimination against werewolves. um, hyde gets a lot of advantages because he's a vampire. bailey's, um, has a lot of advantages because he's an elf, lula gets discriminated against because she's a succubus, right? so everyone has these different, like, things that, you know, people discriminate against them for, and because of that, they managed to tell a story about racism without using skin colour, and then they turn it around on its head by having freya be like, “what if i wrote a story where it's, like, only humans”, then people are like, “that's kind of racist? you know, like, why would you say that humans are superior race?” and she's like, “i'm not saying that because, like, hear me out, what if there's a world with just humans, but they still found ways to discriminate against each other?” and then the barista was like, “how would that happen? right? like, how are you going to be racist if there are no different races,” and then freya was like, “i feel like if in a world where everyone's the same, even the smallest differences will — will stand out.” and i'm like, that's so profound. like, you're not gonna get this from white people. i don't know. i just think it's — anyway. um, so play coffee talk. it's like $12 usd, on steam, or you can buy it on the switch if you have a switch. um, so you know, [laughs] uh, you know, or if you want, um, i don't know, maybe i'll buy it on steam because i only have it on the switch because i impulse bought it, um, when it came out, i think back in october of some year. um, and so, you know, i impulse bought it and i played it on my switch, um, but i honestly probably would buy it on steam, um, if someone wanted to watch me, uh, stream it to them. um, so yeah, i'd totally do that. but anyway, um, i care a lot about coffee talk, um, and i encourage anyone who is interested to play it, um, and just support the creators because i think they do really good work. so yeah.
