            In the end, Johnny waited.

            He knew there was nothing and no one stopping him from flaming on and breaking every law of physics that he could in order to get to Wyatt. Not anymore, at least. There was no real reason why Johnny couldn’t have shown up at the ranch the same night Peter left him on that rooftop. He could have flown to Oklahoma, swung open the door whose squeaky hinges he had helped replaced, and jumped into Wyatt’s arms without a word. After all, that was what he wanted, wasn’t it?

            It was that thought that gave him pause.

Yuletide Fic 2023

Yuletide reveals are live so now I can say here that I wrote two fics this year!

The Osborn Job (Flash Thompson/Kaine Parker, rated M, 37k)

The door swung open and Flash came face to face with someone he never thought he’d see again. Kaine Parker stood there, taller than the last time Flash had seen him. Taller even than Flash now, but just as beautiful as ever in that certain stubborn way that belonged to all the Parkers.

If Flash thought Kaine was the most beautiful of all his siblings, then that was his problem. His long hair was caught up in a low bun, his clothes were dark and tight, and he was holding a duffel bag full of cash.

It took Flash a moment to catch up to that last part.

A Leverage AU, wherein Flash is Gwen's hitter, and Kaine is Peter's.

I was so excited to get @pariah-arts as my recipient and I knew I wanted to write something really tailored to Lee's interests so when I saw "Leverage AU" as a prompt in their letter I apparently lost my entire mind and wrote nearly 40k of it. I would've loved to have another month to work on this fic especially since November was a bad writing month for me (so most of that was written in uhh the last two weeks before the deadline) but I had a ton of fun working on it, like, top Yuletide writing experiences for sure. Thank you to everyone who read this and pretended valiantly they didn't know it was me when literally nobody else in the world is obsessed with "Kaine kills Miles Warren and Peter takes for the fall for it" as a concept but me.

New Constellations (Johnny Storm/Wyatt Wingfoot, Explicit 🔞, 11k)

“I’m going monster hunting upstate,” Wyatt said. Johnny looked up, surprised, and Wyatt kept his face carefully neutral. He knew that would get a reaction.

“What kind of monster?” Johnny asked.

“I’m not sure yet. A friend of my father’s from his Olympian days called in a favor. Apparently nobody’s been able to get a good look at the thing. And since everyone knows I’ve traveled with the fearless Fantastic Four…” He pointed at Johnny with a fry. “You know, anyone else would have asked ‘why’ first.”

In the wake of the Fantastic Four's disappearance, Johnny and Wyatt go monster hunting together.

And this was a treat for @nextstopwonderland! I think a common theme in my treats for Sarah is "Johnny Storm in an expensive cabin." It was really fun getting to write some JohnnyWyatt for a change, especially set in one of Johnny's Depression Eras. (But with a happy ending.)

author's note: i started this fic after some discussion in my discord server about what peter parker would be like as a boyfriend when his partner knew about his secret identity - the general consensus was that it wouldn't be a huge success... this was also written as as a gift for my dearest friend adelaide! they are the biggest johnnywyatt shipper i know and they got me completely obsessed with this dynamic. (you should also definitely check their JW works. i recommend this fic especially).

this fic was my first time exploring more complicated emotional dynamics - and my first time writing a cheating trope/fic. i got to work with a lot of different emotions and interactions that i've never had the chance to write before. it's been SUCH a fun challenge and i can't wait to get the last chapter wrapped up and posted. :)
