Do you like video games? What's your favorite genre if so?

I do, but at a more casual level than other people. I'm not one of those intense gamers that know everything about the medium. I just play a couple of games and thats it. The kinds I like are mostly stuff that uses my brain a lot. Puzzles, strategy, the like. I play a lot of online chess and strategy RPGs.

Recently, though, my dad had been trying to get me into turn-based RPGs (Specifically ones from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise because those are the ones he played a lot of when he was my age)...but I got absolutely destroyed in Nocturne's tutorial and haven't touched them ever since. Of course, it doesn't help matters when I'm now in a boarding school several kilometers away from my dad at all times.

My current favorite game rn, however, is Uplink, the hollywood hacking simulator. Both because its genuinely good and because I like poking fun at its portrayal inaccuracies while playing.

ying and wrio met when he had finally gone up to the surface to get an errand done himself – until his sunshine spitfire (whom he had no idea who at that point in time ! ) rammed into him at full speed. needless to say, there was a lot of apologising, and lots of promises to buy drinks as an apology gift! it didn't take much for him to take up the offer from the girl who caught his eye ( and got caught on his leg. and hence, tripped. )

it was history from then on ;–) he didn't realise that she was a social worker who would be working alongside some fortress inmates who actually wanted to leave after their time ended !!! she was to help them with reentering society :3c

[fairy-verse]

Fairyverse is a world where I imagine that background music is always playing; ever so softly, that you can hardly hear it. This is because I personally must listen to music whenever I write, and that music needs to be cherry-picked to fit the theme of whatever story/scene/character I’m currently engaged in.

Now, there are a few tracks I will listen to when I write general information regarding Fairyverse (I have a whole playlist but there are a few musical scores I go back to all the time), and I thought I might share them with you all, so that you may hear the general theme/vibe I’m going for.

I think I will also add the tracks I have (sort of) given to some of my characters as their supposed theme songs in Fairyverse. Is it their actual theme? No, but it is the tracks that sort of just clicked in my mind as being “theirs”, so to speak.

Also, not all fairies will be listed here, mostly just because I haven’t found a specific track that clicks with them yet, but I’ll be sure to update this post when that day inevitably comes around.

Done In by the Stripe-faced Dunnart

The stripe-faced dunnart (Sminthopsis macroura) is a small mammal found in the dry grasslands and shrublands of Australia. There are three subspecies distributed across the continent; S. m. macroura in central, eastern, and western Australia, S.m. stalkeri in northern Australia, and S.m. froggatti in the Kimberley region. These subspecies diverged from each other millions of years ago, but they bear such a strong resemblance to each other that the distinction was only recently discovered via genetic testing. Although they’re also known as the “marsupial mouse”, S. macroura is not a member of the rodent family. Rather, it’s in a separate family: Dasyuridae, a group of marsupials that also includes quolls (Dasyurus spp.), the Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii), and the now-exctinct thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus).

S. macroura is one of the smaller marsupial species, at only 15-19 cm (6-7.5 in) long. The tail accounts for nearly half that length. The species is sexually dimorphic, with females usually weighing about 15 g (0.17 oz) and males coming in at 25 g (0.88 oz). Otherwise the sexes are identical: pale grey or brown fur with a dark stripe running down between the eyes that gives the species its namesake. The coloration allows the stripe-faced dunnart to avoid predators like snakes, hawks, and foxes.

Breeding for the stripe-faced dunnart occurs from July through February, and females can produce two litters in a season. This species has the shortest pregnancy period of any mammal, taking only eleven days from fertilization to birth. Joeys remain the mother’s pouch for an additional 40 days, and she can carry and nurse up to 8 young at a time. After they leave the pouch the joeys will stay with their mother for up to 30 days, at which point they’re weaned. Females become sexually mature after only 4 months, while males take up to 9 months to mature, and both sexes can live up to 4 years in the wild.

Outside the breeding season, S. macroura is fairly solitary. Individuals maintain home ranges, although they’re generally not territorial. Within these home ranges, nests are made from grass and leaves or from digging burrows. At times the stripe-faced dunnart may share a nest with up to 8 others, although these arrangements are usually temporary. The species is nocturnal and spends much of its time foraging for insects and small vertebrates like lizards or mice. When food is especially abundant, extra fat is stored in the tail, which enlarges and becomes carrot-shaped. In the winter, individuals will enter a state of torpor, in which their metabolism slows and their body temperature lowers to reduce energy consumption by up to 90%.

Conservation status: Although the IUCN has rated the stripe-faced dunnart as Least Concer, this species is threatened by overgrazing and trampling of their native grasslands. Habitat clearing and fragmentation are also harmful, as are feral cats which directly impact the species population.

A couple months back, I let y'all know about Prairiewolf's Lagniappe Session over on Aquarium Drunkard, featuring covers of Yo La Tengo and Eddie Harris/Melvin Jackson. We thought we'd post this one today, the first day of Hanukkah, because of that Yo La Tengo synergy.

It's been a fun year for Prairiewolf. We sold out of two vinyl pressings of our debut (CDs are still available, dudes!); we played a lot of shows, each one of them radically different from the next; we hung out with a lot of cool Colorado music lovers and musicians; we even got started on LP #2! Thanks to everyone who bought a record, shared a bill, set up a show, ran sound, listened ... you are the real heroes.

Shadowmoon Legacy Part 2: Settling In

Before she could even think of looking into the dark corners of Forgotten Hollow though... something had to be done about the dismal state of her new home. The last thing she wanted was for a spider to crawl over the books she'd be pouring through soon enough. Luckily she wouldn't be cleaning up the place alone.

Making the drive from San Myshuno, her best friend Jeremy was more than happy to come out to lend a hand. A teacher for the local high school, Jeremy was often busy but was more than a little curious to see where his childhood friend was going to be living.

While they couldn't do much about the cracking walls and distressed paneling, a clean sweep makes a big difference.

Oh and a bit of greenery as well to bring a bit more life to the place.

After a day of working on what they could, the best way to break in a new house was in order. Pizza and some less-than-clear TV watching! The place was far from settled, and maybe not quite up to code yet, but having her friend over made it all the better.

So, here we have the introduction of another character for this challenge. Jeremy McCoy, a teacher in San Myshuno and childhood friend of Charlotte. I went back and forth for a while on whether I wanted to make more sims for this or just use the premade townies. In the end, I settled on a bit of a mix.

Here's a better shot of Jeremy, he's Book Smart, Analytical, and Motivating. I wanted Charlotte to have a friend to help out with her research and figured a similarly bookish sim would fit that well.

Oh and don't worry I've got some nocturnal friends already made that Charlotte will meet soon enough.

Jeez, it's been a long time since I watched a movie. Probably Emma (1996). I watched it with my friends a few months ago, since they hadn't seen that version. Jeremy Northam is my favourite version of Knightley. Also loved hearing my friends' reactions to the wild Ewan McGregor appearance.

Currently Reading

Nothing at the moment. Last thing I read was The Road to Neverwinter, which is the Honor Among Thieves prequel book that goes into more detail about Edgin's backstory, his relationship with Kira and Holga, and how they met Forge and Simon. It's pretty good. I liked it even more than Doric's prequel book.

Currently Watching

Nothing, really, save for the usual Critical Role every week. I'm super looking forward to Castlevania: Nocturne dropping on September 28th, though.

Heart of Stone

To gaze in the eyes of a mystery, and not trouble for its name… I'd be sleepless for weeks. So, my love, I hope you forgive me… another small absence.

It really is a small gesture.

She lays upon its rock paws a pouchful of flower petals she'd been saving. And then she leaves.

It's odd. Hollowness is all that's down here. Even in her chest, just now, she feels there's only an echo of her heartbeat.

But ever and after, tucked underground, a stone-sharing God will dream of her, and she will be protected.

Dreams of Stone

The conversion from the earthly plane to this nocturnal abyss, below the world of the awake, had inhabited her purely a few moments; and only a being of the sublime existence of mind could have balanced themselves to any extent in a circumstance so remarkable. 

Heavy-eyed, she awakens to find her dusky cheek resting on the cold slab. A floral fragrance fills the air. The acquainted aroma intoxicates her senses; and only now does her heart truly beat, reverberating, overwhelming the body. For she knew it was the stone-sharing God she had dreamt of, and she now will forever be shielded in his love.
