best girl yukon making some fireweed tea hell yeah
i grew up with fireweed in my yard but I didn't know you could make tea out of it until I was an adult. I keep trying to steal some to plant but I haven't had success yet, so this year I got some seeds from a swap that I'm starting indoors (along with some other things that are notorious for spreading haha) (I won't rest until I eradicate my lawn).
Anyway, I think you can make a tea out of both the leaves and the flowers, so it'll be fun to try.
Now and then I have been writing tea-related science articles for the tea company Tezumi.
This is the most recent article I wrote, about some of the active ingredients in green tea.
I first found Tezumi as an Etsy shop. They're a New York based independent company that makes Japanese tea culture accessible to tea enthusiasts around the world.
From their website:
The Japanese tea industry is entering a rough phase. As domestic sales of loose-leaf tea continue to decline and older farmers retire without someone to fill their shoes, the future of the industry is dependent on spreading the joy of Japanese tea and tea culture across the world.
To do this, we're working with small, artisanal Japanese tea producers who are passionate about their craft, and are working towards a goal—whether it's to preserve and perfect age-old traditions, to experiment and push the boundaries of Japanese tea, or to create a more sustainable and biodynamic future for the industry. We want to support their efforts by sharing their teas and stories with you.
Through Tezumi, I have discovered wonderful and affordable new teas as well as teaware crafted by families that have been doing so for generations.
It's not often that I promote stores and shops but when I do, it's because I genuinely feel moved to share quality stuff.
If you're a tea drinker, I highly recommend checking them out.
Nobody in my family likes it so I get to have it all to myself <3
It has a bit of a nostalgic taste, reminds me of getting ready for school in the mornings, huh maybe that's why my family doesn't like it.
The people across our house sold their land which means we will be having construction outside all summer, I am trying so hard to not be bothered by it.
Kinto, 767 S Alameda St 2B #188, Los Angeles (Downtown), CA 90021
Kinto is a Japanese home goods store at the Row. What makes the showroom interesting is that it’s their only one outside of Tokyo. Their aesthetic is minimalist and elegant; the products are designed to be used for everyday life. Everything looked nice and wasn’t as expensive as I expected. They have water bottles, coffeeware, teaware, mugs, drinkware, carafes, plates, vases, canisters, trays, etc. – lots of glass and ceramics. I have my eye on the double walled drinking glasses in cast amber ($22 - $24 each) or an aqua culture glass vase for my avocado plant ($18.80).
Online ordering is available. The website has a larger selection than the showroom. Also, the showroom didn’t have much information about the products. The website has more information.

thank you anon you have given me a golden opportunity to talk at length about a background detail that no one except me cares about: The "teaset" in Edgeworth's office is proof that he's kind of a poser.
So first of all I think it's interesting that Edgeworth, known Japanese man, only has traditional English teaware. The VK influence is strong. but anyway. You see this? This bastard has three teacups and a coffeepot on that tray. 18th century European porcelain teacups have a flared shape and are kinda squat, while coffee cups from the same area and timeframe are taller and straight. Coffeecup is on the left and teacup is on the right in the image below
"Oh so it's a teaset," you say. Yes and no. English tea is usually steeped in boiling water, but coffee gets water that's a lil less hot, so teapots are short and stout while coffeepots are tall and thin-- the shapes are important for getting the best aromatics out of whatever ur drinking and making sure the heat does or does not dissipate. Also, coffeepots are known for that domed lid and particular handle shape. Coffeepot vs teapot below
long story short? Bastard is either serving coffee in teacups or tea out of a coffeepot. Poser.
Luckily, however, not all hope is lost. Edgeworth does have a proper teaset-- it's just on the shelf below! Still english (you can tell because the cup has a handle and bc of the teapot shape) but oh well. It's a start
Bonus fun fact: You can see on the shelves behind his desk that he has a sake set and a tray / ashtray for cigars
Japanese black teas have a wide variety of styles and flavours. This Yabukita black tea from Shizuoka is a great introduction to the genre 🫖 . . . . . #honyama #teaware #teaphotography #instatea #teatime #wakocha #japanesegreentea #ceramicteapot #redtea #teabrewing #yabukita #maketea #gongfu #hongcha #japanesepottery #wakoucha #常滑焼 #teastagram #looseleaftea #tokonameyaki #nihoncha #日本茶 #紅茶 #blacktea #和紅茶 — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/eShcGCQ
