Sooo, in FF world people can be morphed into items.
If Morph materia was used on our lovely blorbos, what would they turn into?
I'm going to pick random items because I can.
Angeal - one of my plants. My plants tend to die quickly and seem to be very stressed when they're not dead (I am seeking help from an Angeal in the community, thank you Angeal in the community!).
Genesis - an irritating red child's toy that makes a lot of noise at high volumes and has a ton of flashing lights, but your kid LOVES it to death and nobody will have a good time if you try to damage it so it shuts up.
Sephiroth - a silver mine. You'll think that means a cave with silver deposits that will make you rich... until you stomp on his heart, at which point you'll find out he's a metallic land mine that gleams silver.
Zack - a taxidermied animatronic bear that is programmed to be protective and loving towards its friends. Woe betide its enemies. Or a giant Valentine's bear that is super cuddle and sweet unless you're evil, in which case you'll suffocate.
Cloud - pfft. Hehehe. A cloud. Hehehehehehehehhehehe. A rain cloud, specifically. He provides shade to the weak and thunderstorms to the guilty
Lazard - a stone vase. If you drop him and his mother, he'll break your foot.
Roche - a can of four loco energy drink.
Aerith - a jack-in-the-box with unpredictable timing.
Tifa - a chocolate bar that has habanero chilis in it.
Barret - a fog horn.
Yuffie - the smaller version of the Genesis toy.
Nanaki - a campfire.
Reeve - a computer.
Tseng - a box of knives.
Reno - a medium-sized version of the Genesis toy.
Rude - one of those awesome giant marble-patterned balls from the 90s.
Tumblr media
Cissnei - a random key that turns out to be for your sliding door and saves your butt when you lose your normal door key.
Elena - espresso.
Rufus - a quieter version of the Genesis toy.

FF7 REBIRTH SPOILERS ft. Some of my thoughts on the Golden Saucer Dates >:))))))
I will proclaim which one is my favourite
warning: i hate dates. therefore all my opinions on the following, and my final verdict, are correct. good day.
Alone
Cloud's lonely gold saucer outing, when he comes across Jessie's picture and he tells her, "Hey, still waiting for that pizza" with the most saddest eyes ever.... be still my weeping heart
Also I love how he acknowledges that the skywheel is a couple's thing, then proceeds to board it anyway 💀 it'd be nice to see the whole thing by yourself though (<- i am an introvert what more can i say)
Tifa
Tifa's little spiel about wanting to make friends always hits me like a tonne of bricks, everything she says is FUEL TO MY STUPID AUs... WOMAN <33333
When they Jessie's picture and Tifa talks about Jessie saved her.... oh... oh my heart. i cannot take this anymore
WHEN THE FIREWORKS GO OFF AND THE COLOURS OF THEIR EYES BRIGHTEN,,, AND THEN HUG JUMPSCARE,,,, AND THEN KISS !!!!!!!! oughhh,,,, it's so good,,,,,,, everything is so perfect about the scene they are just. everything
Aerith
NAHHH THE DISRESPECT MY MAN HAD BY SITTING OPPOSITE TO MY GIRL.... HOW RUDE. Aerith deserved to spin the carriage around until Cloud spits out all the mako in him
RAGH when the laser show had them crashing into each other and they just sit down defeated next to each other.... it was so funny,,,, task failed successfully
WHEN CLOUD REACHED OVER TO HOLD HIS HAND IN AERITH'S.... THAT MAKES THE ENDING HIT SO MUCH HARDER. NO ONE TOUCH ME EVER AGAIN
Yuffie
In my mind Yuffie seems like she's 12 (i know she's 16 or so do NOT come at me) so the date is really just Cloud babysitting her and honestly it went just as I expected: adorably :''3 Yuffie speaking for the both of them, so real of her
"I swear Cloud, it's like you're destined to be surrounded by smoking hot chicks" [strikes a pose] and Cloud laughing like yeah, you're a little silly Yuffie
GIRL WAS DOING JUMPING JACKS WHILE WAITING FOR CLOUD TO HAND OVER THE SKYWHEEL TICKETS AJSHSHSL
WHEN SHE STARTS TALKING ABOUT ZACK... AND THEN SHE CATCHES CLOUD LAUGHING AT HER LATER AND SHE SIH-SIH-HAH'S HIM.... AND HE PLAYS ALONG TOO.... be still my screaming heart,,, the boy is embodying Zack in more ways than one
Barret
"Well, well, I wake baby from his nap?" if this were said to me I would immediately leave and mess up Barret's bed. let's see who gets better sleep after that
Anyways I'm forever in love with how, between the two of them, money jokes are their form of love. like that gets to me you know
BARRET'S "IN-KWEH-DIBLE" WILL FOREVER BE SEARED INTO MY BRAIN BY THE WAY. HE SOUNDS SO DELIGHTED AT SAYING THAT. I'M CHERISH IT FOREVER
Red XIII
"I already have the tickets, but look at me... there's no way I'm getting in by myself" dude look at you HOW DID YOU GET THE TICKETS
Red and Cloud are just having a guy's night, it's just so lit, I love it so much they are just good bros and no I'm not tearing up :''3
The two shaking hands is also so incredibly touching to me... they are just little guys!!! and then the "They ARE soft!" from Cloud,,, perfect timing my guy !!!!
Cait, Vincent, and Cid
ALL THREE OF THEM STANDING OUTSIDE THE DOOR HAD ME CACKLING BECAUSE. THE IMPLICATIONS OF HOW ALL THREE OF THEM DECIDED TO RECRUIT CLOUD INTO THEIR GUY'S NIGHT??? well maybe not all three, Vincent being Vincent was probably coerced into it, and Cid just wanted to tag along. The culprit of this outing was-
Tumblr media
Vincent falling asleep is incredibly in character and relatable. return this man to his coffin. two decades of sleeping is not enough.
Cait pulling his hairs out is fucking sending me, poor lad
AND NOW... THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR.... WHICH DATE WAS BEST???
Vincent, Cait and Cid. boys' night. it's an automatic win
jk but I loved Clerith's date the most... maybe it is because I follow tragedy and it follows me, but while the Clofi date is Canon, the Clerith date is so tender, and it really signals to me the could-have-been's. and i love the could-have-been's ykyk
okay bye

Tumblr media
So, we are back. Man, it's so unfair that when we finally got new showrunners they got canceled.
This episode was so meh. I know they had to establish what happened after the season finale and where this season is going but they need to stop with this crisis one thing. These cases are Boooring.
Vic is so smart, and pretty, and hot. She deserves every good thing in the world. I know Barret would kill it in an action scene, why is she getting these cases and with Theo nonetheless. I love that she didn't give a fuck about Theo making out with the other woman. And he looked so hurt ha ha loser.
Travis is so boring. He was boring, still boring, he will always be boring.
Now Captain Andy was ok, I guess. I just hate when shows believe their audience is dumb. Andy has some doubts about being captain so they decided to show it through Ghost Jack. Who, mind you, has always supported Andy in everything.
When Andy said "I support every single person that was promoted over me" mmm 🤔sort of, Maya would like a word, please.
I didn't like Maya's speech to Andy. I don't know why.
Now, I'm curious about where they are going with Jack's storyline. Is Grey Damon leaving the show or did he want to leave but now that this is the last season he is staying? Cause we barely cared about Jack, imagine now that he can't be a firefighter.
Natasha and Sullivan another snooze fest.
Now Maya and Carina, the only reason that I'm still watching this show. Like look how Maya looks at her
Tumblr media
Danielle you are acting choices never stop to amazed me.
First, Carina had a problem with the apartment then she didn't but she still does tho. So, they are moving to a house. I like this idea because they never tried to make the apartment look like Carina lived there, it barely looked like Maya's.
Then, they adopted a baby named Liam(?) surprising no one. But they're keeping the IVF idea.
My guess is that after a thousand seasons of trying to have a baby and Carina saying in talking about sperm and being pregnant, they didn't want to throw that storyline away.
The adoption felt rushed. They should have had at least a conversation about it because it wasn't their plan at all.
Also, it means they are rich, because a new house, a new baby, and IVF treatment all simultaneously? Honey, that's not cheap.
Having all that money and couldn't change the sheets for six seasons. But they will do it this season. It's ugly as hell but they did it.
Love Maya not caring a bit about Jack.
Tumblr media
Hate they chose that version of the kiss. Even though, as Danielle explained, they were fully making out. And I get it they were in a public space, Carina's job. They had to tone it down. But look at the material
Tumblr media
I'm not a writer AT ALL, but what if instead of having that conversation there in front of everybody, Carina took Maya to her office they had a conversation there and they could have kissed properly. Maybe, talk about adopting, just saying.
Like, you have enough creativity to have Travis having sex with Emmet, who's grieving btw, in a house where his mother is also grieving and with the door open.

Alright then, here's the characters, the weapons they use (that's a contributing factor, I'd say), and some details whenever I consider it necessary.
First off, Gwin Evans, 24 years old who uses long swords and assault rifles:
Tumblr media
Doug Barret, 30 years old, who uses photon sabres (basically light sabres) and rayguns (also, voiced by Patrick Seitz)
Tumblr media
Lao, 31 years old, the Sad™ widower who uses a sniper rifle and javelin (voiced by Matt Mercer)
Tumblr media
L'cirufe, the tallest playable character bar none, who uses shields and psycho launchers (kinda like the orbitars in KIU)
Tumblr media
Kentaro Nagi, 57 years old, who wields longswords and gattlings guns - the resident Dunban-like swordmaster
Tumblr media
Phog Christoph, 24 years old, who uses dual swords and dual guns (also very likely neurodivergent)
Tumblr media
Frye Christoph, 30 years old, older brother of Phog, uses gattling guns and longswords, enjoys drinking about as much as Gregor Fire Emblem
Tumblr media
Hector Bumwhistle Birthwhistle, or H.B. for short, 28 years old, uses shields and assault rifles
Tumblr media
Also of note with H.B. is the Superior Form™:
Tumblr media
Bozé Lowes, 54 years old, uses javelins and sniper rifles. Also derogatory, personally.
Tumblr media
Yelv (just Yelv, really), 22 years old, uses photon sabres and rayguns. Also enthusiastically calls the player avatar "pardner".
Tumblr media
And lastly, Jack Vandham, who's not actually playable and 48 years old.
Tumblr media
This is the second time I am answering this because my workplace wifi died as I was publishing it. These are my ratings, which don't mean anything, followed by short commentary.
Gwin: Very Fuckable, acts like he wants to be friends with benefits but always catches feelings. Would I reciprocate? Who knows?
Doug: HOT, we love a guy with a deep voice and light sabers and big guns. It does not get better than that. Hung and everyone can tell.
Lao: Not My Type, but I can easily see him causing multiple fans some terrible mental illnesses. "How big is that dick?" "Small, leave me alone"-type of guy.
L'cirufe: Attractive, monster fans need their rights respected. His face card is NOT declining.
Nagi: HOT. Resident old man whose cervix is being done crazy things to on twitter (or should be). Hung and don't ask me how I can tell.
Phoggot: Eh. Good for him on the neurodivergence but you can meet multiple twinks who look like him at any nightclub.
Frye: Intriguing, looks like someone who lead an interesting life and could surprise you in bed. Further research is needed.
Hbirthwhistleguy: Not My Type, but I'm sure he has quite a reach with fans. I support his Bayonetta 2 cosplay endeavors.
Bozé: Eh, this man will leave you and pretend the child isn't his. Have I played this game and do I know what this guy is about? No, but it had to be said.
Yelv: No, thank you. We have Shulk at home. That man is not 22.
Jack: I Love Arm. I could see him being a secret softie in bed. Spoils you to make up for feelings of inadequacy.

Colin Bradbury, who has died aged 90, was the BBC Symphony Orchestra clarinettist whose dazzling cadenza in Sir Henry Wood’s Fantasia on British Sea Songs held audiences breathless at the Last Night of the Proms for many years. He became principal clarinet in the orchestra in 1960, and continued until his retirement in 1993.
During the 1970s, with Pierre Boulez as the principal conductor, the orchestra achieved worldwide prominence. Bradbury described it as “a unique time, musically and orchestrally – a golden age”. Away from the orchestra, he became an outstanding exponent of the clarinet’s lesser-known 19th-century repertory, in recital and on record.
He was born in Blackpool, the younger child of Jim Bradbury, a railway clerk, and his wife, Nellie (nee Cookson), both amateur singers. Encouraged to sing from an early age by his mother (his father died when he was four), Colin began to learn the piano at seven and soon bagged the only B flat clarinet at his primary school. Using his initiative, he worked out the transposition and was soon playing along with the school recorder group.
At Blackpool grammar school he started clarinet lessons with a local semi-professional, Tom Smith, and acquired a pair of simple-system Barret-action Albert clarinets. In 1947 he auditioned for the newly established National Youth Orchestra, becoming a founder member.
His sister Jean went to university, intending to become a teacher, and Colin assumed he would follow. A career in music had not crossed his mind, so when the viola player Bernard Shore came to the second NYO course to talk to young musicians intending to enter the profession, he did not attend. Ruth Railton, director of the NYO, took him for a long walk, four times around the Leys school in Cambridge, where the course was being held, and by the end he was persuaded. She went on to offer him the opportunity to play the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the NYO at the Edinburgh festival in 1951, on condition that he left school that Easter and began studying with the clarinettist Frederick Thurston.
This he did, missing his A-levels, and started at the Royal College of Music in London in the autumn of 1951, funded by a Blackpool festival scholarship. After a year he left to join the Irish Guards, then returned to the college and completed his national service concurrently with the rest of his music studies. He won the Tagore gold medal for the best male student of his year.
During the summer of 1956 he drove an ice-cream delivery truck to get himself out of debt, having not quite paid for a 22-litre Jaguar with his earnings from a West End run of Summer Song that had folded unexpectedly.
That September, he joined the Sadler’s Wells orchestra as second clarinet, becoming principal in 1957. Playing in the pit was enjoyable, but also “frustrating for an extrovert, conceited character like me, but I learned a great deal”. He married Janet Forbes, the principal flute, in 1959.
During the 1959-60 season he began working with John Carewe and the New Music Ensemble and took part in Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire in the second of the new series of BBC Thursday Invitation Concerts. He was also invited to give some solo recitals for the BBC Home Service; at the first concert he played Seiber’s Andantino Pastorale and the Sonatine by Honegger.
In September 1960 he joined the BBC Symphony Orchestra (BBCSO) as principal clarinet. When the orchestra appointed co-principals in 1963, Bradbury shared the position with Jack Brymer for seven happy years. During that period, with more flexible working hours, he was able to play with other orchestras such as the LSO and the Philharmonia and take part in recordings. He also performed as a soloist, playing the Mozart Concerto, the Nielsen Concerto, the Weber Concertino and the Debussy Première Rhapsodie at the Proms.
During the 70s the structure of the BBCSO was changed and Brymer moved on to the LSO. It was during this period that Bradbury was elected chair of the orchestral committee, representing his fellow players’ interests.
In 1979, Bradbury’s old teacher, Smith, sent him his collection of amusing 19th-century pieces, the sort that the younger Bradbury had been rather snobbish about. Together with the pianist and scholar Oliver Davies, he produced The Victorian Clarinettist – the repertoire of the 19th-century virtuoso Henry Lazarus. This was followed by three more LP records: The Drawing-Room Clarinettist, The Italian Clarinettist and The Edwardian Clarinettist; selections from these LPs were reissued in CD format as The Virtuoso Clarinettist (1990), and The Art of the Clarinettist (1994).
In 1993, Bradbury retired from the BBCSO, and made the CDs The Bel Canto Clarinettist (1996), a sequence of 19th-century opera paraphrases, and The Victorian Clarinet Tradition (1998), linking Bradbury to Lazarus through Lazarus’s pupil Charles Draper, and Draper’s pupil Thurston. An interest in computer music software took Bradbury on to publishing good editions of these 19th-century works under his own imprint, Lazarus Edition.
From 1963 to 2000 he was professor of clarinet at the Royal College of Music, eventually becoming head of woodwind. His greatest joy was the RCM Wind Ensemble. Having no love of wind bands (which add saxophones and brass to woodwinds), he created a Harmonie ensemble – woodwinds and horns, as for the wind music of Mozart – which toured extensively, with visits to Japan and Vienna.
In 1999 he revived an earlier partnership with the pianist Bernard Roberts to record both Brahms sonatas together with the Hindemith Sonata. A review in BBC Music magazine commented: “Bradbury plays in a beautifully natural way without resorting to the forced rubato adopted by some artists in a contrived attempt to be different, and he allows the music to speak for itself.”
Bradbury is survived by Janet and their five children, Keith, Louise, Paul, John and Adrian, and 15 grandchildren.
🔔 Colin Bradbury, clarinettist, born 4 March 1933; died 28 May 2023

Arc-V Month Day 13: Abyss Beneath a Smile
A bit behind, but I have a reason for this. And that's I promised to talk about this bastard:
Tumblr media
Aaand I spent all of yesterday unable to come up what I wanted to say. It just be like that sometimes. In fairness, part of the reason for that is that Roget is far from the deepest villain. He’s a simple, but really fun antagonist you love to hate. And sometimes, that’s all you need.
From the moment the Lancers arrive in the Synchro Dimension, he seems untouchable, smugly manipulating everyone from his place of control while the main cast is down in the City suffering. This combined with all the nasty shit he pulls makes you wanna see him go down, and boy does Arc-V deliver in that front. His VA nails his breakdown perfectly, that “SERGEY” scream lives rent-free in my mind.
He’s also a type of villain I personally adore, which is the Smug Snake who thinks they’re hot shit, but is actually pathetic in the grand scheme of things. His “grand scheme” of controlling one city is called out by Reiji to be pathetic, and despite all his boasting, he’s always scared shitless of Yuri and of Academia, capturing Yuzu and Serena simply as a chip to trade in case he needs to save his sorry-ass.
Control is his whole thing, shown through the recurring chess motifs and his brainwashing of Security, Sergey (sorta), and attempted brainwashing of Yuya. And I love how, once the Commons start rioting, he and Yuya’s plan are, at a glance, the same. He wants to, via Sergey, defeat Jack and unite the city… difference being that he wants to crush the city’s dreams to have them united under his control, whereas Yuya wants to bring everyone together smiling. It’s such a cool little set-up, having both the villain and hero seek the same goal, but in such different ways.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Sergey, let me talk a bit about him. I’ll admit, when I first learned Sergey would duel Jack I thought it was random and lame that a Legacy Character would defeat the Big Bad (or his proxy, in this case). Especially when everything seems set-up to have Yuya get revenge for what he did to Yuzu, standard Shonen stuff. Instead, they made the decision of having Sergey BEAT Yuya (admittedly, Barret did most of the damage, through his lame “you can’t play Yugioh” traps, but that’s besides the point) and have Jack be the one to defeat him. But while I’m sure some edgy side of the fanbase would've loved to have seen Awakened Yuya beat his ass, I feel it works because through their duel Jack shows that even terrible people like Sergey can be reached, hence why he rejects Roget’s control and stops grabbing Action Cards (a good use of Action Cards post-Standard, who would’ve thunk?). It also hammers the point that Yuya, despite being the protagonist, isn’t your standard Shonen hero whose role is to defeat the bad guy, but to inspire others and be the one who brings everyone’s strength together.
Anyways, TL:DR evil French bastard fun too root against, but also certified pathetic manfailure.

Books of the Year 2023
Strange, but as usual, I didn’t think I’d read so many books this year. Then I count them up and get to thirty-eight. Not bad. Jon Fosse novels were a stand-out at the beginning of the year.. At the end of 2022 I’d read the first two volumes of Septology and was then was gifted the one volume version. Trilogy and Aliss at the Fire followed. Interesting how trends in my reading continued from the previous year: a couple of Denis Johnson books, one a reread, the other one I’d missed when it came out. Reread Mary Gaitskill. Spent less time with the Beat Reading Group but I joined in with Interzone and Kerouac’s Doctor Sax; in addition I reread Burroughs’ Last Words.  Dipped into Tanizaki again with Seven Japanese Tales that had some great stories – notably The Bridge of Dreams. Pushkin Press put out a short story collection - The Siren’s Song – that showcases three of Tanizaki’s early works. A little poetry in troubled times was welcome in Philip Gross’s Deep Field. On the noir front, The Cage by Kenzo Kitakata gave me a lot of insight into ordinary Japanese supermarket business and a parallel insight into the Yakuza world. I followed up with Ashes, his Yakuza story of a ‘dog’ rising through the ranks of a crime family. Andrew Nette’s Orphan Road was trip into the past with reverberations in the present: an unsolved heist story with a gothic twist. Gary Chance, the main character from his previous novel Gunshine Coast goes on a dangerous peregrination through the Melbourne underworld and beyond.
O Caledonia by Elspeth Barker was a delight recommended by Val in Seattle. I was deeply impressed by the ambition and prose style of When We Cease to Understand the World by Benjamin Labatut. I was a bit disappointed by his follow-up The Maniac. The final section on AI was excellent, so no complaints. Whenever a Pascal Quignard volume comes out, I’m excited: The Fount of Time was no exception. I was completely absorbed by Jeremy Cooper’s Brian that delved into the mind of a lonely bookkeeper who becomes a film-buff. Cooper has an unsentimental compassion for Brian’s social awkwardness, his ordinariness and a deep respect for his knowledge of Cinema. A masterpiece even? Maybe so.

Hey there! Sorry it's been so long (if I put something down and don't look at it, it doesn't exist to my brain sdhkgshkghs. Also I am lazy).
Please keep in mind that I've not included any of the submitted characters who are children/teenagers except in the cases where they have canonically committed tax evasion/fraud or from their circumstances they are in a position to commit it.
this does not include chat noir cause i just really wanted him in the poll okay. i think it's funny. one exception for me as a treat.
I've also not included any of the real people submitted.
(Perhaps the characters who didn't get included can have their own poll after this. Yes, that includes Reigen. I stand by it - he doesn't commit tax evasion. He's too boring and normal for that.)
I will try to get the match-ups out by the end of the weekend.

Approaching getting jacked like an RPG has been so much more fulfilling. Training my stats on different enemies, investing in new builds, working a farming routine, giving Barret and Aerith back to back rimjobs, it's been really heartwarming living out my favorite parts of RPGs to see and feel my actual body get stronger and better.

And He Answered
Chapter 5
For @phicphight
Words for this chapter: 1447
Prompt: Mermaid AU, where instead of being ectobiologists, Jack and Maddie Fenton study wildlife from under the sea— specifically mermaids. Amity Park is next to multiples large lakes and rivers, the Ghost Zone is underwater, all the ghosts are mers, and Danny is struggling to find a way to explain his sudden aversion to any things water. (By @erebecula )
No warnings that I can think of for this chapter!

  Danny walked up to the staple restaurant of Amity Park, Nasty Burger. Formally called Tasty Burger (before some classic vandalism), Nasty Burger is the best place for a quick meal. It was also the chosen spot for Danny and his friends to hang out.
    The youngest Fenton emerged from his sister's car to greet his friends. A pale goth, accompanied by a darker skinned geek in a barret, walked over to Danny.
   "Hey dude! Glad you could make it!" The geek, Tucker, greeted.
    "Me too! Did you guys claim our spot?" Danny asked. He turned over to the goth. Sam nodded her head with a smile.
   "We should probably order before they kick us out for loitering," the girl mentioned, and they entered the restaurant.
    Danny went to order his usual when he noticed a fish fry sandwich on the menu.  Fish sounded good. Really, really good. Despite his former distaste for seafood, Danny ordered the fish. Sam and Tucker looked at him with matching eyebrows. They've known him long enough to know that a month ago, Danny would never even consider eating anything with fins.
   Any suspicion the two had was worn away when the trio sat at the booth and talked till long after their food was consumed. Conversation flowed from their lips as the trio enjoyed the company of their friendship.
    The three of them have been practically joined at the hip since sixth grade and never had any secrets, which is why Danny currently felt like shit. The guilt that came with his new secret was sickening. Jazz told him it was a good idea to tell them about his situation, but he was kinda scared to. Who would want a part-fish freak for a best friend?
    His thoughts were interrupted when a wild gesture from Tucker knocked some water onto his arm. Danny immediately grabbed a bunch of napkins. In his panicked state, he ran to the restroom to dry off. He couldn't let them see. Black scales had sprouted from his skin, and the tan on his arm turned a sickly, pale-green.
    Hectically, he dabbed the napkins against his arm. Dry up. Dry up. The bathroom door swung open, followed by the form of Tucker. Danny quickly hid his arm behind his back.
    "Hey, you good, dude? We were kinda worried when you left us hanging there," his friend asked. Concern was evident on Tucker's face.
   "Oh yeah! I was just drying off my arm!"
   "Okay. Whatever you say man. You just kinda freaked out, and we wanted to make sure you were good."
    "Thanks. Yeah. I'm fine. Unexpected water gets me a little antsy because of the whole…drowning thing."
    At this Tucker came closer to Danny, causing him to tuck his arm further behind his back. The geek pulled Danny into a hug.
    "I know what happened to you was scary, even if you don't remember it. And if you ever want to talk, Sam and I will always be here for you. And if you don't ever want to mention it, we won't! We care about you, Danny. Don't you forget it."
    Danny smiled and returned the hug.
    "Thank you. I'm glad to have you guys as friends."
    Tucker looked over from behind Danny's shoulder and noticed a dark spot on his friend's arm. It must've been a trick of the light, because after the pair separated, it was gone. Weird. The two buddies walked out to meet Sam and said their goodbyes. Danny waved to his friends and turned towards the direction of his house.
     The cool night breeze felt good on his neck. Danny followed the light from the Fentonworks sign in the distance. The walk was calm as he rounded the corner towards his street.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     It hit suddenly. A tremor filled his bones. Danny clenched his chest. He could feel a wave of urgency rush over him. Something happened. Something big. The ground around him started shaking. The pavement cracked open in the rumble. The throbbing in Danny's chest intensified. He had to go.
   He ran to the lake as fast as his legs could carry him. He texted Jazz before throwing his phone onto the sand. Danny scrambled into the water at full speed. Once his tail fully formed, he took off towards the arch.
   The water's current was violent and tossed Danny like a ragdoll. Cujo had taken shelter under his ledge. There shouldn't be riptides like this in a lake. Finally, the mer made it to the gate. Danny grabbed the side like a lifeline and waited for the whirlpool to appear.
     Danny took the portal to the dome. A large crowd of mer had gathered. It appeared they were waiting for something. Danny approached the crowd and swam up next to a blue mer with long, teal hair. He heard her speak to a guy on the other side of her.
     "I hope they give us some answers soon. I was in the middle of serenading these cute rich boys on a yacht before I felt the summons," she huffed. Her companion turned towards her, giving Danny a better look at him. He was kinda scary, not gonna lie. The dude was jacked. His lime green hair was formed into a mohawk. Scars littered his grey arms which complimented his intense glare.
    "You better not be attracting some 'cute rich boys' or they might meet my new spear," the man's gruff voice stated. Ah, so they were dating. The buff dude's eyes turned over to Danny.
    "What are you looking at, whelp?"
    "Nothing!" Danny defended, "I was just wondering if anyone knew what's going on."
   "You and me both, Babypop," the blue girl chimed in. Her black tail flicked in annoyance. Danny liked the colors of her tail fins. They shimmered with bits of magenta, purple, and a light blue and contrasted her scales nicely. Anyways, he was getting distracted. He turned over to watch several figures swim in front of the crowd. Dorothea stoof off to the side of the stage. This must be big.
     A giant woman silenced the crowd by lifting one of her four hands. Her confident demeanor clued Danny in that she was someone important.
    "Citizens of the Seven Seas and beyond," her voice boomed, "we are gathered here today to address a serious issue: the Bermuda Gate has been opened."
    Panic and outrage spread through the crowd before the lady silenced them again.
  "Believe us, we know, and we are trying to resolve this situation as we speak. In the meantime, nowhere is safe. The only thing protecting us now is the magic surrounding this dome. The Ancients have done our best to accommodate as many people as we can. All whirlpool travel is to be suspended after high noon tomorrow. Gather your important belongings, gather your loved ones, and come back to the dome before then. This is a scary time. Many know of the Bermuda Prophecy that was given to us millennia ago. The prophecy mentioned the opening of the Bermuda Gate, but it also mentioned something else: one of you is destined to save us."
    The crowd murmured and speculated over who it could be. A brave young gentleman rose up from the crowd.
   "I'll do it!" He proclaimed in confidence that could rival Jack Fenton. The important lady raised an eyebrow before replying.
    "Thank you, Aragon, but that is not how it works. The chosen one will be the one who can remove this sword from this volcanic rock cluster."
    Important Lady gestured over to where a giant ass rock sat with a shiny handle sticking out of it. A hoard of mer swarmed the rock and waited for their turn to lift the sword. None had succeeded.
    The crowds parted and went towards their respective portals. In the end, it was just Danny staring at the rock. He didn't realize how long he had been staring at it until he looked up at the empty room. He felt drawn to it. The hilt's reflection glistened in the water. Much stronger mer had failed to release it, but what was the harm in trying?
    The young boy approached the rock and tentatively reached a hand out. He gripped firmly on the hilt and pulled. Blue light erupted from the stone as he pulled the blade out of its prison. A wave of energy pulsed from the sword as he released it. He inspected his new weapon. It was perfectly made for Danny. He was the one in the prophecy. He was supposed to save these people. Welp, the world's screwed.
    " When land and sea's need is great,
        One will answer the call."
Paranormal Star Review
Title: Prodigium Academy #4 Fangs
Author: Katie May
Pages:336
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐(4/5)
Synopsis: So, here's the deal. I got locked up for a crime I totally committed. Yup. Your girl stabbed a ho...or four. Stabbed, maimed, ate, slaughtered. You get the picture. Not what you expected to hear from me, huh? But everything changes when I'm broken out of Prodigium Academy by the exact man I've been trying to hide from: Lucifer. Aka, my sperm donor. Aka, the man who tried to kill me as a baby. Fun times, right? With a few simple words, everything changes. I no longer know who I can trust or who will simply stab me in the back the second I turn away. The only people I know I can rely on are my mates. Vin Van Helsing, a fierce vampire hunter. Frankie, one of Frankenstein's experiments. Mason, Medusa's cocky and arrogant son. Jack and Hux, two souls trapped in the same body. Cal, the sexy and self-centered cupid. And even Barret, the sweet, loveable boogeyman. And maybe, just maybe, Dimitri Gray, the headmaster of Prodigium Academy and a feared assassin who definitely knows how to use that sword of his. Wink. Wink. Nudge. Nudge. Add in to the mix a snarly necromancer, a sadistic Irish asshole hijacking my mate's body, and a bloody custody battle, I'm in way over my head. One thing remains clear. A war is on the horizon, and I can either run and hide...or I can stick my fangs in the necks of my enemies. What's a girl-slash-demon-slash-goddess-slash-not-a-vampire to do? Fangs is book four of a five book horror comedy series where the FMC won't have to choose between love interests at the end. This book contains strong language, sexual situations, and graphic violence. Our main female, Violet, is crude, crass, and always willing to speak her mind...even if you don't want her to. And our monsters? They're dangerous, psychotic, loveable, sweet, and everything in between. Why write one man when you can write five...or seven...or ten...or more?
