for all my grievances with tangled the series, one thing i cannot criticize them for is their songs, i mean, sure, not all of them make sense in context (let me make you proud comes to mind), the songs are spectacular, from the vocals to the instrumental, all of them are a joy to listen to, whether they are just incredibly goofy, like the buddy song, to heartbreaking, like waiting in the wings, whether its a solo, a duet or a group, they are wonderful to listen to

#i like the show. dont get me wrong. #though i cant deny there are a lot of flaws to the series n character n story decisions that dont make sense n infuriate me #and i will say imo season 1 is where its at its best. although yes flaws are present they dont. idk. ruin the season for me #but i cant say the same for the later two seasons. i mean. i had fun with s2 n liked the new characters but. a lot of it again imo is fille #but s3 is the worst imo cause the stakes are so high but they spend like 2-4 episodes actually on the main plot #n the rest is just. pointless filler. i mean. did we really need to learn more about fucking nigel of all characters #n i will say i am not a fan of cass' arch at all. i liked her in the first season n most of the second season but s3 just. ruins her for me #i also dont like how they treated euguene most of the time. he deserved to be treated better. he was the other main character in the movie #he deserved to be treated better not put in the back so as not to outshine cass n rapunzel's relationship #cassunzel this it not a critique of you. i liked the ship in the beginning to n i love the poly of cass rapunzel n euguene #n you can ship them to your hearts content. im just annoyed at the disrespect of euguene lol #can you tell that im passionate about the show. i mean. the potential was there but. they didn't do nothing with it. #im upset it couldnt be better lol #anyway what was i talking about #right the songs. the songs are spectacular (despite almost all of them not making sense in the context of the shows) #n are a joy to listen to. i love them all so much that i dont think there's any i dislike really. the songs are so so good #n are really fun to listen to. its one of the things that i can never fault the show for. they're wonderful n everyone should listen to the #even if you havent watched the show lol they're great #tangled the series #tts #strawberry speaks

I'd never thought I'd go through the process of watching two characters give each other loving looks, watching their relationship be the main focus of the show and how they complement each other in an absolutely non platonic way, watching them hold hands and then end up getting a "as best friends and siblings" in end right before they show us that one of them left her homeland to be with the other, with a het ship but here we are.

While they had their own half of the caravan- one of the few rare perks of both being women was that nobody had questioned the sleeping arrangements- it was still quite packed in, and they generally didn't dare to get too close lest one of the boys come bursting through the shared door with yet another of their petty grievances. But all of the boys had gone to sleep by now- bar the animals, of course, but Cassandra had a feeling they wouldn't tell.

She just watched Rapunzel, the fire flickering and reflecting off of her, making her hair an even warmer golden hue. For a moment, Cassandra was transported back- back to the first day they met. Back to sitting by the fire on the outskirts of Corona, learning about each other, being so drawn together, but pulling back, as if afraid of being burned.

But she wasn't afraid anymore. Instead, Cassandra just reached over, gently cupping Rapunzel's hands within her own. "I missed this."

Rapunzel smiled. She could always count on Cassandra to make her feel better, even about the smallest things. They didn't have anywhere else to be, they didn't have to worry about someone coming in. Right now, it was so easy to push everything else away -- the black rocks, the lost section of scroll, the destination at the end of her destiny. it was always so overwhelming, exhilarating, and freeing to be sure but, still quite scary. The blonde knew their journey was only going to get more complicated as they progressed, but in the cool quiet of the night, Cassandra was compelling her not to worry about any of it.

She let her fingers slip in between Cassandra's hands, feeling the familiar warmth of her best friend's presence. The comfort of knowing Cassandra had her back was something even more precious than she could put into words.

"I have, too. It seems like with everything going on we haven't had any time just for us to hang out, you know? And I think that's important -- we're in this together."

She squeezed her hand and smiled warmly at Cassandra. "I've missed you, is what I mean."

How “A Tale of Two Sisters” (Tangled the Series) and “Promise” (She-Ra) are literally the same episode

¡¡¡SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I literally made this post on Twitter but it got no traction and I was looking to get a discussion going but I will just repeat what I said there and paste it here because I can’t get over this

Angry Lesbians = Cassandra & Catra

Team Blondie = Adora & Rapunzel

Parallel #1: Close Proximity

It’s funny how the premise of both episodes is that the sworn rivals (lovers) are put in a position in which they are stuck and cannot find an exit. In TTS, Cassunzel is stuck in a cave with poisonous gas and Catradora is trapped in that weird chamber thingy with the First Ones tech.

Parallel #2: Dangerous Setting

Additionally not only are they trapped together, but they are trapped specifically in a dangerous environment that is hostile impartially to both parties which leads onto my next point...

Parallel #3: Enemy x Enemy Teamwork

Literally the designated Angry Lesbians (Catra & Cass) hate their counterparts' guts. They literally wanna kill them,

In fact, the reason why in both of these cases they ended up in that very same dangerous setting was because the designated angry lesbians decided to attack Team Blondie (Adora & Rapunzel) and got them stuck there IN THE FIRST PLACE !!!! ARGGHH !!

And now since they're stuck in a hostile environment that is way too distracting to kill Team Blondie -& that also threatens their lives as well- they're forced to put a pin on that whole "i need to kill my wife" plan so that they themselves don't die, which forces them to ✨work together✨

Parallel #4: Facing the Past Pt. 1

This teamwork leads both parties to reminisce about their ex friendship. It’s actually funny to notice that these two share the same trope (aka friends to enemies to lovers [ok I know Cassunzel isn’t canon but the lesbians ship them idc]) AND since these two both have a past of being friends earlier in life they both get back into that groove that they easily slip back into while they’re trying to survive.

ie. Rapunzel and Cass reminiscing the memories they made during the trip to the dark kingdom & Catra and Adora just goofing around during that chamber after a while

Parallel #5 villain/hero enemies to lovers dynamic

This kinda goes hand in hand with Parallel #4

The designated Angry Lesbians (who are also the show’s labeled villains) are in constant turmoil about the way they feel about Team Blondie and its fucking hilarious because they’re so down bad for Team Blondie & you get these moments where they’re softening slowly throughout the episode // meanwhile Team Blondie (the show’s designated heroes) are just trying the whole time to get through their girlfriends and realize that they’re on the wrong side

AND THIS RESULTS IN A LOT OF GAY RIVAL TENSION MOMENTS !!!!

Parallel #6: Facing the past Pt. 2 + Resentment

This one is super important because it really brings perspective to the rivalry and the motives behind why Cassandra and Catra are doing what they are doing and brings a depth and complexity to both Cassunzel and Catradora.

Facing the past also includes looking back into childhood memories and learning about a specific mother figure and the way this mother figure shaped the entire view in which they see themselves- whether it’s conscious or unconscious.

For Catra and Adora, it meant exploring Catra’s relationship with Shadow Weaver and how that influenced her own self worth during childhood and how she was always outshined by Adora, who was able to gain Shadow Weaver’s affections with ease thanks to her specialness as she’s a First One’s decendant.

For Cassandra and Rapunzel, it meant realizing that Gothel was a selfish person who never really loved either of them, and that Gothel only chose Rapunzel (and consequently, abandon Cassandra) for her magic hair. That is until Cassandra finds the broken mirror that shows Gothels apparent “love” for Cass.

Parallel #7: the mother figures that traumatized our angry lesbians

This also kinda goes hand in hand with parallel #5 because these two women are the very root of why our angry lesbians are traumatized and on the ‘evil side’ of the story.

These women created all the insecurities that our angry lesbians cling onto & project onto Team Blondie by making them feel as if they were not enough or loved & made them feel inferior to their counterparts

In Catra’s case, it was shadow weaver

For Cassandra, it was Gothel

It was both of these women who actively made the decision to choose Adora/Rapunzel due to being “special” & treated Cass/Catra like shit

Parallel #8: The end + presumed death

this one makes me SCREAM

At the end of both episodes SOMETHING -and by something I mean a childhood memory is triggered- that makes the angry lesbians lash out and any hope that they return to the good side just vanishes.

Also they both leave Team Blondie out to die and walk away thinking they killed them.

But ofc team blondie never dies.

I kept obsessing over this and thank god for tumblr for having unlimited character count because I could’ve not made my point thoroughly on twitter

Okay Lunter shippers, for those who don’t know last night Zeno (hunter’s VA) changed his display name to 'hunter noceda'. It only lasted for a couple of hours but that was enough to gain attention on twitter.

What does mean?
 Well, that’s the problem. We aren’t sure. As most of you are familiar with, the majority of the fandom sees Luz and Hunter as 'siblings', to them this basically confirms, that Camila basically adopts Hunter, Then there are others that are just dubious of it and shrug it off as a troll, as Zeno has been known to do.

And I’ve been in my thoughts for that past day and spoke with a couple of friends. So the most important first thing to say is that Zeno is just a voice actor. The ONLY people that have the power to make anything CANON are the WRITERS or the CREATOR themselves. No one else, while yes there are people who work on creating the episodes they CAN NOT magically make things canon. Not storyboard artists, not animators, and definitely not VAs.

This could be hinting at the direction of where the show is going but again, nothing is confirmed.

Also, it’s okay to mourn it. I kinda did that too. Grieved during those hours Zeno had that up, I was still putting my thoughts together. Also for the love of everything don’t attack anyone who continues to ship it, it’s not worth your time putting a negative post about 'now its confirm so weird to ship it'. Come on, there is no SOLID confirmation they see each other as EXPLICIT siblings.

What if does become canon? Well, it’s hard to say. I’ve been in the TTS fandom where people actively ignored the creator’s intent of Cass/Rapunzel being 'sisters' and continue to ship despite it. And that’s with Cass and Rapunzel having the same parental figure at one point but at different times. And you don’t see them get shit for. The only difference is that Cassunzel is wlw ship while Lunter is a m/f ship. Watch as the same people who ship Cassunzel are the same people that are going to shit on the Lunter shippers if it does siblings canon. Double standards is a bitch.

I’m no stranger to completely ignoring canon endings. I’ve watched BOTH Voltron and TOA completely collapsed in their endings. ROTT who? Voltron s8 who?

Plus, why now if that’s what their intentions were? You should have established it sooner like with King. Then people wouldn’t have jumped on the shipping train. Now you have people that are too emotionally attached to the ship (such as myself) and do what?

TL; DR Luz and Hunter’s relationship is still open to interpretation. Personally, I would like to be that way. It’s ultimately up to you whether you feel comfortable continuing to ship it.

As for me, I fear that it is a hint of where the show wants to take their relationship. My view of their relationship was something very reminiscent of the dynamic I had with my high school crush rather than 'siblings'. I would find it strange that they would try to confirm sibling dynamic on them this late in the show and given the earlier concepts of the show. Half of me wants to step back but the other half wants to continue. I still have so many ideas left for them. And Goldenlight week is coming up too. So for now I’ll keep posting, unless Dana says something. Maybe I’ll sprinkle some more platonic stuff I’ve been putting on the back burner.

Do not apologize for not drawing as much! Your drawings are great and I (along with your other followers) love seeing them when we get to! Even though I have no idea about Mamamoo or Cassunzel at all, I still enjoy your posts and how excited you get about them. A lot of your Cassunzel art looks soooo cool, too. I love your AU's, they're always so creative.

I get that. Super get it, especially since I go through it too. If FFXIC is the only thing you can focus on, then do what you love (even if it's what you want for the moment)!!! And sometimes you need to recharge, and that's okay too!

I'm here for you and want to provide support in a helpful way, so I'll try not to act bossy and like a therapist. :) I've found that, sometimes, I need a heavy break when I'm spread too thin. Sometimes sleeping is what I need. Sometimes it's to eat really crappy food or easy food (i.e. cereal) because it at least gets food into my system.

You've got this. As much as it feels permanent, it's not a permanent sadness. It is a temporary problem as much as it feels overwhelming. And giving up is a very permanent solution... So don't give up. We've got you.

Utenanthy - I honestly need to watch Utena again or at the very least watch the movie already 'cause on my first watch I was too busy trying to figure out what the hell was going on at any given time to think too much about ships and I'll definitely appreciate everything much more now that I have a clearer view on Utena and its themes. However Utenanthy is undeniably the blueprint for pretty much all sapphic ships today and though I wish they could've been much more overt with it (like I know they are in the movie) it's still amazing how much they managed to accomplish in 1997

Cassunzel - Invented knight/princess dynamics and also sun/moon sapphics I was amazed at how blatant that coding was. They snuck out of the castle after Rapunzel turned down her boyfriend's proposal and Cassandra was like "No one can know about this or they'll send me to a convent" in the pilot. There is a whole episode that's just a play-by-play of the Tangled movie but with Cassandra in Eugene's place. Cassandra dies and Rapunzel brings her back with the power of love??? Also Cassandra is so so soft for Rapunzel it's insane. The way several times in the series she was supposed to be mad at her but then Rapunzel did something so endearing that Cass couldn't help but smile at her in the most adoring way. "Look into my eyes now/I know you feel it too"/"Perhaps I do". "Lose each weakness that remains" coupled with Cassandra destroying a drawing of Rapunzel. The way the story was literally about them and their relationship. They were so powerful they had to get Cassandra out of the way so Rapunzel could marry Eugene and even then no one was really convinced

Kyohomu - Love that the entire basis of their dynamic is "You're also a traumatized ex-Christian mean lesbian in love with someone who's too self-sacrificing for their own good?" Like I think they just get each other and it's good Homura can be close to someone other than Madoka 'cause Kyoko will not ask any questions and will not pry but she will stand by her and that’s exactly what Homura needs. Definitely a brotp however it's not something I ship romantically at all. I read one (1) fic and it was too fucking weird for me

def cassunzel, maybe thats just the diehard new dream stan in me but i just,, am not a fan of cassunzel. i think that they have a complicated friendship and i like a lot of it but ive just never really been a big fan of them romantically :/ plus i personally think that an important part of enemies to lovers is that both sides are equally hating and trying to kill each other, but with cass and rapunzel its just cass attempting to murder rapunzel while rapunzel is like "pleeeeease come back :)" so it just feels like sorta a power imbalance to me

Cassunzel Week Day 8 - Alternate Universe

Cassandra doesn’t typically like to linger for too long on her own past. She’s not overly sentimental for the good, and becoming bitter about the bad is— well, she’s working on it. She tells herself that the mistakes she’s made are just lessons learnt, and can be mended in the future with all the due effort. Regrets will turn into unnecessary burden, and she’s better off leaving them behind. And the dancing whispers of long forgotten memories are will-o-wisps to be avoided rather than chased.

Still, she can say with complete confidence that she regrets sneaking the Phantom Princess out of the castle into the night to see the unique amber growth that had congealed along the cliffside. When the Rapunzel had touched it, it had surged forth like a frenzied beast, consuming the earth in its haste to devour her. And, as they ran from the encroaching mass, Rapunzel’s hair— once choppy and short and decidedly brunette— flowed behind her like a moonlit river.

Cassandra had managed to sneak them back into Rapunzel’s bedroom so that they could panic in complete privacy, and only then did the full weight of their situation sink in. Rapunzel, the princess who returned from the dead— Rapunzel, who had been shunned by a frightened royal court for the dangerous properties bestowed upon her by the Moonflower— Rapunzel, who had been recently emancipated of her deadly cosmic power— has her long, silver hair back.

She looks like something out of a fairytale. No, not a fairytale— a folktale. Her silver hair shimmers like nacre, reflecting pinks and blues and greens in tricks of the light. Cassandra has never seen the auroras of Arendelle, but she’s reminded of it nonetheless.

Rapunzel stands completely straight as she absorbs the shock of the night’s events, and Cassandra’s heart breaks. As she spent more time with the princess, she’d seen sparks of sunshine and enthusiasm between bouts of friendly but detached conversation. She hadn’t intended to become so overly familiar— a princess and her Lady in Waiting becoming friends is a one-in-a-million chance, after all— but Cassandra could see the bright young woman that hid behind a wall of hesitancy; she could see a girl who needed a friend in the castle who wasn’t afraid of her. Which had now become seventy feet more difficult.

“Okay, just let me get some scissors and-“ Cassandra says, already halfway to the cabinet, but Rapunzel remains dead centre in the eye of her bedroom, staring out at the rising sun.

“It won’t work,” she says evenly.

“Why not?” Cassandra startles.

“It’s indestructible,” Rapunzel replies with a restrained shake of her head.

“We don’t know that- how did you cut it in the first place?” Cassandra asks, producing a small pair of scissors from a sewing kit.

“It was- it was after I’d died. Pascal cut it before Eugene brought me back to life,” Rapunzel explains, unwavering.

“We can still try,” Cassandra insists, and approaches her with the scissors. Rapunzel stamps out the flicker of hope fluttering in her stomach.

“Please, let me- I don’t want you to touch it,” she says, gingerly taking the scissors from Cassandra’s hands. Silver blades meet silver strands, but neither bends. The scissors click together uselessly, sliding over Rapunzel’s hair as they shut without clipping a single lock.

“Maybe they’re just blunt,” Cassandra hazards, and reaches for one of the daggers tucked away in her belt.

“They’re not,” Rapunzel sighs, and the scissors clack as they meet the floor. There’s a stubborn part in the back of Cassandra’s head that refuses to accept defeat, but it’d be cruel to continue denying the truth. There’s no use.

She’s going to be sent to a convent for this, no question. She feels guilty for the thought, for worrying about herself while Rapunzel has her hair back, but she won’t be able to do anything to help from behind the stone fortress of the Holy Sun. Mistakes can be mended, but this is going to take a whole lot of hard work.

“Rapunzel, you can’t tell Eugene-“ she starts, but Rapunzel gently grabs her wrist.

“I know,” she assures her. It’s a weight off Cassandra’s chest, but it doesn’t relieve the choking tightness. Rapunzel doesn’t say anything else.

“Come on, let’s figure out a way to hide all this,” Cassandra says, feeling sick. Somehow, she doesn’t think they’re going to survive tonight’s coronation.

You know Cass being a lesbian is canon, right? And so is Cassunzel.

I hate to break it to you, Anon, but neither of those things are canon. The closest Cassandra ever came to being a lesbian in canon was one of the show's artists headcanoning Cass as gay. And even if Cassunzel was canon, I still wouldn't ship it for a number of reasons.

(Disclaimer: I want to make it clear that I don't have anything against the shippers themselves. I've met a couple that are actually really nice people and totally chill. This is just why I myself don't ship it)

First off, a large part of Cassunzel is based on a lie. For a long time, a lot of the TTS crew had no idea about the sisters twist, because Chris Sonnenburg just refused to tell them and led them on. He liked the attention Cassandra was getting from Cassunzel shippers, and led everyone on to further his own agenda

Second, Cassunzel ARE HALF SISTERS. I say half-sisters because although Cass doesn't see Rapunzel as a sister, Rapunzel does. She's said so twice. And on top of that, they were raised by a woman whom they both view as their mother. Abusive or not, she's still their mother.

And thirdly, Cassunzel is toxic as hell in its canon form. Rapunzel constantly gaslights and ignores Cassandra multiple times in both the show and the books. She corners Cass into talking about her feelings before she's ready to, invades her boundaries, ignores her emotions even when they're very clear, humiliates her publically, and mutilates her and doesn't lose an ounce of sleep over it. Cassandra has sacrificed her happiness, dream job, future, and even her own body for Rapunzel and hasn't gotten squat in return. That isn't love.

And then there's Eugene to consider, Rapunzel's love interest and CANON BOYFRIEND/HUSBAND. No matter what Eugene is pretty much the only one that ever matters to Rapunzel. She tells him Cassandra's secrets both behind her back and within earshot, drops everything to save Eugene even when there's a safer way. She ALWAYS chooses Eugene. Rapunzel makes it painfully clear that between Eugene and Cassandra, she will always choose Eugene. She has proven to Cass time and time again that in the face of her relationship with Eugene, Cassandra doesn't matter.
