I don't remember this at all so I don't even know if its part of The Lotus Tree or not, lmao, sorry Kasumi you are so boring up until, uuuuuuuuuuh about 40 minutes from now actually
So Reverie wakes up, happy new year, time to head downstairs to
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
no no no no no non on onojnkofidflasjk NO
NOOOOO
no!
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
no
inhales
okay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I, in real life, staring at my Odin, literally out loud said, "Oh fuck ALL the way off."
Tumblr media
Anyway, we meet up at the shrine by luck, hahhaaha what a crazy random happenstance.
Also: HARU! MY GOD! WHAT A KNOCKOUT! I feel like her kimono might cost more than my fucking car.
But there is already a very weird tension in the air when the group gets together. They all meet up at a shrine that has no visitors because it seems like no one in the world is wishing for anything because their lives are so perfect, so the crew is like "well! this was nice. uh see ya!" and the vibes are so bad. Immediately everything feels like a world encased in glass, like a pinned insect that just got a shot of euthanasia and is starting to lock into place.
It is fucking EERIE as shit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh my god I'm gonna sharpen an axe and cut down your Lotus Tree, Maruki, I swear to god
Tumblr media
"Would you join the Phantom Thieves" as an indicator that all is perfect and no one needs to do anything is sure Something.
Somehow, just watch me, I will find a way to blame this all on Mishima again. I'm already trying to calculate the trajectory.
Tumblr media
SPITTAKE
I FUCKIGN HOLLARED OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
I don't want to sound like the average Atlus developer right now, Morgana, but I think you may have gained some weight.
Also, sidebar: COWARDS for changing Morgana's voice actor for this. COWARDS!!!!! Cassandra Lee Morris has been doing fucking WORK with this character, I literally would rather her continue voicing him with a pitch modulation effect than swapping the VA, /HISSES ANGRILY
Anyway. Reverie and I are both in complete unity at the moment because all of this is Fucked.
Tumblr media
Again, me, IRL, shouting "NO" at my Odin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh i feel ill from this, this is horrendous. Maruki, you got a fucking storm coming, and i have a fusioned Izanagi-no-Okami with your name on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOK AT REVERIE HERE. So like I've ranted about how the P4MC was such a non-character while Reverie is so so much more. I can feel how freaked out he is even while he's still a mostly silent protagonist. The fear he feels as he tries to make sense of this situation and starts to wonder how far it spreads is fucking radiating from his posture and how he's watching everyone from over his popped collar and event he way he hasn't turned the chair around to face them, he is cheated away from everyone.
God, it's amazing. I have a lot of issues with P5R but the protagonist is a triumph.
Tumblr media
Oh, immediately before he said a single fucking thing. He knows. He knows. He walks in and takes one look around and he knows.
Which in of itself is fascinating and I wanna sink my teeth into what that means.
Everyone in this world is getting their desires. No! No that's incorrect. What they are getting is their pain taken away. I remember Maruki's absolutely batshit closing speech as he left the school in November.
Everyone is getting a life where the biggest traumatic moments did not happen. Futaba never lost her mother and thus Sojiro never lost his best friend. Morgana gets to be human because he admires humans so much. Ryuji was never kicked off the track team. Haru never had the falling out that lead to her father's death.
But Reverie? I don't know what he gets. Before the switch flipped on the Lotus Tree, Sae revealed that the woman who was involved in Reverie's false assault accusation might testify, so his record might even be overturned.
So we have Reverie, and we have Akechi. The two Wild Cards who were puppets of a bored god (who, uh, since Philemon isn't actually involved in this I don't really know anymore what Yaldabaoth's whole deal was but whatever, lean with it rock with it).
I don't know if you can undo the trauma of being Goro Akechi.
... I'm thinking about Reverie, and about the constant drumbeat of his connection to Akechi. Wanting to keep a promise.
I just had a really horrible thought but also it's so gay that I dunno if Atlus would Go There. We'll see.
Tumblr media
I know I have never been happier to see you. Been a while, Beige Boy. Love the outfit, actually, you look great in actual colors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
/points directly at this
Did Akechi survive or did Maruki being him back because Reverie had unfinished business with him.
That is my question.
Don't answer it, anyone, but what I am thinking is either Akechi will reveal how he survived the Palace (unlikely) or it turns out he fucking didn't and this was the start of the Lotus Tree.
Anyway, Akechi reveals that he was being questioned for the Shido stuff and then they just.... let him go. No charges. He's free. Which is impossible, obviously. And now Wakaba Isshiki is walking around alive.
Tumblr media
that lil pose is so gay. i wonder if Akechi is meant to be Actually Gay. serious question. like, we got Actually Queer characters in P4 so we know the people at Atlus know gay people exist, but this game has been scrubbed clear of any queerness.
except Akechi has such intense gay vibes and, sure I'll say it, mannerisms that I wonder if he is subtextually meant to be gay. especially since to my recollection, every male character in this game has been mentioned to be attracted to women except him. like, I did notice that, thank you.
((ALSO, SIDEBAR: YOU KNOW WHAT I MISS FROM P3 AND P4? THE GIRLS HAVING CRUSHES ON EACH OTHER. I miss the casual flirtation and interest all the girls had together. That's also been stripped out of P5 and it sucks.))
anyway what the fuck was I saying. Akechi gay, he and Reverie need to investigate.
Tumblr media
And then Kasumi calls to be like "heeeeeeeeeeey so sorry to bother you buuuuuut that palace we ran into at the stadium is back????? is that okay?"
Tumblr media
Okay another thing, sorry that this post is like All About Akechi but
lmao Akechi without his mask is a delight. this man is a bitch and he does not give a fuck and nothing in this world or the next impresses him. it is for real so fun how his cadence and register have subtly changed, he doesn't soften his syllables as much anymore, and he is direct as a gunshot.
Between him and Maruki, this whole segment of the game is like Freaks Only, Normies GTFO and I am thrilled. I am a freak, it's me. This is for me.

i have this theory that wild cards have a MUCH more significant power and role than the games offer, taking into consideration the method personas were originally granted by philemon in 1 and 2. now everything is centered around the wild card, from the awakenings of OTHER people to the grand cosmic destiny depicted as THEIR personal journey. they represent null and infinity and forge connections through the entire major arcana, resulting in (what amounts to) ownership of those as well. persona users dont even know their arcana, only the wild card does, and is able to act based on it. like of course this can be handwaved as typical protag jrpg stuff and game mechanics, but im fond of digging too deep into things, so here i am lmao. i havent played p4 yet but i know vaguely the end details and major story stuff and think it applies as well... but unfortunately i will be skipping it for this post since i cant wax poetic for it. sorry yu
the wild card ends up in a position of extreme, literal god-defying power by the end of their journey. despite just being a regular human person, the circumstances around them shaped them into a being capable of changing reality itself. minato found a loophole and exploited it in a way ONLY he could, as someone soulbound to death. he achieved the highest possible arcana and used it to all but enact a new universal law to separate mankind and death. nyx cant be reached anymore. death cant be reached anymore. he himself became an absolute existence in the collective unconscious to ensure it, and all without the intervention of philemon.
on the flipside, joker is such a glaring representation of rebellion that tbh im just beating a dead horse talking about it. and its not that he himself is doing the rebelling, but invoking it in everyone and everything surrounding him. hes bestowing that anger and freedom, even if hes not even aware of it, and just like the wild cards before him. hes the igniting spark to what eventually grows into an inferno, and his fellow rebels grow and evolve according to his bond with them individually. to make a homestuck reference here: my guy embodies, manipulates, and invites change of rebellion in others. he represents a chaos more reminiscent of smt than persona, since a major part of the heart stealing is the acknowledgement that its neither a perfect solution, nor inherently the right thing to do. its a last resort when no method or order or goodness will remove the source of a problem.
i mean. his gentleman thief persona evolves into literally the first dude to ever turn against god and the heavens, and the one to introduce chaos and freedom all throughout humanity. joker, by nature, is a force which defies and breaks law. anyone whos connected to him, even without a persona and in REAL LIFE, is unaffected by the order demanding their obedience. they have no idea why everything went to shit or why everyones acting super weird all of a sudden... a manifestation of rebellion just happens to have them on speed dial. eat your heart out nyarlathotep
anyway i think joker can free minato from the seal end post

@universal-legacy asked: "Nyarlathotep, what have you been up to this time? Am I going to have to give you a lashing worse than what you got last time?" It didn't matter how, it wouldn't matter when, but Zayn had found the crawling chaos itself. And he wasn't happy either, so... He could run or he could fight. Either way it probably wasn't about to end well.
The god of humanity's darkness had just been chilling out, hanging around in the infinite void that is the world between humanity and otherworldly beings. The world outside the velvet room, the one where he and Philemon were forced to share and exist together. He's always hated it here, it never had anything to do and the only thing for them to commit to anymore was watching humanity, both its good and bad.
It's always left him so fuckin bored.
But then he could hear a familiar voice, his gaze snapping towards the one who had managed to come into the domain. He had been expecting the little gremlin, or even the weaker counterpart to her. But-
OH HELL NO-
"Oh, fuck this!" His first and foremost thought was to get the hell away from him. What the fuck did he even do this time? Nothing, that's what! He had done absolutely nothing to deserve this, why must they always come after him even when he does now wrong!?
He's getting the hell out of there in record time.

Do the characters' names have any special meaning or significance? How'd you come up with them?
some are more significant than others, but theyre not THAT significant. flynn, vermillion and viridian all had name changes when i was conceptualizing the story. im pretty sure every characters last name has changed at some point, and those are less significant.
i gave flynn his current name because i just like that name and it seemed like a protagonist-y name, with the context that the only flynn i knew at the time was flynn rider from tangled. i wont say what his name used to be bc i dont like it as much anymore :/
vermillions name... just happened at some point, i think it was an alias before it was their actual name, but eventually it was just their name. their real name used to be pepper, which i chose bc its cool and gender neutral, but then the change happened at a point i cannot remember.
viridians name happened when i realized i had 2 characters with color names that started with V, those being vermillion and violet, by pure coincidence, and i decided to lean into it for a joke.
all the other names were decided because i just liked how they sounded and they fit the vibe of the characters in my brain. its hard to say how i came up with any of them other than vermillion violet and viridian (their signature colors came first, names came after), partly because it was just so long ago!
(as an additional thing, i decided that phils full first name was philemon and not philip because i found a census from the phillippines (phil and vermillion are both filipino) that said the name philemon was slightly more common than philip over there and i liked how that name sounded so i used it!)
as with vermillion violet and viridian, all of the main cast was assigned a signature color before i named them, and those colors have not changed at all!

Desert Flowers (aka Cirque du Soleil Isekai Movie Plots nobody asked for): The Prologue
Thank you to @sweepseven for feedback and being fun to talk to
After watching Alegria 1999 and Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away and feeling disappointed, I am famished for a (at the very least) competent film adaptation of a Cirque production
So out of boredom and an attempt to feel better during Corona-chan’s invasion, I, a random user on the internet, am gonna try and write film adaptations for several Cirque shows. But use the premise of Worlds Away (and a lot of Cirque in general let’s be honest) of the everyman entering a world full of wonder and magic
(Writing this before Cirque does anything to their shows concerning the COVID-19 thing, so if any shows close, this headcannoning will just become fanatical dreaming and I hope for the best for former employees)
Resident Las Vegas Shows: ok so this is the premise. 4 kids (just two small kids with two young adults) are in Las Vegas. Either they’re because it’s a school trip or a different trip where their families are getting together and having fun or something. Each show gets their own movie, within the same canon. We could call these movies Desert Flowers (ehehehheh get cause its las vegas ehehehe). These kids aren’t really going through a grand, dynamic character arc, they’re plopped into this magical wondrous world, and they’re just going through the motion until the show ends
These are the four kids, their ages and what shows they’ll be shipped off to (A/N: Just came up with these kids names now they’re no longer A B or F anymore!):
Cory: 18 y/o girl who goes to O
Duke: 17 y/o boy who goes to Beatles Love
Genny: 6-8 y/o girl who goes to Mystere
Barbara “Babs”: 3-4 y/o girl who goes to Ka
Sorry for not including Zumanity and Michael Jackson One I’m not sure how to write a proper story for that show considering the sexual contents and themes (maybe someone else can)
And considering how controversial and split the Michael Jackson allegations are, I think it’ll be safe to keep the characters out of this show
I’ll probably draw and give these kids names later, let’s see how far this is taken
A/N: I saw O and Ka, but not Love and Mystere. So if there are any CdS fans who have seen Love and Mystere, who can recap what they remember from watching the show, that would be very nice. I only have the CdS website and their Grand Chapiteau to rely on for info
Okay let's get the story started:
Anyways, Cory and Duke are chaperoning Genny and Babs and they’re basically spending time in a carnival and casually playing games and having fun
One of them gets a macguffin from winning a carnival game
I’m leaning on Babs getting a toy map
Some of the performers from the shows are making early-bird cameos as normal citizens or employees at the carnival and interact with the kid that gets transported to their respective show y'know foreshadowing
Cory accidentally bumps into Guifa/Philemon, she drops something and he picks it up and hands it to her
Cory tries to thank him, but he already left
The guy who's handling the game booth and gives the prize is the advisor character from Ka (the who looks all regal, plays the drums, and strums the balcony harp thing, IDK what his name is)
This sequence may sound pretty boring but it is meant to give the kids to interact with each other, establish chemistry with each other and their personalities as well
Set everything up, y’know
Cory and Duke are discussing the future, cause now they are and will become adults, and how it kinda blows and it’s too confusing
Duke is complaining about the usual stuff, such as probably having to move out, graduate from college, etc.
Cory is like “yeeeaah, just prepare your fucking asshole cause you haven’t experienced anything yet”
The pair is just tired and worn out, Cory being more so than Duke
Genny and Babs are just kinda fucking around, like any 3-8 y/os would
They’re interacting with some of the entertainers and are just easily amazed by everything
The pair go to a game booth
Genny loses and is kinda bummed out
Then Babs takes her turn, she wins the toy map
Babs is like “oh… that’s it… my prize is a map”
Cory convinces Babs to keep the prize map because “it’s a keepsake of this wonderful vacation we had in Vegas and it should be treasured like the treasure that it is”
And because Cory doesn’t want her 2-3 singles to go to waste just because of a lame prize
And after some quality fun time, the group is all like “y'know what? A bathroom break would suffice”
Then we get to the good stuff. IDK how the kids will get transported, but through some magical BS they do. The kids take a bathroom break. And this is where the magic kicks in…
This will branch out into four individual stories here:
O
Love
Mystere
Ka
(can’t guarantee when they’ll be released, this is gonna take a while)
Criticism and feedback is always welcome, as dumb as this story is, I do my best writing it and having fun

Job 20:1-22:30, 2 Corinthians 1:1-11, Psalms 40:11-17, Proverbs 22:2-4
Today is the 26th day of August welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I'm Brian it is a wonderful to be here with you today as we continue our journey step-by-step day by day, week by week, month by month through the entire Bible in a year. And traveling a year together in each other's lives as we go through this in community is…it is an awesome thing that we get to be alive at this time on the earth to share and fellowship and be the body of Christ all over the world. And, so, what a joy to come around the Global Campfire today together and take that next step forward. So, we are continuing to work our way through the book of Job and we concluded first Corinthians yesterday, which will bring us to second Corinthians when we get to the New Testament reading today, but we'll talk about that when we get there. First, Job chapters 20, 21 and 22. And we’re reading from the Voice Translation this week.
Introduction to the book of second Corinthians:
Okay. As…as we said at the beginning, we…well as we knew yesterday probably, we concluded first Corinthians, a letter of Paul to the church at Corinth yesterday which brings us to the letter that we know as second Corinthians. And this is probably not the second letter the Paul wrote to the Corinthians. Like, it’s probably at least the third because there was a first one referenced in first Corinthians. Like in first Corinthians there was a letter referenced that was previous to that one, but that one’s probably not preserved or discovered but we'll talk about that in a second. Pretty much among biblical scholars the authenticity of this letter is generally undisputed. And you may be like, “undisputed? This is the Bible. Of course Paul wrote it.” But there have been disputes ongoing…ongoing all the way back into the early church era about whether or not Paul wrote certain of these letters, which isn't to say that they don't belong in the Bible. They’re just certain letters and certain linguistics and certain things in letters that seem as if they…they happened at a later time because of the development of the church structure, things that wouldn't have existed in Paul's time or…or didn't because they hadn’t been formed or fleshed out yet. And that used to bother me a little bit. It’s like, “well then that calls into question lots of things” but it doesn't. I mean the author of the book of Hebrews has been unknown for a very long…there was a time that it was attributed to Paul, but there's like no biblical scholars today pretty much that would say Paul is the author of Hebrews. So, the author is unknown and that's what we get here when we come through some of these letters of Paul. They are Pauline for sure. And there are all kinds of explanations for why Paul may or may not have written a letter. Some of the explanations would be like, Paul dictated his letters, and somebody wrote down what he said. And, so, if he was using a different secretary a different scribe, somebody else to write down a different letter than the language would be a little bit different because it's being written down by somebody else or as was common in the emerging early church schools around certain teachers and people would form. So, like maybe there was a Pauline school. Paul spent a lot of time in places like Ephesus where he’s doing the good work, where he’s teaching people in an ongoing way. And, so, they are being raised up in this kind of Pauline theology, this thought…the way that he sees things, the way that he received things from Christ and taught those things. And I guess this is a good time as any to just kind of go through those. This…this letter that we’re about to go into, second Corinthians, this is…this is an undisputed authentic letter of Paul. So is first Thessalonians and Galatians and first Corinthians, which we just read, as well as Philippians and Philemon, and Romans, which we already read. These are undisputed letters of Paul. And then there are the…kind of the disputed letters where scholars don't agree, where there’s vigorous…and has been…like this isn't new, this kind of biblical scholarship isn't new at all. It's very very old. Like it wasn't invented in the year 2000 and we’ve been debating these things for the last 20 years. It's ancient scholarship. This has been going on a long time. And, so, the letters that scholars aren't in complete agreement that Paul actually authored although they’re Pauline in the thought would be, Ephesians, Colossians and second Thessalonians. And then the pastoral letters of Timothy – first, second Timothy and Titus – I mean they’re very few biblical scholars or historians that would…that would affirm that Paul wrote those letters, specifically there's church structure etc. etc. in those letters that a historian could say like, “that hadn't developed yet in Paul's lifetime. So, this is of Paul's thinking, but Paul probably didn't write this.” So, does that make something not have any authority anymore in the Scriptures? Not to me, not to me at all. But I’m sharing these things because we’re going through the whole Bible together and we’re trying to get as much of the story, as much of the context of what's being said as we possibly can so that we come out of a year in the Bible basically going like, that was the tip of the iceberg, I'm diving in so that we develop a relationship with the Scriptures throughout our lifetimes. So anyway, back to second Corinthians one of the authenticated letters of Paul. It's just that second Corinthians has a few complexions to it. It almost seems like maybe more than one letter was stitched together to create this a cohesive thing that could be read among the churches. So, could be that this first letter that Paul is referring to in first Corinthians is actually stitched in…is a part of second Corinthians as well as…I mean some scholars think there's almost up to like five different pieces of letters or notes or something that…that has been consolidated into second Corinthians. Others think it's maybe a couple…a couple of different letters that were put together and consolidated so that they could be…they could be read. Nevertheless, Titus who was a son in the faith of Paul had visited the Corinthians and then later on met up with Paul during his travels, as he’s doing his missionary journey, and Paul then was able to hear from Titus some feedback on what was going on in Corinth and even some of the impact of his previous letter, which is what we just read. And, then, so Paul writes another letter, which we’ll begin today. And let's not forget what we’re talking about. We’re talking about a cosmopolitan urban city in the Roman Empire and a church within that city. So, Corinth has everything that a big city has. It’s a sensual Roman city - many ideas, many persuasion…persuasions, it’s is a secular society, rebellion in a lot of ways - and as part of the culture some of these feelings, some of these persuasions they found their way into the church. And we can wonder like, “how would that happen?” And all you got to do is go to any church today and see that it's the same…like we are informed by the culture that we live in. So, we live in one part of the United States, we’re gonna have certain convictions and certain persuasions because our culture is that way. And we can go to a different part of the United States and find that our brothers and sisters think very differently about things. And then we can go to another country and find out that the experience of Jesus is…isvery different because it's contextualized in the culture, into the way we can understand things. And, so, some of this is coming into the church at Corinth. And we remember when we read first Corinthians, division was a big issue. And this big issue has not dissipated. And, so, there…there were members in the…the Corinthian church as we remember from first Corinthians who were like, “I’m of Paul. I'm of Cephas. I'm of Apollo’s s. I’m of Christ. So, there’s like these divisions and some of that has continued to the point that there are certain people trying to kinda take over. So, like church politics existed in the early church. So, some people are taken over, trying to take over, get power, even questioning Paul's authority at all, even though he founded the church. They’re questioning his leadership, his rules, whether he’s really an apostle, even his gospel, even the gospel itself. And, so, Paul's addressing these kinds of things and they are not unfamiliar. It's just a different time. They just wore different clothes. They just had different technology. But the heart of the matter…yeah…the heart of the matter is still with us today. And, so, with that we begin second Corinthians chapter 1 verses 1 through 11 today.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for its ability to do what it says, to keep at the very low level of our identity and speak to us there and we need that and we are grateful for that because we’re searching for identity and we search at superficial levels. We search for an identity by seeing how well we’re doing compared to somebody else when Your word can speak identity into the depths of our souls. And, so we are grateful and we invite Your Holy Spirit to plant the words spoken each day into the soil of our hearts, that we may be fruitful, that we may bear the fruit of the spirit bountifully, overflowing, a harvest so rich that it spills out of our lives and touches everyone around us. This is our work. and this is accomplished by surrendering to You. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com, its home base and…yeah…it’s the website but it's home base. It's where the Global Campfire lives around here between the website and the Daily Audio Bible app. This is kind of our little portal into community here. So, stay tuned and stay aware and understand what's going on around here.
Check out the resources that are available in the Daily Audio Bible Shop, they exist for the journey that we are taking together through the Bible in a year every single day. So, check that out. Check out the Community section that’s where to get plugged into community on social media as well as where the Prayer Wall lives and…and there are times where there could not be a better resource…just a place to reach out and know you're not alone and a place to reach out toward each other. Sometimes when we feel at the lowest God really uses our reaching out toward each other in prayer as a way of lifting our own spirits up. So, be aware of the Prayer Wall it’s always happening.

Awakening: Naoya
.
"I'm counting on you..Amen."
"-counting on you Naoya-kun!"
Startled, Naoya was ripped out of the daydream. The words still ringing in his mind, though he had no idea what they meant. Disoriented, he blinked and began to focus on his surroundings. He was in a restaurant, sitting in a small booth opposite the petit, short haired woman in front of him. The lights low, and the room was buzzing with quiet chatter. Mind totally blanking, he asked a bit dumbly. "Say that again?"
"I said, I'm counting on you to be there at the show." Maki crossed her arms, frowning at him slightly. "You remember don't you? I've been asked to appear on TV again and... I could really use some support."
The present finally caught up to him. Right...the talk show at Tokyo radio station. A past associate of there, Trish, was hosting a 'Let's Talk' show and wanted Maki on. Naoya had agreed to appear on the show with her in case Trish decided to get rowdy and off topic again.
"Right, of course." he smiled a bit strained. "I'll be there, count on it."
Maki's frown didn't leave, her eyes studied him closely. She tilted her head, a familiar questioning look on her face. After being friends for years...well better friends after high school, the two had come to know each other well. Now she could pick up on his 'moods' just like he could tell when she was feeling anxious. They didn't have to verbalize the question anymore. This was her way of asking, 'want to talk about it?'
He mumbled a quick, "not now" before looking back to his forgotten menu.
Truth be told...he wasn't sure what it was that had been weighing on his mind, or what had been bringing forth these words of promises...oaths he should keep. Plus..the name used was not his name...but the name of him.  Now if only he knew...what was the oath he made? Who was it that was counting on him?
 ---
The walk home had been quiet. After dinner, and night had fallen he'd walked Maki back to her hotel, reassuring her that'd he'd call her tomorrow before leaving. Naoya wasn't heading home though...there was still too much weighing on his mind, and he was trying to piece together why these memories had hit him. Not since his brother's death had he been this torn. These memories were not his own but yet...they where? This pain, and emptiness was his but it seemed deeper then just the usual knowing he dealt with.
These memories are ours...Remember.
Naoya walked along the city streets, passing store windows. The whispered voice filtered through his mind, making his body stop. One name slipped from his lips, a whisper.  "Amen..."
It wasn't so much that he heard...he felt him come out. Slowly, he glanced at his reflection in the shop window. It looked the same as always...a middle aged man, wearing a trench coat. Pale skin, and messy hair that  his koi hated. But there...like a cloak, a shadow always following him was...his other self. a large shadowy figure, it hadn't fully summoned.  As his eyes traveled to his reflections face, there was the difference. Golden eyes gazed back at him. The reflections mouth set in a grim line. You should remember my words from before...
Naoya looked away. "You aren't truly me..your just a shadow."
Amen-Ra scoffed. I am thou and thou art I. I am the darkness locked in your soul. We are one and the same.
He turned away from the window and walked on, though it was futile considering that his Persona could not be ditched. It followed him, and continued to speak on. You can't escape the oath...or our punishment.
Gritting his teeth, he continued to ignore the Shadows words. Punishment? What punishment? Heading towards...were was he heading? He must have been...out of it, because now he stood before a temple. There was something there though...it pulsed.
Ah, here is the place...Our re-awakening...remember now?
It slowly dawned on him what he meant. This place...a Shrine, this very shrine...he and Maki had decided to go sightseeing. She insisted on leaving their hotel early that morning to visit landmarks of the neighborhood. One being the Hino Shrine. However..as they had passed, something had happened....
xxxx
As they began walking up the steps of the shrine, something happened...There was an unseen surge of power, no one without a Persona would have known what it was. People screamed, fleeing from the area in terror. The very ground began to shake beneath his feet as the intense surge of magic, fear and the urge to flee hit him like a train. Inside, the deepest part of his soul, a voice that had been silent for years woke from its slumber. On the heels of that..it felt like something was trying to come to his mind, a memory from long ago that had been buried.
Amen-Ra began to thrash, he..Naoya was trying to reach for something but the urge to flee became to strong..what broke his nerve to stay was the scream of Maki. Opening his eyes, she was doubled over on the ground crying and clutching her head. Cautious, he looked up at the steps and then back to Maki...and then they fled.
"What...what awakened", he gasped and collapsed to his knees at the foot of the shrine. The presence, his Persona manifested before him. "What was that power?"
Amen-Ra said nothing, only placed his hand atop his vessels head. It was cold, though strangely comforting. Something ancient...
Naoya laughed bitterly. Great, just what he needed...more 'ancient' terrifying deities wanting to play games, though truth be told the man Philemon was on equal grounds of scary. It's the key to...opening the rest of our memories..ending our suffering.
He frowned, and looked at the Persona. "What? I thought you knew what it is that thing awakened."
Amen-Ra looked away. Not all...the oath, is still not awakened in your mind..and my sin has not come forth..but it awakened my..our punishment. He stopped from saying more, then sighing heavily he vanished. With that his voice was silent, leaving Naoya with two things on his mind. One...whatever that thing, it was ancient and possibly evil. Two...it would be his demise.
Gazing up at the shrine above him, he felt a sense of...dread. Did he really want to know what that thing was? Did he want to die by its hands?
'BEEP'
Pulled from those downhill thoughts, he grabbed his cell phone out of his pocket. At the name he smiled slightly before answering. "Hey Kei...I'm coming home."
For now..he would just go back to his home, and for now...just push these resurfacing memories aside...
---
this is..part one of a crossover series, featuring all persona protags. It is set in the fanfiction Never Gone by Jecir and it is Sailor Moon...I won't lie, Naoya was a bitch to write...>>

Persona 4 Golden X FeMC!Reader
———————————————————————————————————–
04/20/WED-Lunch Break | School Roof "... so what I'm asking is-please help me get rid of her..." Chie whined as she finished her story. Next to her is her Persona, standing ruggedly next to her. She had long flowing hair kind of like Yukiko's (who you all really need to save right now), a strange white helmet that has a red lips design at the mouth and a yellow jumpsuit that really completes the female Bruce Lee look. A naginata was strapped onto her back as her white combat boots were firmly planted on the floor.
"So you're Chie's Persona, huh?" You said. "Nice to meet you. I'm (Last Name)(First name). This is my Persona, Izanami."
Izanami nodded. "It is nice to meet you."
She eyed you both warily until she nodded. "Likewise. I am Tomoe, Chie-san's Persona."
“He-hey... We got a new chick on our team." Jiraiya sauntered over. "I'm Jiraiya, Tomoe-chan. And let me just say that don't you look just absolutely-OWW!!!" Jiraiya exclaimed when he got hit by Tomoe's naginata.
"I do not tolerate men such as yourself." Tomoe spat.
"And of course being a Amazon-like warrior you have a distaste for men." You deadpanned.
"Just tell me how to get rid of her! I can't stand a person living in my house that watches me like some creepy stalker!" Chie exclaimed.
"No can do, Chie. You can't get rid of her. She's your Persona whether you like it or not." Yosuke said, ignoring Jiraiya's whimpers. Chie cried in exasperation and clutched her head.
"Please do not feel sad by all of this, Chie-san. No one can see us besides our owners so at least no one will question Tomoe." Izanami said, comforting Chie. After a minute of depressed noises, Chie took in a deep breath and smiled widely.
"AAAAAALLLL RIGHT! Now that I have a Persona like you guys, we can finally save Yukiko, right?"
Yosuke nodded. "Right after school, we'll all go to Junes and finally save Yukiko."
The three of you nodded, all determined to save Yukiko.
04/20/WED-After School | Castle Floor 4
"Bufu!" Tomoe unleashed a blizzard that froze the Shadows.
"Cleave!" You crushed your card and Izanami sliced the Shadows, turning them into black mass.
"Alright. It's nice to watch the ladies do all the dirty work." Jiraiya purred.
You sensed Tomoe's urge to run her spear through him and waved your hands in order to calm her down. "Don't worry. He's always like this." It worked but she didn't cease her murderous glare. You said to your teammates to go further. The Shadows were mildly easier to defeat thanks to the ice skill that Tomoe has. And you picked up some items for your team to wear to increase their stats and having a lot of materials to sell to Daidara.
"Teddie, how much farther till we see the stairs?" You called out.
A moment of silence ensued. "It's very close! I can smell it from here! It's just past by that-"
The four of you stopped to see more Shadows. And majority of it were the tongue ones.
"-swarm of Shadows." Teddie whimpered.
"Why only the tongue ones, though...?" You whispered to yourself.
"Whatever! We'll just plow through! Let's go Tomoe!" Chie ran up ahead with Tomoe following. You opened your mouth to say something but Yosuke beat you to it.
"HEY! What happened to not going off alone!?"
You patted his shoulder. "Let's just catch up to her." He sighed and readied his knives while you got your naginata. 04/20/WED-After School | Castle Floor 5 "Guys, I can sense somebody here! I think it may be Yukiko!" Teddie said. Chie instantly stopped and turned to Teddie, eyes full of hope.
"She's here!? Where is she!?" Chie exclaimed.
"Calm down, Chie." Yosuke said calmly. "We'll find her. Just stick close, okay?"
With a steady breath, you placed your palms flat against the door and pushed it open. The huge room held space for the svelte form of Yukiko and a large Shadow: a knight on top of the metal ghost of a horse.
Shadow Yukiko chuckled. “Surely my Prince wouldn’t lose to guards such as this?”
“I-It’s attacking us!” Teddie whimpered. The form of Yukiko disappeared soon afterward, leaving your group to fend against the tall Shadow. It raised its massive lance and charged at you. You dodged by rolling to the side, breaking the card as you summoned Valkyrie.
“Everybody, keep moving!” You called out. “Cleave!”
The woman slashed her swords at the Shadow however it was blocked by the large lance. From the other side Chie summoned Tomoe, brandishing her naginata to swing at its blind side. Metal clanged against the armor painfully as the sound bounced across the room.
“Garu!” Yosuke called out, Jiraiya summoning a strong gust of wind. It rattled against the chain mail but it appears it didn’t do much.
“That’s not it’s weakness,” Teddie yelled from afar, “try something else!”
You changed your Persona, opting for Ukobach instead as Tomoe continued her onslaught.
“Agi!” You called out, the little demon flinging its spoon to throw fire at the Shadow. The flames caught on the clothed parts of the Shadow, making it panic and buck around.
“That’s its weakness! Nice going sensei!” Teddie commentated. “Hit it while its panicking!”
“Give it your all!” You commanded, summoning back Izanami as your group dished out everything they had at the Shadow. It’s armor moaned pathetically, the knight body drooping pathetically.
“Finish it, Izanami!”
Your Persona advanced, twirling her naginata as she impaled it directly at the knight’s body, piercing until it went through the horse’s underside. The Shadow shook violently until it disappeared from existence. From the dark mass, a single glass key dropped on the carpet.
The cold chuckling of Shadow Yukiko rang through the castle. “If you really are my prince, then we will surely meet again. I am a trapped soul... I cannot leave this place even if I wished...” And thus ended with another chuckle.
“I...” Teddie said after the chuckling. “Don’t sense her anymore.”
He suddenly gasped, his paw grasping your arm. “Are you hurt, Sensei? I’m sure we’ve got a long ways to go so don’t push yourself too hard!”
You patted his paw. “I’m fine. Let’s keep moving. The faster we move, the better chances of finding Yukiko.”
Tomoe sheathed her own spear. “I agree. Chie-san, please consider the proposition.”
Chie stretched her legs which were slightly littered in nicks. “Fine. Let’s keep moving.”
Exiting the empty room, your group continued the exploration of the castle. The only noises were your footsteps, the Personas bickering, or the voices of the castle that seemed to torture the castle ruler. After climbing another set of stairs you immediately see a golden hand walking aimlessly at the far end of the corridor.
“Teddie, what’s that?” You asked the bear.
“It’s a rare one!” He exclaimed. “Go after it!”
“I’m on it!” Jiraiya responded, drawing his ninja stars and ran towards the hand. He slashed at it but the golden hand was resilient and ran off.
“Leave it, Jiraiya.” Tomoe stated. “It’s not worth our time.”
And with that, your group continued once more, this time Jiraiya mumbling how his ‘easy cash’ got away.
“I’ve met women like you, Tomoe-chan—AAAAAGH!”
“Shut it, frog.”
“You didn’t let me finish, woman!”
“Yosuke, tell Jiraiya to step off!” Chie defended.
“What!?” Yosuke wailed. “It’s your Persona that makes mine a personal punching bag!”
“To be fair,” Tomoe stated, “this frog never stops with the puns. Together with Teddie.”
“Hey, my puns aren’t that un-bear-able.” Jiraiya joked as Teddie snickered.
“Guys!” Izanami interjected in their argument, “Would you please stop your bickering? (Name) can’t concentrate without your voices annoying her!”
“It’s true.” You added, dusting off the fallen materials from the defeated Shadow. “I’ve been keeping it in for like the past few floors. I’ve been letting it out on the Shadows instead in hopes of not scaring you all.”
“O-Oh sorry, (Name)...” Chie apologized meekly.
Then it was Yosuke. “Sorry, partner.”
Then Tomoe. “I also apologize, Izanami and (Name).”
Finally Jiraiya. “Sorry about that.”
“Okay...” You breathed out, slightly better that the noises are gone. “How much do we have to cover, Teddie?”
The bear sniffed the air. “I can smell her. She’s not that far!”
“Good.” Izanami said. “Let’s keep going.”
Your group trudged onward, however not noticing that your respective Personas slowed down to the back.
“Isn’t it weird that Teddie can see us?” Jiraiya asked Izanami.
“Well...” The goddess started. “He is an entirely different species from us, so it’s plausible that those of his kind might see us.”
“I, however, think that it’s a useful ability.” Tomoe declared. “It makes things easier for us to communicate.”
04/20/WED-After School | Castle Floor 8
“There she is.” You stated, eyeing the room to see two Yukiko’s; one in a pink kimono and one in a pink ball gown.
“Oh?” Shadow Yukiko mused. “My goodness... Three princes here to see me? Oh how I’ve wished to take a better look at you.”
“Well then,” Jiraiya purred, “she definitely knows a way to a man’s heart.”
“She can’t see us, you idiot.” Tomoe snarled.
“Then did she include (Name)?” Izanami added.
“It’s getting awfully crowded in here.” Shadow Yukiko stated. “Why don’t you and I go somewhere else...? A land far, far way... where no one knows me...”
The entity bent her upper torso, showing a slight bit of cleavage as she grinned. “If you’re my prince you’d take me there, won’t you? C’mon... pretty please?”
“I volunteer Yosuke as tribute.” Jiraiya proclaimed, raising his hand.
“Shut up!” Yosuke fumed.
“Wait, she said three princes?” Chie said to herself. “Does that include me and (Name)?”
“She obviously meant me!” Teddie yelled from behind.
“That doesn’t explain me though.” You commented.
“Through logic... she is including Chie and (Name). Don’t you dare make a comment about that, Jiraiya.”  Tomoe threatened.
“I have like 10,000 comments about that, woman.”
“Chie...” Shadow Yukiko giggled. “Yes... she’s my prince.”
“50,000 comments now.”
“She always leads the way... Chie’s a strong prince.”
“100,000 comments and rising.”
“Jiraiya!” Izanami yelled.
“Fine... just a 100,000.”
“Or at least she was.” She grumbled. “When it comes right down to it, Chie’s not good enough! She can’t take me away from here! She can’t save me!”
“Save her?” You questioned. “Save her from what?”
“Historic inn? Manager-in-training!?” Shadow Yukiko barked at her other self. “I’m sick of all these things chaining me down! I never asked to be born here! Everything’s been decided for me! From how I live to where I die!”
The entity clutched her head in despair, the memories of what she had said were clearly affecting her so hard. “I’m so sick of it! To hell with it all!”
“She’s so distraught...” Izanami said forlornly.
“I just want to go somewhere far away...” She muttered. “Anywhere but here.”
“Stop...” The real Yukiko whispered. “Please stop...”
“I have no hope if I stay and no courage to leave. So I sit on my ass, hoping that someday that my prince will come. I don’t care where we go!” Shadow Yukiko screamed, posture losing the princess stance to a more deranged pose. “Anywhere is fine! As long as it’s not here, I don’t give a damn!” Her lips rose to a delirious grin as she sneered at her other self. “Historical tradition? Pride of the town!? What a bunch of bullshit!”
At this point, the real Yukiko shot up her head. “How dare you...!”
Izanami called your name. “This is bad. If this continues then...!”
You grit your teeth. “I know!”
“Isn’t that right... me?” Shadow Yukiko said with finality.
Yukiko, the frail-looking girl that you saw at the floodplain, rose up in absolute defiance at her other self. “N-No! You’re not me!”
Crap, you thought.
The other her started giggling which slowly led to maniacal laughter as she hugged her sides, making her breasts squeeze together. Black smoke started to surround her as she continued to laugh.
“This wonderful feeling!” She said gleefully, pausing from her laughter. “If this keeps up, I’ll... I’ll...”
She never got to finish her sentence for the smoke that surrounded her finally swallowed her whole, making her disappear. A clanging sound was heard from above as you looked up and gasped: a giant metal cage and what was inside was a giant red bird with the head of Yukiko. The cage fell to the floor with a cacophony of metal screeching against the ceramic floor.
With the immense force from the fall of the cage, Yukiko was blown away until she was behind your group. Teddie immediately ran towards her, dragging her far away from the monster.
“I am the Shadow... The true self...” The beast said, raising a wing to its chin. “Now my prince, why don’t we dance and make merry together?”
“Teddie!” You called out to the bear. “Keep her safe, alright? We’ll handle things from here!”
“You got it, sensei!” He replied back.
With the tarot card before you, you crushed it in your palm before calling out, “Rakunda!”
A purple wave surrounded the bird. “Chie, Yosuke! Go now!”
“Garu!” Yosuke chanted, casting a gust of green wind at the bird.
“Skewer!” Chie yelled, Tomoe thrusting her spear forward at the Shadow. Once the attacks connected, you called out to them to immediately back up. Surprisingly, the attacks didn’t look like it scratched the bird.
“It didn’t even leave a mark!?” Chie gasped.
Shadow Yukiko chuckled. “We’re not done yet... Show me this strength of yours. Come my prince!”
A lone spotlight shone beside the beast. A small, almost comical looking prince Shadow brandished a sword at your group.
“The hell!?” Jiraiya questioned loudly. “If you could summon your own prince then why complain to us!?”
“Focus, Jiraiya!” Izanami yelled. “(Name), let’s go!”
You nodded, running towards the smaller Shadow together with your Persona. Once you two were near sword length, you quickly sidestepped to its blind spot as Izanami took the front. With the Shadow blocking Izanami’s attack, you took your chance to swing your naginata at the Shadow. The blade tore through the body, dark mass spilling out like liquid from the open wound.
“Yosuke, I’m leaving you to take care of the other one!” You shouted to the orange-haired boy. “Don’t let me down!”
“You got it, partner!” He yelled back. With newfound vigor due to your praise, he twirled his knives as he chanted out a wind spell. Jiraiya surged forward, using the wind to spin the chain connected on top of the cage. With Shadow Yukiko disoriented, he slammed his foot on the head of the bird as it went inside the cage, its head hanging outside the door.
“All yours, woman!” Jiraiya yelled out.
“Chie! Let’s go!” Tomoe said in affirmation.
“Alright-y!” Chie yelled, taking a running start towards the disoriented Shadow. The girl drop-kicked the cage door which slammed against the neck of the bird. Tomoe, with one foot planted on the ground, lifted her leg then continuously kicked the door, it slamming over and over against Shadow Yukiko.
“Keep it up, Tomoe!” Teddie yelled over the distance. “You’re doing a lot of damage!”
After the onslaught of kicks, Jiraiya jumped off from the cage and used another wind spell, now just being overkill. You smiled tiredly at the teamwork of your friends, momentarily lowering your guard.
“Sensei! Look out!”
You gasped as Izanami pushed you away but it was too late; the sword pierced through the surface of your left thigh, leaving a nasty scar that bled quite a bit. You let out a pained scream at the wound, using your weapon as a crutch.
“Dia!” Yosuke chanted, a pale green light shining down above you as you immediately felt the wound closing up and the pain ebbing away.
“Thanks, Yosuke-kun.” You said to him, grinning but frowning too quickly. “But isn’t that the last of your S.P.?”
He was in the same state as before you fought Shadow Chie; skin becoming too pale and already drenched in a cold sweat. However, he wore his usual smile, the one that made you relieve yet worried at the same time.
“I’m fine, leader! Don’t mind me.”
“Heal up, Yosuke. Don’t waste anymore S.P.” You ordered before tossing him a bottle to recover his S.P. “Let’s go, Forneus! Bufu!”
The manta ray Persona delivered a block of ice towards the prince, making it topple down.
“Ice is it’s weakness!” Teddie yelled. “Keep at it!”
“Chie!” You called out.
“I’m on it!” The girl replied, smashing her tarot card with her foot. “Bufu!”
Tomoe twirled her spear, blocks of ice starting to be pelted at the Shadow. The blocks made each part of its body disappear, now soon disappearing into nothingness.
“Got ‘im!” Jiraiya said.
“What? Are you trying to make me mad?” Shadow Yukiko called out, recovering from her dizziness. “That’s not how it’s supposed to work, you have to escort me!”
The bird flew out of her cage, brandishing her talons to scratch Tomoe. Luckily she dodged just in the nick of time. Suddenly, Shadow Yukiko flew upwards and spread her wings out and soon flames started licking up the whole area. Both Chie and Tomoe were mostly affected by it since they’re so close.
“Chie-san—” Tomoe started but stopped to wince. “Curse my weakness! Are you all right?”
Chie coughed from the smoke. “It’s okay! I’m fine, just tired.”
“Hmph, it looks like I had the wrong idea.” Shadow Yukiko stated, “You’re no princes... die, you worthless commoners!”
Suddenly a large, overly decorative chandelier fell down from the ceiling and was about to fall directly on the two girls.
“CHIE! TOMOE! MOVE!” Yosuke screamed as he scrambled to protect them. You ran as fast as you could, your leg still not fully recovered. “Valkyrie!”
Forneus quickly changed into the woman on horseback. You hopped onto her horse as it galloped to block the chandelier with her two swords. However, you miscalculated the weight and force of the chandelier as it dropped on you and Valkyrie instead, the metal digging on your skin as you screamed in pain.
“(Name)!”
“Sensei!”
You didn’t know who called your name. The chandelier was insanely heavy on your body and it was hard to breathe every time. It didn’t help as well when the whole room was on fire as well. Shadow Yukiko laughed, bringing her wing to her chin.
“Like I said: worthless.”
“Hang on, partner! I got you!” Yosuke reassured, his tarot card appearing in front of him.
“Leave us!” The beast shrieked, sending down another wave of flames at the boy.
“Garu!” He chanted, a gust of green wind blowing away the fire as Yosuke and Jiraiya crouched near you and Valkyrie. You changed your Persona to Izanami, hoping to have her help but you realized that didn’t really help.
You coughed out some blood. “Yosuke...”
“Stop talking,” Jiraiya said, voice suddenly stern, “breathe in and out deeply. Don’t try to move so much.”
Yosuke’s eyes widened at his Persona, completely blown off by his attitude change. “Jiraiya?”
“Yosuke, grasp that part of the chandelier.” The Persona ordered, his own hands grasping the other side where Izanami was. “On three.”
“Chie!” Yosuke called out to the girl. “Sorry for this but you’re on your own for a little bit!”
“I understand!” She replied back, summoning her tarot card as she and Tomoe attacked the beast.
“1...” Jiraiya counted. “2... 3!”
Both he and Yosuke lifted the chandelier. With the small space you have, you quickly crawled out with Izanami following. Once you two got out, the two males immediately dropped the chandelier. Yosuke helped you up, holding you closely against himself. Jiraiya did the same for Izanami but she gently pushed him away.
“Oh, that’s how you treat your hero?” He accused.
“I don’t need your sass right now, Jiraiya.“ Izanami huffed, swinging her arms to loosen out the stress. “More importantly, we’re still not done.”
“I know.” You breathed out. “Let’s go back. I have a plan.”
“You sure, (Name)?” Yosuke questioned. You nodded.
“Just follow my lead.”
You crushed your tarot card, Izanami’s blade glowing brightly as she cleaved the bird. She dodged but Izanami continued her attack. The bird had to fly away from her cage.
“Tomoe, cut the chain off the cage!”
“Go, Tomoe!” Chie ordered, her Persona immediately cutting off the chain, dropping the cage with the door open.
“Jiraiya—”
“I got this!” He interrupted you. He ran to the cage and grabbed it with both hands.
“Ice her, Tomoe! Bufu!”
The warrior twirled her blade, ice shooting up to meet the wings of Shadow Yukiko. The ice that formed across her wings weight them down heavily as she fell down right inside her own cage. Jiraiya closed the door up, bending the bars in order to lock it.
“The bird is successfully caught!”
“Let me out, you commoners!” Shadow Yukiko screeched.
“IZANAMI!” You shouted.
“ZIO!”
Her blade danced with electricity as she dived her blade straight at through the space from the cage and pierced Shadow Yukiko. She screeched like a banshee, flailing inside the cage. Together with the metal conducting the electricity, it made it even more painful for her. After the electric session, the bird twitched from the volts and then stopped moving. Izanami lifted her naginata off the bird’s chest as the body, cage, and flames disappeared in black mist.
“Great idea, (Name). Using her own cage as a weapon.” Your Persona commended.
“Yeah,” Jiraiya started, “that plan was really shocking to say the least.”
Tomoe groaned. “That was horrible... But I’m spent to deal with your antics.”
“You guys did it!” Teddie called out from the back. “I knew you could do it!”
“You just stood back there and called out stuff that we were  pretty sure we could figure out ourselves.” Yosuke said to him, annoyed.
“It’s because I can’t fight like you guys! Don’t blame me...”  Teddie rebutted but slowly trailed off at the end. A groan made your group turn to see Yukiko’s form slowly waking up.
“Yukiko!” Chie cried out, running towards her best friend. You and Yosuke followed, surrounding Yukiko as Chie placed her in a sitting position. “You okay, Yukiko?”
She was about to speak but stopped when she looked at something. You turned to see Shadow Yukiko back in her human form.
“Still alive?” Tomoe questioned.
“I’m game for round two.” Jiraiya taunted, cracking his knuckles.
“Jiraiya,” Izanami said to him calmly, grabbing his scarf. “This isn’t our fight now.”
“What?” He asked, confused. She cocked her head to the real Yukiko.
“No...” She sighed out. “You’re not...”
“We understand.” Yosuke cut her off. “You’re not the only one like that, Yukiko-san. Everyone has something they can’t show to other people or don’t want to admit themselves.”
“Yukiko, I’m sorry...” Chie choked out. Tomoe hummed questioningly at her master.
“I can’t do anything right on my own and I’ve caused so much trouble for Yosuke and (Name). If you weren’t by my side I...” Chie paused to wipe the incoming tears. “I wouldn’t know what to do... I’m so sorry..!”
“Chie-san...” Tomoe muttered softly.
“Chie...” Yukiko said. “I never saw the real you either.” Her hands took Chie’s. “I was too busy trying to find an easy way out.”
With her hands still in Yukiko’s grasp, Chie pulled her up. Yukiko let go of her friend’s hands and walked towards her Shadow. “I want someone to run away, I want someone to save me...”
Her hands now clutched her counterpart’s gloved ones. “You’re right. Those feelings are a part of me too. I understand now,” Yukiko said with finality as she finally smiled for the first time, “you’re me.”
Her other self smiled as she disappeared in a blue aura, giving everybody a glimpse of her Persona. It disappeared, leaving Yukiko to collapse on the floor.
“Yukiko!” Chie called out. She ran to her friend. “You okay?”
“Yeah...” Yukiko replied. “Just tired...” She then looked at your group. “You all came to save me, right?”
“Of course.” Chie answered. Yukiko gave out a tired smile, closing her eyes before she dropped to Chie’s body.
“Oh my, she must be tired.” Izanami stated. “We should escort her out of here.”
Chie, being slightly not as battered as you and Yosuke, took the job to piggyback Yukiko back at the entrance. The medicine that you had in storage were all gone and even with those, your group still looked like they survived a bear attack.
“I guess this is safe to say you guys aren’t the culprits after all.” Teddie said after your walk.
“You still suspect us, you lying sack of honey?” Yosuke groaned.
Jiraiya gave out a short laugh. “We are the same person.”
“Can it.”
“By the way, Yosuke,” You said to him, his head turning to you, “thanks for the save. You too, Jiraiya.”
“Right,” Izanami started, “thank you, Yosuke and Jiraiya. I’m surprised at how serious you could be when the situation requires it.”
“Ho ho?” Jiraiya hooted. “Well not to be a sad sack but if you want to express your thanks in a different way—”
“I make punching bags out of sack, frog.” Tomoe snapped.
“That’s enough.” You ordered, the two of them instantly staying quiet. “Let’s go home now, for real.”
———————————————————————————————————–
Persona Time
“I’ve got to hand it to you,” Jiraiya said, “not once, but twice.”
“What are you talking about, dude?” Yosuke replied, slowly placing his battered limbs on his bed. The pain of the TV world finally took its toll on his body. Hopefully this wouldn’t last for a long time.
Jiraiya floated down from the ceiling and jabbed at Yosuke’s chest. “You--in the same place--saved (Name) twice and got her gratitude twice. And don’t you lie to me that it didn’t felt good when you felt her again when you held her up.”
With how much Jiraiya had taunted Yosuke with you and your measurements, he finally started to practice having a straight face whenever he starts to bring you up.
Pressing his lips in a thin line, Yosuke scoffed as he turned away from him. “Don’t forget that Izanami thanked you too.”
“She—” Jiraiya rebutted. “Did. Not. Let me help her up so you get my problem, right?”
Yosuke sighed in annoyance, closing his eyes as he prayed he would have the power to walk tomorrow.

“Ch-Chie-san!” Tomoe gasped, staring in awe and worry at how her master is pressuring her body. “Stop it this instant! You’re wounded from the fight!”
“No can do!” Chie grunted, kicking the air whenever she jumped in time with the music. “I saw somewhere that this is great training whenever you have sore muscles, so this is the perfect opportunity to do it!”
“CHIE!” The voice of her mother yelled from downstairs. “STOP PRANCING AROUND IN YOUR ROOM AND GO TO SLEEP!”
| Dojima Residence |
“Um...” Nanako trailed off. “Are you okay?”
Your face was contorted into a painful grimace as you attempted to sit yourself down on the dining chair. Even bending legs was absolute torture to you.
“I’m fine.” You wheezed. “Just tired.”
Izanami sighed from behind you. “Oh dear...”

Spoiler Free* Guide and Tips for Playing Persona 2
I’m gonna start this off by saying that I love the Persona 2 duology, they’re both amazing games with a great story (my favorite in the series). But as someone who’s played both games multiple times (and also came into the series with P4 like many others) I can attest to how...annoying...the gameplay can be for some. So I decided to write a little (it’s not little actually it’s quite long) guide with explanations of some things and some tips to maybe get some people interested or help people who were already interested but were put off by the gameplay.
This was written using how I’ve played these games as a reference so naturally a lot of the stuff written here is subjective and may not work for everyone.
*There are a few Persona/Dungeon names in here but nothing story-related.
So first off, Persona 2 is split into two separate games: Innocent Sin (IS) and Eternal Punishment (EP). Both games were released for the PS1 and rereleased for the PSP. Both games are also available through the PSN on the Vita (both) and PS3 (only EP).
IS has a fan localization for the PS1 version and an official localization for the PSP version. I haven’t played the PS1 version so this guide is only gonna be based on my experience with the PSP version but I think generally most of the stuff here should still apply no matter which version you play.
EP is only available in English for the PS1 version. The PSP release unfortunately has not been localized, and although I believe there was a fan translation in progress, I don’t know the current status of that project. Therefore, I will be referencing the PS1 version.
I also highly recommend playing them in order (IS first, EP second) because EP is the direct sequel to IS and while it can be played first you will miss out on many of the references EP makes to IS and you will also miss some helpful context for the story.
Tips for Both Games:
So the gameplay in both of the games is pretty similar. To make matters simple: you’re gonna be fighting demons a lot. P2 doesn’t have any of the social elements from later games, it’s just dungeon crawling.
In both games you’ll be put in the overworld of Sumaru, a city separated into multiple wards (only a few of which will be open at first). In the overworld you’re free to go wherever you want without interruption (unlike P1 which had overworld random encounters). Each ward has a few different places you can visit but all of the wards have a mall-like place that has all the shops and essential areas (i.e. healing, weapon/armor/accessory stores, restaurants, and the Velvet Room).
In both games the place you’ll probably be visiting the most is the Kuzunoha Detective Agency (located in the Hirasaka ward in IS and the Aoba ward in EP). Here is where you’ll go to spread rumors, a key feature of P2. Depending on the rumor you spread you can get better equipment, open a casino (which I’ll talk more about later), and a bunch of other stuff that can be super useful. You can get these rumors from various Rumormongers throughout the city. The plot reasons for this will be explained in the games so I won’t say much else about it.
As for Personas, unlike in later games they don’t have levels that increase with experience. Instead each Persona has a number of ranks. When a Persona is first obtained (either through the Velvet Room or when Philemon throws his magical Persona-granting butterflies at you) it will be at Rank 1 and will only have one or two skills. In order to rank up your Personas you will have to use them in battle (each rank will have a little counter and every time you use a Persona’s skills in battle the counter will go up).
Once a Persona ranks up it will possibly learn a new skill (this is pretty much the same as later games; each Persona learns a new skill at certain ranks so you just have to keep ranking it up to get all of them). When you create a Persona in the Velvet Room it will show you everything about the Persona before you make it, such as what skills it will eventually learn and its stats and all that so you can plan accordingly based on what skills you think you’ll need.
Obtaining Personas: As I’m sure most people already know Persona 2 uses negotiation in order to obtain new Personas. If you’ve played Persona 5 you already have sort of an idea of what this is like, however P2’s negotiation system is very different from P5’s. One important difference is that in P2 you don’t get EXP from a battle in which you negotiated instead of fought.
In P2 negotiation is called “Contact” and you select a character or multiple characters to talk to a demon. In IS each character a has a list of 4 topics used to start a conversation with a demon. You can also combine characters to get special conversations. I recommend looking up a contact guide because there are a lot of different combinations and demons and it can get pretty confusing remembering how each demon class reacts to each option.
The demons will also sometimes ask you questions and the answers you want to use can sometimes change even when the same demon is asking so it’s kind of hard to gauge how it will react in that situation. I don’t really have any suggestions for that because it tends to be random but there are plenty of demons so if you fail a contact it’s really not that big of a deal.
EP’s contact system is exactly the same as IS except that instead of each character having 4 topics they only have one.
Now as for what contacting is used for, every contact relies on an emotional reaction that the demon gives when you talk to it. In the PS1 versions the demon will flash one of four colors indicating its mood. In the PSP versions this is represented by a little icon in the corner of the screen that shows 4 colors: green, blue, red, and yellow. Every time you pick a dialogue option while talking to a demon one of these will increase and once one of them increases 3 times that will determine what the result of the contact is depending on which color increased the most:
Green: This means the demon is happy and is extremely useful. When you encounter a demon for the first time this is the color you want to go for. When this one’s maxed that demon will offer to make a contract with you (you can have a contract with up to 3 demons at one time). When you have a contract with a demon you can get special items/info from it if you contact it again in another battle. This can range from just stronger healing items to special rumors that you can have the demon spread for you which can help you fight special enemies or get to previously blocked areas in a dungeon (which is entirely optional and is only required to unlock all the areas in the optional bonus dungeons). Contracts are only possible if the demon is at your level or lower. If you try to make a contract with a demon that’s a higher level than you it’ll just mock you and tell you to try again when you’re stronger. The best benefit of contracts is listed under the Yellow bullet point.
Blue: This means the demon is scared. If you max this one the demon will run away and you won’t get EXP or those sweet yens.
Red: This means the demon is angry. If you max this one the demon will get pissed and attack you. If you have a contract with a demon and max out red, the demon will break the contract.
Yellow: This means the demon is excited and is probably the most useful one. When you max out yellow the demon will give you a number of Tarot Cards of a certain arcana (if you’ve played the later games you should already know all of these). These cards can then be taken to the Velvet Room where your bro Igor will use them to create Personas. Even better, though, are Free Cards. These cards can be taken to the Demon Painter (also in the Velvet Room) and he’ll turn them into whatever tarot you want. As far as negotiation, Free Cards can only be obtained by maxing yellow on a demon you already have a contract with. There is another (EP only) method to obtain Free Cards that’s detailed in the EP section.
You can also get new Personas by taking Personas that have gone through Mutation to the Velvet Room where you can have Igor change them into a new Persona. A lot of the time the Persona you can change it to will actually be worse so make sure you check the new Persona’s stats and skills before you have Igor change it. (Explanation on Mutation below)
You will also get new Personas as the story progresses. These are essentially the characters’ “main” Personas. These include the characters’ initial Personas (the ones they start with), secondary Personas (IS only: you get these from Philemon about half way through the game, in EP Maya is the only character to have one of these), and ultimate Personas which have their own section below.
In IS it’s generally possible to play the entire game with only the initial, secondary, and ultimate Personas, however creating some new ones with mid-level healing spells can be helpful to give you an extra boost. In order to get the secondary Personas you have to pick correct dialogue options at certain points in the early-mid portion of the game. I won’t say which options these are but the general idea is that whenever the game gives you the option to help one of your teammates it’s better to just let them handle it by themselves instead.
In EP it’s much more difficult to play with only the main Personas so it’s best to make new ones whenever you feel like the ones you have aren’t giving you the strength you need anymore. Maya is the only character in EP to have a secondary Persona and the only way to obtain it is by mutating her initial Persona. The best way to make sure you can do this quickly is to use Maya in fusion spells as much as possible early on (more on all of that in the sections below).
Ultimate Personas: In IS these are given to the party by Philemon, with the exception of one character who’s ultimate can only be obtained through Mutation. However, there’s a condition that must be met in order to obtain them. Once you reach a certain point in the game you will visit the Mt. Iwato dungeon. Here I highly recommend exploring the entire dungeon thoroughly as there are items you must collect in order to get the ultimate Personas. These items will be in rooms that lack random encounters and let you talk with your party members.
In EP you can create these in the Velvet Room once you’re around level 57. In order to create them you have to collect material cards from the Mt. Iwato dungeon so, again, I suggest exploring it thoroughly.
Healing: I strongly advise creating a Persona with Mediarama early on because it’s extremely useful as Media can become practically useless very quickly. Satomi Tadashi sells healing items from the very beginning of the game ranging from HP/SP to ailments. I recommend stocking up on at least 1-3 of everything if you can afford it and especially Rattle Drinks and Chewing Souls because they heal a lot of HP and SP, respectively. Some ailments (especially possession and poison) are a pain in the ass and carry over from the battle to the field so it’s good to always have at least a few items that can heal them with you at all times.
Battle: Now, probably my most important battle tip: use fusion spells as much as possible. They can turn a difficult battle into a cakewalk and make grinding go by much faster. They also have the added effect of possibly causing Persona Mutations, which are very useful. Besides all of the other benefits of fusion spells, they can be extremely useful against bosses. If you’re having trouble with a boss, chances are you’re not using fusion spells enough.
Most fusion spells are very powerful, especially against enemies that are weak to that spell’s affinity. In order to do a fusion spell you must have certain specific skills set in a specific order. For example: one of the first fusion spells you can do is Hydro Boost, in order for it to activate you must have 3 characters using a fire, earth, and water spell (Agi->Magna->Aqua) in that order.
The first time you use a fusion spell it will activate automatically but every subsequent time the game will ask you if you want to activate it. In the fusion spell menu you can also change it so that it activates automatically or doesn’t activate at all. In the PSP versions the turn order stays the same as whatever you set it to. That, unfortunately, doesn’t apply to the PS1 versions so you have to actively go in and make sure they’re in the right order every turn. The PSP versions also have cool little cut-ins for fusion spells kinda similar to the all out attack cut-ins so that’s neat.
Another thing to note is that you must discover fusion spells through trial and error. Barring certain circumstances that are explained at the end of this post, the game will not tell you which spells you need for a fusion spell. That said, the MegaTen wiki has a list of fusion spells and how to make them for both games if you ain’t about that guessing life: IS | EP
For weapons, it’s not really necessary to have the strongest weapons available. Most of the time you’ll be using Persona skills so while it’s good to at least have strong weapons, you don’t need to sell your kidneys so you can get some amazing Super Guns.
Throughout each game you will be able to spread rumors about weapon stores. Each store will have 3 separate rumors you can choose from: “strong weapons for a high price”, “average weapons for an average price”, and “weak weapons for a low price”. I recommend getting the average weapons because you don’t really need to be spending a million yen on a sword when you could be spending it on more useful items.
That said, in order to make the best of that arrangement it’s best to designate your stats toward a specific setup. Whenever the protag (Tatsuya in IS, Maya in EP) levels up you get 3 points that you can put into 5 different stats:
Strength (St in PSP, STR in PS1)
Vitality (Vi in PSP, VIT in PS1)
Magic (Dx in PSP, TEC in PS1)
Agility (Ag in PSP, AGI in PS1)
Luck (Lu in PSP, LUC in PS1)
Strength raises physical attack, Vitality raises your max HP (and defense I think?), Magic raises your max SP as well as your magic attack, Agility raises your speed, and Luck raises...well...luck, which I believe affects criticals among other things. Some Personas also give you a bonus point for a specific stat when you level up if you have them equipped.
Of course this means some stats will get more points than others. You can obviously choose whichever ones you want, however I recommend focusing on Vitality and Magic the most and Agility on the side. This will give your protag a lot of magic strength as well as a large SP pool for said magic and HP for survival. What you lack in Strength and Luck you can make up for with your other party members.
Here’s an example of a Magic boosted Maya from one of my playthroughs:
Tumblr media
See how much SP she has? She could kick anyone’s ass with that much SP (And also heal anyone’s ass so it’s doubly useful).
Persona Mutations: Occasionally after doing a fusion spell you’ll get a notification that something happened to one of the Personas used in the spell. EP also has a nice way of notifying you that this has happened by putting the word “MUTATION” on the screen in bright yellow letters in case you missed it. When a Mutation occurs one of four things will happen:
The Persona’s stats will increase
The Persona will go up 2 ranks (very useful if you’re trying to rank up your Personas for their Good Skills™)
The Persona will learn a special skill
The Persona will be able to change forms (this is when you take it to the Velvet Room and have Igor change it as mentioned above; you can only change a Persona to a new one if you get this Mutation specifically)
(EP only) The Persona will gain something called an “Unknown Power”, which is an ability that occasionally activates when the Persona user is at low health. What a specific Persona’s ability does depends on which type of ability it learned. The MegaTen wiki has a helpful list.
My last big battle tip: with the exception of boss battles I recommend using the fast-forward option during battles. In the PSP version of IS pressing the Start button will initiate this and in the PS1 version of EP you have to go into the Battle Config menu (visible in battle as well as in the settings screen) and switch it from “Real” to “Simple”. This will speed up random encounters by replacing the battle animations (which kinda take a lot of time) with simple little blips to show who’s attacking/being attacked. In EP (PS1) this option is automatically turned off for boss battles. As I haven’t played the PS1 version of IS I don’t know if that is also the case but in the PSP version you have to turn it off manually.
And like I said, these games have a lot of random encounters, although you generally won’t need to grind unless you spend more time contacting demons than you need to. That said the dungeons can get long and grindy so if you’re like me and get sick of hearing the same dungeon theme for hours I recommend putting your own music on or listening to a podcast.
Tips for Innocent Sin
In Persona 2, dungeons become inaccessible once they’re completed so Atlus was kind enough to put in an optional bonus dungeon called the Abandoned Factory. Here you can find demons from dungeons you’ve completed. For those of you familiar with Persona 5 this bonus dungeon works in pretty much the same way as Mementos. As you progress through the game, new areas, which are all numbered in order from 1-6, will open giving you access to old demons so that you can still negotiate with them or grind if you need to. You can also find notes as you explore the factory that explain how it became abandoned.
(PSP version only) The Theater is accessible almost immediately after starting the game. Here you can play special mini episodes that contain stories that are actually pretty interesting, and sometimes comedic. In the JP version you could also play some made by other players but this was unfortunately removed in the localization. Instead we get 2 stories made by Atlus: School of the Heart (which takes place at St. Hermelin, the school from the first Persona game), and The Persona Thief (which takes place at Karukozaka High, the school from SMT if...). Both are multiple episodes long and have a wide variety of demons increasing in levels as you go so they’re super useful for grinding.
Towards the latter half of the game you’ll get everyone’s ultimate Personas. I recommend using these for the rest of the game as using them against the next few bosses will give them an extra affinity resistance as well as another cool benefit.
That benefit being the fusion spell “Grand Cross”. This spell requires the unique abilities of each of the ultimate Personas to create one of the most powerful fusion spells in the game, which also happens to be extremely useful against the final boss.
One of the characters’ ultimate Personas is only available by Mutating their initial Persona, once you reach this point in the game you’ll know who’s it is but I’ll avoid mentioning it here due to spoilers. This mutation is only available by completing the Aquarius Shrine dungeon with the character’s initial Persona equipped, rather than through fusion spell Mutation.
Tips for Eternal Punishment:
Similar to the Abandoned Factory, EP also has a bonus optional dungeon where you can grind and negotiate with old demons. However this time the dungeon is the Bomb Shelter. While it’s in a different location it functions exactly the same.
Maia Custom is Maya’s secondary Persona which can only be obtained by Mutating her initial Persona, Maia. I recommend doing this sooner rather than later as it learns Mediarama which is super useful early on.
About halfway into the game you have a choice of spreading a rumor about a man or a woman. Depending on which one you choose the next two dungeons will be different and you’ll get a different party member for the second half of the game. This part of the game is full of references to the first Persona game so if you’ve played that or at least know the story then, cool, you’ll probably enjoy this part. If you haven’t, don’t worry, it’s not really necessary. You won’t really be missing out on anything that’s important to understanding P2′s plot, you’ll just miss some subplots related to P1 (although I do recommend checking out P1′s story if you can). It doesn’t really matter which one you choose. The man’s route is probably a bit more tied to the main plot, however I personally prefer the woman’s route. They’re both pretty equal in terms of difficulty and you can always replay if you want to see both.
Related to that, when you finish the game you have the option to save clear data which can then be used to restart the game in a sort of beta version of the series’ normal New Game+ option. This carries over Persona/Demon lists and analyze data as well as any Tarot Cards you’ve collected and any fusion spells you’ve unlocked. When you complete the game you’ll also get a little icon on your save file that shows which character you picked in the above bullet point. In NG+ if you choose the other character a second icon will appear upon completing the game for a second time. Once you’ve done this the EX dungeon will unlock allowing you access to a series of dungeons that you can go through to reach the Bonus Boss! Once the EX dungeon is completed a Jack Frost icon will appear on your save file along with the other 2.
Similar to IS there’s a super powerful fusion spell using the ultimate Personas called “Dragon Cross”, although I’d say it’s probably not as good as it was in IS. I’ve fought the final boss multiple times with this mixed in with a couple of other fusion spells and I haven’t had problems so it’s definitely still useful. That said I recommend bringing more than your ultimate Personas for that fight (as well as multiple healers).
MAPS!!!!! So this is something I love about EP but I’m sure not everyone will. In EP, about halfway through the game, the Narumi ward will become available, and there you will be able to find a man named Salam Ladeen who gives out map sidequests once you spread a rumor about him. Basically, he gives you a blank map for the next dungeon you’re going to and while you’re there you can fill up the whole map by walking on every space in the dungeon (including damage floors and trap floors). I’m not gonna lie, this is extremely tedious but it’s worth it. Not only does the extra running around give you an extra chance for leveling, turning in a completed map will net you a huge reward usually involving a ridiculous number of Skill Cards, Tarot Cards, and Free Cards, as well as the rare Fool Cards (Tarot Cards of the Fool arcana which are obscenely difficult to obtain through negotiation). Basically if you do these you pretty much never have to do demon negotiations ever again. This has helped me get really good Personas as well become overleveled by the end of the game.
There are also 3 special Personas that can be obtained. These Personas are Maihime Amano, Tatsunoshin Suou, and Junnosuke Kuroda. If you get all 3 of them and rank them up all the way you’ll unlock a fusion spell that will OHKO one of the final bosses of the game (the boss of the dungeon following the Torifune dungeon). Maihime Amano and Tatsunoshin Suou can only be obtained by spreading 2 rumors immediately after finishing the Torifune dungeon. You must also talk to Mizuno at Kismet Publishing once you gain your 5th party member and select “no” when asked a question. In the spirit of keeping this post spoiler-free I won’t say any more about them. For specific details I recommend looking up specifically how to obtain these two (or shoot me an ask if you want).
Junnosuke Kuroda, on the other hand, is tricky piece of shit. In order to get him you have to fill an offertory box (requires 10,000 yen) near the end of the Mt. Mifune dungeon, which is only accessible near the beginning of the game. He’s also a Fool arcana Persona which means you’ll need at least a few Fool Cards. This is entirely optional but I can attest to the fact that killing a boss in one hit in this game is very satisfying. All 3 of these Personas are only available to summon after the Torifune dungeon is completed.
Bonus Stuff:
One of the fun things to do in these games is to talk to NPCs. You can find out lots of neat little tidbits that you would otherwise miss. These games are filled with small things that really add to the game’s story and sometimes even count as foreshadowing so I definitely recommend talking to anyone and everyone whenever you’re not in a dungeon.
In the Kuzunoha Detective Agency there’s a kitty by the door that meows at you and asks for money. Once you pay a certain amount something special will happen. In EP you can also spread a rumor late in the game that has the same effect as paying the cat.
One of the very first rumors you can spread is about Mu Continent. Mu is a casino located in Yumezaki ward. There are 3 rumors you can choose from: “poker has high payout”, “slots have high payout”, or “blackjack has high payout”. You can choose any one of these, though I always go for blackjack because I have an obsession. At the casino you can buy coins to use for the games. Whichever rumor you spread will cause that game to have an increase in the amount of coins you win per bet. For example in blackjack normally you get 2 coins when you bet 1, however with that rumor spread you get 4 instead of 2. If you’re good at any of these games, you have a lot of time, or both, you can win lots of coins that you can exchange for prizes that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to buy.
One of these prizes is the “Orb of Solving” which is an equippable accessory that shows you one spell needed for a possible fusion spell that you can make with your currently equipped Personas. If you buy 5 of them (aka the number of characters in your party) then it’ll just tell you exactly what you need for a fusion spell. This basically serves the same function as the lists on the MegaTen wiki that I linked to earlier but without the need to keep that tab open for a month. You need 15,000 coins to get 5 of them, though. To get that many you need to be very good at whatever game you picked (slots is entirely luck based so I recommend not choosing that one). Blackjack is probably the game you have the most control over.
Once you finish both games I recommend reading Tatsuya’s Scenario (seriously don’t read until you’ve played both games this thing’s filled with spoilers). It’s a bonus thing that was included in the PSP rerelease of EP and so unfortunately it’s only available in fan translation text format but it’s a really interesting read and the translation is great!
And that wraps it up for my super long hopefully helpful guide to Persona 2! I love these games so much but I can understand why people would be hesitant to play them. I promise the story is definitely worth it, though. There’s so much detail put into the story in these games, it’s honestly amazing how much there is. If you plan on playing them I hope you enjoy them and thank you for taking the time to read this! And of course if anyone has any questions about something in here or that I didn’t include feel free to send me a message!

Final
(this is the final battle and ending)
Nyarlathotep: Congratulations... You finally made it... The last toy is right here...
jun is hanging from the 'ceiling'
Maya: ......... Tatsuya: Give... Jun back...!! Nyarlathotep: You're wondering why nothing has happened to you. Well, I saved the best for last... We must show your secret to your friends. Right, "Paradox Boy"?...
the scene flashes back to the Other Side
Nyarlathotep: Huhahahahaha!! You have learned something. The reality of the world... There are things that you have no control over! I am the shadow of all humans. As long as humans have dark hearts, I will live. Face the last trial of the Crawling Chaos!!
tatsuya attempts to take a swing at nyarlathotep before nyarlathotep vanishes
Philemon: There is a way to change this reality. You must forget about that one summer day... Nyarlathotep began weaving the threads of fate that day... If we erase that instance, this tragedy would have never occurred. A new time woven and a world reborn... Eikichi: You can... do that...? Philemon: Realize this... A human's heart possesses the power to change the flow of reality. Even without the Xibalba or the Crystal Skull, your strong will and action have the energy to change reality. Even the power that created the cosmos you live in is the same as yours... In this collective unconsciousness, it is possible. Jun: Do you mean start over from the beginning? In return for our... memories...? Ginko: You mean... forget everyone...!? I... I don't want to!! Isn't there another way!? Philemon: Not in this world, where he has power. The dark hearts of people unconsciously aiding world destruction is his source of power... In order to suppress him, people must change... You will create the new world... Jun: I... won't forget... How can I forget... Eikichi: Hell yeah... I ain't gonna forget...!! If everything was set up by him, then let's do it... Let's teach him that things won't go his way anymore... Ginko: We... WILL... meet again, right...? Philemon: Then, see yourself as who you should be. Your powers should mold a new reality.
one by one, jun, eikichi, and maya's body vanish. lisa kisses tatsuya
Lisa: A kiss... So that I won't forget about my Tatsuya...
lisa vanishes
Philemon: Well then... We will part for a short time. Are there any final words you want to say?
Tatsuya: >Thank him.
Philemon: There is no need for thanks... I pray you are able to break the unwritten law and remember each other... Farewell...
Tatsuya vanishes, and an FMV plays. The kids speak in turn:
Eikichi: We went through a lot, but I'm glad we met again. Don't forget what you promised, dude. Lisa: Tatsuya... Don't forget me. I do love you. Jun: You won't forget, or say goodbye. Just, thank you. Tatsuya: I don't want to forget what happened! How can I forget? Guys, don't go... Don't leave me alone... Please no, please no.  No!!!
(i think this transcription is right? to do: check this against video later)
the scene returns to Monado
Katsuya/Maya/Baofu/Ulala: ........!! Nyarlathotep: (chuckle) How's that, Tatsuya Suou!? Do you like your punishment? You couldn't ask them to fight with you. That's because the sole reason the world is at the brink of destruction is... YOU!! Tatsuya: ......... Nyarlathotep: You broke your promise with your friends. The condition to stay in this world was to give up your memories from the old world!! But you rejected it... At that moment, the boundary separating the 2 worlds vacillated... That was you!! That's why you failed to synchronize with the you of this world... Maya: ......... Nyarlathotep: Push all the pain upon your friends, and still retain your memory... That's an unpardonable sin... A sin must have punishment. That's why I gave you the chance to meet her again. I coaxed fate for you all to meet again. Tatsuya: Ch... Nyarlathotep: What's wrong?... Are you going to hide in your shell again? That face of yours when you met that woman and regained your memories... You should have seen it... Maya: ......... Nyarlathotep: Am I detestable? But that is what you humans desired. You craved destruction from the depths of your hearts... That is me! The shadow does not forgive anyone who goes against fate. Baofu: Ahhh, shut up... You can take this fate of yours and stick it up your ass! Listen up, Tatsuya... Fate is... Katsuya: No different from a prediction too late. If something happens, all you have to say is this... Ulala: "It was all fate!" Nyarlathotep: Muhahahaha...!! Pathetic humans! I'll show you what happened to those who said the same thing to me in the past!!
nyarlathotep transforms
Nyarlathotep: Understand that there is no point in living! Cry, that there is no answer! Where there is darkness there are shadows! I, myself, am all of you humans!! Tatsuya: I won't turn my back again... On the sin I committed... Nor on myself!! Tatsuya/Nyarlathotep: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
(depending on how you handled the shadows earlier, this form is either weak, of moderate strength, or strong. you know, if a challenge is desired. I think I noted before that the name of this form is mistranslated)
Moon Howler: Why did you come here? Heh... to spout gibberish? Desc: Crawling Chaos, one of Nyarlathotep's embodiments.
(and there's a second form naturally)
Nyarlathotep: Fuhahahahaha! This is! Splendid! You are the first to see this form! Die with my highest praise!
(contact:) Nyarlathotep: Are you afraid? No one can ever escape the shadows! Nyarlathotep (low on HP): I won't accept it!! Desc: A mass of gods with 1000 names and faces at the center of space.

That's right... Nyarlathotep: Hmph... Muhahaha...!! What irony!! THIS is my FATE...!? But... remember this...! The masses of idiocy that squirm in the center of the cosmos are yourselves...!! As long as you exist... so too shall I...!! Baofu: You're too damn stubborn... There's no such thing as a human without shadows... We'll make you remember that your place is here... Tatsuya: Yeah... I know... Katsuya: Tatsuya...! Ulala: Tatsuya...! Maya: ......... Tatsuya from the Other Side: We are connected by this ocean... We can... meet again...
the scene fades out, followed by some placards (which i couldn't transcribe quickly enough) and reopens at kismet

Of course it was. But, thanks to him, we can go on with our lives. Ellen: It is... ironic, isn't it... His appearance is the same... but I can't believe he doesn't remember anything... Nate: The same with Jun Kashihara and the rest... Imagine not remembering being the key to saving this world... Ellen: Hey... Nate... Do you think... he... they... don't actually remember...? Nate: I'm not sure... But I know that there are two things that are for certain... Praying for the people's sake isn't wrong. And... We have an obligation to lead this world properly... This world which he saved... Ellen: You're right...

NO MORE SLAVES - August 21, 2020
The Word we read today, an epistle of one chapter, from the Apostle Paul to his fellow worker in the ministry Philemon, touches on a subject that is very controversial even to this day.  Of course, since time immemorial, slavery has been present in all civilizations and human settlements throughout the world. This is largely caused by one group of people thinking themselves superior to the other and either by force, fraud or manipulation, render somebody even though they be respectable and of high status in society, subservient to them, enslaving them either physically, mentally, emotionally, economically, socially, or politically.  For after all, even wise King Solomon has said, “the rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” (Proverbs 22:7)
And this has indeed resulted to the destruction of many people and cultures in ancient times, when for example, those who lost in war are taken captives and enslaved.  Sadly, even when humanity has supposedly attained enlightenment and entered the modern age, lingering prejudices still fueled its modern forms: we have rich employers working their employees to death with very minimal pay, benefits, and rest privileges; there are top ranking private or public officials living luxuriously while those under them who do the dirty work live through piled up debt from payday to payday; oligarchs engaging in cutthroat competition and destroying startups and would-be competitors either by the so-called “corporate evils” of buy-ups and mergers and acquisitions; rich billionaires buying up lands and racking up prices so high that the ordinary salaryman is unable to settle down and build a home for his own family; husbands and partners who maltreat their wives, children and partners, thinking they are weak, and should just be confined to an eternity of housekeeping and servitude while with them, never to be as equals; and even the always-right-customers berating and maltreating sales personnel for being “so ignorant” so as not to cater to their specific whims and wants.  If in olden times slavery was often a result of wars and invasions, in our generation today it is often an offshoot of fraudulent financial manipulations and economic disadvantage and deprivation.
But times seem to be changing, what with the pandemic and all, exacerbated by a growing restlessness of people around the world at all the difficulties and hardships they are undergoing from corrupt and inefficient governments, brilliant management strategies and administrative rhetorics that do not filter down to the grassroots, so that there is an ever-growing call to have much of the western world make amends with their history of slavery and even racism.  And even in the eastern world too where we belong, socialism, the monarchy and communism are starting to show its cracks, with those who have been its victims and slaves for several generations now, making their complaints and voices of dissent louder.  It seems these systems and ideologies were never able to prove themselves right and ideal, and people are starting to shake themselves free from the shackles that politics, tradition and culture have bound them to.
And so we read that Philemon’s slave during the Apostle Paul’s time, Onesimus, was a runaway that was apprehended and imprisoned, and became the apostle’s friend and disciple while in jail.  One would understand why Onesimus ran away, for his sentiment is alive even to this day.  Yet, when he came to know Christ through the preachings of the Apostle Paul, he may have realized that he needs to set things right with his former master. And so the apostle had to write this letter in order to convince Philemon to accept Onesimus back, but to not look down on him anymore and treat him as a slave, but as a brother in Christ, and a member both of GOD’s family and Philemon’s own.  Onesimus may have realized that no matter what his status in life may be, whether a paid servant, or a lowly slave in the eyes of the world, yet, because he has now accepted the risen Christ in his life, he is actually a free man.
There is a great lesson for us in here too.  I for one used to think that to spend almost an eternity working for just one employer, even without any means of advancement, is tantamount to slavery.  But like Onesimus, I realized that freedom is indeed a state of mind.  It doesn’t matter where I work, who pays my salary, or whether I occupy only mid- or low-level positions, because these things could never bind my eagerness to learn new things, to experience new adventures, to get to places I’ve never been when I get the chance and have saved for it, and to grow myself personally and professionally, even without accolades and recognitions dotting my wall of fame at home.
And in a nod to the wise King’s admonition in the Proverbs, I learned too that freedom, in the financial and economic aspects, is not having a large bank account, or wide-spaced properties, tall buildings, cabinets full of clothes, shoes and jewelry, but a simple thing—being free from the bondage of being a borrower or debtor.  My grandmother was indeed right, that whenever we want something, saving for it is much more rewarding and liberating than getting drowned in debt just to get it right away.  One grows as a person, learns more and gains more wisdom during the patient waiting, diligent working, and faithful saving.
And so, we share in the apostle’s thoughts, that if we ourselves live lives that do not bind us to the temptations of this world, but align our visions to GOD’s will and plan for our lives, we will live truly free.  And such perspective disables us from looking down on others, because we realize that we are all made in GOD’s image, and we all have the capacity to live in such freedom too.  Maybe then will there be no more disadvantaged, abused, defrauded and manipulated people on earth.  Maybe then, we will all truly live as free men and women, and no more slaves.

“Hellloooo, Nodens? Are you in there?”  Nyar knocked on the door.
No reply came from inside, but Nyar didn’t care – he entered anyway.  Nodens was careless as always, leaving his door unlocked.  Just as Nyar had suspected, he was sitting at a table, scrutinizing every word of one of the many books on his table.  Balled-up scratch paper surrounded his feet.
“Geez, Nodens, how long have you been in here?” Nyar loomed over his twin’s shoulder.
Nodens turned the page, completely ignoring Nyar.  The book was much more interesting to him.   What secrets were hidden among the pages?  He had to know, and Nyar was only getting in the way.  Nyar walked over to the curtains and opened them up, causing Nodens to instinctively put his hand over his eyes.
“Close that!” Nodens hissed, wishing his brother would just leave him alone.
“It’s bad for your eyes to read in the darkness.  Sooooo…” Nyar smiled innocently, “don’t you think you’re… forgetting something?”
Nodens turned back to his book, “you’re being a distraction.  Go talk to Azathoth if you want companionship.”
“What’s up with you? Ever since you realized that you could plant thoughts into people’s heads and make them believe it unconditionally, you’ve been obsessed with knowledge.  And to answer my question earlier?  Weeks!  You’ve been in here for weeks.  You call me in here and give me a list of what you want, I get them for you, and then you tell me to bug off,” Nyar nagged.
“Don’t you realize how much further humanity could get if I was able to plant the rightidea in their head?  Science would progress so much faster!  People would change as a whole!” Nodens gave Nyar a frustrated expression.
“What about me?” Nyar’s usually playful tone of voice was absent.
“What about you?” Nodens looked away, disinterested.
“Don’t you care about me?” Nyar questioned, sounding concerned.
“Of course I do.  Is that all you wanted to ask?” Nodens looked back to his book, writing a note on one of his many scratch papers.  He frowned, shook his head, crumpled it up, and threw it in the steadily increasing pile of ideas he considered garbage.
“So if you care about me, why don’t you spend time with me?  Are these humans really more important to you than I am?” Nyar inquired.
“You’re being selfish, Nyar. Go talk to Azathoth,” Nodens was starting to sound annoyed.
“Me, selfish?  You’re the selfish one here!  This is all about your ego, isn’t it?!  You want people to look to you as the one who’s gifted them knowledge, don’t you?  You can’t stand the thought of humanity progressing without some interference from you! Only someone egotistical would have an ability like yours!” Nyar barked, clenching his fists.
“Get out, Nyarlathotep!” Nodens shot up and went for a nearby spear, pointing it inches away from Nyar’s nose.
“Why have I even bothered with you?  The moment something like this catches your interest, you become a shut-in, acting like I’m some annoyance and pushing me off on other people.  I’m not taking this treatment anymore!” Nyar growled, storming off and slamming the door behind him.
Nodens sighed and placed his spear back to its original place, sitting down in his chair and burying his face in his arms.  Just a little more.  He’s so, so close.  He closed his eyes, and…
… What was that noise?  Had he dozed off?  He lifted his head and looked around to find the source of the strange creaking.  A blue butterfly was there on his chair, staring expectantly at him.  Nodens tried to brush it off but it only moved a few inches.  It continued to stare at him.   Did it… want something?
As Nodens stood, the butterfly took off, slowly flying towards intended destination.  He followed his new friend out of his room. He didn’t remember his door leading to a forest… had he really been in there for so long?
Nodens continued to follow the butterfly.  As he walked deeper into the forest, he began to feel like he was wading through water. At first he thought the forest was blue, until he realized that color wasn’t coming from the trees but rather the pure mass of butterflies that inhabited it.  He looked around curiously, wanting to stop to investigate, but his guide wouldn’t let him.
…And finally he found a cute little house in the clearing of the forest.  A border collie came over to greet him, and trotted by his feet as he approached the home.  Suddenly, he heard the creaking again.  A nice old lady in a wheelchair approached him.
“Who are you?” Nodens raised his eyebrows.
“I’ve brought you here to give you what you want – knowledge,” the old lady smiled sweetly, causing Nodens to relax some.
“…Really?  Why?”  Nodens gave the old lady a curious look.
“In return for knowledge, you will give me two things,” the old lady continued, as though she didn’t hear him.
“What are they?” Nodens began to get suspicious.
“Your emotions and your servitude,” A look of surprise spread on Nodens’ face as the old lady spoke these words.
“…My emotions?” He squinted at her.
“What use are emotions when you’ve got all the knowledge you’d ever want?”  The smile remained on her face, unchanging.
“…You bring up a good point. What would I be doing for you?” Nodens began to relax once again.
“Some small jobs… to contribute to humanity as a whole.  I assure you, if you help me, humanity will benefit greatly, all thanks to you,” her smile seemed to grow as Nodens considered it.
“I take your offer,” Nodens finally spoke up minutes later.
The old woman put out her hand.  He took it.
“You will be a guide for humanity, just like that little butterfly there was a guide for you.  No longer will you be Nodens.  From now on, your name will be Philemon,” the old woman explained.
Nodens Philemon felt as though all of his worries had ascended.  His body felt light as though a burden had been taken off of his shoulders. The old woman drove away and he woke up in his room.  Had it all been a dream?  Philemon stood up clumsily, accidentally stubbing his toe in the process.
And yet, he fell nothing. Yes, it hurt, that much he could tell – but he couldn’t bring himself to care.  He exited his room to go back to the forest… this time it didn’t lead to the forest.  It just led to the hallway.  Philemon looked around and began to walk down the hallway unsteadily.
“Look, I just wanted to say I’m sorry, Nodens.  I got this for you as an apology.  I know you wanted it, so…” Nyar rubbed the neck of his neck as he handed Philemon a book, refusing to make eye contact.
Philemon stared at the book.  His brother gave him a gift and apologized, so he should feel happy, shouldn’t he?   And yet, he felt nothing.  Was it not a dream after all?  The name Nodens seemed so unfamiliar to him…  Was he Nodens?  No…
“My name is Philemon. I know no one by the name of Nodens,” Philemon’s voice was monotonous and his expression disinterested.
That’s right.  His name was Philemon.  His mission was to give fire to humanity in the form of knowledge. He wouldn’t let anyone step in his way.

i think just a shadow version of nyarly, so a fake considering it wouldn't be actually him. but i dont think it would be his shadow self maybe? depends on how u view it because you'd have to get further into P5 to decide that ...i think. cause there's cognitive versions of a demon and gods, then there's just a shadow based on someones inner desires in the palaces so to you, what would his shadow be based on his own distorted desires, i guess is the question. but thats only if its affecting him to where others notice it and cognitive versions of anyone ARE DANGEROUS and not some 'backdrop npc' so yeah theres that. nyarly could be heckin up around in the castle to try to kill the thieves lol
man i gotta play more p5.. there’s so much i dont know yet fhfhg also tho i was kinda saying like... in p2 Nyarly basically states that he is the shadow of all mankind. All the shadow selves appearing in p2 were technically him so if that logic were applied to more recent stuff then the humanoid shadows throughout the series would all be him. it’s kinda like he’s there but it’s never mentioned much like philemon is around but not mentioned anymore either.
that’s just like speculation tho hfhgjgh now nyarly the persona would be a different story. a fake/copy of that being summoned in kandori’s palace would probs be a thing.
