Heyo! We've done six of these so far and it's been fun running this little game for yall. I hope its entertaining for you!

Now that we've got some under our belts I wanted to open up for feedback on a few different points. Im going to go over how ive done stuff so far, so if you have any thoughts on aspects of it you can chime in.

Putting the rest under the cut since it's kind of long.

1. Timing

So far I've tried to post new ones at sort of random times in the day so it doesn't give any one a consistent advantage. Im US Eastern and posts might go up anytime between 8am and 2am. I might even use the queue to schedule round the clock.

Another timing thing is that when someone guesses right, I give at least a few hours more before posting the reveal. It's just to give people a little more time to play, even if someone gets the answer right away. That's not to say you cant play after the reveal posts go up, but if youre anything like me, as soon as the ability to see the answer is available im clicking that link lol.

And since the reveal post tags the winner, I wait at least a few more hours for the next silhouette post so the prev winner doesnt have the advantage of being notified of the next one.

So a question here is should I wait longer or shorter on any of these areas? Do you like that its only one unrevealed at a time?

2. Difficulty level

This has been the hardest because it's a learning curve to find what's easy, what's hard, and why. There are SO many characters and runs, so it's hard to know if something I thought was memorable was even a blip on other people's radars. So ive tried to do a mix of difficulties.

Easier ones mean more people have the satisfaction of guessing and maybe getting it right, but if it's too easy then it might feel like these are puzzles for babies.

Harder ones mean a challenge and a lot of satisfaction if you figure it out or know that it's some niche thing. But if it's too hard then nobody gets it and it can feel kind of bullshit.

So what im wondering here is, do you feel like these have been too easy or too hard? Do you like it being a mix?

3. Character and image selection

If I put up a straightforward silhouette of Etrigan, everyone's going to get it and there's no challenge. On the flip side if i did a silhoutte or jason blood standing in a contextless room its like that could be literally any random man, so itd lead to random guesses. So ive been trying to find the sweet spot of the silhouette being somewhat familiar but not completely unique, and the rest of the image with some stuff going on. I think that's been going well but it does mean it relies on me and my ability to make a good little puzzle of it. So i hope I've been doing an alright job in that area.

Choosing from particular runs is interesting. I usually think of a character first then go find something they were in. Im finding the stories with other characters and team ups are good options to provide that extra context. But then the tricky part is that i have to be at least somewhat aware of whats popular and whats not. I dont want to use a panel from a run nobody read (unless its really good), and I also dont want to do one so infamous that everyone knows it like the back of their hand. So as with choosing particular images, I hope my choice of titles I'm sourcing these from has been fair.

4. How to guess

I went with tags so it encourages people to reblog and hopefully spread awareness of the blog. I think its also the easiest way people are inclined to interact per post. We couldve done asks but sometimes those get dropped by tumblr, and all the reveal posts would be answers to asks instead of standalone posts.

I like the idea that even for old ones people can still play and have fun with guessing on their own. Not sure if theres a clever way to encourage that.

And i hope the leaderboard is fun. Just a small incentive to participate. Its like saying nice job, thank you for playing.

5. Hints

As mentioned previously, if over a day goes by and nobodys got it ill post a hint. I've only done one hint so far and i was really not sure how subtle or overt i should be. Idk if anyone has thoughts about it?

How did you end up as a byler? Everyone is posting their stories

i first noticed it when s2 came out after seeing how protective mike was of will. the second episode especially when he finds will on halloween and puts his arm around him and doesnt let anyone else touch him was the first time i was like 👀??? i remember thinking to myself “ok do i just want characters to be gay or is anybody else seeing this” and then i went on here and saw a small community of people who shipped them. i dont remember how many followers the tag had but it was probably like 2k honestly. it wasnt much. at this point tho i never thought it would actually happen. i shipped them the same way i currently ship ronance and steddie. i thought they were cute but i didnt at all think it would actually happen mostly just bc its so unlikely for a show this massive to make their main characters be in a gay relationship. there were hints from s1 about will being gay so i thought that was possible but mike being queer was just a fun idea to think about and nothing more. and i thought if anything he’d be bi not gay.

when s3 came out i had byler in mind before starting it and was wondering if itd be anything like s2. at first i didnt see any of the big hints i always reference now so i still didnt think it would go anywhere but i was shocked when mike said “its not my fault you dont like girls”. that confirmed for me that at least will was gay. i remember being so confused when i went on twitter and saw people claiming he just meant it as in he hasnt grown up yet. to me i fully thought that was the show confirming hes gay. but i finished the show not really thinking much about byler because still, no part of me ever thought it would actually happen and there werent much positive scenes between them.

i went on tumblr again a few months later and saw some things on my dash from people i followed after s2 that pointed out s3 byler things that i didnt notice before so i rewatched s3 and really watched mikes behavior and thats when i was first was like “holy shit this could actually happen??” but i still wasnt 100% sold. then they announced s4 in february and i saw the poster with mike and will looking at each other i was fully convinced it would happen. and then a month later i made this stupid blog and ive been yapping to you guys ever since.

i didnt think id ever be this active in the fandom. i was always just lurking for years and following a lot of byler content and maybe sending some anons about byler but never engaging too much. and when i first made this i was like “i might post sometimes but ill probably mostly just reblog, i dont think im smart enough to come up with theories and shit” and now look at me. could not shut up if i tried. its fun tho i like it here.

yes, REALLY FRIGGING WELL, the stuff of FAIRYTALES.

his first birthday ssr told us that hes classically trained in MANY forms of ballroom dance. "many"???? i'd like to think this means ALL actually.

hes most adept with waltzes but he really enjoys a fast paced swing, he can do one HELL of a saucy tango. hes got a wonderful ear for music, just a few seconds of listening and hes clocked in the type of dance and the beat and just what kind of performance people are expecting from it, and he'll lead the way, the picture perfect image of elegance and beauty

perhaps it's not that vyn is good at dancing, it's that hes good at PERFORMING. and at roping you into the performance as well. he's a DAMN GOOD lead, he can do it perfectly, telegraphing the exact movements you need to do to complete the dance alongside with him

but thats the thing, vyn can only ever dance with a partner

(which, sidenote, of all the boys i would put into an ice dance figure skating AU in, itd be vyn richter. and he'd dance like this. REALLY FUCKIN GOOD.)

he doesnt dance without a partner. never has. hes been taught forms of dance ONLY as a part of a pair, ONLY as the one in control. so hes out of his element when hes alone (dont expect him to dance with just himself, theres nobody to direct, what does he do????) or when the other person is leading.

this would make for some cute scenarios. vyn richter may be the ballroom dance genius, but perhaps you know how to dance at a club. he'd gasp in surprise as you move his body for him. when you (or anybody else he trusts) teach him, hes in your care.

all in all, dancing for vyn has a history of being a performance for other people Only. not for him or his happiness. when dance becomes something a bit more "selfish" so to speak, hes surprised and is willing to see where this surprise will take him

guys, this is artem wing we're talking about here. he's stiff at work, he's stiff when hes supposed to be relaxing, im sure on his first date he needs to be TOLD to like, fuckin exhale. this is the most clenched man ive seen in his life, and it's to his detriment.

so much of what makes art FUN is letting a bit of yourself go and artem is like "BUT WHAT IF THAT MEANS I'LL FAIL." before he tries any dance (and maybe it's for the company uhhh...party or some shit? ur not getting this dude to dance because he initiated it, u'll have to finagle a situation where he HAS TO), he watches all the videos and reads up on the history and he has a perfect theoretical understanding of all the moving parts----

and then when he sees u (or insert whatever ship u like, mc, nxx boy, maybe forgo the nxx polycule tho bc 5 people dancing is hard to coordinate so artem will just lie on the floor and die) all that information goes OUT THE WINDOW. he is clenched once more, reblog if u cry every time

see, the REASON he gets so stiff is because of the pressure from the situation (must be perfect), the pressure from you/other (must not let you down), and the pressure from himself (obviously if he fails at dancing he is a horrible terrible no good man who deserves nothing in life [artem wing depression spiral])

he'll only calm down after he makes a mistake, actually. he stumbles and steps on your foot and hes SO SO SO SORRY but you laugh it off, pull him closer, and tell him it's alright. youre both learning together, yeah? mistakes and successes, you'd like to share them both with him

ive written several past posts where i am CONVINCED marius has no personal grasp of musical elements whatsoever, so hes got no beat, he cant dance in time to any song, not even ba ba black sheep.

tho his lack of beat doesnt bother or stop him though from dancing like a SLUT (affectionate)

i think marius learned how to dance at smarmy rich kids parties he was invited to as a kid and he hated those because everybody sucked but the alcohol was good and the inhibitions were loosened. desperate to have SOME KIND OF FUN at this hellish gathering, he starts dancing

marius is a shameless person, he doesnt do dance moves so much as just let his body move in whatever way it wants to. the result is a dance thats electric. full of energy yet flowing at the same time, completely spur of the moment, and really, really...alluring. like, it's not slut from the get-go, marius only MAKES IT slut when he wants to. but his dancing is wholly something you cant take your eyes off of, despite the fact hes dancing to a song that only he can hear in his head.

because marius doesnt dance to music. he dances to the tune of himself.

(art has always been the one avenue where he can be who he is no matter what, yeah? no roles, no expectations. just him, for once, letting go and being him.)

luke pearce

no. he cant. and when he does, hes a HUGE AWKWARD DORK

see, luke just has so much trouble moving his body in situations where hes not fighting/sports-ing. he can do mid air spins with a gun, can scale a rock climbing wall in record time (never getting over it), can show off SO MUCH how hes SO STRONG OOOHHH, but ask him to dance and he'll wiggle. it's excruciating for everybody involved

the NSB TRIED to train him in dance (it would be useful for undercover missions) but the dance instructor nearly cried because luke's body is SO BEAUTIFUL AND YET LUKE IS INCAPABLE OF MOVING IT. after a few hours luke is on the floor, panting, whining, "can i please just kill some people?" so the NSB just lets him go kill some people

but luke isnt immune to the magic of music. when he hears a banger he taps his foot along to the beat, he bops his head, and NSB CCTV camera footage has recorded many instances where hes dancing alone in the elevator. and hes ADORABLE, he mindlessly dances in a way that exudes joy and happiness. no actual "dance moves" from a certain dance style, just luke bopping and vibing like a huge dork. it's the kind of dancing that makes everybody smile and actually heres a visual peg for how i think luke dances

but he stops the moment somebody else is there. bc his issue is that he gets bashful when he knows hes being watched. thats when the shame trickles in because how DARE he let himself have fun

(the good news is that once he trusts somebody else and once that other person bonks him on the head like "I LIKE IT WHEN UR HAPPY, PLS LET URSELF BE HAPPY" he'll come out of his shell and dance in the little moments. when hes cooking, when hes feeding peanut. maybe it's okay to have fun, especially since it gives you joy)

last sidenote: given everybodys HUGELY DIFFERENT styles, motivations, and overall vibes of dancing, please expect that the nxx investigation team new year's eve party---where everybody gets drunk on like 3 bottles of wine vyn made---is an absolute disaster, in terms of people drunkenly dancing.

Out of the entire group, you're the one, who always keeps a cool head and acts as the voice of reason for the others; but especially Denham, who tends to get carried away when he's massacring innocent people. You're not even the leader or a second-in-command; you're just one of the eldest, despite not looking like it at all, but you've been part of the group ever since the beginning. You've seen many members come and go, having killed a fair share of them yourself.

And Denham? He finds you so extremely fascinating. It's hard for him to find any interest in anybody/-thing that isn't utter carnage, but you've occupied most of his thoughts ever since he's joined and it's only lucky for him that you felt the same about him early on, and therefore accepted his advances. The others often wonder how you two could even work so well together, when you're the quiet, mysterious type, who none of them know much about anyway; and Denham is the kind of guy, who can talk your ear off throughout the entire day about everything and nothing, laughing maniacally in-between, and oversharing things nobody would want to hear.

And yet you're one item, always together, while you're patiently listening to him, indulging him, and sometimes even laughing with him (that's perhaps the strangest thing to the other ones, because you rarely even smile).

The truth is that Denham barely knows anything about you, either; but he doesn't mind it, since it only serves to keep his interest in you alive. Still, sometimes it annoys him when he detects more evidence for his progressive age, while you just keep looking like you did when he met you about ten years ago. It's weird! (But also kind of really hot, he has to admit.)

Your most romantic moments in your relationship are when you kill someone together, hacking and stabbing away at them as blood splatters on you both, while Denham is grinning from ear to ear, laughing gleefully, and you look as unfazed as usual, except for the glint in your eyes that suggests how much you really enjoy what you're doing after all.

The minute he took them into town for new clothes it was all “Axel!” this and “hey Axel!” that, not that he minded a bit of course. It’d been a long time since he’d heard their voices, and they could drag him all over the world as far as he cared. His only real complaint was Roxas’s stubbornness.

“I already have clothes,” he huffed, folding black coated arms over his chest.

“Right, I forgot, khakis and checker print,” Axel said. “How stylish, not at all outdated.”

“Well I like them.” Roxas grinned. “And Ansem said he’d get them back for me.”

“Well just pick another couple outfits as a personal favor to me?” Axel sighed. “I can’t be seen with you like that.”

“Like you’re so much better,” Roxas said, gesturing to Axel’s new threads. Axel feigned insult, a dramatic hand to his chest.

“I’ll have you know you’ve been gone a long time, and these clothes are very in right now,” he said. “Everyone loves plaid.”

“Well I don’t know what to get at all!” Xion interrupted them both, hands on her hips and a smile on her face. “Are you two going to stop bickering and help me?”

Axel and Roxas laughed sheepishly, both rubbing the back of their necks.

The store certainly had a lot to choose from, and looking at Xion half dwarfed by a black coat they hadn’t bothered to size for her it was clear she’d never really had to dress herself before. Axel thought for a moment.

“Well, black’s definitely your color,” he said. “Though a little white would be good too, can’t be all doom and gloom all the time. And you should get some pants and some skirts, stuff you can run around in and something cute and fun, right?”

“That sounds good, Axel.” Xion beamed.

“You should just try on as many things as you can,” he said. “Now that you’ve got the chance to.”

“I’ll help you look,” Roxas offered.

“And you help him look too, he’s got bad taste,” Axel said, pointing an accusing finger at Roxas who stuck his tongue out defiantly.

“We’ll help each other, mom,” Xion said playfully.

“Good, you’ve made your mother proud.” Axel smirked, and watched as the teens ran off further into the store. The way they stopped and considered each display had him thinking he had plenty of time to run off and find some ice cream. He’d given them enough munny to shop around for awhile, and they had their phones on them. So, he left the store in search of the old ice cream shop.

Twilight Town sure had changed a lot in the short amount of time he was away, it looked nice. Axel watched kids running out of a movie showing in what had once been an empty lot, people crowding around the new bistro, but some things never changed. They were still putting up posters for The Struggle, moogles were still hassling people out of every coin, and the ice cream shop was still going strong.

“Three please,” Axel said, holding up three fingers to the attendant. While they went to get the ice cream, Axel leaned against the counter and sighed happily.

“So, you really are just going to stay here now?”

Axel gasped at the voice, twisting around so fast he almost lost balance. Not that he felt particularly balanced when he saw Isa anyway.

“You’re back,” he said, breath leaving his lungs like he’d been punched in the gut.

“I’m back,” Isa confirmed with a small smile. He was out of the damn coat, and his eyes were sea green again. That scar was still there, always would be, but it was his Isa after all.

“Well… well hey that’s great!” Axel said, smiling.

Isa rolled his eyes. “Are you really that quick to forgive?” he said quietly.

“Why shouldn’t I be?” Axel huffed. “You’re my friend, aren’t you?”

“... you’re still an idiot,” Isa chuckled.

“And you’re still a dick!” Axel shot back. “... but I kinda am too. So we can just call it even, right? No need for sappy apologies and who did what…”

“Alright,” Isa said softly, one of his hands reaching to his other arm in a nervous stance. Axel wasn’t having any of that, he grabbed both of Isa’s hands and was trying to think of something to say when the attendant held out his ice creams.

“Oh, could you actually make that four?” Axel asked.

“Always eating this stuff,” Isa laughed.

“You eat it too, you just pretend you’re too cool for it.” Axel rolled his eyes. “I seem to remember you stealing some right before the big world ending battle.”

“You had three,” Isa pointed out. “Were you really going to eat three ice creams by yourself.”

“I could!”

“How did you survive without me?” Isa pretended to sigh wearily, getting an elbow in the ribs for his troubles.

“Axel!”

Isa shrunk slightly behind Axel as Xion and Roxas ran up, bags in hand. They froze at the sight of their old co-member, peering around Axel curiously and maybe a little warily.

“Oh, hey,” Axel said carefully. “Guys uh…”

It was Xion who stepped up first, breaking the awkward silence growing between the four of them.

“... welcome back,” she said.

Isa looked shocked, then a little relieved as he shook his head and said: “you too.”

Roxas took Xion’s hand a little protectively, staring Isa down with a fiery gaze. Axel was almost worried for a second before Roxas broke into a smirk.

“Ice cream’s on you, kay?” he said.

Isa chuckled, and nodded. “Okay.”

Maybe they’d all decided to stop suffering under the Organization’s influence, or maybe after so much fighting they were just tired and wanted to have a simple day, or maybe they all just saw how much the other meant to Axel or Lea or whatever they chose to call him but either way it seemed his friends found peace easily. Remarkable considering their past.

Axel wondered if maybe Sora had just rubbed off on Roxas, it seemed like his kinda ‘friendship before all’ schtick.

Roxas and Xion ran a good ways ahead of them, turning back occasionally to urge the other two on. Roxas had a whole plan: ice cream, then taking them to see the wonders of Twilight Town, maybe catch a movie, show them all his favorite places, check out the skate store and get a new board since his old one was just data.

Axel was content just following along with his friends, wherever they were going. It was a relief to be following them and not chasing them if he was being honest.

Isa’s hand found his way into Lea’s, like it had never left. Lea grinned down at his feet a moment before yanking him in for a long overdue kiss.

“Gross!” Roxas shouted, Xion giggling at his side.

Axel rolled his eyes, flipping the kid off. Roxas and Xion laughed, and made various goofy kissy faces at the pair.

“Really now,” Isa said, pretending to be more irritated than he really was.

Axel laughed, throwing an arm around Isa and leading him up the path to follow Roxas and Xion to the clocktower.

1. music is what makes me the happiest in the world!!!!! i lve it so much i literally dont know what id do without music it makes life so worthwhile . the way it transcends even language like just the vibe a song can give u is like insnae.... and people can connect to it regardless and it doesnt even have to be in the way attended it can be absolutely antyhing and idk thats so cool to me . i rlly want to make music i literally spend so much time seeing how artist i like make their music and why they do it and to be frank well...heh.

2. im just a big fan of the arts in general. i rlly love writing! poetry! and well art itself i feel like im pretty good with words but theres something different about putting it in well structured text or in flowy pretty words and of course drawing! much like music art can come accross to all audiences and thats cool as fuck. to me

3. i do love my friends id be a sad little man without them . the love between friends is unmatched!!! id do anything in the world for them. 

4. the moon. i really really REALLY love the moon it makes me feel all sorts of cozy emotions and other mystical things . its literally so beautiful . makes me happy

5. lakes....i like large bodies of water in general for symbolism and just my connection to water in general but living in MN we have so many lakes i am. :) hehe water

Its actually funny, i cant remember ANYTHING from the movie. I have literally only watched it once and that was like 6 months ago. Im not exactly sure WHY i even enjoyed it so much, from what i remember i thought the movie was weird and too loud for me (and kind of obnoxious sometimes) but then again i was experiencing it with my uncle so it must've lowered that a bit.

I've known invader zim ever since it aired on Nickelodeon i think? i use to sometimes watch it when it would air? I dont actually remember. sadly i cant remember what i ever thought of the show nor remember any episodes. i think i was like 'oh invader zim is on? i guess ill watch it' Then again I was also a child watching the show. Aside from the airings only a few years ago i would SOMETIMES watch it when eating dinner (specifically from hulu) I was never into it and i just thought it was something to watch while eating food.

When the movie got announced in 2017 i remember being excited for it? i vaugely remember saying how cool it is and how i loved the artstyle. And how i would LOVE to watch it when it comes out. I never really thought of anything else of it, i just thought itd be fun to watch with someone. It took like until 2020 to FINALLY watch it. The only reason i watched it was because according to my uncle it was pretty good (and my brother as well) I wouldnt even bothered watching the movie if it wasnt because my uncle was watching it with me.

When watching it i didnt recognize some characters... Its actually funny, i didnt even know who minimoose was and I was so confused who he was when watching the movie since i didnt recognize him from the show ( appenretly i only watched a few episodes of the first season?) But then again that didnt bother me at all, i just though it was a movie to watch with someone.

I Thought the movie was...whatever? it was a cool movie to watch with someone and i didnt really think anything else from it. The only reason I actually bothered looking at the invader zim fandom was because zadr.

When watching the movie i would always joke about ZIM X DIB!!!! WOWWWW THEY R MARRIED!!!! (sad i know) and (SADLY) after the movie finished i looked up zim x dib amv and videos to watch with my uncle and would laugh about it. I cant rmemeber any of the amv's i watched but i do rmember an inimoose drawing being in one of them and clearly rmember my uncle saying "why is he so tall????" <<talking about dib; specifically the one where zim is being pinned by dib from a locker<< and i just remember thinking the art being weird since dib looked like an anime boy. I would also look up other "zim x dib" stuff becuase i just wanted to be "cringy" with my uncle since i thought that was really funny. (spoilers: it wasn't)

when looking up amvs i was really confused about what the ship name was. I would always think "what is the ship name spelled???? it cant be zib or dim" that had actually kept me up at night until i looked it up a day or two after watching the movie. i just remember it finding out it was called "zadr" and literally the first thing i did with that information was look it up on tumblr.

On 2020 November 1st (or 2nd?) the fire nation attacked. When seeing it in the tags i was SO surprised by how many posts their were in the tags. i actually ended up scrolling for like. 30 minutes. after scrolling all i thought was "wowww this ship is actually pretty cool :)" And the first thing i reblogged that was invader zim was art by coconut...something? im so sorry i forgot their name. (it was also zadr)

The second one i ever reblogged was by bamsara, that fireworks comic. i thought it was SO CUTE and they where actually the first invader zim artist i actually followed. After finding about that comic and his other art from the zadr tags i was really interested in his au! So i actually looked up zadr in their blogged and was basically bombarded with a BUNCH of content. So in like one day, i learned about ALOT of their au and i loved it alot honestly. After a few days i actually read their fanfic and binged the whole series up to that day and i loved it SO MUCH; its so good.

It was actually because of bamsara i read and even like zadr or invader zim, im really thankful for his content :) I would just. stalk the zadr tags on tumblr and after reading bamsara series i started reading fanfictions from ao3. Actually aside from bamsara one of the first fanfics i read was from hamletmustdie because that comic someone made comic of their prom fic. (found out about it from stalking the tags, or if bamsara reblogged it? i dont remember)

Then after reading hamletmustdie's fic i binge read all their zadr fics as well.... i love reading them- they honestly inspire me greatly for even writing.

Because of hamletmustdie and bamsara i kind of just im the fandom i guess? And becuase of their works in the fandom i kind of know about things. I still dont really know anything about the comics and the show, but i have been VERY VERY slowly watching it again (Originally i thought zib was some fan chatacter). I find the comedy pretty funny now and i think i would now actually enjoy the movie :)

hahaah sorry for rambling!!! im glad you enjoy my fic :D im nearly done with the second chapter!!! It means alot to me that people look forward to see what would happen; i still feel very nervous about writing since this was my first experience ever- but none the less im glad people enjoy it :)

TD;LR - i thought the movie was pretty alright? its not really like i didnt enjoy it but more like the fandom was the one that kind of made my brain rot instead of the movie.(in summary its all zadr's fault)
