Buraya uzun zamandır okuduğum kitapların yorumlarını yazmamışım. Zaten sık okuyamıyorum diye yazmayı saldığımı hatırlıyorum. Neredeyse 1.5 senelik birikmişle geldim. O kadar zaman geçmesine rağmen sadece altı kitap bitirebilmişim. Kendimi zorlamayı bıraktım. Bunun dikkat dağınıklığı ve hayat telaşıyla ilgili olduğunu biliyorum. Son bitirdiğim kitap Çalınan Dikkat bu konuda yarama merhem oldu resmen. Kitapları hatırladığım kadarıyla yazayım bakalım neler kalmış…

Görünmez Kentler

Calvino ile Bir Kış Gecesi Eğer Bir Yolcu kitabıyla tanışmıştım. Okuyucuyla samimiyeti; kurgusunu dantel gibi ya da bir örümcek ağı gibi işlemesi hoşuma gitmişti. Bir Calvino kitabı okurken hep dinç kalmalısınız yoksa tadı çıkmaz. Madem "Bir Kış Gecesi Eğer Bir Yolcu"yu bu kadar sevdim, Calvino’nun bir kitabını daha okumalıydım. Görünmez Kentler’e de yolum böyle düştü.

Kitaba dair hatırladıklarım, üzerinden geçen aylardan sonra biraz az. Birçok farklı hayali kente gittiğimizi, orayı yazılı satırlarda canlandırdığımızı hatırlıyorum. Kentlerin karakterleri ve içinde yaşayan insanların değerleri arasında bağlar kuruluyordu. Pek çok açıdan ilham vericiydi. Döne döne okunsa lezzetlenir eminim. Kitapla ilgili bir araştırma yaptığımda bu kitabı konu alan bir mimarlık makalesi gördüm. Ki işte gayet de etkisinin görülebileceği bir alan. Bu dünyanın şehirlerinden uzaklaşıp biraz hayal perdemizde yaşayabileceğimiz kentlere dalalım dersek Görünmez Kentler tam bunun için yazılmış.

Baharda Yine Geliriz

Bu kitap benim Barış Bıçakçı’yla tanışma kitabım. Zaman içinde diğer kitaplarını okuma isteği uyandırdı bende. İçinde kısa öykülerin bulunduğu, sakince derdini döken bir kitap. Ben öykü okumayı seviyorum ne olursa olsun. Sait Faik, Sine Ergün, Cemil Kavukçu, Ferit Edgü… Aklıma ilk gelenler. Bende yeri olanlar. Barış Bıçakçı da bunların arasına girdi. İşe Yarar Bir Şey filmini izlediğimde hissetmiştim bu öykü sayfalarını diyebilirim. Öyküler anlatılmaz, okunur. Ve ben okumaya devam edeceğim.

Bilinç Nehri

Aklımda en zor kalan kitaplardan biri bu kitap maalesef. İnce olması akıp gideceğini düşündürse hiç öyle olmadı. Çok uzun sürede bitirebildim. Belki de doğru zaman değildi. Aslında ilgilendiğim alana ve bilime dair ufuk açıcı olabilecek bir kitaptı. Bir başka zaman bir daha buluşmak üzere!

Aşkın Celladı

Öncelikle içeriği böylesine değerli olan bir kitabın New York Times Bestseller kitapları gibi bir isme sahip olmasını kınıyorum. Birçok insan için temel bir psikoloji kitabı olarak değerlendiriliyor. Kitabı okurken sık sık Kırmızı Oda aklıma geldi :) Zaten dizi de buna benzer bir kitabın çıktısıydı.

Aşkın Celladı’nda yanlış hatırlamıyorsam 12 psikoterapi öyküsü var. Okurken hem danışan hem de psikoloğun penceresinden olayları görmek hoşuma gitmişti. Bazı öykülerden kendime not ettiklerim de oldu. Ancak abartılacak da bir yanı yok bence kitabın. Beni, İnsanın Anlam Arayışı daha fazla etkilemişti. Bence bu kitap kullanım yerine göre değerli. Bir psikoloji öğrencisi filan olsam baya ders niteliğinde, üstüne konuşularak ilerlenebilecek şeyler olabilir. Sade bir vatandaş olarak okuması keyifli ve katkısı olan bir kitaptı yorumunu bırakıp zihnimin derinliklerine yolluyorum.

Bizim Büyük Çaresizliğimiz

Bakınız şu geçen dönemde ikinci Barış Bıçakçı kitabı. Bu sefer bir romanını okuyayım dedim. Bitmesin diye de yavaş yavaş okudum. Filmi yapılacak bir kitapmış gerçekten. Keşke Mubi’den kalkmadan filmini de izleseydim. Hikayeyi uzun uzun anlatmayacağım. Anlatım dili ve bunun birinci kişiden olması hoştu. Hikaye dair, kocaman iki yakın arkadaş olan adamların bir diğer arkadaşlarının çıtır kız kardeşine aşık olması sığlığında bakarsak… Pek olmaz. Zaman zaman ben ne okudum ya diye düşündüm. Bunu düşündüğüm zamanlar kitaptan uzakta kaldığım zamanlardı. Çünkü okurken hikaye öyle içine alıyor ki okuyucuyu, sadece anlatılanı merak ediyorsunuz. Anlatılan her şey sahne sahne önünde. O yüzden kitabın filminin olması ve aynı yazardan İşe Yarar Bir Şey’in çıkması hiç tesadüf değil. Okumuyor aynı zamanda izliyorsunuz. Filminin kitabı kadar başarılı olmadığı dense de ben şans vermeyi düşünüyorum.

Yesterday was quite a special day here in the Seven Hills, I picked up this Solton Programmer 24s Synthesizer slated for a full restoration. This beast is also known by its loving nickname “Italio Disco Machine” for its unique and genre specific sound. This unit is giving mixed errors on startup, but our technicians and myself are confident that she will sing again! Unfortunately we have some other smaller jobs lined up first so this unit will have to wait. We are looking forward to it! :D Check back to see more of the restoration process when the time comes.

It's been a long LONG time since I've done updated art of this man on any platform.

Drake Edward Morrison III (the third)

A once mortal immortal touched by the last spark of essence of an ancient god of death. The man that started the creation of an entire universe in my brain, all from creating OCs with my high school best friend Winna in 11th grade.

Born to a noble family of recognized knights in the equivalent of earth year 506, he is now over 1500 years old and lives in modern era Talain, a clean energy, magitech run, green super city of about 15 million people. He has a handful of partners and is currently raising one high energy 8 year old with his girlfriends.

He's old money, having accumulated wealth over his long ass life, and keeping up with ever changing societies and economies...for the most part. There were times where he fucked off into the wilderness to hermit for a couple decades here and there. But currently, he's returned to his ancestral home, built over the old castle ruins with a modern but rustic 12 bedroom, 14 bathroom, 2 kitchen, indoor pool, and a large study home with several other people and a feral cat colony that roams the 150 or so acres of forest and brook covered lands around it.

He's typically seen as being very grumpy and stoic, intimidating to most people. But to those who actually know him to his core, he's incredibly kind and caring and loves to care for children especially. Very dad vibes. He's also well trained in many types of martial arts and use of very many types of weapons. He speaks at least 12 languages, probably more, and is technically the strongest man alive, physically.

He has mastery over fire magic and was gifted power over shadow and death magic upon becoming immortal. Technically, he's an elf. Raised in a mixed culture house, the Earth equivalent being Italio-Spaniard (father's side) and Indio-Moroccan (mother's side). He was closer to his mother than his father, and had two younger siblings; his brother Khalid and sister Refugia.

Some fun facts:

- While the god his power comes from is based on a raven, Drake's wings are that of a barn owl

-- he therefore flies completely silently, but also fairly slowly compared to most others.

- His favorite food of all time is blueberries. If you ever want to get on his good side or attempt to bribe him, bring a blueberry cheesecake (or something of that nature)

- He's a very meat and potatoes kind of guy, simple comfort foods and a lot of it.

- He's recently (as in the past couple decades) replaced his alcoholism with meditation and playing with his kids. Even so, he still likes a social drink here and there.

- He grew up learning from his mother's spiritual practices, the Earth equivalent being Islam. While he doesn't actively practice anymore, he does observe on his mother's birthday and occasionally some holidays.

- He actually loves to sing and dance, they are his art forms. His favorite music to dance to is swing.

- He manscapes. He's actually a very hairy man, but he prefers to be mostly hairless and neat. Occasionally he's okay with letting it grow out, but not often.
