There's so much negativity around Izzy's death so I wanted to address some of the points I keep seeing thrown around.

"Izzy's death was pointless"

No, he just had his big speech about how basically they can kill him but they cannot kill the movement. That is a clear paraller to a lot of real life protestors of unjustice. He died protecting the community, he died so the community could go on.

"Izzy's death made his healing pointless"

No it didn't. Healing is always good, feeling happiness and belonging are ALWAYS worth it. We never know how long we've got, doesn't mean we gotta stop trying to be better or happier. His healing was still real. It still mattered.

"Izzy's character arc was left unfinished, it's bad writing"

Oh my god. If you open any writing guide about how to write impactful deaths, and the first thing that comes up is to leave some part of their arc unfinished. And his arc did go through quite a beautiful line, sure there could've been more but his story didn't end like, mid arc. As a writer, of course you want to make the audience sad when a character dies. It's good storytelling. Good stories are supposed to make us feel.

"Izzy died on the arms of his abuser"

Where the hell did this idea come from? Ed and Izzy have been in a toxic codependent relationship way before this show started. You could argue that Izzy was Ed's abuser, but that is not the argument I want to make here. Yes, we saw Ed driven to madness shoot Izzy on screen, but we know Izzy's the one that forced him to be Blackbeart when he didn't want it anymore. There's turmoil all around them. But the final moment is them finally meeting as people, not as components of Blackbeard.

"Izzy's death was unnecessarily awful"

His death was sad, yes, but it was quite beautiful as far as deaths go. He was surrounded by family who cared for him. He was loved, and accepted as he is. He knew his legacy will be carried on.

"They killed off the only character that showed us healing is never too late"

Did we watch the same show? That begins with then unhappy 40+ year old Stede deciding it's finally time to reach for his dreams? Where we see Blackbeard slowly gaining back his humanity? Where Black Pete starts off as toxically masculine dude but ends up in a soft gay marriage? Where most of the crew wanted to mutiny but then they realized being soft is good, actually. Jim's whole purpose in life being revenge but them learning to let that go and instead concentrate on love and fun and family. And so on. Izzy's arc is beautiful, but he's not the only person healing who thought it was too late already.

"Izzy's death was bury your gays trope"

No, what, no. In a pirate show where everyobody is queer some queer people will die. Bury your gays is about only having one or few queer characters and killing them off while the straights get their happily ever afters. This is so far from that.

Also, I want people to be aware of the phenomenon, where creators of diverse shows are subjected to more critism than those of non diverse shows. If this intrests you, Sarah Z on Youtube made a great video on it called Double standards and diverse media. Our flag means death has given us so much, queer love story with a happily ever after, finding community, nonbinary character. And the creators have always been so kind to fans, so let's show them tht kindness back. Because critizicing this one aspect can easily turn to seeming like the whole story is just unwanted. That stories like Ed and Stede's aren't worth telling. And I'm so aftraid that will happen, when just now for the first time in years we are finally getting queer stories.

Also, I understand people are sad. I am sad too - Izzy was an amazing character and his death was sad but that's just. Good writing. You can grieve, but trying to turn it into a moral or dramaturgy issue is just not a good look. And attacking the creators of this wonderful show is just horrible.

Remember - this fandom is a safe space ship 🏴‍☠️🏳️‍🌈

The realization that despite everything, Loop 100 ended effectively the same way it was always going to

Fuuko killed in a surprise attack by an unseen foe

Rip and Latla dead and unable to make it to the next world to save Leila

Andy's personality receding and giving way to Victor

Victor standing over Juiz's corpse as Ragnarok envelopes the Earth

These things were always going to happen, and no amount of interference could have changed them

However, despite the immediate outcome being the same, the context and consequence of those events completely changed

The delay of Fuuko's death gave time for the addition of Ghost, allowing her soul to be retrieved and her body revived

The chance for her revival allowed Andy to retain his personality, and he only let Victor take control as a favor to him rather than being subsumed

Because Andy retained control, he was able to gain Rip and Latla's trust, and he was able to inherit their will to save Leila

Juiz's death allowed Victor to see the end of her suffering, while also giving him closure as to the nature of his feelings for her, reviving his hope for her future in the next loop

Juiz's reincarnation allowed her to experience a normal, happy life as Julia, one where she was able to make the choice to fight for her beliefs rather than bearing the constant weight of responsibility that she had for eons, in turn allowing her a new perspective that will surely bring about new growth in Unjustice

If the events of Loop 100 that Akira saw were inevitable, a Rule that could not be broken, then just like any other Rule, all that was needed was to look at it from a different angle and expand beyond its limitations

Scrolling back through my previous reviews, that's Rip's seat right now.

And here it is- official confirmation that Sick was an open quest.

The thing is, Fuuko's the only one here with a seat. So unless two members come along and do a Point Transfer, nobody else can attack Beast.

These are some good shots.

Beast hasn't gotten panels as hard as Sick, but I prefer his personality.

Oh, fuck yeah.

Who are the Points going to, though?

The information this chapter is providing is actually nutty. Hints towards Unjustice's condition, reference to why there's so few Negators...

I hope that in the anime, we get splash arts of the Negators and Umas, instead of a cavalcade of flashbacks.

Oh, he transforms, that's cool. Going back to a discussion about fighting games I had a while back, Beast seems to have a hell of a moveset.

Why the fuck did you bring Julia back here

I think I officially prefer this to Sick. That arc had too many people, most of whom were just there to get jobbed. So many people did nothing, and people like Chikara, Isshin, and Yusai were just used by Andy to fuck over Sick. By contrast, this arc keeps a close focus, allowing all the quest members to pull their weight.

I hope in the anime, we get a quick cut of the points changing the order of the table. Maybe with a sound like the Yugioh number sound.

I'll be rating by personality, how are they written, and my personal opinion

Percy Jackson: 6/10

-Harry Potter premium

- He's that type of overpowered mc that's dumb as shit and only gets serious 3 times in entier serie to defeat villain

- When we're already talking bout Harry, really like how Percy didn't let bullyinh and shi slide unlike Harry, very nice

Annabeth Chase: 8/10

- I ABSOLUTELY love how hor traumas are written, perfect.

- Very realisticly crush. Went from brother figure to romantic feelings, heeps thinking there's good in him. She was just a kid, you can't blame her.

- her demidog power: smart

Thalia grace: 6/10

- didn't got much if her character

- I didn't like how at first she was "I know Luke he would never" and then throw him of cliff in the end

Undead Unluck Theory

Feng’s Character Arc isn’t over - Possible Unfade Evolution

I’ve been thinking about this theory for a while and with chapter 191 partly confirming something for me I think it’s time to write it down.

Basically: Start Investing in Feng Kowloon stocks.

Major Spoiler Warning all the way up to chapter 191 of the manga.

This theory initially spawned after chapter 177 came out. More specifically, it spawned from the spread panel that showcased the current union members (minus Chikara, Sean, and Yusai who were shown to be in the operating room with Latla and Rip).

Here it was shown that Feng was not with the other union members. Earlier it was hinted that he didn’t join because he wasn’t with them when the group time skipped from 1999 to 2015.

At the time I had suspected that Feng simply hadn’t time traveled with everyone else and had used those 15 years to train (taking advantage of Unfade) and might’ve rejoined later, but no, turns out he hasn’t joined the Union at all.

Which made me ask this: why didn’t Feng join the union? It would’ve been easy for Tozuka to write a little panel or two where Fuuko could’ve said, “ok sorry I lied to you, I promise this time we’ll fight monsters this time though” and Feng could’ve begrudgingly agreed to join at that point.

The thing with Undead Unluck is that Tozuka has a habit of constantly setting up minor plot details and then giving them major payoffs later on. It’s one of the best parts of the manga’s writing in my opinion. So I believe Feng not joining the union at this point of time was a very deliberate writing choice on the author's part.

So with that in mind, let’s get started.

Current Quest Rounds

Currently, there are four quests active.

Let’s take out “Capture of UMA Burn”. It's not relevant for this theory. What matters for this theory are the quests for Language, Beast, and Summer.

Language and Beast have relevance because of their rewards. Four extra seats added to the round table means four negators can participate on quests. But that’s all they can offer for this topic.

Summer, on the other hand, is extremely important. Because in loop 100, Summer was the exact quest Feng got his formal debut in.

My prediction is that in a direct parallel to loop 100, the 101 version of the Summer quest is where we’re going to get reintroduced to Feng, and probably get told that he’s been up to for the last fifteen or so years.

What follows is that one of the union members will tell Feng about the Sick fight, to which he will be extremely disappointed to have missed out on. It’s at this point that upon learning there’s more of these extremely strong UMAs that he’ll go, “Fine, you win Fuuko Izumo, I’ll join your Union.”

My guess is that, assuming that Fuuko successfully recruits the five negators Andy led her to, the open seats will go as following:

- Feng

- Top

- Tatiana

- Latla/Julia

This is because the first three are more suited to go straight into combat roles. As for Latla and Julia, I think the last seat could go to either one of them. It depends on whether Julia manifests Unjustice during this quest period but if she doesn’t, Latla can now fight directly due to being equipped with one half of Blade Runner.

This would leave Ichico, Nico, Kururu, Haruka, Bunny and Julia/Latla (aka the one who didn’t get the seat) as support members until new seats are rewarded.

It’s extremely important to note that at this point Feng isn’t part of the Union because he cares about protecting people or saving the world. Despite him acknowledging Shen as his son, Feng still prioritizes his quest of being the strongest more.

Unfade Intermission (AKA Billy Would Kick Feng's Ass if they fought Right Now)

This is where I talk about my thoughts of Unfade because this is where it would flow best.

(I am also going to put a quick disclaimer that this isn’t an invitation for power scaling arguments as they don’t have any relevance here.)

Anyway, Unfade, Feng’s negation ability. In Feng’s character bio in the volume 8 extras Unfade is described as a self-targeting compulsory activation type. “An ability that Negates aging after activation.”

… aaaand that’s all Unfade can do, really.

In fact, Unfade stands out from other negation powers because from what we’ve been shown it has no viability in combat. I think the only negation that shares this trait is Unsleep. The reason Feng is such a threatening person has to do almost entirely with his years of cultivating his skills as a martial artist (granted, having an ageless, unfading body which is forever at peak condition probably does help a lot but I digress). It’s worth noting that if Unfade had been given to almost any other person, they wouldn’t nearly be as dangerous as Feng is.

It is my belief that within the current negators, you take out their powers and make them fight purely hand to hand as normal humans? Feng comes out the strongest, if not pretty damn close to it.

However, the second that negation powers are added into the fray, Feng would lose his title as the strongest, and he would lose that title very quickly. In a negator fight with, say, Billy, he wipes the floor with Feng, easily. Feng having no idea how negator powers work is how Fuuko was able to keep him in check for so long in loop 101.

In UU, negation powers don’t get stronger via traditional training. In order to level up, the negator in question has to expand their interpretation of their powers.

By expanding their interpretation, this typically leads to the negator having a journey of self discovery about themselves. Inherently due to this system, a lot of times this means that negators evolving their powers tend to be directly tied into character development. It’s a neat system! One of my favorite power systems in SJ because of how naturally it ties together with the narrative.

But for Feng? This is the literal worst thing for him. Because even though he’s a legendary martial artist, Feng has a terrible understanding of people. He’s the least emotionally intelligent person among the negators, and it’s not even close. Shen, who was raised by Feng for around twenty years, notes that Feng’s unending pursuit of strength hasn’t brought him any sense of fulfillment and that Feng himself isn’t even self aware of that fact.

Feng didn’t even realize he even had a negation tragedy until 150 years after his ability manifested. Even then, Shen (who, for the record, only found out about negations like… 15 minutes prior), had to spell it out to Feng.

Throughout loops 100 and 101, we’ve seen how differently negation abilities can evolve. Negation abilities so far have tend to have fallen in three ways:

It has direct ties into character development and how they evolve as people (Unluck, Unchange, Unseen)

It has manifested differently due to the wildly different circumstances between loops (Unfair)

The negator have found ways to work around what would be entirely detrimental abilities to make them useable to get through day to day life (Unsleep, Untell)

The idea that Unfade has never evolved since manifestation ties pretty well with how stagnant Feng has been as a person throughout most of his life. In fact, while the circumstances of manifestation are different, Feng 100 getting UF as an old man vs Feng 101 getting UF when he was around his twenties, the ability itself hasn’t changed at all. Which definitely isn’t unique but it is worth noting, I feel.

Master Rule VII

Remember at the beginning of this post that stated chapter 191 partly confirmed something to me? Yeah that’s relevant now. This was the big clincher that inspired me to write this giant theory.

Right now we don’t know exactly what Master Rule VII represents exactly (it’s possible “Time Defense” is just an attack name just like how Andy uses “Crimson Bullet"), however he is absolutely heavily time based if not outright time. My top prediction for him is that he’s UMA Time or Fade. (For simplicity’s sake, this theory will use “VII” when it comes to referring to him.)

Anyway, assuming that we’re going in order of counting down, then naturally VII is next in the line up. Feng's first round as a union member means he’s conveniently part of the quest period where, chances are, he might be a hard counter to the UMA that represents time in some capacity, as Unfade negates the passage of time affecting his body. Everyone in the Roundtable comes to this conclusion as well and thus Feng is signed up for the quest for the neutralization of VII. In this scenario, Shen would also be one of the negators in this quest, this is going to be extremely important.

However as the actual fight begins, Feng turns out to not be a perfect counter to VII for one reason or another. This fight would end up being a struggle for everyone involved because VII would presumably use his time abilities to avoid hits and disorient everyone by time lagging them like how he did to Andy in 191.

During this fight, Shen is going to be in danger, and possibly get hit with a fatal injury before he can even react. Feng, witnessing this, is going to have one thought in his head, “Shen is going to die.” “My son is about to die.”

And at that moment Feng recalls what Fuuko believes the meaning of being the strongest:

“Those who care for others with an unwavering heart have always been the strongest people around.”

And Feng, after decades of not knowing what she meant, finally realizes what Fuuko was trying to tell him. And this, in turn, causes Unfade to evolve.

Interestingly, Feng back in loop 100 is stated to figure out how souls worked, but this hasn’t come up since.

And I think this would be a great opportunity to fire that Chekhov’s Gun, because my friend (who also reads the manga) gave a really cool possibility on how Unfade could evolve into a combat viable ability by combining the idea of Feng mastering using his soul in combat. The basic idea follows that by unleashing his soul in his impacts he would be able to make strikes that don’t fade away. Tying into the idea of how he only unlocks Unfade’s true potential when he opens himself up to the more metaphorical version of “the impact he has on others” and vice versa.

(Of course this is just one idea of how Unfade could evolve, I just really like this idea because it ties with UU’s constant video game analogies, with Unfade’s evolution being akin to a damage multiplier like when you get a really good combo in a fighting game. Basically Tozuka would acknowledge Feng’s a giant Tekken reference).

I know that negation abilities are classified with external or self targeting, but Sean alone proves that if you bend the rules enough, you can get away with not following those classifications to the letter.

Either way, this upgrade leads Feng to turn the tides against VII and complete the quest in a way that leads to the Union getting away without casualties. Maybe as a bonus we get Feng making a Shen-esq joke (like "Your rules are outdated, you old coot" or smth) to tie how much influence both of them have had on each other. Also ideally Feng stops having the emotional intelligence of a goldfish and trying to fight Fuuko at a drop of a hat but that might be asking for too much, honestly.

After the fight Feng would finally drop his tsundere bullshit and admits out loud (and to himself) that yes, he cares for Mei and Shen not just because they’re his disciples but because he genuinely loves them as family.

This would also be the point he’s marked as a true member of the Union because he now wants to protect his family.

Undead Unluck Chapter 199 Spoilers!!

I can't tell who's the first one, can anyone tell me their guesses?

Juiz using Unjustice because all War is about hurting others so he's hurting himself!! She really said "if you wanna kill so bad then kill yourself".

SHORT HAIRED JUIZ YIPPEEE fighting Justice no less. No wonder she decided on duelling and nothing else.

Omg full mask Juiz 😳😳 stabbing Sick right in the chest lol. That explains why he was so arrogant in the Sick Arc, he's facing a new opponent.

Once again with the whole "Soul sees humans as equals instead of lesser beings". But that might explain why he's the first seat outside of being the eldest daughter, he's smarter than the rest.

So while Luna and Soul were having a chat, Top was having a soul meetup before dragging Beast around the Earth several times.

But hmm... "Bunch of athletes I respected"... Could it be they gain Unstoppable only after becoming professional athletes? They probably had to give up their passion for the sake of not hurting others under the guise of retiring early :((

Fuuko is either predictable or Soul is just too insightful. Either way, I love these double panels.

Oh damn at least there's a cooldown, unless that she's attacking them while they have this debuff. That would be so sick, like they have to rely on fighting without an important aspect - communication - as well as fight against the clock. Man, I'm so hyped!!

Looks like she went beyond simple astral projection if she's this much of a threat to them...

I like to think the reason is actually more petty in the loop is because Nico defeated her easily in a 1v1 match in the previous loop and she's so salty that she wants to kill his future wife and prevent Mico's conception as well as make him extra depressed Ghost Arc style

And we don't exactly know the extent of Lan's ability either... But seeing how a lab member is bleeding from the mouth and she's sitting on him so nonchalantly and Nico looks so wary... I'm excited to know

But I'll let you know that love has never ended well for Léa, having a onesided crush for years on the most pathetic man in Divinity's Reach, then being dumped by the literal commander, then having a onesided crush on his best friend. Maybe they've kinda given up by now. She's a contract killer nowadays, and quite lonely. They haven't seen their friends/ex guild members in a long time, and the only person he's been around in the past, what, four years, was her mentor. And that mentor isn't the best company, to be honest.

Prima Glittergore pronouns: she/her sexuality: asexual lesbian age: 29 preferences: strong, tall, sexy. about her: Prima technically was a head pact engineer, except that people didn't really listen to her as much as they should. Her work was often seen as over the top and not as practical- and to be clear, her inventions ARE very practical, but they're ALSO very stylish, and it's not her fault you're scared by a little bit of glitter. She's an incredible engineer with a love for pink, ribbons, rainbows and blood.

Wrennih "Wren" pronouns: he/him sexuality: lesbian age: 32 preferences: Wren would probbaly prefer to be with other asura, but aside from that he doesn't care a lot. about him: Wren used to be Inquest, but he doesn't talk about that a lot- they just happened to be the only one's to fund his fascination with time and space. he left after breaking up with his then girlfriend and decided to redeem himself by joining the pact during the fight against mordremoth. he still feels the need to help tyria in any way he can, though he does kind of miss the chances he had with the inquest and the research he was able to do there.

Nagisa Shadowshot pronouns: they/them sexuality: asexual lesbian age: 33 preferences: someone a little calmer and more responsible, to balance out their mess of a brother, but also someone thats willing to take the first step and apporach them about them: Formerly a shrine maiden near the harvest tample, Nagisa now travels cantha and beyond with Byungjoon. theyre swift, smart and deadly. Shadows surround them, certainly more than their own one. Thyr're hesitant to talk to new people and prefer to keep to themselves.

Cynorion "Cyno" pronouns: he/him sexuality: bisexual age: 30 preferences: someone that can ground him, that he can relax around. someone that is able to rest, someone that isn't chasing a big goal about him: Cyno is a Secondborn and has taken on many different roles in his life. he's been a mender, a guide to the newly awakened, has tried to be a healer, a warden- in the end, nothing he does ever feels right. he feels like he doesnt belong, doesnt have a purpose, the grove isnt his home, but neither is any other place in tyria. he really just wishes he could sit down with his animal companions and play his lute forever, somewhere in nowhere.

Liang Haoyu pronouns: he/him sexuality: gay age: "25" preferences: a cultured person that appreciates good music and fashion and art, and maaaybe someone who doesnt mind blood and murder and being tenderly bitten about him: Haoyu is a diva, he's dramatic, he's artistic, he's an instrument maker and quite the performer. he has mastered nearly every instrument there is and once was, probably because he's had a lot of time on his hands to do so, having been "alive" since long before the jade winds destroyed his home. he's seen his friends and lovers come and go, come and go, come and go, and he's gotten used to it, but that doesnt mean that if he makes a connection, it's any less meaningful to him.

I have to say, however bad it gets looking at a Holiday Special list of titles and characters, DC's almost always got SOMETHING there that makes me say "yeah boi!"

For DC's Very Merry Multiverse #1 (2020), it's the fact there's a PREZ RICKARD story.

I know. All things for all folks, people. Hopefully something else catches me as I go. I'm not actually across a lot of the most recent multiverse shenanigans but let's go.

It's a Horrible Life! - Harley Quinn. It's a Wonderful Life retelling for Harley, hopping between universes.

Christmas by Gaslight - Batman. Batman is chasing Eel O'Brien (who just stole a load of toys) and Mr Freeze (who is TRYING to steal the load of toys) and Eel accidentally blows up Victor, causing it to snow across Gotham (and drop toys in the street for all the children of the city).

To Stop the Star-Conqueress! - Teen Justice. I...don't really care about this genderswapped universe, but the concept of Klarienne the Witch Girl keeps making me giggle. Klarienne. KLARIENNE. Anyway the Teen Justice team defeat Starrla doing the space starfish thing. (Also this is VERY mixed up in terms of timeline. How are 'Donald Troy' and 'Laurel Kent' reasonably on the same team? They're based on characters 3 hero generations apart!)

Bizarro Love Holiday - President Superman. This is about the made up holiday "Day of Giving/Day of Receiving", which Bizarro hates as nobody has ever given him a present before. A cute small child decides his characteristic speech patterns are sarcasm and gives him his first present.

Holidays Beyond - Batman Beyond. Terry gets zapped/hallucinates with the bends and does a *sigh* Christmas Carol three ghosts of past, present and future. Dustin Nguyen's baby Bruce is the most adorable thing ever.

Night of the Magi - The League of Shadows. So the League of Shadows is basically a Justice League Dark/Shadowpact lineup? They're out to defend Saturnalia from the Lord of Misrule. Also there's a Ragman origin story in here.

Have Yourself a Bizarro Little Christmas - The Unjustice League of Unamerica. It's SANTA TIME!

Bizarro is trying out Christmas gift giving in Bizarro World but it's not working too well. Then Zanta of the Intergalactic Santa Corps arrives! Zanta is charged with spreading the joy of Christmas...whether people like it or not.

(BTW these elves really need the Elves Union, time to unionise little buddies)

Only, it being Bizarro World, he fails. Sorry, Zanta.

'Twas the Night - Booster Gold. Booster fights Maxwell Lord at his Planet Krypton restaurant (we find out that this was a staged fight to entertain the diners).

Prez Rickard's Magical Sci-Fi Desolate Souls Club Holiday Special - Prez. I'm quietly devastated Beth Ross doesn't appear in this.

Hmmm. I'm...not thrilled at the way Prez is used here in Earth 47? Now being an aficionado of Prez lore, I am able to say that Prez out there selling things on a TV show via performing acts doesn't gel with the original Prez run (where he was all too earnest about solving problems), what I'm going to call the Vertigo Prez universe (where he left the White House and disappeared and became sort of a totem to people), or to the New 52 Prez run (where after being President he became a senator for years/hung around lobbying Congress).

It feels like it's trying to be 70s zany without engaging with ANY of the existing Prez lore. Disappointing.

A Very Lobo Hanukkah - Lobo. Been a while since we had a Lobo story. Lobo's saving the dolphins!

Having now read several decades of 'DC does a Hanukkah story' in the last week, they've definitely evolved over time from 'look at this very base level explanation where we acknowledge not everyone is Christian' to this, which from my understanding is both engaging with traditional texts AND also running around gleefully with an attitude of 'we are allowed to adapt things and tell more complex narratives'. (However I am unsure of whether anyone stopped to think before using the KJV translation of Maccabees here)

Ch 55: Use Your Rules

Oh fun! An old-fashioned human+monster 2-on-2!

I'm not sure what this kind of mixed-doubles fight genre is called, but it's different than regular summoning where the humans just sit back and watch--Otherwise I would've filled this page with tokusatsu gifs like I really wanted to

The chapter title "Use Your Rules" already reminded me of this meme and then Tozuka had to go and give Spoil that face, so this happened...

Poor Spoil. He's really going through it!

Juiz tells him that even if she eliminated him, another rule would compensate for his loss. That's an interesting idea in UU and it explains why they had a concept of "years" even though they didn't have Revolution in place.

The idea that the world will "fill in the gaps" if a rule goes missing raises the question of what is considered a necessary or sufficient aspect of the world. In Ch 14, Spoil claimed to be a necessary rule ⬇️

Maybe he just has an inflated ego and he's not actually necessary. Or is Juiz just bluffing when she says that he's replaceable? He might just be jabbering, though. He was in a very different situation when he was bragging to Fuuko!

Wow, Juiz is scary!

She immediately informs him that he's at a disadvantage-- it's crazy how many steps ahead she's already planned for. She knew Billy's plan, his goal, his weapon, etc, and she knew how their Pokemon would match up.

Spoil's such a brat! I love him! He's not even looking at Burn when he shoots; he's looking at Juiz because he's about to say, "See? I told you!"

But he gets socked in the jaw by Burn instead.

Poor lil feller

Billy tells Tella to stay back and that he'll handle the situation. Is he really planning to kill Juiz?!

It looks like Billy might be thinking the same thing Tella's saying.

Juiz's focus and speed with her saber is ridiculous!

My love for Mihawk knows no bounds, but Juiz did that with a smaller sword and at a shorter distance, j/s. Then again, he's lazy and she's a go-getter, so it makes sense.

I love the layout on the next page.

Unfortunately, that's kind of true for Juiz as far as Union leadership, as well. Because Juiz is so honest to her own sense of right and wrong, her actions can be predictable.

She uses Unjustice on Burn, who GRRR?s back at her. Can Burn not speak at all?

Acting against his sense of Justice, Burn blocks Billy's bullet from hitting Juiz, revealing that Burn really is on Billy's side, and not just a hostage. Spoil can't resist trolling.

"Mr. Stubble!" I'm glad someone acknowledged it! Billy's been out here in the wild for a while now...

What's the favor that Burn is paying back to Billy?

Concept-types seem to be more overarching and multifaceted compared to phenomenon-types. Winter has more going on than just being cold, for example.

Is this why Spoil has a chip on his shoulder? Does he have a bit of an inferiority complex caused by God's favoritism and phenomenon-types being snobby to him? Or maybe he's just kind of a SPOILed brat and so he likes to complain about others-- it won't be clearer until we meet more UMAs that show inter-UMA dynamics lol.

To illustrate his point, Burn shines a bright light into the sky. It seems the favor he owes Billy is that Billy has given him a chance to meet his "maker."

Interestingly, Spoil can understand Burn! I wonder if Billy also had a way to talk to Burn and negotiate their partnership. Could he have used a version of Tella's equipment to allow Burn to speak?

The "childhood memories" line cracks me up. It hadn't even occurred to me that UMA would have life stages.

Use your rules to make humans suffer? WTF, God? Because it seems like some of these rules could be used to help humans under the right circumstances, like Burn providing warmth or Clothy making clothes. So if there's a specific directive to be malicious about it, then it means that God really is only interested in making the humans miserable to force them to try to overcome their circumstances.

Billy assumed that Spoil was aiming at him, but the beam actually hit the ground. From the way Spoil thinks aloud, ("So I can start shooting once he uses Unstoppable, was that it?") it's obvious that Juiz has instructed him on what to do here, and he's surprisingly obedient.

Her plan worked, and Billy gets hit with the Spoil beam. Tella is AGHAST. Billy had told him he'd take care of everything, and Tella never doubted him. Even so, he doesn't rush forward to get involved--he stays back and follows orders.

We know that Billy can use Unjustice because he used it on Tatiana. So why won't he use it on Juiz? He claims that her mindset is predictable and easy to read, so it's probably safe to assume what her vision of justice is, yet he still doesn't try to negate it.

If Billy is holding back, it could be that he simply doesn't want to kill the person who has the most information about the way this world works. Juiz's tears are sincere, but Billy's still hiding something...

the rats can be ancient skyclan / old skyclan cats. some cats left with cloudstar's skyclan, leaving starclan. it was there that they watched over skyclan for many moons until finally, skyclan seperated.

when skyclan seperated the spirits themsevles disappeared, as there are no longer any cats to watch over / to believe in them. their rage at the downfall of skyclan and the other four clans manifested and they were reformed as those rats.

essentially, the rats were a manifestation of anger towards the unjustice, but as time grew longer and longer, the rage slowly manifested more and more until it blinded them, making them hostile to all cats, even ones with skyclan blood, and not just cats of the other four clans.

when leafstar started her leadership ceremony, the skyclan cats were freeded to return as starclan spirits, once again having a clan to watch over.

Hmmm... Something like that works well. Too many spirits left StarClan at once, so many cats died that the stories of the most obscure ancestors weren't passed on, a bunch of spirits were unable to fade away with any peace.

So each forgotten spirit, unable to move onto the next stage of existence, manifested as a rat.

I could even make them look like domestic rats too, their colors reflecting the cat that they once were instead of just being the classic horror movie black sewer rat. Really drive home that these things are strange and supernatural.

(Also to clarify; I'm fixing the ecology of the series in general! But any time in-canon there's a random talking animal that speaks without being spoken to, it is going to be a supernatural creature. That includes the telepathy rats.)

It makes sense why the rats showed up to attack SkyClan when they did. They were suffering ancestors lashing out at the remaining survivors, literally trying to 'latch onto' the living.

SkyClan scattering is them trying to avoid this curse, so that the rats can't find and overwhelm them all in one place.

I can also play it like, Leafdapple initially goes to get her lives and finds no one there. There's maybe just Cloudstar, or even Birdflight because she stayed behind and never became a rat at all!

Hmm... Maybe Cloudstar IS the rat leader.

Killing the rats isn't JUST self-defense, but freeing them from their earthbound forms so they can return to the sky and give Leafstar her lives.
