Honestly I think crocodile/dragon and crocodile/Doflamingo are only interesting when treated as failed relationships spinning off into increasingly petty grudges and instigations. A marine and a pirate falling in love with each other is already some starcrossed lovers kinda BS. But then it's like, a FORMER marine and pirate who is WORKING FOR THE GOVERNMENT. That's EXTRA JUICY, it adds layers to the starcrossed lovers shit, and I am not immune to it, it's FACINATING, like what was the dynamic here

But also we don't even know when Dragon left the marines and when he and Crocodile first met, so for all we know it could've been some real enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies shit AND THAT'S SO INTERESTING

(Also the mere concept that Dragon could've been chasing Crocodile around kinda like Smoker tried to chase Luffy, only for Crocodile to become a Shichibukai and Dragon having to give up because they're on the same side now (kinda). Like. That is so fucking funny. And then he leaves the Marines to start a revolution. Or just out of spite dshgjdgs)

Then there's the absolutely hysterical part where Crocodile is the meanest, most intimidating, standoff-ish asshole around. So the idea Dragon was fucking into that is INCREDIBLE. THIS MAN LIKES BEING BULLIED DFSHFKGHFGJHDS (It's possible Young Croc might've been less mean but it's funnier if he wasn't)

And yeah. Somehow. In complete secret. A romance blooms.

And then there's a baby.

And Crocodile transes his gender.

And there's a divorce.

And 17 years later Crocodile has commited dozens of unforgivable warcrimes that are almost exactly the kind of things Dragon wanted to stop the government from doing to begin with.

Mind you, I don't actually think there's coming back from that, this relationship was burned to the ground and the ashes blown away by wind, there is nothing left

But could you imagine if despite the anger and the hurt and the warcrimes they still somehow loved each other

#thats my honest reaction 😐#to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid #like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat #or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already #good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive #to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil #i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better #but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because #it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak #and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but #come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and #makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality #i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was #IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys'#and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall #AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think #plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS #a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason #im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your #audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small #thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small #its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers #i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang #anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and #rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz #netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub #no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same #ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me #i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing #yapping

FTWDs final season could have been so much better if it was revealed that Troy was running padre and controlling madison (as revenge) this whole time. He knew enough about nick and Alicia to make madison think padre knew who and where they were this whole time. And here are some other reasons how this storyline would make sense and be more interesting:

- Troy has a military background so him taking over and running a military base makes more sense than two teenagers building it up by themselves because all the adults died.

- taking and training up children to be solidiers also would make a little sense because of his own fucked up upbringing and the idea he has of the type of people who were made for this world. He would have probably had the same idea as shrike, that the kids stood a better chance at padre than with their “weak” parents. The mother of his child dying for being a good person and not getting to raise their daughter (who would not be named after his abuser) could have also played into this idea of the kids being separated from their good parents.

- shrikes radiation cure experiments: Troy ran walker bite experiments before, just to see how people would turn. So it would also make sense if the work we see shrike doing was something he approved of or an idea he himself came up with. As for shrike, it would make sense that she turned out this way if she’d spent years being mentored by someone like troy otto instead of becoming evil and stealing children just because her dad died.

- the scene where madison smashes the glass to expose “padre” would have been such a good and shocking reveal if it was Troy. Imagine Madison finding out that Troy is not only alive but had been the one running this the whole time!

There’s also a lot of other things I would have done differently for the other characters too and I would have liked Madison to have a little villain era and do some really fucked up shit as she tries to take down Troy and padre. How dark would Madison go? Would she survive with her humanity still intact?

I know I’m just talking into the void here because no one care about this shitshow but I just hate it when shows have a plot that could have been good, maybe even great but then completely miss the mark and fans come with better theories and ideas with minimal effort and thought.

#somewhere dave erickson is screaming (and relieved that at least frank dillane stayed away from the show lmao)#fear the walking dead #ftwd #madison clark #troy otto #i also would have had s7a focus on strand vs alicia but v differently with only alicia’s ending staying the same pretty much #then 7b would have been wrapping things up with morgans family and actually seeing the group being taken by padre before having a time jump #then season 8 would have been the much better padre/troy/madison arc #the way these writers reaally do not know how to write for troy and madison #it’s like they tried doing what they thought DE wouldve done with them but couldn’t decide if they wanted them to be villains or be redeemed #anyway i will always mourn the arcs we were meant to have in season 4 #madison becoming the villain vs nick and alicia and whatever was planned for troy #troy was only killed off bc dave didn’t trust the new showrunners with him and he couldnt save the OGs by killing them too lmao #but i am glad alicia is alive and we got to see daniel sharmans acting bc most of the cast were only giving about 20% atp #but who can blame them? the writing got to new levels of bad in s7/8 and their personalities were changing every few episodes #actually to be fair they did the best with what they were given they just seemed done #i only tuned in to alicias episodes in s7 so my opinion on the rest of it is from what ive read bc i just could not get through it #so my opinion on the characters full arcs in s7 may be wrong

I think abandoning diet culture and favouring the function of my body versus the ~aesthetic~ of my body has really opened my eyes and given me a new chance to be one with myself.

It is hard to get through this, but I honestly think it's worth the investment it takes to unlearn the idea that your body must serve others and must be out of the way, and must only take up so much space to be valued and for you to be loved.

#anti diet culture #celebrating what my body can do in the here and now has only taught me good things about myself #it's taught me how strong my body is and how i can push it further on my own time #like it can be really hard because the double whammy of dysphoria and body shaming of men but. fuck it i ball. i will continue to ball #haters mad i can ball and cry at the same time (joking)#also like... it will be a personal journey for everybody and there isn't the ~final stage~ where you'll pnly be happy with yourself...#...i don't think that's reasonable or fair to expect that from yourself...#...the important part of unlearning diet culture is that no matter what your body can/can't do and no matter how it appears...#...no matter all of that you're still worthy of love and respect and nourishment and happiness #you don't have to adore your body to recognize its worth *and* your worth #you could hate your body and still recognize that you deserve all those things #and lord knows sometimes we do hate our bodies and that is morally neutral at *worst*#i just hope that you all are able to internalize your inherent worth <3 #and i wanted to post about this because i think this conversation is important and unlearning these expectations is also important

despite being American & living in the US, i've gotten very used to using the metric system as default because a) studying in STEM fields b) doing fiber arts and sewing (you can use imperial but like... metric is so much easier) c) having friends from different countries, and d) most characters i write for use metric so i usually automatically switch when writing. the one exception is needing to use feet, especially when writing any sort of description. "a meter away" simply does not have the same ring as "a few feet away." it feels natural to describe a character as "around 6 feet tall" but "180 cm tall" just feels weird.

i know this is just a cultural difference of me growing up with imperial so it sounds more natural but has the metric system thought of introducing a new measurement somewhere between a centimeter and a meter for ease of narrative description? (and no, a decimeter isn't going to cut it)

#to be fair i also usually use fahrenheit for ease of communication but i can usually do rough conversions in my head #though shout out to my entirely american father for saying a couple of years ago “i'm converting to metric”#and from that point on absolutely refusing to give anyone imperial measurements for anything #i'm not quite that brave #my posts #i'm sure people who only use metric have the same “...that doesn't sound right” if writing in imperial though so we can all suffer together

i feel like i’ve been WAITING for the other shoe to drop wrt people’s opinions about watcher for this very reason. not that i think the reaction is completely not understandable but the greater the parasocial relationship, the greater the fallout as soon as public opinion shifts. you don’t have a relationship with these people they’re just content creators, chill

Talking a little bit about 'boycotting Eurovision' under Keep Reading, feel free to scroll down if is not what you want to see.

The most used argument on the matter of banning Israel from Eurovision is the fact that Russia got banned from Eurovision, which is the worst argument anyone could bring.

Kindly reminder that Russia didn't get banned because of the war with Ukraine. Russia got banned because many countries has threatened to withdraw from the competition. Sadly, that's a big difference.

Yes, the countries has threatened to withdraw because they support Ukraine and see Russia as the party in the wrong. That was their reason. EBU's reason for banning Russian was because those countries threatened to withdraw, not because the war was bad and Russia must be stopped.

This situation isn't the same. Why? Because many countries support Israel in their genocide. Because this time around Palestine is the party in the wrong. Because we're taught to believe that Israel isn't in the wrong here.**

Boycotting Eurovision won't work. There are people out there who don't know the truth and want to watch Eurovision. There are people out there who don't care and will watch Eurovision regardless of the situation. There are people out there who, despite having the facts, still don't see Israel as the bad guy in this situation and will watch Eurovision. Sadly, boycotting won't work unless everyone does it.

The only way Israel will get banned, in my opinion, is by going through the same thing as Russia. If other countries threatened to withdraw- and not any countries, but the ones investing the most in Eurovision, then yes. That will get Israel banned.

Otherwise? The only thing we do is hurt artists that don't deserve it. Artists who use Eurovision as a way to get more exposure and experience. Artists who deserve to be heard.

Don't vote for Israel's entry. Don't stream their song either. Heck, turn off the TV when is their turn to perform.

**This whole situation (the war, not Eurovision) isn't only black and white. Civilians die daily because of this, all of them from both sides. Innocent people who has no fault. Let's not forget that

a good question to consider is if "solve the epitaph or die" was ever explicitly a challenge issued by anybody here.

#umineko liveblog #the original riddle meant it as metaphorical #and if you assume this is about succession then the killings stop making sense #so it feels very much like that's an easy to read assumption into the grey area that isn't actually there #like. the implication here would be that solving the epitaph would stop the killings #so including that is almost an implicit demand from beatrice for the family to try to stop her #but given what we know about who is most likely orchestrating this #'i am going to kill you all but please also do your best to stop me i promise i'll play fair' doesn't make sense #however this does feed into the whole 'the culprit wants their crimes to be solved' deal i thought about earlier in the story #and if you're deliberately making solvable crimes is that not the same thing as wanting to be stopped?#maybe feeding back into the magic as gamble thing?#a crime can only be magical if you have decent odds of being stopped and succeeding anyway #which is all logical and makes sense but there's not a single person in this story that line of thinking maps onto #kinzo is the closest but kinzo has explicitly been ruled out like fifty times over #so bluhhhhhh i don't know!!!! beatrice your contradictory ways haunt and vex me

For how much primarily PvP players mock PvE players as carebears, I've never played a game where the PvP players didn't whine incessantly if they can't curb-stomp another player with little chance for that player to escape or fight back.

Every time something is suggested (or even implemented) where the field is level (such as normalizing stats and skills so everyone has the same baseline), people lose their minds because suddenly those scrubs they've been obliterating can actually fight back.

Tell me again how pvp is about skill, when those times that's literally true are the times pvp was 'bad'

And I'm someone who enjoys PvP when I'm in the mood for it, its just rarely as fair as people like to pretend it is.
