what are your thoughts on nettles?
understanding nettles and criston cole as narrative foils is the key to unlocking the secret good fire and blood that is about unpacking ways in which the targaryen dynasty maintained control through class, gender, and state violence. and also dragon magic.

"aang didn't tell katara to forgive just to let her anger out and let go" ?!?!?!?! litcheraclly the WHOLE false dichotomy presented by the narrative of the episode (using AANG as the primary mouthpiece) is forgiveness vs revenge like please watch the episode again and pay actual attention to the words coming out of aang's mouth.... so many tsr takes ignore the words in aang's mouth to interpret him more positively while putting words in zuko's mouth to view him more negatively, all the while pretending katara never said anything at all about HER OWN TRAUMA

i think i’ve said like this exact thing before but there r few things that piss me off as much as people making aus where leafpool loses her arc and place in the story and then have the nerve to be like “it’s bc leafpool deserves better than crowfeather and should have a happy peaceful life☺️” as an excuse to just ignore her like bro the fact that bad shit happened to her and that her life was unfair is part of what makes her so compelling ur not fooling me i can tell u just dgaf about her

"Haha if toh had been a lesser show written by worse writers it would be Lumity being ambigious and Huntlow being front and centre" You fools!! You are all thinking too kind, if toh had been a lesser show with way worse writers Eda would have ended up as a law abidding COP!!!

holy shit, this post just made something click for me.
both will and mike’s arcs have revolved around being separated from each other again and again and again.
every season they’re torn apart in some way, and one of them is desperately trying to get the other back—s1 physically, s2 spiritually, s3 emotionally, and again in s4 by physical distance…
yeah, their arcs are woven together and it went totally over my head. their happy ending is each other. it’s written this way.

most insane making scene of all time perhaps that bit in Agamemnon where Cassandra tells the chorus that no one has ever believed her and they say no! we'll believe you! we know about your curse and we promise! and she says ok well Agamemnon and I both are about to be murdered and the chorus says surely you're lying.

someone tell me why every yorkalina fic explains away the lighter thing as york being a smoker and carolina tries to convince him to stop by taking/being given his lighter...
you're really going to tell me the girl thats hardened by war at 24, has the world's most damaging relationship with her father, and has an addictive obsessive personality ISN'T a smoker like come on...

oh my god what the fuck.
sorry, can’t let things die. more abigail hobbs posting. (sort of inspired by @bloodaria and their post this morning? it’s referenced at least)
look at these three gifs. i know that the will and abigail one wasn’t actually real, but LOOK AT THE BODY LANGUAGE.
abigail is struggling against garret. she’s fighting for her life. she knew he was going to kill her. she had always known that. from the moment she had started helping her father target girls, from the moment she realized just how similar they were to her, she knew she was going to die. the way garret tries to cut her throat is quick and meant to finish the job quickly. despite being the one to kill her, garret didn’t want her to be in pain. he wanted her to go quickly.
the way will ‘kills’ her is the exact same way. he’s holding abigail the exact same way that garret was, down to pinning the same arm to her body and the way his cut is quick and broad - his arm swings the same way garret’s did, uninhibited by gunshots. will knew he was going to end up killing her and she wanted her to go the same way garret had wanted her to.
but hannibal’s method is completely different. his is slow, precise. methodical. he doesn’t restrain her and she doesn’t fight him off. he digs the blade in and he drags it across her scar - he doesn’t slit her throat, or go for any artery, he reopens the wound. it’s breaking the teacup that has come back together.
it’s slow because it’s a punishment. it’s not a mercy killing, it’s not getting rid of abigail so that the fbi don’t get to her. abigail didn’t think for a second that hannibal would kill her. she trusted him, more than she trusted her own father and more than will thought she trusted him. she handed him the knife to finish the job - the same way she had broken her tea cup when she had that drugged tea with hannibal, she’s breaking the teacup herself. just under hannibal’s influence.

and the moral of the story is you can’t make a man too much of a green flag bc if they put a single foot wrong the story will tell you it’s their fault for having trauma

thinking about the 'I would never court Penelope Featherington' scene again and how angry our fandom has been at Colin for it for the last two years and wondering. . .what exactly was he meant to say?
Lord Fife and his friends are *slimy*. They are gross. They have 0 respect for women. Fife isn't *Colin's* friend. Fife is *Anthony's* friend. Fife runs in Anthony's circles. Misogynistic circles with misogynistic language. Fife and Co. are out here saying the debutantes are only good for being 'wed, bed, and bred'. Fife is the one out here, well into his 30s and with an established title, fucking an 18 year woman raw on her first year out in the marriage mart with 0 intention to marry her. That is 10000% an act of violence in this society. And you *know* he's bragging about it. Hell, he was probably bragging about it right before he asked Colin about Penelope.
Colin's not in those circles. Colin has female friends. Colin respects his mother. Colin cares for his sisters. The worst thing Colin has EVER said about a woman was to call her 'cruel'.
So. . .what is Colin meant to say? "No, we're just friends" isn't going to fly for people like Fife. As IF he wouldn't reply with 'Yeah, suuuuuure, wink wink nudge nudge'. Thus ruining Penelope and fucking over her future completely. A lesser man than Colin would have let them think what they wanted, and that would have still ruined Penelope in their eyes. Silence? Incriminating.
And he doesn't want FIFE of all people to know about his close friendship with Penelope. Fife who has never once been seen respecting a woman. Fife who has never once viewed a woman as a person and not a sexual conquest. Penelope is a safe place for Colin. Is precious to him. He KNOWS that conversation could have destroyed her reputation.
People talk about how he 'ruined her prospects', but in actuality, Colin responding the way he did. . .likely SAVED her prospects. There was NOTHING he could have said except for a vehement refusal, completely shutting down the conversation, that would have spared her from their judgement and cruelty. Sure, they laughed, and maybe it was at Pen. Maybe it was at Colin. (frankly, how good of a twist would it be if they WERE laughing at Colin? Colin the 'green' boy back from his travels after being oh so gullible and getting lied to by his ex fiance? Anthony made fun of Colin for being a virgin, we think these men, all 10+ years older than him, wouldn't do the same?) But at least they didn't go 'yeah, I guess she's a ruined woman' about it, because that *would* have destroyed her reputation
We talk about how Colin could have worded it differently, but honestly?
I think he said the exact right thing in those circumstances
