Thinking that part of the reason why "love yourself, you are beautiful, adore yourself" falls completely flat on me is because I can't do anything with abstract instructions and it simply means nothing to me. But very funny is that I'm accidentally getting there anyway by entirely unconventional means (mind animal)
Love yourself: okay. How? What does that mean? How can I love something I have no particular feelings for? It just is. How do I have feelings on purpose? How do I make myself care? Am I supposed to pretend to have feelings I don't until it's real? I end up not doing this because it doesn't feel like an actual thing I can do
Dæmonism, apparently: okay, so imagine the other half of your mind voice, the one you bounce your inner dialogue off, as a person. Name them, find out what they're like, and now their opinions hold more weight. What do they want you to do? Would that benefit you? Is it possible that this part of you knows how to take care of you? Imagine them as a companion of your own, that is always with you wherever you go. Isn't it nice to be in your own company sometimes? You can represent them visually through an animal. There are many ways to determine what animal would fit. You see qualities of yourself in this animal, don't you think this is a creature worth of admiration, respect and love? Then why wouldn't you be? Build a relationship with this part of you, make a way of living with them, grant them kindness and feel love for them. But remember! They are you and you are them! OOPS you've been tricked into caring for yourself and holding yourself to a higher esteem!

i made a semi-facetious joke about kabru dungeon meshi but then it turned into a long ramble oops
kabru is so weirded out by laios' inscrutable vibes and lack of interest in other people (including kabru which he totally doesn't take personally or anything) that he immediately descends into paranoia and assumes malevolence
what i'm saying is laios is autistic rep, this we know,
but kabru is also autistic rep,
for equally traumatized autistic people who think their hard-learned mastery of people pleasing, social scripts and masking translates into unilateral skill at reading people of all types and assuming they are right on the money about it every time (**despite obvious cases of this not being true) and now call themselves Dark Empaths and have that one person who didn't wrong them but also didn't notice them or immediately become their friend and so said Empath is waiting desperately for another, actually valid reason to call them out and claim this weirdo was evil all along and be 'dealt with' and feel reassuring closure over not being able to connect with what is now clearly proven to be just an obvious error of a human, whatever that even means,
and tragically not grappling with the irony of this being the exact fate they've merely defensively trained their way out of facing at the hands of others
i say this as someone who likes kabru and think he and laios should kiss btw i just wanted to see how many people read all that and Flinched, happy tuesday
**something something:
Worthy Contrast i think, between
A) kabru assuming average joe adventurers laios and falin are sinister people hiding something... after seeing their honest generosity be pretty blatantly taken advantage of, without them ever catching on or at least never causing a fuss, and kabru assuming laios could only ever be corrupted by the forces of the dungeon because laios doesn't care enough about people or what people think, which must mean he doesn't value human life enough to not do evil things one day
B) kabru having misguided trust for the town's literal crime lord, who he knows is a crime lord, entirely bc of how friendly the guy is and how clean and orderly he runs things (because it's functionally pragmatic to not be as evil as possible about it) and oohh they're so well acquainted! kabru knows he's a ultimately a good dude who'd do the right thing and care about the community whose seedy underbelly he oversees, and look at him, he even looks like santa claus...! after all the cordial interactions they've had, surely "leave money on the table to prevent a calamity that could leave hundreds dead" is a favor he won't mind kabru asking of him at all!
kabru said he wanted to see a mask fall,
he got exactly that

okay, Midst is very good, PLEASE listen to it, but also I realized that part of why I am so gleeful about Midst is that it not only features one of my favorite things (unreliable narrators) but also features one of my other favorite things (the narrative standing directly behind the characters with a gun)
case in point: spent the entirety of the episode last week feeling an intense amount of dread because I DID see the narrative standing directly behind the characters with a gun and then this week felt an intense amount of vindication when the gun fired
Rowan has said before that I am way too good at picking up on foreshadowing (I think I am a normal amount of good at it, but also recognize that I seem to correctly predict where things are going substantially more often than many of my friends), but also I am so gleeful that A. Midst does occasionally manage to clothesline me anyway (yes! it's fun to stop dead in the middle of the street due to Events and Revelations!) but also B. the narrative is built to be even more enjoyable when you pick up the foreshadowing because then the narrative is making pointed eye contact with you while standing behind the unsuspecting characters with a gun
anyway, this metaphor is getting away from me, please listen to Midst, I'm having a GREAT time

My Top 100 Ships (#68: Rick/Morty)
Source: Rick and Morty
When Did I Start Shipping Them?
I watched episode one and it tripped my 'fucked up relationship' sensors: I don't know if shipping them is really the right word for my emotions about this particular pairing, but I knew from the get-go that I wanted to explore the most toxic aspects of their relationship to each other.
Why Do I Ship Them?
There's a lot of themes in Rick and Morty that I think are interesting, but Rick and Morty's codependence and both of their reluctant awareness of it is something that strikes me as the heart of the show. Throughout the show, Rick is using Morty in a harmful way, and introducing romantic/sexual dynamics to that makes it easier to viscerally explore that guilt and abuse. There are so many moments in the show that are about the way Rick disregards Morty's boundaries, and it just... makes me need fanfiction about them where that's in the spotlight.
Favourite Fanfiction Tropes/Staples?
Fanfics that pay attention to both sides of the codependency: fics where Rick is forced to confront what it would look like for him if Morty left, and how far he's willing to go to prevent it. Also, fics that are brutal about injuries and the threat of their adventures, in a way that the cartoon style of the show isn't quite capable of conveying.

tbh i think that women *not* having like...an organized "religion" (but i would rather use the term "spiritual practice" bc i do believe there is a difference between that and organized religion) the way men do with abrahamic religions directly correlates to our oppression

your hc on the tiaras being the eyes of serenity makes me wonder if you have any hc about the planetary symbols on the foreheads aside from it being the natural state
Mmh, let’s see. Not particularly I guess, if anything I think I’d take away stuff from canon.
Like in canon is implied that the symbol appears when a senshi “needs help” or “is willing to help”, I don’t have that, cause that would imply the symbols inherently being tied to the team rather than to the individual, or it could mean that the senshis are inherently born to be tied in a connection where they would need this type of almost instinctual communication engrained into their being in the first place.
The ladder isn’t an inherently bad idea and I think you could go very interesting places with it, but I just haven’t gotten that far.
That really cuts to the question of: what is a senshi? Why do they exit and what is their purpose? And I know we have an answer in canon, but I don’t particularly love it, so I’m reworking the whole structure from the ground up.
In the general sense though, the symbols just stand as a way of identifying if one is a senshi or not. A weird analogy I have for it is like the red markings on a black widow, tho in the senshis’ case it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re a threat and the symbols is a warning. The symbol just is, as far as we know, and it’s prob not as easy to understand as the red markings on a spider.
