Ikemen Prince AU Series

“A Reflection of the Parents”

Kids are like sponges. They soak up every bit of information. They are also like mirrors in the way they mirror their parents’ behavior.

Lawrence and Anastasia seem to have picked up certain habits from their fathers.

Ever since he could remember, Leon always fell asleep while reading. The quiet words on the page always lulled him to sleep. He couldn’t help his eyes when they slowly started to droop from being bombarded by tiny letters on a large page.

And ever since he could remember, Chevalier has always known the value of a book. These books were the only world he had ever known to be tolerable. He couldn’t help but feel protective of them.

Leon had face planted right into the pages of the book. He looked like a little shrimp with the way his back bent over to rest his head on the table. When Chevalier saw this atrocious crime being committed, he walked up to Leon and pulled the book out from under Leon’s head. In response, Leon bonked his head on the table.

“Owww... What was that for?” Leon groaned, rubbing his forehead.

“How many times do I have to tell you that books are not pillows?” Chevalier huffed in frustration.

“I wasn’t using it as a pillow, I was reading it!” Leon said.

Chevalier scoffed, “Unless you’ve evolved to the point where you have the ability to read with your eyes closed, I doubt you were doing any reading.” Without another word, Chevalier walked off with the confiscated, or some might say rescued, book.

It wasn’t a new occurrence. Chevalier has been doing this to Leon for years. Nothing’s changed except for maybe Chevalier had become much more hostile and a little more protective.

So it wasn’t surprising when the exact same scene was set up between Leon’s daughter and Chevalier’s son.

Lawrence grabbed the book out from under Anastasia’s head. She bonked her forehead on the table and woke up in a painful daze.

“Ouchie! Hey! What was that for?!” Anastasia shouted, rubbing her forehead.

“Books are not pillows. You’re going to ruin the book with your drool,” Lawrence told her.

“You’re so mean!” she exclaimed and stomped out of the room.

Lawrence looked down at the book and slowly put it back. He wasn’t able to bring himself to look at the book after what he’d just done.

A young countryside maiden who moved to the capital so she could start her florist bookkeeper dream. She's always keen to learn about the world, especially about her own country and its prosperity over the years despite the struggles. Her beauty's like a flower yes, but she's a flower with thorns - she may look innocent and ditzy, but don't let that fool you for she has the quickest, sharpest comeback that'll probably put you in a coffin.

Like Father, Like Son

Chevalier’s son is awfully a lot like his father. But only on the outside. He’s as soft as his mother on the inside.

Idk the word count because I’m writing this on my phone 😀 I’m just obsessed with the idea of Chevalier’s kid being the burnt out gifted kid stereotype

Nobody dared to question the son of a genius. No one ever looked him in the eye, nor did they really directly speak to him. They did plenty of talking behind his back to make up for it anyway.

It never bothered him, at least it didn’t look like it. He inherited his father’s cold exterior, or at least it looked like it. In actuality, he never noticed how his facial features relaxed into a hostile expression whenever he retreated into the depths of his imagination.

If anyone could hear my thoughts, what would they think of me? He wondered to himself.

He organized his thoughts into large filing cabinets. Each drawer contained its own world. Some were safe, worlds meant to comfort. Others were dangerous, worlds meant to intrigue. But most worlds were like the real world, only seen through the lens of romance.

The woman claimed to be a widow to hide the fact that her son was a baby born out of wedlock. Still, everyone looked down upon her for her and labeled her as promiscuous.

The real truth behind her single motherhood was the fact that the boy’s father never wanted to be in his son’s life. His father disappeared without a word and his mother never said a word either.

It was easier to think that he just died and never said goodbye.

Until one day, his father returned. After falling ill, he decided to make amends and fix all the things he broke before he goes.

At first the mother resists, believing he doesn’t deserve another chance. But little by little, he does everything he can to prove himself worthy.

The boy finally gets to know his father and his mother rekindles old flames. He’s done it. He overcame his fear of fatherhood and mended relationships. If only he had more time. If only he had done this from the start. He would’ve had more time to enjoy his would-be wife and his son.

Eventually, he succumbed to his illness. He’s done a lot to improve, but all that effort was destroyed by his abandonment once again.

After dragging himself out of his imagination, Lawrence frowned because of his own guilt. Maybe it was wrong of him to wish his father left them.

He would only hear passing stories of his grandfather and all of his uncles’ mothers. He had nothing to complain about. He was a privileged boy, spoiled in royal riches and exquisite luxuries.

Most importantly, he had a mother that loved him and a father that cared, even if they were the King and Queen of Rhodolite.

But that’s the problem. His parents aren’t just anybody, which means he isn’t able to be who he wants. He’s someone that’s carefully molded by fire and tossed into the water where he’ll either float or sink.

The future of a whole kingdom rests on the outcome of a freshly minted prince. No one wants a prince who spends most of his time daydreaming about romance scenarios and stories that take place in fictional worlds. They want a prince, strong like his father, King Chevalier. So that one day, prince will be just like king. Like father, like son.
