I really dig that change is the main antagonist of season 2. We've got the golden age of piracy just starting to show the signs of waning. We've got 2 lovestruck tenderonis in the throes of self discovery with a gulf growing between them. Their self actualizations are at odds with each other because they have opposing relationships to pirating. Ed's eager to quit pirating while Stede is just ascending into it. Even though they adore each other, their goals don't match.

Ed's burnt out and traumatized from being Blackbeard. He got a taste of stability with Stede and wants to feel safe more than anything. Stede is traumatized from a lifetime of ridicule. He got a taste of validation from each adventure and welcomes more of it. They're growing in opposite directions.

David Jenkins said season 2 was gonna explore a more mature love. Like relationships in your 20s. The stakes are higher than infatuation. Sex can't mend everything. And what do you do when the love of your life has growth that challenges yours? How do you balance loving yourself with loving another? How can you love each other in a way that's healthy for both people?

To love the sea as she must be loved, requires change.

i’m just trying to come up with ways to have teenage sam wearing different colour converse cause that seems like something he would do. i think when his feet started growing, one grew faster than the other. but it’s not like the winchesters would complain about things like their shoes being a little too tight, especially when john would just use it as a reason for sam to wear his boots all the time. so sam clung to his old pair until his left toes were literally ripping through them. so dean takes him to value village or something and they finds ones that are green, not black, but at least his toes aren’t being crushed. except the right shoe is wayyy too big for his foot still. so he goes around for several months with mismatched shoes, which john gets on his ass about and dean’s like “it’s just how the kids are dressing these days” . and sam decides he actually thinks it looks cool and it becomes his thing.

alternatively, one time when they’re packing up in a rush sam manages to forget one of his shoes and he has to get new ones. and they can only find one shoe in his size. luckily it’s the one he needs. dean only teases him about the girl’s name on sole for like… two months.

also his cons constantly get blood stains on them and he has to try to wash them/ come up with new excuses for the mysteriously blood-like substance on his shoes. it’s uhhhhhh coffee :) spilled it when i was doing the dishes. it’s rust. from my bike chain. i definitely have a bike. it’s dirt from when i lived in oklahoma. the muds red up there.

#I’m doing shit in bio and nearly the entire class is failing #<- my grade rn is 70% which is passing but ifl it’s gonna keep going down #apparently it’s just bio chem that’s hard ?? idk I was hoping the lab would bring up my grade but I ended up getting 68% on it #and it dropped my grade #I mean I hope the other units are easier #I’m just really stressed about it #I like the teacher he’s really nice but idk if it’s his problem or our problem that everyone’s doing bad bc it’s not just me #I don’t even want to go to the uni which needed bio as a prerequisite anymore #but I can’t drop it bc I need another credit #and it’s too late to switch classes #:( #I’m worried my grade will affect my entrance scholarship bc I need to keep my average above a certain number #also there is no hot water in my building so I have to take cold showers until they fix it #and that’s really pissing me off #okay that’s all for my venting
