today my dad wore a tie-dye shirt i made for him to the hospital where he works. apparently at one point he walked into the break room after seeing a patient and everyone there kinda… just started staring at him. so he got confused and was like “what is it??” and one of his coworkers asked “…is that blood?” and then my dad finally looked down and realized the collar of his shirt was visible though the scrubs, so everyone could see this vivid red splatter right near his neck. with no context whatsoever. in a hospital.

Y’know what really sucks? When you look at certain aesthetics and go “oh my fuck that’s gender euphoria right there, that’s exactly what I want to look like!” but we live in a shit world and your body type just isn’t what these looks cater to. And I don’t mean this in a “this only looks good in thin/smaller chested people” way, I mean this in a “even if this look could work on someone bigger/bustier/wider hips it wouldn’t matter, because they don’t make clothes for those body types anywhere” kind of way.

I got my binder in after exchanging the first one (the size of which was recommended by the company) and it too doesn’t fit. I can’t find the pants I want anywhere because my hips are wide and to fit a mens pair would mean the legs would be too wide, ruining the look completely. The aesthetic I know would make me happiest and most comfortable doesn’t exist for my body, and even if by some miracle it does, it damn sure won’t be in my budget. I get so infuriated by people who shit on poor, disabled, plus size people for shopping at shein, because we don’t have the luxury of finding things that fit us and make us feel good at every damn department store or thrift store. But even shein is difficult to find exactly what I want - the mens sizes won’t fit right and the womens pants inspired by the mens overly feminizes them, removes pockets, adds wild patterns, etc.

When I tried on the 3XL binder and found it painful to even got on I started crying. I just want to feel okay in my own skin without spending a small fortune that I definitely don’t have. I just want to feel like myself. Why is that so hard?
