Random ramblings about changes in my storyline below the cut, because I've been trying to rework this with my original ideas in a way I like it and I've finally decided to just switch things around.
Rhi, Tev, Ia, and Sindri are all next-gen sylvari kids that I have. Sindri is Rel and Trahearne's son, and the other three are Kerra/Canach/Nisha's kids.
The problem with that is simply that for all of them to exist right now, that timeline's really really tight, and that's a lot of kids to pop into existence right when you're finally on the tail end of a whole bunch of important life events. The romantic partners in question do indeed reach points where they want kids, but in terms of the trio in particular, I can't make that timeline make sense in my brain. I just don't realistically think it'd happen.
I really enjoy all of these kids (both their personalities and designs) and I do want them all to exist, but they officially no longer all exist in the same timeline. Rhi and Sindri are in the main timeline (where Kerra is commander), and Tev and Ia exist in my secondary timeline (where Cyp is commander).
This does change some story stuff around (in part with reworking how main canon!Cyp meets the squad), but I like this better overall.

Kay I give you uhhhhh Violet Moonstrider, she's a sylvari who's really tall and chipper and giddy about everything. She awakened and immediately died, then mallyx brought her back - but she doesn't let that dampen her mood :) she's pink with blue eyes that stare into your soul like a bug and has a white petals pixie cut and plant freckles that glow in the dark. She also miiiiight be slightly Glint-branded!
I have a new character that I instantly love, thank you so much :D :D
Tumblr media
For Violet, I give you Ia! She's a sylvari sprout, meaning that she's still little (physically looks--and also acts--somewhere between 9 and 11 post-EoD), but she would think Violet was incredibly cool. Ia's an elementalist (weaver specifically) who loves to pull pranks and is a menace (/affectionate), and she's afraid of not being strong enough to protect herself, even though she already is. I think she could learn a lot from Violet (both good things and less good things) and that she'd enjoy spending time with her as long as Violet didn't mind!

Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?
Ooh, interesting one! (And thank you for the ask! :D) Let's see...
Kerra and Nisha both have Aurene, who--although both do very much consider her their daughter and love her a lot--isn't blood-related to either of them.
Cyp has Ia for about a week after he rescues her from the NMC, and though she doesn't really qualify as his "dependent" after that, they still maintain a friendship/mentor-student kinda relationship.
Casca and Brook have Finch, who kinda drops headfirst into both their lives, and though they meet when Finch is (barely, but still) an adult, I'm definitely still counting this because Finch very much ends up as more-or-less their kid.
Aside from that, no one else is on this list (yet), but there's a couple people who probably will be eventually! :)

What does Ialyn want to do when she gets older? Anything that she would absolutely hate to be doing? Aside from making things blow up, what are some of her other hobbies? What would've happened if she'd stayed in the NMC?
Hi hi, thanks a bunch for asking about my small fire plant!! :D Let's go through all of these!
Ia doesn't really know what she wants to do, and that starts to bother her as she gets older. There's never been any pressure to choose a specific path, but her twin brother never really had a problem with that, and it bugs her that she does. She knows she enjoys using her magic and is proud of her skill there. She knows she has some talent in engineering but isn't sure to what end she wants to use that. She doesn't want to touch diplomacy or politics with a ten-foot pole, which narrows down the field a bit but not much. I think the idea of learning about the flow of magic in Tyria would be fascinating to her, but the idea of actually studying to learn it would be harder.
Pff, she does like to explode things, for sure--more so when she's super little, funnily enough, but some of it does stick with her as she grows. And she does know how to construct explosives, too. But as for other hobbies, she can play a few instruments at least passably well (like a couple basic tunes), but she's best at saxophone. She likes to collect rocks of various shapes and sizes. When she gets older, she starts participating in fighting tournaments and makes quite a name for herself there. And she enjoys playing with her fernhound Andy :)
If she'd stayed in the NMC...it would have gone Badly, to say the least. The sylvari who'd engineered her kidnapping in the first place intended to use her more as something to hurt her parents (as well as Cyprian) with, but in the world where said people somehow weren't able to get her out of there, that would have evolved in turning her into a weapon against her family. And she would have been a very deadly weapon.

🖊 for each of Kerra's kids (Tev, Rhi and Ia if I'm not mistaken ?) 🥰 Wanna know more about these saplings!
You are indeed entirely correct!! :D Kiddo facts incoming, tyty!
🖊 - Rhi is the most directly involved with plot things out of the three of these kiddos at the moment (since they're the oldest)--and I've mentioned this before, but they end up accompanying Kerra and Aurene into the Mists to chase the Aetherblades and Gorrik (since they've also come along to meet Ankka). During the fall off the airships/the crash into the beach, Kerra cushions Rhi's landing with her own body by holding onto them, hence why she's hurt the worst. This also means that Rama's first introduction to Tyrians here is 1) seeing the unconscious and very injured body of a purple plant person amidst airship wreckage; and then 2) being abruptly held at swordpoint by another, younger, less-injured plant person standing slightly in front of a strange rat creature. Rhi specifically holds him at swordpoint with Caladbolg, too, so--overall great experience! xD (And I'm almost certain I've said this last bit before, too, but Rhi and Rama do eventually become pretty good friends. He's the reason they know how to use a gunsaber.)
🖊 - Tev is more than willing to talk your ear off about so many things. King of infodumps. Want to know why triangles are (according to him) the best shape? Want to know the steps to several different dances (some of which he's actually learned and some of which he's picked up from watching)? Want to hear how he came up with his latest move with his stave? Please ask. He will definitely tell you.
🖊 - Ia inherited her ren's impulsiveness, but did not inherit any of the intense emotional control that came along with it for Nisha--this kiddo really doesn't know how to be anything but genuine. If she's happy, you'll be able to tell. If she's angry, you'll be able to tell. This isn't just a kid thing, either--it's a her thing; it doesn't change as she gets older. She'll half-jokingly lie to her parents sometimes, just like "oh no, I definitely didn't do x thing", but it's way more sarcasm than actual lying.

07. Turn-ons: assertiveness, being protective (in a way that's not smothering)
08. Favorite food: banana chips

10. Favorite music: anything with words that she can sing along to (not that she can sing well, but she has fun with it)--tends to be popular songs and well-known folk ones
11. Biggest fear: losing Keiran
12. Biggest fantasy: her parents never having died, and her and Keiran being able to have a decently normal childhood
13. Bad habits: will walk into things that she shouldn't be able to handle alone just to prove she can, in fact, handle them
14. Biggest regret: walking away (at first) from her parents when she found them again

11. Biggest fear: losing his family because of something he did

15. Best kept secrets: the true extent of his own magical abilities
16. Last thought: "There's three more ziplines in Kaineng I haven't tried yet."
17. Worst romantic experience: N/A
18. Biggest insecurity: it's mostly related to him being unable to protect the people he cares about, but to also include a different something that's more lighthearted, he's still learning to dance and feels silly that it's taking him so long to pick up
19. Weapon of choice: staff (hand-to-hand combat, not magic) or daggers (he's gotten a decent amount of training from Caithe)
20. Role Model: all of his parents in different ways, Caithe, Rhi, Aurene

OC Question Hour! For whoever you feel like sharing about.
What are they skilled at to the point where it installs a sense of confidence? Do they rely on it often to get by or boost self esteem?
(@uselessidiotsquad)
Oh thanks a bunch for the OC question hour!! :D <3 I'll use the random thing picker, so let's see... For Tanza, that's probably her connection to the Mists and especially to Owl. She didn't fully realize her revenant abilities in particular were skills rather than personal quirks until around 1328-1329, but once she does, said abilities definitely help instill confidence (and add a boost when it comes to her fighting skills). They don't exactly rely on their Mists connection--except when it comes to Owl. A very large part of the reason they're able to reach her (in the first place and after my 'verse's version of Ryland's attack in Snowden Drifts) is because of said connection. For Ia, it's her ability to summon fire. She's an elementalist (and will eventually be a weaver once she's at level 80 in-game), but she never had to train in order to use fire; it comes naturally to her. At first, most of the confidence/self-esteem she gets from it has to do with either a) her proficiency in magic in general or b) the fact that she can use it to basically make her hands into Iron Man thrusters and thus doesn't fear heights. After her interactions with the NMC, it becomes more of a getting-by thing since she turns to using it more as a weapon/shield/defense. If she wants to be left alone, she can and will just encircle herself with fire until people leave. Brook is a revenant like Tanza (and will be getting the vindicator specialization when EoD releases), but they don't see their magical abilities as essential in quite the same way she does. Don't get me wrong, they value their revenant skills, but they value their ability to fight in general much more. It's in part left over from when they were younger and in the fahrar--magic wasn't looked upon highly, and they were able to hide their power for the most part, so they did just that. So...basically, the answer to your question for them is their physical fighting prowess, no magic involved. Since they're either in Tyria or Elona depending on the point in the timeline, they definitely use it to get by. And they're proud of said skill, too, so yes, it's a self-esteem booster. (Related to this, they're a Very bad patient when sick or injured, haha.)

All of p and w1 and x1 from the alphabet asks...for ALL your characters because I'm curious!
Oh good lord this is going to be So Much Character Talk, why do I keep creating characters aaslkdjf (but I am not upset about this whatsoever, to be clear :D ) Thanks a bunch for the ask, and let's get started! P: Personality 1. what is their best personality trait? Kerra: Her resilience. Literally everyone on here is resilient at least a little, but Kerra's (arguably) the best at it, and it's the answer she'd give if asked. Nisha: Xyr determination. Could also be labeled stubbornness. You don't find xem giving up very often. Rel: His forcefulness. He's kind and understanding (and stubborn like his sibling), but he's a force of nature when he wants to be. Cyprian: His kindness, even though it's not always at the forefront. Cody: Her faith, though it's not in the gods or even, really, in her Mother. It's just in the fact that the world will get better if everyone keeps working hard. Rhi: Their adaptability/flexibility. They enjoy and seek out new things, and though that doesn't mean change is always easy for them, it's easier, at least. Tev: His perceptiveness. Even as a kid, it's very hard to hide anything from him--which can be both good and bad, of course, but I'm putting it here. Ia: Her intensity/dedication. She's an elementalist who favors fire, and it's evident in her personality. She's the kind of person who plunges into everything at 100%. Sindri: His charm. Sin is very charismatic, which serves him well with paparazzi trying to mess with his family as well as whenever he visits the Mists. Tanza: Her protectiveness--again, a trait shared by a lot of my folks, but I'm specifically noting it for her. Tanza adores their mothers and would do anything to protect them. Aysel: Her ferocity. In part a defense mechanism and in part just how she is, Aysel takes zero shit, and you don't want to take her in a fistfight pretty much ever. Chieko: Her adventurousness. She's a noble and then a Priory scholar and then a trusted member of Pact search-and-rescue, and it's in a large part due to her desire to see/learn about more of the world. Minei: Her ability to trust. She probably wouldn't give that answer, but this kid has been through So much and yet still is able to bond and trust and accidentally adopt parents/siblings wherever she goes. Ari: Her practicality. Ari's determination is also worth noting, for sure, but if you need someone to clarify the basics and cut through arguments/political stuff/posturing, she's very good at that. Weylon: His adherence to principles. They're specifically his own set of principles rather than any legal code, and the way he's followed them has shifted over the years, but...yeah. Lifa: Her loyalty. It's a double-edged sword, but Lifa would gladly fight and die for people she's loyal to without a second thought. Casca: Her resourcefulness. You can leave her alone, tied up, with a pin and three socks nearby and out of reach, and she'll find a way to get out. Brook: Their intelligence. They have plenty of other good qualities, but I wanted to highlight this one. They can and will insult you in several different languages. Pol: His compassion. Also his undoing, arguably, but Pol would be the first one to reach a hand out to anyone who needs it. Cio: Her confidence. It's something she's fought hard for and something she should be (and is) proud of. Pliarr: His tendency towards forgiveness. It's a dangerous trait as well as a positive one, but Pliarr very, very rarely holds grudges. And now that everyone's seen how long this will be, proceed under the cut at your own risk! xD
2. what is their worst personality trait? Kerra: Her tendency to blame everything on herself. Nisha: Xyr fundamental dislike of xyrself, which xe still struggles with. Rel: His tendency to feel like he has to do everything himself. Cyprian: His viciousness. It can be an advantage, too, but he's not afraid to hurt or kill should he need to. Cody: Her tendency to put people on pedestals. Rhi: Their overconfidence. In part because they're still young and haven't really faced a lot of adversity
personally, they don't have a proper sense of how unprepared they are. Tev: His perceptiveness--double-edged sword trait, here. He hears and sees a lot more than he should, so it's "worst" in terms of the fact that it hurts him as well as helps. Ia: Her carelessness. Again, this is a "she's a kid" thing mostly, but she jumps into things without considering consequences. Sindri: His cynicism. He tries to hope for the best but generally expects the worst from people. Tanza: Her indecision. This improves with time, but they have significant trouble actually choosing a course of action for a while. Or a favorite, for that matter. Aysel: Her tendency to run away from problems. She will face them, and fiercely, but she has to be cornered before that'll happen. Chieko: Her chip on her shoulder, which comes from being noble-born. Yet another thing that gets better with time. Minei: Her tendency to take on responsibility--basically, what you'd get if you combined Rel's flaw with Kerra's. (Ex: "My dad died, which I'm blaming myself for, and therefore I'm going to earn money to help Petra by running headlong into the fight against Zhaitan.") Ari: Her capability for denial--usually of her own feelings, but it can be more than that, too. Weylon: His temper/hostility/tendency to just lash out at everything. Lifa: Her loyalty, because it's way too often blind and out of a desperate desire for security. It's how she ends up following Bangar during the Icebrood Saga. Casca: Her tendency to hold grudges. She gives second chances occasionally, but pretty much never gives third ones. Brook: Their trouble with trust. They don't make friends easily, and honestly, their prickliness is a bit like Weylon--but tell them that and you'll probably get whacked in the face. Pol: His gullibility. He's basically the opposite of Brook this way--despite being an Ash soldier and trained to spot deception/to spy himself, he still tends to trust too quickly. Cio: Her inability to let things go. Grieving is really hard for her. Pliarr: His tendency towards forgiveness--same as his best trait. It's nice some of the time, but other times, he's let people back in who have really hurt him. 3. what of their personality do others love? Kerra: Her warmth. Kerra has a smile for almost everyone. Nisha: Xyr strength. Even when xe's falling apart inside, xe can lead an army if necessary. Rel: His stability. Similar to his sibling, Rel is a pillar in crisis, something that serves him well as a medic. Cyprian: Ia would say it's how much he tries, and how hard. "He really cares, he's just...not good at it yet." Cody: Her gentleness. Don't get me wrong, Cody's a deadeye and a damn good soldier, but she's also just got a soft touch that's generally appreciated. Pink contradictions sylvari kiddo, here. Rhi: Their authenticity. Rhi doesn't pretend, pretty much ever. Tev: His sweetness (and, at the moment, his larger-than-most-small-children vocabulary, which charms a lot of adults). Ia: Her fire. She says and does everything like she means it and like it needs to be done as fast as possible. Sindri: His charm/charisma--same as what I put above for his best quality. It's rare that Sin meets someone he can't befriend if he tries hard enough. Tanza: Her joy. She can look up at the sky and feel happiness, on a good day. Aysel: Her humor, for people who don't know her well, and her resilience for people who do. Chieko: Her generosity/willingness to give. It helps balance out that chip on her shoulder. Minei: Her ferocity, though that's both feared and admired. Ari: Her care and the fact that she tries (badly, sometimes) to hide it. Weylon: His determination to be better than he has been and better than he is. Lifa: Her passion for things. (Also, this one is making me sad, because out of all of these characters, Lifa is the most alone right now.) Casca: Her sense of humor and her absolute intolerance for insults directed at herself or her loved ones. Brook: Their dedication to the causes and people that they choose, even if those causes or people
could hurt them. Pol: His intuition combined with the fact that he's a sweetheart. Pol actively looks for ways to help when he can. Cio: Her sarcasm (though some people also hate it, Ari is a firm proponent of the "love" side). Pliarr: His determination to make up his own mind about things and situations rather than take someone's word for it. 4. what of their personality do others envy? Kerra, Nisha, Rel, Minei, Ari, Cio, Tanza: Some variant of "strength" is the easiest answer, and the most general. They're all leaders in some way, shape, or form, and though they're different people, their ability to lead is something people envy. Cyprian, Rhi, Casca, Brook, Aysel, Pliarr: Their individuality. It's something present in the others as well, but it's particularly admired and envied in these six. Cody, Tev, Ia, Pol (and Kerra, too): The way they love the world, even when it's hurt them and even when it's complicated. Sindri: His ability to listen and not judge. Chieko: Her idealism. Lifa: Her will to live, honestly. 5. do they hate anything about their personality/about other’s personalities? For their own personalities: Tev, Ia: Generally speaking, no. Kerra, Nisha, Rel, Cody, Tanza, Aysel, Cio, Pliarr: Conscious of the "worst personality trait" I listed above and sees it as a flaw. Rhi, Sindri, Chieko, Minei, Ari, Casca, Brook: Aware they're flawed, but they wouldn't acknowledge or recognize the one I mentioned above for them (or they'd recognize it, but not as a flaw). Cyprian, Weylon, Lifa: Has a general hatred of themself, not targeted. For other's personalities*: Cody, Rhi, Tev, Ia, Sindri, Chieko, Minei: Condescension. Nisha, Rel, Cio, Pliarr: Arrogance. Kerra, Weylon: People thinking they're superior because of their power or for any other reason (a cousin to condescension, in some ways). Cyprian, Tanza, Aysel: Cruelty. Ari, Casca, Brook, Lifa, Pol: Inconstancy/betrayal. *Note: these have some overlap, but I've only listed everyone's name for one of them. W: Water 1. do they drink enough water? Nisha, Cody, Tev, Ia, Tanza, Aysel, Chieko, Minei, Ari, Brook, Pol, Pliarr: Yes. Kerra, Rhi: Yes, but they need less water than most people. Rel, Cyprian, Weylon, Lifa, Casca: No. They're either busy and just forget (Rel, Casca) or don't bother to take care of themselves properly (Cyprian, Weylon, Lifa). Cio: No, and she needs more water than most people. Her brother bugs her about this quite often when he sees her. X: Xylophone 1. what is their favorite genre of music? Kerra, Cody, Tev, Tanza, Brook: Folk music, or stuff like it--instrumentals, strings, meaningful words. Nisha, Rhi, Ia, Minei, Ari, Lifa, Cio: Anything with a good beat; something that you can bob your head or dance to. Rel, Cyprian, Sindri, Pol, Pliarr: Pretty much anything at all, as long as it means something to them personally. Aysel, Chieko, Weylon, Casca: Things along the line of Metal Legion--heavy rock, heavy metal, maybe some screaming thrown in.

Many incoming heh~ From the oc asks: 2 and 3 for Aysel and 4-6 for Tanza? :3c
And 10-12 for an oc of choice!
Always glad for many asks :3 Ty very much, let's get going! :D
Aysel
2. What do strangers notice about them first?
Probably either her hair (which is a very bright orange-red), her tattoos (since they're dark against her pale skin and also on her face and readily visible), or the scar on her right cheek!
3. How does their social personality differ from how they act when they’re alone?
Not all that much, honestly--I think the biggest difference is that she is more likely to smile when she's alone than when she's with other people. And the smiles will be a lot wider.
Tanza
I actually just answered these ones here, if you want to see! :D
And for the OC of choice, the random thing picker has given us Ia! Some facts about a tiny sprout child coming right up!
10. What is a weird quality that they have (ie their hands are always cold, they’re always hungry, they snort when they laugh, etc)?
Ia's glow flickers at night, like flames do. This includes the glow in her eyes. It can be kind of unsettling, especially since her glow is white, rather than one of the more often-thought-of flame colors like red or orange.
11. What color do they look strikingly good in?
She's still Baby (as in literally), so she isn't sure yet, but for something that'll give a big contrast and look very cool--anything silvery or white, especially during the day.
12. How do they show affection to someone they love?
She'll talk their ear off, give them hugs (if they want them), and probably ask them about a billion questions about literally anything she's thinking about right then! High-energy small child with plenty of love to give :)

🛏, ♟, 💤 for any beebs that would do well with them!
[ @thoseofuswhoblossom ]
🛏 - Someone by their bedside when they wake up
For Tanza. They're injured at the ending of Champions, and when they wake up, they get Cio standing by their bedside. She misses her mothers, but Cio's the next best thing (someone who understands a lot of what she dealt with, someone who was there for her before during a particularly hard day), and it means a lot.
♟ - Board games/arts and crafts inside
For Tev and Ia. Strategy kiddo Tev loves strategy games, but since both he and his sister are involved, it somehow turns into "who can get as much glitter as possible all over the house." They love it.
💤 - A few extra hours of sleep
For Rel, who never gets enough sleep. I'm making you rest today, buddy. Go cuddle Trahearne a while longer. You deserve it.

🐢🦄 for whichever OC you’d like to answer for! - heraldofaurene
Oh sure sounds good, thanks for the ask @heraldofaurene! :D Let's use the random thing picker...we've got Lifa and Ia today, apparently! (Icebrood Saga spoilers below, and some discussion of injuries, though it's not super graphic.)
🐢: mental health headcanon
Lifa: If you wanted the short version, it's "could be better" asdl;jfsdf :P But to go into a bit more detail, she basically got 80% of the foundation of her world ripped out from under her feet by her (now ex-) partner Weylon and then proceeded to rip out the last 20% herself. Her biggest struggle since then has just been feeling absolutely, completely lost, no matter who she followed or what purpose she tried to give herself. In short, she struggles with depression, but her coping mechanisms are...not great. She's finally at a point story-wise where she has to confront some of this, which'll be a mess in and of itself but will be a step in the right direction.
Ia: This kiddo has ADHD! (As well as newly-acquired trauma from being taken from her family by the NMC, which is...not great, but at least she has a strong support network to help her through it.)
🦄: physical health headcanon
Lifa: Lifa is a bit...melty, at the moment. She's not as terribly off as Bangar (Mr. Ice-In-His-Throat), but she was part of the Frost Legion and had plenty of ice spikes herself. She's dealing with some nerve damage and scarring, and is currently (reluctantly) stuck recovering as much as she can from both in one of the Pact medical tents in Drizzlewood.
Ia: One of the Courtiers stabbed her right hand for an early escape attempt. It severed a couple tendons (or the sylvari equivalent), and though they'll mostly heal well, she'll experience some numbness in the third and fourth fingers of that hand and her grip strength will be a bit weaker.

🍓🍓🍓
Three strawberries--time for the random picker to choose some kiddos! :D Thanks a bunch for the ask! 🍓: Lifa's attitude towards rules is that she'll follow them unless someone who is her superior or she is loyal to for other/additional reasons tells her to break them. For a positive example, she's happy to stand up to her primus on Ari's behalf after Ari rescues her and Weylon (and she officially accepts Ari as part of her warband). For a negative example, while she's working under Bangar, she doesn't even consider questioning him. (I was trying to figure out what alignment that makes her. Somewhere around lawful neutral, I think?) 🍓: When Cyprian accidentally ends up rescuing Ia from the Nightmare Court, she also... "liberates" ...one of the nightmare pups. She names said puppy Ander, but mostly calls him Andy. 🍓: Casca goes through a pretty chaotic period in her life after her half-escape/half-rescue from the Flame Legion. Some of her 'bandmates she can't find, some she thinks are dead, and one she doesn't want to find. She does run into Lifa at one point during this time frame. It doesn't go well. Casca's more or less a gladium at this point, which is the metaphorical straw that breaks the camel's back with regards to her trust in the legions. She wanders around for a short while making trouble for the Flame Legion before tangentially joining the Pact as an independent contractor of sorts shortly before the beginning of PoF.
