ahsoka still calling anakin a 'good master' after everything he fucking did to her oh my god, ENOUGH!
cowboy hat man won't give it a rest. he wants to throw ahsoka in everything and have her ascend to glorified creator's pet status, but he still can't figure out how to feature her without making her whole worth and existence about anakin. a two year relationship that ended with the master nearly murdering his padawan gets to be highlighted repeatedly, as if it was the most emotionally resonant thing to ever happen to ahsoka and anakin. instead of literally any other relationship that could be explored more.
screw ahsoka's other relationships from the jedi temple or the clones. she can hang out with rebels characters who are reduced to hollow husks of themselves while she has the charisma of a plank. but let's remind everyone how special and awesome she is because anakin was assigned to her for a short time. ahsoka is almost fifty years old now, were the options really that limited? screw respecting anakin's kids who achieved their own legacies and played important roles in the rebellion, defying what he chose to become. luke and leia are barely present in these galactic events and it's rare for their names to be mentioned at all. and who the hell is padme at this point?
ahsoka's writing has been unimpressive for a while now and i haven't cared about her story beyond fandom osmosis. but her show probably isn't even servicing people who actually liked her from tcw anymore, it's about whatever caters to filoni's warped perception of these characters.
Not only is it egregious because we know Anakin is a child murderer, Ahsoka NEVER moves on or comes to terms with it! She just keeps wallowing in it so Filoni can wank off to Anakin licking Ahsoka's butthole. Also: two years. There's no way she's near as speshul to him as Padme (the woman he was in love with for 10+ years and his wife) or Obi-Wan (his Master who was like a brother to him, again for over a decade) or Shmi (his freakin' mother and likely his one point of stability in a chaotic childhood as a slave). Don't even tell me that if Anakin was dropped in the World Between Contrived Time Travel he would save Ahsoka over any of them lmao. Or drop her like a hot potato if he had to choose between Ahsoka and Luke, his son and the last remnant he has of Padme (her son), Obi-Wan (guarded and trained by), Shmi (her grandson) and pretty much the one person he was able to commit an act of true, unselfish love for (killing Palps).
I do feel bad for the fans since I've seen plenty of comments that it's "not her" and that RD's portrayal is just so flat and devoid of smirky smugness/cheekiness/whatever. I personally may hate it but it is part of her character. And you're right, why is it only people she isn't connected to? She barely knew the Rebels crew and mostly as Fulcrum, so a professional relationship, not a friendship. Not to mention Sabine being forced into a Jedi Padawan role despite NEVER showing Force sensitivity or any interest in being a Jedi, and she lived with two of them for years. She had plenty of opportunity to ask Kanan if she wanted to be trained! But nah, we gotta give Ahsoka a Padawan and throw in some forced girl power stuff on the side. (As a former little girl who deeply craved female representation in the male-dominated stories I loved, I can tell you, little girls can tell when it's forced.) (Also Sabine choosing to force herself into a Jedi role out of grief for missing Kanan and Ezra instead of actually being into it or confronting her feelings of loss could've been a really interesting character moment. But nah.)
Side note but I also find it interesting that Rex is barely in this show. Wasn't Rex Ahsoka's clone counterpart? They're very close friends? He's still alive and kicking and could help her out? That would be a really cool relationship to explore? Or did Filoni realize he can't whitewash a real Māori man the way he can animated clones?
(Also I saw this ask before bed and woke up thinking about Mara Jade and Jaina Solo, a female teacher-student relationship that was so badass, and now I want Mara Jade being Rey's teacher and helping her confront her relationship to Palpatine and Rey having the guidance of someone who Gets It, can you imagine. We could've had it alllllllll)

Hi there! I saw the screen recording you did for the Aemond gifset (superb work, by the way) and I was wondering if you would be open into doing a step-by-step tutorial on how you played with the colors (what was the graph on the right side of the window?) and how you manipulated the color palette when saving the gifs? No pressure! Was just curious :) Thank you!
Hi there, nonny! Step by step below the cut here.
I don't keep the psd files of my gifs, mostly because I don't have the storage space to do that, so I've made a different gifset of the same scene, so it should be much the same, if not better.
I believe this:
Tumblr media
is the graph you were asking about? This is the histogram. I don't believe it has any practical usage in gifmaking. If any other gifmaker here has a different opinion, please share it. (I'm doing a photography degree, photoshop is my next unit so I'll know more about it soon)
Right, step by step. Hold your horses, this is long:
Step 1: get the clip. Some gifmakers use screen caps to make gifs. I do not know how to make them or how to use them and I find my own method works. If another gifmaker could add on how you make your screen caps, and if it is better than my own method, please add it. 😊
Where you get the clip from is a question. YouTube, somewhere else... as long as it's saved as a MP4 file on you computer/laptop, it doesn't matter. What does matter is the quality of your clips. A lot of people use 4K (super high quality) clips. I find those to be slow and arduous and may have been responsible for the fall of my old, decrepit laptop. HD or UHD are likely enough for some decent quality.
Step 2: Get the clip in the software (I use Adobe Photoshop. For some softwares, you might have to clip the clip i.e. make it shorter before just dumping it in) In Photoshop go to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers and a window will come up. Move the sliders until you have approximately what you want (don't worry about being exact. Just as long as you have what you need.) (Don't forget to click Limit to every 2 frames)
Tumblr media
Step 3: Once the clip has opened and your ready to start, crop out any black/white edges. Then cut out the frames you don't want
Tumblr media
Step 4: We are now ready to begin editing!! 🥳🥳🥳 Editing tends to just be a huge pile of trial and error. I have an order to things, but I often have to go back and adjust my first layers later.
I like to start with the Brightness/Contrast, for obvious reasons (I like to SEE what I'm doing *cough cough* HBO *cough cough*
The I adjust the Hue/Saturation, where I reduce the saturation of each individual colour. That reduction tends to be useful when I make further adjustments in effort to 'fix' as much of the shit colour grading as I can.
The next step is a combination of a Photo Filter (set to the default warming filter) and a Vibrance adjustment layer.
Next the where most of the magic happens. The Colour Balance allows me to adjust the colours in the shadows, midtones and highlights. The aim of this is to attempt to restore some colour. It can look a little weird when editing.
Finally is the Levels. This is a final brightness edit where I add most of my contrast.
Video featuring both sets here. Pause as needed to see the adjustments
Then, change the frame delay to 0.1, or whatever suits your fancy, but 0.1 is the most natural. Then, Click the button in the bottom left corner of the timeline which Converts to Video Timeline, then select all the layers, right click and Convert for Smart Filters.
After this is sharpening, cropping and then exporting. Either File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy) or Alt + Shift + Ctrl + S
Here I change the size. (Usually adjust the height to 540px. Width depends on how I've cropped it. I my source clip excluding black edges was in the ratio 16:9, 540px is usually half that)
If you are uploading gifs to Tumblr, keep an eye of the file size. Tumblr doesn't allow for file sizes about 10MB, although for me it's always been more like 9.5MB. If that number is too high and you have made the gif as short as possible (no more the 50 frames if possible) and you have reduced the size (my limit tends to be about 480px height dependant on my crop ratio), then you change the number of the colours from 256 to NO LESS THAN 200. (lower than this may considerably reduce your quality)
Then you press Undo or Ctrl + Z a few times until you have all of your frames again and then repeat.
And all that can take half an hour or more. Hope this answers the question as well.

11 and 25 for the ask game! 💕
Storytelling Simblr Asks
11. why have you decided to tell this story? are there any messages or meanings within it?
For The Christopher Legacy, it's mostly just my pure love for the Decades Challenge. It's one of the few legacy challenges I've seen that actually feels real because it emphasizes the passage of time as you play through multiple generations. Plus, the 20th century is one of the most fascinating periods in history for me. Each decade really has its own identity because technology, culture, and values were changing so rapidly.
Supernatural Squad is a bit more self indulgent, I'd say, as I'm always a sucker for supernatural/fantasy elements in a mostly realistic setting, as well as found families.
25. what inspirations have you drawn on for your story?
This could also be applicable to the previous question, but I'll put it here. I knew I would reveal this at some point, but I just didn't know when. So I guess it's now!
Both Supernatural Squad and The Christopher Legacy are actually based on save files I had in The Sims 3! I got nostalgic one day and spent hours redownloading the game, only to realize all of my old files had been lost! I still remembered a fair bit, so I compiled the memories I could, and eventually made the decision to try and recreate them in The Sims 4.
With the Christophers, I do have a lot of actual gameplay events that I'm following (I originally made it to at least the 1930s before I fell off the wagon), but there's also a lot of additional story and side characters I'm adding to make the world feel more real and lived in.
Supernatural Squad is more just vibes and drama than anything. The characters were all made to play with the Supernatural pack - hence the vampire, werewolf, witch/spellcaster, and fairy. (I was so freakin' excited when we got werewolves in TS4 just for this purpose, y'all.) I had also made their families and their general backstories, but very little actual gameplay happened. Most of the story that I am creating for them now is unique, but using that TS3 file as a springboard of sorts.

18, 22, 30?
I ramble so I'm gonna answer this under a readmore lmao
Thank you for the ask!!!!! :D
18. Do you like reading? If yes what's your favourite book?
I read a lot when I was younger - my mom's joke was that I was 13 going on 30, she handed me A Game Of Thrones before the TV show came out lol... interesting parenting choice looking back but I really enjoyed reading them. My favorite book is probably Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson; tws apply but they're spoiler-y so I won't get into them here. It's got a really dry gallows sense of humor through the whole book that resonates with me to this day, and I've gone back and reread it a couple times, which I can't think of another book I've done that with.
(Actually, I can, it's Brave New World by Adlous Huxley. IMO it's the best of the older era of dystopian novels insofar as it's actually fun to read. Sorry, Fahrenheit 451, I find your narrative less immediately compelling, although you're probably more important.)
22. Best memory you could think of?
When i was a wee baby intern, I was shadowing an education keeper at a small zoo 5 days a week for the whole summer. A month or so before I started, that zoo had gotten a Harris hawk from another zoo. I spent the first two months of that internship watching my supervisor build a relationship with that bird, helping clean, and train, and desensitizing her to all sorts of things.
Then one day, said supervisor handed me the glove, and told me "go get Maya". And there is something deeply, instinctually, absolutely incredible about having three pounds of apex predator standing on your fist, understanding that you're both trusting each other across whole taxonomic clades and without sharing anything more than time and the fact you're both vertebrates.
It's been four years and I miss that bird every day of my life. She was magnificent.
30. What are your hobbies?
Anything to do with fibercrafts, I dabble in (or intend to... i have a lot of embroidery supplies I haven't dug into yet...). I'm really big on trying to use everything you can, so I have a huge box of fabric scraps I like to make into things - I made myself a Switch case, I'm trying to make a stuffed animal leopard gecko, I'm halfway through a t shirt quilt for my mom, kind of thing. I'm trying to learn how to knit - I'd like to make myself a Doctor Who scarf someday, but I want to make sure I'm putting out consistent quality before I start in on 12 feet of scarf I'll be keeping for the rest of my life. We go through a lot of hay at work, so I've been saving the twine from that and I'm trying to make rugs. They're turning out better than I expected, although the stuff is killer on my fingers, so I can't do too much at once.
On the other side of things, hi I'm a massive nerd, so I play a lot of video games - mostly narrative RPGs, I love Mass Effect, the Half Life franchise, I'm planning on playing the Metro games next after I finish my replay of the Mass Effect trilogy - but I also like my roguelites, I've been getting back into Loop Hero, but Rogue Legacy is always solid, as is FTL. I really loved Subnautica and at some point I need to pick up the DLC for it. Recently I also got into Warhammer 40k, so I've been building an army of Tyranids, and I've been finding that really satisfying; building the minis is methodical, painting is definitely one of those things where the skill floor is pretty low and the skill ceiling is really high, and I've won more games than I've lost; nobody expects you to charge in and eat their face and so it's been a ton of fun doing that >:3
Thanks for the ask!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

jax thoughts.
i really like unbound's writing overall, and i love how its characters have so much life written into them... but in particular, jax unbound has been in my head for quite a while, and i have, in true writer fashion, accumulated some Thoughts on his character.
i've mostly been thinking about jax in relation to him being set up as the storyline's 'hero' leading up to the beginning of the story, the series of events that have him starting to doubt himself, and his development into the end of the storyline...
...so i might as well throw them somewhere! spoilers will most definitely be rampant.
FIRST. what do we know about him at the beginning of the game, and his character arc?
jax is a nice guy! he's always friendly with you, and clearly he cares a lot about you too (he immediately jumps into hoopa's portal to the ruins of void after you, then his worry for you when you don't come out landing him in the distortion world...). he's said to be strong and capable (arthur's been training him, and he calls him their "best hope" against the shadows before the cinder volcano showdown) and he's pretty confident in himself when you first meet him (he immediately says he'll stop the shadows and save moltres when you're visiting arthur, and then again when arthur mentions zapdos afterwards), even though the first few times you meet him, you're mostly kind of helping him do things he thinks he should be able to do — i'll get back to that point later.
anyway. he's a good guy with a good heart. he has a good sense of justice (on route 9 when he says ivory "couldn't possibly want [the prison bottle] for anything but evil", and in cinder volcano when marlon calls his wanting to save moltres "self-righteous"... i could go on.) and acts on it! which brings me to my point, which is that jax gives off the vibes of a hero. he's even got arthur's legacy on his shoulders.
in fact, we get two referrals to him as a hero: from ivory in fallshore city (Your silly attempts to play hero are tiring.) and aklove at crystal peak (Once I'm done dealing with this "hero", [...]).
that is to say: jax is supposed to be the hero.
he's supposed to be the protagonist who brings down the evil, saves the region, and becomes the champion.
ah... right. but he isn't.
you, the player, is the one who does all of this. (though jax is by your side for almost all of that, which is...)
yeah. that's kinda fucked up.
let's just take a step back for now.
jax has clearly been a trainer longer than you have (even in-game, he's able to fly by the time you beat mirskle, and he's the one who tells you to beat a handful of gyms for the hms they let you use), and again, arthur calls him capable and useful in that first meeting. i do want to say that 'useful' is not a very nice thing to call your grandson. jax is also being trained to be arthur's successor, and arthur was the previous champion. that should be pretty testament of what arthur expects of him (it's worth noting, though, that when you talk to arthur after you beat aklove at the ruins of void, he specifically says that jax was cracking under the pressure of his expectations. jax is also human).
you can say that jax is pretty strong, at least for your standards.
so why does he not match up to the shadows, if he's got all of his training and all this praise for being strong and reliable?
i think jax at this point early on in the game, can't see his flaws. this isn't to say he can't grow stronger, because he can — he most definitely can, and he does.
i'm going to go into some theorycrafting now: imagine you've been training. you have been training for a long time, and you're going to eventually become strong enough to be the champion of the region. it's a big goal. you become strong, you beat the eight gyms, and you keep training...
...and perhaps, you might hit a point where you are easily defeating most trainers. where you've been fighting threats to the region and winning (jax says arthur's been making him do this as part of his training. i'm assuming from the fact that these threats haven't really been touched on that jax was successful in fending them off). and at that point, you have to keep getting stronger of your own will. when you lose, you also have an opportunity to reflect on your mistakes or shortcomings and grow to surpass them. you are strong, and from the fact that nobody has become champion while you're training, there aren't that many trainers that can surpass you, probably. so is there really a need to get stronger at that point? if there's nothing to chase after, nothing to push you higher... it's easy to stagnate your growth without knowing where to go next.
and remember: jax wasn't really doing it for his own sake. arthur tells you that jax only begins getting stronger for his own sake after you defeat aklove with him at the ruins of void (it's also after battling you that he tells you his resolve to become stronger as a person, and he promises to come back to take your crown).
...so, what i'm trying to say here is that there's not really anyone who can match jax's raw strength up until the shadows show up. he doesn't seem to have a rival or someone training alongside him to push him forward — you, as the player, kind of fulfil that role as the one who pushes him higher (he comes back to rematch you and declares that he's thought about his shortcomings! and if that ain't enough to say he's been pushed forward by you...). his drive doesn't even come from himself yet at this point.
(also, i just want to point out that jax understands that one of his shortcomings is being rash and rushing into things without taking the proper time to prepare himself (he mentions this after you battle him for the first time). this probably stems from confidence, and, well, you know who's confident in their early arc? you know that confidence builds up if you go pretty long with a constant win streak, right? you get my point.)
continuing on to route 9, the main thing i want to point out is that if you talk to the old couple after you and jax rescue them, they mention that jax "seemed a little put-off by something". and while it's never mentioned again, i wonder if jax is thrown off his game because he thinks he should be able to handle this by himself.
he's strong, right? he's capable and reliable and— and he couldn't prevent ivory from taking the prison bottle. he couldn't stop her from capturing moltres, either, and he couldn't even chase after her because of marlon the first time, and the shadow warrior elderly couple the second. the shadows have showed him up twice now and, if we go by the fact that he's rarely been defeated at this point, it's probably a blow to his confidence.
and if we keep going — skipping past fallshore city, epidimy town and tarmigan town — into dehara city, we see him again at the game corner. talking to him there triggers hoopa sending you to the ruins of void, which (plus its aftermath) is probably the biggest blow to jax's character as it stands in the game.
the fact that he didn't bring any other pokemon other than his staraptor (though you can excuse it a little by the fact that he hadn't expected to jump through the portal with you) is a little tell for his carelessness. he's overconfident and underprepared when he sends staraptor up to the peak of the ruins and you get to see him be uncharacteristically quiet afterwards, because along with the worry he feels for staraptor, he probably regrets that. all he can do now is heal you up, and for someone who got embarrassed over not being able to save moltres at cinder volcano, being utterly useless is loads more embarrassing.
then he gets portaled to the distortion world. it's heroic of him to help you out, battling grunts with his injured staraptor and then heading in when you didn't come out, but you can see him regretting being hasty (I can't believe I could have been so stupid... So stupid... what's Grampa been training me for, if I mess up so easily when it matters most?) and then again once you find the way out, when he walks ahead then slows to a stop and delegates things to you (No... this is a mistake. What am I thinking? If that Pokemon attacks us, I'll just get in the way.) instead of leading the way like he'd been doing before. his slowing to a stop is the physical manifestation of his doubts stopping him.
even when you're back in your world, he does the same thing: rushing ahead to the exit of rift cave, slowing, then returning to you. and he says this: "[PLAYER], being trapped in there taught me a lot of things... But most importantly, it's taught me I'm nothing without my Pokemon. I never want to find myself being so useless to anyone again. [...] I promise both my Pokemon and I will be ready this time."
i like the inclusion of himself a lot, because it means that he's realised that he still has to grow too. and he cements that with his champion battle dialogue ([...] even if my Pokemon grow stronger, what use is it if I don't grow stronger with them? So, I'm going to get stronger. Not just my Pokemon. Me.) and also his rematch dialogue (I'll focus myself, and my connection with my Pokemon again.) by acknowledging again and again that he'll keep growing. here, you're still yet to save the region, so there's an obvious goal for him to head towards, but he keeps going even after that. and that really just declares that he's found someone to push him higher.
and that's you.
i don't think i even have to say anything, but i will say it anyway... the ruins of void, distortion world and rift cave sequences are a huge, huge turning point for jax. this is the crucial mistake that kickstarts his necessary growth. perhaps it was a mistake he needed to make, even, because i don't think crystal peak, let alone battling you for the champion title, would have worked out without him reflecting on it in the distortion world.
if we return to the hero narrative, there's one important scene i skipped earlier: epidimy town. after you stop marlon at thundercap mt and meet jax in epidimy town, he says one last thing in a whisper: "You're really amazing, [PLAYER]... I mean... all by yourself, you..." and while this absolutely can be taken as awe, i think the reason he says this to himself and not to you directly might actually be envy. he's envious that you can do the thing he couldn't — you managed to stop marlon from getting zapdos, while he failed in stopping ivory from getting moltres and the prison bottle. and you did it by yourself, without his help. he probably feels that he isn't living up to arthur's legacy and what arthur expects of him.
perhaps you're the one who suits the role of 'hero' more than he does.
i admire that jax doesn't give up. he keeps going, and unfortunately that lands him in the ruins of void and distortion world, which make him realise something important: that he's lacking in places. that he's not yet fit to be the 'hero'. that he needs to grow and become stronger before he can fill that role.
i like to think that he entrusts that role to you at crystal peak. it's the first time he shows that he's carefully planned out his approach to defeating aklove, even though it's not perfect, and he calls on you to stop aklove and turn off the weapon — you're the 'hero' now, after all. still, this brings promise to his character, and shows that he's growing!
and to bring it closer to the end of the game: the champion battle. a detail i would like to point out is that when you battle him for the champion title (on vanilla / difficult), at least four of his six pokemon know protect. his type coverage is pretty well-rounded in terms of defense, too. i think it's really neat that his pokemon actually reflect his growth from the ruins of void and he focuses on being able to defend himself so he won't be totally useless without his pokemon ever again.
jax is a good guy. he's nothing but happy for you, and he knows he has a long way to go before he can match up to you, and he accepts his defeat knowing that you're the one suited to be the 'hero'. and then he works hard in order to be able to stand in the same room as you again, closing the gap little by little.
one last thing... his rematch dialogue.
"I've been thinking long and hard about what I've been lacking..."
holy shit.
he mentions something similar in your first battle (You know, before we began our fight, I kept thinking about all the times I rushed in, and then you helped bail me out.) too, but the fact that he says this out loud again really makes me feel proud because he's acknowledging his shortcomings and tackling them instead of staying quietly put-off by them...
he also mentions before rematching you that he's here not because of arthur's legacy or even about himself. he sees you as someone strong, and that probably means that battling you is an opportunity to grow stronger. and this ties in to the fact that the line he says when he's down to a single pokemon (The way you always manage to summon so much strength... it's amazing...) really parallels that line from epidimy town (You're really amazing, [PLAYER]... I mean... all by yourself, you...).this time, when he calls you amazing, he sounds a little more in awe. he respects you! and even if you defeat him, he picks himself up and treats it as a challenge to come back and beat you again.
and if that's not growth... god. i fucking love jax unbound.

Top 5 Game Series That Need The N.Sane Treatment
Crash Bandicoot was a series that hadn't been seen for years until the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy was revealed to the world. Thanks to this trilogy, not only was the franchise revitalized but we also got a sequel for Crash Warped in the form of Crash 4: It's About Time.
This is a recipe that could potentially bring games lost in obscurity back into the limelight but even a chance for new games to come. Here are some of my picks!
1. Jak and Daxter
Tumblr media
One of the games that seriously needs the N.Sane Trilogy treatment. Jak and Daxter was a game series made by Naughty Dog that would inspire many platforms after. It stars the Demolition Duo, Jak and his partner ottsel, Daxter, on incredible adventures that change in tone over each game. You begin with a goofy island adventure to a dark futuristic playground as new mechanics get introduced.
Out of the main trio which consists of Jak, Sly, and Ratchet, Jak was actually the first game I played amongst them. A series that needs a comeback especially with the Easter Eggs often seen in Ratchet and Clank games throughout the years.
Touch up the graphics into a different style depending on the game, the Precursor Legacy be a bit more cartoony in appearance like Crash 4, and then switch to a style similar to the N.Sane Trilogy for the darker games like Jak 2 and 3.
Adjust the controls to run smoother, change difficulty of certain games like lower the difficulty of Jak 2 a smidge and place an optional mode to play with the original difficulty.
This would lay down the groundwork for an actual proper sequel, Jak X feels more like a side game while Lost Frontier is a snore fest.
If Naughty Dog doesn't take this route and continues pushing out flavorless games, I suggest any decent company that can do should buy the rights to Jak and Daxter. This is a gold mine covered in dust that needs to come back!
2. Sly Cooper
Tumblr media
Yep! We're going to the other member of this once legendary trio, Sly Cooper. Sly Cooper was the second game series from Sucker Punch that I played, the first being Infamous series.
This game revolves around a group of thieves who steal from criminals and tend to get wrapped up in saving the world a few times or battling enemies out to end the bloodline of the main character, Sly Cooper, who comes from a legendary family of thieves.
Before the series disappeared into discontinuity, we had a total of 3 main games alongside one made by Sanzaru. Sanzaru's Thieves of Time was decent but midway World 3, the quality seriously declined and left fans with a very unsatisfied ending. Perfect for crossovers but terrible for the franchise.
Giving this game the N.Sane Trilogy treatment would not only give a more successful chance than attempts to make a movie, but it could to more proper sequel than Sanzaru's version. Use a design similar to Sanzaru's or go for a more rounded one like N.Sane Trilogy.
Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart even had an Easter Egg with Sly in it too! Insomniac acknowledges that these game series still exist by dropping these little nuggets of nostalgia, take the hint and bring back the Legendary Playstation Trio!
3. Spectrobes
Tumblr media
Nintendo's alternate version of Pokemon. Spectrobes is a trilogy game series that debuted on the DS and last game was made for the Wii.
This series revolves around Rallen and Jeena, two members of the Nanairo Patrol, as they search for the fossils of creatures of light known as Spectrobes to find the planet devouring darkness known as Krawl.
You travel through various planets to uncover different kinds of fossils and some very interesting or whacky but loveable characters. It has elements similar to Fossil Fighters where you have to dig up fossils before awakening them. Care for your Spectrobes to battle the Krawl.
The evolving battle system, new mechanics, various locales and the unique design of each Spectrobe were something I loved but pretty sure many would like too. It even had a book and a mini series on YouTube! The game's graphics could take a route similar to Rayman Legends or Dragonball FighterZ.
Don't go for Jump Force please. We need actual expression than stiff faces and aggravating screams.
This is game series worth bringing back even if it just gets a remake.
4. Golden Sun
Tumblr media
Another Nintendo franchise that needs return from obscurity. Golden Sun was a JRPG that came along systems like the Gameboy Advance during a severe lack of games for it. It revolves around different groups of people who use Psynergy, their version of alchemy, to battle evil as they travel the realm of Weyward.
A great game series enriched by its many characters, lore, growing battle system such as Djnn and Summons to turn the tide in battles, unique story and all sorts of areas to explore.
The biggest dent to the franchise was Dark Dawn because of its questionable ending that left many players confused or dissatisfied despite the incredible graphics, plot and character interactions. After that no one has heard a single word about any sequel.
The N.Sane Treatment would not only bring the franchise back for fans both new and old but can actually fix the questionable ending for Dark Dawn. Graphic style, um, I guess something similar to Dragon Quest or maybe Persona. Persona would be the better option considering how you choose how the main character responds to certain situations.
This series has been done dirty and deserves a second chance like this.
5. Kid Icarus
Tumblr media
A Nintendo franchise that shows bringing back old games can revitalize a lost series.
This game series is at the bottom for a decent reason actually. Masahiro Sakurai has been hearing requests about porting one of the games, Uprising, to the Switch. Something that he sounds like he wants to do but there is a problem as he admits it would be difficult.
How Uprising is made for the 3DS such as the dual screens, and specific use of the touch screen for combat. Something that can't easily be translated to something like the Switch without decent changes.
The game revolves around the angel Pit, who fights the evil forces of the Underworld with assistance from his Goddess Palutena. Each game changes the rules of battle with the greatest being Uprising as you combat various creatures and even bosses revolve mostly around Greek mythology.
I think the N. Sane Trilogy can work with this. The first Kid Icarus and the second Of Myth and Monsters might be what could provide the missing pieces for the Uprising Switch Port Situation.
Both games could be completely restyled in a format that could be similar to Zelda since in these games, your options of weapons are limited and you have to think smart for particular puzzles.
They can be used to lay down a format that can built on for an Uprising Remake since Land Battles are one half of the essential gameplay. The graphics can be Uprising since it's already a perfect that just needs to be brushed up a bit.
When it comes to Super Smash Brothers, Sakurai worked hard to make characters like Minecraft Steve or Fighting Game fighters such as Ryu and Kazuya fit into the gameplay even if it meant changing about every hitbox and aspect of the stages. A little help can go a long way.
That's what I've got for now. If I find anymore games that need the N. Sane Trilogy then I'll put em in a new list. Until next time folks!

Ep 4: Gen 2 is here!
Scoring Sheet and Family Tree
First off, I just want to reiterate that while I am calling this a Pseudo-Legacy Challenge, the rules are used as more like suggestions. I am giving myself points mostly as something to do/goals to help myself not get bored, which is also why I am posting on Tumblr. I have mods that would 100% break the rules but this save is mostly for my own amusement. I may also make lifespans long as opposed to normal, idk yet. No one said anything, it's just on my mind.
Anyway, my goal for today is to add the second floor to the house, have the first child and get trash fruit. Still want an orchid, so I will also try looking for that. Also, side note, I never mentioned it but the Zilver family is Jewish. Just because.
Anna and Michael tried for a baby at the very end of ep 3, but I didn't have her take a test intentionally. I was saving it for this time. I had Anna take a test and she's Eating for Two! :D I want Anna and Michael to have at least two kids. If it's a boy, he will be named Benjamin and if it's a girl, she will be Brielle.
Tumblr media
Also, I added Michael to the Zilver club. Now we can start gatherings. After Anna rummaged in the trash, there was a pile of trash on the floor, so I moved it outside far from the house. Trash Plant. I also bought a coop, to fulfil Michael's aspiration and use eggs as a source of income. We got two chickens, one brown, one white named Nugget and Cricket.
Also, as the lot was named Olde [something] Hill, I made the terrain a hill before I made the house but I am regretting it so I may make the terrain flat.
Anyway, while Anna slept, Michael got to know the new chickens. Once she woke up, Anna went to the library to work on her law work. Afterwards, Anna got a laptop out of nowhere which promptly disappeared. Weird. Anyway, soon my sims were off to work and did a bit of landscaping, making a flat little area for plants and chickens which I will henceforth call the Farm Pit.
Tumblr media
Got a third chicken and named her Midnight. I like to have three chickens, so I can have 1 evil, 1 golden and 1 normal. Anna came home and she was promoted to paralegal :D I noticed, among other things, Anna has to pass an exam to get to the next level of her career. I think that's neat. Michael got a dahlia from work and Anna, now in her second trimester went to bed. I feel like I've been giving too much of a play-by-play, so I'm trying to only mention the plot stuff.
At midnight on Thursday, I look at Anna's relationship profile and see this.
Tumblr media
Derek died late Monday or early Tuesday. I'm just... I think the worst part is that they took Derek's name. Anyway, I did some landscaping in the Farm Pit when Anna woke up I gave her the Experimenter spellcaster perk. Both my sims went to work and after Michael got promoted and I got to pick his branch. I chose Botanist. Because it pays more. When Anna got home from work, we finally had enough money for a second floor. House is not the most beautiful, but I think it's cute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next morning, literally right as Anna was heading to work, she went into labour. Great timing, game. We went right to the hospital.
Tumblr media
It's a Girl! Welcome, Brielle Zilver. She has the normal bassinet so she might be human. We'll see when she ages up. Either way, I will probably have her and Michael try for another baby soon as I want each gen to have at least two kids.
Tumblr media
After we brought Brielle home, I noticed the garbage I put on the edge of the lot was finally a trash plant so I moved it to the Farm Pit. When everyone got home, Cecilia invited Anna to the spice festival so we went to that. Much to my surprise, Anna won the Spice challenge on her first try and got the spicy tee-shirt. We also bought some curry, chilli powder, saffron and wasabi at the festival.
Tumblr media
After Anna went home from the festival, she went to bed. The next day I was planning on having her work on her requirements for work but everything decided it was broken and nothing worked so I closed my game. Thus ends ep 4

Hey so I played DAI and fell in love with it and its characters easily my all time favorite game now and I've been thinking about playing some of the previous games. Is there one you would reccomend? Any particular hurdles with playing older games in the series (essential mods ect) or are they games that's fun to reminisce on but are hard to play in the modern era of gaming? I really appreciate any insight you have on this! Thanks!
Heya!
Okay so generally speaking? I would recommend both Origins and 2, especially if it's the companions and banter you like about Inquisition because they are easily my favourite parts of the other games as well. DA2 seems to get the most hate thrown at if from what I've seen, partly I think because it's production was pretty rushed and it shows (it does have its fair share of writing issues as well but that's another can of worms), but personally I still enjoyed it a lot.
I don't know how picky you are about graphics because obviously they are a little dated for both games, though I myself never had a problem with them (but I don't have a problem with older graphics in general, so,,,), and there's plenty of cosmetic mods out there to spice things up. As far as mod recs go I'm afraid I can't be much of a help because I haven't used any mods so far for either game ^^"
Other than that they do both have their pros and cons so it depends a lot on what you're looking for since their style does differ a lot. So for example..
Origins's combat system is much more fleshed out strategical than 2's, which is more straight forward and mostly hack-and-slash, but at the same time DAO's is also a lot slower and more tedious.
Since you asked about mods I'm assuming you're on PC, so key bindings shouldn't be an issue since you can remap them (the default should be very similar for both games though).
DA2's interface is objectively neater and more organised, but DAO's is more immersive imo.
Origins has quite a few extensive dungeons, while DA2's are very short but also repetitive, as it reuses maps a lot.
DAO's main plot is pretty much the high fantasy standard of "hero an co. go on a world-saving quest to defeat the big evil dragon", but its side quests, lore and general atmosphere are great imo, whereas DA2's story is much more condensed and focused on the political unrest in Kirkwall and the protagonists personal tragedy story. Origins is more gritty and grim but also more epic and heroic, while DA2 is less dark on the surface but also feels much more personal and down to earth in a way.
DAO lets you choose from one of six origin stories while in 2 you always play as Hawke.
DAO's protagonist is silent, Hawke is voiced and can adapt one of 3 base tones that change depending on dialogue choices.
DAO's approval system is more like DAI's, with approval and disapproval, while DA2 has a friendship/rivalry system.
Origins is also more gory than the other two games, as in there are a couple parts in the game that are genuinely really gross (at least I find them to be very gross), but not because it's excessively gory per se? Idk if that makes sense but a lot of the icky-ness comes from the context I'd say, but it's really well done, as in it fits the overall tone of the game perfectly. Just thought I'd mention it
Oh an most importantly, you get to have a dog in both games.
Edit: Forgot to mention DLC so I thought I'll do that real quick! For Origins has a few bonus campaigns, of whoch I'd highly recommend the Awakening expansion. It introduces some important characters and is comparable to Trespasser I'd say. Witch Hunt is intetesting too, Leliana's song is a prequel focusing on Leliana's backstory. The Darkspawn Chronicles are... interesting? But the weakest out of the expansions imo. Soldier's Peak has some lore about the Grey Wardens, Return to Ostagar gives some closure to what happened at the start of the game, and Stone Prisoner gives you an extra companion who's fun to have around imo.
DA2's Legacy DLC is really good, bring your sibling if you can becausr it reveals some things about Malcom Hawke. It's fairly relevant to the lore and plot of Inquisition (which you'll already know but it might still be interesting). Mark of the Assassin is... mediocre, if you ask me. It does have some hilarious banter though.
So yea.. dunno if this helps any, but tldr I would recommend both games for different reasons ^^
