Anniversary (Y/N Ulrich Universe)

Late august, 2022

After nearly two months of filming, the production of Scream VI ended and to celebrate, a wrap party was organized on the terrace of the building were everyone had been living, which had a similar vibe to all the mini parties, game nights and dinners that were held there, but this would be the last time everyone will be in the same place until the premiere in march

During the time in Montreal, you spend it with your dad, the cast, and most important, Jack (and his mom)

Since the moment both of you talked for the first time in the welcome party and then the first date, both of you became inseparable feeling an instant conection since those first moments, and now with end of filming you were going to miss seeing him everyday, yes, the calls and text exist but it wouldn't be the same

That night was being a blast until the moment with all the food, drinks, dancing, karaoke and everyone in nice outfits (your choice for that night was a pastel pink tank top, a black tennis skirt, platform ankle black boots and your southside serpents jacket and your hair in a half up ponytail with a pink ribbon)

"Hey, can we talk in a more private place?", Jack asked you with his hand on your back while the karaoke continued

"Yeah, sure", you nodded

Leaving the empty glasses that once had virgin coktails on a table near them, Jack guided both of you, with his hand still on your back, to a little private part of the terrace, which was a small corner that was more or less covered by some plants and flowers

"So, what do you want to talk about?", you asked with an eager smile

"I like you", those three words that just came out of his mouth were enoough to make your breath get stuck in your throat, "Since the first time we talked to our first date to this day, I've been developing feelings towards you, and I know it's only two months and a half since we met, but I feel a strong conection between us and you know -"

"Jack", you interrupted him mid speach at what he looked at you like a deer in headlights, "Oel ngati kameie", you said refering to that phrase of Avatar that you learned the meaning and how to pronounce it when both of you watched the movie in his room after you told him that you hadn't seen it, "I like you too, I've been feeling this since our first days together, but I didn't say anything because I didn't know if you felt the same, but I'm glad we feel the same"

"Yeah, me too", Jack nodded followed by small laughter between both of you, "Do you want to be my girlfriend?"

"I would love to", you smiled

Asking for permission to kiss you which was granted, Jack took your cheeks with his hands to bring close your faces while you put your hands on his waist due to the height difference, finally connecting their lips in a kiss that lasted a few seconds, until both of you listened the start of a song that made you separate but still keep your faces close to each other

"They really put 'Lover' right now?", you laughed

"I kinda tell Mason what I was planning", Jack explained, "So it must be him who put the song"

Still laughing, both of you shared another kiss before joining hands to go back to the others

Late august, 2023

Now, a year later, you were currently in the floor of your room preparing the box that was going to serve as the package for the gifts you bought two weeks prior, while Tatum played with one of her toys in your lap

After seeing a tik tok about a girl doing a box that the moment you remove the top it will open revealing a bunch of photos and sweet messages, you decided to try to do it, so now you were surrounded by the box, printed photos of both of you and things that connected you, scissors, glue, markers, paper and your laptop open in Pinterest while your playlist was sounding in a medium volume

"Tornado, everything good?", Skeet asked entering your room with a glass of orange juice, "Need some help?"

"I'm good at the moment, thank you dad", you said taking the glass to drink it, "What do you think about the box?"

"It looks nice", Skeet responded sitting on the floor next to you paying attention to the screen, "Are you searching photos of both of you on Pinterest? Why?"

"Because, for every photo I had of Jack and I on my phone there are twenty on Pinterest, some that I didn't know they existed, and also I'm putting some fanarts"

"People are doing fanarts of both of you? That's great"

"I know, my favorite is one of us in our looks of the Scream premiere but with ghostface masks, I'll send it to you later"

"At least it isn't a blanket with Jack's face on it", Skeet joked refering to the gift a fan gave you during the Fan Expo in Denver

"That was creative", you laughed taking a glance of the blanket that was laying on your bed, "And still want to know the reaction of the page when that girl ordered it"

"You should do the same"

"I don't have enough time for that, and I'm saving that for his birthday"

"What did you get him again?"

"A little chain with my initial and a stuffed baby cow, because he sent me a tik tok about them saying they were so cute, and the box of course"

"Even if all my relationships with your mom, Amelia, Rose, Lucy and other girlfriends didn't work, I'm happy that you and your siblings are in happy and healthy relationships with amazing people"

"Dad, you are going to make me cry and the tears are going to fall on the pictures, and I'd have to print them again", you joked making him laugh, "But thank you, I really apreciate it"

"It's what I'm here for", Skeet simplified getting up from the ground with the help of your vanity chair, "I'm going to buy some things, do you need something?"

"I'm running out of pads and tampons, you remember the brand and type I use?"

"I got it on my note app"

"Okay, thanks dad, and can you buy me a pumpkin spice latte with little ice and a pup cup for Tatum, please?"

"I'll see what I can do"

"Thank you", you exclaimed while he was already out of your room, "You're the best!"

When the day arrived, you woke up thanks to your phone ringing by a videocall from Jack which you answered still a little asleep, but still the call lasted for at least an hour until both of you had to go to prepare everything for the afternoon

And even so, he still did not tell you where you would go

"Wear something pretty", was the only thing he said

So, thanks to that only information and thanks to a shopping spree you made that same week, you got a blue with small flowers sundress to wear no matter the place he took you, straightened your hair adding a pearl headband, did your make up, added accessories and prepared your bag with your things, and the only thing left was the choice of shoes

"Dad, what shoes do I wear, the pink heeled sandals or the white nike sneakers?", you asked standing in the stairs with both shoes in hands while Tatum went down to climb onto the kitchen island, "I don't know where is he taking me, so I'm kind in a crisis right now"

"First, you look nice, second, both will look good but if you are going to walk a lot, the sneakers, if it's going to be somewhere relaxed were you are going to be sitting, the heeled ones", Skeet responded giving Tatum some fruit, "Which bag are you going to take?"

"The white Lady Dior, the one they sent me on my birthday"

"That one matches with everything"

"Dad, you're not helping", you cried going back to your room

"You cannot scape now", Skeet said looking at the orange cat, "It's too late for that"

Twenty minutes later, the door was knocked at what Skeet went to answer, seeing Jack with a bouquet of flowers on the other side smiling

"Hi", Jack greeted

"Hey kid", Skeet returned the greeting letting him enter the house, "You look good"

"Thanks, I'm going to take her to Pacific Park to recreate our first date, so I wanted to wear something comfortable", Jack said aproaching Tatum to scratch her between her ears

With that new information, Skeet aproached the start of the stairs

"Tornado, use the sneakers!"

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, trust me", was the last thing Skeet said before returning to the kitchen area, "She's coming in a minute, do you want something, water?"

"Sure, thanks", Jack nodded

"So, an amusement park, just like La Ronde back in Montreal?", Skeet asked

"Yeah, that was our first date and was special so I thought that going again to an amusement park was the right thing"

"Except for the part that there won't be adults this time", Skeet joked causing Jack to laugh, "You know I'm not a strict dad, but I want her here at midnight, and if you feel tired to drive to your house you can stay here to sleep, understood?"

"Totally", Jack nodded

"I'm ready!", you anounced getting down from the stairs with a white jean jacket, your purse and the box gift in your arms, "Sorry for the delay, I had a small fashion emergency"

"Don't worry, it's okay", Jack smiled looking at your whole look, "You look amazing"

"Thanks, you look handsome as well", you smiled looking at him

"These are for you", Jack said handing you the bouquet of flowers

"They're gorgeous, thank you", you responded taking them in your hands

"Kids, before you go I want to take some photos", Skeet interrupted the moment taking his phone out, "Don't worry about the flowers, I'll put them in water"

Leaving your things on the kitchen counter, both of you stand in the living room, the window ot the backyard and in the backyard for some photos, before going to the date

"So, where are we going?", you asked once the car started

"Somewhere", was Jack's only response before starting the way towards Pacific Park

When the amusment park started to be on sight, you turned to look at Jack with a big smile on your face, while he had the same expression occuping an empty parking space

"An amusment park?", you asked still smiling

"Yeah, do you like it?"

"I love it!"

Leaving the gift boxes in the trunk to open them later, both of you walked inside the park noticing it was a quiet night with not many people in there

"Where do you want to go first?", Jack asked

"Maybe the rollercoaster", you suggested, "I mean, so we can eat peacefully after that"

"That's a great idea", Jack agreeded, "We don't need to throw up again"

"No we don't", you laughed

Hand in hand, both of you walked to the rollercoaster to stand in line and wait until it was your turn to ride the game, taking advantage of the wait line to take some pictures and videos

After being in the ride and concluding it wasn't as intense as the same in Montreal, the route along other rides and games continued, in which he won a stuffed turtle that he gave to you, and later when you won a boba tea plushie that you gave to him

Taking a small break to eat, both of you decided to get two types of pizza to share and two sodas

"This has been fun", you commented taking a sip of your cherry soda

"And we don't have to worry about throwing up", Jack joked, "I was so embarrased after that"

"I was worse", you laughed, "The first thing we did after the ride ended was run to the closest trash can and throw up, not even different one, it was the same"

"Our parents stood there for a few seconds before helping us, and then after we finished they left us sitting on a bench to get some water, and we started to laugh"

"The next morning we didn't left our rooms because we felt sick", you finished, "I can't believe it's been already a year"

"Time flies", Jack nodded, "Remember when we kept the relationship private?"

"Three and a half months, it was fun because everyone was keeping the secret with us"

"And when we went public everyone was more relaxed"

Interrupting the moment, your phone started to sound at what you pulled it out noticing it it was Scott wanting to do a videocall

"Should I answer?", you asked Jack, "We're on our anniversay date"

"It might be important", Jack shrugged

Sighing, you anwered the call focusing both of you faces, seeing Scott face a few seconds later

"Hey mom and dad", Scott greeted, "Happy anniversary"

"Hey, my child", you greeted, "And thank you"

"What's up?", Jack spoke, "Everything good?"

"Yeah, sorry for interrupting your date but I needed to tell you this", Scott said, "I know it's still august and that, but I'm going to be in town for the Halloween weekend and I decided to throw a party"

"Sounds cool", Jack smiled

"I already told the others, and I'm assigning themes per person, couple or group, yours is Scream"

"This was intentional, right?", you joked

"Of course it was", Scott laughed, "And I don't want to see you repeating your looks of this last movie, you're an influencer/VFX make up artist and you're an actor, I need to see creativity!"

"We'll do our best", you promised, "Wait a second, did you call me an influencer?"

"Honey, you've been one since the day you hit ten thousand followers on instagram", Scott justified, "Now you have more than two million there and a million on tik tok, you are one"

"Can I bring some friends?", Jack asked

"Of course, the more the merrier", Scott exclaimed, "But I need their names for the list"

"Willa and Romeo"

"So, you're following Heidi Klum party style?", you joked

"I don't want people I don't know or like in my house, K and B for example", Scott explained, "But after you ended them on the late prom they won't dare to be in the same space as you, by the way, I'm going to assign Willa and Romeo Barbie as a theme"

"Okay, we'll let them know", you nodded

After saying goodbye and ending the call, both of you finished eating and continued with some relaxed attractions, until it was half an hour to the closure time that both of you decided to go to a more comfortable place to open the gifts which was a small picnic table next to some food stands in the Santa Monica pier

"Here's your gift", Jack smiled sliding a big soft yellow box towards you

"And here's yours", you also smiled sliding the big blue box you spend almost a week making towards him, "Want to start?"

"Sure", Jack nodded

Standing from the table to lift the top, the box openned from the four sides revealing the baby cow with the medium jewerly box and al the pictures and words on the interior

"This is incredible", Jack exclaimed examining the box causing your smile to increase, "I love it, the baby cow plushie is so cute"

"The tik tok you sent me of baby cows and how cute they were were the reason I bought it", you explained, "The box was also an idea I saw on there and I thought it was so creative that I had to do it"

"It's so beautiful, thank you so much gorgeous"

Taking the jewerly box in this hands, Jack openned it to see a delicate gold chain with your initial in a small size so it will be comfortable to wear

Without saying a word, Jack was quick to walk to you and take your cheeks to kiss you, at what you responded placing your hands on his neck

"I love this so much, and I love you", Jack said the moment the kiss ended, "Can you help me put it on?"

Nodding, you stand up from your seat, while he sat in your side of the bench, to retire the collar from the box and put it around his neck securing the clasp

"There it is", you said, "How does it feel?"

"It's perfect", Jack responded, "It's your turn now to open it"

Still smiling, you sat by his side to open your gift box, revealing an himalayan salt lamp, a jellycat of a bashful sloth and a jewerly box

"It's the salt lamp that I saw once on instagram", you exclaimed taking it out to examine it, "It's beautiful"

"I know you'll love it", Jack smiled, "And also a jellycat of one of your favorite animals"

"You're killing me of love", you exclaimed making him laugh

Taking the jewerly box, you openned it to reveal a gold chain with his initial

"No way we thought the same for the gifts", you joked sitting on the bench again

"You almost all the time are singing 'Call It What You Want' and that part of the song was the one that made me gift you the collar", Jack explained, "After I saw your gift I realised that we are completely connected because we thought the same to give each other"

"I love it", you smiled, "Can you help me to put it?"

Nodding, Jack took the neckale from your hands while you pullep up your hair so it would be easy to put it

After he finished putting it, both of you shared a kiss before sitting there and contemplate the view with your head on his shoulder and his on top of yours with your hands intervined

"Jack, oel ngati kameie"

"Oel ngati kameie, Y/N"

Hi sorry for being the least normal person on the planet about this but I saw you rbing some The Locked Tomb stuff and it's only been like a week or two since I got extremely into the series and it's nice to see someone I follow also show interest in it around the same-ish time as me! Can I ask abt your take on the books so far n fav character/s?

well I've only read the first book (I'm definitely interested in continuing with the series but I probably won't get to it for a while, esp. since I wanna get back into playing Ace Attorney games, as playing a visual novel kinda takes up the same time slot in my day as reading a novel, yk?) so there's def stuff I don't know abt yet.

but anyway yeah! I did really enjoy it. I appreciate the comedy in it, which I wasn't really expecting since like the cover art is so grim and it opens with some really dense politics stuff and a bunch of long names (that I just know should be pronounced with a british accent but I can't really make my head voice do that) and like the actual plot is very serious with deaths and stuff but nonetheless This Book Has Jokes

and its best when they're the dumbest, simplest jokes you could think of and Gideon says them out loud because thats the kind character she is. love her

Palamedes is great too because he entertains Gideon's antics while also being the one most focused on solving the mystery castle puzzles. (this girl who's been here for like a month and has never spoken a word to anyone is talking to me now? and she's rude? thats fine I'll just roll with it). he's also like the most normal dude in the whole cast. you feel comfortable when he's around

(btw what the hell was up with the thing he discovered about the rooms in Canaan House being from different time periods? like the different rooms are literally different ages? I don't think that was ever explained or brought up again???)

Also, for "lesbian fiction" being basically the one thing everyone says about this series, I was kinda surprised at the lack of a romantic plot in this one? I mean maybe there will be more of that in the other books idk, but like. ok so from the beginning it's very clear that Gideon and Harrow are gonna be the main pair here. and I was a little skeptical they were gonna be able to sell me on that because of where their relationship started, but nahhh I had nothing to worry about. they were meant for each other and enemies to lovers works great it turns out. but like. their relationship definitely improves a lot over the course of the story, but most of the time they don't talk to each other about anything but their jobs. its all bones and skeletons and locked doors with them.

don't get me wrong it has strong gay vibes all the way through (and Gideon is constantly commenting on how hot other women are, which is great) but at no point are Harrow and Gideon actually like. dating. closest they got was when I think it was implied they fucked once, after the pool scene. which like, good for them, I'm glad they got the opportunity to do that before, ah, y'know.

speaking of which I have NO clue what'll happen next based on how it ended. and the brief glimpse of the emperor at the very end was not at all what I expected, so that's curious as well...

OH yeah and speaking of the empire. uh at least the copy of the book that I have has a bunch of bonus material at the end, like in-universe essays and reports (and a pronunciation guide where I frustratingly learned I'd been reading half the characters' names wrong). and ONLY in that bonus material was it ever acknowledged that other inhabited planets exist outside of the empire. like for the whole book it kinda seems like there are nine planets that comprise the empire, and that's it. no humans anywhere else in the universe. no life outside the empire.

sure, the Cohort supposedly fights "enemies of the empire" but that's all that's ever said about that. could be like evil skeletons or some other kind of space monster for all we know. but no there ARE other civilizations, which I guess might be at war with the necromancers? it's cool to know that, that this story's universe is bigger than we've seen, and if I had to guess I'd say bigger than we probably ever will see, since there's still so many ghost/death mysteries and House history stuff our beloved necros have yet to solve.

I was reading ur post about the Brazilian education system (which sounds fucking incredible by the way) and it reminded me of smth

I have no intention of becoming a teacher, but my sister is one and she works in a primary school (her class is ages 5-6), and when she was in university she showed me loads of things about the reflecting realities study

I think it was made in 2017 and it was a study on how well children's books reflected the world around us, ie how many books published had protagonists of colour and obviously the results were dire

I'd have to look it up but there were very few people of colour and a hell of a lot of white characters, but what was especially interesting was that when Black Lives Matter got more prevelence last year a lot of publishing houses got put under pressure to add more people of colour in their books

And when the 2020 reflecting realities study came in and while there was more people of colour and less white people, the number of animals being the main protagonists completely jumped up

And it's just terrible because of stories with main casts of animals still fall into the exact same racist stereotypes. Like often they follow the protagonist of a cute fluffy animal as they struggle against the predetory snake or bear, both of which are completely different to them physically and explicitly a threat - this could also be stranger danger

And I mean, what's worse is when they're consciously trying to use animals as an allegory - I mean Zootopia? Anyone? Disney making the allegory for people of colour into literal predetors really wasn't the woke moment they thought it was

And I was just thinkinf about how this kind of follows through into the fantasy genre. I'm gonna be tentative here because Im no expert on this so call me out if you think I'm wrong. Like I'm glad that the shadowhunters cadting directors hired more actors of colour to the team because othereise it would be overwhelmingly pasty, I can't help but notice the decision to cast Luke, the only black man, as an animal and how they changed his character entirely as well

Because (this is not pro cc) Luke in the books was a gentle white bookshop owner, and the show changed him into a cop, and the second time we see him or so he's been injured from fighting (ie not depicted as gentle) ? For some reason (this could just be for plot purposes but u know) There's whole essays online about how media uses black cops in shows and movies to prevent criticism against them but that's a whole other post

(tentative again but do you think that it was kidn of to distance itself from real world issues? Like shadowhunters can obviously be read as the fantasy police force, but by making Luke a downworlder and a cop I feel like maybe they're moving as far away from being properly critical as they can)

That being said, I love show Luke I think he's fantastic, and I way prefer his competancy instead of wimpy white book Luke but I think he can fit the trope in media where characters of colour are depicted as animalistic, ie TWILIGHTs wolves being all native people!!! and I feel like often it just helps to reinforce a lot of the aggressive stereotyoes against poc

Idk how to finish this. In conclusion publishing houses seem to find it easier to publish stories about animals than people of colour and that's a big fat problem. Also how instead of you know publishing books by authors of colour several responded to criticism by just rereleasing collections of classics with black people on the cover - like that solves anythung

Idk I thought you might find the study interesting, it obviously goes more in depth that I have talked about so I can link it to you if you'd like (however it is a study based in Britain based upon British publishing houses so no worries if you aren't interested)

that does sound pretty interesting! id like to see it if u have it easily, but if not, no worries. i think understanding the specifics of the context in other places always helps u understand ur own better, and we have similar studies in brazil with pretty much the same results

the whole animals thing is so crazy. like both in the sense of animalization and just that genuinely animals are more appealing to have as mc than poc for publishing companies diajasoidja god

also i've never seen zootopia or heard of it being a racial allegory and id like to unlearn that information

about luke: yep. i'm not sure they cast isaiah because he was a werewolf, i think it's genuinely just because he was a good actor (especially because so many other originally white characters got actors of color in the show) but sh and tsc did pick the race of the downworlders in the most cursed way. the two most important black characters were both werewolves (i know ur in s1 but maia also exists in tsc so), literally ALL the werewolves except for russell were either black or latine, even the minor ones (bat, alaric, gretel), the only jewish character drinks blood (COME ON), raphael is also animalized a lot "on account of being a vampire" whereas simon is not (and even camille isn't and she was supposed to be white so)

the decision to make luke a black cop will always be something i'll hate. can we stop trying to make cops diverse. cops are oppressors. get out of here with the propaganda

im not sure the thing about luke being hurt is supposed to imply he's violent tho, i think it's more supposed to be like "poor him, a great serviceman of the people, risking his life at the job" which is copaganda and therefore still racist, but, in a different way daoidjsaj

i think there could have been a good critique/parallel there with luke being black and a cop and an ex-shadowhunter downworlder, but that would have to be handled REALLY carefully so im actually kind of glad sh didn't even try to do that. also it would require luke to have actual growth as a character instead of just being clary's caretaker #4, and his internalized anti-downrorldism and bootlicking tendencies to be addressed and become a liberation plotline. which again, sh could never

but yeah same, in the end i love show luke, mostly because of who he could have been, but at least he's not useless like book luke. but like... why make him a cop when you could, very easily, do Anything Else

Yes! All the time! Sometimes it’s easy to forget just how transcendent in popular culture rocky horror actually is. SO many people know the film and so many have seen the show. The longest theatrical release in cinematic history with the biggest cult following!

Rocky horror references do often pop up in tv shows, movies and on social media in general, and while few are directly referencing frank it still makes my heart go !!! when I’m just enjoying my day and I see it.

One time I specifically remember was when I was actually doing Christmas shopping, on my own just going in all the stores and having a good time. And I went into HMV and there was an ‘essential musicals’ section right at the front and guess who was taking up the entire display 👀 and I literally said ‘oh my god’ out loud so I hope nobody heard me!

2) If someone visited your house without any prior knowledge of your FO, would they be able to work out the connection through the items you own? (In other words, how any depictions of your FO are their in your house, and would it be obvious to a complete stranger that you love them?)

I guess so? I think they’d clock that I was a fan of rocky horror but maybe not the whole f/o thing. I have a signed picture of Tim Curry as Frank in my room and I have the film on DVD which I’ve watched five billion times. I have a cast signed DVD cover too with splices of the film reel in the frame, but I haven’t decided what to do with that one yet because you can only see them when the light is shining behind them lmao. And I guess if anyone read my fanfic they’d realise too. But most people know I love rocky horror/love frank because it’s all I talk about rather than material possessions lmao.

3) For those who are creatively minded: Where do you get your muse from? Just how do you create your awesome artwork/stories, and what inspires you?

Uhh, well I’m gonna go with my fanfic for this one because it’s the only thing to do with frank that I’ve created lmao. It’s still not finished by the way, but two years in the making! And I guess I wanted to start one because I’d been reading loads and although they were very good I didn’t feel like the depiction of frank was always accurate (or the way I imagined him to be). And I’ve always wanted to be a writer of some sort and I thought I could at least practice with something I already know and like. I didn’t expect to fall in love with it however and I’m still doing it now!

And I studied Media for two years, so I was always watching films and analysing scripts and shit like that, and being exposed to all that art all the time was really inspiring to me. I wanted to be like them, and I still do. If you choose to read my fic following on from this post, lemme know and say hi!

4) Angst: Have you ever struggled with the knowledge that you and your FO might never inhabit the same world?

Y E S. Some people might already know that I was conflicted about doing this for ages because as much as I understand selfshipping doesn’t hurt anyone, I didn’t wanna start longing for something I couldn’t have and then constantly feeling deprived. I WON’T catch feelings, I WON’T.

Lol what an idiot.

And I guess I just,,,love frank so much. And I think about him all the time. The turning point for me was definitely seeing him on stage, and having him that close to me sort of thing. And while I know that was just an actor - a normal guy with a kick ass singing voice dressed up - like, for those two hours,,,,it was really him? You know?? And then i got SO sad and emotional in the two weeks or so afterwards because I missed it so much and then I kind of had to accept that maybe this is a real thing now huh.

I would love to know what he’s really like and ask him shit and find out if he’s been in touch with me this whole time as well. But ultimately I’d wanna know if he’s proud of me. That’s the only thing that matters really.

5) If the Fates granted you a year with your FO in whichever world you wanted, at the cost of forgetting about them once that year was over, would you take them up on the offer?

I think I would? Based on what I just said in the previous ask and because if I forgot frank existed I wouldn’t have anything to miss? Although I’d have a feeling I’d wait till next year/my 21st because I’m still dealing with a lot of shit and I’d want to get that out the way first so I could really enjoy my time with him and not have to worry about anything else.

6) On the subject of Fates: Was the meeting between you and your most prominent FO ordained by Fate, or was it something you sought out? (In other words, did you fall in love easily and quickly, or did the Universe conspire against you to make this the person you now love?)

Uhhh....I don’t know? Basically what happened was I watched the film for the first time when I was 13. Secretly. And I didn’t tell anyone. Because I’d heard of it vaguely and recognised the title and of COURSE I knew the Time Warp, but everyone around me who ever mentioned it talked as if it were a bad thing, or a bit gross and weird? So I thought it was a bad thing to be watching it, however I was still intrigued so I did. AND I WAS ALSO BATTLING WITH THE WHOLE LIKING MEN WHO LOOKED LIKE WOMEN THING (because I thought I was abnormal to be thinking that and THAT was wrong as well) so when frank came out I was like gee. Thanks for that.

It was easy for me to not talk about it and to just get on with my life as normal until I turned about 15 when I watched the live show broadcast from London to cinemas around Britain and on TV as well. And don’t tell frank but THAT got the ball rolling for me. Seeing him as a real person reacting to what people were saying and doing made it harder for me to ignore those feelings if you catch my drift. So I kind of tested the water and luckily most people were like cool beans.

But when I went to college and everyone was relieved to finally be themselves I LET IT ALL GO and it became my BRAND to be obsessed with frank. And I loved it.

Gee. Which one do you guys think this is?

7) How often, when you are out and about alone, do you imagine your FO is with you? And what is the best imagining you’ve had recently?

ALL THE TIME. Literally every day. I’m an anxious person and small things continuously set me off so imagining a tall strong intimidating looking person but who’s a softie for me is really really comforting. And it helps with my daily life because I can make a conscious effort to Be More Frank. Aka, not give a flying fuck!

My favourite imagine is hearing ab enormous crash and finding frank folded up like a human pretzel in my wardrobe n we’re both like 😳. But then I’d be like huh guess you’re staying with me now, so I take him to work with me and introduce him to everyone and maybe let him have a go at what I do like a take your kid to work day. And then I’d show him around to all my favourite places and introduce him to my friends and since they all know how obsessed I am they’d be like no waaaaaayyyyy. For some reason he’d have a loaf of his own bags already packed so I’d love to do a kind of unboxing video and see all the stuff frank would take with him if he was going on holiday. I’d teach him how to use public transport n I’d get him a phone and teach him how to use it and get set up on all the apps and I would LOVE TO SEE WHAT HE POSTS and something else I’d love to do is give him some money and be like it’s yours buy whatever you want and then unbox all the bags he comes back with.

Not much then! Hehe.

8) If you were given the ability to legally marry your FO tomorrow, IRL, would you do it? And if you would, who would you invite, and if you wouldn’t, do you think it is something you would ever do?

I don’t think I would. Neither of us are keen on the idea of being tied down to anything. I don’t need a piece of paper to prove that I love him and aside from getting to wear a pretty dress and an entire day of attention, I don’t think frank is too fussed either!

Plus he can do all that shit at home hehe.

9) What do you imagine your life be like now, if your FO had never been in it?

I don’t know how to say this without sounding horrible but I don’t think it would be hugely different. Because I was so young when I ‘met’ him I don’t think it makes a difference, because no one can guess what their life is going to be like at 13.

Something that I do think would be different is I probably would have given in to social pressures and gotten myself a bf had I not toyed with this idea. I’ve been been interested in a bf/gf relationship, and having this to sort of account for what I would otherwise be experiencing without actually having to experience it? Sign me up.

10) And a happy one: Your FO manages to make contact with you in our world and leaves you a message on a mirror/other flat surface, what does the message say, and is that surface ever washed again?

Hi darling! I’m honoured to see you’ve kept me in your thoughts for all these years - although it’s worth saying you’ve always been in mine. I know I can’t be near you all the time but I hope you can sense when I am. I know you get scared sometimes but rest assured that I am keeping an eye on you and I’d never let anything bad happen to you. It’s no secret that you’re afraid of failing or being left behind while others accomplish their dreams but I know you can do this and I think you know it too - you just need a bonk on the head sometimes. Whatever happens, I’m proud of you. I’ve always been proud of you.

If you are not too long, I’ll wait for you all my life.

DuckTales 2017 - "A Nightmare on Killmotor Hill!"

A sweet dream.

The episode begins with a big friend-adversary sleepover for Lena, and Webby, the Nephews, and her newest friend Violet were all invited. Even she does not really know if it's been a year since they met, so nobody should think about that too hard. She made them cake, and she even made friendship bracelets for all of them! The boys question how she can be so nice, and Lena says there's no way she can't do something nice for her friends in a tone that does not convince them. The cake making her look like The Slender Man probably did not help.

After accidentally making the candle flame flare up in an evil way, Lena laments that she's just too new to this "good guy" thing. Webby attempts to comfort her by saying that being Magica's living shadow and still being good is good enough, and I can see where Webby is coming from. I honestly forgot she was ever an outright bad guy. Sure, she worked for Magica for most of Season 1, but it's not like she had a choice in the matter. It looked like she had a choice, until Magica revealed she could just take over her body whenever Lena strayed too far from her. While I was taken aback by that at first, the reveal that she's a shadow and not a niece did soften that for me.

Going back to the present, where she is at least an 80% good guy now, Webby prepares for the best friend-adversary sleepover ever, as Lena looks aside with a worried look on her face.

That worry could be a reason why this sleepover does not have that much sleeping. It's 4 AM, and everyone but Lena wants to go to sleep. Even Mrs. Beakley went to sleep, though her spy talent to sleep with her eyes open makes Louie question that. Lena goes to the bathroom to splash cold water on her face, because she really, really doesn't want to have any bad dreams tonight.

Lena: Like Webby said, I don't have to prove anything. Bad dreams can't hurt you.

As if she said "nothing bad could possibly go wrong", Lena starts to get some black strands in her hair feathers, and her eyes go yellow with triangles, much like that evil witch that cast her. As Webby knocks on the door to ask if she needs any you-know-what paper, Lena snips and inevitably gets ready for the next sleepover game...

...actually going to sleep. Lena being out of the room turned out to be a good reason to get that precious sleep. Webby tells Lena that she knows her secret. Simply put, she does not, as she assumes Lena is afraid of the dark. Looking at the glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling, Lena closes her eyes, and her and her surroundings are shrouded with pink rings.

Lena and the rest of the sleepover suddenly wake up on a deserted island. Louie tries to phone Scrooge for help, only for his phone to have emojis instead of numbers. While doing an okay job at improvising what his "number" would have been, it then turns into a banana. Then a unicorn shows up to give Webbigail the opportunity to go through an extreme obstacle course.

Magically given a top hat and a cane much like her idol, Webby is excited that this mission of her dreams is happening! Lena tries to deny that dreams has anything to do with this, but, Violet says this could be a lucid shared dream state caused by Lena's magical powers. She proves this by making a living flower pop up in her hand, and asks Lena if she's been having any bad dreams.

Lena: Okay. (pulls up black hair) No more secrets.

This one line really shows Lena's character in this episode. She has to continuously hide her feelings while evil seems to sprout from her being, while everyone else gets to enjoy this wacky ride through their dreams. An easy tell for this plot is when the boys decide to take this dream world opportunity to fly in the sky.

Lena gets horrifying evil bat wings that fit the horrifying evil personality she is trying to run away from. Needless to say, she decides to walk. As for the unicorn ends up blinking out of existence, as nobody was around to dream him.

Eventually, that walking turns into running, as she runs away from a giant tree-like-hand in a purple forest. We don't quite get exactly what this hand is supposed to represent yet.

After falling into a hole, she gets up as all of the others land after a great time flying in the sky. We can tell because it's all blue, and that's something that will be consistent with everyone except for Webby's. I guess they wanted to have this being a dream be a surprise, or maybe she's the only one who could dream in color. I would not put it beyond her.

We get to see that school does exist in the DuckTales universe...at least in Dewey's dreams, where he's the biggest teenage star in the school. Clearly inspired by a certain Disney Channel Original Movie, he's a musically-inclined basketball jock teenager who is so cool, even his hair does a thumbs up.

And that's only the tip of the Dewey-berg, as Dewey shows off all the beauty of his dream. He can get basketballs from the tap, perfect for when Lena accidentally busts one open with her suddenly appearing talons. He has a love interest that hasn't formed because he's still terrified of such a concept. Considering the alternative, I am so glad that is the case. There's also this out-of-place section that apparently appears in all of Dewey's dreams, where we see a Dewey crying on a moon made of all of his tears.

Huey: I have some theories.

Distracting from all of that, we have a lovable mascot character named Dewey Dude. He's the best! That silly duck can teleport around, sneak up behind Lena, and, while only Lena is looking, he can even take his head off to reveal...

Magica De Spell: Miss me?

As far as Lena could tell, Magica De Spell had regained her magical powers somehow, and is in a mission to goad her former shadow into embracing the dark side. She pulls down a fire alarm, causing the sprinklers to start, which, because this is Dewey's dream, turns out to be Pep. It's easy to get the chills from this scene...I cannot imagine that Pep could get out of their feathers that easily, even in a dream.

Dewey is not too happy that his dream has been soaked, even if he takes his time drinking that sugary substance. This doesn't become a theme. Louie decides to go into one of the lockers into his dream, and we learn that that they spent all of their creativity points on Dewey and Webby. Definitely the former.

To be fair, how much water can you squeeze out of Louie being a cat? Being a lazy cat who may or may not have a taste for lasagna is pretty fitting for Louie in any case. While everyone else, except for Huey who is just irritated by this, Lena shows up as a rabid dog. Dream Mrs. Beakley, speaking in gibberish to enhance that dream feeling, calls on the dog catcher. Guess who? I kind of wish they found more ways to dress up Magica; most of the time, she just shows up with her hand outstretched.

But what about Huey's own dreams? Dewey already has school-related dreams, so playing on Huey's intelligence by making him go to a super-university for the super-intelligent would be a little redundant. Instead, he just has bigger legs. Not because he wants to be a baller, which would also be made redundant by that lovable blue scamp, but just because he can reach high places. Even the others make fun of how generic this is, and Magica does not even show up.

Instead, Dewey, of course it had to be Dewey, decides to interrupt that leg plot that was going nowhere into a montage. Literally, he says he wants to do a montage, and it happens, because dreams! We see Dewey riding on the Spear of Selene, which could also lead to theories, and we see all of kids walking around a candy rain, with Huey chasing after. It's a neat reference to "Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!"

Speaking of references to previous episodes, "What Ever Happened To Donald Duck?!" had Dewey pretend that a Phooey exists beyond an old comics in-joke. In this episode, we get to see him as a dream construct! We finally have a canon representation of this character in this reboot's universe, and that is something I did not expect to see.

This montage flawlessly ties in Lena's part of the plot by having Magica show up again and again. That candy rain ends with Lena getting a rotten apple. Phooey turns around to reveal Magica's face. The Launchpad whale...actually doesn't do anything else other than have something weird for the trailers, but we do see Magica creepily climbing up a chasm.

The kids do the opposite of climbing, as they literally drop into Violet's dream world, where all she does is read books in a library. I can attest that one can definitely read in dreams, despite what that Batman episode might say. Yes, that is all I really have for this one. Violet does not get to do much in this episode. She's only here because she's the most fitting character to explain that lucid dream thing, and because it would be odd to have the new friend from the last Lena episode be left out.

One character that wishes she was left out is Lena, who gets a small glimmer of hope when Scrooge's knocking ends up getting into the dream. Unfortunately, that hope turned out to be false, as it wasn't enough for Lena to wake up. I would imagine the sleep deprivation from earlier did not help. She eventually falls into her black sweater, and the rest of them fall after her to see the cliched scary evil castle. The cliche works very well, since this is supposed to be Lena's dream getting to her most evil point.

In the end, after having an unwanted talk with Magica, she can't stop herself from becoming a monster, as much as she denies it. In fact, she even says:

Lena: (turning into a monster) I AM NOT A MONSTER!

The rest of the kids barge into the door in their dream-sonas to confront who they think is Magica De Spell. Dewey has his basketball skills, Huey has his legs, and Louie even gets to use his cat-like abilities as an actual cat. As for Violet, she just looks the same as she always did. Again, not much to her in this episode.

Unfortunately, Magica-Lena turns out to be too powerful, as basketballs and cats do nothing to her. Huey's legs do not even do anything to Magica-Lena; he just bumps into a chandelier that loosens and stars to fall on where Webby is standing. Oh, not again! Lena does manage to save Webby this time, and, because, this proves that, despite her current looks, she's still the "good guy" Lena.

Well, that, and she was wearing Lena's friendship bracelet, so it must be the real Lena. It would have been hard to see because they forgot to draw it until Webby talks about it.

This all ends with a big tug-of-war between the "good guys" and the Magica in the mirror, sort of summarizing the Lena plot from Season 1 in a more abstract way. It's here where the friendship bracelets come in; it's neat to see that come full circle.

At first, I thought there was going to be some sort of cop-out. I was just waiting for Lena to wake up and realize that this whole scenario was just a bad dream, and that the others were just sleeping as usual. That doesn't turn out to be the case, thankfully.

In fact, there is quite a bit more to this than I expected! I would have been fine with certain elements just being in Lena's head, but the ending throws a small but significant twist that will be expanded on in a future episode.

How does it stack up?

Another episode in the Lena plot, and another one with some twists and turns. Just like the last one, I'm going to put this in the Jaw$ column as well.
