Sell me on love with the villainess if you like it so much
What starts as a silly romantic comedy about a girl trying to romance her favorite side-character from an otome game gives way to one of the most beautifully written romances I've read in my entire life, about two people learning to find worth within themselves through each other and fighting the world to love one another.
It's a story, fundamentally, about healing from the damage the world does to you through love - for one is healing from the trauma of being abandoned and never getting to say goodbye to someone you love, for the other from bigotry. It's about finding oneself in another and building something greater than the sum of its parts. Once it stops being a horny comedy it just hits you back to back with some of the most heartwrenching romantic narratives I've read without going full into tragedy territory.
It also helps that Rei and Claire are some of my favorite romantic leads ever, even if it takes a good chunk of the story for their romance to really kick off for good. The manga does a better job of giving them some more romantic development before they get together for good at the end of the second novel, but either way, I'm just such a sucker for undying devotion like that. Rei's early characterization of just being surrendered to ensuring her beloved is happy, even if she is not, just hits such a strong chord with me personally.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The manga does a good job of showing the growth of their relationship a little bit less one-sidedly, compared to the light novel. There's some wonderful moments that are added or mixed in just through aonoshimo's wonderful art excellent facial expressions communicating a lot of internality for both characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Definitely read the manga, but also check out the light novels - the first two are fantastic, third is my favorite, four is kind of mediocre but still fun, five is the author choosing to take a silly isekai premise and see how far she can run with it, such as "let's make it so it's not an isekai anymore".
The anime, so far, is really surpassing my expectations, especially with its visual direction. I fully expected it to be kind of a throwaway project, but they're really putting everything into it! They even condensed the worst parts of the story into just one episode this week.
Oh also the story also constantly grapples with the inherent maliciousness of capitalism and provides some pretty scathing commentary on being gay and trans in japan - nothing new, but it's refreshing to see something this mainstream get so overtly into the topic. Next week's episode, if they don't coward out of it, should be the one where they have one of the most iconic conversations of the story regarding the latter.
I hope this rambling mess of an answer is what you wanted, anon.

Yandere Dabi with a pregnant darling
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: pregnant reader, yandere behavior, slight talk about sex, talks about TikTok, talks about endeavor/about trauma, soft! Dabi (sorta ooc) and cursing.
A/N: this was requested and I deleted it. Yet again. On accident. Sorry :((
I'm not sure who the icon of Dabi belongs too! I found it in my gallery so if you have any idea who it belongs too, please message me so I can credit them/or you!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His first initial reaction is surprised and quiet. He's in a state of shock and slight uncertainty; you're pregnant and he's fault for it. He doesn't know what to do.
While he does remember having round after round with you, filling you up. He just didn't expect you to get pregnant.
"Whatta' mean you're pregnant? Are you sure? Two lines? Are you shitting with me? Are you positive-postitive? Fuck."
The next few days are really hard on him. How can he, a monster, raise a child? What if they inherit his quirk and get hurt? Or worse, what if he hurts them? A lot of questions and anxiety spirals into his stomach and chest.
He won't leave you. He makes sure of that. He won't be like his dad or simply leave you/or disconnect with you due to your pregnancy. However, Dabi will be distant for a bit; trying his best to wrap the fact that you're pregnant with his kid and how he's gonna continue with this.
But, when he concludes that he needs to be responsible and support both of you, he comes up to you and hugs you tightly. Whispering In your ear, comforting you with his raspy voice: "It's alright. I'll help us out. I promise you, baby. We'll get through this together, yeah?"
For the new weeks to come, he comes up with a few plans. One is that this kid can't live in a trash place; one that's not very clean, wasn't kid-friendly, and is a potential threat to them. So, he decided to do the house a makeover, making sure to buy (steal) items, clothing, and furniture.
He makes sure that the child can go to school, have fun, and run outside while making issues that are irritating to fix.
Secondly, he makes sure that his plans of being a villainess are put to the side or at least aren't as huge. While he does work on the side (somehow working as a butcher or cashier), he makes money to support you two; Dabi makes sure to spend as much time with you.
From that day, he's rarely seen leaving your side. He's always beside you, always at your call and ready to make you whatever you want.
Dabi becomes more observant, more than he already has. He reads your body language, steps on eggshells around you to make sure you feel comfortable and knows what's up before you can tell him.
This includes your hormones and cravings. While he will cook and deliver the food you crave. He doesn't understand why you're crying about the damn bed being too uncomfortable to angrily yell at him for moving your toothbrush an inch.
But, as your bump grows, so does his protectiveness and fear of being a father. The two of you will both have continuous emotional conversations, showing vulnerable sides of each other and slowly healing with these talks that Dabi much appreciates.
He loves to touch your stomach and lay on your mid-thighs, even if it's not grown yet; he loves to kiss and rub his fingers all along your tummy, kissing it and closing his eyes as he hears you heartbeat.
But, when he feels the baby kick, he feels his breath ripped out of him while he stares at your tummy in disbelief; the kid just kicked him, didn't they?
In his free time, he will read articles online that show small things to help you with your growth. But sometimes he will go onto Tiktok and watch videos that make his stomach roll in butterflies. But when he saw the video of people lifting their partner's belly, he immediately tried it; to say the least, the minute he heard you groan, then yell in anger made him smirk for a bit.
Occasionally, he will use his quirk to massage your sore muscles, making sure to rub into the deep knotted parts and use your favorite lotion; putting it on your swollen ankles while kissing them to show how amazing you look.
If you ever feel insecure, he's immediately pulling you in front of the mirror and showing you every mark as to why they are important and how they're gorgeous; "These stretch marks are signs of your growth, your power, and living of the baby. You should be proud of these, dollface. I love them regardless."
Every doctor visit, he comes with. Even if you dare to insist it's fine. Dabi makes sure to hold your hand, squeezing it when he sees the ultrasound of your baby.
Speaking of ultrasounds, he doesn't care about the gender. He would love them regardless of the sex! (Although, I do see him as a daddy's girl :])
Cuddling with Dabi is very warm and comforting. He makes sure you lay on him, holding your favorite pillow and hod hand near you; warming you up with his quirk.
At some point, it's expected to go baby-clothing shopping. Once you do, it takes three hours for you two to complete because he couldn't pick between a Stitch and Snorlax onesie (you ended up buying both!)
On the last semester, Dabi is complicated. While you do tell him he will be a good father, he can't help but overthink the facts. Cuddling and kissing scenes tend to happen after this, and while you may see him extremely vulnerable, he hates showing this side of him due to his childhood.

So um this is a really random piece of info but I binged like 8 manhwas in like a single week, and am currently binging through 'A Villainess No More' (Loving the FL rn she's iconic-) I've also taken to summarising them in the most out of context way I can think of-
Little Rabbit and the Big Bad Leopard(ongoing)
vore turned borederline beastiality because fl wasn't wearing clothes one too many times but somehow everything happened without a single sex scene
I Became the Sacrificial Princess (ongoing)
the equivalent of fake brands trying to replace the original but failing miserably
50 Tea Recipes from the Duchess (completed) (reread this one cus why not)
tea is the solution to all your problems
Adelaide (completed)
celebrity scandal turned political conflict and the fl just happened to be at the right place at the right time to snag herself a love interest
A Royal Princess With Black Hair (completed)
caramel tarheads
A Villainess for the Tyrant (completed)
arranged death sentence turned dimension travelling saviours
A Tender Heart : The Story of How I Became a Duke's Maid (completed)
raise your own love interest
Am I Your Daughter? (completed)
trigger warnings are practically a side plot
(I really apologise if this clogged up your inbox I just read a shit ton of manhwas in one go and really needed to tell someone about it-)
~ Idia nonnie <3
I'm sorry I never got to reply to this but my inbox gets weird depending on which device I use and certain messages don't pop up where I remember they should be. Is that just me having a really old phone model or something? I'm literally using my work computer to reply (don't tell my supervisor whoops!)
Considering that I've read some of these as well, I completely understand the need to binge this. I have no leg to stand on this xD
Being a tea b*tch, having a whole manhwa dedicated to how great tea is *mwuah* absolutely everything. (it's also funny that there's a number of manhwa dedicated to how great coffee is but I don't really remember them |−・;)
I gotta say, people who really like Little Rabbit and the Big Bad Leopard must be pretty open-minded considering the weirdness of it (that or maybe kinda kink-ahem) but I also read this so I have no right to judge anyone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bracket F thoughts:
Jesus flipping crisis, those fucking elephant calls in "Prowler's theme" are so terrifying. Also I really like how it's basically Miles' theme in reverse, both because of how it emphasizes the relationship between Miles and Aaron and because of...certain events in Across the Spiderverse.
"Candy Store" has that bitchy confidence, but "Mother Knows Best" is the emotional abuser's anthem par excellence. Like I could do a whole ask dissecting all the shit Gothel pulls in that one song to undermine and manipulate Rapunzel.
(She'd be one of my favorite Disney villains if she wasn't also a heaping pile of antisemitic stereotypes...)
I was liking "The Music of the Night," but then it tried to murder my ears with that organ(?) at the end, so I'll give this one to "What's Up Duloc?", which is also admittedly quite good.
One of these won the 1994 Razzie for Worst Original Song. The other is Rachel L Hughes playing a megalomaniacal dictator crooning about her space train (which she fucks) that definitely is not going to unleash Yog Sogoth ;). Vote for "Odin" right now.
"Dressed to Oppress" is delightful, but oh my god that reprise of "Good Kid" in "The Last Day of Summer" hits like a truck.
As people have discussed in the notes, "The Convoluted Reasons We Pretend to Be Divorced" is not that villainous--and frankly I didn't find it as much of a bop as some other PnF songs I've listened to. "We Both Reached For the Gun" is a masterclass is manipulation as Billy plays the press for suckers so completely he doesn't even need Roxy to speak for him by the end. Also the fucking puppet acting, wow.
...Ok it might not be the best villain song, but "Penny battle theme" goes so hard I had to support it. Sue me.
I voted "Someone Gets Hurt," but they're both great. That one was close.
"One-Winged Angel" is iconic and intimidating, but I personally prefer the energy of "Cell-Block Tango." The dancing is amazing, the lyrics are witty, and the chorus is an earworm and a half. I also like the use of visual symbolism with the red handkerchiefs to symbolize how each murderess killed her victim(s)--except the innocent Hungarian woman, who dances angelic ballet to their aggressive tango and is the only one with a white handkerchief.
Who doesn't love an unabashed villainess who destroys worlds in battle armor and sneakers? "I'm the Bad Guy" is a bop.
"Pieces of You" is a goofy and terrifying fever dream of a song, holy fuck. The visuals give this one the edge for me. Also, don't you want to support The Substitute? He's just a little guy :)
"A Freak Like Me Needs Company" ultimately just got kind of lost for me--it focused too much on villains in general and not on Norman himself, while "The Only Thing I Know For Real" is both a kickass rock song and a great piece of characterization for Jetstream Sam.
...I don't know, I like Zelena's actress' singing and I think it's funny that she's not cursed to sing in this episode and she's just doing this for shits and giggles. I voted "Wicked Always Wins."
To quote someone in the comments of the "Bloody Party/Welcome to Cake Island" video, "This is the most Disney-like bulshit [sic] I have ever seen in an anime, and I fucking love it." What the fuck is happening. Why are these people committing casual mass murder for cake ingredients. Why are inanimate objects singing along with this pirate lady. I don't know but it scares me.
"The Smell of Rebellion" really picks up in the end, and "Love For Peasants" felt a little too unfocused musically. Also, @thatsluttytiefling mentioned that the song gave them "war flashbacks to the choreo," so it is villainous IRL as well.
Oh my god how the fuck did "This is the Thanks I Get" get released in this state. The lyrics don't rhyme properly and are exceedingly awkward to boot. The chorus is bland as shit. The visuals are boring. There's no buildup from "I'm an underappreciated hero doing my best for the kingdom and nobody respects me enough :(" to "I want ULTIMATE POWAH through DAAAAAARK MAGIC" and then it suddenly just switches back to how it was before??? It's not intimidating and scary, it's silly for all the wrong reasons, it's not even particularly sympathetic, and it is reeking of trying to be hip and cool and/or being written by people with too little time and too few fucks to give. "Heaven on Their Minds" is very good in its own right, but I kind of already knew which one was better before I even heard it, because this song just...doesn't do its job.
I agree that the villain Phineas and Ferb songs aren't among the best the show has to offer.

You knew this was coming: Pegasus.
You will talk about my poor little meow meow cartoon babyman and you will like it.
LMAAOO YOU'RE RIGHT I SHOULD'VE SEEN THIS COMING.
Tumblr media
I really do love Pegasus though lol. When I was younger I used to laugh at his "reading comic books all alone with a glass of wine and one(1) wheel of cheese" thing, but. Ahem. My oven broke last week and 90% of what I've been eating since has been shitty discount charcuterie boards I make for myself out of whatever tf is left in my fridge i.e. mostly cheese, and I've been in yet another villainess isekai manga phase lately, and OK I'm allergic to red wine but I was gifted some really nice soju lately, anyways let's just say that I am right now as we speak having a moment of clarity about being an adult sitting alone with a wheel of cheese and an alcoholic beverage whilst laughing at comics.
That is, it slaps. Pegasus was so right, and if I could be doing this in a castle while a bunch of people fight to death on my lawn for entertainment...well I can't say I wouldn't...
Also when my sister and I watched YGO as kids, we somehow got our hands on a few subbed episodes, and one of them was the one where Shadi and Pegasus go into the tomb together. There's this point where out of fucking nowhere Pegasus yells "JEEEESUS!! OHHHHH GREAT!" in mangled English. Twenty years later my sister and I still pop around corners yelling "JEEEESUS!! OHHH GREAT!!!" at each other. ICONIC.

My fall 2023 anime thoughts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another season in the books! Like last fall, this one was jam packed with tons of amazing stuff (fall 22 is still gonna be like the One I look back on like "WHAT THE HELL HOW WERE THEIR SO MANY TOP TIER SHOWS") and a lot of new favs! To keep my streak goin, here's my end of season thoughts dealie! You may notice a trend for all three, and to quote my bestie when I said all my favs are about gay girlies, "a reflection of the self."
I'm in Love with the Villainess - I adore the books so I was really looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. A super faithful adaptation with an AMAAAAZING cast, oh my god I cannot put into words how good the ENG dub cast does with this. Rae and Claire the most iconic. Altogether it feels like a celebration of queer joy, and for that alone it holds a special place in my heart.
The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess - This one I watched while reporting on how each ep went to my bestie, cuz the books are a major big fav for them and they waited til the whole season was done to watch, which made for an interesting watch as I would be enjoying an episode / hoping it was a good daptation as I haven't read the books yet. This one got me with that Lycoris stress, even if the actual series was more silly and fun and not very stressful like the back half of Lycoris. Just that "I am so invested in this to go good." Komari is baby and I love Vill so much. Also love when a gay girlie fantasy anime like this or MagiRevo has just awful awful men as villains for our girlies to kick the asses of it's very cathartic.
Stardust Telepath - THIS WAS SO CUTE AND PRECIOUS AND SWEET. CGDCT anime about a rocket making club. Umika is so precious this anxious mess I love her sm. All of the four mains are so sweet AND a ton of side characters were too. Some of the romantic scenes made me ugly cry. I love love love series about healing, and this I think is a great example of one where people are hurting and then heal together.

End of the year question answers
(stolen from someone else's ask list but posted in one long go)
Song of the year?
Poetry by Dead Men by Sara Bareilles (don't care that it's not released this year, it was still the song of my year)
Album of the year?
Mini World by Indila
Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year?
Icon for hire ... blindside was a bop
Movie of the year?
Nimona, hands down, I'm still not quite over how good it was, fuck disney
TV show of the year?
Star Trek Lower Decks. They did a really good job with the overarching plot this season
Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you?
Game Changer: Escape the green room, like it was back in March and I still can't stop thinking about it, so we'll done, and Lou and Brennan immediately breaking stuff will never not be funny
Favorite actor of the year?
Jess McKenna, between Play it by ear, lower decks, and the off book podcast relisten, she's seemingly everywhere I'm watching/listening
Game of the year?
Littlewood cuz I like collecting and crafting and I can play this game for hours and hours and hours
Best month for you this year?
There wasn't really one unfortunately.
Something that made you cry this year?
A lot of things, but most recently @ zoestormwriting's Enchanted Forest anthology. (Good tears), like the stories were so sweet and they resonated so hard on an emotional level.
Something you want to do again next year?
Take the California Zephyr (but likely out east this time instead of just up into the mountains
Talk about a new friend you made this year
I met a transfem person and their then partner at a friend's birthday and loved chatting with both of them, it did sound like they broke up but I've had coffee with one of them a few times and we've had lovely conversations each time.
How was your birthday this year?
Really good! My partner asked a bunch of friends to get together for lunch with me at this open air food place and it was a small thing but I loved getting to see everyone. Likely the best birthday in a long time.
Favorite book you read this year?

I made a turkey and potato dumpling soup from November leftovers and it's my favorite soup to make.
What’re you excited about for next year?

I started learning how to spin yarn on a drop spindle, I didn't know they were a thing until I read @ niki-smith's deep and dark blue and it's been a delightful experience.
What’s something new about your place of residence (room, home, or general location) now vs the start of the year?
We have a working fireplace now
Favorite place you visited this year?
Glenwood springs, in that it was the only place we went, took the train up, best way to go.
If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be?
Shoe sizes don't stop being gendered at 12, understand hat you've already lost two and a half sizes when you're telling other trans women "amazing for you" when they share how much they lost!
Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions?
I didn't make any, so no
Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one
I made a character for a Halloween zine that I didn't end up submitting to, a dragoness writing a recipe blog style story for a "dragon readers digest" print publication found footage sort of deal. Still have like half of it written and a lot of her details in my head.
