oh Positivity, yes. uuuhhhh im kind of bad at bookmarking things ngl but i will share A Few. all vashwood bc that's my shit & all

i feel like everyone knows about Figure Me Out but it was one of the first fics i read in this fandom & honestly tangentially inspiration for writing Sentido (that whole tangible inhumanity kind of idea). i should reread it sometime. im very behind on the sequel but im thinking about working on reading it so i can have smth that has good characterization. genuinely some of the best vash characterization ive seen. Sooooooooooo good

theres kinder, gentler WHICH i actually was absolutely ABSOLUTELY obsessed with a giant haikyuu fic this person wrote back in the day, so seeing them get into trigun was an Absolute gift for me. one of the best trigun longfic there are imo with fun characterizations & WONDERFUL writing. one of my favorite instances of Knives Domestication too, aka he's still very thorny and does not like humans but he is Making An Effort (after centuries and centuries of work). this fic rly embodies the spirit of trigun to me tbh, if it was something... well... kinder and gentler. very silly and very sad at times, but also hopeful. what a fic <3

i was very very very obsessed with Trillium and Ivy. read the entire thing in one day. & honestly shoutout to them for writing such a long fic back b4 the trigun renaissance. Dedication. it's been a bit since ive read it but i remember really enjoying how they wrote Vash's disability in a modern setting. not just handwaving away the prosthetic as some super high-tech thing. and also addressing the utter horror that his recovery from such a serious accident wouldve been. honestly i might reread it sometime, ive forgotten a lot of it and it was SO fucking good. genuinely i was obsessed. highly recommend it.

We don’t really have Christmas traditions in my family, except that we’ve always celebrated with the extended family at my maternal grandparents’ house on the 24th (that hasn’t happened since 2019 bc they sold their old house and other obvious factors covid) but my grandma made a group chat to organize for the 24th so I think it’s happening again this year 🤭

For books I’m currently reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes! (I’ve fully fallen into the Snowbaird hole help 🧍‍♀️ I can’t escape the tragic toxic couples they’re my weakness 😩)

As for movies and tv shows, im a huge Star wars fan, especially the prequel trilogy! (Am obsessed with Anidala) some of my other favourites include Spiderverse, Red White and Royal Blue and Scott Pilgrim VS the world!

My all time favourite show is Julie and the Phantoms (I’ll never not be pissed it got canceled after one season 😭😭) and there’s a lot of other shows I like but listing them would take too long 😂

I don’t necessarily have a favourite genre, but I LOVE me some romance side plot 😌😌 if there’s nothing for me to ship it’s hard to hold my attention 😭 I’ll watch a movie or a one season show without any romance if it’s really good but otherwise I’m OUT OF HERE lol

Lily typically has an extremely low opinion of animation and how a cartoon/animated film actually looks in general, with one of her most common saying being that “A cartoon can survive poor animation”. And look, while I certainly do agree that how a film looks isn’t everything and that its not helpful to obsess over its style, I’ve found that Lily doesn’t really mean it in that way. Instead, like with her answer to that anon’s ask or when she’s talking about storytelling in general, she often does act extremely dismissive and hateful of people saying that the actual animation of a cartoon, how it looks and is stylized, is a VERY important part of a cartoon or animated movie’s creation. It really is a pattern that one can see emerging in her videos, even if you just watch a couple of them or her most major ones (like in her Steven Universe Is Garbage and Here‘s Why video). That Lily does not consider the animation to be that important when making a cartoon and that perhaps even moreso that she REALLY fucking hates animators themselves. This is made even more obvious when a lot of the criticisms that she hurls at Steven Universe and other shows that she hates often comes very laden with insults about how they all made by “art school brats” and how “storyboarders/animators shouldn’t be leading or running the making of cartoons”. Seriously, just look up that “art school brats” phrase or “2D animation” on her Tumblr blog, and you will be fucking FLOODED with this complete fucking moron shitting on animators as a whole and the people who even just ENJOY animation and how cartoons/animated films are made and look. She has dedicated so many videos and Ask Essays to specifically shitting on the work that animators do and on the animators themselves who get rightfully pissed at her shitty on some of the hardest working people in, well, the fucking ANIMATION industry!!! When you look at just how fucking obsessively dedicated that Lily has become to shitting the hard work animators do and how creepily she takes glee in saying (among many other horrible and outright just plain abusive fucking bullcrap) that they’re “doing fucking grunt work”. The mystery as to why she ALSO hates artists in general so much, why she constantly steals their work, and even fucking has verbally ABUSED them off of tumblr on SEVERAL occasions just makes SO much more fucking sense now!!

I know I’ve already said a lot, but it is very hard to get across just how much time and how much energy that this complete fucking loser has dedicated to shitting on animators, animation, and just about anybody who even slightly likes fucking ANYTHING about what am cartoon/animated movie fucking looks like to them. She has literally fucking said that if she were to direct a 2D animated film, that the FIRST fucking thing that she would do would be to gather the entire crew together and than just fucking go OFF on an abusive, histrionic fucking tantrum SOLELY at the goddamn animators about how fucking worthless they are and about how the work that they do doesn’t fucking matter. Lily’s hatred for people who enjoy animating/animation and animation as an art form in general goes SOOOOOOOOOOO much fucking farther beyond that stupid, passive—aggressive comment about how the animator just shook the camera in order to make the ground move in a scene. It is a very obsessive and creepy hatred that seems to, for some reason, come from a very deep—seated place within Lily’s mind. To the point where I’m sure that many of Lily’s own fucking FANS have kept their jobs as animators a secret from her or their love of drawing/cartooning from her. Because she has thrown massive abusive tantrum after MASSIVE abusive fucking tantrum at any fucking animator that has come across her path, constantly belittles their work as practically fucking worthless and unneeded, and seems to just hate any animation/cartoon project that focuses more so on the animation than other aspects, such as that incredible Sea of Solitude game or The Prince of Egypt. I wouldn’t be surprised if many people got turned off of enjoying or even just liking Lily’s content/Lily as a fucking person after she started going completely batshit fucking insane about how much she loathed animators and her creepy fucking obsession with painting them ALL as just the worthless, lazy, essentially fucking PACK MULES of cartoon making and that its a bad thing when people actually even just value them as artists in their fields, let alone actually like or want to become/are fucking one of them. It really is such an absolutely bizarre thing for one person to spend so much time obsessively hating over, but that’s just Lily for you I suppose. A narcissistic fucking bully who refuses to get the help that she so obviously and DESPERATELY fucking needs and instead just spirals further and further down into her own fucking abusive, self—destructive goddamn anger and impotent fucking rage at shit that literally NOBODY else fucking shares such lunatic ramblings about!

Giant entertainment idols Hinata Hyuga and Naruto Uzumaki are invited to the highest-profile performance of the year: MAMA, the Mnet Asian Music Awards. With rising media attention, amid behind-the-scenes trouble brewing among friends, family, and ex-lovers, Hinata and Naruto need to somehow maintain their picture-perfect reputations.

“A Little White Lie” by Trinity (bakugousbby) - Rated M, High School AU, Socmed format, Ongoing. Hinata posts a picture of a boy to ward off her creepy stalker. The only problem? She chose the wrong boy.

I was obsessed with these for a solid two weeks, was completely considering how to stop ficcing like old news and create a social media au, and then I finally decided that it’s too much work. I don’t have enough investment to go searching for the perfect photographs, edit them, create text threads and posts on top of creating a plot, writing the actual story, and figuring out how to post it. But himatauzumaki and trinity are up for the challenge!!! And they do it so beautifully!!

“Catalyst” has THICK plot. As a fanfiction on its own, it would have been wonderful to read. As a socmed AU, I feel like I’m watching a Jdrama or Kdrama??? It’s like watching a movie!! The characterization feels beautiful and realistic, too!

“A Little White Lie” is literally the funniest NaruHina story I’ve ever read. I’ve never laughed so much while reading a story. I can just tell that Trinity has a lot of fun with her characters, and so it’s SO FUN to read. Angst is just, like, not a thing?? The situations are stereotypically high school “angsty” but trinity resolves them with humor, and I love it!!!

Truly those are the best reads I’ve had recently. They’re everything that I’ve ever wanted to see, combining my love for NaruHina with aesthetic photography and Asian models/musicians. Reading those fics are like scrolling through my own Tumblr blog.

“Hold Me in Your Memory” - Rated E, Police/Crime/Time Travel AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing. When 2008 rookie Detective Uzumaki Naruto discovers that he can communicate with 2019 Crime analyst Hyūga Hinata, they embark together on a manhunt that defies space and time. But, can the two of them really face the Rinnegan Killer, the serial killer that destroyed both their lives?

So the summer camp AU is totally up my ally. Imanga really knew what she was doing when she gifted me that fic 😂💖

It’s awkward teens pining and flirting ❤️, and I swear that half my own works are exactly that. Still, it includes aspects of French/camping culture, so it’s something that’s completely different!! It has that 🙊 kinkiness with the outdoor aspect, and the daring smut reminds me of bunnyhoodlum’s or breakfastinbed’s style. Awkward & flirty first love + culture + kinky smut is the perfect combination to me!

I read “Hold Me in Your Memory” last night while answering the Time Travel AU recommendations ask, and time travel is not something that I’d normally read, but! This story reminded me of utsus’ unfinished Detective AU “Stolen Beginnings”, but with the time travel twist, and of course, this time Naruto is one of the detectives rather than suspects. It also reminded me of bunnyhoodlum’s “Powerless” because of the gruesome and high-stakes murders. Like, Imanga really went there. The plot is bold and the characterization of Naruto and Hinata is a little different from the usual, taking into account how the murders messed up their lives. SOOOOOOooooo, yeah. This one’s going to be on my mind....considering how I just compared it to two of my Top 5s, I’m looking forward to seeing how this story turns out!

Last, I came across a Boxer!Naruto and Nurse!Hinata AU :DDDDD Ever since I read martial artist!Naruto in katarinahime’s “(common side effects)”, I’ve wanted to read more! This one is very sweet!!!

“Seeing Stars” by Free Mentality - Rated T, Modern AU, One-shot. They had been attending the same boxing gym for months before he noticed her, and the first time they met was a bit of a disaster, to say the least.

HERBERT WEST CHEAT SHEET !

since my muses are not super well known in the contemporary rpc ( and i’m too lazy to do a full about page at this very moment ) i decided to put together little posts for them that give their general backgrounds, vibes, and plot possibilities !

this is a mix of canon and headcanon, and these are subject to change / adapt as i get more used to writing the characters

BACKGROUND:

Films: Re-Animator 1985, Bride of Re-Animator 1990, Beyond Re-Animator 2003

We don’t talk about Beyond Re-Animator......

Dr. Herbert West, 24 in the first movie, 27 in the second movie, idk like 40 in the third movie. Mad scientist to the MAX. In the novelization Herbert is an orphan who gets passed around in foster homes before eventually going to undergrad at NYU and pursuing his theory about the re-animation of dead tissue. Mostly people think he’s sort of crazy until one of his articles catches the eye of Dr. Hans Gruber at a university in Switzerland, and he invites Herbert to come work alongside him. Herbert eventually grows to respect Gruber as both a mentor and father-figure.

Herbert and Gruber develop a reagent that affects re-animation in dead animal tissue but they know that for their results to be taken seriously they need to do a human trial. Dr. Gruber volunteers but the dosage of the reagent is too large, and though it brings Gruber back to life it quickly overwhelms his system and he dies again. Herbert is taken into psychiatric custody in Switzerland but is eventually released.

Herbert returns to America and specifically sets his sights on Miskatonic Medical School in Arkham, Massachusetts because one of the staff, Dr. Carl Hill, used to work with Gruber years ago, and even went on to plagiarize some of Gruber’s work and publish it in America. Herbert makes it his secondary goal to absolutely terrorize Dr. Hill, and because he’s a chaotic gremlin in human form he’s very good at it.

Herbert continues working on perfecting the reagent, rooming with Dan Cain and eventually pulling Dan into the experiments as well when Dan’s cat dies and Herbert is able to prove his research by reanimating it. Herbert isn’t perturbed when Dan’s talk with Dean Halsey goes south, and just digs his heels in and insists that the only way to truly prove that the reagent works is to reanimate a human cadaver.

Results are just as bad as you’d expect. Sure, the cadaver reanimates but it also wrecks the morgue and kills Dean Halsey. RIP. Herbert insists that they reanimate him and the dean comes back less like himself and more animalistic, trying to kill both Herbert and Dan before his daughter Meg shows up and stops him. Despite it all, Herbert manages to wriggle his and Dan out of any suspicion from the police but Dr. Hill takes an interest in Herbert’s work once he does exploratory surgery of Dean Halsey and finds out he’s technically dead.

Dr. Hill confronts Herbert in his laboratory and threatens to steal Herbert’s work and take it for his own, offering Herbert the meager honour of being his assistant. Herbert promptly murders Hill via decapitation but decides not to let his fresh corpse go to waste and reanimates both Hill’s head and his body, which come back to life and knock Herbert out and steal all of his work.

Yada yada, Herbert gets Dan to help him go after Hill, the big climax happens. Herbert is able to prove his theory about overdose by shooting up Dr. Hill’s headless body with a bunch of reagent, which backfires and Herbert is left for dead all tangled up in Hill’s intestines, but not after he ensures that his research is safe with Dan.

They never explain how Herbert survives the first movie but he sure is alive in the second movie! It’s roughly 3ish years after the first film, so he’s got his doctorate now and he’s drug Dan all the way to Peru so they can be volunteer medics in a civil war. This obviously gives Herbert an unprecedented access to fresh bodies for his experiments.

Eventually he and Dan head back to Miskatonic Hospital, where they’re able to get jobs and a creepy cute little house that used to be a mortuary so they can continue the work. Herbert is now obsessed with the reanimation of separate parts and convinces Dan to help him build an entirely new life from parts. Dan’s not on board until Herbert shows him Megan Halsey’s heart and promises that they’ll build the body around it.

Dr. Hill’s head also somehow survived the first movie and it tries to terrorize Herbert, along with a cop who’s investigating Herbert for stealing corpses. Herbert eventually kills and reanimates the cop, and then gets into even more trouble when all of the other strange creatures he’s been reanimating start coming after him because they’re being mind controlled by Dr. Hill’s nasty head ( don’t ask me okay, this script was written in literally 6 weeks it makes no sense )

Anyway Herbert and Dan successfully bring their creation to life right before getting attacked by Dr. Hill and his army of weirdos, all while Dan is having a mental breakdown because he thinks the creation is his dead girlfriend Meg. In the chaos Dan and the creation escape separately while Herbert and Hill and co. get trapped under buried rubble and are left for dead ( AGAIN ).

But surprise! Herbert isn’t dead! We don’t know how he survived but we do know that at some point in time Dan turned over evidence to the authorities that led to Herbert’s arrest and imprisonment. The third movie picks up with Herbert who’s been in prison for 13 years and the dumbass new hospital doctor is a fanboy of Herbert and brings in some of his reagent. Herbert basically starts a prison riot, chaos ensues, this movie is Not Good, but the important thing is that Herbert escapes prison with his work and gets to walk off free and definitely alive into the night <3

VIBES / PERSONALITY:

His work is EVERYTHING to him -- there have been multiple times where Herbert has put his work above his own bodily safety or chance of survival, and I guarantee he would do it again, too. Herbert is mostly focused on being able to do the impossible simply because it’s “impossible.” He’s able to convince Dan to help him because he reasons the practical applications of his reagent, like saving lives by aiding in surgeries or helping with amputations, but at the end of the day Herbert is only concerned with discovery, acclaim, and giving classical science a big ‘ole middle finger.

He can be incredibly manipulative when looking for a specific action or behavior in the people close to him. This mostly is seen in how he treats Dan, often reeling him back in with promise of how much good their work will do in the world when Dan starts to get squeamish. Herbert is also really good at finding the sorest spots in someone and pressing on them, but usually only does this when he wants to prove a point or if he really hates someone.

He gains a lot of power by seeming like the more “level-headed” person in an altercation, but he can get extremely excitable or aggressive, especially when something goes well with his research or if it’s being threatened.

He’s genuinely a good doctor, doesn’t freak out under pressure, has neutral-good bedside manner, is very decisive and isn’t afraid to make difficult decisions when it comes to a patient’s life. However, Herbert considers himself a scientist first and a doctor second. The work on reanimation will always come before anything else.

He’s a HUGE fucking nerd, he loves making puns or little zingers whenever he can fit them into a conversation. He also likes playing practical jokes, though he doesn’t do it often. He’s got a great evil giggle.

Oh he’s terrible at taking care of himself. There’s a deleted scene from the first movie where Herbert is shown to be injecting himself with a weakened version of the reanimating reagent because it helps keep his brain sharp and makes it to where he doesn’t have to sleep. What a NUT. I think he probably weans off this habit, by force or choice. His sleeping and eating habits are still pretty bad, though. Definitely the kind of person who doesn’t eat/sleep/rest unless he’s genuinely about to collapse because of it.

Oh he’s also sooooooooooo gay. gay gay gay homo sexual.

There are very few people he outright respects or enjoys spending time around, and with everyone else he is absolutely so bitchy and rude. He doesn’t give a single shit about being polite. Also ACAB.

PLOT POSSIBILITIES:

Got any canonically dead muses? Want them to be alive again? Herbert can help with that! He’ll definitely want to make sure they stick around and observe them to see why the reagent worked so well, maybe do some extra tests, so he can also double as a really annoying, creepy roommate. Score!

@need-not I swear I wanted to share my comments of your Rebecca fics, particularly ganz besonders, earlier but work has been kicking my butt lately and tiring me. But I finally got around to writing some of my thoughts down. :D

First of all, ganz besonders is highly addicting. I've read it multiple times and I've enjoyed it every single time. Mainly because of the high tension between Ich and Danny. To be honest, I hadn't thought about Danvich as a pairing until I discovered your fics. They’re two people who wouldn’t really be compatible together and yet this story manages to successfully justify how and why these repressed ladies get together lmaoooo.

I think the buildup and the context is what really makes the story great. (23k words? Very impressive!) The length allows the exploration of the “mistress x servant” and “enemies to lovers” dynamics and gosssshhhh I love those so much. There's a lot of tension between them and the power imbalance between them is clear. Ich is timid and doesn't exhibit much power as Danny who is much more controlling. However, it doesn't remove the fact that Danny is in a lesser position and is vulnerable to her employers’ actions, such as the scene where Maxim tries to make Ich pretend to fire Danny…fun fact: that part was so well written that I had the strong urge to knock Maxim out.

Ich’s characterization is very fun to read because she’s so repressed that physical touches wreck her and I think that’s great lmao. In the first chapter, Danny has her hands on Ich’s shoulders and Ich describes it as “I was surprised at how cool her hands were, how almost pleasant the sensation was, and I shivered.” I gasped like some scandalized high society lady when I read that part because I KNEW Ich was gonna desire more of Danny’s touches.

Her imagination also kills me. For example, after Danny says, “my Rebecca” in the first chapter, Ich imagines them together:

“An image came to me then, of Mrs. Danvers brushing Rebecca’s hair, of the gentle way she would have pulled it back from her neck, the way her fingers would have grazed Rebecca’s skin, and how then she would have bent down, and…”

ICH PLEASE FINISH THAT THOUGHT. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR MORE OF IT. OHHHHH MY GOSH I love it when Ich’s wild imagination is used because it’s sometimes dirty images that reveal her feelings. (In ganz unerwartet she imagines Danny with Beatrice and gets jealous and reading that made me die haha.) Also, the fact she has a praise kink is SOOOOOO GOOD! And the fact Danny teases her about it? CHEFS KISS!! The smut is literally the best thing ever. It’s soooo good. (I feel like I should send you flowers, food, or whatever just to thank you for it).

I also love the way Danny is written because she is usually stoic and yet there are hints throughout the story that reveal her emotions, such as the mention of her hands twitching by her sides. You capture her love obsession with Rebecca perfectly, such as the details of Danny becoming passionate when she talks about her former mistress.

I also love that Danny changes slowly throughout the story. In the beginning she doesn’t really like Ich and is aggressive with her.

“You think I don’t know that?” she hissed. Her grip was tight and she pulled me closer to her. “Do you think, Mrs. de Winter, that I am not excruciatingly aware that you are not Rebecca?”

And so when Danny acts tender I LOSE MY SHIT.

“No. Don’t be.” A smile ghosted across her face. “To tell you the truth, Mrs. de Winter, I don’t think I mind it so much now.” She kissed my jaw again, softly. “At the least, I’d prefer you call me that than Favell.”

THAT PART? I LOVED THAT PART! I LOVED IT A LOT. I love the hate-fucking but it’s great when Danny is a nice person for once lmao. When she has some fun with Ich and teases her? THAT’S SOME GOOD STUFF. When she has an actual genuine smile? 10/10!!! When she actually considers Ich’s feelings? NICEEEE. Those rare moments knock me out. (In ganz unerwartet she’s careful to not damage the wings on Ich’s costume and I loved that small detail sooooooooooo much).

Finally, I wanna say that sometimes I read this fic (and your other Rebecca fics) at 3am in the morning and so i lose sleep but that’s okay cuz I ALWAYS enjoy reading them. :D

(Also, I’m sure you worked really hard on this fic because it’s high quality!)
