also, when i finally snap what i am going to do is kill everyone involved in producing the chicago style manual

#right now i am editing a book for my great uncle which is a huge relief #bc i edited two graduate theses for two of my mom's students last semester and. Reglear Writing is SO EASY after that #like it's always kind of weird and sometimes tricky to edit stuff that's in a specific field you are not in but like #you can usually figure out everything you need to make sure the grammar is right and everything #(and i am not editing for content thank god. i would charge WAY more if i was)#BUT. the seminary uses chicago style and i don't know Fuck about chicago style #but the one student in particular needed a 100 page thesis edited in Like A Week and there was No One Else Who Could Do It.#so i had to just. check the manual every time i had any question about the formatting #and to be clear i do NOT have an opinion on academic styles and which is better and if i ever do i want to be put out of my misery BUT #the chicago manual of style is laid out like Garbage and i felt violent every time i had to look something up #IT DOESN'T HAVE PAGE NUMBERS IN THE INDEX #i want retribution

The thing we know JC truly puts so much weight upon that he feels meaningless without it?#Yeah that's pretty terrifying. I hope WWX hugs back (he will not)#I have a lot more thoughts on Wang Lingjiao and Mianmian but I will keep them for later.#WLJ is a character I feel got done a little dirty because she has a ton of interesting potential that gets pushed aside for Mean Villainess #Let's be fully honest. Wen Chao and Wang Lingjiao are *THE* characters the Protag of one of those 'Reincarnated as the villain!' stories #Set up to be assholes to the main character and meeting a horrible end in retribution.#Do you think MXTX thought about that? How Wen Chao is basically the original Shen QiugQiu?#Who's going to be the brave soul who writes A transmigrator in wen chao's body (accidently makes wwx fall in love with him) story?#Though If we are going with “any mxtx character sho dies transmigrates to another book” WHO is the transmigrator?#Hear me out. I think it should be Original Liu Qingge. I think he and wwx would make a funny duo and I want to see it so bad.#AND the contrast of womanizer Wen Chao VS 'What is a woman' LQG.

Hmmm just gonna spit this headcanon out in text post form since A. I don't think I could exposit it well enough in image form and B. It's not actually textually/thematically substantiated and I don't like actually staking my stuff on just vibes alone*

But anyway. I'd say it's pretty evident that all the islanders forgot their names, right? King obviously. Because why the hell else would he do that, but also Siffrin No Middle Names No Last Name.

They're 'pretty sure' they've 'always' been 'Just Siffrin' 'as long as they can remember'. It's a pretty cruel twist of the knife to say that they don't even get to keep their birth name as a memento, which is why I'm saying as such.

My utterly unsubstantiated claim is I think it'd be cute to say that Sisyphus *is* the name Siffrin initially picked, assuming the myth of King Sisyphus is recontextualised as idk, just a play or something in the setting. But I like the idea of Siffrin going 'oh shit 🫵 he's just like me fr' at a tortured fictional character long before the irony kicks in.

As for how Sisyphus -> Siffrin. I think that chronic mumbler and emotional doormat Sif just did not correct people who misheard the name during their time travelling, and went through enough places with incompatible phonologies (pronounceable sounds in the language) without ever really writing it down that it just got kinda. Changed until it was unrecognisable, and Siffrin just went with it until the earlier pronunciations slipped out of their swiss-cheese brain. And they just kinda don't remember any of that.

Also, something something the horrid realisation that Siffrin also named themselves after a King. Just not as blatantly.

*(though I think there's something here about Siffrin, a guy from a belief system that seems to thoroughly disincentivise autonomy and self-motivated choice continuously having their hand forced to make changes/choices they don't want but have no choice but to... It's not solid enough to really back this up tbh, but it informs it.)

Anyway.

#theres also something one of my french-speaker friends said about siffrin's official pronounciation being the feminine way to pronounce -in?#which i dont know enough about to really corroborate and theyre busyyyy and havent started the game yet so i cant really ask #im sure someone else has already voiced this easy-to-come-up-with headcanon anyway but just in case nobody has i decided to post it #isat #isat spoilers #in stars and time #isat siffrin #isat loop #i also personally picture sif (and loop especially) being more hostile to the concept of changing themselves after The Encounter #both of them being big grudge-holders and that 'want' to control your own destiny being clearly against how they interpret the universe #as for whether they should be so hostile? probably not! but they appear to be anxious in fear of some kind of divine retribution should #they like. ever even dare to Want. and uh. well. that certainly went well for Loop. not sure they'd be gung-ho to do it again #so Loop being able to go 'oh well it wasn't my REAL name' as a salve for having to make a new identity AGAIN....#while sif is explicitly clinging to it as an anchor for Who They Are If Nothing Else.. they can upset each other and also mirabelle i think #lucabytetalks

if anyone has no idea what I've been talking about recently, I suggest you go to @fanonical or @nyancrimew , who explain this better than I ever could, but from what I can tell, basically staff has been ignoring reports of harassment against trans women, one member of staff was actively banning trans users, and the CEO started a smear campaign against a trans woman because she jokingly said she wished he would get exploded with hammers (you know, the kind of thing I say regularly--because he wasn't doing anything to protect trans users and hired the aforementioned transphobic staff member), claiming that it was 'a death threat' and that she was 'being violent'....nevermind that she was getting much worse anon harassment with actual death threats on the regular. And then when he banned her and she went to a different site, he followed her there to continue the smear campaign instead of being normal and dropping the subject.

#how did i do #i don't want to oversimplify or get it wrong #not a threat #genuinely though it's insane and very hypocritical of staff to call this place the queerest place on the internet and then do this #also it's so obviously retribution with her ban because like. actual death threats don't always get people banned.#and MY threats (the same level of joke as exploding hammers) have always been fine because they're obviously jokes and not real.#which makes me wonder...if I were publicly trans #would that be different? I have a nasty suspicion that it might be.

Fallen Hero fan zine 2024 interest check!

So uuuuh not to be a freak who plans far too many projects, but, would anyone be interested in a fan zine for Fallen Hero?

I've looked around but haven't found any ongoing projects and would love to start one if there's enough interest.

I don't have much experience organizing fandom things (at least not any zines) so if 1 or 2 people would like to help I'd very much appreciate it!

I'm thinking that each contributer would get 2 pages to do what they want with, be it art, writing, a very short comic, a collage or the like. We could do it with a theme or very free, TBD later on.

If there's enough interest I really think we could make it into something fun! Just let me know if you would like to contribute or help organize, or both!

Kana and Ruby were desperate to be seen by Aqua/Goro. Meanwhile, Akane sought to see—understand—the real Aqua.

Aqua shines the spotlight on Kana to save her from her bad habits. He does the same for Ruby, freeing her from her burden.

The manga puts a lot of emphasis on the way Goro was Ruby's light, on the way Aqua brought out Kana's radiance. We're shown that Sarina wants to marry him, that Kana wanted to be his idol. Despite this, neither is privy to the burden Aqua is carrying.

With Aqua and Akane, the manga paints a different picture: It actually allows Akane to get involved. Aqua saved her life and ever since she has been doing her best to save his heart in turn.
