i. guess the reason i watched so much trashy anime in high school was bc i watched so much anime in the first place. and if you wanna watch shows about high schoolers then eventually you’re gonna have to watch the trashy stuff (not to mention i like girls sooooo so so much). but i wanted to watch something romance-y and rompy so i’m watching rent-a-girlfriend bc i’ve heard good things abt it being fun and an interesting look at relationships and pretending and satisfaction etc and i’ll give it and my high school self credit in that this is super fun. unfortunately though so far any interesting commentary it could be giving through all the different times of girls in its cast is super overshadowed by how badly it wants you to hate every single girl except the main one
#i also just read jessica jung's second book the other day and the first one was questionable but this one was literally just the story#of how she got booted out of girls generation with like changed names#literally 10000% undeniably just her telling her story in a really one-sided way where you're supposed to hate everyone but her#and i hate to brush it off like that bc i'm sure some of the stuff she puts her self insert through happened and that does suck#management turning their back on her and everything#but the girls who are so obviously supposed to be the rest of snsd in the book are not given any forgiveness or any grace or agency#literally they're just flat and mean and jealous of how the protag can't do anything but win#so you come out of it feeling like you know what jessica the only person you're making me resent here is you#bc there's no way a situation could be that black and white and there's no way that 8 real people could be that flat and cruel with no#motivation at all#anyway i'm thinking abt that bc this show is also like really dead-set on making every other girl horrible so you'll like the main one#and the worst part is i love the main one! she's so male gaze-y but she's so likable and nice and she like has feelings and boundaries#only so much agency in a story like this but she does get at least some#the rest of the girls have to be like totally fake and cruel-hearted or obnoxiously unable to take a hint#and it's like dude we get it you don't actually like women. you could show it a little less#and then the story would be so much more interesting because you'd actually be talking about like people and emotions#instead of weird cardboard cutouts that are getting in the way of our main couple#i'm exaggerating a little bc i did watch bunny girl senpai as it aired and then rewatched it last year#and that's also pretty trashy but it definitely cares about its girls more#so a step up from this. this one is fun though#personal

series masterlist
There were so many things about Jung Jaehyun that annoyed you, that most of the time you couldn’t even remember what they were. Right now, it was the way he obnoxiously chewed with his mouth open. You sighed, glancing out of the window of the diner at the darkening sky. It was the night before Valentine’s day, and since Jaehyun would be going on a date with Mina, the two of you were celebrating tonight. At least that was the plan before Mina had walked through the diner’s door.
So here you sat, a complete third wheel as you fiddled with Jaehyun’s birthday/Valentine gift under the table. The two of them were engrossed in conversation, and you could do nothing but watch as they laughed at one another.
You couldn’t fault them really, they were still in the honeymoon stage of their relationship. Plus, it’s not like you didn’t like Mina. She was sweet, and really talented and pretty. You just didn’t think they were good for each other. You hadn’t ever liked any of Jae’s significant others. It wasn’t anything personal, it just always seemed like he fell too fast, and ended up heartbroken a few months later. You let out another sigh before slipping your coat on.
“Jae, I’m gonna head out,” you spoke quickly, sliding out of the both, “I forgot I had a thing with my parents.”
You waited for a second for him to acknowledge you, but he was in his own world. You just nodded, letting out a little sarcastic chuckle. You pulled your bag up on your shoulder, saying another goodbye before walking out of the diner's doors and into the chilly February night.
You made your way through the parking lot, walking home by yourself. A much different ending to this night than you had thought. You took one last look back, frowning at the scene you saw through the window. Jaehyun sat across from Mina now, her figure filling the side of the booth where yours was normally found. They sat with their hands intertwined, and the way he smiled at her made your heart clench.
You made your way through the streets of your little town, trying (and failing) to get Jaehyun out of your mind. Kicking rocks as you came across them, your thoughts trailed to last year's Valentine’s day. How naive you had been to think that Jaehyun wouldn’t find someone else to love. It wasn’t until you really felt the chill on your cheeks that you realized you had been crying.
“God, what a drama queen,” you said to yourself, wiping the wetness from your cheeks quickly.
The truth was, you were having a rough start to high school. Jaehyun was your only friend, and those who were close to you last year swiftly abandoned you the first week of 9th grade. You couldn’t blame Jaehyun, he had three times as many friends as you did, and as much as you hated to admit it, he was doing better with you keeping a bigger distance from him at school. You knew he wasn’t distancing himself on purpose, in fact, he probably didn’t notice. Your only solace were the weekends spent with him. Doing the things you had always done before. But even those were getting harder and harder to plan, with him spending most of his freetime with Mina.
It was foolish to have gotten this excited about celebrating tonight. And now here you were sad and disappointed that things hadn’t turned out like you imagined. You pushed open the front door of your house, slipping your shoes off and making your way to your bedroom. You carelessly threw Jaehyun’s gift on the bed. You’d have to give it to him the next time you saw him. Whenever that would be.
You got ready for bed, avoiding looking in the mirror as much as you could. You hated watching yourself cry, it just made you feel worse. You plopped down on the bed, lightly pushing Jaehyun’s gift off of the edge with your foot. You sighed as you pulled your stuffed deer closer to your chest. Your thoughts were a swirling mess, your feelings were too.
You thought back to last year, how you were able to tell Jaehyun everything so easily. How he would listen to you attentively and hug you until you felt better. He always made you feel better. So why was it that you were so hesitant to share your feelings with him now. You lay awake for a while, thinking about everything, the feeling of loneliness filling you as the clock hit midnight.
You pulled out your phone, the bright light making your eyes squint, but your fingers tapped lightly on the screen anyway. “Happy birthday, dork.” Your text message read, a tear falling down your cheek as you took a deep breath. Today was supposed to be your day. Yours and Jaehyun’s.
The buzz from your phone made you rub your bleary eyes. “You are always the first person to say it bambi <3.”
You stared at his response awhile, your heart skipping a beat every time your eyes scanned over the heart he sent at the end. “Pull yourself together.” You thought, hitting your head lightly with your hand. It was easy to fall asleep after that, the promise of good dreams featuring Jaehyun motive enough for you to actually get some rest.
--
You stood in front of your locker, chatter filling the hall in the time that was left before first period. You were slipping your books into your locker, at least the ones that you wouldn’t need until after lunch. Your thoughts had once again trailed to Jaehyun. He was on your mind today, not like the past three days he had also been on your mind. You blew out the air in your cheeks, trying to drive his dimpled smile from your mind. Surprisingly it worked.
The rest of the school day passed by pretty normally. Everyone was a little off of their rocker and excited at every sign of romance they could see. From Jessica getting a bouquet of flowers to Jack and Jeremy kissing in the hallway, your peers were gung-ho for any sign of love. You, however, were a little less ecstatic. It wasn’t like you were pining over anyone, especially Jaehyun, you just missed your best friend.
You made your way through the school, weaving your way in and out of students who were hurrying to get home so that they could go to their respective valentine’s day plans. You, however, had nothing to do later. Even your parents were ditching you to go on a date.
It wasn’t until you felt a hand in your own that you stopped zoning out and glanced at the person who had slid your hand into their own. To be fair, you knew who it was before you even looked. You smiled up at Jaehyun, wrapping your other arm around his waist in a quick hug.
“Don’t you have a date with Mina?” you asked as JAehyun walked with you in the direction of your houses.
“Technically, yes,” he started, “but I figured I owed you one for completely brushing you off yesterday.”
“You do, you asshole,” you smiled up at him, his pout deepening at your teasing, “but that doesn’t mean I want Mina to get mad at you, or me for that matter.”
“If she gets mad at me for wanting to spend my birthday with my best friend then, we aren’t gonna last very long.”
You just shook your head as you unlocked your back door, Jaehyun hovering close to you in order to stay warm.
“I know you don’t mean that, Jay,” you spoke quickly, leading him up to your room and starfishing on your bed.
“I do mean it,” he whispered, throwing himself next to you on the bed. He looked you in the eyes, his hand finding yours as he smiled, “you are the most important girl in my life, bambi.”
Your stomach flipped, a grin spreading across your face as butterflies exploded in your body at his words. The same feeling you had last night at his text message filled your body again. You couldn’t resist it. You couldn’t stop yourself from grinning like an idiot.
As you lay there on your bed, Jaehyun’s hand in yours and his dimples causing your heart to pound, you realized one thing. The most annoying thing about Jung Jaehyun, and the worst thing he has ever done.
He made you fall irreversibly in love with him.

Encountering His Crush [Hoseok and Namjoon]
Sorry they are mega long, but I had an idea and rolled with it. Also, the title doesn’t really do it justice, but really had no idea how to name this reaction... I may fix them up in the future, but for now enjoy a little bad boy au and let me know what you think~
Enjoy~
Hoseok
Tumblr media
Jihye understood why her dance teacher wanted her contemporary class to join with her hip hop class. She understood that she wanted her students to find another form of dance that they could use to express themselves. What Jihye didn’t understand was why she was paired up with the fuck boy from her high school, Jung Hoseok. The moment he paired with her, Jihye was prepared for the worse.
He approached her with a plastered grin, “Hey, it’ll be fun working with you, Jihye. I’m Hoseok.”
Jihye stood as she finished her stretches, “I know who you are. Apparently you know me as well.”
He smirked, “I know all the girl’s names at our school.”
“Lovely. Anyway, I’m serious about this. If you’re just going to fuck around, I’ll ask our teacher to switch my partner.”
“We can fuck around if you want” he teased. When he didn’t get a reaction from her he held up his hands, “I kid I kid. Dance is the one thing I take seriously. How about you meet me at the hideout and we can practice?”
“The hideout?”
Hoseok nodded, “Well it’s not a hide out since everyone knows it. Just meet me at BTS club room. You know the abandoned music room.”
Jihye sighed, “As if I have a choice… only during my lunch, free period, and after school.”
Hoseok snapped his fingers, “Damn, I was hoping I could convince you to skip a class or two.”
The next couple of weeks, the duo met at the abandoned music room or at the dance academy. The first week they had spent trying to figure each other out. Both had a love of music and dance. They both used it to express themselves, but Jihye only ever did contemporary. Hoseok, skilled in both, taught her a way to combine the two dances. Jihye found herself enjoying her time with Hoseok and would spend time with him over and above what she needed. Hoseok’s fuck boy personality was shoved in a corner when she was around him. He showed her his other side, his true side, the one she called his sunshine personality.
As they danced in sync in the abandoned music room, the door slid open with a bang startling them both, “THERE YOU ARE JUNG HOSEOK!” Their homeroom teacher was red in the face as he stormed inside, “Skipping detention? I’m sick of your shit, son. You’re suspended until further notice.” Hoseok’s eyes widened as he tried to explain why he wasn’t in detention, but he was too shock to reply.
Jihye’s mouth dropped as she thought up a good lie. “Wait sir, it’s my fault he’s missing detention. Please don’t punish him!” Jihye lied drawing confused expressions from both their teacher and Hoseok. “I signed up for a dance scholarship through my dance academy and I needed a partner… My instructor recommended Hoseok because he’s really good. I really need the scholarship to get in a good school.”
Hoseok’s mouth fell open at how fast she pulled a lie from her hat and it fell even more when their homeroom teacher nodded. “I see. Well, I wish you spoke to me about it first, Ms. Jihye, but good luck.” He shot Hoseok a glare, “If I find out you skipped out on the dance practices, I’ll have you back in detention.” Hoseok nodded quickly as their teacher straightened his suit jacket. “Yes well… Good luck Ms. Jihye.”
“Thank you sir!” She grinned as he walked out and shut the door behind him.
Hoseok looked back at Jihye, “I owe you one. I could not get suspended.”
“I know… Our teacher would kick you out of the academy if you did.”
He threw himself in a chair and leaned back, “No joke. Then I wouldn’t know what to do with myself. I’m only good at dance.”
Jihye sat on the ground cross legged, “That’s not true.” He looked over at her with a raised eyebrow. “I’ve seen you rap with Namjoon and Yoongi. You’re pretty good at that too.”
Hoseok let out a chuckle, “You’re the only one who thinks that.”
“Then that means I could be your first fan when you become a rap trio?” She teased.
Hoseok smiled as he looked down at her, “I wouldn’t mind having such a beautiful talented girl like you as my number one fan.” He winked.
She fought down a blush as she cleared her throat and stood, “Okay, back to practice. You think you can just sit and judge?”
Hoseok bit the side of his lower lip as he looked over her, “I could try. Hopefully you don’t leave me to awestruck so I can focus.”
Jihye laughed as she grabbed her phone, “Oh stop it! I need you to focus!” She found the song she used for her solo dance and handed the phone over to Hoseok. He pressed play and watched her dance.
Namjoon
Tumblr media
Tasha scanned the books for the one she was looking for to help her with her English paper. She scanned the titles etched on the spines before she saw the one she needed. She let out a relieved sigh as she began to reach up to grab the book. However, as she went for it, another hand plucked it from it’s spot. She whipped back and her eyes widened when she saw Namjoon beside her.
He pulled the book to her level, “Were you looking for this book too?” Tasha swallowed as her mouth opened and closed. He held it out towards her, but Tasha ran off and hid in another row. Namjoon’s eyebrow rose for a second before he shrugged it off. He flipped through the pages of the book reading through it.
Tasha peeked around the bookcase and watched Namjoon as he leafed through the pages before shutting the book. She let out a squeak as she noticed him turn to leave and she hid again. When she heard him walk away she let out a sigh of relief. “I can’t believe I’d run into him here of all places.…”
The next day, she made her way into the school and on the steps she saw the familiar group of 7. She tightened her grip on her bag as she approached them. Hoseok smirked down at her as he shuffled over to her, “Hey” he drew out the word as he slung his hand on her shoulder. “You wanna come skip with me later?”
Tasha rotated her shoulder getting out of his grasp and continued her way to the stairs where Taehyung blocked. “Move.” She spoke in a monotone voice as she stood there waiting for him to move.
“What’s the magic word?” He smirked.
Tasha let out a low curse as she looked at him, “I’ll tell Jessica you’re flirting with other girls.”
The color drained from his face as his mouth fell open. “But I’m no–”
Namjoon and the others let out a laugh as Taehyung looked like a fish out of water, “That’s what you get, bro.” Namjoon met Tasha’s eyes and his eyebrows rose. Tasha looked down away from him as she used Taehyung’s frazzled self as the opportunity to flee into the school. Namjoon leaned back and clicked his tongue, “She ran off again.”
“Again? You know her, hyung?”
“No, I ran into her yesterday at the public library.”
Seokjin shrugged, “Maybe you scare her.” Namjoon thought on it for a minute just as the bell rang. Seokjin stood first, “I’m going to the music room. Who’s in?”
The guys agreed, but Namjoon, “Can’t. I actually have to attend English today.” He patted his legs and grabbed his bag, “See ya second period.” He headed off to class leaving the others behind.
When he entered the classroom, the sounds of the students talking silenced. There was a fear in the air that drew Tasha from her book. She looked up through her hair that fell in her face. She was shocked to see Namjoon at the entrance.
He strolled in not thinking a thing of the others as his eyes found her. He shuffled over to her and took a seat beside her, his assigned seat, “So that’s why you ran away from me twice…” He nodded as he looked around the room. Their classmates stared in horror and pity of Tasha.
Tasha looked back at her book as her breath quickened. She felt her hands shake as he leaned closer to her. “Can you not…” She whimpered.
Namjoon backed away quickly, “Yea, sorry. I just got distracted by your beauty.” Tasha buried her head in her book as Namjoon rested his head on his hand and watched her until class began.
Running into Namjoon at the library became a norm for Tasha. The fear she felt towards him slowly subsided. All the rumors of him being part of a gang and always involved in fights were just that… rumors. Namjoon was nothing more than a boy who skipped classes and got in trouble with the teachers.
Namjoon made it a point to greet her each time she ran into him at the library, but when they were at school they passed each other up in the halls like before. Namjoon figured it would be better to keep the rumors from involving her as he witnessed what happened after his first interaction with her. People grew fearful of getting near Tasha in fear they were the next target.
To Tasha, it was frustrating to act two different ways with one person and so she began to ignore Namjoon at the library. She had her head buried in a book as Namjoon approached her and pulled out the chair across from her. He cleared his throat to get her attention and Tasha flipped the page, “What Namjoon?”
“Oh, so you can speak.”
She set down her book and looked up at him, “So what?”
“Why have you been ignoring me?”
She glanced over her glasses as he put his hand on her book and pulled it down to the desk. Tasha took her glasses off as she let out an irritated sound. “Who cares why? We’re not friends.” She tugged the book from Namjoon only to have him hold it down more.
Namjoon took off his sunglasses and looked her in the eyes, “But we can be.”
“There’s nothing we have in common. Why would we?”
“We both love to read.” Tasha let out a sigh, “Is it because I ignore you at school?” Watching her eyes stray to the side confirmed his suspicions, “Look, Tasha… I do it because I saw how people began to avoid you because I spoke to you. If you want, I can talk to you at school.”
Tasha’s phone vibrated and she looked to see her mom’s number, “I gotta go. You could put away the book.” She stood and grabbed her backpack as she put her glasses in their case. She began to walk off but stopped short. Tasha looked back at him, “Also, talk to me at school. If I gave a damn about the others I wouldn’t be the quiet nerdy type.” She flashed him a smile as she held up a peace sign as she left.
Namjoon grinned as he leaned back in the chair, “That girl…”
