there has been a calm over the streets of washington since halloween. an easy winter, with a simple valentine’s day, a whole season without any sorts of issues may have lulled the city residents into a sense of peace. unfortunately peace never lasts forever in a city like this, and the calm unawareness that keeps people calm now will only leave them vulnerable in the end. it comes to them at night, knowledge that citizens wake up with out of the blue. a face and a name of someone else living in the city, and people just know by some form of magic in the city that it's a target, someone they have to take out. the city doesn't fill them with the malicious unnatural rage of other chaotic moments, but it gives them more knowledge, unavoidable consequences if they don't comply. it's kill or get killed, and if people don't get rid of their targets by the deadline the city will kill them instead. do you become a killer, stalking your prey in the middle of the night, or do you try and stay peaceful, even knowing what will happen to you as a result? and what of your own safety? after all, you woke up with someone else's face in your mind. who's to say someone else didn't wake up thinking of you?

TLDR; washington has been quiet from bloodshed for several months. it isn’t rare for the city to inspire something murderous within it’s citizens but this time it’s different. a city wide game of assassin, but with stakes far greater than the sort of game you’d play in school. everyone involved knows their target, knows that if they don’t succeed they’ll face the consequences, and knows that someone else is almost certainly trying to get the kill on them. will they be able to take out their target before it’s too late? or will they be unable to bring themselves to murder, even knowing the potential consequences?

OOC INFORMATION:

hello friends! we know it's been a little while since washington has had any proper chaos, so we're here to provide! we're so excited to bring you another slice of chaos to have some fun with! with the opportunity for both murder as well as some ooc speculation and paranoia. this is a fun chance to make characters unaware, stress everyone out, and even lightly betray your friends! please read on for all of the rules and information surrounding the event and please as always have fun friends! we hope you have a fun time and don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions ♥

THE GAME:

loosely based off of the assassin game often played in high school all characters are given a target to kill. with the magic of washington characters involved just woke up on the start of the event knowing who their target was.

they also know that if they don’t kill their target by the end of the event they themselves will die. characters don’t know how this will happen but they’re certain it’s true. the admins will keep track of targets and who succeeds in their task, and make sure that the promised punishment happens at the end of the event.

there is no magic making characters suddenly murderous, just the knowledge that it’s kill or be killed, and if they wish to save themselves they will have to kill someone else

THE TARGETS:

due to the nature of the event we will be individually dming people with their character’s involved and the targets of those characters. KEEP THIS SECRET

part of the fun of this event is not knowing who is targeting your character. anyone you submitted for the event has the chance of being a victim and you don’t know what thread that might happen in

we will send out targets a few days after this is posted. if you no longer wish for your character to be involved in the event now that you know the details please reach out to us promptly so we can remove them from the list

THE MURDERS:

though usually these are more preplotted, these murders will operate a little bit closer to how they did in the murder mystery event. if your character is a potential murder subject they can be killed off in any thread without warning

with that being said it’s not really any fun if people are just murdered immediately, so please try and wait until there are a few notes on the thread before jumping in to kill your target

also, do your best to keep up replies to all of your threads. obviously it can be easier to reply to preplotted threads, but in this instance if you'd like the fun of potentially getting your character murdered you will have to make sure to keep up with random threads as well

in addition, since murders cannot be preplotted please do not do anything too extreme in killing someone else’s character. we will be providing a list of hard no's for all written murders based on the triggers submitted in the poll so make sure you don't cross those lines!

any character submitted as a target can be killed by normal means. if they are usually overpowered and only able to die in specific ways the magic will nullify that for the length of the event

things will also be different than normal in that we will insist a certain amount of threads be kept chronological. if you get a surprise reply that your character is murdered in you can no longer finish a thread of your character killing their target. any other previous threads started can still be finished, but it’s kill or be killed and your character cannot do both

when someone is killed the person they are targeted is freed from the curse and no longer has to complete their murder to survive. for example, if adam has to kill charlie and charlie has to kill lute, if adam is killed before charlie completes her murder she no longer has to kill lute. of course, if you’re well into your murder thread by the time this happens you’re welcome to finish it up, however this does give some people the opportunity of an out, should they have a lot of characters in the mix, or some who may have a hard time with murder. we will do our best to keep people properly updated with this so you are aware if you can safely drop your murder thread.

there will be a channel in the discord to send character deaths as soon as they're done, please make sure to keep it updated!

the usual rules regarding a character’s memory status still applies here. if your character is killed their memory status will change though we will update the pages once the entire event is over.

THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

characters who were not submitted can of course still get themselves involved. like most murder events the city is in a state of disarray, as people are dropping quickly, and there is violence in the streets. feel free to say your character is out trying to hide and take care of themselves or is out helping other people.

you are welcome to get creative with it. if your character isn’t the sort to murder but they have a close connection who is they can always outsource in order to kill their target, the system can be cheated. it doesn't care who does the murder as long as the target winds up dead, just make sure this plotting is being done very quietly!

HOUSEKEEPING:

please make sure to tag all event threads hwevent17!

you will receive your targets over dm on discord from either admin maig or admin sunny, most likely a mix of the two of them. in order to make sure admins can have some fun with this event as well we are splitting up the groups of targets and victims in order to keep our own characters secret. in order to keep these secrecy as tight as possible we will not be sending out targets via the main!

though we highly encourage everyone to prioritize their event threads we will not be pausing regular threads during the event. we know that these sort of chaotic events are not everyone's sort of thing, so if you're more comfortable regular threads can be continued during this time.

make sure to tag all triggers! obviously this is one of the more violent events and we want you all to be able to have fun with it but make sure to keep the dash a safe space for everyone! you can find a list of our triggers here!

feel free to begin plotting now! we recommend waiting on full starter calls until targets are sent out so you can make sure to get whatever threads you need while staying sneaky, but you're welcome to begin plotting whenever you like!

here is my valentines event plotting / starter call. i haven't decided if i'm dropping my pre-event threads yet, i may try keep them in my drafts for afterwards, though i will definitely be continuing anything majorly plot heavy. i'm taking from marios idea & offering 2 in fandom starters, and 2 out of fandom starters per muse. this also doesn't apply if our muses are each others dates, they will go separate as well. also here is a link to my currently unfinished outfits !! like & I'll dm you, or reply with any starter requests !!
