‘NGL I actually hate how PB treated Danielle in HSS:CA. We talk about how awful she was, which is true, but I don't think we talk enough about how PB actually wrote it. I appreciate them trying to make her more realistic (or at least less outwards as an antagonist) than the OG antagonists and trying to flesh her out a little more in that one premium scene, but they literally dropped the ball with her after Book 1's arc. OG's antagonists worked because even if they were supposedly a bit more unrealistic, they had a much stronger presence in the stories. They were allowed to be a lot more versatile and dynamic, and they actually got closure at the ends of their respective stories. Even Max and Kara, who were the weakest of the OG antags. Characters like Zoe and Brian actually even got some character development over the trilogy (technically Brian got worse as the trilogy went on, but it worked and point is we saw him go into a different place as a character from how he was in Book 1). But with Danielle, she just gets written off into irrelevance once she can no longer compete with MC over Rory (oh wow, another female antagonist who exists solely to be a straw loser to compete with the MC over a love interest, yay). We literally never see her again outside of that one cameo in Book 2– she says she has been going to therapy only if you took that premium scene to help her turn over a new leaf.  And I mean, it's good that they tried to have her change as a character, but it has about as much value as a Family Guy cutaway gag. So she felt very half-baked to me honestly.’

Imagine if you will that in book 1 of Class Act Danielle tried to turn the older kids (og MC’s friends) against Class Act’s MC before the whole audition debacle happens. She saw the two MCs talking and walked over to Maria, og MC’s girlfriend, known to be a bit jealous, and said, “Wow, I can’t believe she’d flirt with your girlfriend right in front of you like that.”

Maria stood there in stunned silence for a minute before she burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny? Shouldn’t you go tell her off or something?” Danielle asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

Maria wiped a tear from her eye before responding, “Yeah, I’ll get right on that. I’m sure my girlfriend will be thrilled to know someone was concerned about her little cousin talking to her. How scandalous.”

Danielle’s eyes went wide as a blush overtook her face before walking away in a shameful silence.

I’d like to think that Maria would then tell this story to the Class Act MC when they hangout with the og squad after being shunned by almost everyone to show that there are people out there who know that Danielle is full of it and that the truth would come out eventually.
