I think the most important post on this website is that post about choosing to love on purpose because it has been the most helpful mindset in getting through this month and this holiday and coming out on the other side still having had a good time despite everything

#tw for talk of death in the tags #last year a friend of mine died the day before halloween after a two day fiasco of patchy up and down news from different sources #it was an emotional roller coaster and a tragedy that shook my entire social circle. it's still having massive ripple effects a year later #coming up on this october the idea of enjoying halloween #of looking forward to it #felt absolutely hopeless and really i hated to think about it for the first week or two of the month #despite the fact that halloween has always been one of my absolute favorite holidays #but at some point i just made the choice. i am going to continue to love this holiday. #it's going to be hard. but I'm going to enjoy this. on purpose. #So i put together a fun playlist. and some silly little outfits for school. #and watched fun horror movies. and went trick or treatin with a friend i love dearly and my sibling and his friend #and that didn't mean that i didn't think about him and his death. that i wasn't regularly stuck reliving those moments from last year #but it did mean that i came out on the other end having had a good time despite everything. never forgetting him along the way. #grieving is a long and messy process. but it gets better. #and i wish anyone in a similar situation the time and healing that will allow you to choose to love life again. to love on purpose.
