i know this is a stupid thing to say but mcleod was one of my fav players and the fact that he surrendered himself to the police makes me sick. you really can’t trust anyone sigh

honestly i didn’t even know about it until today. i’ve seen some stuff on instagram and i didn’t even realize this was happening. it is terrible to see and i feel awful for the woman involved in this :(

it does make you sick seeing stuff like this happen and i hope they get the punishment they deserve.

26. Who do you think is the best goalie?

I feel like I'm the worst person to ask, especially as a leafs fan because it seems like every goalie always has a career game against us so I feel like my perception is a bit skewed lmao. I also think every single goalie is superhuman and I never get how they do what they do. So I guess I don't really have an answer, I think they're all great :)

29. Thoughts on puck bunnies

I honestly have zero problem with it. Hockey players are hot. I get it. As long as they don't make the players uncomfy, I say all the power to them.

30. Have you ever jumped on a bandwagon?

The blues in 2019. That was the most fun I've had watching a hockey team that wasn't the leafs. Gloria forever.

3. Favorite rivalry:

My favorite rivalry for the Canes is Canes and Rags rivalry. It’s always fun to see to of the best teams in their division go head to head. Outside of the Canes I’m a big fan of the Florida rivalry and Pennsylvania rivalry.

Sidney Crosby for sure. He’s been the best for a long time and I think he’ll continue to be the best until he retires.

hii! im new to hockey and a lil confused so i have a question and your 'always be kind' thing makes me feel like this is a safe place to ask it, even tho its probably a dumb question!

can anyone enter the draft? also, on draft day, is it possible for someone to show up and *not* get drafted, or is everyone there guaranteed a spot/do they know? im a lil confused. im literally picturing it like the reaping ceremony in the hunger games hahaha

hi love!! i’m so glad you feel like this is a safe space to ask this question, that’s my goal! it is most definitely not a dumb question i promise you.

so, to my understanding, any eligible player between 18 and 20 (there are cutoff dates for birthdays but idk it off the top of my head. i think sometime in september and december respectively) can enter the NHL entry draft. i think the age cap is 21 for non-american players as well. they do have to be a player though, and there are requirements i believe.

technically no player is guaranteed to be drafted outside of the top, elite prospects, so it is possible to show up to the draft and not be signed to a team. in this case, they have the option to sign with a team as a free agent should a team want them, or go back to their school/minor league team.

it is in a way like the reaping, but those who get chosen get the best deal 🤣

🐺 Build a NHL starting line up (3F, 2D, 1G) based on a really weird criteria for comedic effect (e.g. guys with names that sound like Dylan).

Criteria: January Birthdays near my birthday (years between ‘97 & ‘01) (aka +/- 2 from my birth year ‘99)

Forwards: Nico Hischier (NJD, 01/04/99), Connor McDavid (EDM, 01/13/97), & Kirby Dach (MTL, 01/21/01)

Defense: Alexander Romanov (NYI, 01/06/00) & Noah Dobson (NYI, 01/07/00) (yes the islanders dmen both rock and have birthdays near each other and me)

Goalie: Vítek Vaněček (NJD, 01/09/96) (I couldn’t find a goalie in the years that had played a full nhl season so Vitek is the closest)

👑 If you could add an award to the NHL awards, what would it be and who would be its inaugural recipient?

I would make an Goalie Tandem award that goes to the Tandem that lets in least Goals over Expected throughout the season (minimum of 25 games each). And I would want Sorokin and Varlamov to win, but I’ll admit rn it would likely be Swayman and Ullmark.

🎶 What would your goal song be and why?

My goal song would be Shut Up and Dance by WALKTHEMOON because it’s well known enough for the crowd to sing along to, it’s a positive upbeat bop, and it’s like inviting everyone into the celebration “don’t you dare look back/just keep your eyes on me!” And I just love love that song. It was played so much when it came out but I’ve never gotten tired of it.

Best hockey memory: flames winning the playoff series against the stars in 2022. i watched that game in the red lot outside the saddledome and my god when the flames won!!!!!?!? the ENERGY....i always joke that i've been chasing that feeling ever since 😭 nothing beats playoffs hockey

Favorite goal song: biased but i think TNT w the flames slaps, and i also loved the yotes 'howling for you'..

To nobody’s surprise I do want the Hurricanes to win the Cup. I think it would be very fun especially since it’s my first time watching and supporting the Canes.

26. Who do you think is the best goalie?

Pyotr Kochetkov without a doubt. I think he’s matured a lot over the season and he was one of the key reasons the Canes turned their season around in December/January.

29. Thoughts on puck bunnies?

As long as it’s safe, sane, and consensual I’m fine with it. Let people enjoy things and as long as they aren’t going too far or overstepping I don’t really see any issues.

30. Have you ever jumped a bandwagon? If so what team and when?

I don’t think I have? Since this is my first season watching I kinda picked my favorite teams arbitrarily besides the Canes. My other faves include Sharks, Kraken, Preds, and Canucks, so not exactly powerhouse teams 😂
