okay, idk, if this can be considered a hot take but letzz go.

I think some people are taking Hetalia too seriously. I mean, it's good that it mentions all these important historical events and stuff but folks let's not forget that it's just an anime, a comedic anime at that, so don't expect some world history class out of it, it's actually more focused on stereotypes (even the harmful ones) than history. Of course Hima did a great job with his historcal reaserch but it's not perfect so we should all take the historical chapters/episodes with a grain of salt. I actually like Hetalia better when it talks about culture and furbies rather than history.

What I'm trying to say is: don't take Hetalia too seriosusly. The fandom does a great job at portraying historical events through arts and fanfics, but Hetalia, the anime and manga, is not going to do that simply because it's too light-hearted for darker topics and I think it should stay that way.

"XYZ character is innacurate! XYZ people are nothing like him!" bro, chill down, this is not a country, this is an anime bish, he's not real. XYZ people are nothing like that — yes, this is how stereotypes work, stereotypes are lies~

This is a cartoon with 5mins long episodes, it's never going to be accurate.

Ladies and gentlemen i present you Thessaloniki on her Byzantine era✨. And Herakles(as Byzantine empire ofc). Thessaloniki was a really important city in eastern roman empire,the second most important city actually. The first one was obviously Constantinople. And held so much power that she was referred as Symvasilevousa,(co-regnant). Btw i imagine her having a sister-brother relationship with herakles other than city-country relationship? Also the clothes are from the 14th century. And i was bored to finish Herakles on the first pic,i admit😔
