I was recalling some things that Miguel's spanish dub VA said during an interview and he mentioned that he had to record a lot of lines that didn't make in to the movie, that some variants of those lines were spicier than the ones we know from the movie... he even mentioned that some of them were just too much for him, it makes me wonder what Miguel could have said

Trans folks will someday be revered as the visionaries they are. Until then, the violence must end.
The Human Rights Campaign has reported that at least 30 trans and gender non-conforming people were killed in the United States in 2023. 87% were people of color, with 50% being Black trans women. 77% were murdered with a firearm, and 50% were misgendered or deadnamed by authorities or the press. Anti-trans lawmakers have changed that. The political divide is creating “two Americas” for LGBTQ+ people. Abolitionists joined together to work for the immediate end to the institution of slavery and the cessation of racial discrimination and segregation. They faced steep opposition from many quarters, including a number of Christian denominations who asserted that sacred scripture not only condoned but mandated the practice of slavery.  Young people conducted a number of sit-in demonstrations at Southern lunch counters to end Jim Crow laws of segregated public facilities, all while enduring the abusive taunts of onlookers and the crashing batons of local police. Demonstrators faced imprisonment and the imposition of permanent criminal records. Feminists formed a new wave in the fight for women’s suffrage against a high tide of obstructionism within a patriarchal system of male domination and misogyny, and an attitude that the enfranchisement of women would destroy Christianity and civilization itself. The Church convicted physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei on the charge of heresy by insisting that the Earth revolves around the Sun, rather than, as per Church teaching, that the Earth was the immovable center of the universe with the Sun revolving around the Earth. Galileo spent the remainder of his life under house arrest. Joan of Arc, the teenager who helped defeat the English in her native France, became one of the greatest war heroes in French history. In spite of this, she was tried by the Catholic Church on the charge of heresy in rejecting Church authority in preference for direct inspiration from God, and most importantly, by donning men’s clothing. Joan died by burning at the stake. Alan Turing, mathematician, logician, philosopher, cryptanalyst, and one of the original creators of the computer was largely responsible for cracking Nazi coded messages, which many believe shortened the war by two to four years. Many also say he saved Great Britain. However, the British government chose to convict Turing on the charge of being homosexual and ordered him to undergo “chemical castration” by taking estrogen injections as an alternative to spending two years in prison. Turing took his life a few weeks before his 42nd birthday. Governments and powerful individuals have long devised ways of silencing opposition for the purpose of maintaining and extending their control and domination. San Ysidro McDonald’s Massacre
The San Ysidro McDonald’s Massacre occurred at a McDonald’s in the town San Ysidro of San Diego,CA on July 19, 1984. The perpetrator was 41 year old James Huberty, who fatally shot 21 people and wounded 19 others before being killed by police.
His wife, Etna, asked where he was going with a small arsenal of weapons and he replied with “I’m going to hunt humans.” He had been at that same Mcdonald’s with his wife and children earlier that day before the massacre. James walked into the Mcdonald’s with a semiautomatic rifle, a semiautomatic pistol and a 12-gauge pump shotgun. He told his family, “Goodbye, I won’t be back”.
On that day 45 people were in that Mcdonald’s. He then started killing and wounding many others inside and outside of the San Ysidro Mcdonald’s. Police then interfered and 27 yr old police SWAT sniper named Charles Foster sniped James and killed him instantly. 1984 McDonalds Massacre In San Diego
✖️ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢ: ᴄᴏɴᴛᴇɴᴛ ᴍᴀʏ ɴᴏᴛ ʙᴇ sᴜɪᴛᴀʙʟᴇ ғᴏʀ sᴇɴsᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ ᴠᴇɪᴡᴇʀs✖️
*ᶜᵒⁿᵗᵃⁱⁿˢ ᶜʳⁱᵐᵉ ˢᶜᵉⁿᵉ ᵖᵒᵗᵒˢ*
[San Diego, California]
Tumblr media
On July 17th, 1984, James Huberty called a mental health clinic to schedule an appointment after having concerning thoughts. Multiple errors happened within the call including the operator spelling Huberty’s last name wrong and considering him a non crisis call because he had never been mentally hospitalized before and appeared very polite. The clinic never called Huberty back, even though he sat by the phone waiting for hours.
On July 19th, Huberty and his family went to the San Diego zoo and then to McDonalds to have lunch. Huberty mentioned to his wife that the mental health clinic never called him back so “society had its chance.” When they returned home, Huberty kissed his family goodbye and walked out of the door holding multiple guns and loads of ammunition.
Tumblr media
At 3:56pm, Huberty arrived at the McDonalds on San Ysidro Boulevard. He was armed with a 9mm Browning HP semi-automatic pistol, a 9mm Uzi carbine, a Winchester 1200 12 gauge pump action shotgun, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. He entered the restaurant and without warning, opened fire spraying the inside of the McDonalds.
Tumblr media
Many 911 calls began flooding in around 4:00pm, but the 911 operator mistakenly gave police the address to a different McDonalds. This mistake delayed a lockdown and notification to random bystanders in the area who may pass by the tragedy.
Tumblr media
A couple driving by the area, three 11 year old boys walking to purchase ice cream, and an elderly couple walking toward the entrance of the McDonalds were all shot without warning. As police finally made it to the correct address and surrounded the area, Huberty turned on a portable radio and began dancing to the music as dead bodies were sprawled out around him. He made his way into the kitchen and found 6 employees that were attempting to hide from him. “Oh you’re trying to hide from me!”, he said before opening fire and killing three of them and critically wounding a fourth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Police tried hopelessly to follow Huberty’s movements inside the fast food restaurant, but the shattered glass made it extremely hard to track his placement. Authorities did not want to jeopardize more innocent lives. By 5:00pm that day, police surrounding the area were officially ordered to kill the suspect. A sniper on the scene was able to find the perfect angle and shoot Huberty directly in the chest which killed him instantly.
The mass shooting took place for 77 minutes. A total of 257 rounds were fired from Huberty. The massacre took the life of 17 people inside of the McDonalds. The only people who remained uninjured inside of the restaurant were six customers who hid in the basement. 4 victims were murdered outside of the restaurant.

This Passage Contains Potentially: swearing, violence, blood, angst, whump, fluff and smutty content. Chapter-specific warning: This chapter contains mention of pregnancy symptoms such as morning sickness, and Braxton Hicks contractions.
Summary: Snuka goes after both Roddy and Kirby, causing Rod and Snuka to get disqualifications and into actual fights.
Kirby's POV:
We were in the Boston Garden. I was sat next to the announcers desk and Snuka started yelling at me and then pulled me out of my chair and I fell backwards, over my own feet after trying to get away from a very pissed Snuka. Rod exited the ring, helping me up.
"Ya alright Kirbs?"
"I'm fine, Roddy, I fell over my own feet."
Rod quickly got back in the ring, followed quickly by an angered Snuka, holding a chair.
WHACK
"Roddy!"
I couldn't help the scream that escaped my lips when Rod's chest hit the mat.
I helped Rod to the back and stayed close to him, I turned my back to the locker room door for a few minutes as I leant against the wall, talking to Billie about Tito Santana.
"He's nice to me, hermana."
"So, you went out on a date?"
"Si, y'know, for a guy who's catchphrase is 'Arriba' I think he'd rather be 'debajo de mí'?"
"Billie, what does 'debajo de mí' mean?"
"Below me."
I felt a hand on the back of my arm and before I even realised who it was I had them in a sleeper hold. Upon realising who it was I swiftly let them go.
"I have never been in ma own sleeper hold, but I guess there truly is a first time for everything."
"Sorry, Roddy. I didn't realise it was you and I was just trying to protect mys-"
Rod cut me off with a gentle kiss.
"You're okay baby, if I were you, I would've done the same thing."
"I'll leave you two lovebirds alone, adios."
"Adios, hermana."
"I didn't know you could speak Spanish."
"I can only speak a little Spanish, Rod. I'm not gonna brag about something I'm not good at."
"What else can you do that I don't know about?"
"I speak a little French, a little German, some Norwegian, Irish Gaelic, Scots Gaelic and I speak Welsh fluently."
"How did ya learn to do the sleeper hold?"
"I watched you do it."
"So, you learnt from the best?"
"I guess I did, Roddy, I guess I did."
The next day I was at ringside for another Roddy vs Snuka bout.
After Snuka tossed Roddy back into the ring and cost himself the match he went after me.
Roddy got up just before Snuka started yelling insults in my direction.
Snuka started walking up to me as Roddy went to climb out of the ring.
The moment Rod's feet touched the floor, Snuka slapped me with the back of his hand right to my jaw, sending me sprawling to the floor.
Tony Colon, Jose Luis Rivera, Salvatore Bellomo and SD Jones had to run out to keep Snuka from attacking both me and Rod.
Rod kept going for Snuka until Orndorff, SD Jones and André held him back, with André helping me up.
McMahon gave Roddy three days to cool of, his next match being on the nineteenth and his next fight with Snuka being on the twentieth.
"That fucking asshole."
"Rod, focus on me, forget Snuka for the next three days, focus on me."
"He could have seriously hurt you, or worse…"
"I know," I mumbled out, putting a hand on my stomach, "Let's just get to Ohio and forget about all this shit."
"I'll treat ya, hon. What d'ya want to eat?"
"Burgers, then ice cream with maple syrup and blueberries."
"Ice cream and maple syrup?"
"Don't question a pregnant woman's cravings, boyo."
On the nineteenth, Roddy won against Rocky Johnson.
On the Twentieth Roddy and Snuka had a Fijian Strap match and Rod lost.
On the twenty-first Rod won against Salvatore Bellomo. On the twenty-second Rod won against B. Brian Blair. On the twenty-third Rod won against B. Brian Blair again, and again on the twenty-fourth.
On the Twenty-Sixth Rod lost by disqualification to Snuka.
On the Twenty-Seventh Rod, Adrian and Murdoch won against Snuka and the Samoans and After the show Rod and I hung out with the Tag Champs, Adrian and Murdoch as well as Ventura.
Ventura and me talked about Vickie for a short while and it seemed like Ventura was intrigued by her.
On the Twenty-Eighth in the Landover, Capital Centre. Rod defeated Snuka by Count-out, but they continued to brawl until myself and several others had to hold the two apart. Myself, Valentine, Orndorff and Orton held Roddy back so Snuka could get to the back, without Rod tearing him limb from limb.
On the Twenty-Ninth, Rod once again beat Snuka, after the Show Myself and Rod hung out with Orton and Orndorff.
On the Thirtieth, Rod had another bout with Snuka.
On the First of August, Rod won by count-out against Snuka, following the event we hung out with Ventura, Orton and Adonis.
I started to feel like thee days are blending together or repeating with only minor details changing, like the date and what exactly happens that day.
On the Second of August, Rod won against Snuka by count-out, again.
Again, on the Third, Rod, Adrian and Murdoch won against the Samoans and Snuka.
On the Fourth, Roddy won against Jimmy Snuka, again.
I drove home that night while Rod boarded a flight to Toronto, spending the fifth and sixth on my own.
I decided to spend a couple more days at home, until the Sixteenth.
On the Sixteenth, Rod, once again, had a bout with Snuka, which I was at ringside for.
On Friday the Seventeenth, Snuka noticed me at ringside after getting himself counted out and began yelling at me until the referee pulled him back and admonished him for doing so.
After the show we hung out with David (Schultz), Bobby (Orton) and Paul (Orndorff).
On the Saturday, myself and Bobby were backstage as Piper interviewed Sgt Slaughter.
On Monday, the twentieth Rod had yet another bout with Snuka and I decided to go back home to Salem for some well needed time to myself.
I didn't tell Rod, knowing he would try and stop me from leaving, I just left a note stating 'Need some time off, love you, will be in Salem.'
I reached the house by the Twenty-Third, answering the phone as it rung, right as I entered the kitchen.
"Hello?"
"Hi my love, did ya get home alright?"
"I got back fine, Roddy."
"When are ya gonna be back?"
"I'll be back on the first of September, alright, I'll meet you at the Philadelphia Spectrum, okay?"
"Okay."
I spent the following week, relaxing at home before driving back to see Roddy.
As I walked to ringside the crowd erupted into cheers and shouts of my name as well as 'Piper'.
The crowd continued to cheer as Rod climbed out of the ring and rushed up to me, pulling me into a loving embrace and pulling down my mask to plant a kiss on my lips, whilst the ref counted him out.
André and the crowd didn't seem to care about the fact that I had gotten Rod counted out of the bout, they only seemed to care that the Rowdy one had his right hand woman (or left, if Bob Orton was his right hand man) back by his side.
By the morning of the Seventh, Rod had noticed a subtle change in the way I dressed and I could tell that all throughout the day he was trying to pinpoint what was different about me.
That night, Roddy, Paul and Bobby took turns guessing what was different.
"Ya hair's different?" Orton started
"No."
"You got another tattoo?" Orndorff guessed
"No, although, that does sound like a good idea."
"Ya, uh " Rod paused, scanning from my boots to my hair before a wave of realisation hit him, "Ya finally look pregnant."
"What do you mean, Roderick?"
"The belly, you've got a slight bump."
"You're right, I dislike that I look slightly fat, but you're right."
"You're not fat, ya with child, there's a big difference."
It took another week for Rod to tell everyone.
It took another three weeks for Rod to get jealous of anyone paying me more attention than what seemed necessary.
By the Twelfth of October, I had started getting backache, the occasional passing faint feeling, as well as having some difficulty sleeping and 'Baby Brain' (aka forgetting very obvious things at random times). The morning sickness had gone away by this point.
But, the worst thing I started feeling was Braxton Hicks contractions.
The first time any of this really impacted me was after Rod had filmed a Piper's Pit segment with Tonga Kid on the Sunday.
"Ya alright Kirbs," Rod lifted my chin up, looking me in the eyes before lifting me out of my chair and walking me to the first aiders room.
I was checked out and let go, Rod's confusion when I entered the room quickly becoming anger at what I believe was the perceived notion that they refused to help me.
I grabbed Rod by the collar and planted a passionate kiss on his lips.
"I'm fine, Rod. Braxton Hicks. False contractions."
On the Seventeenth I had to lean on André for support backstage, right after he had pinned Roddy, making Rod justifiably both angry and jealous.
"That motherfucker."
"Roderick. He's my friend, anyway I felt faint and he's taller than me."
"Ya my wife."
"Don't get possessive, Rod."
"I'm sorry, I just, I don't like seeing you in the arms of another guy."
"Don't blame me, if anything, blame the universe."
"Why?"
"Because I'm a giant. Plus, you got me pregnant, right after we got married, which was in June. It's October, I'm due to give birth in February, And … oww."
"You alright, baby."
"Mmn, I'm fine, fucker kicked me."
"As in, the baby?"
"Yeah."
"Is that the first time it's happened?"
"Yeah."
"Did it hurt?"
"It surprised me more than anything."
I grabbed Roddy's wrist, pressing his hand against my stomach as the baby kicked again.
"Oh … my … God."
"Strong baby."
"Strong parents can make a strong baby."
"If I slap you, would the baby kick me?"
"Kirbs, don't you dare."
We started laughing to ourselves over the absurdity of the moment.
We had the Eighteenth off and Rod decided to invite Bret over.
A knock at the hotel room door signified Hart's arrival.
"Hey, Cousin."
"Hi Roddy. Hi Missus Piper."
"Oh, Bret. You know you can call me Kirby."
Both Myself and Roddy had seniority over Bret but we didn't really care much about that, to us he's family, and family comes first.
We spent the day chatting and relaxing with Bret in a café, going over things such as giving Bret advice on how to get the crowd behind him and Rod insisted on him doing promos.
I hadn't realised that Roddy had his hand on my stomach all day until Bret brought it up.
"Rod, why's your hand permanently on Kirby's stomach?"
"Because, Bret, yesterday something very important happened and I'm not missing it again."
"Kirby, what does Roddy mean by that?"
"The baby kicked for the first time yesterday. Rod's just making sure he feels it when the baby kicks or punches."
We were right back to work the following day. The days blended together in my mind up until the Twenty-Eighth, where I remember being backstage whilst Rod did a Piper's Pit segment with Valentine and Captain Lou.
The next day I remember is the Thirtieth, when Rod lost by DQ to Hogan. The only reason I remember this is because I yelled 'Fuck him' when Piper brought up Hogan being the champ after the bout, back at the hotel.
The days blended together for another short while until the Third of November, Making a fuss while Rod was working as Moolah had taken it upon herself to piss me off.
After the show had finished Moolah had taken to questioning me about both my status as a wrestler and if Rod was truly the father of my child.
Rod had to hurl me over his shoulder to stop me from jumping on Moolah and beating her to a pulp.
On the Seventh, Rod made sure I stayed backstage during his match, he did the same on the Eighth, making sure that Schultz, Valentine and Orndorff had me protected.
On the Tenth, Rod made sure I was protected by Orton for the whole show, after both Rod's bout with Hogan and the Piper's Pit segment, we went back to the hotel with Schultz, Valentine and Orton.
On the Eleventh, Rod brought me to ringside with him, but lost to Hogan. Once again, we hung out with Orton, Schultz and Valentine that night.
Between the night of the Eleventh and the morning of the Seventeenth, Rod let me stay at the hotels instead of being with him for shows.

Leon Shahbazyan 7-1, 23 years old From California Trains With Glendale Fight Club (Edmund as well as Edmen Shahbazyan)
Fun Factoids:
-Leon Shahbazyan was scheduled to be on the first episode of Season 3 of DWCS but fell ill cutting weight and was yanked from the card. He was supposed to fight Brok Weaver. -Leon Shahbazyan is the older brother to 3-0 UFC MW Edmen Shahbazyan. -Leon Shahbazyan has only fought ONE fighter with a record above .500 (4-2 Gabriel Green), he lost that fight by stoppage.
Check Him Out:
-No footage of Shahbazyan's pro career exists.
Philip Rowe 6-2, 29 years old From Florida, by way of New York Trains With Fusion XL (UFC veteran Mike Davis as well as DWCS alum Christian Loehsen)
Fun Factoids:
-Philip Rowe has not fought a single fighter who has an above .500 record outside of his pro debut where he lost to then 1-0 (now 3-4) Roberto Yong. -Philip Rowe has won six fights in a row, all before the end of the 2nd round. -Rowe is coming off his most high profile performance to date; a 2nd round TKO over 4-5 Matt McKeon on a Fight Pass televised Island Fights card.

Marcos Brigagao vs Jamal Pogues Light Heavyweight
Marcos Brigagao 11-0, 23 years old From Brazil Trains With Parana Vale Tudo (UFC champ Jessica Andrade, Priscilia Cachoeira)
Fun Factoids:
-Marcos Brigagao has 11 pro fights but only one of them has been at light heavyweight. He's been mostly campaigning at heavyweight in Brazil. -Brigagao trains alongside Jessica Andrade and would be aiming to be the first male fighter ever from Parana Vale Tudo signed to the UFC. -There's basically ZERO information out there on Brigagao. He's only been a pro since mid 2017.

vs ??? Clayton Gutierrez- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYF82hTnkRo
Jamal Pogues 6-2, 23 years old From California Trains With Joe Stevenson's Cobra Kai (Kyra Batara, Maia Stevenson)
Fun Factoids:
-Jamal Pogues has some fights against some fights you might've heard of. Pogues' pro debut was against DWCS Season 3 fighter Taylor Johnson (which he lost by TKO in the 2nd round), he lost his Bellator debut to highly touted prospect Jordan Young by arm bar in the third round and has a win over then undefeated Kyle Noblitt. -For whatever it's worth, Pogues' last fight was a championship fight in regional promotion CCW. He won the fight via first round head kick. -Pogues was supposed to compete in the same Gladiator Challenge tournament alongside Dominick Reyes but Reyes wound up backing out of it as he wound up in a profile fight in LFA and then eventually the UFC.

Desmond Torres vs Steve Garcia Jr Bantamweights
Desmond Torres 7-1, 22 years old From California, by way of Hawaii Trains With Team Oyama (Marlon Vera, Humberto Bandenay, Louis Smolka, Ian McCall, Carla Esparza)
Fun Factoids:
-Desmond Torres is taking this fight on short notice, jumping in for injured BW Alberto Montes. -Despite being very young in his career, Desmond has appeared in some high level promotions. His last two pro fights were in Bellator (a sub over 6-3 Steve Ramirez) and LFA (3rd round arm triangle sub over undefeated Jose Medina). -Torres is actually a natural flyweight who was at the weight class as early as 2018. He admittedly moved up in weight due to the rumors that the UFC was abandoning its 125 lb class (and Bellator doesn't do flyweight fights). He has fought as low as 125 lbs but as an amateur, he fought at 145 lbs.
Check Him Out:
vs 4-0 Jose Medina: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45ewWxqGMZM
Steve Garcia Jr 9-3, 27 years old From New Mexico Trains With Jackson-Wink (Jon Jones, Holly Holm, Carlos Condit)
Fun Factoids:
-Steve Garcia has arguably one of the deeper MMA resumes on the DWCS. He's fought Bellator champ Joe Warren, UFC signee and DWCS Season 3 member Aalon Cruz, long time MMA veteran Abel Cullum, Bellator veterans Ricky Turcois, Kin Moy and Eduardo Bustillos. He is a combined 3-3 in those six fights. Garcia is 7-2 on Bellator fight cards. -Garcia is represented by Lenny Fresquez, the same guy who represents Holly Holm. -Steve Garcia apparently has had a hard time getting fights recently; had to take the Abel Cullum fight on short notice and went through 8 different opponents before finally getting his last fight, a TKO win over 16-5 vet Andrew Whitney.

Micol di Segni vs Mallory Martin Women's Strawweight
Micol di Segni 7-2, 31 years old From Italy Trains With Jackson-Wink (Jon Jones, Holly Holm, Carlos Condit) and Gloria Fight Center (Carlo Pedersoli and Alessio di Chirico)
Fun Factoids:
-Micol di Segni is a professional model in Europe so be careful when you're out there google searchin, dudes. -di Segni had a pinch hit spot in Cage Warriors and Brave FC, winning her Cage Warriors fight by split decision and losing her Brave FC fight by first round stoppage. -di Segni twice competed in the IMMAF championships as an amateur. In 2014 she got the bronze medal for flyweights, coming behind the likes of current UFC Amanda Ribas and in 2015, she won the gold medal athe IMMAF championships.

Mallory Martin 4-2, 25 years old From Colorado Trains with Tiger Muay Thai (Roger Huerta, Mairbek Taisumov, Ben Nguyen)
Fun Factoids:
-Mallory Martin is an LFA and Invicta veteran; going 3-2 in both organizations during the course of her career. -Mallory's got a few fights against some names you'd know; namely two wins over Invicta veterans Tiffany Masters (who also competed on the DWCS) and Ashley Cummins (both wins) and a loss to UFC veteran and rising prospect Maycee Barber. -According to Martin, she tore her ACL in a kickboxing bout before her first pro fight and just kept fighting with a torn ACL (!!!!) and only took the time off to repair it when she was told she'd be a shoo in for the 2019 DWCS.
Check Her Out:

Ricky Steele vs Phil Caracappa Bantamweights
Ricky Steele 5-0, 31 years old From Idaho Combat Fitness (Scott Jorgensen, Brandon Hempleman)
Fun Factoids:
-Ricky Steele was a member of the TUF Undefeated season (the same one that gave us dudes like Mike Trizano, Luis Pena, Joe Giannetti, Jay Cuccinello and Suman Mokhtarian. Steele defeated Suman Mokhtarian in his debut, he got injured, got yanked from the show and has not fought since. -Steele has a history of knee issues which have limited him to just five fights despite debuting in 2013. -Steele runs his own paving business outside of his pro fight career.

Phil Caracappa 8-0, 27 years old From New Jersey Dante Rivera BJJ
Fun Factoids:
-Phil Caracappa is a former ROC bantamweight champion (he gave the belt up to fight on the DWCS). Other former bantamweight champs for ROC include Nick Pace, Julio Arce and Merab Dvalishvili. -Caracappa has a win over former UFC veteran Luis Gaudinot. -Phil's got two younger brothers; one who just turned pro in 2019 (lost his debut) and another who is a collegiate wrestler.

What recent history tells us to expect from World Series Game 7
Tumblr media
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
Will the Nationals and Astros give us a classic or a clunker?
The 2019 Major League Baseball season is down to just one game remaining on its schedule, a combination of words that evoke some of the great memories and hopes of what this provide can provide — Game 7 of the World Series.
How the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros got here is as strange a path as we have ever seen in the Fall Classic. The road team has won all six games, the first time any World Series has featured six road victories. That the Astros — who during the regular season were the first team to win 60 home games in 21 years — have lose three straight times at Minute Maid Park is surprising.
But in major league history a road triumph is fairly common. Home teams are just 18-21 (.462) in winner-take-all Game 7s in the World Series, compared to the .546 winning percentage for all home games in the history of the Fall Classic. The last three World Series Game 7s were won by the road team.
In recent World Series history, there have been some absolutely wonderful Game 7 moments that will be remembered for decades. But there have also been some duds. Let’s look at the eight Game 7s from the last 30 years of World Series play.
The walk-offs
1991 — Twins 1, Braves 0 (10 innings): One of the truly great games in baseball history, this was a pitchers duel to the extreme, with Jack Morris providing potent ammo for his Hall of Fame case with a remarkable 10 shutout innings. John Smoltz was in his first of what would be many postseasons in his career, and the 24-year-old was up to the challenge with scoreless ball into the eighth inning. A Dan Gladden double to lead off the 10th inning led to a pair of intentional walks, loading the bases with nobody out. Gene Larkin’s pop fly would have been a sacrifice fly had it been caught, but instead dropped behind a shallow outfield for a single. Either way, the Twins were champions. That series was the polar opposite of this year, with the home team winning all seven games.
youtube
2001 — Diamondbacks 3, Yankees 2: A fourth straight Yankees championship (and a fifth in six seasons) was thwarted in Phoenix, thanks to the only postseason loss by unanimous Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera. The winning run was scored on a soft line drive by Luis Gonzalez over a drawn-in infield, giving Arizona a championship in just its fourth season as a franchise. Much like the two World Series teams this year, the D-backs were fueled by a dynamic duo atop their rotation. Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling combined for a ridiculous 1.30 ERA and 103 strikeouts that postseason, and got all but one out in Game 7. They shared World Series MVP honors.
Tumblr media
1997 — Marlins 3, Indians 2 (11): Another quick expansion success story! Wayne Huizenga’s Marlins got good fast by spending money, and though more known for the tear down that followed, this championship flag flies forever. The Indians had a fantastic three-year run that featured two pennants, and held a one-run lead in the ninth inning of Game 7, only to have Jose Mesa cough up the lead. Craig Counsell drove in the tying run in the ninth then scored the winning run in the 11th on a single up the middle by 21-year-old shortstop Edgar Renteria.
youtube
The road nail-biters
2016 — Cubs 8, Indians 7 (10): This game had just about everything, including a go-ahead home run by veteran catcher David Ross, who within three years would be named to manage Chicago (with brief sojourns in the broadcast booth and a dancing competition television show in between). It was a battle of curses, with the Indians looking for their first title in 68 years, though that paled in comparison to the 108-year wait for the Cubs. Rajai Davis hit a game-tying home run in the eighth inning to get the Cleveland crowd jumping, and drove in another run in the 10th. But it wasn’t enough, as RBI hits by Ben Zobrist and Miguel Montero in the top of the frame provided the cushion Chicago needed for its long-awaited championship.
2014 — Giants 3, Royals 2: This was the postseason when Madison Bumgarner became a legend, pitching more than anybody ever has in the postseason (52⅔ innings) while posting a minuscule 1.03 ERA. In the World Series he was even more stingy, allowing one total run in 16 innings in his two starts, including a shutout in Game 5. Then on just two days rest the Giants ace pitched five more shutout innings, this time in relief to close out the win and San Francisco’s third title in five years. He even survived late drama when Alex Gordon singled with two outs and advanced to third on an error in the outfield. But he was left stranded 90 feet from home, forcing Kansas City to wait (all of one more year) to end its own championship drought.
The calm after the Game 6 storm
2002 — Angels 4, Giants 1: The Halos won their first championship by winning the final two games of the World Series at home, but the more memorable of the two was a comeback win the night before in Game 6. Dusty Baker removed Russ Ortiz from the game up 5-0 with a pair of runners on in the seventh inning, famously handing his starting pitcher the ball as he walked off. The Angels rallied for six late runs to stay alive, then scored all four of their Game 7 runs in the first two innings, making for a rather boring finale (except for the home fans celebrating the win, of course).
youtube
2011 — Cardinals 6, Rangers 2: Texas was one strike away from its first title when David Freese flew out to right field tripled over the head of Nelson Cruz to tie the game in the ninth inning of Game 6. Freese then ended it in the 11th with a walk-off home run, giving us the familial homage call from Joe Buck, “We’ll see you tomorrow night.”
Tomorrow night was another Cardinals win, though with little dramatics. St. Louis won relatively easily, with Freese again providing a spark with a two-run double. Freese will never have to pay for a meal in St. Louis again thanks to his 2011 postseason, during which he hit an absurd .397/.465/.794, setting postseason records with 14 extra-base hits and 21 RBI.
The clunker
Astros 5, Dodgers 1: Our most recent World Series Game 7 was rather anticlimactic. Houston scored all five runs in the first two innings, chasing a pitch-tipping Yu Darvish for the second time in the series. Overall this series was exciting, though its two signature contests were Game 2 and Game 5, both extra-inning affairs won by the Astros. This game two years ago at Dodger Stadium, which won the Astros their first championship, featured both teams using two starting pitchers in relief.
Might we see some similar shenanigans on Wednesday between the Nationals and Astros? It is Game 7 after all, with all winter to rest up.

Jamel Herring upsets WBO junior lightweight world champion Masayuki Ito Jose Pedraza stops Antonio Lozada Jr. in 9
U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jamel "Semper Fi" Herring completed his Hollywood story, upsetting WBO junior lightweight world champion Masayuki "The Judge" Ito via unanimous decision Saturday evening in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,912 at Osceola Heritage Park. Herring (20-2, 10 KOs), who prevailed by scores of 116-112 and 118-110 2x, accomplished the dream on Memorial Day weekend in front of a host of active and reserve U.S. Marines. “I want to dedicate this fight to my daughter, Ariyanah, who passed away from SIDs. Tonight would have been her 10th birthday, and I dedicate this title to her," said Herring.  "Ito was a tough competitor, but I always believed I could win a world title. This is a dream come true, and to do this on Memorial Day weekend makes it even sweeter.” Ito (25-2-1, 13 KOs), who was making the second defense of his world title, never could quite figure out the southpaw puzzle of Herring. Ito had some success in the early rounds, but in the end, it was Herring who closed the show stronger. Said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum: “When we signed Jamel, a lot of people had their doubts, but he showed the heart of a world champion. He’s a true Marine and an American hero. We are so proud of what this young man has accomplished." Pedraza back in win column Former two-division world champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza is on the hunt again. Pedraza (26-2, 13 KOs) knocked out Mexican veteran Antonio Lozada Jr. in the ninth round to win the vacant WBO Latino lightweight title. Lozada (40-3-1, 24 KOs) had not tasted defeat in nearly six years, while Pedraza rebounded from a game effort in a decision loss to Vasiliy Lomachenko last December. Pedraza knocked down Lozada with a counter left hand, which spelled the beginning of the end for Lozada, who made his name in March 2018 with a stunning 10th-round knockout of the previously unbeaten Puerto Rican star Felix Verdejo. “I would like to be world champion again at 135, maybe make a title defense and then move up to 140," Pedraza said. "Lozada was a tough opponent who came to fight with all of his heart. He was a great test for me, and I passed it with flying colors. I can’t wait to see what is next.” In other action: — In a battle for the vacant WBO international junior bantamweight title, Koki Eto (24-4-1, 19 KOs) and Jeyvier Cintron (10-0, 5 KOs) fought to a no-contest after it was determined that a headbutt knocked out Cintron. The Florida State Athletic Commission reversed the initial decision of a first-round knockout for Eto, leaving the title vacant. — Featherweight Adam Lopez is a contender now. The Glendale, California, native overcame a slow start to knock out Jean Carlos Rivera (15-2, 10 KOs) in the seventh round. Lopez battered Rivera against the ropes with a furious combination to end the sixth. Rivera slumped back to his corner and somehow came out for the seventh. Smelling blood in the water, Lopez (13-1, 6 KOs) pounced, forcing the referee to stop the carnage.
“I started a bit slow, but I listened to my corner and made adjustments," Lopez said. "I knew he had trouble making weight, so I kept pressing him. I saw my opportunity and took full advantage of it.”
— Middleweight sensation Edgar Berlanga (11-0, 11 KOs) did it again, scoring his 11thstraight first-round knockout to begin his career. Gyorgy Varju (7-5, 4 KOs) lasted only 43 seconds, as a right-left combination floored the Hungarian for the count.   “Felix Trinidad called me just before I walked to the ring. That’s all the motivation I needed," Berlanga said. "I hope I made him proud.” — It was brief, and it was stunning. Jose Cardenas (17-4, 14 KOs) scored a devastating one-punch knockout over 2016 U.S. Olympian Antonio Vargas (10-1, 4 KOs) at 1:53 of the opening round of a scheduled eight-round bantamweight bout. A right hand put to the point of Vargas’ chin knocked him face-first to the canvas. — Marco Diaz (2-0, 2 KOs) needed only 50 seconds to knock out Edgard Figueroa (3-2, 1 KO) in a scheduled four-round featherweight bout. — Puerto Rican super featherweight prospect Henry “Moncho” LeBron (9-0, 7 KOs) needed only 2:43 to knock out veteran Luis Ruiz Lizarraga Jr. (6-13-1, 2 KOs). Lizarraga’s corner signaled to the referee to stop the fight. — Puerto Rican featherweight prospect Orlando Gonzalez (11-0, 8 KOs) made it look easy, knocking out Roxberg Patrick Riley (13-2, 7 KOs) in the third round. Gonzalez ended matters with a right hook. Riley got to his feet but stumbled into the ropes, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
— Steve "So Cold" Nelson improved to 14-0, knocking out Victor Darocha (8-5-1, 6 KOs) in the seventh round of a scheduled eight-round light heavyweight bout. — Former super flyweight world champion Carlos Cuadras (38-3-1, 27 KOs) rolled to an eight-round unanimous decision over Daniel Lozano (15-7, 11 KOs) in a bantamweight contest. Scores were 80-72 2x and 79-73.

José María Tranquilino Francisco de Jesús Velasco Gómez Obregón, generally known as José María Velasco, (Temascalcingo, 6 July 1840 – Mexico City, 26 August 1912) was a 19th-century Mexican polymath, most famous as a painter who made Mexican geography a symbol of national identity through his paintings. He was both one of the most popular artists of the time and internationally renowned. He received many distinctions such as the gold medal of the Mexican National Expositions of Bellas Artes in 1874 and 1876; the gold medal of the Philadelphia International Exposition in 1876, on the centenary of U.S. independence; and the medal of the Paris Universal Exposition in 1889, on the centenary of the outbreak of the French Revolution. His painting El valle de México is considered Velasco’s masterpiece, of which he created seven different renditions. Of all the nineteenth-century painters, Velasco was the “first to be elevated in the post-Revolutionary period as an exemplar of nationalism.”
Velasco studied art at the Academy of San Carlos under the professor of landscape, Italian Eugenio Landesio, who began teaching at the Academy in 1855. Landesio raised landscape painting in Mexico to high art, and articulated theories of composition that he implemented in his landscapes. Velasco is his most famous pupil, who following his mentor’s departure in 1877, dominated Mexican landscape painting and gained an international reputation, whose works became part of collections in the U.S.
Velasco’s production can be classified into three periods: The academic years, from 1860 to 1889, that include La Plaza de San Jacinto en San Ángel, Las montañas de la Magadalena, La Alameda de México, El bosque de Jalapa, El Cedro de Chimalistac and El Ahuehuete de Chapultepec.
The period from 1890 to 1892, when he was in touch with French Impressionists, that includes Valle de Mexico desde el cerro de Atraeualco and Ajusco visto desde el Tepeyac.
Finally, a personal period from 1892 to 1912, Rocas del cerro de Atzacoalco, Pirámide del Sol en Teotihuacán, Popocatepetl, Ixtlaciual, Templo de San Bernardo, Cascada de Nevaxa and El Puente de Metlac.
Velasco was interested in science, and, as a student at the Academy of San Carlos studied zoology and botany at the nearby medical school; he also studied mathematics, geology, and surveying before becoming a student of painting. In 1879, he described a new species of Ambystoma found in the Santa Isabel lake, north of Mexico City, and published his observations in the Mexican scientific journal La Naturaleza (La Naturaleza 4: 216). The new species was named by Velasco Siredon Tigrina. In 1888 Alfredo Dugès (1826–1910) renamed the species and dedicated it to Velasco as Ambystoma velasci (see also Plateau Tiger Salamander).
Velasco’s long career elevated Mexican landscape painting to international standing. One of his landscapes of the Valley of Mexico is in the Vatican Museum, a gift to Pope Leo XIII. His scenes of the Mexican landscape are a visual source for environmental historians, since they show the Valley of Mexico before its degradation in the twentieth century, with air pollution and urban sprawl. His landscape art has a wide appeal, since it is more accessible than history paintings that require the viewer to understand a particular event.

U.S. Border Patrol in Soo busts 17 illegals on Tuesday – all in Grayling area
By Greg Peterson Upper Peninsula Breaking News Owner, News Director 906-273-2433
(Marquette, MI) – Border patrol agents arrested 17 illegal aliens Tuesday in the Grayling, MI area. The 17 suspects are lodged in the Chippewa County Jail even though they were arrested downstate.
The arrests on Tues., Jan. 16, 2018 were made after tips from citizens in Grayling and ‘our local law enforcement partners” in the Grayling area, said U.S. Border Patrol Midwest Spokesman Kristopher “Kris” N. Grogan in Chicago – that includes the states of Michigan, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
The U.S. Border Patrol is preparing a press release on the massive operation. Agents made five different traffic stops Tuesday in Grayling – and arrested the 17 illegals – who will now be deported to their home country. Grogan said 15 suspects are Mexicans and two suspects are Hondurans.
The suspects are illegals but are not necessarily tied to a specific job site. However, Grogan said it was not border patrol agents involved in that low-speed chase yesterday though the streets of Marquette, MI. The federal agency involved in the chase is not known – however it would have to be either the FBI, ATF or U.S. Marshals Service. It has taken all night to interview and book the suspects in Chippewa County. Grogan said it is unclear if the 17 suspects have worked at U.P job sites. All will be deported, he said.
Arrested and booked into the Chippewa County Jail this morning, Wed., Jan. 17, 2018 (Will add name of the final suspect once booking is completed):
30-year-old Osbaldo Rodriguez-Valdez 23-year-old Edwin Bonnila-Tanez 35-year-old Alejandro Morales-Olivas 43-year-old Luis Rodriguez-Santillan 31-year-old Nicolas Zuniga-Marmolejo 31-year-old Jose Zuniga-Altamirano 36-year-old Javier Zuniga-Marmolejo 26-year-old Omar Velazquez-Carrillo 31-year-old Efrain Guardado-Quezada 46-year-old Juan Prieto-De Dois 36-year-old Adrian Aguilera-Martinez 41-year-old Reynaldo Cisneros-Rivera 45-year-old Armando Salinas Santillan 53-year-old Roque Vazquez-Rodriguez 38-year-old Grabiel Cisneros-Rivera 43-year-old Luis Becerra-Lopez

WWF Prime Time Wrestling (January 4, 1988)
Gorilla Monsoon welcomes us to the new year and suggests Bobby “The Brain” Heenan has to do better in 1988 than he did in 1987.  He mentions the neck brace Bobby has on (from Hulk Hogan manhandling him in December), and Heenan warns him not to bother him about “a dog” (alluding to when he and the Islanders stole the British Bulldogs’ mascot Matilda).
Heenan makes excuses for wandering off during last week’s Prime Time and leaving Ted DiBiase to finish the show with Gorilla.  Monsoon (not for the first time) warns Heenan not to bring people on the show without his approval.  “When you’re the host,” Heenan says, “you can do whatever you want.”  That about which sums up the central conflict of Prime Time: Monsoon is the host and Heenan is just the co-host, but Bobby demands to be given greater authority over the show, even as he insists he’s already in charge.
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan vs. Sika - All the matches on Prime Time are recycled from the WWF’s shows on syndication and for regional networks; this one is from Madison Square Garden in New York City, and was presumably aired on the MSG Network.  Monsoon, Heenan, and Lord Alfred Hayes are on commentary.  Gorilla immediately calls Duggan “the policeman of the World Wrestling Federation,” because he freely attacks the heels over the slightest hint of wrongdoing.  Heenan is not convinced a crazy idiot with a two-by-four is deserving of such esteem.
This match amounts to two big guys doing simple power moves until Sika uses a thumb to the eye to get the heat, and then Duggan quickly rallies back with some punches.  Duggan yells “Come on, tough guy!  Come on, you son of a bitch!” which has to be bleeped for television.  Hacksaw’s style resembles an overgrown toddler stomping around while everyone else does their best to pretend he knows what he’s doing.  That’s not really a knock--it worked out fine for him in his day--but sometimes he does something or looks a certain way and I actually start to wonder if he’s so dumb he doesn’t know this is all fake.
Duggan actually busts out a small package and a sunset flip, which is pretty sophisticated for him.  He goes for a headbutt and sells it like he just survived a car wreck (because Polynesians have unusually hard heads, according to wrestling logic), but recovers within about 30 seconds to do the three-point stance into a running clothesline for the pin.
Returning to the studio Gorilla scolds Heenan for the Harley Race/Jim Duggan brawl at the Slammy Awards last month.  After the break, Monsoon is explaining that the Royal Rumble is on January 24, and then it’s off to Philadelphia for the next match.
Hillbilly Jim vs Dino Bravo - We’re joining this one in progress.  Craig DeGeorge and local personality Dick Graham are on commentary.  Bravo has Frenchy Martin in his corner.  In 1987 Bravo was managed (in a team with Greg Valentine) by Johnny Valiant, and Martin was an active wrestler, but evidently some changes have been made that weren’t ever explained on Prime Time.
The match is pretty basic but I dig Graham’s style, sounding like some old fuddy-duddy who is just tickled to see big burly men making fools of themselves.  Hillbilly gets his licks in, but this is mostly a showcase of Bravo and Frenchy, to give the new act a push.  Martin gets on the apron to distract Hillbilly, which allows Bravo to hit a jumping knee from behind for the pin.
Back in the studio Monsoon seems to think that last match was in MSG for some reason. He’s hot at Heenan for getting him in trouble when they taped the show in Atlantic City last week.  Heenan wants the $1000 bill Gorilla almost gave him for Christmas, but no dice.
UPDATE: Craig DeGeorge is in his little fake news desk set to present a replay of the dognapping incident.  There’s no dispute that Haku, Tama, and Heenan took the dog, but they claim they left her in the dressing room and haven’t seen her since.  Davey Boy Smith and the Dynamite Kid aren’t buying it, and I’m not buying their attempt to act sad.  WWF president Jack Tunney has a statement:
We at the World Wrestling Federation do not condone the recent activities as it relates to Matilda.  My office is currently investigating the matter.  If Matilda’s whereabouts are not known within one week’s time, the appropriate steps will be taken.
I’m always amazed with how commanding and presidential Tunney can sound while saying absolutely nothing of consequence.
Monsoon wonders what Tunney would do about the Matilda situation and Heenan tries to pass the buck to the Islanders.  Gorilla changes the subject to Ted DiBiase offering to buy the WWF world title from Hulk Hogan (and Hogan rejecting the offer).  Heenan acts like he knows what DiBiase’s next move will be, but doesn’t actually say what that might be.
Jacques Rougeau & Raymond Rougeau vs. Jose Estrada & Jose Luis Rivera - This is in MSG again, with Gorilla, Heenan, and Hayes on commentary.  Estrada and Rivera are in masks as the Conquistadors, and never identified as individuals.  Apparently the taller one is Rivera, which means Estrada starts this match and is called “One” by the announce team.  The Conquistadors make several tags right away to put over their gimmick of easily defying the rules against switching off without a legal tag.  The match goes a lot slower than I’m used to from the Rougeaus, as if they’re still figuring out this mysterious new duo.  Both heels get knocked to the floor, which absolutely confuses the issue of who the legal man should be.
We head back tot he studio for a break and Heenan has brought in a fruit plate, which Monsoon suspects is from the hotel in Atlantic City from last week.  Heenan insists it’s fine but Monsoon figures it’s poisoned.  This is one of many Gorilla/Bobby segments that makes you wonder what gave them the idea, and why it goes absolutely nowhere.
Back to the match, the Rougeaus are in control and the announcers suggest that they’ve managed to switch off without legal tags, owing to their vague resemblance to one another.  You wouldn’t expect that to be a thing the Conquistadors’ opponents would be pulling.  The Conquistadors get Jacques isolated and it’s clear that they’re in no hurry.  Raymond finally gets the hot tag and runs wild on the heels.  They get one of the Conquistadors out and do some weird double team move in the corner to the other, but the move is botched so I’m not even sure what they were going for.  Jacques gets the pin even though Raymond was legal, so basically everyone just stopped giving a shit.
In studio, Gorilla needles Heenan about how the Rougeaus are gunning for the Islanders and it’ll take a great team to capture the tag team title from Strike Force.  Then he segues into the upcoming footage from Paris, and how Bobby is no longer welcome there after some alleged incident.
WWF ladies’ title match: Sensational Sherri (champion) vs. Velvet McIntyre - As promised, we’re in Paris, and the crowd is whistling at the women.  Gorilla and Bobby are on commentary again, but I don’t see them at ringside and they sound like they might’ve recorded this in-studio for Prime Time.  Velvet starts off on fire, and this is already way more action than WWF women’s matches delivered in all of 1987.  Other than the Jumping Bomb Angels, the division has been pretty sluggish, but I suspect that’s turning around with Fabulous Moolah and her associates being phased out for younger talent.  Sherri slows it down with some basic heel stall tactics but Velvet’s not having any of it.
This may be the best worked match on this episode.  It’s nothing compared to modern standards, but it’s certainly better than you’re gonna get from Hacksaw Jim Duggan or Hillbilly Jim.  Sherri goes for Velvet’s hair once too many times and Velvet gives up a chance to execute a Boston crab to pull Sherri’s hair right back.
We check back in with the studio and Heenan and Monsoon are still reminiscing about France.  Back to the match and Velvet is firmly in control.  Sherri is really good at constantly whining and yelling about every little thing.  Velvet gets her in a leg scissors and they basically do a bunch of goofy spots around Sherri trying to get loose, until Sherri goes for a hair pull again.  Sherri’s back in control and keeps working the hair.  The crowd is still catcalling the wrestlers.  Velvet makes several brief comebacks but Sherri cuts her off over and over.  Finally McIntyre goes for a crossbody block and covers Sherri, but Sherri rolls through to get the pin and retain the title.
Back to the studio, Gorilla and the Brain speculate about the nationality of the referee from that match.  Gorilla throws it to a pre-taped Mean Gene, who plugs the “Rumble Royal” coming up in a few weeks.  Gene brings in “Outlaw” Ron Bass to interview about the special format of the “Rumble Royal.”  Bass already sees the huge disadvantage of drawing #1 or #2, but he’s confident enough to not give a damn.  Interestingly, Bass gets the name of the show right even though Gene never did.
After the break, Monsoon and Heenan discuss the Royal Rumble some more.  They clearly don’t think the audience can grasp the rules for the match, so they go over it very carefully.  Gorilla mentions Dino Bravo’s bench press exhibition that will be on the Rumble show, and isn’t terribly sure whether Bravo might still be the WWF Canadian champion.  Another break, and Monsoon explains the Rumble will feature a special face-to-face interview with Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant.
Iron Mike Sharpe vs. SD Jones - We join this in progress, and I think it’s MSG again.  Monsoon, Hayes, and Heenan are on commentary.  I mainly know Jones from losing in record time at the first Wrestlemania, and I mainly know Sharpe for being the jobber who sells every move by going “AAAAARRRRRGHHH!”  So it’s kinda funny this would be saved for so late in the show.  It’s pretty even until Sharpe gets his arms tied in the ring ropes and they really milk that spot for all it’s worth.  Sharpe is in big trouble after that, but stays alive long enough to hit a big standing lariat for the pin.  I can’t believe I lived long enough to see Iron Mike Sharpe win a wrestling match.
In the studio, Monsoon runs down Jones for taking time off and letting himself get out of shape, which is a little weird because Jones is a babyface.  He asks about the Heenan Family’s strategy for the Royal Rumble, and Bobby’s already come up with the old “we’ll all stand back and wait until the end and gang up on who’s left” bit.  I think that worked exactly one time, in 2009.
King Kong Bundy vs. Bam Bam Bigelow - This is from a Superstars of Wrestling taping, and you can tell from the blurred-out banners.  (Apparently WWE let the trademark lapse and can’t get it back.)  Vince McMahon, Jesse Ventura, and Bruno Sammartino are on commentary.  Both of these guys aren’t accustomed to fighting guys their own size, so we get a bunch of “you shoulderblock me and I’ll shoulderblock you” stuff to start.  Bigelow has Oliver Humperdink in his corner but I don’t  see Heenan in Bundy’s corner.  Oh wait, he just came running down like he was late.  Bundy is dominating while the crowd starts a “weasel” chant.  The experiment of Humperdink as a babyface manager was interesting, and Heenan does a great job of acting like it really rattles him, but it doesn’t seem to have caught on.
Bundy is just punishing Bigelow until he misses a splash, and Bigelow covers him with one of his own.  The ref counts extremely fast and Bigelow gets the biggest win of his WWF run so far.  Heenan makes fun of Sammartino’s commentary and legit cracks up Gorilla.
In the studio, Heenan is livid about the fast count and even Monsoon can’t deny it.  After the break, Heenan is relieved the show is over.  Monsoon dicks with Heenan about what day and time the show will be on next week.  I’m real glad I don’t have to keep up with this shit nowadays.  The show closes with Bobby receiving an angry phone call from Bruno and hanging up on him.
Next week, we’ll have more on the exciting FREE spectacular, the Rumble Royal!

20 standout players of the MLB playoffs
The Major League Baseball postseason always produces superstars. Some of those who emerge are expected, while some are unlikely players who go from anonymity to household name overnight. That can happen thanks to a hot streak at the right time, a dramatic home run, a surprisingly great pitching performance, or some sterling defensive play.
Here is a list of 20 players who have been the standout players so far during the 2017 MLB playoffs.
Jose Altuve, 2B, Astros
The potential AL MVP had a great regular season, and that has carried over into the postseason. Altuve, for as well-known and well-respected as he is across baseball, has never really had that signature moment or stretch of performances to really establish himself as a major star. In his only previous playoff series — the 2015 ALDS against Kansas City — he went just 3-for-22.
This year, he promptly opened his postseason with a three-homer game, and he hasn’t looked back since. He hit an astonishing .533 against Boston, and has only slightly cooled in the ALCS, hitting a mere .357. He’s a superstar now, and everyone is taking notice.
Yasiel Puig, OF Dodgers
For much of his career, Puig has been better known for bat flips, off-field antics, and on-field mental errors than for star power on the field. Sure, he has always had spectacular plays in him, but it would be fair to say he had never put it all together. Not anymore.
Puig is having an absolutely dominant postseason, hitting .429 and driving in six runs in Los Angeles’s first six games. It’s too soon to say that he’s found something permanently — Puig has had hot stretches before — but if this keeps up, he’ll evolve into a superstar he once looked destined to become.
Didi Gregorius, SS, Yankees
Gregorius was never going to properly “replace” Derek Jeter, though he was given the near-impossible task of doing so. He has done as well as anyone reasonably could have, though, and his clutch performance in Game 5 of the ALDS had a near-Jeteresque quality to it: two at-bats and two home runs against one of the game’s elite pitchers in likely AL Cy Young winner Corey Kluber. Those homers ended up being the difference in the ballgame, and confirmed what many in New York already knew: Gregorius has quietly evolved into one of the game’s better shortstops. Gregorius also added a big two-hit game in his team’s comeback win in Game 4 against Houston.
Justin Turner, 3B, Dodgers
On a team with so many superstars and high-priced players, it’s Turner who is the heartbeat of the Dodger offense. After torching Arizona to the tune of a .462 batting average — including a Game 1 performance in which he homered and drove in five runs — Turner followed it up just as solidly in the NLCS. He has gone 3-for-11 with three walks, including a walk-off three-run home run in Game 2 that made him a cult hero in Los Angeles. Turner is a star — he played like it during the regular season and has proven it during the postseason.
Tommy Kahnle, RP, Yankees
The entire Yankee bullpen could qualify here, but Kahnle in particular is a name that has excelled. He very rapidly blossomed into an elite reliever while pitching for the White Sox in what is currently baseball purgatory. A trade to the Yankees was just what he needed, and he’s been every bit as good for them. In eight postseason innings, he has yet to give up a run. He’s only given up one hit and two walks, good for a microscopic 0.375 WHIP. The Yankee starters had their struggles at times, and they’ve needed to lean heavily on the bullpen. Kahnle has been up to the task.
Dallas Keuchel, SP, Astros
Keuchel is, of course, a former Cy Young winner, so it’s not as if he wasn’t on anyone’s radar. He had, however, fallen off it a bit after an underwhelming 2016 and struggled with injuries through parts of 2017. He’s firmly back on that radar.
While Justin Verlander has gotten much of the publicity, Keuchel has actually outpitched him in this postseason, giving up only one run in 12.2 innings, good for a 0.71 ERA. Opposing batters are hitting just .156 against him. Keuchel has always been an ace — we just needed a reminder.
Jose Quintana, SP, Cubs
Quintana has been really good for a long time — the problem was that it always came with the Chicago White Sox, who never made the playoffs during his tenure. A midseason trade to the Cubs came with some hiccups, but his numbers improved across the board, and his playoff debut has been as steady and assured as the rest of his career has been.
Though he’s yet to win a game, Quintana has only given up two runs in 11.1 innings of action. He’s kept the Cubs in every single game he’s been in — even giving them a brief relief stint in Game 5 of the NLDS against Washington.
Yuli Gurriel, 1B, Astros
The 33-year-old Cuban rookie proved himself to be a fine hitter and was one of Boston’s chief tormentors in the ALDS victory. Gurriel had nine hits in 17 at-bats, including a double and triple, putting constant pressure on the Red Sox. Though he didn’t drive in as many as he liked — he had no RBIs and proved more of a table-setter — he was a massive headache for Boston. His hot hitting continued in the ALCS. He drove in one of the team’s runs in a 2-1 Game 1 win, and he knocked in three in Game 4.
Kenley Jansen, RP, Dodgers
Kenley Jansen has used the big stage of the postseason to cement his status as the best closer in baseball this year. Jansen has pitched seven scoreless innings this postseason, recording a win and a save for the Dodgers. He’s allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out 12. He’s gone more than one inning for the save on two occasions this postseason, including Game 1 of the NLCS against the Cubs where he struck out all four batters he faced. Having Jansen to close out games gives Dave Roberts a Mariano Rivera-like option in the postseason.
Justin Verlander, SP, Astros
Verlander has given the Astros everything they could have asked for since being acquired in a trade, and then some. Not only did Verlander go 5-0 with a 1.06 ERA to finish out the regular season with Houston, but he has continued his hot pitching into the postseason.
Verlander has gone 3-0 in his three starts with a 2.04 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. His Game 2 start of the ALCS against the Yankees was particularly impressive — he struck out 13 in a complete game victory as Houston won 2-1. The Astros’ technology is said to have helped him.
Yu Darvish, SP, Dodgers
Yu Darvish’s time with the Dodgers involved some ups-and-downs during the regular season. His LA debut came with a 7-inning shutout, but then he had consecutive outings in early September where he allowed five runs. So far, it’s been the dominant Darvish who has shown up in the postseason.
Darvish looked nearly unhittable in a Game 3 NLDS win over the Diamondbacks. He went five-plus allowing just one run on two hits. He could have gone much longer, but Roberts used a quick hook in the game. In Game 3 of the NLCS against the Cubs, Roberts let Darvish work a little longer. He went 6.1 innings of one-run ball, picking up the win. Having him to supplement Clayton Kershaw has made a world of difference in the postseason for the Dodgers.
CC Sabathia, SP, Yankees
Sabathia established himself as the Yankees’ stopper during the regular season, as he was dominant following losses. He’s continued the same trend in the postseason. Sabathia came up huge in Game 5 of the ALDS against the Indians, pitching 4.1 innings of two-run ball, striking out 9. He gave the Yankees enough to turn the ball over to the bullpen, which kept Cleveland scoreless the rest of the game. Then with his team trailing 2-0 in the ALCS, Sabathia came out and shut the Astros out for six innings of Game 3 to get the win. He has become a trusted arm for the Yankees this postseason.
Stephen Strasburg, SP, Nationals
Ever since his dominant debut as a rookie, Strasburg has always felt like something of a disappointment — a good, but not great starter who has dealt with injuries and sat out an entire postseason — against his wishes, mind you. In this year’s postseason, though, he looked like the superstar pitcher that many had always dreamed he’d be.
Though the Nationals didn’t win the series, it was no fault of Strasburg. He didn’t give up an earned run in 14 innings, walking three and striking out 22. His second start came in the middle of huge questions about his health. Strasburg gave us the ace-level performance we’ve always wanted.
Jay Bruce, OF, Indians
A little-heralded waiver trade at the time of his acquisition, Bruce was a key reason the ALDS got to five games. He hit .278 with two key homers in the five-game series loss, including the game-tying blow in Game 2 that helped complete Cleveland’s remarkable comeback from 8-3 down in the eventual victory. Bruce is due to be a free agent after the season, and his postseason performances probably bought him a few extra suitors once he hits the open market.
Kenta Maeda, RP, Dodgers
Many starters see their stuff play well out of the bullpen, and that is exactly what has happened to Maeda in the 2017 postseason. An average enough starter during the regular season, manager Dave Roberts has reinvented Maeda as a righty specialist who dominated when thrown into the fray during the NLDS against Arizona. Maeda struck out four in two innings, serving as a vital bridge between the Dodgers’ starters and closer Kenley Jansen. He also threw a scoreless frame and picked up the win in Game 1 of the NLCS.
Maeda will probably wind up back in the starting rotation next year, but it’s easy to see how this relief stint could really give him a shot of confidence.
Masahiro Tanaka, SP, Yankees
Tanaka had taken a back seat to Luis Severino this year after struggling for much of the regular season, but he’s rediscovered his ace form just in time for the Yankees. He was outstanding in the ALDS against the Indians, throwing seven scoreless innings in a 1-0 Game 3 win that helped gives the Yankees confidence to begin their comeback. And, while he was not quite as great in his first ALCS start against Houston, Tanaka only gave up two runs in six innings and kept Houston right in the game. Opponents have hit just .159 against him in his two playoff starts so far.
Michael Taylor, OF, Nationals
Taylor is perhaps the most unlikely star to emerge from the playoffs so far. A career .243 hitter — though he had a fine season for Washington in 2017 — Taylor hit .333 in the NLDS, including a pair of massive home runs. One was a grand slam off Wade Davis to put Game 4 out of reach. For a while, it looked like his three-run homer early in Game 5 might have been the final nail in the Cubs’ coffin. It didn’t turn out that way, but Taylor can still hold his head high after a fantastic series.
Brandon Morrow, RP, Dodgers
Once an extremely highly-touted pitching prospect — the two players drafted after him in 2006 were Andrew Miller and Clayton Kershaw — injuries put Morrow in the baseball wilderness until he re-emerged as a reliever in 2016. The Dodgers picked up him for 2017 and he’s become an absolutely vital setup man for Kenley Jansen. He’s pitched 7.1 postseason innings thus far and given up just two hits and one run. Morrow is a huge reason the Dodgers are so much better-equipped to win in 2017; their bullpen depth is so much better.
Rafael Devers, 3B, Red Sox
For much of the season, Boston’s third base situation was pretty much awful. Devers stepped in and, while the Red Sox were eliminated much sooner than they would have liked in the ALDS, they can take heart from the performances of a young man who was just 20 when he made his postseason debut. Devers hit .364, went deep twice, and knocked in five runs against the Astros, making himself one of Boston’s standout offensive performers. This kid has a very bright future, and now everyone knows it.
David Price, RP, Red Sox
Many will scoff at the Red Sox having a $30 million reliever, but the truth is David Price came up big for Boston in the playoffs. Price entered Game 2 of the ALDS against Houston with the bases loaded and one out in a 4-1 game and was able to escape without allowing further damage. The score remained 4-1 by the time he left 2.2 innings later. In Game 3, he entered a 4-3 game and kept Houston off the board for four scoreless innings. It wasn’t until later that Boston’s offense broke out and exploded for a 10-3 win.
Price’s second season in Boston was derailed by injuries, but his performances in the playoffs gave him and Sox fans confidence that he may still be a valuable contributor over the life of his contract.
