Anime Spotlight - Kengan Ashura

This series was a lot of fun and I love the brutal action and fights. It does suffer a bit from the animation not doing the original art of the manga justice but 3d animation is starting to come along further and it still delivers the feel of the fights.

The plot is since the Edo period of Japan, gladiator arenas have existed in various forms around the world. In these arenas, wealthy business owners and merchants hire gladiators to fight in unarmed combat where the winner takes all. Tokita "Ashura" Ohma joins these arenas and devastates his opponents. His spectacular ability to crush his enemies catches the attention of big business owners, including the Nogi Group CEO, Nogi Hideki.

Its a martial arts tournament anime with weird and quirky mostly insane and murderous characters. The fights are brutal and full of energy with a fair few really enjoyable characters. If brainless fun is what your after its def worth checking this out and seeing the various over the top fighting styles and techniques. I loved watching as the cliched “time to stop holding back my true abilities” troup can into play as sometimes the out comes of the fights were a genuin surprise.

Fun and full of action a good sense of humor and strangely some attractive guys and gay characters which is always a bonus.
