Ever since @naavispider responded to a prompt about street kid Spider meeting Quaritch, I was very interested in the idea so I def wanna draw that but for now, let me present you with some thing I came up with.

Street kid Spider modern AU

Imagine Miles Spider Socorro in the modern AU, escaping from the foster system bc he was treated very poorly and decided to gamble with the homeless life instead. He lives like that for maybe three-four years when Miles tracks him down. Because the boy is so good at parkour, he’s been given the street nickname of Spider, which the blonde is proud of and uses as his real name.

Spider lives in the attic of an abandoned mall that is so overgrown with unkept plants and trees that it’s more of a jungle. He takes care of many cats who made themselves at home there and as a result of being around them 24/7 develops some of their mannerisms, like head movements when curious, crouching and hissing when agitated. He doesn’t get much proper human contact until meeting the Sullies.

The Sully kids have moved in not long ago and crave adventure. The overgrown mall looks like a magical forest to them and in it they find Spider, a creature of the woods with his long, curly, matted hair, ripped and stitched together over a thousand times clothes, trinkets worn on his neck like necklaces, and the many cats surrounding him. Spider smells like soil and cat food and is initially scared of the four children (four bc you’d never catch Neteyam exploring abandoned buildings, he’s a good boy), ready to fight them like he fought every other street-dweller ever since ending up outside of care. Out here, the kids mostly end up either as addicts or in gangs, so Spider had no friends his age…until that fateful day.

From that point on, Spider becomes their secret friend and the siblings visit him every day. They love his bravery and sass, underneath which lies a compassionate heart of gold. They not only buy him necessities, but even help him shoplift on some days, not only for himself but for the street animals as well, plus old homeless people who huddle around makeshift fires on cold nights. They become sort of robins in their own right, and Jake, together with Neytiri, although suspect something, don’t know about the secret bestie their kids made.

Neteyam suspect much more and slowly puts the puzzle together. He is not thrilled.

All is well, life is looking up…until Kiri tells Spider one day, as they hang out in the roof, that she heard in the news of a certain “Miles Quaritch” getting out of prison, advising that the boy stays safe.

She stills when she sees the sheer look of horror on his face.

“Spider..?..”

“I…”

“…You know him?”

“Promise me you won’t freak out.”

“I-I won’t, I won’t.”

“…

I’m, like…his son.”

From that point on the drama quickly ramps up because Spider’s social cervices agent Norm has also tracked the kid down to this city, operating on rumours and rare camera footage of the boy. It doesn’t make the situation easier that Norm is also friends with Jake and keeps venting to him about how miserable and hurt Spider must be while the Sully kids are right there knowing where he hides.

And that’s pretty much the gist of this AU. For Spider, it’s a tense situation where he has to be sneakier than ever bc cps are close on his track and his father is even closer and he wants his son back. On both fronts, Socorro is threatened with a total loss of freedom and autonomy. The kids have to be sneaky too when they visit him…but no one can be sneaky enough to pass under Quaritch’s nose.

Morticia Cubed

Sweet Morticia (1964) - Carolyn Jones’ morticia was the most sweet tempered and good natured version. She was gentle and peppered in “dear” and “darling” in every sentence to everyone she cared about, not just Gomez. The way she cared for her plants and kitty cat, feeding them, soothing them with words, referring to herself and gomez as mother and father. She also had anxiety!! let’s not forget!! she was constantly overthinking, espousing some statement and then immediately recanting it. Famously, while standing up and then sitting down in her chair. She said herself that she “lives in constant fear that someone is going to come along and take” gomez away from her. Morticia seems to have some insecurities which probably stem from Ophelia being the favorite and nearly marrying Gomez herself. Let’s not forget, they got very close to being married. They were already at the alter and it looked like there was no way out. Morticia doesn’t show it as outwardly as Gomez but is as madly in love with him. Seeing him almost married to someone she already felt inferior to probably traumatized her. Even though everything worked out in Tish’s favor, she probably still carries that fear. After all, she regards Gomez as handsome, romantic, dynamic, sweet, selfless, and caring. Why wouldn’t someone else come along and realize that? Also, in the episode where Morticia and Gomez have a fight, it only happened because she thought Gomez’ play-acting had truth to it. “I knew it. You do think I’m wasteful!” And she probably only thought that because it’s what she thinks of herself. The Addams’ do have a very abundant catalog of frivolous items and she might be afraid that Gomez does or will eventually resent her for it. Again, this could stem from her upbringing as the less favorable child; mother frump giving ophelia everything she wants and resenting morticia for needing anything. The poor baby 🥺 That’s also why it’s all the more lovely that Gomez is so generous with his affection and words of affirmation bc Trish probably really needs that reassurance that she is the center of his universe. As a mirrorball child, it probably means the world to her. Now, this (and their relationship in general) could be perceived as Gomez being more in love or their love not being equal but they just express themselves differently. (consider candace and jeremy from phineas and ferb. equally obsessed, just expressed in different ways) Gomez’ love language is physical touch and words of affirmation while Morticia’s is acts of service. (they both love quality time. they’re together 24/7!) Gomez makes it known to the entire world that he loves Morticia for her mind, body, and soul. and Morticia, as someone with anxiety, probably doesn’t outwardly express her love. I, myself, am an anxious introvert and I don’t vocalize a lot of things/am generally quiet and not talkative. Not being vocal doesn’t mean the love isn’t there. She loves Gomez in other ways. Like memorizing the entire catalogue of Addams, what they did, when and where they lived, and what they like???? hello, wife goals. She’s always looking out for Gomez too. When she thinks he’s lost everything, she puts everyone in the family to work including herself! When Gomez gets amnesia, she does everything in her power to jog his memory without hurting him and even had to delegate clubbing him on the head to someone else because she couldn’t bear to hurt him 🥺

Also! Morticia is a cryer! the way her lower lip quivers when something really gets to her (and the way Gomez swoops in with a worried “querida?🥺” and a comforting touch… SWOON). Very much a cancer rising.

In the same vein, Morticia is an empath. She always considers other people’s feelings, is thinking of ways to thank people who have visited the Addams house (“we ought to send them a gift, dear!”), and considering how and why someone is particularly sad, ill, upset, out of sorts, etc. and coming up with ways to fix it! Even when Gomez is overwhelmed with his love (lust) for her, she put that aside to focus on the problem at hand. At her core, she is a mother and a caretaker. She’s a gentle, caring, sensitive soul and I love her.

Sexy Morticia (1990s) - Morticia has always been a knock out but they had more room to go full sexy smokeshow with Anjelica Houston’s iteration in the 90s. 60s Morticia was always quelling Gomez’ lust with a stroke to his chin and a promise of “later” but 90s Morticia dialed up the horny to 11. She was allowed to reciprocate Gomez’ lust and vocalize her own. Her first lines were alluding to the wild, crazy, demonic, hedonistic sex she and gomez had the night before and how she wants her black blown out like that again! She has more of a commitment to the dark arts, as was the trend at the time with grunge. Her makeup, wardrobe, and general appearance leaned more into the femme fatale and thus, she became every 90s kid’s sexual awakening. Long Live Anjelica Houston.

Stern Morticia (2019) - I have such a soft spot for the animated movies. They do have their issues as a lot of the jokes were purely made to pander to a modern audience (squad goals, billie eilish, etc). but they’re not without their merit. Casting Oscar Isaac as Gomez Addams was a stroke of brilliance. Now that being said, this is my least favorite version of Morticia. She’s much more stern, with Gomez, with the kids, with grandmama. She very much wanted things a certain way and was upset when the status quo was changing (i.e. wednesday wanting to go outside or go to school) it just came off as controlling. The writers took Gomez and Morticia (a passionate, indulgent husband and a caring, seductive wife) and watered them down into head in the clouds x no nonsense. It was upsetting to see.

YESSS okay thank you for indulging me. my ideal diego ending is him getting defending by wright & co (fitting for two reasons: phoenix being affirmed as mia's true successor & diego accepting that) - they dont get him off of everything, obviously. misty's murder is a Complicated Situation and considering diego himself has no idea what his intentions were at the time, the best they could probably do is getting him a reduced sentence via imperfect self-defense. frankly i think he'd be upset about not getting a full sentence particularly given the stunt he pulled at the end of bridge to the turnabout (aka outlining detail by detail of his motivation and the setup for the crime so that phoenix could convict him + also SUBMITTING THE KNIFE HE GOT CUT WITH AT THE TIME OF THE MURDER AS EVIDENCE EARLIER IN THE TRIAL INSTEAD OF LIKE. HIDING IT OR GETTING RID OF IT OR ANYTHING???? insane behavior) . very much the kind of person who would attempt to absolve his massive guilt complex by way of life in prison/death row. either way despite his protestations theres only so much you can do trying to go against the unconquerable willpower of the fey women bc whether he likes it or not maya is definitely out there on the witness stand batting for him. so he probably spends like 5-6 years in jail (yes if we're taking this au more seriously then the art is technically contrary i was just going for the vibes + what my heart desired etc etc)

anyways so imperative to this is that he loses the mask, permanently. obviously its representative of his "new identity" as godot (typical covering of the eyes/"windows to the soul" -> obscuring of the true self symbolism etc you get the gist of it) but also arguably his inability to let go of what happened to him with dahlia (re: losing his sight) and move on, particularly considering its what becomes his downfall in the end (the lights at the scene of the murder/bloody writing on the lamp). so in short getting rid of it is also him moving on from the godot persona and i think it would be incredibly good for him. so obviously after he gets out of prison maya & pearl immediately adopt him into becoming glorified older-brother-in-law.

they try really hard to get him into steel samurai (results are debatable. theyve explained the difference btween nickel samurai and steel samurai 20 different times and it hasnt seemed to stick yet (they are unsure whether this is him messing with them or not)) and pearl reads him warrior cats books & shoujo of questionable quality and they hang out with mia on the weekends (pearl & maya take turns channeling). i also like to think that they make him do stupid impressions all the time and force him to sit through far too many steel samurai episodes (maya spent like a good 7 months hunting down one of the like handful of remaining limited edition steel samurai dvds with audio description tracks and paid objectively way too much money for this) and go with him to his hospital visits. whenever he tells pearl & maya no over something stupid they inevitably drag out mia (results vary wildly. its like when one of your parents says no so you go ask the other one except if the other parent was dead and also theyre your older sister & her boyfriend)

living in kurain i think also would just be good for diego anyways because as established by all of the incidents in aa3 he has issues facing his problems head on and likes to either avoid them aggressively or combat them in the most self-destructive cirumventing manner humanly possible or like project them onto everybody else around him but in kurain he wouldnt have anybody to project onto and he cant avoid them if theyre literally staring him in the face 24/7 and also maya & pearl wont let him flounder around in self pity or lock himself in a depression room for like 4 months straight so hed have to figure it out one way or another. the irrelevancy of the men there would also be good for him i think since i think hes really truly done with being in the spotlight for a long while/forever.

also maya should get as many older siblings as she wants esp since all of her older bio family members are either a) wildly unhelpful b) straight up dead or c) some combination of the above. and to be honest i think maya needs somebody who is like 100000% in her corner no matter what happens - kurain is like objectively a flaming dumpster fire and given all of the. Issues. with the branch families vs main family, even if she's trying to be better than her predecessors theres still going to be so much bitterness and anger and so on and so forth and like. pearl is nice but shes also like eight. theres only so much maya can lean on her (and, given maya's . everything. shes not going to do that much at all). and phoenix is great obviously but also he is not . Living With This. so even if diego is an outsider & a guy and therefore going to have like. negative sway in any of the actual stuff going on, he can still be an adult emotional support for her.

also also i think him sticking around in kurain would be super good for pearl too bc of her own experiences with the men in the family ditching all the time bc they feel left out (/mad about the whole hierarchy situation) so to have diego sticking around even though his Special Someone is notably dead and they werent even married/parents so he has no obligation to stick around other than that he wants to . it would be good for her. i think

1. Are you named after anyone?

Ohhh yes. My first name is literally the female version of my dad and brother’s name… Patricio/Patrick. My middle name is after my Abuela (dad’s side) bc she died a couple of months before I was born.

2. When was the last time you cried?

HA! I’m actually proud of this one *clears throat* ever since the 911 Lone Star finale...for now.

3. Do you have kids?

I’m 22 almost 23, so my only child has four legs and lives in my apt rent free. I’m also undecided about having them in general (bio or adopted)? I have a autoimmune disease that makes it harder for me to have them and I also had surgery when I was 14… lets say I have 1/3 of my left ovary chopped off bc of a random health issue I had as a kid and now I have a faint smiley face on my bikini line :) talk about oversharing.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

*Takes sunglasses off* Babes, I invented sarcasm. It’s the fourth language I’m fluent in… its a culture thing.

5. What sports have you played/do you play?

Fútbol and futsal. Loved them. Stopped when I got into college but I still participated in intramural games in my sorority/club. I also played basketball in middle school for a bit, but ultimately gave it up bc there wasn't really a girl’s team in my school.

Mind you, I hate Maths with a great passion, but I was in group B (When you reached the 6th grade, they will separate the two form groups of your year group, in my school there was two class groups per year, and they will separate students in A and B group depending on how well you were doing in that specific subject). B group was always the funniest class to be in. I was usually an A group type of student but I always made sure I was in B group for at least a few of my classes and in Maths? It was inevitable. 

Anyways, I sat in the middle of the most chaotic pair of people, this dude (a twin) who had a crush on me at the time and this volleyball player who I once had a fall out with. For context, back home I went to a small British school, pre-k––12th grade, and from the 6th grade until I left on 10th grade, I always sat with them bc I will always LAUGH MY ASS OFF every damn class period. Our teacher was this 24 year old guy from Scotland and he was fine with us being together because we got good grades and did the work. I like looking back at this because, we weren't friends, we didn't hang out or talked after class much, but we always sat together because it brought us joy. 

Oddly enough I will always miss the poorly drawn dicks at the last page of my maths notebook, the stupid jokes, and the dumb noises they will make on purpose 😂

ABOUT

scratch the cat is an original character based around the events of sonic forces

i'll be playing scratch in her early/mid 20s, and probably won't be using any icons for her. she is a tortoiseshell cat with brown, orange, and black fur, and yellow eyes

while scratch is not the avatar that you play as in forces, she is from the same city, and was privy to the death and destruction wrought on the city by infinite and eggman

scratch's parents, older brother, and younger sister were killed in the attacks, leaving her nothing and nobody to go back to, so she throws herself into the resistance, taking on risky missions and front-line defense positions

in the beginning of the war, scratch was definitely not focused on making it out alive, instead just trying her best to make any kind of impact against infinite and eggman. as she survives and hardens over the months, so does her anger, and by the time sonic comes back she's become more focused on killing infinite and eggman than protecting the resistance or any of the people who call her their friend

when infinite disappears, it robs scratch of any semblance of closure. she can't accept that he's really gone because she hasn't seen that he's actually dead. it's a similar feeling when the resistance beats eggman, letting him get away, as if he doesn't have to pay for all the hurt, all the pain, all the death he caused

while most citizens were grateful to give back their wispons and join the restoration effort, relieved the war was finally over, scratch only became more restless. she stole her wispon, the ivory lightning wispon, and set off on her own crusade to find and kill both infinite and eggman

scratch has a close relationship with the ivory wisp that resides in her wispon, naming it blitz -- although blitz doesn't seem to condone her revenge plot, it's loyal to her and doesn't want to see her get hurt. blitz has never abandoned her, although sometimes it will choose not to attack or provide it's hyper-go-on energy if it doesn't agree with what she's doing

after the war, scratch broke into old eggman complexes and workshops, hunting for information about infinite and the phantom ruby. she's working on gathering enough intel to figure out not only what happened to infinite but also how to find him and finally take her revenge on him

in terms of plotting against eggman -- i'll probably play around with idw timelines here in regard to the whole mr. tinker and metal virus arcs

anyway.. lots to vibe with in terms of helping scratch along her revenge plot or trying to convince her of another way. she's also extremely reckless and willing to help with missions or tasks others might deem as suicidal, so if there's something stupidly dangerous your character needs to do, you can probably count scratch in to help

day 46 of letting @taylorswift know i have the same name as her cat until she notices

the shelter i volunteer at just had 40+ cats surrendered today. all from the same home. more than half of them are orange and half of them are girls. a few of those girls are pregnant (ages estimated to be around 7-24 months). they’re just babies themselves, having more babies. they all have traumatically amputated tails for what? fashion? if our laws here in western KY were as strict as chicago or even los angeles , this would never be a problem. these cats and other animals aren’t getting as much attention they deserve. they’re all so very sweet.

it took me about 3 and a half hours to get them all vaxxed, weighed, set up in kennels/cages, fed/watered. i live in a small town.. but if you took a look at how many animals there are in this shelter you’d think i was from NYC. this has to stop. please spay and neuter your pets when they’re old enough!!

people wonder why kill shelters are a thing. this year, our shelter is no-kill. for a shelter to be no-kill, their euthanization rate has to be under 10% for the entire year. we’ve been very lucky and blessed to have an amazing community who are willing to adopt, not shop. if we keep getting animals at a rate like this (up to 50 a day), it’s a very sad chance we would be classified as a kill shelter. and since people don’t know about how a shelter becomes kill/no-kill, they take one look and scoff that we put down these amazing animals.

a gentleman was at the front door a few weeks ago when i came in. he had a box of kittens and asked if i wanted them. i told him i would take them if i could but unfortunately my indoor cat has only child syndrome. he said he didn’t want to take them to the shelter bc we were classified as a kill shelter and that we would “kill his kittens”. i said no sir, we are not. then i explained how a shelter becomes one. he left and i didn’t see him again. a few days later there’s a post on facebook about a box of kittens left at a nearby park.. and they were those same kittens. they were covered in fleas, skin actively bleeding from scratching, nose/eye/sinus problems, they were dehydrated, and one of them almost didn’t make it.

along with spay and neuter laws, we need people to be educated. if you have a box of kittens or you found a dog on the side of the road, BRING THEM TO A SHELTER. it’s so much better than leaving them out to die in a park on a hot July day. if you can’t take care of your pet for any reason, BRING THEM TO THE SHELTER. don’t abandon them somewhere they don’t have access to food, water, and shelter. if you were living your last moments, would you rather be uncomfortable in a suffocating box.. or in the arms of someone who is comforting you, loving you unconditionally.

a former potential surrender recorded her dog with a ring camera while she was gone. she was scared her pup would be restless and tearing up the house of anxiousness while she was gone. but no. he was asleep. if you feel like you can’t give enough attention to your pet, record them while you’re gone and see what they do. she kept her dog bc he was such a couch potato and wasn’t worried about her not being at the house.

it breaks my heart every day to see animals come in. then, a few days later, they’re moping around their kennel. we have a husky/pyrenees mix and his name is Hagrid. he’s so calm, gentle, and quiet. you would never guess he’s part husky. when you try and take him out, he won’t budge until you pick him up. when he is outside, he does his business and is immediately ready to go back in. what kind of active dog mix wants to go inside on a nice day? he’s hopeless, he’s depressed, he’s given up. i believe there are a few potential adopters coming to look at him soon which is good, he’s a gorgeous dog. the brightest blue eyes and the softest coat. but what about these other dogs, you know?

i’m sorry for the rant. it just makes me upset when people jump to conclusions and think anywhere is better than a shelter. i promise you, the shelter is the next best place to surrender an animal. i applaud all the volunteers, workers, and vet techs who put their blood, sweat, and tears, into keeping these animals fed and safe.

So uhhhh, he/they pronouns, am I right? I think it’s time to reintroduce myself. Hello to the zero people that follow me, my name is Maxwell (Max) (yes, I stole my cat’s name, don’t worry about it,) I’m 20 years old from somewhere on the planet and I’m a trans man? I'm still workshopping the last part there but what do we think? 

Now here’s my problem: I’ve moved back in with my parents, an hour away from all my friends or anyone that would possibly genuinely support me, and my bedroom walls are pastel pink. I miss college, solely for the fact that I could mostly act and dress how I wanted, and I didn’t have to tell anyone anything I didn’t want to. I saw my parents maybe once a month, and I could put on a charade for that long. I enjoyed my job, I was actually friends with my coworkers, and some of them even used the right pronouns for me (I didn’t push it on purpose bc I’m not ready to defend my identity to bigoted customers yet.) I’m not gonna say I'm miserable at my first adult job, but it is definitely a stark reminder that the majority of the world is not as accepting as working at a coffee shop, and there's a very likely chance I won’t be respected in my identity at my workplace. I have absolutely nothing in common with any of my coworkers anymore, and now I see my friends as much as I used to see my parents.

I’m afraid I’ll never be able to live the life I want to live, I’ll never be able to be myself around my coworkers or leave the clutches of my parents (I don’t want to come out to them at all, I hate telling them anything but I’m the only child so I can’t just run away and never see them again, although that would be great.)

Pride month is rolling around again, and the irony is definitely not lost on me. Combined with all of the transphobic violence ramping up again, the last thing I feel right now is proud. I’ve never been to pride, but even though this is the first year I could probably get away with going, I’m not going to bother because I’m too scared. I wish I wasn't like this. I wish people saw me as a man in any capacity, I wish I could be around new people who only know me as how I want to be known, not as who I was forced to be. I wish I would be taken seriously if I did try any attempt to be myself. I feel like I’m playing a character 24/7 and it’s exhausting. I don’t have anywhere I can be myself anymore now that I‘m back with my parents. I need to move out, but my parents don’t see why I would want to spend the money on my own place, with furniture and everything, when I’m probably gonna travel for work (just to get away from them.) The only excuse I would have is to shorten my commute to my current job, but the city I work in is even more republican and bigoted than the one my parents’ house is in.

I can feel myself slipping back into depression, I didn’t realize how much better I felt when I was at school. It’s only amplified now that I know what some semblance of freedom feels like, now that it’s stripped away. I didn’t realize how much of a support system I had built up, of friends and a therapist nearby, until it’s gone.

This was supposed to be a happy post about me finally beginning to accept my identity in my own head, but the weight of the world stops for no one I guess. I’m gonna go research apartments now.
