tired of people complaining or making fun of how the game in act 1 refers to gortash as "young and handsome" or people saying that it should be changed to better descriptors

because i think thats the point lol its on purpose that you make up an image in your mind of what a "young and handsome" man looks like and when you do finally see him he subverts your expectations of what preconcieved image you had in your head

and his entire character is like that? he is a man of appearances

examples being how ostentatious his outfit is and yet on closer inspection he doesnt even tie his own shirt right and his coat is old and worn down

its how in game he wants the people of baldurs gate to look up to him as a savior when in reality he is their terror

how the posters spread across the city dont even really look like him and look more like the "young and handsome" man that he wants the masses to view him as because those vain traits are desirable in a new leader who promises change and safety and that face looks more trustworthy than his own

it doesnt matter that in reality he is a middle aged human man, hes scarred and has wrinkles, and it doesnt matter thats hes not a conventially attractive super model

gortash doesnt even care to convince you because youve already seen him, you know who he is beyond his outwardly appearance, he already knows that you know hes behind the absolute plot and his intentions are of domination, so he shows his real self to you and that he is in need of a new ally and you have proven yourself worthy of that, all he needs to do is convince you to align yourself with him

but to the mass of civilians and absolutists? all he needs to be is a "young and handsome" man, a "savior" in their minds and that is enough to control the nobodies
