Why are all Bethy games always so big and empty
why is St*rf*eld using Helvetica on all their tall buildings which guide your eye in to tell you how tall and big everything is
why is there no trash no problems in this world
are they just sucking at trailers or is the game just boring?
I kinda have to know but I think I know already

Beauty of switzerland "switzerland would be a mighty big place if i were ironed flai!
Switzerland is a united nation in central Europe. Bern serves as Switzerland's administrative capital, and Lausanne is its judicial hub. Switzerland's small size (its total area is around half that of Scotland) and low population indicate little about its importance on the global stage.
The hub of the varied physical and cultural geography of western Europe, Switzerland is a landlocked nation of towering mountains, deep Alpine lakes, grassy valleys dotted with tidy farms and small villages, and thriving cities that blend the old and the new. It is renowned for both its natural beauty and its way of life. The country's name conjures up pictures of the glacier-carved Alps, which are adored by authors, artists, photographers, and outdoor sports lovers from all over the world. Aspects of both have come to symbolise the nation.
Another outdated perception of Switzerland is that of a wealthy, if somewhat conservative and uninteresting, society. Switzerland is still a prosperous and orderly country, but the sounds of a local rock band are much more likely to be heard in the mountain-walled valleys than yodel or alphorn. The majority of Swiss people reside in towns and cities rather than the ideal rural settings that Johanna Spyri's Heidi (1880–81), the nation's most well-known literary work, captured for the world to adore. Switzerland's cities have developed into global hubs of trade and industry that are connected to the rest of the globe, a marked contrast to the country's formerly secluded and inward-looking past. Switzerland—and Geneva in particular—has been chosen as the headquarters for a vast array of organisations due to its extraordinarily long-lasting stability and carefully kept neutrality organisations, both governmental and private, many of which are linked to the United Nations (UN), which the Swiss delayed joining until the early twenty-first century.
Switzerland's untamed landscape and diverse culture tend to highlight difference. People that live close to one another may speak dialects of their original language that are noticeably different from one another, if not a whole new language. English is widely spoken, and German, French, Italian, and Romansch all have national status. Historically Protestant and historically Roman Catholic neighbourhoods are divided by invisible borders, while northern and southern Europe, with their varied sensibilities and customs, are divided by the high mountains of the St. Gotthard Pass. Nevertheless, Switzerland has found strength in all of these divergences, building a stable society where personal freedoms are carefully weighed against communal and governmental goals.
Although the Confoederatio Helvetica (or Swiss Confederation), from which the abbreviation CH for Switzerland derives, was formed in 1291 by a coalition of cantons in opposition to the Habsburg dynasty, the current country was not established until 1848, following the adoption of a new constitution. Prior to 1848, internal strife was fairly frequent, but since the middle of the 19th century, Switzerland has experienced relative peace at home, and its organisational structure has remained largely unchanged: it is a union of more than 3,000 communes, or municipalities, spread across 26 cantons, six of which are traditionally referred to as demicantons (half cantons), but operate as full cantons. Every level of politics is open to participation from common residents, who frequently express their opinions through initiatives and referendums several national and subnational level policy decisions. This widespread involvement has two clear effects: Because voters can evaluate and approve a wide range of expenditures in Switzerland, taxes there are relatively modest by European standards. Political decision-making also tends to be slow because competing individual claims and opinions must be allowed to be represented at every stage.
Friedrich Dürrenmatt, a well-known Swiss playwright and ironist, allegorizes Switzerland as a prison where every Swiss citizen serves as both a prisoner and a guard due to the high level of citizen involvement. Nevertheless, the Swiss system of direct democracy and federalism is regarded as essential to the nation's political and economic prosperity and is unique in the world. Thanks to its long history of financial services, high-quality, specialised manufacturing of goods like precision timepieces, optics, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, as well as speciality foods like Emmentaler cheese and milk chocolate, Switzerland is in fact a major economic force. Switzerland consistently ranks among the nations with the greatest living standards.

Kyaw, of punk group Rebel Riot Band, in Myanmar (Burma). I drew his portrait last week for my #NickDrawsNationals pandemic art project. For some reason I only got as far as drawing his face with biro, and pencilling in the background, during our portrait session. The rest I did afterwards from video stills. It was very detailed and time-consuming, but I enjoyed drawing the lettering of the posters on his wall. I even learned how to write “punk” in Burmese (ပန့်ခ်). I like how our white-on-black typographic T-shirts complement and contrast with each other – ‘Chaos Day’ Thai punk band vs ‘Helvetica’ documentary film! Unfortunately cropped out on the right of my A5 drawing, for Instagram’s square format: Kyaw’s acoustic and electric guitars, studded and badge-covered black leather punk jacket, multi-buckled belt, arm tattoos (“F**K [THE SYSTEM]”), and St Pauli (German left-wing political football club) skull and crossbones flag. I note that Kyaw’s portrait is flanked by skulls – the recent death of his brother was a tragic element of his story. #nickdrawsneighbours #drawing #portrait #portraitdrawing #portraiture #birodrawing #ballpointpen #ballpointpenart #ballpoint #neighbours #sketching #artinlockdown #artinisolation #isolationart #NickDrawsNationals (at Portslade, West Sussex, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnbfI02osCx/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

hello, taytay anon here! What’s your theory??? (btw i pre ordered two records I have no use for now lmao but I just had to get the normal one and then she dropped the special editions and the jade one???? I need it!)
HIII, oh my god, I was dying to talk about this with someone, so thank you!
(also, I'm so happy you got the Jade version!!! is literally my favourite one too!!!)
ok, so based on everything we heard and saw, I think the new album will have a retro vibe — maybe 70s? — aesthetic and sound.
why is that? well... (under the cut because it's long, haha!)
first, based on my knowledge (not that impressive) of home decor and history, the house where she is in the new photos is a 70s house
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can see the curtains, the green carpet, the yellow patterns behind the chest Taylor is lying in the left image.
in the second image, we have a retro phone and the wood walls + the rectangular armchair she's sitting on, all pointing to the 70s.
btw that keyboard? is a Wurlitzer that sounds like this. Very similar to the album Daddy's Home by St. Vincent (produced by Jack btw), which is 70s inspired.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
her bold and bright blue eyeshadow is another indicator of that. plus, she's holding a Zippo (vintage lighter) and all her clothes — and not just from these images but also tiktok and VMAs — point to that retro vibe.
about graphics now.
the album's name is in the Helvetica font. That's a pretty standard font, every system has it. literally.
this is the album title X Helvetica font in my Word
Tumblr media
the interesting part is this:
"The U.S. Government uses Helvetica for all its official forms. It's the default font for Brussels' entire transport system, and became the font for the NYC subway system's signs and maps in 1970."
in the 70s!!!!!!!!!
mind you she's also using the old Republic logo for the cassettes and probably LPs and CDs:
Tumblr media
from the swift society on twitter.
and not to mention, the colour pattern:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and lastly, the The Sun article (that was right about the numbers of tracks and some other details) said that her songwriting for this album was inspired by Stevie Nicks and Joan Armatrading. HMMM, HELLO?
Tumblr media
this album will be so good and so worth it.

12 GREAT ARCHITECTURE & URBANISM DOCUMENTARIES THAT YOU CAN WATCH FOR FREE
1. EAMES: THE ARCHITECT AND THE PAINTER (2011) A comprehensive documentary on Charles and Ray Eames, modernism’s most influential design couple.
2. CHOLET: THE WORK OF FREDDY MAMANI (2018) A fascinating look at the disconcerting ‘psychedelic baroque’ creations of this maverick Bolivian bricklayer-turned-architect, with a score by Moby.
3. MY ARCHITECT (2003) Documentary in which we join the son of Louis Kahn on his quest to understand his acclaimed but enigmatic father.
4. URBANIZED (2011) A great documentary about urban design, and cities in general. Urbanized was the third part of Gary Hustwit’s trilogy on design, which included HELVETICA (2007) and OBJECTIFIED (2009).
5. CITIZEN JANE: BATTLE FOR THE CITY (2016) This documents the landmark conflict between writer/activist Jane Jacobs and developer Robert Moses, over plans to replace much of Manhattan with highways and austere housing projects. It also looks in detail at Jacobs’ ideas, and legacy.
6. PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES (2014) Documentary on the Eichler Homes company, the first American developer to work with modernist architects to deliver neighbourhoods of bespoke contemporary homes to a middle income buyer. Unlike the majority of their counterparts, who refused to sell to black or hispanic customers, Eichler were also known for their non-discrimination policies.
7. THE ARCHITECTURE OF VIOLENCE (2014) Part of Al Jazeera’s Rebel Architecture series, this examines the use of architecture as a weapon of intimidation and subjugation within the Palestine Israel conflict.
8. OSCAR NEIMEYER: LIFE IS A BREATH OF AIR (2005) Documentary on the life and work of the legendary architect, who died in 2012 at the age of 104.
9. THE PRUIT IGOE MYTH (2011) A worthwhile film about the infamous St Louis Housing project, which deteriorated rapidly from utopian design to militant slum, largely as a result of systemic racism,  suburban migration, and other social and political factors overlooked by its creators.
10. BUILDING AFRICA: ARCHITECTURE OF A CONTINENT / BBC (2006) In this BBC documentary, architect David Adjaye travels across Africa, exploring centuries of vernacular, colonial and post-independence architecture.
11. FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT: THE MAN WHO BUILT AMERICA (2017) In this full length biographical documentary, Welsh architect Jonathan Adams travels across America, guiding us through buildings which mark key stages in Wright’s career.
12. LOS ANGELES PLAYS ITSELF (2003) Consisting of a voiceover commentary and hundreds of movie clips, this documentary offers a comprehensive look at the onscreen portrayal of LA. Detailed attention is given to works of local architecture which have enjoyed (or suffered) recurring cinematic roles, particularly the many modernist structures which have been given a distinctly sinister characterisation. (Photo: Eames House via facebook).

Bridges’ Family Christmas
Summary: The Fitzgeralds elected to travel instead of having a holiday party this year, so Limbo tags along with Teuta.
Rating: K - Intended for general audience 5 years and older. Content should be free of any coarse language, violence, and adult themes.
Words: 1200
Notes: Merry Christmas! Have some fluff, as a treat.
Tumblr media
"Teuta, I couldn't impose on you and your family." Limbo said for what must have been the fifteenth time. “I can stand to stay alone for two days. You all did it just last year, in fact.”
"Limbo, stop it." Teuta hissed, looking at her friend in frustration. "I already told my parents you were coming home with me for the holidays, please do not make a big deal out of this."
"I can just stay here. The guys might need me." He argues.
"They'll be fine, Limbo," Teuta said, pinning him with a look. "You need a holiday, it’s Christmas, and if you aren’t going to travel with your parents and Valerie, then you're coming with me."
"But…"
"I'm not arguing with you on this issue any longer, Limbo, so do ourselves a favour and drop it." Teuta huffed. "Go pack your things. We take the five o’clock flight to LA."
"Fine. You’re the boss." Limbo said.
He exited the room, only to reappear and hug Teuta tightly.
"Thank you." He whispered, kissing her cheek before dashing from the room.
She certainly did not know what she thought when she invited Limbo home with her. Bringing a WASP into her, admittedly, unorthodox family situation seemed, to a first exam, a hare-brained idea. When he had said that there would not be a party at the Fitzgeralds’ for the first time in history, as his parents were getting on years and so elected for an escapade into St. Bart’s, Limbo had announced that he was going to stay in the city alone.
Usually, he would have company for the holiday, as their friend group was the classic sort of ragtag, outcasts with little in the way of kin and blood. The last year, however, has been revolutionary: Scarecrow discovered his father was alive after all and Shu rekindled his relationship with his foster brother. Helvetica decided that, despite his shortcomings, Professor Orsted was his father after all and stuck next to him. Teuta, herself, after the painful revelation about Adam’s role in her brother’s murder, thought it wise to go and enjoy the company of her parents while she could.
Limbo, who once was the only one to have a strong family bond, now was one of many. Since Mozu worked overtime on holidays, he would be spending Christmas all by himself for the first time in his life. Teuta, being the caring person that she was, felt for him and invited him home with her. The crooked lawyer was her friend, and she did not want him to be alone for the holiday, regardless of his successive assurances that he would be just fine either way.
She could only hope that she did not make a large mistake in inviting him home with her.
*_*_*_*_*
Looking back, perhaps this was a stupid thing to be concerned about. Limbo could charm a dead body, and her mother was conscientious enough to not let the party run too rambunctious, lest they scare away their guest of honour.
"So, he's cute." The older woman said, sitting with her daughter on the sofa. She clinked her glass of wine against Teuta's. "He's that hotshot lawyer from the magazines, right? I didn’t know you were so close."
Teuta sipped her wine.
"Yes, obviously. What gave it away? The fact I brought him over or how I spend every call home gushing about them?" She giggled.
“You’re so self-aware! I am blessed as a parent!” The woman kissed the daughter’s head sloppily. "When you said you were bringing a guest home, though, I didn't think you meant a boy."
"Mother!" Teuta hissed. "I'm nearly twenty-five years old. I didn't think it would matter either way."
She shook her head before muttering under her breath, "He's a man, not a boy."
"He's cute." The older one repeated, smilingly knowingly.
"Mother!" Teuta hissed once more.
She shrugged her shoulders. "I'm just stating the obvious."
"We're not together, we're just friends." Teuta explained. "I just had this conversation with Dad. He's a friend from work and a former roommate. I just didn't want him to be alone."
"Well, your Aunt Mary thinks he's charming and refined." The older woman giggled, pointing to the corner of the room where Teuta's aunt was indeed chatting with Limbo.
The poor man was smiling politely, but they both knew that he was not interested in the conversation at hand.
Teuta stood. "I'm actually going to save him from Aunt Mary."
She made her way towards Limbo, missing the knowing look her mother sent her.
"Limbo, there you are." Teuta said, approaching the pair.
“Hello, Teuta. Lovely family you have.” He commented with ease.
"That I do. Hello, Aunt Mary. How are you?" She kissed her aunt's cheek. "Limbo, I need you to help me in the kitchen."
"Sure thing," Limbo answered with a nod. "Nice talking to you."
He smiled at the older woman before following Teuta into the kitchen.
"What did you need?" He asked, fully prepared to be of use.
"Help to finish this bottle of wine." She announced cheekily, grinning at Limbo.
The black-haired man laughed heartily.
"Unexpected, but alright. Pour me some." He graciously accepted a glass.
"I hope my family isn't too unbearable." Teuta said as she refilled her glass.
"No, everyone has been quite nice, but I think they all conclude I'm your boyfriend." Limbo looked at her, a light pink on his cheeks.
"I know," Teuta said softly, blushing as well. "You're the first person I've ever brought home for Christmas. Well, other than Adam, when he first arrived in America."
"Really?" Limbo asked in surprise.
"Of course." Teuta answered. "All my other boyfriends were never serious enough even to consider bringing them home. Not that I dated all that much, either."
"I'm flattered to be your first, then." Limbo said, smirking at her. He stepped closer to Teuta. "Though, I can't help but wonder what it would be like."
"What?" Teuta asked, her throat suddenly dry.
She looked up at Limbo with wide eyes as he leant in closer.
"Being your boyfriend." He whispered to her ear.
Teuta's tongue darted out and wet her lips. "I…"
Limbo looked up, smirking when he saw a piece of mistletoe hanging above them in mid-air.
"Someone could see!" The journalist hissed.
"I'll take my chances." The advocate answered with a smirk.
Gently cupping her cheek, he leant in and pressed a tender kiss on her lips. Pulling away, Teuta's heart raced.
"I want to know what it'd be like, too." She whispered, looking at him nervously.
"What?" Limbo asked.
“Y’know what I mean.” She countered coyly.
"Say it." He grinned mischievously.
"If you were my boyfriend," Teuta answered softly.
"Let's find out." He took her hand and led her back to the living room.
The two of them somehow found themselves under the mistletoe three more times that night, during which they both realised they quite liked what it felt like as a couple.
Teuta's mother watched them from the corner of her eye the rest of that evening, happy that her daughter had finally met a man that she could love, even if she had not realised it yet.

hi hello :) 52, 54, 61?
hello lovely!!!
52. favorite font?
i quite like helvetica for how clean and neat it is
54. what did you learn from your first job?
my first job was at mcdonald's...first thing i learned was to never work at mcdonald's and also how to deal with creepy men!!
61. favorite line you heard from a book/movie/tv show/etc.?
one that i will always remember is fleabag at the end of season 2 "i love you" "It'll pass" simply fucking brutal!!!!! i will never recover from that!!!
also also i'm reading the raven cycle again and have been seeing this one everywhere lately and it's simply the best: Adam lived in an apartment located above the office of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a fortuitous combination that focused most of the objects of Ronan's worship into one downtown block.
truly unhinged if you ask me
