Forgotten Hollow – April of 1846

Lily had gone to the Straud estate, hoping to see that Miss DiMera had been wrong about what she told Lily. Sadly, Lily got to see with her own two eyes what had become of her cousins. They had become monsters. Monsters that could float in the air at lighting speed. Monsters that are capable of killing.

Lily returns to the Vatore estate the following morning, giving herself the night at the local inn to think. When she arrives back at the estate, she finds Miss DiMera dressed in finery that she wasn’t wearing the day before. Lily doesn’t trust the woman but she had told her the truth about her cousins.

“They we attacking each other while floating in the air. Lilith’s face was different. Her skin was different.” Lily recounts to the woman in front of her. Oddly, Caleb looked the same though Lily could plainly see he was no longer human. 

Helena for her part, pretends to listen to the woman’s woe. She knew Straud would train them. He had trained her after all, until she got tired of listening to the old bat and his list of rules. “Just as I said.” Helena reminds the Vatore’s cousin. 

Lily sighs with a nod of her head. “They aren’t my cousins anymore. The Lilith and Caleb I knew are gone.”

Helena has to stop an eye roll and simply nods her head. She’s tiring of this interaction.

Before Lily’s eyes the woman before her transforms into a vampire. She jumps back in shock,

“As much as I would love to feast on you.” Helena began “I’m not going to. It won’t be any fun.”

Lily takes another step back in fear.

“I am however going to let you in on a little secret. You see, just because you’re beloved cousins are vampires doesn’t mean they have to stay vampires.” Helena states, it was like dangling a carrot in front of a hungry rabbit. 

“What do you mean?” Lily asks quietly, trying not to stutter her words. Even though the female vampire had said she wasn’t going to feast on her, she doesn’t exactly believe those words. 

“We can be killed. With a wooden stake right through where our non beating hearts reside. If Lilith and Caleb want to do the right thing and protect innocent lives. That’s what they’ll have to do. Have someone stake them.” Helena tells Lily with a sick grin. She doesn’t care if Lilith has someone do that but there is no way she’s letting Caleb make that choice. He belongs to her, whether he likes it or not. 

Lily stands there, taking in that information. She doesn’t trust Helena DiMera but she feels she’s actually being told the truth. Her head swims and her visions starts to blur as hot tears roll down her cheeks.

“You may go.” Helena informs her before disappearing in a cloud of black smoke. 

Lily is running before she even realizes what she’s doing. She doesn’t even know where she’s running to, just that she has to get away from Forgotten Hollow.

Also, people might’ve liked Peter(he might never have been a fave, but people could at the very least STAND him) if multiple things hadn’t happened:

A) If the show hadn’t been so damn intent on making Maxie and Anna unrecognizable in how they were written to prop Peter up.

B) If this storyline hadn’t went on for as long as it had.

C) If we weren’t meant to believe that Maxie is SO in love with Peter that she’s willing to throw away relationships she’s had for years/decades with friends and family.

D) If they didn’t try and make excuses for him. If he was a full on villain, no excuses, no apologies.  People love villainous characters. Look at Helena, Jerry, Anthony Zacchara(he was at least entertaining), or even Ryan(I’m sure there are others too. Heck, as a kid, I watched Days of Our Lives and I LOVED the Dimeras). Peter’s just whiny and annoying and he made Maxie annoying as well.

Also, Wes and Laura getting all upset that people don’t like Peter and find the entire character dumb as hell doesn’t exactly help in Parking Lot Peter’s(as twitter GH fans have dubbed him) likability.

And do you KNOW how bad it is when fans of totally different characters(from Carly/Jason/Sonny fans to Liz fans to Anna fans to Maxie fans, to fans of the Quartermaines, etc) are all in agreement over how fucking horribly written the Peter character is?  Fans who never agree on anything agreeing on this one particular thing?

Aww I haven’t been watching Days lately and haven’t really kept up on anything soap-wise in the US so I had no idea that Joseph Mascolo had passed away in early December. A part of me always thought he’d live forever and would endlessly return to wreak havoc on Salem no matter how ridiculous the storyline. I honestly can’t think of a more iconic soap character than Stefano DiMera...

The Golden Globe Noms came out.  There are some tough categories!! Who could pick in the category of actor/ drama with Bateman, Odenkirk, Pacino, Josh O’Connor and Matthew Rhys?  Another tough one is show/ drama with The Crown. Ozark, Lovecraft Country and Ratched. Directing categories are also tough with Regina King for One Night in Miami, David Fincher for Mank and Aaron Sorkin for The Trial of the Chicago 7.  There are great performances with the females but Anya Taylor-Joy and Queen’s Gambit just has to win. Will comedy be ruled by Dan Levy and co. for Schitt’s Creek? The Foreign press gave love to Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis in Ma Rainey’s black bottom, Olivia Coleman, Jodie Comer, Sarah Paulson, Bryan Cranston, Hugh Grant and James Corden. Sacha Baron Cohen got a couple of noms. I was glad to see noms for Lin- Manuel Miranda, Andy Samberg, Dev Patel, Bill Murray, Andra Day, Glenn Close, Helena Bonham Carter and Cynthia Nixon and Jared Leto.  I was routing for Donald Sutherland in the Undoing and Jodie Foster in The Mauritanian. ** So The Globes came and went with not too much excitement. Jodie did win so hooray for her!! Catherine O’Hara, Sacha  and Mark Ruffalo won. Everyone was thrilled for The Queen’s Gambit and Anya Taylor-Joy!! There were some very long speeches and a few did dress up. There were also hoodies and jammies in the virtual world. Mank had many noms but no wins. Rosamund Pike was a surprise win but she was scary good. The hosts Amy and Tine were going for sexy!!

days' anon: bonnie lockart is mimi's mom (from the shawn/belle/last blast days) and judi evans - the actress - played the character, i guess because adrienne wasn't on the show at the time and hadn't been for over 10 years? I think this is the first time that bonnie and adrienne have been in salem and onscreen at the same time. Ron Carlivati likes weirdness so I assume he wanted to utilize all the doppelganger options available to him lol

Oh my god, I remember her now. She helped Mimi switch the DNA results for Claire, so Shawn wouldn't find out he was her dad. Gah, this is all so confusing right now. I am sure I will get my footing soon.And of course RC likes weirdness. He brought a lot of it to GH. Made sure to make Helena was alive again to eff up stuff. I guess it can't get weirder then Rex and Cassie who we thought were aliens but were really just DiMeras. April 5

Forgotten Hollow - April 5th of 1846

Lily Zhu arrives at the Vatore Mansion early on a beautiful Spring day. She doesn’t feel the beauty of it, she’s worried about her family. She hasn’t heard from her cousins, Lilith and Caleb in over a month, which is very unlike them. The cousins – despite living in different towns- are always exchanging letters with each other. Especially herself and Lilith. Born a month apart, the two had always been close. Lilith’s Mother, Stella is Lily’s Mothers’ sister. Her Aunt and Uncle have been away on business all the way in Del Sol Valley.

Lily arrives at the Mansion, letting herself inside. She had never needed an invite before though she usually is greeted by one of her cousins or their long time butler, Alfred. Silence fills the room as she walks into the Living Room. Everything looks the same as the last time she was here but something feels terribly wrong.

“May I help you, Madame?” A voice calls from behind her. Lily jumps slightly. She turns to see a young woman she has never seen before. 

“I’m looking for my cousins. Lilith and Caleb.” She states, eyeing the woman. She seats herself on the sofa and is oddly joined by the woman.

The woman, introducing herself as Helena DiMera, launches into telling Lily that her cousins have been whisked away into the night by a man that has been accused of being a vampire.

Lily is stunned and heartbroken, though a part of her is doubtful of all of this. She doesn’t believe in the supernatural.

“I saw him take them myself. I was hidden otherwise I may have been their first victim when he turned them.” Helena tells Lily. Of course, she’s lying through her pearly white fangs that she’s careful to conceal.

“Where are they?” Lily asks the woman. 

“At his mansion. It is the largest and grandest one in town. You simply can’t miss it.” Helena supplies, trying to keep the envy and disdain out of her voice. Vladislaus is her creator, she should be allowed to live in that mansion! “He’s dangerous. I wouldn’t go there to see them if I were you.”

There's a reason Lilith Vatore sleeps less than her brother. When she sleeps, the dreams come. The dreams of memories she rarely indulges in while conscious. At least that's how it used to be. Lately, the memories have been trying to creep in on her even while awake. She blames being around The Count again. They had gone years avoiding each other.

He had helped her and Caleb when he didn't have to. Some of it had been due to Helena DiMera's (or as she was later known - Miss Hell) involvement in turning Caleb and Vladislaus Straud feeling responsible. Lilith always felt there was something more to it.

"You play?" The Count asks the young female vampire. He had been upstairs in his old chambers when he heard the downstairs pipe organ being played. 

"A bit." Lilith confesses before stopping and looking up at him. "I had learned piano years ago. Mother wanted me to learn the pipe organ as well. I was taking lessons before...well before everything happened."

The older vampire nods, gazing down at his newest "offspring". She had been doing well for the most part. Her brother, not so much.

The lad was currently pacing around in the basement. He's been doing better with his hunger - he hadn't killed anyone. But outside of feeding off whoever was placed before him, Caleb only has interest in hibernating in his coffin. It's been worrying Lilith greatly.

Vladislaus pulls Lilith up from the bench, holding her hand longer than necessary. "We have new neighbors. The Jang family. We should be gracious neighbors and welcome them to Forgotten Hollow."

"Humans?" Lilith asks, shyly looking away from her maker. She isn't sure why but him holding her hand does things to her she hasn't felt before. She pushes the feelings away and focus on the conversation.

"Yes. Mr. Jang will be over shortly. I want you to compel him for your feeding. Along with using your powers to remove his apparel." The Count whispers to Lilith, waiting for her reaction.

"You want me to what?" She asks wide eyed, finally looking at him. Vladislaus could feel the corners of his lips twitching. He wants to smirk but doesn't allow himself to do so. Instead he nods his head as there is a knock at the front door.

Somehow, Lilith manages to not to pounce on their human guest. Even though Caleb has been in a poor frame of mind and a bad emotional state - he has done better at controlling himself. Lilith is also trying not to be mortified at the idea of forcing someone to strip nude.

Count Straud on the other hand, plays the part of gracious host. Mr. Jang is happy to be invited in by one of his new neighbors.

It's not long before Lilith has started to work her magic. She compels Mr. Jang first to remove his clothing, careful not to look anywhere but the man's eyes. Then she compels him for a small drink. Thankfully, Count Straud is nearby in case anything goes wrong.

Lilith misses it as she drinks from her prey but something very close to a smile forms on Vladislaus Straud's lips as he watches Lilith use her powers.

The next evening, Lilith is pacing in the Mansion's study. She had laid down to try to sleep. She had managed to sleep briefly but woke up, worrying about her brother.

To her shock, it's The Count who finds her. She had wanted it to be her brother. She misses talking to him. Plus, she feels she isn't dressed suitably to be talking to a male she isn't related to or married to. Granted, to her surprise - he isn't dressed anymore suitable than she.

"Fretting over Caleb?" He asks her.

She glares at him briefly before nodding. "He's just so...quiet. It's not like him. At least not when he's around me."

"I'm going to let you in on a secret, Lilith. When you become a vampire - you tend to brood a lot." He tells her, completely serious. He swears it's a personality trait that comes along with whatever magic or curse that makes one a vampire. 

Lilith pauses, staring at the floor in thought. "I suppose he and I both have been doing a lot of that."

"I've done my fair share of it over the years." Vladislaus admits. "Emotions are heightened when you're one of us...if you don't suppress them that is."

His female conversation partner nods her head, listening.

"Caleb, I suspect, is dealing with many things. Grief over his lost life as a human. Probably grief and anger when it comes to Helena. He may feel betrayed by her as well. There's also the fact that despite you choosing to be turned, he knows you did it because of him."

Lilith looks briefly at the vampire who turned her before staring at the floor again. She hadn't even thought of all that. She had just been worried that Caleb might do something foolish and self destructive - like run out into the sunlight or find someone to stake him.

"I think it's time I train you both in the art of combat. It'll give him something to focus on and it'll teach you two to protect not only yourselves, but each other." He finishes his small speech. Usually he doesn't have that much to say. 

Lilith for her part feels better. Somewhat hopeful. She knows Caleb will latch onto the idea of being able to protect her and she wants to be able to protect him as well.

"Thank you, Mr. Straud. For all that you've done." Lilith tells him softly after she decided it was time to try to go back to bed. "I'm not sure what I would have done if you hadn't helped me." She adds on honestly. 

Vladislaus' posture stiftens a bit, not used to gratitude towards him. "I am half responsible for what happened. I turned Helena years ago and I should have ended her once I figured out that she has a darker heart than even I."

Lilith's face briefly shows that she disagrees with the idea of him viewing himself in such a way. She doesn't think he's pure as the driven snow but he can't possibly by the worst creature in the world. "I think there's more good in you than you think." She says quietly, lowering her head a little and looking up at him. She barely stops herself from batting her eyelashes at him a few times. She isn't quiet sure what has suddenly come over her. 

"We'll have to agree to disagree on that." Vladislaus replies quietly, staring at Lilith. If he didn't know any better, he could have sworn the young vampire just flirted with him.

February 16

Lilith Vatore is on her nightly walk around Forgotten Hollow. There’s one place she usually avoids most nights but tonight she stops in front of the looming structure.

She stares at Straud Mansion, briefly wondering why The Count felt he needed a four story home to himself. Something seems different about the place. The lights. The decorative lights along the eaves. They’re a simple white but it’s not The Count’s style. It makes Lilith wonder if perhaps Vladislaus has female company. This thought for some reason takes her back in time in her memories.

“Caleb, where are you going? I wish to finish our stroll.” Lilith calls her brother, who is running down the path.

“Mother said our company is arriving tonight. It is polite to greet them when they reach the grounds.” He calls back to his sister before disappearing around a corner.

Lilith huffs in a unlady like manner and proceeds to finish her walk by herself. Caleb has always been more of a social person than she. Lilith doesn’t care to change this fact either.

Upon arriving home, Lilith finds her brother talking to a young female. There’s something Lilith instantly doesn’t like about the woman but she keeps her thoughts to herself. Instead, she plays the part she’s supposed to play. She welcomes Miss Helena DiMera to their home. It doesn’t escape her that Miss DiMera is single. Mr. and Mrs. Vatore have been seeking spouses for their children for some time.

Lilith is snapped out of her thoughts when she hears a neighborhood bat whizz by her ear. She swears the creatures are getting braver each night.

Back home she works on training Jackson. Not all of it is physical, she’s been explaining the rules he’s expected to follow if he wishes to remain existing.

She readies herself for bed, she feels tonight might be a night she finally needs sleep. Sometimes, Lilith just enjoys putting on something soft and laying in her bed. It reminds her of being human. She looks at the painting hanging above her bed. Caleb bought it for her in Milan years ago. That’s the only reason she keeps it, she tells herself. It reminds her of someone.

That thought takes her back into her past. To that fateful night.

Miss Dimera’s visit had been going well until that night. She had shown herself to be a well mannered lady. She had accompanied Caleb to a play in Willow Creek. She had even gone with Lilith and Mrs. Vatore to visit the boutiques in Newcrest. Everything was normal.

Until Lilith walked in and saw Helena DiMera sucking the blood out of her brother’s neck.

Lilith stopped in her tracks, frozen still. She opened her mouth to yell but nothing came out. She watched Caleb in the arms of Helena, he seemed in a trance almost. Lilith could hear and feel her own heartbeat pounding in her ears.

“Let him go!” Lilith finally screamed.

Helena froze and released Caleb, holding onto him somehow with one arm. “Hello, Lilith.” She greeted in a eerie tone. “I was not expecting anyone to return yet.”

Lilith didn’t respond, she just looked her brother who was standing only with Helena’s support. His eyes were closed, he looked clammy. His breathing was ragged. Lilith was starting to put everything together in her head. “You are a vampire.”

Helena looked at her surprised but smiled, Caleb’s blood around her lips. “Yes. I am quite surprised you realize this. I may have underestimated this family.”

“You are…turning him?” Lilith questions slowly. It had been a while since she had read her books on the supernatural. Books she had to purchase in private from the local book store clerk, Mr. Potter. Books that her parents would burn if they found them.

“I fancy your brother.” Helena admits, moving Caleb to place him into a chair. She bites her wrist, looking Lilith dead in the eye while she does it. She wouldn’t mind having a little taste of Lilith as well. Maybe later.

Lilith gasps softly but remains silent. She doubts she can stop Helena but even if she’s able to, Caleb would be gone forever. She selfishly doesn’t want that to happen. Her brother is the only one in the entire world that accepts Lilith for who she is. He doesn’t judge her for reading books she shouldn’t. He doesn’t tell her she can’t wear pants or ride horses. He doesn’t tell her she’s crazy for wanting to fall in love before getting married.

All that brought her to the Straud Mansion. Count Vladislaus Straud IV has lived in Forgotten Hollow longer than The Vatore family. She remembers passing by his massive home the first day they arrived in the town when she was only five. Most people avoid him in town, even though a statue of his ancestor is smack in the middle of their town park. Lilith had always found it odd how the statue looks exactly like him. Then she began studying him from afar. Seeing he only comes out at night. How pale his skin is. How he never seemed to change.

She showed up on his doorstep, tears streaking her cheeks but she held herself together. To her shock, he actually let her in.

“I am sure you have heard we have had a visitor.” Lilith starts softly. She didn’t want to just come out and say what she wants. What she needs.

“I am well aware of your visitor and who she is.” Vladislaus tells her, to her surprise. “I think I know why you are here.”

Lilith stares at him for a long moment, deep down it all clicked. “She turned my brother.”

In a odd move, odd to Lilith anyway, the Count places his hands on his hips and shakes his head slightly. “I have made few mistakes in my existence and Miss Hellena DiMera is one of them.”

Lilith blinks, not sure what to say.

“You want to become a vampire to be with your brother.” Vladislaus supplies for the young woman beside him.

The Count debates within himself. He has sworn off turning anyone since Helena DiMera. Somehow, she had turned out more evil than even him. He hadn’t seen it coming. He looks at Lilith Vatore, who he can tell has good intentions. He knows she’s been watching him, that’s how she’s figured out what he is. “Very well.”

Valdislaus first explains certain things to Lilith before he offers his hand to her to stand up. She quickly takes it and he pulls her to him. Neither of them were prepared for the slight spark that shot through their bodies when they came close to each other.

The bite hurt until it didn’t. Lilith will never tell anyone that she started to enjoy it. Vladislaus let her go, intending to guide her to the couch.

Her knees buckled and he held her steady. Sweat was starting to drip down her brow as she felt the bite on her neck burn. “I will train you.” Vladislaus tells the young soon to be vampire in her arms.

Hopefully, he could get Caleb out of Miss DiMera’s clutches as well and train him. He would rather have them under his tutelage than anyone else’s. He didn’t need two newborns running around, causing havoc.

I would happily kick out Tyler from Days if it meant that EJ came back. I mean first I’d have EJ and Stefan interact because Tyler leaves and gets freed up to be Nik again. But honestly I don’t see him returning unless Steve left, only because both him and Steve have similar contracts/schedule where they Film in LA for a few days then go home and we know how long it took for Steve to be sorted out and it rumoured to led to a few axings on the show.

I did not know that! Very interesting…when I first got into days it was after Jason “died”. I always been up front that Jason was always my fav growing up and I really didn’t give a fuck about anyone else except Michael so I just stopped watching for awhile. I binged old days on YT and fell for EJ and the Dimeras. Thats why it saddens me with watching Chad and Andre get watered down more and the Dimeras just disappearing tbh. I love Stefan so far but yeah I would want Nik back Cuz Valentin is such a failure! I feel Cassadines/Dimeras have same prob on GH/DOOL. Almost all are gone and it’s just not the same cuz Helena/Stefano are gone and they have not succeeded making them who they are so far. That is why I am hoping Stefan succeeds in whatever way haha.

We sadly can’t get Stefano back because the actor died and a recast would just be wrong. I’d love EJ to return but they need Sami back full time or at least have them both recurring because they established that they are the love of each other’s lives (I like to think Lucas and Sami are soulmates in the context of Dawson/Joey) but I hear DOOL are slowly bringing back the families. I mean they seriously need to rebuild the DiMeras while it looks like Brady is the new villain.

I heard he died! RIP. It’s so sad…and yeah like Helena they are irreplaceable. They can never be replaced. I would like if EJ returned but yeah I agree he and Sami are supersoapcouple so they both have to be on canvas. Lucas/Sami are like the Stelena soulmates XD. 

I haven’t watched cuz the only character I really liked on that show was Gabi tbh and they ruined Gabi with Chad/Gabi which I liked at the beginning but they ruined it. Then, Abby, I can’t really get into tbh. I will try again but it’s hard when she is with Chad. Plus I liked the old Abby bit better even tho she was not my fav. Then again how I feel about Chad is how I feel about Valentin from General Hospital. You don’t act like a Dimera/Cassadine so I can’t take you seriously! 

Omg, I heard something that Brady is bad and Ericole? LMAO. I mean I don’t have super hope with Ron cuz I just look back @ what he did to GH when he was writing for my soap but I heard so far he been doing okay. So maybe he will get the families slowly back and I can watch again. 

It sucks cuz Dimeras where my fav family and now its just Chad/Abby 24/7 who they keep trying to push has this super soap couple I am not buying then Andre I give no fucks about and seem they tamed him so Chad accepts him???? Now my only fav I like is Gabi but she is with Eli now and I am like whhhyyy? XD 

IDK which soap has failed me the most Days of our Lives or General Hospital? Then I can’t even get into Y & R cuz The Billy I want is the Billy playing Drew but I don’t want to lose Billy Miller on GH & I am not into Philly that much and Victoria seems to want Billy again??? And I have tried watch and try to get into other characters but its hard cuz I don’t know them and last time I liked Y & R was when Steve Burton was on and idk anymore with these daytime soaps!!!!!
