so, what happens now that eggman has his memories back?
Eggman appears in the story like all good Sonic stories do, which is to say don't worry about. /s
Robotnik and Eggman are similar; egotistical, full of avarice and cruelty, with the inability to see the value of nature beyond its potential use. The main difference between them however, is hubris.
Eggman came to this land to get his memories back, or more specifically, to figure out what was missing. Because, while Sonic knows that his previous memories were him and struggles with the dichotomy of it all, Eggman doesn't care.
He'll use the name-confusion to his advantage sure, but to him, Robotnik was a prototype who failed. Eggman doesn't want to find a middle ground or explore his past self, clearly Eggman is the superior of the two. He is better than Robotnik was in every way and doesn't consider himself a 'copy' (maybe something closer to murder or weirdly Freudian, but he doesn't have that level of introspection lbr)
Which to say, that Ronotnik would love the secret, underground Illuminati cult dedicated to him. Instead, Eggman finds it distasteful at best; it's more talk than actual execution -but it's the thought that counts and he truly does appreciate it.
Eggman is found by dissentients and ends up in the middle of a political terrorist group headed by Snivly and some of the former elite. They want Robotnik back in power so they can reclaim their prior status and power. Which, early on Eggman was excited for, but he realized that the concept or 'Robotnik' has moved from a real person to a concept/figure piece. And he's no ones pawn and tries to dip when he realizes it.
However, pre-memory Eggman is having fun being an asshole dictator to his underlings who keep telling him he's going to change things. He doesn't believe it, mind, but he's willing to bide his time with his own plots and have someone deliver grapes to him. He's in the middle of this when he gets his memories back, so he goes from kinda vibing at having underlings to catching up on the unsaid downlow. But also, it doesn't take a multi-degree genius, rocket scientist to see the cult's ploy is half-baked useless trash.
The faction sees a traumatized and potentially loyal city with an army, the roboticizers, and a population that already "knows what to do." But Eggman is a realist and even if he went along with their desperate plan, the amount of work needed to make Robotropolis useful as a proper hub wasn't worth the effort.
Because, the thing is that Mobotropolis is a broken nation. It's politically, economically, and socially stressed and the unified government doesn't even have majority support. It's a starved city that doesn't have any remaining resources or a even a strategic location.
Plus, as a villain, he's a bit apathetic about the whole thing. What's the fun, the thrill of it all, in taking over something that's already been crushed? The population is already desolate and morally destroyed and they don't have anything left to offer. It feels like Robotnik's leftovers, a handicap that he doesn't need. No thanks.
And tbh, he really doesn't want to deal with the cult and if he was in charge, they'd all be in command too and he'd have to talk to people and be social and delegate and ugh, he'd never have time to be evil for himself. (He's too used to fighting on his own as Eggman and making his own allies. So having assistance in real people, that he didn't create and can't control, doesn't interest him)
So a time jump, and as he's actively ditching, he goes to take whatever data they have. And as he's stealing their archives, Tails' finds him (the context for that meme lol)
Fun fact: Eggman is Mobotropolis' largest trade partner and is the main importer of steel....which came from Robotnik in the first place. He noticed the discrepancies on the ledgers and the unofficial name change, but didn't think anything of if at the time

hi hi hi hello hi i miss hearing about the NT21 gang will you please provide information about them
you sent this months and months ago and i still haven't posted anything NT21 related even since then. i am so sorry <//3
ANYWAY!
hm. hm. information. facts
Ace's hair colour is.... not information i am privy to. Sometimes I imagine him with brown hair, sometimes black hair, sometimes ginger. same with his eyes; grey, green, blue, brown, hazel, all across the board. the writing in the draft reflects that, lmao. his descriptions are a mess.
Jade used to be a GFS character!! I've said this before but I think it's just funky info. I realized she would fit better in a thriller, and also if her gender was transed, and she WIP-hopped and became Jade! (that was the second transing of hers btw. she started cis, then i went "Hm needs the transification beam" and she became transmasc but that wasn't right either and now she is a trans girl)
Thalia used to be a very minor character. Like, yeah, the story revolved around her death, but it used to be just a thriller, not a supernatural thriller, so her ghost wasn't in the equation at all. now, though, she's in the main cast like she deserves <3
Rafael is like... such a distinct vibe in my head. He fakes being pretentious for fun. he's MLM but even i don't know if he's bi, pan, or gay. his brain moves at 234648 speeds at once. he at one point suspects Ace is the killer but immediately banishes the thought because "Ace is an anxious dumbass, he wouldn't get away with that". he frequently plays candy crush until his phone dies. he might be rich. he knows bees don't have lungs
Thalia's thing is codes, puzzles, and logic games, and as a ghost she writes them for the others to help solve her murder (since for secret plot reasons she can't just say it), but has to spend like a very long time making sure they're simple enough because after the first code she realizes none of these people can crack a code at all
Lissa actually takes architecture extremely seriously and is extremely smart and knowledgeable about it, however she uses this knowledge to create multi-hour YT videos about the architecture in apocalyptic video games. because. idk autism
One of the most violent scenes I've ever written involves Ace, the killer, and the monster. (I shall say no more.)
Ace's parents.... I hate them so much. Ace loves them so much and also hates them so much too, he doesn't know, it's complicated, okay. he has an entire arc that's just figuring out "is this part of my personality, or is this part of the personality my parents forced me to build?" for like every trait he has

You know what sealed the deal for me and convinced me why E*riel is unlikely to happen? -> Azriel's POV.
First off, I was never opposed to Elain and Azriel together. I figured, if it happens, it happens. They were not the couple I was invested in because there was so little info on them to begin with. And while some may think that disqualifies me to form an opinion on that ship, I think if anything, it allows me to see their relationship objectively with my shipping goggles off.
After 4 books of 'build up' as some like to call it, I was expecting to see more than what we were given in ACOSF and the POV. I needed substance that quite frankly was not there. I needed depth which was currently lacking. I needed there to be an emotional connection that ran deeper than the sexual connection we saw.
Yes, there is nothing wrong with a sexual connection between two consenting adults but it's the fact that there was nothing else beyond the sexual desire we saw. After finally being privy to one of the two character's POV, I wanted a small piece of revelation to show me how these two felt about each other (outside wanting to bang each other). Anything to give me an idea of the relationship these two have quietly built over the years. Apart from Elain telling Azriel her garden plans, what else do we really know about them? About what they have shared with each other? Nothing really and that's the crucial piece that's missing. Azriel wanting to eat Elain out does not exactly scream romantic to me.
And while some may see the almost kiss as a step in the right direction, I don't. Not when you look at the book and POV as a whole. Structurally, it says a lot with how Sarah laid out Azriel's chapter. The repeated phrase she used deliberately should not be dismissed so quickly. A kiss, or an almost kiss for that matter does not constitute a happy ending. If that were the case, Feyre and Tamlin would still be together (plus those two declared their love for one another and that wasn't enough to sustain their relationship). There is just too much to unravel between Elain and Azriel and almost zero progression in the latest release to convince me these two will make it or take the next book together.
hello anon,
yes to all of this.
I agrée that the relationship lacks depth because it was formed on the basis that they were both hurting and found companionship in each other. elain with greyson and az with mor. they are each other’s rebounds for people who meant a lot but in the end did not want them.
it’s very surface level with both of them refusing to see other then their idealized versions of each other. azriel sees elain as this helpless replacement to mor that he can save. he coddles her. while elain sees him as a savior without truly comprehending his darkness. when they first began to hang out, elain was in a very fragile place after turning fae, so azriel gave her a version of himself that made it easier on her. and she’s clung to that version without wanting or bothering to look past it.
it is a super important theme that each character can see and understand their significant other with all of their layers, and accept and want to be with them regardless. but azriel and elain have shown nothing that gives me reason to believe they would make a good couple. or that the consequences of them being together would be worth it.
during the bonus chapter, we get azriels pov so while we can only interpret and speculate on how elain feels, we actually have azriels thoughts. he said it himself he hadn’t thought about elain beyond the fantasy’s he pleasured himself. if azriel is willing to risk lucien, their best political ally, finding out then he better be thinking about forever but he’s not. he’s thinking about sex. which would be fine if yk everything falling apart wasn’t a huge possible outcome.
they don’t know each other. they don’t hang out because azriel has kept away. their “romantic moments” consist of silence, glances, and brushing of fingers. sounds exhilarating. also they just don’t have the must haves of an sjm couple. they don’t have banter. they don’t see all of each other. and we have never seen them challenge each other. in a book for them their relationship would either have to have an entire 180 or they would just be. (cough a boring bland ass couple cough)
granted elucien has none of that either but the difference is they don’t interact so we don’t know how their relationship would look and their book wouldn’t be next so they have the potential to have these attributes. but elriel they would just be soft, on soft, on soft. and Idk about you but couples like that literally make me want to kms. lol.
but gwynriel on the other hand. actually fits all of those categories. they have banter. they challenge each other. (cut to “see you tomorrow shadowsinger” and “you’re the new ribbon az”) and they see each other. (cut to gwyn knowing he likes to be alone and witnessing him brutally murder people. and azriel being there on her darkest day) also most importantly the only male gwyn is completely comfortable being around is azriel especially when you would think he’d be a walking reminder of everything she’s lost. but no.
also i dwould like to go back to this “build up” thing. acotar-they hadn’t met and azriel didn’t exist. acomaf-they were polite and azriel was completely pining after mor. and feyre said something connecting them but not seeing how feyres opinion matters. and he didn’t want to stay with her when they went to the court of nightmares. acowar-they sat in silence a couple times. azriel figured out she was a seer but like that’s not romantic. he gave her truth teller but I’m going to go with that was more of about elevating her confidence. he was very determined to rescue her. Ig this is romantic idk. acofas-the potato thing was about his mother. the gift. so really all this buildup is pretty minuscule
so wasn’t really sure how to answer this one but I enjoy getting asks and when people send me like whole ass essays.
