okay i knew it was coming but its kind of killing me how obtuse people are being towards toshiro (im not fucking calling him shuro and honestly yall should stop with that too). should he have told laios how he really felt about him, sure, yeah, but im going to go off on a limb here and suggest maybe! maybe! he's been raised in an environment where it's actually like legitimately unheard of and taboo to be very open and straight forward about his feelings. the entire party has been calling him by a name that literally isnt even his own because he is so used to quashing down his own reactions to others. like i think other poc diaspora dunmeshi fans might agree with me here but he just reads like someone whos not bothered enough to correct every microaggression thrown his way. because that shit is exhausting. and after like five hours of laios bugging him about stories of his homeland why would he have a good opinion of him. genuinely. im not saying laios is entirely at fault but neither is toshiro. i love laios too but it is Very Weird that toshiro gets the brunt of their friendship's falling out (ill circle back to this)

also to preface this i am a farcille shipper so im. not pushing for falin/toshiro. but people acting like his affection for falin is somehow not relevant or he has no devotion to falin at all is CRAZY. immediately after being teleported out he threw himself back into that dungeon and didnt eat or sleep properly to rescue her. we literally watch him collapse from it. after multiple episodes emphasizing the importance of nutrition and caring for yourself and your take away from a man willing to toss that away is that he just. doesn't care for falin? why is he in the dungeon then? answer. quickly. granted he's not as onboard with the whole black magic thing but his concerns are literally valid and before we see falin chimera he seems to have been talked down from reporting them all for it. its the proof of his concerns of the use of black magic that he decides to go up and report them at all. his bond with falin isn't nearly as strong as marcille's bond but its also not nothing. ignoring that or minimising his own sacrifices is such a nasty bad faith disservice to his character.

speaking of bonds. toshiro doesn't hate laios. guys. his last act this episode was to give laios and the rest of the party (yes, even black magic user marcille) a way out of the hole that they'd already dug for themselves. fleeing to the east and leaving falin to the elves isnt the best case scenario but it is one that lets the majority of the party survive whatever's coming. its the realistic play. is this the act of a man who hates his former colleagues? is he wishing harm and further misfortune on them? his actions speak for themselves. you guys are being way too hard on toshiro and its really fucking telling. this goes for white viewers especially

Prayer request cause I'm genuinely in mental pain rn:

My "father" invited us to Denny's next Saturday (the 23rd), and he wants to give us Christmas gifts.

Now, this might sound nice, if you didn't know him.

But yeah, it's just a manipulation tactic to try and "buy" our affection. I'm assuming he wants information as well, and he wants to gain something from this visit and future visits.

His exact words were:

"(Name) I apologize for my words. I won't make excuses. I was wrong and I'm sorry. I love you and (brother) very much. I'm hoping maybe you would like to come visit me for Christmas."

After I failed to respond, he sent:

"Maybe you feel uncomfortable coming to see me. How about this. You me and (brother) meet at Denny's and have dinner sometime soon. Just the three of us. We can have a nice visit and I can give you your Christmas gifts."

Again, this sounds nice and genuine, but based on his behavior my whole life, it's not. I don't trust him as far as I can throw him.

The issue comes in where I don't know how malicious he is exactly. I don't know if he's been in my room or not (we already established he's stolen things from our house), and I don't know how much he knows about me. He also hasn't gotten it through his head that he's lost me. He can't "buy my attention" anymore. I'm not 14 anymore. Apparently ignoring him for 2 years hasn't worked.

I don't know how much he's learned from breaking in, and I don't feel comfortable not knowing how much about my likes and interests he knows about. (Because he could potentially use said information in court to claim he knows his kids, even if he doesn't.)

Before he sent those texts, he'd texted something else that started off nice, but the second message became an attack on my mom. I assume he was drunk during the time, and that had been the first time he'd contacted me in two years (which is a horrible way to use his communication rights).

He wants to use his visitation (and his nonexistent relationship with us) for his personal gain. He's got something to gain from it, or he wouldn't have bounced from agressive to "nice" so quickly.

Prayer Request:

I'm just... really nervous. I haven't spoken to him in two years, and I've gotten a decent amount of anxiety from him in the past two years. I want the confidence and knowledge to say what needs to be said, and reply to whatever he says in the best way possible.

I'm already trying to pray for that, and I'm practicing, and I'm gonna see my counselor on Monday.

#like okay so the set-up is this my flatmate (F) is chronically ill and is on immunosuppressants as well as a fuckton of other stuff #and she started smoking weed bc it's the only thing she's ever found that even touches her pain #ive NEVER had a problem with that ive never had a problem with WEED even IVE done it a couple times #but me and her have VERY different attitudes towards drugs #i came from a hometown where we were between two notoriously drug-high towns/cities and we get caught in a lot of the trading #between those towns so naturally my town just generated a fuck ton of dealers starting when they were like. thirteen years old #i saw it through my entire year i was exposed to class A drugs when i was like. fifteen at parties and shit #it's HUGE in my town i seriously can't express how much it's crippled the youth of my town #like my childhood best mate's brother literally got glassed bc he got into debt with dealers it's just everywhere #so that alone makes me very wary of drugs and like. the novelty of them is just NOT THERE for me at all i actively dislike them #AND THEN there's all the kids in my year that have died bc of substances. there's the phone call when i was AT A PARTY #that my seventeen year old cousin had OD'd. like that just summed it up for me it's so prevelant that i was at a party with drugs #while he was dying. so yeah wholeheartedly i couldn't give a shit about drugs i wont touch anything stronger than weed and even that #im not keen on. my flatmate however? she DOES drugs like she smokes regularly and she likes edibles #but she doesn't come from a druggy place so it's a weird combo of me (doesn't do drugs) knowing more than her (does do drugs) #and bc she's the one who actually does them she pure WONT LISTEN TO ME #and do u know what happened last night? this girl on IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS got completely fucked #like drank 2/3 of a big bottle of vodka within an hour. and then she fucking went and did ket #and i literally was like 'that would be an awful idea anyway but ket you're REALLY supposed to not mix with alcohol' #like obvs mixing any high class drugs is bad news but ket is renowned for going bad with alcohol #i think it's bc it shuts off the opposite side of the brain that alcohol does? so taking both increases risk of shutting the whole thing of #or smthn. like people forget than an overdose isn't always fatal and i think bc they associate overdosing = dying #they assume the risk is EXTREMELY low especially when ur young and feel untouchable #AND THEN she smoked some weed as well. like i literally sat sober with her and her mate the entire time and again in the kitchen #bc i thought id distracted her from the weed and sitting with her she thought i was just hanging out #like NO BITCH IM MAKING SURE YOU DONT KHOLE BC YOU WERE TOO STUPID TO LISTEN TO ME #and i hardly slept last night bc i convinced myself when i woke up she'd be dead in her room #and we had such a nice day planned today like it's super sunny and me F and another mate are spending the whole day at the park #but she's just cancelled bc she feels too shit and im just. I think Michael would get really into it, (as described by the script, "Jeremy's music obsessed friend" lmao) but I think he's more of the kind of guy to jam out casually and alone than in front of other people. He'd reluctantly accept the battle and absolutely crush it, but i think ultimately Jenna would win. She thrives whenever she's the center of attention, and would try to keep all eyes on her. She's tried hard to be noticed for so long, so I wouldn't be surprised if she practiced in her spare time or something to be seen at Jake's parties or something. Michael would probably falter under that attention, leaving Jenna as the winner.
