Harriet Corwin has been in Eichen House since she was a little girl. She spent her days reading while drinking tea outside and specifically adored reading Alice in Wonderland. Then a new boy was admitted and she could just feel that he was not where he was meant to be. This was Alice, and she was going to be a damn good March Hare.

A Duke's Introduction to Courtship by Sophie Barnes

A Duke's Introduction to Courtship by Sophie Barnes was an historical romance, the second book in a series called Gentleman Authors. The book focused on Brody Evans, Duke of Corwin.  With his pals, Brody wrote a romance novel.  They hoped that the novel will help them earn back money they so foolishly spent when they were younger.  

Harriet Michaels found work with a printer, as a male.  She discovered that that pretense was important to allow her to make a living to keep both her and her sister alive in London.  She is desperate to keep her secret despite the various struggles.  Brody wanted to have a publisher read the book, when he ran across a job for an assistant editor reading the first chapters of novels looking for a great read.  He worked for the publisher for several days when he slipped his book in the queue for reading.  

Meanwhile he met Harry Michaels and found himself inexplicably drawn to the young man.  This threw Brody into a crisis, after all he has always been drawn to females.  The twists and turns of the story would eventually reveal the truths and Brody and “Harry” were a couple meant for each other. 

A Duke's Introduction to Courtship by Sophie Barnes was a good read.

Hey hi! Could you tell me some stuff about Harriet Corwin and Maia Stilinski? I'm really interested in them ☺

I love these guys so I'm always up to talk about them!

In Maia Stilinski’s fic the Stilinski’s have a secret, more specifically Claudia Stilinski. Claudia was a vampire and she had lived a very long time by drinking human blood, until she married Noah and decided she wanted kids.

Okay so, vampires here are only vampires by drinking blood, so if they simply don’t drink blood they become more like humans, thus letting Claudia get pregnant. But by the time the effects of her not drinking blood really started to get to her she was already pregnant with Maia and drinking blood would have put Maia in danger. Then when Maia was born it was simply too late for Claudia.

Stiles and Maia are technically half-vampires which means they can survive and live a human life without ever drinking blood or ever activating their vampire side. Their vampire side can activate by anything supernatural happening to their body for example, a nogitsune or werewolf bite. Once the vampire side is activated they can use a small amount of vampire powers without needing to drink blood, but if they were to drink blood their powers would become much stronger.

Maia discovers the vampire secret before Stiles after she is bitten by Scott hoping to become a werewolf only to have seemingly nothing happen to her. Stiles then activates his side when the nogitsune leaves his body.

Meanwhile with Harriet Corwin, she is a fairy. Harriet was abandoned as a baby by her biological fairy parents and then grew up with her adoptive family in Beacon Hills. She became best friends with Theo Raeken and unknowingly used her fairy magic to ‘mark’ him.

Fairy lore time!

Fairies are powerful and long living creatures who live far away from humans, who they view as inferior beings. Fairies are naturally powerful but there is a way for a fairies magic to double in power and that is through a ‘mark’. It is something fairies can only do to humans and it is very frowned upon, especially since humans are so weak compared to fairies. A ‘mark’ literally bonds a fairies magic to a human, so a fairy can only ever use their magic when the human is around, but once the human dies, so does the fairies magic. The ‘mark’ cannot be taken away once it has been placed no matter what.

On a slightly different note, fairy magic is weird. They’re kind of like the Wild Hunt in a way as anyone who isn’t supernatural or imbued with magic will immediately forget the existence of fairies once they aren’t interacting with one.

With all of that dealt with let’s get back to Harriet. Harriet is a young fairy child who has no idea what the fairy world is like so she doesn’t know what the ‘mark’ is and she doesn’t know that she gave it to Theo who as we all know would shortly leave Beacon Hills. This does not bode well for Harriet. Without her magic she forgets herself and is sent to Eichen House where she stays all the way until Stiles pops up in there.

Harriet is still biologically a fairy so she could sense the nogitsune’s presence in Stiles and naturally drifted towards him, this eventually leads to her escaping when he does so she could warn his friends. A bunch of stuff then happens and eventually Chris Argent takes her in.

Then there’s a whole Theo plot but wow there’s a lot of paragraphs already
