#happy birthday sayaka 2022

Note
A rather late visitor appears at your doorstep looking absolutely exhausted.
“Happy…birthday” Kanade gave you a weary smile before handing you a small variety of presents
From Lana you received a portrait- Sayaka was dressed as a queen, a small crown atop  her head and a pink dress with little ribbons around the collar were the standouts of her outfit in the picture. She’s standing next to her daughter who’s dressed like a princess.
They both are smiling as they wave to the crowd.
From Itsuki you received a set of fancy fountain pens- all of these pens share a few common traits
They all have little pink diamonds around the tops and they all have the Femme Fatale logo etched into the middle.
From Kanade you received- A plush toy…ITS MR SPOOKY!! He’s holding a little pink butterfly!
“I’m sorry I was late- I had a performance here and then there was a meet the cast thing and someone tried to drag me away- that’s not important right now”
“Happy birthday mom!!” Kanade gasped in horror as she processed the words that left her mouth “I-I’m so sorry I- I didn’t mean to sound weird- I just…I kinda see you like a…mother figure…I wish I had a mother like you”
Humming a tune, Sayaka opened the door and smiled brightly at the young girl on the other side. “Kanade-chan!” She greeted cheerfully, steeping aside so the girl can step in. “It’s so good to see you!”
Gingerly taking the gifts from her, she took a moment to admire all of them before setting them down on the nearby table.
Giving a breath of awe at the painting, she gently ran a hand down on the canvas, eyes sparkling as she looked at the regal version of herself and her daughter. Really, she should’ve expected nothing less from Lana, she always managed to capture people in their truest form (plus the regency style she chose is quite magical). Honestly, she felt quite flattered, she never really thought of herself as royalty or anything of the sort but it was comforting to know that people-her friends-hold her in such high regard.
Gently placing the portrait down, she made a mental note to hang it up later in her room.
Moving on to the pens, Sayaka gasped as she held one up close to inspect it. “Goodness…” she breathed out as she ran a finger across the top, feeling the small pink diamonds, she wasn’t sure if they were real or not but it made her happy all the same. Itsuki is a good friend of hers, she’ll make sure to take good care of the pens, in fact, she’ll definitely have to give one to Lola and Kureha. After all, as her teammates, it’s only right that they rock their brand, even in the simplest of ways.
Setting the pens down with a smile, she went on to the next and last present.
She let out a playful gasp, “Could it be that I have finally obtained a Mr. Spooky?!” She grinned and gave the plush a small hug, she’d have no doubt that Yoshiko would find him, even if she decided to place him in her room so she’ll just have to make do with the time she had before his inevitably whisked away to her daughter’s room, what can she say? The girl really loved plushies.
Setting the ghost down, she turned to the younger Alarie sister and gave her a beaming smile. “Thank you so much for the presents, Kanade-chan!” Her smile then turned to a concerned frown as she noticed just how tired the usually cheerful girl was. “Hun? Are you okay?” She asked as she tilted her head to the side.
When the word ‘mom’ slipped out of the younger girl’s mouth, Sayaka’s eyes widen and her mouth dropped open slightly from shock. Did she hear that right? She wasn’t upset, not at all, quite the opposite actually, she didn’t think young Kanade looked up to her so much to the point where she saw her as a mother, it made her feel extremely happy…and also extremely sad, nearly everyone in the divisions knew about the Alarie sisters tragic past and the abuse they suffered at the hands of their poor excuse of a mother. Sayaka can’t imagine doing something so horrible to her child, she would rather die than bring any sort of harm to her children.
Snapping out of her stupor, Sayaka was surprised to find the girl almost in tears, her own teary eyes softened and she placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, making Kanade gasp and snap her head to look up at her, half fearfully and half…hopeful. Gently, she brought the younger girl into a hug, holding her firmly but not too tightly, giving her the chance to back away if she really wanted to. “I don’t mind,” she said, voice thick with emotion, “if it makes you happy then you can call me mother whenever you like, I may not be your biological mother but you deserve a parent Kanade, a good one, one that will love you unconditionally…and I’ll be that, if you want me to.”
It took a good while to get Kanade to stop crying but Sayaka didn’t mind at all that her blouse was soaked in tears, it’s a mother’s job to make sure her children are always happy and healthy.
“Why don’t you stay for a while, hun, rest up for a bit, I’ll call Lana and tell her you’re okay.”
“Y-yeah…I’d like that…mom.”
Thank you for the gift!

It was late into the night in the city of Edogawa, it was also around the time of a certain woman’s birthday was wrapping up. Yuriko faintly smiled as she sat in the comfort of the living room, sipping on a nice, hot cup of tea and enjoying a book, she could hear the sounds of Kaoru tinkering in her lab and Kanra in the kitchen making a(nother) cake for the celebration today despite Yuriko telling her that it was too late to be having sugar at this time but ultimately decided to let her proceed seeing how happy she is. Never in her life did Yuriko would think she would start to enjoy her birthday again but life has a way of surprising people, she thinks, chuckling when she heard a shout of pain and a string of curses coming from the direction of Kaoru’s lab.
The sound of a doorbell ringing knocked her out of her thoughts, she looked at the grandfather clock on the wall and raised an eyebrow, now who would be at her doorstep at a time like this? Especially at a place as ominous looking as the Kuromiya residence. Shrugging, she set her tea and book down on the coffee table in front of her and got up from her position on the couch, she strutted over towards the door and opened it. Much to her surprise, a friendly and somewhat familiar face was what greeted her. “Hello Yuriko-san, happy birthday!” The leader of the Saitama Division, Sayaka Miyuki cheered with a beaming smile that could rival the sun itself, in her arms were three presents, all wrapped in a shade of a purple wrapping paper.
Quickly brushing off her surprise, the older woman let the brunette woman in, “Sayaka-san, what a pleasant surprise. I assume you’re here because of my birthday, yes?” The former assassin struck up a conversation while leading the forensic scientist into the living room where she dropped off the presents. “Mhm! It was actually Kanra that mentioned it to me and I knew I just had to give you something, or at least wish you a happy birthday, which by the way, happy birthday!” Sayaka intertwined her fingers in front of her and smiled, and despite herself, Yuriko couldn’t help but smile back, it was infectious. “Thank you, Sayaka-san, it truly means a lot.” She expressed her gratitude making the younger woman beam even brighter if that was humanly possible.
“Would you like to stay for some cake? It’s the least I can do after you went through the trouble of getting here.” The white haired woman offered to which the amber eyed woman politely shook her head, “Ah, thank you for the kind offer but I should be going, it’s quite late and I don’t want to leave Kureha and Yoshiko alone for too long, thank you though and happy birthday!” The single mother gave her one last birthday wish before getting up and headed towards the door (of course not after being tackled into a hug by a certain pink haired girl and making her promise to visit again soon). The birthday woman wished her a farewell before looking back at the presents still on the table, urged on by Kanra (and Kaoru when she came out of her lab), she picked up one present, which was distinctly shaped and quite light and opened it.
A plate of three cupcakes sat neatly arranged in a triangle, protected by a covering of plastic but that wasn’t what caught her attention, the cupcakes were decorated beautifully with white lilies made out of frosting, while it was beautiful and definitely had good intentions, Yuriko couldn’t help but snort at the thought and message behind the flower. Looking besides the cupcakes was a letter, the familiar handwriting she knew belonged to Sayaka. ‘Happy birthday, Yuriko-san! For my present, I made cupcakes, forgive me if white lilies aren’t your favorite but I can’t help but to feel like they fit you well, they’re beautiful just like you! Be sure to share them with Kanra and Kaoru!’
Tumblr media
Smiling at the note, she set it along with the cupcakes aside and moved onto the second present, this one holding a bit more weight than the last one, opening it, she found a set of expensive hair care products, she immediately recognized the product as Ten Voss, one of the most expensive hair care products in the world and raised an eyebrow in surprise, like before, there was a card that came with the present, this time it was from Lola. ‘Happy birthday, BD. Don’t worry about paying me back, think of it as a Christmas gift and birthday present wrapped into one, from everyone’s favorite Angel.’
Tumblr media
Smirking, she picked up a bottle of shampoo and carefully inspected it, yep, it was the real deal alright, not that she expected the Saitama model to gift her a counterfeit. Placing the bottle back inside the box and carefully setting it aside, she turned her attention to the third and final present, this one feeling a tad bit heavier than both presents, ripping open the wrapping paper, she was met with a beautiful canvas painting of bats in the night sky. It was quite beautiful, Yuriko thought, checking to see if a note had came with it and sure enough, like with Sayaka and Lola’s, a note was tucked inside the back of the canvas, this time being from Kureha. ‘Happy birthday, Kuromiya-san. I hope you enjoy the painting, I’ll admit, your team symbol has given more a lot of inspiration, it’s only fair that you should have one of your own.’
Tumblr media
Smiling once more, she placed the note down and picked up the painting, walking over to a part of the living room, she placed the artwork on a blank part of the wall, stepping back to inspect it, she nodded with approval. Looking over to see Kanra and Kaoru eating their cupcakes Sayaka got for them, the white haired woman couldn’t help but smile, quite a turnout this birthday had become, she thought, perhaps this year wasn’t so bad after all.
Happy birthday Yuriko!
"It was nice of Auntie Sayaka to come down and give you presents from her and her team." Kanra mentioned quickly stuffing the last of her cupcake in her mouth.
"Wow I know she's a famous artist but Kureha's work sure is something else." Kaoru whistled. Eating her cupcake as she admired the work Kureha had put into the painting. "Really captures our spooky vibe don't ya think?"
"Spooky?"
"Well we're not rainbows and sunshine are we?"
"Okay but spooky?"
Drowing out Kaoru and Kanra as they began to argue Yuriko picked up her cupcake out the box and stared at the white lily on top. Snorting Yuriko couldn't help but think of the irony of being named after a flower associated with death. While she knew Sayaka thought nothing of giving her item shaped like her namesake. Yuriko's thoughts couldn't help but go down a dark path. Taking a bite of the cupcake Yuriko wondered if it was the world's way of saying death would always be apart of who she was.
"Yuriko you gotta let me borrow some of this hair stuff." Kaoru mentioned bringing Yuriko out of her thoughts.
"It's gonna make your hair look so pretty Yuriko-san." Kanra squealed excited to try it out on Yuriko's long hair.
No the Black Dahlia thought. She wasnt just death. There were other parts to her now. Finishing up her cupcake Yuriko reached out and grabbed the box of products walking away with them.
"Okay you two let's try it out then. Maybe it'll help with both of your messy hairs." Yuriko told the two with Kaoru and Kanra scrambling behind her eager to try out the gift.

As the day was winding down, so was the birthday of a very special woman in the city of Ueno. Shisuta was sitting comfortably on her couch, reading a novel and just generally the peaceful atmosphere of her home. Just as she was about to turn the page, the doorbell to her home sound throughout her house. Setting her book down, she lifted herself off the couch and walked towards the door, opening it, she was greeted by a friendly face.
Sayaka Miyuki of Saitama stood on the outside much to the Nun’s surprise, in her arms were three gifts of varying sizes. “Happy birthday!” She cheered, after being invited in. “Kisouna told me it was your birthday today so I wanted to give you something! Kureha and Lola also pitched in, we really hope you like it!” She helped set the presents on the table and gave the other woman a beaming smile, “I wish I can stay but it is quite late and I actually just got off my shift at the detective agency, I’ll be going now, once again, happy birthday!” And with that, the Saitama Division Leader left.
Bidding the brunette woman farewell, she gently closed the door and turned back to the gifts sitting on the table. Picking up one, she noticed that it was from Sayaka. She also found that it was quite soft in texture and carefully peeled off the wrapping paper to find a newly made throw pillow.
Tumblr media
Pleasantly surprised at such a wonderful gift, Shisuta smiled and placed it neatly on the couch. It fit perfectly. Moving on to the next present, this one, she noticed, was from Kureha.
Tumblr media
It was a simple tea and mug set, along with some herbs and spices but judging from the craftsmanship of the box it was in, it seemed to be homemade. Shisuta smiled and placed the box gently back on the table, she was actually thinking of making some tea before the doorbell rang so this was nicely timed gift.
Moving on to the last and smallest present, this one was from Lola. Shisuta was shocked to find a beautifully crafted ring with a cross and a rose onto it, Shisuta wasn’t one for jewelry or material items as such but even she can’t help but to marvel at it. Gingerly setting it down, she looked to find that there was only a card left, picking it up and opening it, she felt her heart warm at the message.
Tumblr media
‘Happy Birthday, Shisuta!’
— From, Femme Fatale
The Catholic nun felt tears well up in her eyes as she looked at all of the gifts the Saitama team had presented her. It was truly very nice and kind of each of them. Quickly wiping her eyes, she looked as Aranai, her team leader and daughter, came from the other room.
"Who was that at this time of the night?" Aranai asked, cocking an eyebrow. Looking at all of the gifts that were on the living room table, the SC leader raised her eyebrows and walked closer to them.
"Wow, who's all this from?"
"Sayaka-san, as well as Lola-san and Kureha-chan." Shisuta answered as she picked up the pillow from Sayaka and was already placing it in the center of her living room sofa. Aranai looked at the ring Lola had gifted her surrogate mother and whistled as it certainly looked nice. Handing it off to the Catholic nun, she looked as she slipped it onto one of her fingers and noticed that it was a perfect fit. The daughter couldn't help but give a small smile as her mother liked it.
"This was so nice of them. I'll have to be sure to write them all a thank-you note."
Looking at the tea set Kureha gifted her, she smiled as she read what was on the mug and picked up the entire display.
"I think I'll have myself a nice cup of tea before bed." She looked back at Aranai with a smile. "Care to join me, Aranai-chan?"
The former Bōsōzoku grimaced as her mother offered her a cup. Truthfully, she didn't mind tea, but it often tasted too bland for her tastes. But since it was her mother, she felt it would be rude to refuse. Sighing, she nodded as she walked towards the kitchen.
"Got any cream or sugar to add with it?"

The day, as well, as a certain farmer's birthday was almost coming to an end. The sun had set and the stars and moon were now coming out, decorating the sky. The aforementioned birthday boy, Asato, sighed as he closed the door after receiving yet another melon themed birthday gift. Truthfully, he wasn't at all annoyed by the watermelon styled gifts he got, in fact, he was more impressed by the creativity everyone had when making/buying these gifts. Never had he thought he would meet so many interesting people, it was a little overwhelming but...also really nice.
Just as he was about to walk away from the door, the doorbell had sounded again, signaling that someone was yet again at the door, most likely another person with presents. 'They sure work quick, don't they?', He thought as he opened the door again, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise at who he saw.
Kureha Koizumi of Saitama stood sheepishly outside the Rikiya Residence holding a multitude of gifts wrapped in watermelon themed wrapping paper. "Uh, hey." She sheepishly greeted and gestured her head towards the presents in her arms. "Happy birthday."
Blinking once, twice, three times in surprise. Asato opened his mouth, "...Do you want help with that?"
"Yes please."
Taking the gifts from her, the artist let out a sigh of relief as she could feel her arms relax from keeping a tight grip on the presents. When Asato invited her inside, she shook her head with a small smile, "Ah, sorry, I was actually just here to drop those off, I'm actually heading towards a concert. Sorry again but I hope you have a very happy birthday, see you!" With that, the bluenette took off towards the way of the train stations.
Waving, the farmer closed the door and waited for a bit in case the doorbell to ring again but walking off after a bit. Placing the gifts on the table along with the others, he decided to open the biggest, a square shaped present from Kureha.
Tumblr media
'I wasn't sure what to get you to be honest but I remember in an interview that you said you like mountains so I did a landscape painting, it's...a bit colorful than your usual landscape but I hope you like it. Happy birthday.'
Blinking in awe, he carefully set the painting down. "Pretty." He murmured. He looked at the next gift, another big one but much smaller than the painting, this one is from Sayaka.
Tumblr media
'Happy birthday, Rikiya-san! I crocheted this watermelon blanket for you! I thought it can help during cold nights! Take care and happy birthday!'
Holding the blanket, he found it was soft to the touch and smell faintly of...baked goods? Odd...but pleasant. Setting the blanket down, he opened the last present, the smallest and most distinctive shape. This one was from Lola.
Tumblr media
'Hiya Mr. Melon Man! Happy birthday, I wasn't sure what to get you but I figured you'd be hella thirsty after eating so much melon cakes don't ask me how I know I just do, so I got you a refreshing drink to wash it down. I heard it's one of the best and judging from the price I payed to get it, I'd really hope it is. Happy birthday, dear! ❤'
Staring at the bottle of expensive wine, Asato really didn't know how to react...should be react? Eh, whatever. One thing is for sure, he really has met some interesting people.
Taking the painting and setting it with the other painting that Lana from Kyoto had given him, he settled for setting up his new painting and photo frame for later. His focus, after the long dreary day was to call it a night and relax.
Picking up the blanket and wrapping himself into a burrito, he laid on his futon. Tried as he might, he couldn’t bring himself to sleep when the bottle from Lola taunted him from across the room…
Begrudgingly getting up, he crawled over and started to open it. Sniffing the contents of the bottle cautiously he then sampled a bit, finding it to be… Not unpleasant? Alarmingly good actually. Holding himself back from just chugging the entire bottle, Asato shut the wine and set it aside, figuring it would be better to save it for later.
Feeling an uncharacteristic sense of happiness and satisfaction, he crawled back onto the mattress, curling back into his new blanket. Surrounded by the gifts from all the people he had managed to meet and even befriend…
The ‘melon lord’ drifted into sleep.
Thank you! The blanket is perfect~ Not to mention the painting too. Melon theme 5/5(?). Everyone stuck to a theme lololol

Just Leave a Comment Fest 2022
I wasn’t sure at first how I wanted to express all of my comments, because while this is very much a good faith-based reporting system, I’ve seen a lot of people posting their totals with link recommendations to all of the stuff they commented on! And I think that’s awesome, so I’ve decided to divide it up by my two main fandoms.
So this is the Danganronpa one, and the other will be the Fire Emblem one. Overall, though, I got a grand total of 25. I know a lot of people have been doing numbers like this or higher in a day, but I’ve been a bit more sociable this week, so I’ve made my goal for next year to increase that number a lot more! Even if I didn’t average as many as others, though, I’ve gotten about 14 replies so far from excited authors, and that warms my heart.
So without further ado, here is my list of Danganronpa recommendations based on “Just Leave a Comment Fest 2022” (and please be warned of spoilers!):
• “Reconciliation” by peachykeane - A Mahiru & Fuyuhiko is a Gen one-shot, focused on Mahiru and Fuyuhiko’s attempt to reconcile with one another following the end of Super Danganronpa 2. In particular, the discussion follows Natsumi, and Mahiru coming to understand what she meant to him. The fic does an excellent job of establishing tone and theme, and ultimately presents a very in-character interpretation of events.
• “The Unfortunate Origin of Jun’ichi Maizono” by Capnii ( @capnii / @kazukibou ) - A fankid one-shot about one of the children from the Kazukibou series, Jun’ichi Maizono, as he tries to fight for success as an idol in the post-Tragedy world, trying to carve out a place for himself with an identity not based on his close relation to Sayaka… especially when the relation actually isn’t that close at all. Please note that this story does contain grooming, but its depiction is not glamorized nor romanticized. Overall this is a great introduction to Jun’ichi as a character and provides a nice springboard to anyone looking to get into the Kazukibou series. Full of charisma and smiles, I think Jun’ichi is a character who’s story is sure to charm you.
• “It’s a Togami Thing” by ScribbleTeaaa - A one-shot centred around Byakuya Togami and an exploration of him dealing with his aroace identity. The story does a great job of juxtaposing Byakuya’s personality and backstory with the intended exploration, making the portrayal feel quite natural and strong. I don’t think I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading an aroace fic focused just on the aroace character, so enjoying this made my heart quite happy.
• “The Fool” by zenonaa - A Mastermind Yasuhiro one-shot, originally written for the “I Am the Mastermind” zine. This short piece follows a chess game between Jin Kirigiri and Yasuhiro Hagakure. The composition of “The Fool” is deeply effective, with every sentence packing a bigger punch than the last as you creep further and further through this unnerving story, trying to figure out where exactly this is going to go next. I actually went into this one not knowing it was a mastermind story, but damn, was it good. I particularly loved the author’s careful word choice and metaphor; it was truly inspired.
• “The Trouble with Mice” by On_The_Fr1tz - A multi-chapter non-despair AU story about Hiyoko Saionji who, after a failed birthday party for herself and a commotion at a baby Chiaki Nanami’s, decides that she wants to try and become a better person. This a somewhat short multi-chapter, but based on what I’ve read so far, more words might not be needed. The author has a great grasp on the characters and the relationships between them, and balances Hiyoko’s canon personality well — you both sympathize with her and understand why all of the others dislike her, and want to see if she really can succeed in her quest to make her life better. This one was an instant bookmark for me, and I’m sure it will be for a lot of you, too.
• “Naegiri 2022 Collection” by Weirddancer14 - Title is self-explanatory, it is a series of Makoto/Kyoko one-shots based on the prompts for this year’s Naegiri Week. I haven’t had the chance to read all of the ones in it, but I did get to read at least two, and boy were they fun! The dynamics between several of the characters are well-executed, and the best points of Makoto and Kyoko’s relationship are captured with ease. It is chock full of sugary sweetness for the couple, whether it’s dancing together or sending cute texts, so you’re guaranteed a good time no matter which story you pick.
• “Survivor’s Guilt” by redoxchai - A Kyoko/Makoto one-shot, this time… with angst! Don’t worry, neither of them die — it’s a realistic depiction of their feelings post-Killing Game and during the Hope Restoration Program, leaning more towards Makoto’s perspective, but still adding in a healthy amount of Kyoko’s. I really loved how this fic confronted Makoto’s non-hope-related emotions, and let him go through his feelings in an open, interesting way that let the reader really feel like they were in on things, and then further share the relief when those feelings were out.
• “A Pleasant Unplaceable Scent” by ScribbleTeaaa - A Makoto-centric one-shot about his grief after the death of Sayaka Maizono in the first trial. I actually didn’t realize that this was the second piece I got from the same author until I started making the list, but I guess you can say that this is a vouch for them writing some good stuff! This fic was powerful, making you really feel for Makoto and the life that was lost in Sayaka. He didn’t just lose someone as the contestant in the Killing Game — he lost someone that he cared about, someone who was his friend. This is captured with a degree of skill, and made for an overall appealing story.
• “Two in One” by Potato_of_Regrets - A Toko & Syo one-shot that gives a more personal relationship between the core identity and the alter, making it less about the murder and more about the little ways that each girl’s life imprints itself upon the other. Given that the depiction of DID in the actual games is so rocky, this story was amazing at showcasing the relationship as something much more concrete and natural. It scratched an itch I didn’t even know I had, and I think it’s definitely one that I will keep coming back to.
• “The Ultimate Detective and the Ultimate Hope Gaiden: Christmas with Shuichi!” by wiifan2009 ( @wiifan2009 ) - A Shuichi/Fanchild OC one-shot written for Christmas, centred on the Gaiden series. This fluffy fic starts out following Makoto, Kyoko, and their four children as they celebrate Christmas together, but then turns romantic when Shuichi Saihara, dear friend to their eldest daughter Kiki, comes over to drop off his present. It then turns into a bit of a “will they, won’t they” Christmas romance. This story is heavy on the shiptease, but evokes a great many cozy feelings in your heart that even if you’re reading it past Christmas, you won’t really mind the lack of thematic relevance. I don’t know if I would say that it’s the perfect place for start if you’re just getting to know Kiki and her family, but what I can say is that if this story has inspired you to start, you’re in for a loooot of fun content (some of it beta read by me!), so there will never be a dull moment no matter what works you choose to read!
• “Sondam: Eldritch Dinners” by Weirddancer14 - Another occasion where I caught the same author twice, completely by accident! AO3 is funny like that. This one is a Sonia/Gundham one-shot about the two of them making dinner together. It’s chock full of fun little character moments, integrating headcanons naturally, and using each of its sentences to evoke the right emotions. When Gundham is explaining how to cook the recipe to Sonia, each sentence is written close to his tone, showing off the drama and importance of getting the recipe right to him. And the story is all like that, all beautifully written couple’s fluff that will satisfy the needs of any Sondam fan.
• “Tu Fui, Ego Eris (But I’ll Make You Wait)” by Moiloru ( @moiloru ) - Another Makoto/Kyoko one-shot (yes, I have a Naegiri addiction, but that’s neither here nor there), this one is about Hope’s Peak first year back at school, while Makoto is making the opening speech and reflecting on everything they have lost to now come so far. While Kyoko attempts to comfort him afterwards, the fic showcases a series of small nuances and complicated emotions affiliated not just with their situation but their relationship as well, making for a particularly intriguing story. Of course, we do get our sweet ending, but the emotional power all the way there is sure to draw you in until that nice finale.
And with that, we have gone over aaaaaall of my Danganronpa readings for Just Leave a Comment Fest 2022! Hopefully you found something cool new to read, and are thinking you might want to join in come next year.

Happy Pride Month!
Happy Pride Month everyone! Be safe and have fun celebrating! You matter and who you love and who/what you identify as matters too, you are completely valid ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖
In celebration, I decided to reveal the romantic and sexual orientation of CodeX! I had to do quite a bit of research and to be honest, I still feel like it isn’t…right? So it might change later in the future, but for now, enjoy!

Aromantic Asexual (Sex-Repulsed)
Not much to say really, Ritsuko finds the concept of sex and romantic relationships completely pointless and foolish, she’s been like that ever since her early teens and most likely will continue that mindset for the rest of her life. She’s completely fine with that and anyone who says anything to her can go choke literally.

“K-Kobayashi-san”
The younger of the two sisters approached the door with caution, her teammates were no where in sight.
“Happy…birthday”
Kanade hands you a few boxes and bags
From Lana you received
A portrait of Miho?: Lana usual doesn’t do portraits of people but lately it seems like she’s been doing that more and more. The portrait itself is a fairly odd depiction of Miho, dressed in fairly regal attire and sitting on a golden throne. On the bottom of the painting is the signature “Stella”
From Itsuki you received
A box of sweets: It seems like the graphic designer went wild when arranging this, a various layout of things he thought Miho might like.
From Kanade you received
A ghost plush: This time, Mr spooky seems to be carrying a briefcase! I wonder where he’s going with that briefcase
Miho was surprised to say the least, when Goro said that there was someone that wanted to speak with her, she had expected a co-worker or maybe an associate. Not sweet, little Kanade from Kyoto and especially not with gifts.
The portrait was beautiful, no doubt about that, Miho wasn't the type to see herself as royalty but this painting was starting to give her some thoughts. After complimenting on it's craft, she had Goro take it to have it hang up in the living room.
The box of sweets were well made and quite delicious, Miho would say that she wasn't a sweets person but that was obviously a lie, although they weren't as good as Goro's, she made a mental note to give Itsuki a gift when his birthday arrives.
Finally, there was the plush, it was very cute and she supposed the briefcase was a nod towards her profession. Admittedly, Miho never had a plushie before, not even as a child, her parents had deemed them childish and would serve as a distraction from her studies. Holding the ghost in her hands, she wondered if her child self would be happy if she got something like this.
Realizing that she hadn't said anything which made the young girl in front of her all the more nervous, she cleared her throat and gave her a small, yet genuine smile.
"Thank you, sincerely, Kanade, I appreciate you coming all this way, these gifts are wonderful."

— Shinagawa Division—
It was approximately 8:00p.m. on a hot June day and the sun had set, letting nighttime take control until sunrise of the next day. On the outskirts of the city of Shinagawa, hidden by the foliage was a building approximately 8 stories in height and was lit up colorfully like a candle in the dark, while it may look like an old abandoned building to the few that have seen it, what lies inside the building can on,y be described as a one of a kind extraordinary. This is the headquarters of the infamous hacktivist group, Scorpion Den.
In the fifth floor of the building, the inside looked a mix between a punk anarchist and a SiFi fan’s dream, it was quite lively with many people working on a plethora of things while others were simply lounging around the area and socializing. On one of the platforms was a girl with black and purple hair tied into twintails, the girl so happened to be Sumire Shinomiya, Scorpion Den’s unofficial leader. She sat on a workbench and appeared to be working on something, giving how stone faced her features were, it looked like whatever she was working on had some importance, this wasn’t anything new for the girl but this time in particular was different, for it was a special occasion.
So immersed in her work, she didn’t hear the sound of the elevator being activated and footsteps approaching her until she felt a tap on her shoulder. Dropping her screwdriver, the two color haired girl jumped with a yelp and immediately twisted her head to look at whoever disturbed her, sighing when she realized that it was only her best friends and most trusted confidants. Annoyed, she sent a glare at the punkish looking group, “Ever heard of knocking?” She snarked, causing the blue haired girl to roll her eyes.
“Did you forget that you called us up here?” Said Janine McNamara, Scorpion Den’s lead programmer.
“Honestly Sumire, this better be good, I was in the middle of working on the next batch of Zenith, we’re running low.” Grumped a raven haired boy, the head chemist of Scorpion Den, Yosuke Miura. His features contorting into annoyance at the young scientist in front of him.
“Of course not,” Sumire crossed her arms, huffing, “but you still could have given me a warning, you can clearly see that I’m working on something and this is important, I’ve been working on this for months!”
“Damn, months? Usually it only takes you a few days to finish a project, this must really mean something to you.” A new voice popped up, unlike the others, this voice sounded synthesized, as if whoever was speaking was using a voice modulator. There was only one person that fit that description, the Trickster of Scorpion Den, the bright LED lights of his signature chemion mask lit up, his “eyes” displaying “X X”, conveying his current mood.
Sumire shrugged, fiddling with a piece of scrap metal in her hands, “Eh, kinda. It’s more….I’m repaying somebody back.”
“Ah, so this is about Aranai.” A smooth voice spoke, laced with amusement. The group immediately turned their heads to Miyabi Katsura, one of Scorpion Den’s few older members. Sumire glared at the older female while Miyabi merely gave a smile.
“W-wait a minute! As in the former biker gang leader?! And the current leader of Sakurai Clan?!” Yelped Scorpion Den’s fairly new member, Zoya Anand, who was currently looking at both Miyabi and Sumire in surprise and slight fear, she had heard many rumors of Ueno’s cherry blossom haired menace and while she isn’t sure how true they are, she wasn’t exactly eager to find out.
“Oh yeah, that’s right, it’s her birthday today, ain’t it? (! !)” Trickster ‘ohh’ed’ in realization, eyes turning into exclamation marks.
“So that’s what this is about? You called us here to help throw a party for your friend that we haven’t even met?” Yosuke scowled, now more annoyed that his work was interrupted for something he could care less for.
“C’mon Yosuke, don’t be a dick, I think that’s a awesome idea! I mean, I think it’s about time we meet the girl that’s stealing away our best friend.” Janine lightly elbowed the chemist, a smile on her pink lips. Though, while she was joking, the others didn’t exactly catch on and soon enough an argument broke out about whether Sumire was replacing them or not.
Sumire rubbed her forehead and released a sigh, her friends had a habit of taking anything she says and just ran with it without her explaining the whole thing, much like herself she realized but she could ponder about her hypocrisy later. “Can you all shut up for about five minutes?! If you would actually let me explain then you would know that Aranai’s not stealing me away, I’m not replacing all of you, and we’re not throwing a party!”
Sumire’s outburst caused her fellow Scorpions to quiet down almost immediately, causing the anarchist to let out a sigh of relief, it was silent for just about 30 seconds before Trickster spoke up. “So then, what are we doing?”
“I’m not going to do anything except finish my gift,” Sumire turned back to her workbench and picked up her tools, already getting back to finishing crafting whatever it is she was working on. “You guys however, are going on a little trip to Ueno to pick up some cargo.”
“Hell no.” Yosuke refused.
“What cargo? How come we weren’t notified?” Janine questioned.
“Is the cargo a cake? Please tell me it’s cake. (~ ~)” Trickster begged.
“Wait, I still don’t understand, why do we have to go to Ueno?” Zoya asked.
“Isn’t it obvious? Sumire wants us to go kidnap Aranai.” Miyabi explained.
Sumire snaped her fingers and pointed at Miyabi without looking. “You see, why can’t you guys be as perceptive as Miyabi?”
“Hell no.” Yosuke refused, again.
“What?!” Janine yelped.
“Okay (X X).” Trickster shrugged.
“WHAT?!” Zoya yelled.
Miyabi pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed, “And what are we getting out of this?”
“An adventure, a chance to meet my friend, an opportunity to leave this fucking building.” Sumire responded, not missing a beat.
“Sumire.” Janine started, intertwining her hands together and a pleading look on her face. “Please listen to yourself and to me, I don’t know what kind of messed up relationship you and Aranai have but we are not going to kidnap her for you.”

Thank You!
As Sayaka’s birthday comes to a close once more, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who gave gifts and wished our butterfly mommy a happy birthday. It really means a lot to me and I hope you all can show that love for the next birthday that rolls around. Specifically, a certain anarchist’s…
Sayaka gave a huge beaming smile at the camera, rivaling that of the sun itself. “Thank you all so much, I cannot express how happy I feel and how grateful I am for each and every one of you!”

Papilio Melancholia
Tumblr media
— Saitama Lakeside Cemetery —
Funny how it can go from sunny to cloudy just like that.
‘It never gets easier’, is what Sayaka thought as she walked up the cobblestone stairway, shifting Yoshiko in her arms, the four year old was uncharacteristically quiet as she held onto her mother, occasionally tightening her hold, as if to comfort her. The thought made her feel slightly better…until she remembers where they were.
What was only a couple of minutes felt like hours as the pair finally made it to their destination, stopping right in her tracks, Sayaka gently placed her daughter down who immediately grabbed onto her hand, the older woman giving a squeeze of reassurance as the two stared down at the gravestones, the difference being that one was smaller than the other.
Yoshiki Miyuki
‘A loving husband and father, greatly loved and sadly missed.’
Breath hitching, Sayaka bit her lip and mustered up the courage to look at the other gravestone, heart clenching as she read over the words.
Shinya Miyuki
‘If love could have saved you then you would have lived forever.’
But it didn’t.
No matter how much or how hard Sayaka loved, she couldn’t save him, both of them. There was no saving what had happened.
It wasn’t enough.
She wasn’t enough.
“Hi papa, hi Nya-chan.” It was Yoshiko who broke Sayaka out of her spiraling thoughts, letting go of her hand (the brunette woman despised the empty feeling it left her), the child took out some paper flowers in her pocket and placed two each on the gravestones. A symbol. That the four of them would always be together.
“Today is mommy’s birthday, she got lots of presents and we ate tons of cake! Auntie Lola and Big sister were there too! It was a lot of fun…” The little girl trailed off as she played with her fingers, expression somber, it looked unnatural for a little girl, especially one as cheerful as Yoshiko. “I wish you two were there, we could eat lots of cake together.” She looked back at her mother, a questioning look on her adorable features.
Sayaka gave her a small smile, hand going to caress her daughter’s brunette locks, she turned her focus back to the gravestones and sucked in a deep breath. “Hi Yoshiki, hi lovely.” She greeted each tomb respectively.
“Well, this is a treat, you’ve kept us waiting, my dear.”
“I know it’s been a while, a lot has happened, I don’t where to start.”
“Take your time, my love.”
“Well, I guess I can start with the obvious, it’s my birthday today, still can’t believe I’m already 31.”
“And yet, you don’t look a day over 25!”
“I’ve met so many different and amazing people, it’s sad to think that I might have to fight them sooner or later.”
“You’re so much stronger than you give yourself credit for, darling.”
“Lola and Kureha are still as lively as ever, I’m so glad I met them, I genuinely can’t imagine my life without them, especially Kureha, I wish you could have met her, you would have loved her….maybe I should bring her next time.”
“Please! You have no idea how much the anticipation is eating away at me! I wanna see this lovely girl!”
“Yoshi here, is growing up so fast, can’t you believe she’s going to be 5 in a few months?”
“That’s right! I’m gonna be a big girl, papa!”
“You really are, my sweet girl, you really are.”
“I hope you’re doing well…I hope you and Shinya are happy together.”
“We are, dear, knowing you and Yoshiko are happy together.”
“But…”
“It’s so hard, Yoshiki/You need to let go, Sayaka.”
“A-a lot is happening and I really don’t know what to do, I-I’m trying to move on, trying my very best for Yoshiko but…I don’t want to forget about you, our s-son, everything we had because if I do, will you hate me? W-will you think that I betrayed you?”
“Sayaka, you are the love of my life. All I ever wanted, all I want even now, is for you to be happy, for our daughter to be happy…even if I’m not the one providing it for you. You’re not betraying me and I won’t hate you but what I hate is seeing you like this, please darling, if you can hear me, that’s all I want.”
Sayaka sniffled as she wiped her eyes, the tears are still falling however. Now sitting in front of the gravestones, she could feel Yoshiko burying herself further into her chest and she held onto her tighter, inhaling and exhaling shaky breaths in an attempt to stabilize herself. She hadn’t realized how late it had become, the sky now darkening into a blue.
Sighing, she lifted Yoshiko into her arms and stood up, taking one last look at the gravestones. “I love you, Yoshiki, both you and Shinya, I always will, never forget that.”
Yoshiko peeked from out of the corner of her mother’s neck and waved, “Bye bye papa, bye bye Nya-chan.”
With that, the duo made their trek down the stairway, unbeknownst to them, a ghostly figure of a man holding a small bundle in his arms stood where they once were, watching as his wife and daughter made it to their car and after getting situated, drove off.
A baby’s coo caused Yoshiki to look down and smile at his son, “I know, Shin, I already miss them too. It seems like we gotta try harder, hm? Your mama’s been through a lot, she deserves all the happiness this world has to offer.”
As if on cue, the once cloudy sky slowly started to dissipated, allowing the sun to shine once more.
Butterflies started to come out from seemingly out of nowhere, flowing towards every which way, however, one in particular flew in the direction of the car in which the mother and daughter were in.
Happy Birthday Sayaka!

It's unknown how many times today the doorbell to Sayaka's house in Saitama was pushed today, but it seemed like it would go on at least once more. Alerting the residence, the matriarch of the family stood and answered the door, finding a delivery man there holding a large box covered with colorful wrapping paper.
"Sayaka Miyuki?" The gentlemen asked, to which the woman of the household nodded, prompting the deliveryman to hand her a clipboard with a piece of paper on it. Knowing the whole routine, Sayaka put her signature at the bottom of the paper, before handing it back to the man who handed the box to her, before bidding her farewell.
"Another present, love?" Lola asked as Sayaka hauled the box inside, placing it down. Truthfully, the box wasn't as heavy as expected.
"Yes," Sayaka answered, sighing. She didn't mind all the gifts that she had been receiving. Really, she loved them all; it was just embarrassing to know how many people were going out of their way to make her feel appreciated. Sighing again, she grabbed a pair of scissors and tore the tape off the top of the box, before pulling the covers of the box up. She peered inside and looked at what was inside.
In one of the corners of the box was a much smaller box; a jewelry box, to be exact. Pulling it out, Sayaka opened it up and her eyes grew wide as she looked at what was inside of it:
Tumblr media
Inside were a pair of gold rings, one small and one large. Adoring each ring was a butterfly, the symbol of the Saitama Division team. Slipping the ring on her finger, Sayaka was shocked to see that it was a perfect fit for her finger. The smaller one couldn't fit, but she thought to Yoshiko. Could it fit her? ...It was something to think about, at any rate.
"Ohhh," Lola said, looking at the ring. "Got a secret admirer I don't know about, love?"
"D-don't be silly!" Sayaka said, blushing at her friend's teasing. Ignoring the model, the single mom looked at the rest of the gifts inside the box and pulled out a slightly larger box that was inside of it. Pulling it out, she pulled the lid off and looked inside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inside were a trio of different-colored kimono robes. They were long enough to cover one's legs and feet, but still daring enough that it got the message across to a partner.
"Ohhh," Lola said, looking at one of the robes. "These look nice! Think I could borrow one, love?"
"Uhh... maybe," Sayaka said, as she looked at one of them. They were certainly pretty, but she didn't know if she'd ever wear one. It wasn't risqué or anything, but it might send the wrong message if anyone other than her friends saw her wearing this. ...But then again, who would see her wearing this save her friends and daughter?
Shaking her head at such thoughts, the birthday woman pulled out the last gift inside of the large box. Picking it up, she could tell it was a bottle of some sort. Pulling the wrapping paper off, she looked at what was inside of it.
Tumblr media
It was a clear bottle of colorful purple liquid. On the front cover, it read, 'Original Butterfly: Botanical Liqueur'. It certainly looked interesting, and Sayaka can't recall ever seeing a colorful liqueur like this before.
"Please tell me you are opening that tonight," Lola asked, eager to try some.
"We'll see," Sayaka smiled as she placed the bottle off to the side. Sighing, she was pleased that that was the last gift in the box. She had wondered though, who had sent her all of these gifts. Checking one last time inside, she noticed a note at the bottom. Reaching down, she pulled it out and read it:
'From Okinawa Division, Happy Birthday!'
'P.S. Those robes I bought were strictly for you. So do not, under any circumstances let that wanna-be model wear them! She'll lower their value! Thanks!'
In Okinawa Division...
"The little message really wasn't necessary, Miss Rose."
"No, but it did get the message across. Haha!"
"...Women..."
“On second thought, nevermind, I’d rather not catch anything if that bimbo was the one who bought them. Who knows what she could have done.” Lola scrunched up her nose in disgust, extenuating her point by moving away from the kimono robes.
Sayaka laughed nervously in response and set the letter aside, “Oh come on, Lola. Be nice, it’s a lovely gift, the Okinawa team are very sweet for doing this for someone like me.”
Lola merely rolled her eyes, “Uh, duh. You’re literally the best person ever, anyone you says otherwise or dont see it are dumb, blind, and deaf. Anyways, what I’m really interested is this.” She grabbed the bottle of liquor and made her way to the kitchen. “Can’t celebrate your birthday with getting the tiniest bit of shitface, I’ll be waiting.”
This time, Sayaka laughed wholeheartedly as she followed her friend into the kitchen.
Thank you for the gift!

The day was going well for the leader of the Saitama division’s team. At this point of the day, the sun was beginning to set, giving the area a warm orange glow to the city. A vast array of friends have come and gone, giving their gifts to the ever-so-kind Sayaka. And then…
Knock, knock, knock!
Drumming at the door of the Miyuki household a certain scientist, more specifically Kensaku, stood at the doorway with a gift basket filled with an array of fruits and vegetables, along with a small letter tucked into the edge of the basket. He seemed slightly nervous, but that worry seemed to wash away once the door opened up and he was met with a somewhat familiar face.
“Hey, good evening! Delivery for one birthday lady.”
Handing over the basket with a smile, Ken began to blabber about the basket.
“Apparently there’s a bunch of in-season stuff put into that basket from the Rikiya farms. Asato-kun insisted on putting that basket together for you and tagging along with me on my errands, but…” Gesturing to his car parked a bit away, a very sleepy Asato could be seen in the passenger seat, dozing in and out of sleep. In the split moment that Kensaku pointed him out, Asato could only give a weak nod in her direction, before sinking into the seat and succumbing to the claws of slumber. Kensaku chuckled at the younger man’s sleepy mood, then turned back to Sayaka. “I think the drive really drained him. It really is a long drive from Toyama over to here. Work is work though, right?”
Backing away from the door, Kensaku started to wave goodbye.
“T-The envelope is from me. It’s not much, but I figure you could use my gift to treat yourself and maybe even your daughter. I’ve got to get going though. I can’t have Mrs. Rikiya worrying about her grandson. Happy birthday, Miyuki-san! Enjoy the rest of your day!”
Before Sayaka could have a chance to say much else, Kensaku had already gotten into his car and taken off, leaving her with the big basket. So… What exactly was inside?
Asato seemed to have taken a lot of care into making the basket as it was quite heavy and overflowing with all sorts of food. From simple things like persimmons, peaches, ginger, cabbage, apples, and tomatoes, to some more impressive things like the giant honeydew melon and a jar of homemade jam, most likely made by Asato’s grandmother. Tucked away was Kensaku’s present, which was just a simple envelope addressed to Sayaka containing 10,000 yen (roughly, I mean very roughly 100 dollars). It wasn’t much, but it showed that the Toyama team were thankful for Sayaka’s support.
Much later, somewhere in Nagao…
“Did you give her the card?”
“H-Huh?! Oh, you’re awake…” Kensaku shouted, before lowering his voice back down. Focusing on the road, he could only sigh. “No, I figured it was too cheesy.”
“Really?” Asato tilted his head at the older man.
“Yeah? You overshadowed my sad excuse of a gift with your crazy gift basket. I get that you and your grandma wanted to thank her and her team for your birthday presents, but you could’ve at least given it to her on your own.”
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to steal your… Show.”
“It’s fine. I’m sure she liked both of our presents equally! Right?”
“Right…” Asato could only stare at the smiling Kensaku. Even to Asato it felt obvious that Kensaku cared about his gift a lot more than he was letting on. But instead of prying, Asato snuggled back into his seat, letting the rumble of the car soothe him back into sleep.
Sayaka waved goodbye with a smile at the furthering vehicle and turned back towards her house, careful to not let any of the produce slip out of the basket and closed the door. Setting the basket on the dining table, she was surprised to see just how much was placed into the basket, not to mention Kensaku’s gift, which may not have been much but it meant all the more to Sayaka to know that he went out of his way to give her something. She couldn’t help but to smile, grateful towards the Toyama team for such a lovely gift.
“So who was it from this time?” A voice spoke up and Sayaka jumped before quickly turning around to find Lola leaning on the doorframe with her arms cross, a coy smile on her face.
“Lola! Goodness, you started me!” Placing a hand on her chest, Sayaka couldn’t help but laugh a bit. She stood aside so that Lola could see the gift for herself, “Ah, Morimoto-san and Rikiya-san from Toyama came by a moment ago, they gave me this wonderful gift.” She held up the envelope and gestured towards the basket.
Lola nodded thoughtfully and walked over to the table, she seemed impressed by the gift basket Asato put together, nodding in approval before turning towards Sayaka and the envelope, peaking over her shoulder, she gave an unimpressed hum, “10,000 yen? Seriously?”
Sayaka frowned at Lola’s response, finding her tone disrespectful. “Lola, Morimoto-san drove all the way here from Toyama, that’s at least a 5 hour drive with no traffic, plus, he could have just wished me a happy birthday, it’s the fact that he went out of his way to even give me something in the first place makes it a nice gift!”
Lola’s eyes widen and she stepped away, putting her hands up in surrender. “Whoa! Okay! Okay! I’m sorry, you’re absolutely right. Damn, honeybun…is there something I should know about?”
“Hmm?” Sayaka tilted her head, “What do you mean?”
“It’s just that, you seem very…passionate to defend that Morimoto guy, since when were you two such good friends?”
“We are friends.” Sayaka nodded. “At least, I’d like to think so.”
Lola just stared at her for a bit before nodding slowly. “…Okay, sweetness, okay.”
Thank you for the gift!

The day in question of Sayaka Miyuki's birth was slowly winding down and coming to an end. Though it was just like any other day, one couldn't deny that the date of someone's birth was a reason for celebration and to be happy. This was probably the reason why a very large cake box appeared on the doorstep of the Miyuki residence. And it wasn't alone. It seemed that the sender wasn't the only one with the idea to leave the recipient a gift. Though the sender debated leaving it there, they had little to no choice and could only hope that the present, along with the others, were left there until the woman in question returned home.
Two hours later...
As Sayaka and the rest of FF returned to her estate, they all stopped as there was an abundance of gifts left upon her front porch. The three women (and Yoshiko) all looked at the display of items that were blocking the door.
"Wow," Lola whistled, bumping Sayaka's arm with her elbow. "Someone's popular today."
"Well, it is her birthday," Kureha stated.
"Surely... these can't all be for me?" Sayaka questioned, still surprised.
"Believe it, hun!" Lola answered. "That's what it means to be the birthday girl!" Walking up to them, the model picked up the ones that were blocking the door.
"Come on, let's get inside and see what's in them!"
"Alright, alright," Sayaka said, as she walked to the front door, unlocking it. Once inside, the group what items they could and brought them to the living room. Urged on by Lola and her daughter, the birthday woman picked up a random box and opened it.
Tumblr media
Inside the box, inside a pink cylinder, was a bouquet of pink and white flowers, all healthy and blooming. They all had a lovely and beautiful scent to them, making the room smell delightful. On the cylinder, a note was tapped on it, which read:
'A most joyous and blessed happy birthday, Sayaka-san! May God continue to bless you with many more! Sincerely, Shisuta Heisha.'
Smiling at the flowers sent by the nun, Sayaka set them off to the side and opened up another gift, which was in a smaller box than the previous one.
Tumblr media
Inside of it was a pair of rectangular squares, all a different color of the rainbow, excluding indigo. In the corner of each was a small circle, obviously for putting keys or such on. With it came a small black remote control with six buttons, all the same as the squares. Inside of the box was a note, obviously left by the recipient.
'A most joyous happy birthday to you, Sayaka-san. My apologies for delivering this to you so late. Work has been difficult, as of late. I hope these key finders will make up for it. Not that I doubt you will ever have need of them since I know you are an orderly woman who never loses track of her possessions. But better safe than sorry, I believe. Please enjoy what is left of your day. Sincerely, Kisouna Yuzairu.'
Again, the Saitama leader smiled at the gift, ignoring the smart comment made by Lola. Turning to another box, this one felt a bit heavier than the last, though lighter than the first. Opening, her eyes grew as she looked at what was inside.
Tumblr media
It was a foot massager, a bit different from the one she currently had, as this one was undoubtedly more expensive; Sayaka could tell just by looking at it. She knew that she'd have to read the instruction manual in order to figure out how to use it, though a part of her couldn't wait to try it out. On the box, she looked as there was another note like the previous two.
'Happy birthday, Shinobu Kocho! ...If you didn't get that reference, you should watch more anime. Anyway, I heard it was your birthday and I decided to get you this. If you're anything like 'Mom' and Boss-Lady, you don't know when to relax, so I thought this thing could help. Enjoy your b-day! Aranai "Ride or Die" Norikoru.'
Like before, Sayaka found it hard to stop smiling as she had received gifts from all three members of the Ueno Division, which was unexpected, though not at all unappreciated. She made a mental note to send thanks to each and every one of them when she got the chance. Looking as there was one present left, she noticed that it was the largest out of all those she had received. Opening the box, her eyes lit up at what was inside.
Tumblr media
Inside was a four-story white cake decorated with butterfly adornments. The single mother looked as her daughter was eyeing it, already thinking of devouring it, though she couldn't blame her. Like the last three, a single note was placed outside the box, which read:
'Happy birthday, Sayaka Miyuki. I apologize for delivering this late, but it took a long while to complete. Plus I wanted to make sure I delivered it myself before someone got to it. I hope you, your family and friends enjoy it. Again, happy birthday, and good luck in the D.R.B. Sincerely, Luis Kōkyū.'
“Weeeeell~ Somebody’s a popular gal!”
“You already said that.”
“Mommy! Mommy! Can we have cake, pleeeease?!”
Sayaka laughed as she set Luis’ letter down, patting Yoshiko’s head in an attempt to get her to calm down or at least from trying to jump the table and onto the cake. Between this cake and the one Kanra got for her, the single mother can already tell that her baby was going to get a sugar rush. Thankfully it’s the weekend, so she’ll be lenient.
“Seriously though, gifts from all three members of Ueno Division and a cake from Luis, you are indeed a special woman, Sayaka.” Lola winked as Kureha went to go get plates and silverware from the kitchen, mumbling, “Kōkyū-san’s cakes are really good.”
Sayaka gave a small smile, hand now stroking Yoshiko’s hair. “Hmm, maybe. I’m just glad to meet and befriend such amazing people.”
Thank you for the gift!

Note
The doorbell to the Miyuki household is heard, plus a knock on their front door. Sayaka goes to answer it. Opening the door she finds no one is there. Looking down she spots something on the doorstep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two boxes were on the floor, one large pink and a small black, each with “To Sayaka Miyuki” on them. Seeing they were for her, the brunette picked them up and carried both boxes into the kitchen. Deciding to open the bigger pink box first, her eyes grew wide at what was inside.
Tumblr media
Inside the box was a white and pink cake decorated with several macarons on top. On top of the cake laid a simple pink card. Opening the card Sayaka found the messy writing of a certain someone from Edogawa and began reading it.
“Dear Auntie Sayaka, (Hope you don't mind me calling you that!)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I made a cake for you! I wasn't entirely sure what was your favorite flavor but the cake is vanilla while the macarons are a mix of strawberry and raspberry. I hope you, Yoshiko-chan, and your team enjoys it.
From,
Kanra Akemi”
Giving a small smile to what Kanra had called her Sayaka turned her attention to the small black box. Unraveling the white ribbon Sayaka opened the gift curious as to what was inside. Sayaka couldn't help but start choking at what was inside.
Tumblr media
Inside the case was a gorgeous bracelet made of white and pink diamonds. Picking it up gingerly Sayaka could help but wonder are those real diamonds? Noticing that a card was underneath the gift Sayaka picked it up and opened it seeing a letter written in some of the most beautiful handwriting she had ever seen.
“Dear Sayaka-san,
May you have a Happy Birthday. Forgive me for not being able to hand you your gift in person but work has left me quite busy recently. These bodies aren't going to autopsy themselves you know? I wasn't quite sure what to get you but I do hope you enjoy what I picked out from you. I managed to get an old contact of mine in Italy to get this specialty made. They’ve been making handcrafted jewelry for decades and I've gone to them for all my jewelry. Once again I wish you a lovely Happy Birthday.
Sincerely,
Yuriko Kuromiya
P.S. Just in case you were wondering yes the diamonds are genuine.”
In Edogawa Division…
“You got Sayaka a what?”
“A diamond bracelet? Why? Was that a little too much?”
“Who told you to get her that?”
“My old mentor.”
“You mean the same old mentor who currently runs Europe’s most extensive information network while disguising it as a high-class brothel in Italy?”
“Yes?”
“Yuriko think about what I just said and get back to me on what’s wrong with that sentence.”
Sayaka looked at the gifts in front of her, a smile etched onto her face. Picking up one of the macarons, she took a bite out of it and her eyes sparkled at the flavor, it was quite good, very good actually, the woman had to stop herself from devouring the whole thing. Placing the cake on the counter of her kitchen, the brunette woman turned her attention back to the other gift, gently picking up the bracelet, she slipped it on her wrist and was pleasantly surprised to find it a perfect fit…how exactly did Yuriko know her size? Oh well, she couldn’t say she wasn’t happy, she just wondered how was she going to repay Yuriko and Kanra back for their kindness.
Walking into the kitchen were Lola and Kureha, they stopped short, however, when they saw Sayaka admiring her bracelet.
Lola whistled, “Damn sweetness, are those actual diamonds?” She walked over to the counter where the cake was and swiped a macaron, taking a bite and humming delightfully at the taste.
Sayaka nodded, “Yes, this was a gift from Yuriko-san! The cake however was from my lovely niece, Kanra.”
Both girls choked, Lola from the macaron and Kureha from the shock at what her mother figure said.
“YURIKO/NIECE?!”
“Yes…? Did I say something wrong?”
Thank you for the gift!

ARB Birthday Special 2022: Sayaka Miyuki
Tumblr media
~~ September 23rd ~~
“Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you.”
Login Lines:
“I see it’s that time of year again haha. Yep, I made sure not to forget this time!”
“Thank you so much for the gift, although you didn’t have to. Still, it really means a lot.”
Voice Lines:
“Oh wow, 31 years old. I’m..not sure how to feel really, don’t get me wrong, I’m so glad and lucky to have made it so far and I hope I can live for another 31 years hopefully.”
“The detective agency threw me another party, I knew I should’ve seen it coming but I’m still surprised, I didn’t know they all hold me in such high regard.”
“To be honest, I don’t really feel that bad. …Hm? Well, Lola has been telling me some things about how peoples start to let themselves go once they hit their 30s, I don’t believe her obviously but she’s very persuasive. We’ve agreed that, however, I take up a more..active hobby. She said she does know a dance instructor…”
“I’m really happy with all the gifts and wishes people have been giving me, it still honestly blows my mind that I know so many interesting and unique people that I’m happy to call my friends.”
“To be perfectly honest? I would prefer to spend the day with Yoshiko and Kureha, I feel like it’s been too long since we all had a mother-daughters day. Plus, there’s somewhere I need to make a visit first…”
“…Hm? Why do you want me to close my eyes, Lola? …Oh, a surprise? You’re not gonna put anal beads in my hand again, are you?…Okay, okay, I trust you….Okay, ready when you are.”
“I…Lola, I’m speechless…how did you…how much did this cost?…Yes, it matters! …Oh, it’s beautiful, I didn’t even know they can make pianos like this! I’m almost afraid to touch it, it’s…been a while since I’ve last played…though I’m not opposed to practice, I wonder if Yoshiko would be interested.”
“Kureha, sweetie! I’m so glad you can make it! How was school? …What? I’m still your mother, I like to know that you’re doing well and are healthy even on my birthday. …That’s good, so what is it that you want to show me?”
“Oh sweetheart, these are beautiful! I can’t believe that you made these yourself!…Oh stop it! You are a very talented woman and I’m so proud of you! Thank you for the gift, lovely.”
“Yoshi, baby! There you are! You sure are a slippery one, I’ve been trying to find you all day! …Hm? What’s behind your back?”
“Honey, did you make this for me? It’s absolutely beautiful, you did such a wonderful job. Those art lessons big sister gives you are paying off real well! Welp, it’s official, I’m never drinking out of another cup again. …Hehe, thank you baby, now go put your shoes on, we’re going to someplace special today.”
Lola Lines:
“Sayaka! My love! My darling! Happy birthday honeybun! Now, your gift is waiting for you just up ahead but…I need you to close your eyes, it’s a surprise after all! …What? No! No! Trust me, I learned my lesson last time, now will you please close those pretty eyes for me? …Thank you, now follow me!”
“Ta-da! I got you a piano! I remember you used to tell stories of how you played piano when you were younger and I figured that maybe you want to brush up on your skills one day, and because I know how much you love butterflies, I got it customized…Ah, don’t worry about the price, it doesn’t matter, nothing is too much when it comes to spoiling my precious girls.”
Kureha Lines:
“Hi mom, happy birthday, sorry I’m late. …Mom, please, it’s your birthday, you can afford to think about yourself…*sigh* Fine, it was okay. I want to show you my gift, can I, please?
“It’s really nothing, all I did was make some butterfly sculptures and I bought the lights from the electronics store…I..*flustered* You really think so?…Thank you.”
Bonus! Yoshiko Lines:
“Ah! Mommy! …I’m sorry, I want to give you this.”
“Mhm! I colored it all by myself! Even big sister liked it! …Ehehe! Happy birthday, Mommy! I love you!”
